If she was stronger she could have ended all this in the blink of an eye. If she was stronger Mark wouldn't have gotten hurt. She had taken a risk attacking Sieve, but she had immediately regretted roping Mark into all this. The second she saw him walk in she should have dropped her mission and played the role of the clueless civilian.

She tried to yank her blade back, but once the hot net had covered it she knew it was only going to be a matter of time before the metal melted away. ''Don't you think killing us would create more trouble?'' She smirked, feeling confident in her gamble. ''You hardly know either of us, you don't know what kind of connections I could have. Who would come looking if I disappeared in a place like this.'' She was ready to let go of the trapped blade and start fighting with one, but before she could Mark got ahead of her. Letting go of the sword that had been netted she allowed him to take her hand and followed him towards the door and hopefully out into the night. ''Duck.'' She whispered to Mark, before double jumping and using his body as leverage to push off of to kick away a couple of thugs that got just a tad too close to them. Taking his hand again, she smiled up at him apologetically. ''Too sober for a brawl? I should have waited. ~''

Mark wasn't accustomed to working with another person in the field. In fact, his hero name said it all. Just because he wasn't used to it doesn't mean he was incapable, however. Her instruction was followed, and with the way cleared they'd head out the door an into the open air. "Would you believe me if I said I wasn't combat focused?" he says, turning to fire a trio of rounds into the place to dissuade anyone from following.

"We gotta lose them. Up the street, we'll circle back." He was in a level of pain. Mostly in the face, but his side was aching on top of things. He didn't plan on a fight tonight, but he would be stupid if they made for his car right away and even stupider if he left it there. If there was one thing he was good at, it was making an impromptu retreat. "I have wheels, but the less they see of it the better!" And so he'd lead her in the opposite direction, changing out his magazine again as his eyes kept on the lookout for any stragglers. It was hard because it was late, but better to at least try to be vigilante.

She wasn't used to working that closely with others either, but she had been a lot more fortunate that no one had snuck up on her and shocked her in the neck during that brief bar brawl. ''I'd be surprised, with how capable and strong you look. ~'' Even a life or death situation couldn't keep her from teasing him, or absolutely fail to grasp the amount of danger they were in.

Even if she was smiling most of the time, she still noticed that something was wrong with him. ''Mark, you're hurting...'' Her tone was full of concern as her hazel eyes looked him over. ''I'll cover for you.'' She still had her one sword after all. ''If you need me to, I can take us to the rooftops as well. Just say the word.'' She gave him a casual thumbs up. ''By the way.'' She was still smirking as she talked. ''If we die here, I want you to know that I had a lot of fun getting to know you.'' Footsteps were approaching from down the street. ''I also never meant to hurt you. Sorry about that.''

''Where did they go?!'' One of Sieve's underlings growled. ''They can't have gone far, keep looking or the boss will have our heads!'' Chimed in one of the others. ''Whenever you're ready. Darling. ~'' Kokoro smirked up at Mark as she held her sword close, ready to cut down anyone that got in their way.

Rooftops...that'd be a good way to lose their opponents. As the voices behind them began to get closer Mark pulled her down an alleyway, looking around. "Believe me, not my first rodeo," he says, cursing his inability to see in the dark to himself. "Let's not get in a protracted fight. I don't doubt we'd eventually win, but there's more of 'em than us, and the easiest way to deal with 'em ain't exactly kosher. I don't need my colleagues asking me why I fucked up one of their cases by blasting a buncha potential info dumps."

Confident that they were temporarily in the clear, he leaned against a wall, putting himself in a position to help her at least get a head start up. "Let's get topside, wait a bit, and then I'll get you outta here." Though, of course, he had questions for her. Many, many questions.

She was thankful they were choosing the less violent option. ''Got it, hold on tight.'' She sheathed her sword and began lifting him upwards with her jumps, chaining jump after jump together until they made it on top of a small building with a flat roof. Small enough that she could scale it with another person, but tall enough that they probably wouldn't get caught. Once they made it up she was out of breath and panting for air as if she had run a marathon. It really was that much harder to maneuver through the air with another person.

''I suppose I owe you an explanation.'' She smiled apologetically up at him. ''I'm what you would classify as a vigilante, Mark.'' She let that revelation, unsurprising as it was, hang in the air for a moment. ''I didn't just come back to Tokyo for fun, my journey took me back here. I'm looking for a certain quirk.'' She gently moved a strand of hair behind her ear with her hand. ''I have no excuse. I lied to you from the beginning, but the time we spent together, that wasn't a lie.'' She unbuckled the strap she used to carry her sword and sheathes and tossed it aside, leaving her defenseless. ''I'm a criminal. If you think it's best to arrest me I won't resist.'' She put out her wrists. ''If there's anything else you would like to know I'll tell you, it's the least I can do. I'll be fully honest this time.'' She smirked, glancing down at the street for a moment. ''Besides, we have a lot of time to kill.''

Mark took a few steps, listening for any noise the roof might have to give them away. It wasn't too bad, so they could easily slip away so long as they kept low. Turning back to Kokoro, he started to indicate for her to follow only to pause at her explanation. And...well, he couldn't say he was surprised. There was an air of mystery to her the day he met her, and there was no way she was 'just a nomad'. He should know: he too moved around when on the search for something. While it did complicate things, at the very least he didn't have to worry about a knife in the back.

As she offered her wrists out he rolled his eyes, moving towards her. He would take her wrists, but instead of cuffing her he'd pull her in and plant a kiss on her lips. "Don't act so dramatic. Now's not the time for it. 'Sides, I'll cuff you later when no one ain't watching." It was a little hard to see, but he winked at her. Serious as the situation was, there was at least a little room for flirting now that they weren't pressured.

"We can talk more about all this later. My place? Ain't fancy, but at least there's cold beer."

She understood if he felt hurt or betrayed. She wasn't a hero herself or anything, but suppose she was... She would feel pretty upset with him if their roles were reversed. She hadn't quit on her original goal, she was still going to find that quirk, or person she was looking for, but she couldn't fight Mark here. If he deemed it was necessary to bring her in she wasn't going to protest. Besides, she had presumably ruined his investigation too, maybe this self-sacrifice could make up for it.

What she didn't expect was what he did next, their brief kiss sending a surge of positive emotions through her. She was so stunned for a moment that she didn't know what to say. However, she did catch the wink. ''Oh my, are you willing to take a risk like that? I could run away you know. ~'' She giggled, sticking her tongue out at him.

With a sigh she finally let her shoulders drop a bit as she felt the adrenaline from the brawl leave her body. They were safe, there was no more reason to be on high alert. ''A cold beer sounds good right about now. Helps relief some of the pain in my legs. There's a reason I don't use it more often. People who can create constructs or manipulate substances can use their quirk more easily in most cases. Me, I actually have to use my legs and I'm still just human after all.'' Unless he kept holding her wrists her hand would seek out his, giving it a squeeze. ''Hey, you saved me back there. Thank you.''

"Don't mistake my lack of showin' frustration for its absence," he says, letting her squeeze his hand. "But I also know about the story of the moccasins and the million miles. Or something like that." The idiom was something that more than likely wouldn't connect, but his demeanor at the very least didn't show hostility. Despite working on the side of the law, it was clear Mark had a particular interpretation of it that his contemporaries wouldn't agree with him on.

"Guess you should be lucky I was staking this out. Sieve's got a reputation for killing vigilantes." He let out a sigh, rubbing his sore jaw. "Let's make it back to my car. Think any other conversation we have would be better away from prying eyes."
