It really wasn't as bad as her anxiety was trying to make things out to be.

Miroru had gotten asked to report to Alexandrei's office after classes, a day or two after her session with Demura, testing her under pressure and discussing high-stakes scenarios and the whole power/responsibility parallel. She wasn't sure what exactly Alexandrei wanted to speak about, but after Demura had expressed concerns after seeing her Quirk demonstration (RIP that apartment building) she was a bit concerned. She was... mostly confident it wasn't going to be a big deal, and it was a pleasant surprise that there had been specifc attention given to ensuring she didn't think vaporizing criminals was a useful or appropriate response, even under fire. 

For now, though, she tried to put her anxiousness on hold, and knocked on Alexandrei's office door.

"Come in." [break][break]

His voice was stone cold as the entirety of his disposition was. A blank stare, lax demeanor as he put down his ink pen that he was using to update profiles of the new recent student body with, and a one palette clothing style with a black turtleneck, jeans and heeled boots. Alexandrei was the exact definition of deadpan as his gaze bored into Miroru's, motioning for her to take a seat with out so much of a word to add on with. If he wanted to keep the youth on the tip of her toes, being so mysterious like, he made no indication of such- as in fact, that was how he always intended to act.[break][break]

"Based on recent events since your enrolment," Alexandrei starts, lapsing his fingers together as he draws himself closer to his desk. "I want you to guess as to why I've called you in here today."[break][break]

He's not trying to catch her off guard- in fact, quite the opposite. The astronomer is simply just curious as to what Miroru herself thinks is the problem, and where exactly that problem lay. Could it have been an issue with another student? Failing or passing grades? Or is her quirk really the center of the problem after all, as that's what he'd been called on to investigate? It could have been any of those things, but something in him told him to look beyond such a narrow minded scope of possibility.[break][break]

Then again, it might just be nothing. Anything went.

Miroru winced at the tone in the hero- teacher- the teachero's voice? It was dead chilly, and she fought not to shiver as he spoke to command her into his office. She moved in and took a seat promptly as he directed, briefly wondering about the sight of the hero in such... well, RELATIVELY informal clothing.

And then he spoke again, and her focus snapped back into place.

He gave her a lot of information in the first seven words. It was specifically to do with SOMETHING that occurred since enrollment. That helped narrow her mental search- a visible one that left her forehead furrowed as she examined all the possibilities.

Did it have something to with helping Skald? She didn't think so. She'd stayed entirely out of sight, and just helped her aim discretely while stopping the guns from firing long enough for her to get into melee.

Perhaps the thugs she'd scared off of that poor kid in the alley? No again. She'd hidden herself entirely, presenting as a silhouette with spooky shadow powers. She also hadn't actually done anything TO anybody in either incident, so she strongly suspected that wasn't it.

Was it some sort of critique or warning about Thea? That seemed unlikely. It wasn't against the rules to make friends, even if the friend had scary brain powers- or, as Thea had pointed out, could scrub buildings off the face of the planet with orbital lasers.

Which led to the obvious conclusion, being... the orbital lasers.

"Since I have to guess, I'm going to wager it has to do with the display at the quirk demonstrations? I know it's the obvious answer, but it's the only one that makes sense- I did take time to think about it, and I can't come up with anything else I'd be called to discuss. My grades are good, there haven't been any disciplinary incidents- unless this is about the harassment with the lazy bozo that looked up my skirt?" She shook her head. "If that's it, don't worry about it. It's as handled as it's going to get." She didn't name-drop Sebastian- she wasn't a snitch- and besides, she'd paid Sebastian back handily for the indiscretion. No need to incriminate him as well.

Alexandrei's eyes immediately narrow at her words, albeit only barely noticeably through his expressionless façade. Miroru had only seemed to take his words as matter-of-fact, as well as her own. Whilst he had some concerns about whoever she might have been talking about, the student herself didn't seemed as bothered by the event. "I trust you gave them a piece of your mind," The astronomer comments carefully. "but don't hesitate to come to me if it gets out of hand." Frankly, he was a little frustrated that it had happened in the first place- adults were human, and being human meant being childish no matter the age you were if you hadn't learned right.[break][break]

"And you happen to be correct." Alexandrei concludes. "Quirks can sometimes come off as parallels of the user's personality, or in your case, similarities. Whilst your quirk is brilliant in both appearance and power, I'm starting to wonder if your enemies will feel the same after they're six feet under."[break][break]

He's quite blunt to say the least. But he thought the world was in need of some harsh honesty from time to time.[break][break]

"In this world, the general consensus has come to decide that a hero is meant to be looked up to, not feared," Alexandrei's choice of words make it clear he doesn't agree with the public's opinion, but says it nonetheless. "even if it is by your enemies. We are meant to inspire hope to the helpless, enemy or not. An enemy should not fear you, but look to you as a guiding light away from their misgivings. Even the damned can be allowed redemption sometimes. Fear should be contained," The man's words are icy cold as he scowls at her. "so contain it."

"I did. The score's been evened to everyone's satisfaction," Miroru stated simply. She didn't need to go into detail about how hilarious Sebastian had looked when she blasted him with low-level current in revenge. "But if I have further issues, I'll reach out to you immediately."

The words she got from Alexandrei weren't exactly what she expected, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to shrink into her chair or lash back out. She felt extremely misunderstood (which wasn't uncommon). "Six feet under? I'd only-"

But he continued. Spoke of being looked up to. "Yes, I'm aware, that's why-" Still more, and those last three words settled her reply firmly into fight over flight.

"Excuse me, sensei," she said in a clipped tone. "You seem to be operating under the impression that I am anything like my father. I assure you I am not." She started to count off facts on her fingers.

"The only incident which gives anyone an idea of the edges of my quirk's capability was done in not only extremely controlled, but also *ideal* circumstances. It is not only beyond my willingness to exert that sort of force with any regularity close to something needing containment, it is also beyond my capability most of the time.

Moreover, I do not value violence for its own sake. I have yielded in class exercises where my only options to attain a win involved serious harm to my classmates. I can assure you the same restraint will be enjoyed by any suspected criminals I have to engage.

And third, if you examine my performance and history since arriving at this school, the only situations in which any students were harmed by my quirk as opposed to my physical combat capabilities were one person suffering mild heat exhaustion and-" Pause. She sat back, crossing her arms. "-and one other individual who would have come forward with complaints if we didn't agree he deserved it."

She kept her gaze off to the side, feeling uncomfortable enough to not force the point of eye contact. "I'm not my father. He's the one that likes hurting people. I don't even use my quirk to make electricity because I don't want to be anything like him. I'm not here to learn how to hurt people, I'm... I'm here to learn how to help people work together. So we can move away from the toxic morass that is current competitive Hero Society."

A long pause.

"So you don't have to worry about me containing my quirk," she finished quietly. "Death is not an acceptable conflict resolution tactic outside of immediate necessity to save a life due to zero recourse."

"I'm not judging you because of now," Alexandrei states flatly in response to Miroru's understandable outburst. He wouldn't much like anyone calling him as looking for a reason to destroy either. "I'm warning you because of the future. People, the public, they're naïve. They take everything at face value and don't bother to look past their shallowness because it doesn't involve them, they just want to take their anger out on you because they can and it doesn't affect them in the long run. But it does affect you," The astronomer thinks back to the 'glory' days of his and other aspiring heroes' youths, where vigilantism was put to fame and heroism after, then fighting and blackmailing just to get a podium at the top of the crowd. "so I'm just asking you to keep that in mind."[break][break]

Clearly she had been put through some major amount of grief to exact such a fiery retort to the teacher, and even for someone as aloof and uncaring as Alexandrei, it did make him wonder what evens made her like this. He has her files, of course, but he's not someone to snoop around unless he really thinks there's danger in death- unlike now, where he was just called on by the higher-ups to warn Miroru, and wasn't here of his own volition. "If anything, I'm glad to see that you're dead-set on your goals," He adds on, though he looks anything but happy. "but you sound like you have some things regarding your quirk and... family matters. If I may be so bold as to ask," he lifts a brow. "what seems to be the issue there?"

"Oh."

The reply came immediately as the teacher clarified, and Miroru shrank back into herself, frowning at her own sharp reactions and transparently starting to beat herself up over expressing herself so harshly. "Sorry. Really. I misunderstood, sensei. Please forgive my behavior."

She turned back towards him partly as he shared his logic. "... yeah. I know, that's- why I take it seriously. I want to be... better than that. I want them to know that when they look at me, what they see IS what they get. Someone striving for something better than backbiting heroes exaggerating crimes to sound better and poll higher. I want to be someone that criminals know is going to do what it takes to get EVERYONE home with as little hurt as possible. Desperation drives violence like a stampede."

She nodded faintly. "I'll keep it in mind. I don't know that I could do otherwise if I wanted."

Her face scrunched up promptly upon being asked about her family. "Simple. My father thinks I'm worthless because I didn't inherit his quirk right. So I'm gonna prove I can be a better hero than him without even using his precious electricity. I'll find other, better ways to stop villains." She frowned hard. "He doesn't deserve a -scrap- of credit for what I make of myself."

Miroru seems to reflect her quirk quite perfectly. Flashy, powerful, but also impulsive and brash. He could see there being issues with naivety and gullibility, but that's why she was here- here she was, and here to learn. He would do well to teach her what to do next- and to do it with her own health in mind. "Don't worry about it, Miroru." Alexandrei responds, his tone the slightest bit softer, but noticeably so. "You've shown me your heart is in the right place, at least."[break][break]

He hums after listening to the fox-eared girl's talk of her father. A classic case of family day-by-day nepotism- it's almost comical at this point with how many parents seem to forsake their children these days. Anyone with a powerful enough quirk could relate. He's sure if he ever met his own mother, and his father had been conscious enough from his drunken stupor, at least one of them might have been the same. It wasn't too other worldly to think of people that way. [break][break]

"Hm. The way you talk about him makes it seem like he's going to be a future enemy of yours," Alexandrei says. "so you'd do well to keep what we've discussed in mind. If you can, try and find people who have had similar interactions with their quirks, or with their families. You might find you're not alone in this as you might think, and other people have found ways to cope with such situations. It will help."

"Mmh... if you say so, Sensei," Miroru murmured, clearly still feeling out of sorts over her mistake, but willing to accept the direction to relax all the same.

"Future enemy? He's already my enemy, sensei. He's made that clear since I didn't develop his stupid, brutal quirk like the rest of my brothers." She slumped back in her seat and looked out the window sullenly. "Coming out wasn't any better. He still tells any press that ask about me that he hasn't got a daughter. He does everything he can to undermine my accomplishments and tear me down because what I have didn't come from him and so I'm just- I dunno. Useless to his ego, I guess."

Miroru shrugged faintly at the suggestion to find others like herself. "And how would you go about doing that yourself, sensei? Finding people whose parents dropped them like a hot coal because they weren't useful in supporting their narcisstic legacy? Is there a school club for that? How many of them have to see their abuser in the news every week? If you've got ideas, I'm happy to hear them, but from where I'm sitting, it just sounds like a glib boilerplate response to a situation that's a lot more complex than "find a support group, nerd.""

An awkward pause followed, and she sighed hard. "... not that you put it anywhere near that indelicately. I just- I don't even have the first idea how I'd go about finding anyone with a bead on what it's been like, so to hear that as what's supposed to be some sort of easy common-sense fix just... burns."

I can pay no price too great for justice.

Alexandrei sighs. It's about the most visibly expressive he's been throughout the entire meeting.[break][break]

"It is difficult. We can both agree on that." Alexandrei replies. "But you don't know how it's going to go unless you try. Whilst I would suggest talking to other teachers who are more familiar with this area of emotions, as they are professional heroes as I am, and have done and suffered many a deed in their life. You might find that there is someone like you closer than you think." He follows her gaze to the window. "Or perhaps, if you are not comfortable with adults, you may try approaching the seniors in the school, such as the third or fourth years. Some of them I know quite well, and I am afraid to say that no one is innocent when it comes to misfortune in their lives."[break][break]

Standing up, the astronomer retrieved his coat and journal after pushing in his chair. "If you are not comfortable with any of these options, then you are always welcome to return and talk to me. I will offer advice where needed." He looks at her, azure gaze still devoid of fire. "But keep in mind, Miss Rokuhane, talking with me and me only will lead you nowhere. Your horizons must be broadened from the keyhole you are peering through." He opens the classroom door, leaving. "Good day."[break][break]

Walking down the hallway with the shimmering sun filtering through the window, the ocean like sunny jewels in the distance, he can't help but think if he's lead his student down some misguided path.
