Job interviews are always a odd thing for Zane. People tend to not apply for the Stingray because they really wanted to work at a bar in San'ya. The people that usually apply for work at her bar are just insane enough or are enemies with the yakuza so they were non-starters. Not that Zane was annoyed that people wouldn't show up for open interviews. Half the time, she would get teenagers who should be no where near Izakaya like the Stingray or it was people that would show up for one shift and then leave. It was a vicious thing. It exhausted Zane but she preferred her method of doing things. Finding random desperate people that she would have convinced to be part of quirk experiments back in her Hojo days.
Stretching a bit, she put up her feet on her go to seat at the bar. Hoshi, her bartender, wasn't in yet as the bar portion wasn't technically open. Only the restaurant part of the Stingray was open. It was mostly people on her lunch break. She would dip and out of the kitchen to cut meat but she preferred to just do general cooking. She didn't have that option at the moment though. Her meat cutter quit like 5 months ago and she hadn't found a replacement yet. The perks of owning a business.

[attr="class","alpha"] [attr="class","beta"] "Do you have enough love in your heart,"
"To go and get your hands dirty?" Dai dipped into the Stingray and paused at the door, his golden gaze shifting around the establishment as he took it all in. Unlike his usual more traditional attire, he was wearing updated work-casual clothing fitting of someone hoping to get a job. Except for perhaps the thin black nylon shirt he wore underneath, peeking out of his his dark navy dress-shirt to securely cover his arms and neck. When it came down to it, he couldn't make enough as a hitman when he was so picky about targets. Too often they were people he couldn't justify killing, and so he had been struggling with no proper income. He needed a job. A real job. He wore a neutral expression as he approached the bar, dipping his head respectfully to a woman with green hair that seemed to have an air of authority that he hoped meant she was the owner he was looking for. He had heard the bar needed someone to prep and cut meat, and perhaps his skills with a blade was one of the few times his outdated art could be handy in the mundane world. "Hello, my name is Daisuke Hollow." His voice was warmer than someone might expect considering his lack of facial expressions, though perhaps a little lacking in the confidence department. "I'm here about the prep job." Oh Shit, someone showed up. Maybe those ads were working? Zane wasn't going to dwell on that. She was more worried about scanning the the overall appearance of the person who walked in. Usually, most people that come in for interviews look like they were sleeping in the trash bin outside the bar or they looked like they just busted someone's knee caps. The Yakuza in the area wanted to always get involved with the place. The old owner hated them and she didn't want to deal them. Daisuke looked normal enough, albeit looks can be deceiving. Getting up from her chair, she motioned to the seat that she just left. Scooting behind the bar, she pulled out a notepad from under the bar. Flipping through Hoshi's recipe notes, Zane eventually came to a empty page.
"Hello Daisuke. I'm Matsumea. You can call me Zane." Zane scribbled Daisuke's name on the notepad. "So, have you ever had experience preparing food? We are mostly a yakiniku place so it's mostly just cutting meats and putting them on plates to take out to the customers. I do any of the cooking for the kitchen cooked dishes. Any problems with doin that sort of work?" Zane wanted to get the general vibe of what the person was about. A job like food preparer is a bit of a boring job after all.

[attr="class","alpha"] [attr="class","beta"] Dai sat down in the seat and forced his shoulders to relax as he looked curiously at the notepad for a moment before back to Zane. "Not in a restaurant," He admitted. "But I have experience cutting and prepping meat from a past job at a butchers, so I've been properly trained to use knives." It might not be the true reason for why he exceled in knives, but it wasn't a lie either. He had spent a lot of time at his uncle's butcher shop helping out as part of his blade training before he came to Tokyo. It wasn't glorious, but frankly Dai didn't expect any job to be at this point. Someone had to do it. "No problems with it at all, sounds like a good job." That hadn't been a lie either, surprisingly. Compared to what he had done for money since leaving U.A., cutting up and serving meat sounded mundane and maybe even enjoyable in comparison. He just wanted a shred of normalcy in his life. Well, that is a decent start. Working in a butchers shop usually would provide the experience that one would need to be a food preparer. Most normal jobs would ask for a reference of some sort to corporate such story but Zane hardly had tat luxury. Last time she tried to call references or asked for references, she got ghosted and the person ended up moving on from the job. It was a rather frustrating experience. Hoshi just ended up walking into the job so it ended up working out. She kinda just hoped people that would be a perfect fit would just sort of walk in.
Ignoring those thoughts, she did her usual background questions. "So, obviously, this isn't the nicest area in Tokyo. We have some interesting clientele. Organised crime types, people down on their luck, underground heroes, and locals in the area. It can be dicey leaving at night. We usually close at 4 AM so some unsavoury types might be wandering around. Is that going to be a problem?" Zane would say, writing up some notes to herself.
"Related to this, are you connected to any shape or form to the yakuza? Have you ever been convicted of a major felony? If you have, what was it?" Zane would write some more notes before adding "These are just routine questions so don't feel nervous or anything."

[attr="class","alpha"] [attr="class","beta"] Dai was secretly relieved the woman didn't ask for a reference. Not that he didn't think his uncle wouldn't have done so in a heartbeat, but because it saved him from having to explain himself to the old man first, which was something he was actively avoiding. "No Ma'am, I come from a family that values martial arts and being able to protect yourself so it's no problem." Truthfully he sucked at hand to hand compared to other skills, but he still knew the basics of fighting without a weapon and wasn't really worried about the area. If his family ever found out a common thug kicked his ass... he was pretty sure his mother would show up herself to kick it a second time. He didn't carry their family name anymore, but that would still be an embarrassment. He shook his head and answered no as she mentioned the yakuza. He was desperate but not stupid, and had avoided them entirely while in Tokyo. The second question he could also truthfully answer no, though maybe only by a technicality. The word convicted saved his ass there, from what he knew, he probably only had a warrant. That was a pretty big problem in itself, but at least he could maybe ignore it a bit longer. This is fine. A meat cutter doesn't need to have 20 years of experience at the Stingray. They weren't exactly a high brow place. Yes, the reviews on Google say they're 4.5 Star establishment but that was from people that lived in the neighborhood. The average person in Tokyo would not want to come to the Stingray. Most of the clientele were locals, yakuza or vigilants that needed some info relating to whatever they were working on. "Excellent. We could do a trial week if you can handle the load? I usually arrange deliveries and go to the market for anything extra we need. I have contacts and contracts with fishermen and butchers so we'll be good on supplies. You'd might have to sign a delivery or two but that's normal. Hoshi can help you with that if needed."
Zane pondered a bit before adding "It's about 2,500 Yen an hour. You work usually from 7 AM to 4 PM. Most of the meat just gets prepared and put in the fridge until service. I handle a la carte orders. You basically just bring out the yakiniku orders." Zane leaned back in her chair, before motioning to the kitchen. "We have a back entrance that is on the other side of the building. That's where the deliveries also come to. Do you have any questions?" Zane started to ramble again before cutting herself off. She needed to get a bit better at that.

[attr="class","alpha"] [attr="class","beta"] "That sounds great, thank you." Dai put effort into his tone to sound positive knowing his face wouldn't show it, but he was relieved he'd get a trial and be one step closer to a way to support himself. Frankly the pay didn't matter to him at the moment so much as that there was pay to begin with. It was all well and good to call yourself a 'vigilante' but when it came down to it, it didn't pay for the cost of living. "I think you covered all I can think of besides the dress-code for the kitchen, and.." He hesitated as he wondered if it was a breech in interview-etiquette or whatever to ask the only question he had left, but as he glanced at the kitchen she had motioned to and caught the smell of the food, he decided to ask anyway. "Besides maybe asking if there is an employee discount..?"[newclass=.alpha]background-color:#ffffff;padding:20px;width:450px;[/newclass] [newclass=.beta]background-color:#444444;color:#ffffff;padding:20px;line-height:15px;text-align:justify;letter-spacing:2px;word-spacing:1px;[/newclass] Zane ,

"Dress code for the kitchen is pretty basic. Hair net and wearing gloves while working with the meat for sanitary reasons. Don't wear dirty clothes. That's the dress code." It was pretty normal requirement and she doubted that it would be a deal breaker. Based on how the guy was talking, she doubted it was a turn off. The guy seemed at least a little desperate, at least after mentioning the employee discount. Not that she minded, she is not stranger to being desperate.
"Well, if you are on shift, you get a free meal with your shift. Half off if you aren't working." Zane would state, taking a sip from her drink. Smiling a bit, she pulled a menu from behind the bar. "If you want something, just order it. I assume you want the job? We can just say that you're off today. I don't think my other half would mind." Zane laughed a little, nodding at Hoshi who had just come in. "That Hoshi, by the way. The main bar tender." She would remark, watching Hoshi wander into the employee room.
