The Rising Sun, Tokyo's newest hero agency, or at least one of them, is desperately in need of - everything - but definitely members. To that end, Deidran, the most electrifying hero in all of showbiz, handed out fliers, posted ads, and even rented a billboard to advertise the new agency and the vacancies in its roster.

It wasn't that Deidran was necessarily desperate or anything, but she had sacrificed her monthly snack budget to get the billboard, so it was at least getting serious.

After several hours of handing out fliers, Deidran had completed her task and slumped down in a rickety lawn chair outside of the front doors of her office, a nice building, very welcoming on the outside, but extremely empty on the inside.

With a sigh, she popped open a bottle of lukewarm soda and sipped at it. She had done her best for the day, so now it was a matter of seeing if anyone bothered to show up. Unfortunately, Deidran didn't have much of a name for herself at this point, so... she wasn't going to draw people in purely on reputation. However, she might get lucky.

While Skald wasn’t the one to actively look into agencies or answer the various calls that she got from time to time from agencies that were looking to capitalize on her consistency, something about this one was putting up fliers, a billboard and posting ads? They hadn’t reached out to her at all; which already put them on a list of curiosities for the kitsune.

Announcing and broadcasting where your agency was could be considered a little too open; villains could attack it with ease but there was that idea of attacking an agency in the first place that would often push people away from even considering that prospect. If there was an influx of heroes the villains would want to stay away right? Smart. Kind of.

Given her patrols were going to be happening later the kitsune put on her hero uniform and decided to adjust it so that it would encompass where the flier said that the agency was. She was faster than most cars anyways so running there wasn’t a problem especially on hero business. Deigning to going across the rooftops it wasn’t long before she’d arrive across the street from where the agency was.

It was a nice building but smelled fresh to her; this entire situation smelled fresh. But she preferred that over a dingey building or one that was swarming with other heroes. She had issues working with others in the past even though she was workable. It was her views on rehabilitation that made this an issue.

Pondering for a moment before heading down the fire escape the kitsune trotted up to the younger hero, their blond hair was unmistakable and while she offhandedly didn’t know their personal name their hero name was plastered on those various recruitment drive papers…

”Deidran right? Name’s Maelstrom. Saw your flyers.”

The kitsune held up the one she had happened by before neatly folding it and putting it in one of her hero uniform pockets. She towered over most people and Deidran was no different. That and she was on a lawn chair so the difference was even greater. You couldn’t pick a different hero that was so physically opposite to Deidran either. They looked like a bright sun compared to skald’s chosen attire.

Deidran lounged around as patiently as she could, but that all changed when a rather large and imposing figure approach. As the shadow fell over her, Deidran looked up and even tipped the brim of her hat back so that she could see better.

She did a quick double-take when she spotted the flyer and bolted to her feet.

"Oh, yes! I am Deidran. It is an absolutely amazing pleasure to meet you!" The much shorter blonde woman certainly livened up real quick. "What brings you here today?"

It may have seemed obvious. Skald was undoubtedly there about the flyer. But was a it a good thing? Deidran didn't know, and didn't want to assume. The other looked rather familiar, a lot like someone Deidran had seen recently on the news, and was likely a pro hero herself, so maybe she was upset Deidran was encroaching on her turf. It could be a whole host of things!

"Uhm, I'd offer you a totally thirst-quenching, hydration-replenishing, energy-providing beverage, but this unfortunately my last one," Deidran wagged the battle back and forth, sloshing what remained about. "I ask that you do the epic thing and forgive me for the breach of stellar etiquette."

[skald]

Skald wasn’t really expecting the other hero to bolt to their feet like that so she’d just have to take a moment to blink slowly. Looking down at the flier and then back to the short blond woman she’d offer a small yet friendly smile.

”Well. You see I’m not exactly part of any agency and most ones that start up frequently contact me first to see if I’d be interested in joining them. Yours is the only one that hasn’t so I figured that I’d give yours a looksies.”

Skald would neatly fold the flier away; her smile and laid back but professional manner was obvious. Maybe from prior training or maybe from some other instance. She was hugely curious about the agency Rising Sun.

”Don’t worry about the drink, I just ate before coming here. Could you tell me a little bit more about your agency? Your goals with it long term?”

Skald tilted her head to one side and gave a little nod of her head; she was not bothered by the lack of drink though she had to wonder why the other may have thought it important. Skald did enough work to know that sometimes it was tight and sometimes it wasn’t.

”Could you show me around the agency too? If that’s not too much to ask.”

Deidran let Skald's words roll over her brain for a moment. "You're not offended, are you? Because that'd be radically awful, and that's totally not my style."

Despite leaving her worries hanging in the air, Deidran turned towards her agency's building, particularly the large logo on the front she had paid way too much for. "Well, The Rising Sun is a super magnificent agency specifically designed to create the most radically epic new heroes to lead this society into an equally epic future!"

She whirled back around and raised her arms up over her head in a sort of grand, all-encompassing gesture. "Super ultra-cool heroes aren't just the mega crime fighters, but need to broaden our horizons to the awesome prospect of being more than just muscle, but heart!" She thumped her chest with a fist at the mention of heart and winced.

Deidran half turned as she massaged her self-inflicted injury and looked grinned at Skald. "So, I shall teach everyone, perhaps even the mega-cool you, that heroes are more than just saviors, we are inspirations to others! Kids look up to us, and they see these super awe-inspiring individuals and believe that they can be just as amazing as us, and that they can make this already stellar world even better if they just apply themselves!"

After her little speech, Deidran struck a bit of a pose, then blanched at Skald's last question. "Uhm... well, you see, I just opened the agency, so there's really nothing inside. The building is almost entirely empty. Not much to show..."

Curiously, as soon as things got awkward, Deidran was a lot less boisterous in her mannerisms, and significantly reduced her use of adjectives...
