[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... A massive weight was off of Jun's shoulders. She had successfully navigated through her finals, and was now free for the time being; she was waiting to hear back on her grades, but that could wait. There were a lot of things to take care of, and one of them was a series of training exercises with promising underclassmen. She had pulled up a list, but the first received a direct text: Jun wasn't 100% convinced Yoko would take her up on it. In retrospect, she seemed a lot more hesitant regarding hero work that Jun initially thought, and it was a situation like Zaya if she had to guess. But, maybe like Zaya, Jun could be a positive influence in this girl's life? She was set up in her hero uniform, winces set up on her belt and anchors dangling to and fro as she stretched out, waiting on her charge to arrive. She hoped. If Yoko didn't she was going to do some extra practice with three dimensional maneuvering while she was here. As bad as she was with it, the feeling of G-forces on her, not to mention the sheer liberty that came with it, was a good way to destress. And it calmed her enough to steady her hand when she went to work on models, which was exactly what she was going to do after this. Yanai Yoko

The Mountain Zone. That same zone she had gotten her last injury from. She shuddered at the thought of going back there, but at least she knew Jun was truthful and that it wasn't going to be a crowded place. It couldn't hurt to go. After all they had made a promise, and if she hated it or Jun did something weird she could always just turn back around and go home again. ''omw'' She typed simply, before hitting send. When Jun came into view Yoko didn't say anything. Rather, she waited for Jun to notice her before offering a lazy wave back. ''Hey senpai, so this is the place, huh?'' She looked around as if she had never seen it before when that definitely wasn't true. ''Is this where you do all your training?'' Jun had really committed. She was wearing her hero uniform and everything. In stark contrast to her, Yoko was wearing a red hoodie as usual and black leggings to match, with a pair of red combat boots since she knew the terrain was going to be weird today. ''Fancy getup. They didn't give me one of those when I joined.'' Not that she minded in the slightest. Jun could make it work, but a uniform like that would look terrible on herself. ''What's your hero name, by the way? I don't think I heard it last time.'' Probably because she didn't ask. ''So, what's the plan for today? Do you want me to just get my awkward shit out of the way?'' She emptied her pockets and dropped what she had in them on the sidelines so that her phone wouldn't randomly go flying during training. ''Or do you want to show me what you can do first?''junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun was pleasantly surprised, and had come up from one of her stretches to give Yoko a wave and a smile. Compared to before, she was much more composed; alert, awake, and having a bit of energy. "I prefer Ground Beta, believe it or not," she says, spinning one of the bands on her hands. "Lone Wolf-sensei has taken to using me in his simulations, though, and his schedule is...weird. It's hard to figure out when he's around or not. I tend to use Gamma more often, especially for sparring. Lotta places to set up an ambush." She dusted her hands off, tilting her head a little. "Really? The school normally hounds you about getting designs and stuff in so they can issue uniforms. So I've heard, anyways. This is actually the third or so iteration, and only 'cause of the special harness sewn into it. It's...complicated to explain in depth, maybe one day." She let her arms relax by her side, shrugging. "Eh...it's Mood Ring. I ah...I thought of it when I was a kid, before I wanted to do any of this. Anyways, the plan!" She didn't think too much on the plan. And Yoko was a concerning case, as she only saw a glimpse of it. "I figure the best way to go about this is with a spar. Nothing too intensive, but to establish a baseline. I don't often get to spar with people who have transformation quirks, and because you're a special case..." She thought a moment. How did they need to go about it? "IIII...okay, yeah. I don't want you to hold back, but lethal force is off the table. As for what to focus on..." she held up her hand, rubbing her chin with the other. "How I use my quirk...I try to think on things in small bursts. Thinking on something that makes me angry, but it's something I can drop at the drop of a hat. Lingering on any one thing destroys any sense of versatility I might have, and because how your quirk works it would be best to just go light. Like...an itch that really gets on your nerves, and you really hone in on it for your quirk, but when you're ready to transform back let the thought go and think on something else. At least...it works for me. My only worry today is control."Yanai Yoko

She could in fact believe that. She was even about to make a joke about Jun preferring the beta grounds, but for the first time since meeting her senpai she actually showed restraint and decided to not make the joke. ''Lone Wolf-sensei?'' She said lookin from left to right. ''Is he here now?'' It made sense that a teacher had to observe them, but she didn't like the idea that if there was an observer it was someone she wasn't all too familiar with and someone who was staying hidden. ''Really? When they ask me I usually tell them to buzz off.'' That, and she didn't know how to work with her quirk exactly. It wasn't just that she didn't like using her quirk, but designing hero fashion around a monster form wasn't exactly easy. ''Third iteration? Have they been at your throat since you started?'' She didn't want any of that. If she put in a commission they better get her costume right on the first try, or there would be hell to pay. ''Cute.'' Was simply her reply to Jun telling her, her hero name. From her tone it was probably difficult to discern if she was being sincere or sarcastic. A spar? Okay, she could do that. Probably. It wasn't showing on her face, but she hadn't been this nervous in weeks. ''No yeah, of course. I'm not out to murder you.'' Not unless Jun backstabbed her after this. While Jun continued she took off her hoodie and tossed it aside, leaving her in a black tank top underneath. Her sparring partner didn't know it yet, but the reason she took off her hoodie was because she liked it and didn't want it to rip in several places. ''How can something make you angry, but you can drop it again immediately?'' That part she didn't understand. ''Well, if today's focus is just control that's fine.'' She stretched her arms, but was quick to point a finger at Jun. ''Senpai, I'm about to transform. I have my own rules too. If you get scared, tell me. If you hate me after this, tell me. I hate people who aren't honest with me. Got it?'' Taking a deep breath she took a few steps forward. She was actually doing this, she was shaking so badly. Could Jun see it? Did she know how scared she was? She stared her senpai down as she let the anger flood into her, her skin gradually turning more and more blue, just like the first time they met in the cafeteria. What wasn't as obvious back then was how much her muscle mass was growing. Some of her teeth were growing too, turning into a pair of sharp tusks pointed upwards. Her height didn't change, she was still her regular short self, but her quirk was telling in that her strength had increased exponentially. As evidenced by the fact that when she stuck her hand into the ground, she was able to pull up a small fist-sized chunk of it, which she tossed at Jun's face with all her strength, trying to test how strong her opponent was. junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... "Lone Wolf...is allergic to work," she says, scratching her head. "I doubt he's watching." She blinked, looking at her suit. "Well, uh. It's gone through different designs. The first one was yellow instead of green, but I hated it. And the second one suffered an unfortunate accident. So...minor tweaks and stuff." It wasn't a big deal to her, if she was being honest. If anything, that was normal in the hero world. She scrunch her nose a little at her name being called 'cute', but now wasn't the time to fight anyone on that. Though Yoko's speal did cause her to pause. It was true, Jun only saw Yoko partially transform. Was it really that bad? She knew some mutants got made fun of growing up, but she didn't understand the full weight behind any of it. Not until she saw Yoko in her troll form. And yeah, Jun had to admit, it did look intimidating and her fighting stance reflected that, but there was more to it: she was analyzing Yoko. The girl held a few inches over Jun, but right off the bat Jun knew if Yoko got in close it would be devastating. The name of the game was distance, and Yoko's opening move gave her even more opportunity to do that. She deftly leapt back to avoid the attack, a ring glowing as a series of chains flew at Yoko. Jun didn't expect any of them to do anything meaningful to the girl, save one: a bolo that was coming in low to entangle her feet. Yanai Yoko

''I see.'' That meant she didn't have to look around herself looking like a paranoid freak. ''Just like me.'' She added quietly. Maybe that was the first cool teacher this school had on payroll? ''That's good to know at least. That they don't care if we mess up the first couple of designs.'' She gave an unenthusiastic thumbs up. She didn't mean for it to come out so backhanded, but through Jun's previous tries at getting her hero suit right, Yoko now knew that failure was acceptable. She didn't even have time to look at Jun's face or read how she was reacting to the transformation, she was running on pure adrenaline and a mixture of anxiety and anger when she tossed that first chunk of rock. She still wasn't entirely sure what Jun could do, other than giant chains so that was exactly what she was prepared for. Little did she know how mislead she had been considering the depth of her opponent's quirk. Smaller chains were no problem, heck she could practically swat those out of the way, but what she didn't expect was the bolo that had been aimed low, which caught her immediately. Growling like a wild beast she immediately clawed at it, trying to either slip out of it or break it all together if she had the strength for it. Whether she succeeded or not Yoko dug her hand into the ground once more and tossed another chunk at Jun. Curiously, despite the fact that she might have a better chance if she tried to close the gap, Yoko didn't seem to move from her spot at all. Instead, she stayed back and made ranged attacks at Jun by using her environment. It wasn't just predictable, but it was way too simple for any self-respecting UA student. junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... The bolos would hold, to Yoko's dismay; while there was a little bit of wiggle room, it wasn't enough to provide a way out. For all intents and purposes, Yoko was stuck. But it was in this that Jun got a better angle to study Yoko. Frankly, she wasn't impressed. Based on the previous discussion Yoko came off as abrasive, someone not to be trifled with, and she had been hyping up her quirk to be this dangerous thing. But the second rock that came flying at Jun's head told her a different story, and it frustrated her. So much so that she decided to let the emotion overwhelm her fear and allow the bolos to dissolve, her rings beginning to glow. "You're going to have to try a lot harder than that." If Yoko took a moment to study Jun she'd see that nervous, nerdy exterior gave way to a focused and hardened look as Mjolnir formed in Jun's hand. She took a running start, leapt up into the air, and threw the hammer with enough force at Yoko to crack the earth, assuming she got out of the way. As she came down a much larger hammer began to form, a two-handed war hammer that Jun was aiming to strike at the troll with enough force to send her reeling. "Show me what you're capable of!"Yanai Yoko

Shit. These chains were a bigger pain in the neck than she had expected. The frustration of not doing well was already making it harder for her not to tunnel vision. She was staring Jun down, but did notice when the bolos disappeared. Still, she didn't move one step closer to Jun and instead paced back and forth. Was this the same girl she had talked to at the cafeteria? It felt like potato girl had left the field and in her place she was facing someone completely different. Was that a side effect of Jun's quirk, or just the kind of person she was? She just growled when Jun told her to try harder, doing her best to not let her emotions run amok. Taking a couple steps forward she hesitated, before backing off again. When Jun threw Mjölnir at her Yoko quickly leapt out of the way, but still not towards Jun as she kept a consistent distance between them. Letting out a roar, Yoko tried to punch the two-handed follow-up hammer out of the way, but would probably only be left reeling as Jun predicted. Skidding backwards, Yoko eventually came to a halt, clutching one of her hands. ''Hell no!'' She sneered, her voice a lot deeper than before and almost completely unrecognizable. Panting for a moment her red, fierce eyes softened for a moment. ''No touch.'' She eased up on her stance, letting her shoulders relax. ''When we first met, you said you don't do touch.'' Just because she was angry didn't mean she couldn't remember, or be considerate. If Jun had upset her, or was a piece of shit then yeah, she would absolutely just have charged at her, but she had no reason to be mad at Jun. ''..So this is how I'll fight you. If you don't like that too bad! Eat potatoes and cry about it!!'' She tore up pieces of the ground again and flung it at Jun in the same way she had before. Yoko was far from a technical fighter and she had never had to consider fighting someone at range before either, so this was all new to her. junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... That singular statement threw Jun off her game. She was preparing to move in again, but the statement not only forced her to stop but also caused concentration to drop on her hammer, the whole thing vanishing. She had sparred against a few people that tried to be considerate of her touch allergy, but this was on a level she hadn't encountered before. Even Kaida would be rough with her, and she was probably the one person that was the most considerate! She pushed herself backwards and limbo'd under the new boulder thrown her way, rolling to the side and getting back to her feet. She's throwing away her only advantage, she thinks, focusing on a new emotion. "Well, if you really want to play my game," she says, a pair of eight pound cannons appearing on either side of her, "then I'm down to play. Tap out at any time." Close quarters was a style of combat that Jun wasn't fond of; people that operated with it had been honing their bodies for years and years, increasing their strength and style. Jun never had that luxury, and as such she resorted to the only thing she knew how to do: overwhelming firepower. And with that, she fired. Yanai Yoko

Yoko's focus was solely on the hammer that was being a pain to face. Chains, hammers? What the hell kind of emotion was she pulling on? Had Yoko lost the emotional quirk lottery by relying on anger? Maybe anxiety was just that much stronger. That, and Jun was more experienced. Sure, she had all the confidence of the potatoes she was so fond of when it came to conversations, but none of that mattered if she was this focused when it really counted. She was glancing between Jun and the hammer when the hammer suddenly disappeared, and with Jun backing up a little further, Yoko relaxed a bit. Was that all? Was her senpai running on reserves already? Served Yoko just fine, especially since she hadn't been working out and her cardio wasn't all that and-... Although her face was that of a monster, she probably looked more shocked than anything when Jun switched up her approach. Chains, hammers and cannons? What the fuck. She was given an out, but after making such a poor display she wasn't about to be some chicken shit coward just because she was about to get bombarded. All she could do in response was grunt and nod her head, hoping Jun took it as confirmation, since she wasn't comfortable talking with her 'monster voice' on and would rather keep talking to a minimum while her quirk was active. She watched in anticipation, waiting for the cannons to fire before dodging to one side, running as fast as she could and only narrowly escaping certain doom. In fact, in the mere seconds she had to counterattack she had a feeling that the next round Jun fired was going to be all she could take. Digging her hand into the ground she scooped up more rocks. Whoever heard of someone bringing rocks to a cannon fight? This dumbass, clearly. Out of breath and pushed to her limits, Yoko first crushed the bigger rocks in her hand into smaller ones, before throwing them at Jun with all her might, trying to at least chip her with some of them so she could say it hadn't been a complete and total loss. junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... One of the cannons moved in front of Jun as Yoko dodged out of the way, the piece turning sideways as Jun ducked behind it in order to use it as cover. While Jun wasn't exactly scared of Yoko's actions, she still didn't want to get hit. The rain of stones that fell on the cannon, while not destroying it, did cause a decent amount of damage. Jun looked over it, letting out a hum. She does have a lot of strength in this form...She'd pull the damaged cannon into the other one, the pair morphing and transforming into a miniature destroyer turret with twin barrels facing out at Yoko. She'd adopt a new strategy. While attrition was something Jun hated doing, in this case she wasn't as worried over her safety and wanted to see what the underclassmen could do. The barrels would take turns firing, not directly attempting to hit Yoko but forcing her on the defensive. She wanted to know what the girl was capable of under constant pressure. Yanai Yoko

Looked like her counterattack wasn't as useless as she had expected after all. If she had known it would do any damage at all she would have attacked that way earlier. Sometimes it didn't pay off to be such a pessimist. Maybe if she followed it up with another she-... She watched in abject horror as Jun's damaged cannon merged with the other and became an entirely new turret weapon. Yoko wasn't an experienced fighter by any means, but what she was quickly learning while facing Jun was that construct users were their own brand of terrifying. At first she thought Jun was just some kind of chain emitter like Gleipnir. She didn't realize that her senpai was essentially a bag full of tricks. Even if she was up close and punching her, she probably still wouldn't stand a chance. Man, these hero types were so annoying. She brought her arms up to shield herself, but quickly noticed that Jun wasn't necessarily going for direct hits like before. Still, being pelted by the twin barrels wasn't exactly ideal either. At this rate she was going to tire her out fast. Turning her attention to the ground, Yoko summoned all of her strength to bring up a HUGE chunk. Big enough to take cover behind as she essentially created a wall for herself, separating her and Jun. This gave her some much needed time to catch her breath as she thought about her next move. She would never win by just throwing pebbles Jun's way, she had to think bigger, better... Looking back at her wall cover it dawned on her. Taking a couple of steps back to give herself some run up, Yoko punched the wall as hard as she could to send it flying towards Jun. Whether it was whole or broke apart in places didn't really matter, this was her biggest attack yet. Hopefully it was at least somewhat impressive, because it was also going to be her last. A fact that became all the more apparent to her as she felt her arms begin to cramp and force her back out of her transformation. Then her legs followed suit, forcing her to collapse on the spot and experience pain she didn't need to feel today. Great. First she was vulnerable and showed Jun her quirk, now she was writhing on the ground like some kind of insect. It was the perfect time for Jun to bully her, and get back at her for all those mean comments she had made earlier. ''I think... This is me tapping out.'' An ungodly chill hit her body, like she had just been thrown headfirst into a raging blizzard. ''Y-Yeah f-fuck this I q-quit.'' She shivered, curling into herself as her teeth clattered together. junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... The cover was a nice touch. At the very least, Yoko was capable of using her environment to her advantage, and that was a good sign! It didn't mean Jun was going to make things any easier on her- Oh, hey, that's a lot of stuff flying at her. Don't panic. Sure, that's a lot, and yeah you can't avoid it all, but...shields! You can do that. Right? She closed her eyes for a moment, the turret morphing once again as Jun latched onto her feeling of compassion. She wasn't out here for her own benefit, she was here for Yoko's. Sure, she wanted to see her quirk for herself, but the girl seemed to be troubled by it. If she could help, Jun wanted to help. And so the turret began to form a shield wall, and the remainder of a stone on her rings vanished as more were added on top of it. It wasn't perfect, but a bubble formed around her, tanking the brunt of the stones flying at her. A few pebbles made their way threw, but they were inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. As the storm passed Jun took a deep breath, letting the wall dissipate as she looked down at Yoko, who was now curled up and shaking uncontrollably. In a manner, Jun was disappointed; she was so used to students coming in, thinking they were all that, and then immediately realizing they were nowhere near where they thought they were. Yoko was different, though. Jun looked around, and finding what she needed she picked it up and brought it over to the freezing Yoko. "Here," she says, handing over the red hoodie from earlier. "I'd dive right in, but I'll give you a minute to get your bearings. I'm guessing this is a drawback of your quirk?" While she wasn't smiling, she did appear to be concerned. The intensity of earlier had passed, and the "nerd" from before was beginning to shine through again. Yanai Yoko

She was about to ask Jun to fetch her hoodie, but she didn't even need to. She desperately accepted it and quickly put it back on. ''Th-Th-Thanks..'' She wasn't usually in the habit of thanking people, especially not people she didn't know that well, but Jun was helping her through what felt like a small emergency at the moment. ''S-S-Something like that.'' She sat up, still curled into herself as she hugged her legs. ''Everything starts hurting, if I go too long I'll freeze and get sick..'' She moved to pull her hoodie up over her head to seek more warmth. While doing so she took another look at Jun and... Was this the same Jun she had just faced off against? Was there some kind of elaborate prank going on where there was two Juns, and they had somehow swapped places just now? More pressingly, Jun looked completely fine. It was disappointing, but also reality. Yoko wasn't someone who worked hard, she didn't even know if she wanted to be a hero yet. Compared to her, Jun was working towards accomplishing her dreams and probably had it all figured out, safe for the emotion quirk stuff of course. ''Didn't get you in the end with that attack, did I?'' It was hard not to hide her disappointment with herself, but she wasn't about to wallow in misery either. ''Your quirk wasn't what I was expecting.'' She wanted to say that it was impressive even, but her own introvertedness stopped her from admitting it. She stared off into space for a second, before suddenly standing up straight. ''Shit.'' She sprinted over and picked up her umbrella, opening it just seconds before rain started dropping on her head. Breathing out a sigh of relief she walked back to where Jun was. ''I think I learned something today. So, if you hate me that's fine. No hard feelings.''junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun nodded, pressing her lips together as she slowly began to think. If the drawbacks were affecting Yoko in this way, then she was unaccustomed to dealing with her quirk in general. It started to make a little bit of sense, beginning to spin the bands on her hands. "In the hero world, information is more important than the ability to fight. A smarter opponent can easily defeat a stronger one if they know what they're doing. I try to keep the full extent of what my quirk can do close: the less my opponent knows, the better. Sorry if I mislead you in any way..." She did feel a little bad. All she showed Yoko were the chains the other day, and she didn't even mention other emotions could drive her quirk. That was entirely her fault. And this only compounded when Yoko went to pick up her umbrella. Her shoulders slumped a little, and she looked away for a moment. Her last comment had Jun look back, tilting her head. "Why would I hate you for something outside of your control?" She reached up, scratching the back of her head. "If anything, I'd expect things the other way. And, uh. I did want to give you some feedback so that you can maybe improve...or figure out ways to work around. You do have a good throwing arm, but clearly dealing with a ranged opponent is unideal for you. I'm still surprised you kept your distance. I know I said I don't do touch well, but when sparring...I can't expect villains to be considerate of that. So when we try again, don't be afraid to pressure me. I've had to deal with close combat in the past, and that won't change anytime soon." While Yoko might be anticipating any other person to push her away, Jun was acting like this might take place again. Like they were going to settle into a routine. Yanai Yoko
