"It's weird. It's not as bad as you might think, but at the same time UAU is like a police academy. Except like, a million times more intense." It was the best thing he could think of. He set what he was looking for back, sighing. "Maybe. But it's all I knew. And it gave me the skills I needed to do this job. It ain't fun, but it's honest work. Minus some of the lying I do." It was something he didn't think about, but he did take pride in his work. When she handed the file to him he opened it and skimmed the contents. "This looks like the one we're looking for." His eyes glazed over for a moment as he engaged his quirk. There was three people that had interacted with this one recently. One was Kokoro, but as much as he'd love to sift through her last three days he'd have plenty of opportunity to do that another time. That, and he figured the less shenanigans he knew that she got up to, the better. The other two were just passing workers, ones who were just managing records. As curious as he was to dig there, it wasn't worth it. What little information he saw was not making much sense, anyways. His vision returned, and he was gone for only ten seconds. "Let's make a copy of this and get out. I can skim through the contents later." And thankfully there was a copy machine nearby. "Anything else you wanna do today? And does it involve getting out of the suit first?" Implications aside, he really didn't have any other pressing things to do. And it'd be nice to have a day with her regardless. Kokoro

"Long enough that I'm expecting consequences any day," he says, shrugging as he moved to another cabinet. "If it makes you feel any better, I don't have a lot of book smarts, either. Academic types like using big words and long documents to hide their intent, I've just gotten good at finding it."The story of her youth sounded...well, dull. He didn't know how he could even live like that, and might explain why she had some of the tendencies that she did. If anything, she seemed to look back on it with a fondness that he had to admit made him feel jealous. "Well, we barely stayed in one place," he says, flipping through a file. "I was born in Oklahoma, my brother was born in Kansas. We traveled a lot growing up. Mom left us not long after Sean was born. We had to do most of our learning by ourselves. Little math here, little writing there. I technically have a high school diploma." He shrugged, putting the file back. "Didn't help Dad wasn't there when we needed him." Like a miracle, Kokoro would find a file mentioning a "Nemo Smith", though the information in it was definitely dense and hard to understand. Kokoro

Mark nodded at the library comment, sighing. "Tell me about it. Makes me incredibly happy I have little paperwork to worry about. Or...well, I'm supposed to fill these things out at the college, but I tend to not do them. Haven't gotten in trouble yet." He'd looked at two cabinets at a time, skimming over the names available in them. "Nemo. Latin for 'Nobody'. Pretty sure that's Sean being cute. Which means he's put himself in a position where he wants to be found. Unsettlin'." He pulled out a file that looked promising, skimmed it, then put it back. "Well, I am American. If there's anything we love more than guns, baseball, and apple pie it's figuring out ways to fuck our government whenever they attempt to fuck us. In some cases that comes in less than legal means...or in the bad cases, awful but lawful." He paused a moment, looking over another file. "What was it like, growing up in one place? You said it was up in the mountains, right?"Kokoro

Mark looked at Mutou, raising an eyebrow. "You needed two to register I was talking about you? I seriously can't tell if you're deaf and dumb on top of being partially blind. I'll have to mull that over while I have a few drinks with your mother tonight." It was an old jab, but the kid was haughty enough that he might think about it in another way instead of the intended way. Either way, it suited Mark just fine. "Ando. Sorry, you reminded me of another student I washed out of my class two days ago. Regardless, get these two out of here." He made a shooing motion with a hand, indicating he was finished with the three of them. "And I swear to God, if I have to say, 'do your testing outside' away from all breakable things again, you will have a very bad time in No Man's Land. Shoo." There truly was a God, and he had a sense of humor. Mark knew this because he was the butt of every joke that old man told. Looking over at Stellar he gave her a smile and indicated a place to the side as the class slowly got their act together. Some where ready for a fight, others were still grappling with what just happened. The few that had expected this were staying in their seat. "There'll be plenty to observe, especially is people don't answer the question." Or if they didn't pull themselves together. The girl in the pink needed an extra moment to get a hold of herself. And yet, in spite of herself, she seemed to be the only one with any kind of sense. And she was sweating bullets. Literally. Like damn, how useful of a skill could that be? Mark was now jealous, but he couldn't openly say that. Instead, it was learning time. "You! Yeah, you, with the nervous disposition! You seem to know what you're talking about, which puts you one full leg up on all these hero wannabes. Take a deep breath, and enlighten the class." He took a seat on the table, picking up one of the guns and point it...down? Was down right? lonewolf, Stellar, Raven Jakobs,

Mark was by no means amused. When Mitoki stuck her hand in the fume hood and the machine in hand started to go off he just set it on the counter, walking over to the hood, and looking at a switch. "I believe this thing is supposed to be on when you're using it," he says, flicking a switch to turn the machine on. As Mutou started talking Mark turned, holding up a hand. "'Scuse me a moment. When I want to get the thoughts from members of the peanut gallery and the No Depth Perception club, you'll be the first on my list I'll consult." With that out of the way he'd address Mitoki again. "Again, if you're going to test anything related to your quirk, especially if fire is involved, you should go outside. If you need lab equipment, then perhaps you should visit the labs. Ones with proper sensing equipment and people to come in an emergency." The moment Masao burst through the door he had an out to abuse. "Like that," he says, setting a hand on Mitoki's shoulder and indicating the door. "Miss Anzo, would you kindly show the young lady here where the lab is? Specifically the one where some of the quirk research and testing is done? Oh, and tell the support head this one also damaged some of the safety equipment in this room." He looked at Mutou, adding on, "Take Cyclops with you. He's lost." Mitoki Ōno, lonewolf, Haruto Mutou, Masao Ando,

The woman's eyes went wide at that, and swallowing hard she stood up. "R-right, um...right this way please!" Mark wanted to give Kokoro a thumbs up, but he didn't want to take too many chances. He'd wait for them to be alone for the praise. The woman would start to lead them through the building, with Mark making notes here and there about the layout. Looking at blueprints was one thing, but seeing the building itself was another. It gave him an idea who worked where, in the event he needed to come back. Going up a level and into a building near the back, the woman would open up a room that was relatively big, filled all the way around with file cabinets four drawers high. "This is where they keep most of their physical data, sales over the last five years. They do a purge of anything older every six months," she says, fidgeting. "You won't...mention my name in your investigation, will you?" Mark looked at her, taking off his sunglasses and smiled. "Don't worry. We'll say 'anonymous source'. Thank ya." With a sigh of relief, followed by a bow, the woman turned and left. Taking a breath Mark looked around and took out his cheat sheet. "Alright. Now the real challenge." He began walking down the aisle, looking at the labels on the cabinets. "Nemo, nemo..." Kokoro

Mark couldn't help but roll his eyes. "I'd ask you to spell 'assume', but it doesn't have the same impact here as it would in the States." He took the smoke detector, looking it over as he walked over to a table. "Shameful or not, if you're going to tamper with safety equipment you could tell someone like Recall what you're planning on doing. Or barring that, taking precautions to not get caught." As always, he wasn't fond of being in a leadership position. Having to set a good example and all that. What mattered was getting a job done, and doing it right. That said, there was a reason why there were specific training grounds for quirk use. There didn't seem to be a whole lot set up in here for a controlled experiment, especially with this girl being by herself. All the more reason to scold her for tampering with safety equipment, and even more if she had one of those quirks that was a superpower but also a curse and if it wasn't properly looked after it could be a problem. "Have you considered getting two big bottles of lighter fluid and strapping them to your arms? Make like little fire shooters? Or do you care if the bad guys have some hair and skin left when you're done?" Mitoki Ōno

"If you think no one will notice, then the support students have cabbages for heads and the inspectors have turnips coming out of their asses." In the doorway would be every student's torment: Lone Wolf. Anyone that hadn't taken his courses wanted to because of the amount of work they had to do, and anyone that did take his courses regretted every minute of it. He looked at the detector in hand, ceasing his lean against the door way as he entered the room. "As for me, I may have been born at night, but sadly for you it wasn't last night." He held out his hand, indicating for her to hand over the detector, or the screwdriver, or both. "Tampering with safety equipment is also grossly frowned upon, especially within a classroom. If you're looking to build something, there are actual labs for you to work in. If you're looking to test quirk related things, we have multiple simulation fields, not to mention practice grounds for students. And no, your excuse is not good enough. Now we have to call an inspector out here just to fix what you broke." He smiled, one that was filled with sarcasm. "And you can be the one to apologize to him for ruining his Saturday." Mitoki Ōno

An access card, huh? He should ask her more about this person when they had a minute. For the time being there was a job to be done and he had to start getting into character. The walk was fairly short, no more than two blocks away. The building itself was not terribly large, four stories at most. The receptionist was behind her desk, carry out spread out so she could eat and work at the same time; Mark was not the most meticulous planner, but even he knew the best time to catch these corporate types off guard was to strike at lunch hour. While Kokoro's swords were a bit of a red flag, the fake authority they would have might make up for that. As they approached the desk the woman would look up, surprised as she had a mouthful of food and she couldn't respond right away. Perfect. He reached into his coat, pulling free his badge and flashing it. "Good afternoon. I am Agent Smith, this is Agent Myers with Interpol. We are in the middle of an investigation and need to take a look at your records." The woman gained enough composure, looking at Mark and then at Kokoro. "Uh, well, see...I uh. I can't just send you-" "Ma'am, we already know what we're looking for. Shouldn't take no more than twenty, thirty minutes and we'll be out of your hair." The secretary was obviously uncertain, looking over at Kokoro and then the swords at her sides. Kokoro

It had finally happened. Somewhere, someone had put enough pressure on Lone Wolf to run a gun safety course. At least, they had convinced him to run a one-off seminar. The beauty of being a subject matter expert was Mark had full discretion to run it however he wanted. There was a small amphitheater set up near the training areas, and that was where he had told the students to gather. The ones that were interested in this kind of thing, at least. When students began to arrive they would notice that Lone Wolf would be nowhere to be found, but there would be a cheap plastic table in the middle of the theater with all kinds of guns on it: predominantly handguns, but anyone familiar with his evasion course would notice Charlotte along the other weapons; the very same terror that he always loaded with dummy rounds in front of the students before each of his exercises. For anyone unfamiliar with Lone Wolf and his exercises, they would no doubt take this table as an open invitation. After all, as the time came for the seminar to start he was no where in sight. He had a reputation for being laid back and uncaring, going so far as to give out as little homework as possible. Even his lectures were few and far between. To the initiated, this very much was classic Lone Wolf. There was some kind of twist, something that was going to be unexpected. A trap had been laid, and some of the more foolhardy were beginning to approach the table, reaching out to start picking up the firearms laid out on the table. And for those present and familiar, they would be vindicated that this was in fact a trap. From the left side of the theater Lone Wolf would emerge, an old belt-fed monstrosity in hand as he hefted it up, aimed at the students around the table. For those too oblivious or stupid to take cover, they'd start to move the moment he pulled the trigger. Of course, every bullet in the gun was a blank. He checked and double checked to ensure there would be no actual rounds in it. That would be too much paperwork if so much as one slipped through. Either way, he swept the entire area with "gunfire", causing general panic and mayhem in the process. Once the last round was expended he'd stand there, nodding his head. "So that's most of you dead," he says, hefting the gun up as he moved towards the table. "I see some of you have some level of sense about you. Good." He set the monstrosity down, turning to face the class. "I ain't gonna bother with names. Either you knew me from before, or you know me now. What are the four rules of gun safety?" A point blank question, one he knew he was not going to get any good answers to. Some students who had privately asked for lessons knew the rules, either through their own research or trial by fire, but all these kids? There was some thirty students here. He had his doubts.

Mark didn't want to question the anger management comment. Each person had their own personal demons, and if there was one thing he had learned it was that UAU was full of trauma ridden, narcissistic, and troubled young adults. His job was to make sure they were cautious in their actions and to never assume they were completely safe. You know, like an asshole. Her other comments, though. They were legitimate questions. "If there's one thing I gotta urge, it's drilling. 'Practice how you play', something that a lotta football coaches like to tell their players. There's many different methods to adopt and account for, but lets not get ahead of ourselves." He took a step back, indicating one of the closer targets. "Snap the thing shut, and bring the gun up. I'll show you how to aim, and adjust your position for a good firing base." Once she did so he'd move to her side, making minor adjustments so she had a good firing position. He'd show her the back slot and front post that made up the sights, explaining how to line those up and take aim at a target. Once he felt like she had a handle on things he'd step back to let her fire off a few rounds. Yanai Yoko

"Skimmed it. It's all legal bullshit, eyes crossed and tees dotted. If you know what to look for it ain't hard to find the meat of these things." He was downplaying it hard. You had to sift through a lot in documents such as that to find what was necessary. Even then it was possible to miss major details. "Technically speaking, I'm a local hero. I have no honor, or prestige, or any of that other stuff. Getting warrants and all that sort of stuff would take too long, even if I did I'd probably be stonewalled, blah blah blah. I've found it better to skirt authority somewhat by operating as high-level feds that supersedes." He smirked, leaning on the table. "I don't know if the stats hold up as well here in Japan, but in the States the average citizen can't get by without breaking at least three laws a day, one fo them federal. Not sayin' what we're doing is lawful, but sometimes what needs to be done has to go beyond it." He had a liberal view of the law, and most of the time kept to it. There were times, though, when you had to bend things just right to get what you needed. "We can head out now. Place is just down the street." When they got up Mark would take point, heading for the door. "Story is we're with Interpol. It ain't uncommon for agents to work in pairs, one senior and one junior. I could have gone by myself, but as good as I am there is always the worry that I'll miss something. My quirk is great in these situations, but if I'm on a timetable I can easily get lose in the sauce." He put on a pair of sunglasses, looking over at her. "Plus, despite my moniker, having an extra pair of eyes you can rely on can come in handy from time to time. Especially beautiful ones like yours." He wasn't going to discount the eye candy comment, a smirk creeping on his face. "That, and...well not to sour things right as we're starting this, but I looked into what you're trying to find. State has a catalogue of all quirk users in Japan. Problem is, they're all confidential and sealed away. I'm working on a few leads into some areas that are more lax about quirk usage, especially in the north, but...it's slow going right now. Not much of an update, but figured I'd give the broad strokes of what I'm facin'." Kokoro

Mark shrugged. "Casings also pull double duty, absorbing some of the heat once the bullet is fired. Gun barrels are tempered to last, but excess heat is bad. Can calls all the rifling to burn up, could turn the barrel all nice and brittle over time, and those are just a few things. Getting them out soon as possible is important for the life of a firearm." He indicates downrange, nodding at the target. "We can collect them later, when we tear down and make sure the range is all nice and pretty. For now, gimme a few more groupings. Let's see if we can make a few improvements before the day is done." Mark wouldn't be able to help Elijah every minute on this sort of stuff. It was better to start setting up good habits now, when he had the time to help. From then on out, it was a matter of research and practice. Elijah
