Observation, reason, and experiment make up what we call the scientific method. Everyone who dabbled in science and tech research knew this; it was a famous quote for a reason. In Iphi's case it was integral to her character and how she aimed to help the next generation surpass the last one. In fact these particular classes of students showed the most promise among the entire base than any Iphi had seen prior.

In fact, watching this generation grow prompted Iphi to reevaluate a failed task in her past—a super move. Back then, she was focused on forcing her quirk to be something it wasn't and entirely looking into the potential of raw offense, which, in hindsight, was foolish. So once she had spent some time using her quirk at her nearly full potential this time around she had several ideas of where to move forward with it she just need to put it into practice and what better person to bring into her practice than Sadako?

Well she was busy, but luckily Rin wasn't. So calling her to the training grounds on a weekend wasn't exactly unusual but Iphi not only wanted to work on herself but get an update as to what Rin was up to and how she had been enjoying her first year. A social visit with a purpose!

[Rin]

Jogging up to the training field, Rin had opted for a track suit since it would work well for most tasks. If it got too hot she could always ditch the jacket, though she doubted it with how chronically cold she was and her ability to make snow on demand. She had her hair pulled back into the just-long-enough-to-manage ponytail that she often had it in and didn't look any less tiny than she had during her first year. If anything she was probably scrawnier if the extra bagginess of her outfit was any indication. Slowing into a walk the last few steps until she reached where Iphigenia was waiting, Rin gave a quick bow.

It probably still seemed overly formal to most when it was a teacher she was familiar with and had helped her out a lot already, but for Rin it was more relaxed than she usually did since she didn't nearly fold herself in half in the process.

"Sorry if I kept you waiting, Iphi-san." Rin straightened up and gave her best attempt at a warm smile. It wasn't free of the nervousness that plagued her at nearly all times, but she tried not to dwell on them and instead focused on Iphigenia and the task at hand. "Uhm, I hope you've had a good week? And I'm ready to... to help however I can!"

She wasn't sure what they would be doing, not exactly anyways. But past experiences had taught her that Iphi-san was patient and good at explaining things, so she wasn't too worried for once. She knew her own mastery of her Quirk wasn't coming along as well as it should have, and while she mostly wanted to help repay Iphi-san a bit... she admittedly was hoping she could stumble onto some kind of breakthrough herself while she was at it. That wasn't too selfish or anything, was it?

With a genuine smile, Iphi would raise a hand, "Rin, don't worry about it. I chose a weekend so you'd feel more comfortable, and you didn't keep me waiting. You're right on time." If Rin allowed it Iphi would give her a friendly pat on the head. It was hard to see her as a grown-up. When Sadako and her became best friends, she met Rin on family day, and she was only ten at the time. Over the years, they had seen each other multiple times a year, and by now, she had started to see her as her own family.

"My week has been perfectly fine. What about you? How have you been doing?" It had been a few months since she started at UAU, and Iphi hadn't checked in as much as she wanted to; she was particularly busy with this generation of students. Even if their meeting was for the purpose of self-improvement, she was more interested to hear from Rin.

"I'm sure you've heard of Super Moves in your classes. Stellar, a Pro Hero at Maxima, has been teaching some classes as a special lecturer, and truthfully, she's a good friend of mine." Iphi would gesture to Rin to come closer, and then she would pull out her phone scrolling through notes she made. "When I was a student, I was never quite able to manifest a Super Move. Stellar has helped and I believe I can manifest something now. I was hoping we could learn together." She didn't want to pressure Rin but she figured if she came out here she'd want to improve herself as well.

Allowing the pat on her head, head tipping down a bit, Rin couldn't help but feel more at ease. Which paradoxically made her feel conflicted. Wasn't she too old to treat like a kid? But, was a reassuring head pat even something exclusive to kids? There wasn't anything wrong with being reassured by someone you had known since you were a kid, who was basically part of the family, right? Thankfully with conversation to be had Rin couldn't dwell on it too much.

"That's good... and I'm doing fine. Uhm, my week was fine too." She wasn't really lying or anything, just omitting what was pretty much routine for her by now. She just had to power through and keep on keeping on and things would get better eventually anyways, so there was no point bothering people to complain about it in the meantime. Listening to Iphi's explanation about super moves the brunettes eyes went a little wide in surprise.

"I'm... surprised to hear there was something you struggled with in school, Iphi-san." She winced slightly at how that probably sounded, hastily adding: "Ah, what I mean is you always seem so together and capable that it's hard to picture... Uhm, its great that Stellar was able to help you out though and I'm more than happy to try and help too! I'm not sure if I can figure out a super move myself yet but... it's worth a shot, right?"

With a soft smile, she eyed Rin up and down again. "I'm glad your week was fine. Sada said that you've been finding your footing and gaining more confidence." She nodded in confirmation. "I can see why she thinks so." Rin did have a different aura than Iphi had seen previously, and she was very interested to see how far she would ultimately go.

"Of course. Most of my experience has been trial and error. That's the basis of the scientific process and quirks are a form of science." She would tap her temple. "Whether it's my brain power or your snow, there's always a quantifiable process to develop them further." She would place a hand on Rin's shoulder. "We'll figure this out step by step together, so first, what can you visualize when you think of a path your quirk development could take? Something that can help you get out of an unfavorable situation with the tools you have." She may have been explaining this to Rin as if she knew already but truth be told Iphi was at a bit of a crossroads on what path of development she could take herself.

Did she have more confidence? She must have at least seemed like she did if Iphi-san had said so... and she trusted her as a good judge of character. Even if she had her doubts about any real growth she had made, she'd believe Iphi's assessment and allow herself a small smile at the compliment. Listening intently to Iphi, she didn't mind the hand on her shoulder at all. Iphi-san was one of the few people who didn't complain or freak out about how cold to the touch she was. "That makes sense..." She half-mumbled thoughtfully, trying to rack her brain for ideas.

"I guess the first thing that comes to mind is getting good enough to make a mini-snowstorm?" She suggested half-heartedly, not sure how exactly that would be useful for much of anything. Maybe obscuring vision? But she couldn't control wind, just the snow itself, so it'd be her just... throwing a bunch of snowflakes around in the air wildly? Not wanting to give up at just one idea she continued. "Uhm, another idea could be like some kind of snow-cyclone? Since that would be a little denser and could probably move stuff it touched... Oh, do you think making a giant snowman would be useful? Something that could move around and throw punches?"

She tried not to sound too hopeful, but she couldn't help the tinge of excitement that lit up in her brown eyes. If she could learn to do something like that she might actually feel like her Quirk could be useful after all. Then it wouldn't even matter if she was too scared to fight up close or not, or if a villain was larger than her or not.

Rin's sudden interest was great to see. Iphi was happy that she was brainstorming ideas, and with a little confidence and direction, she was sure that she would be able to produce some results. "Snow is surprisingly intricate. I'm sure you know this better than anyone." The inherent knowledge of quirks came in handy from time to time, especially when it came to those with quirks like Rin; they were much easier to understand, given that snow was heavily researched already.

She'd cup her chin. "All of those are great ideas. How well they can be executed is largely dependent on you." She wasn't sure how far along in her training she was but if her progression was anything like Sadako's, she was sure her growth was moving at a rapid pace. "A snow golem might be the best choice. Something that is large should be fairly easy to manipulate, and snow, when packed densely, can be fairly durable. Likely more so than what you're able to accomplish previously." She would pace a bit. "As for myself, I don't have anything I can manifest, but I can control my neural impulses. There might be some way for that to increase my conditioning." It was a theory, but she'd had more than a few hypotheses as to how that would be possible. Now was the time for testing.
