Michael Faraday
Don't Blow It
Michael listened to Momo try to explain her gadget, but with her struggling to remember where her mother had got it made Michael concerned. Maybe her bump to the head was as serious as he worried. It was important to get them through this as quickly as possible so she could get medically examined. Michael wish he knew a little more on first aid to be able to assure her safety but hindsight wouldn't help now. But from the sounds of it, Momo's gadget would be rather useful with its multiple functions. Michael never quite knew what to do with tools or even a suit. Maybe once this was all done, he could ask Momo what everything she had did for her and how it helped with her quirk.
Suddenly more barrels began to roll at them, however these ones were different... They had colored bands and seemed to roll even faster. That along with the different sound they made as they tumbled down the beams made Michael assume that there was likely something inside the barrels... but he didn't want to find out what that would be. Michael began bouncing lightly in place, to gain some height as he was going to bound them up to the next level and avoid the barrels.
It was only as he was leaping up that he noticed the burning wicks on the barrels as it rolled closer. Michael's body tensed at the very plausible chance that this was an explosive barrel and with how burnt the wick looked it likely wouldn't be long. "HOLD ON TIGHT!" Michael shouted in concern as he tried to grasp onto the beam above them tightly.

Oh!
“OH!!!”
The lightbulb finally clicked on Momo’s head in between Michael’s shout and the ensuing:
B O O M
They were out of harm’s way. Or at least its direct path, but the resulting shockwave from the explosion rippled through Momo. She had been holding on tight as ordered, but now her muscles failed and she, in turn, fell.
She wasn’t the only thing falling. The explosion had caused the lower beams to fall away. Getting back up from the floor would be next to impossible. Which meant reaching the exit door would be too and that meant failing the challenge. Momo didn’t want to fail. What’s more, she didn’t want to be the reason Michael failed either.
The yo-yo was called back into action. It latched onto the bottom the beam that Michael had managed to grasp. Without having his weight to worry about, Momo was able to use the weapon’s momentum to swing her up and over the beam so that she was crouched above Michael. She yoinked the yo-yo back to her and reached a hand down to Michael to him up before he wore out his arms.
“I have an idea!”
And she did. They happened every now and then. Not quite as frequently as the barrels kept being dropped on them, as proven by another set mixed with explosive barrels was unleashed above, but she only needed the one for now. At least that’s what she thought.
“We need to get over the barrels before the fuses run out! Then I’ll freeze one and you can grab it! We might be able to use it to blow up the next set of barrels that come out then rush to the top if I can relight the fuse! It takes time for my yo-yo to switch modes though! You in?”
He didn’t have a lot of time to decide as the next round was already incoming.

Don't Blow It
Michael had realized the threat too late, only able to warn Momo before clinging to the girder with all his might. The barrel exploded harshly beneath them. It fortunately was more bang than burn or burst, but the shock-waves from the explosion were still enough to rattle through the pair of heroes. Michael strained to keep his grip for both of their sakes, but Momo unfortunately was unable to keep her hold. Michael felt her slip from his body and he panicked in concern for her.
Just before Michael dove after her, Momo more than managed to save herself. Using her yo-yo, she managed to not only catch herself but swing up onto the beam Michael was hanging from. Emotional and physical relief came as she was safe and helped him up onto the scaffold. They had made it, but now there was no beams below them after the explosions had taken out all of the lower levels.
Momo came up with an idea, it was a good plan, but they also didn't have time to think about if it didn't work. Michael nodded, fully on board. "I'll get us over the barrels and be ready when you freeze the last one." Michael picked up Momo and draped her over his shoulder so she could face backwards. He began charging towards the next set of barrels, bouncing enough to build up a jump over the first, then the second, then the third. With Momo facing that way already, she was able to do what she planned to the last barrel in the set.

Being carried around like a sack of potatoes was definitely less fun than the piggyback rides, but Momo tried her hardest not to squirm around to ease the discomfort on her torso. Michael didn’t need to fight with her fidgeting on top of everything else. The plan required fine tuned timing and that required concentration—on Momo’s part too.
This was an area where Momo actually excelled. Maybe not in the thinking of plans, but the execution of plans. A choreography she could follow. An adrenaline rush that could be translated into physical action. Precise movements. All of it were things she had learned in ballet. Now she applied them here.
The yo-yo launched out for a third time, though its intent was different than before. An icy chill radiated from the shells as they collided with the lit fuse of the last barrel. Momo had to pull back to prevent the yo-yo from making contact with the barrel itself which would blow the whole plan.
Literally.
The fuze snuffed out and Momo immediately squirmed free of Michael. “Quick! Grab it!” The other barrels had yet to crash or explode, but if they did, there was a chance the girder they were on now would also fall away. They needed to get up to the next level and with the barrel in tow.

Pump You Up
On Momo's cue, Michael put her down and inflated his upper-body. His athletics clothing stretched harshly as if threatening to burst at the seams as Michael's arms and torso swelled like some kind of champion body builder. His muscularly defined appearing arms reached out fast to grab onto that final barrel before it rolled too far away. Momo's plan had worked to be able to freeze the wick over and stop the fuse.
Michael strained a little with a deep grunt as he attempted to lift the barrel up and over his head. Michael's legs began to swell up as he inflated the muscles there to as he settled the cask on his shoulder. Gritting through his teeth, he tried to keep his composure as he told Momo: "Alright... start going... I'm right behind you." Michael began walking up the beam with the barrel on his shoulders, to get it in place for the next part of her plan.

Momo scrambled up the ladder ahead of Michael and worked on resetting the yo-yo’s elemental output in the time between her ascension and his arrival. It was a short space in which to work and the pressure did lead to a little fumbling with the mechanism. By the time Michael reached Momo there was an audible click from the yo-yo and a happy, “Ha,” from the girl herself as a declaration of victory over her own device.
Now all they had left to do was…
Make it down toward the other end of the platform where the panel was before it opened—or at least close enough to toss the barrel and hit their target. Given how much Michael was exerting himself, a feat Momo recognized from her dance days, he was going to need some help to hustle. “Let me help with that!” So of course Momo had volunteered. Even if she wasn’t the only one there, she still would have. Noodle arms or not.
The noodle arms did pose a problem. So did the height difference. Her yo-yo could help with the latter, but her ladybugs were called back to active duty to fill in where Momo was lacking elsewhere. The air vibrated with energy as the little beetles shimmered to life. Once more the overhead exit sign dimmed. Strength pulsed through her entire body before she launched the yo-yo at the girder overhead. Once up there, she released the yo-yo to grab the beam with one hand so that she could use the yo-yo to wrap around the barrel from above. Momo couldn’t take on all of the weight and support herself, but her upward pull on it made it lighter for Michael to carry which would let him move faster toward their goal while Momo monkey barred her way across above.
“Ready when you are!”

Michael continued to be surprised by the attitude and surprises of Momo. Her latest trick with her yo-yo made it so it was being lifted by the girder above to ease some of the weight off Michael. He was able to charge it forward and line it up for the plan. With the help on the barrel, Michael was able to outrun the next wave of barrels. "Okay, on three let it go." Michael said as he readied to throw it towards the panel to lock it up. He didn't want her to get yanked along with the barrel from just throwing it unannounced. "One, two, Three!"
Michael inflated himself nearly twice his size to give him that extra little bump to hurl the barrel towards the panel that had been releasing them towards them. Michael let out his gas as soon as the barrel was in the air, snapping back to his normal size and shape. From this close at the end of the scaffold they should be able to jump up to the final beam together and make way for the exit.

The tension of anticipation rippled through Momo as she waited for the countdown to complete. She snapped into action the instant it did, both releasing the yo-yo, ensuring it was on the proper setting, and then launching it after the barrel. Only a fraction of a second passed before the heated shell made contact with the fuse and lit it once more. Scant more time remained between ignition and explosion now. Momo used that time to swing herself up over the girder she had been dangling from. She got herself stable just as the barrel exploded, caving in and jamming the panel that had been set to unleash another barrage toward them.
“Freedom!”
Momo’s cheer was accompanied by a little victory dance. They weren’t quite done though. There was still the matter of exiting. “Ready, player one,” she asked Michael with a smile before making a mad dash toward the door under the assumption that he’d follow. Even her seemingly endless supply of energy was starting to dwindle, so she didn’t want to stick around just to find out that the test had any more nasty surprises for them behind the walls.

Michael Faraday
Done with One
Michael watched in awe as Momo's plan went off splendidly. She even punctuated the success with a little cheer and dance. He chuckled softly to himself as he watched her, equally pleased with the results. Momo started running ahead for the exit and Michael followed immediately after her. They seemed to have made it through the first challenge but what else did this class have in mind moving forward.
Michael wasn't much of a video game enthusiast so he wasn't sure what to expect in the next rooms, but he was confident that he and Momo would be able to handle most any challenge together. He kept close behind her, falling in step off of hers so he could help her if anything went wrong on the final sprint for the exit.
Momo's energy and excitement were contagious as Michael couldn't help but smile from behind his latex face. He was having fun with this class' challenge so far and he could attribute that to Momo. If he was running this on his own or with another classmate, he may have taken it too seriously, not appreciating the creativity and playfulness that this kind of scenario could have.

Momo huffed and puffed her way out of the exit door. A long corridor waited the pair on the other side. It was as dark as the main lobby of The Arcade had been. The floor was also lit with the same neon runners. These particular lights pointed unnecessarily to the only path forward at the other end of the hall in the form of a door marked by the words LEVEL TWO.
“Whew,” Momo said and bent over to catch her breath. “That was something!” She stretched back up to ease the stitch in her side and looked at Michael, still grinning in spite of now being a sweaty mess. “You were something too!” Momo wished she had a balloon Quirk after seeing him in action.
“I wish I had a balloon Quirk too!”
Her filter was still absent, but at least the words that usually spilled out of Momo’s mouth on a regular basis trended toward the positive side of things. “Are you up for round two?” Momo was fueled by sugar and a runner’s high. She hadn’t felt this buzzed since her ballet days. The physical effort was hard, but she thrived on it.

Level 2: Feeling Froggy?
Michael ran with Momo through the exit as they passed round 1. Michael bent over and panted so hard it looked like his head inflated and deflated briefly with every heavy breath. When Momo complimented his quirk, he felt his already red cheeks flush slightly. He looked up at her and how hard she had driven herself to make it past that last room. "Thanks. *huff puff* You were amazing back there too." He still didn't quite understand how her quirk worked, but she knew how to work it and that was all that mattered. Michael looked down the corridor heading for the next area. That had only been the first level, so now they were heading to the next level.
Momo asked if he was ready for the round two and he stood back up straight breathing regularly. He nodded, feeling confident by her enthusiasm. "Lets's do it!" They hurried their way down the corridor to door way to the next level. The room they entered was dark for a moment until the lights came on to reveal the challenge.
There was a large stretch of what appeared to be asphalt stretching from one wall to the other like a road for them to cross. Along the walls of that road was four large holes in line with one another. Across the road from them was a river, flowing parallel with the road. On the river floated down logs and round green platform that flowed from the left to the right. Just like the road there were holes along the sides of the river that the logs and platforms floated out from.
As Michael took a step closer to get a better look, suddenly a massive car zoomed past him on the road nearly knocking the balloon man over. With that first car zipping by, an assortment of massive vehicles drove from one hole into the other, making the road into a 2-way freeway. From the look of how it was laid out, it seemed they needed to cross the street and then the river to get to the other side.

Momo barely managed to turn what would have been a scream into a high-pitched squeak of surprise when Michael was nearly turned into roadkill. She reached out to steady him even while yelling at the disappearing vehicle, “Hey! Watch where you’re going!” She had yet to realize that were automated on a predetermined path and the whole point was not watching where they were going. That was the task for Michael and Momo.
“Are you okay,” she asked as she started to inspect him for injury. Momo was an expert at spotting them since she got so many herself. Not that she could actually do anything if Michael had gotten hurt. Once he answered, Momo would turn her attention to the scene again.
“Um. Do they want us to direct traffic?”
Heroes were supposed to help however they could, right?
Still, something about that didn’t seem right.
Even to Momo.

Michael Faraday
Why'd The Balloon Cross the Road?
Michael was nearly yanked into the road from the sheer momentum of the speeding car that rushed by him. Luckily Momo grabbed him and pulled him back. She shouted at the speeding car but it vanished out of sight into the tunnel it was driving towards before she was even half finished. "I'm fine. Thanks!" Michael said sighing in relief from her saving him.
While it wasn't explicitly clear what they were meant to do, it didn't seem the vehicles were going to respond to their presence as the car hadn't even slowed remotely from either Michael standing too close or from Momo's outburst. They were automated, so they were likely just hurtles for them to get past. Michael looked around, this time being sure to keep away from the rushing traffic. From how it was laid out, it seemed more like an obstacle course more than anything, getting from one place to the other. He could even see a door way over on the other side of the river past the road.
"Looks like we just need to get over to the other side..." Michael said in concern. The way these vehicles were zooming they would likely do pretty serious damage, even to his rubbery body. They would need to move across the road quickly to try to jump between the oncoming cars with precision timing to avoid getting struck.
"If I was stronger I might be able to float us over... but we'd be sitting ducks if I started to lose gas..." Michael said apologetically. "So it looks like we'll have to cross by foot."

Momo’s face scrunched up. If her Quirk was being a traffic light or a stop sign, this would be a lot easier. She looked up. Unlike the challenge before, there weren’t any rafters or beams overhead that Momo could use to yo-yo her way across. So with Michael’s admission and her own preferred form of terrain traversal out of commission, Michael was right. So Momo unscrunched her face, nodded, and did a few stretches to prepare herself.
“By foot it is!”
She edged up to the road. “I can go first. My balance is pretty good, so I can test how stable the logs and platforms are.” A lifetime of ballet and gymnastics would certainly come in handy for such a test. Now she just needed to back up the claim and hope her body was up to the task at hand. Good citizen that she was, Momo looked both ways before crossing—which meant she had to wait several seconds as cars zipped past at frightening speeds. Once the road was clear, Momo dashed forward.
Of course, Momo hadn’t planned past avoiding the cars. Which meant she hadn’t timed her run to both avoid said cars and have an available log in the river which was currently empty. The road, however, wasn’t staying that way itself. Momo could hear approaching engines from the tunnels. She had never wanted a log to be dropped in her presence so badly in her life. Panic was setting in. Did she risk staying or risk running back?
The decision was made for her. Just as a car zoomed up on Momo, a log floated out of a tunnel on the opposite end. Momo booked it as fast as she could with the car closing in, then leapt toward the log at what was quite literally the last second. Any longer, and she would have been a Momo pancake. Now safely on her log, Momo let out the verbal equivalent of hsdfajglksadfjaksflka as she processed what just happened.

Michael Faraday
Floating By
Michael began to think intently about how they could get across. From how the vehicles sped by, it didn't seem they had a rhythm or pattern to them, so it would just depend on timing and faith to jump from lane to lane while avoiding getting hit as they would need to cross to the other side. It probably wasn't a great idea to try going at it alone, as with the fast moving obstacles coming from both directions, they would be able to count on each other by taking watch of each direction and trusting each other when they needed to move forward or even back. Even then it was a gamble if they would make it over.
However Momo went with a more abrupt choice and just booked it. Before Michael even knew she had started, she was sprinting across the road and for the river, split second timing in her favor as she leapt from the pavement and landed her way onto a log floating along the current. As a person that was filled with literal gas, Michael never felt so breathless before. He audibly gasped in some air as it sunk in that she had made it more than half way through with a desperate dash.
Michael was still reeling but he needed to get over to her to get her to keep going before the log would just float off into the tunnel it was drifting for. Inhaling sharply, Michael's body began to swell and literally balloon. He puffed up to the point he was actually floating in the air and began to bob his way over the dangerous highway and towards the multi-flowing river. Soon he was hovering above Momo, looking down over her like a round Michael-shaped weather balloon.
Michael was uncertain if his new friend would be able to make it across on her own. As lucky as she was, it was a risk he didn't want to take. Forcing as much gas to fill him as possible, Michael strained himself to inflate greater than he ever had before. Feeling like his muscles could give out at any moment, Michael grabbed up Momo as quickly as he could and began floating her over the parallel but opposite flowing currents. By the time he managed to float her to the other side, his body gave out on him and Michael collapsed to the floor. His whole body stung, but with Momo's help Michael crossed through the exit door.
Fortunately that was the final challenge for the day as their professor called for the end of class. Michael was so sore his limbs felt like limp noodles and it was difficult to even keep himself fully inflated. He said his goodbyes as friendly as possible before staggering back to his room to lay down and rest.
