If these braves students manage to complete the scenario ahead of them with enough points they will be offered enrollment into the university! How about you be a dear and tell the students what's in store for them! Bobba!" " I won't be a deer but I'll certainly be a human and tell them Jimma! Today our heroic students are going to have to go around the city saving the terrified citizens from the robot menace!" " Ahem, You're not supposed to call them Robots Bobba" " Oh right, I mean the terrifying villain's stalking the streets! The students will receive points based on how many villains they subdue and how many citizens they can save! I hope they're all ready because it starts now!" The doors to ground beta opened to reveal a scene of utter chaos, the streets were torn asunder with cars knocked over on fire, trees littering the ground, chunks of concrete and asphalt jutting out of the ground or torn from their place of rest completely. The buildings shared a similar fate, some of the buildings lay half destroyed exposing pipes, wires and rebar while others lay completely in ruin destroyed by the robot menace all the way down to their foundation. Other buildings managed to survive the destruction only to have flames spouting out of their windows, a fire raging wildly inside them. It was a scene taken straight out of a movie about the apocalypse and rightly so, without the heroes help this certainly would spell the end of ground beta. As soon as Thea, Jack and Marlene along with several other hero students passed through the doors they would be greeted to the screams and wails of the civilian volunteers who would be playing the parts of the victims today. Choruses of " Help me!" " My leg!" I can't move!" Oh no...I'm stuck...whatever shall I do" Echoed throughout the grounds some of the civilians were clearly better actors than others as the pleas of help ranged from frighteningly believable to not even trying. To make matters worse the streets were littered with robotic villains ranging from Small little guys to larger more frightening ones and even a few deadly ones that imitate more adept villains. All of them earned the heroes points but varied depending on difficulty. It was up to the trio as well as the other students to save the civilians and defeat the robots to earn enough points as possible in order to get admitted to the elite college. God, was it normal for someone's throat to be this dry? Jack found himself swallowing down a whole bunch of nothing in an attempt to at least make his anxiety not completely unbearable. Granted, he at least tried to assure himself that this was probably normal, given the circumstances. Even being given the chance to attempt U.A.U.'s Entrance Exam was something that not everyone could say they could do. He had basically worked his whole life just for this one moment, this one chance...
And now, here he was. Sweating bullets and wishing he had a water bottle right about now. Lord, what would Skald do in a situation like this? ...Probably call Jack a big nerd and try to remind him of his pride for at least a second.
The dragon boy shook his head, trying to get his act together as he would look to the crowd of students around him. Each one gunning for the same chance that he was. All here for the same end-goal, for one reason or another. Money, fame, even a smidge of power...or, in Jack's case, the chance to shine bright. Not just for himself, but his family, and for the people that he hoped would look up to him someday. Hopefully. But, it all starts here.
Partially to hype himself up, and at least rally all of the other students together, he would look to the crowd and pump his fist in the air, smiling brightly. "Good luck to everyone!! I hope we all do the best that we can!!" he cheered, hoping that at the least people would join in with the enthusiasm.
Whatever the case, soon after, the doors in front of the crowd would open, revealing...well, chaos. And not the Jack kind. Admittedly, he couldn't help but whistle, impressed at how far U.A.U. went for their exams. An entire city basically burning to the ground, with a robotic army being what stands between the students and plenty of people in 'danger'.
Honestly, all that anxiety Jack had felt before suddenly vanished, like a switch had been flipped inside his mind. It was now or never, so it was time to start acting like it! Along with the other students, Jack would rush right into the fray! Activating his Quirk, that dazzling cosmic aura burst to life around himself as he would land right in the middle of a crowd of robots! "Hope you don't mind me crashing this party!" he exclaimed, before spinning around in a quick motion, slashing his arms and sending out a blade of Chaos Energy slicing around him, cutting a fair few robots right in half! Obviously, were they people he wouldn't use a lethal technique like that, but...hey, they were gonna get destroyed anyway. May as well cause his own bit of Chaos.
As he cut down that first wave of bots, Jack would rush over to a couple of the volunteers, helping one person out from behind cover, smiling warmly at them as he did so, and helping another that was fake cowering from the crowd before. After a brief exchange of thanks and making sure everyone was ok - hey, even if the scenario was fake, things can happen - Jack would quickly go back on the move, ready to cut down any foe that stood in his way!

Among the three students taking this exams, stood one.
An unassuming girl, barely 5'3'', wearing a simple white and green sports suit. While the others might have felt anxiety or even fear of what were to come, there was not a single emotion written on her face. Apart from idle curiosity. This was not Marlene's first exams she took to enter the UAU. In fact, it was her second attempt. The first one was very similar, in many ways. There too, were robots. There too, were people to save. Only with a few key differences. She was made of flesh and blood. She was much more anxious. And, in the end... she died.
It was an accident. Not the robots glitching out, nor was it teammates hitting her with a stray shot. It was just... a piece of debris falling on her. She remembered the event well. From a third-party view. No emotions were connected to the memory. Only knowledge. Marlene was better now. The powers were still there. Only the body was made of metal. Capable of withstanding even the harshest of punishments.
She knew her mother-creator was watching. This was the first step towards her goal. Their goal. She would pass, for this was her purpose.
The automaton girl assessed her allies. One was boisterous and eager to engage the machines. He shot brilliant rays of energy, which slashed through the weaker droids like hot knife through butter. The other one was a girl of unknown qualities. She did not look particularly strong, but appearances were deceiving, here. Still, each one had a role to play.
"Hello." - Marlene greeted everyone, though her attention was focused on the girl, as the boy had already ran forward. "I will defeat the robots in my path and help pull the injured individuals out. Can you bring them to safety?"
As she asked, one of the weaker bots made a beeline to her and clocked Marlene on the head. A metallic thunk rang against her, but she did not flinch, nor move. Instead, she turned around and returned the favor. The machine lost its head and fell to the ground. More were coming. Marlene walked towards them, and delivered swatting hits to each and every one. Their heads and torsos caved in, as they tumbled back and fell. Approaching one of the hostages, their leg stuck under a pillar, she lifted it with one hand, and pulled them by the collar away, with the other.
"Be not afraid. My teammate will take care of you."

Okay, this was honestly just really fun.
As the chaos of the simulation swirled, Jack found himself quickly getting into the rhythm of attacking robots and saving people, like it was all something he had done before. The longer he went on, the more confident he was feeling in himself, even as some of the stronger robots started to give chase to the dragon boy. Admittedly, as strong as the boy was, he knew he was also still lacking in the actual defense department, so he was quick to book it from the general area, though not before grabbing one more 'survivor', making sure they were ok and carrying them towards the entrance to safety.
As he would do so, though, he noticed that at least a couple of robots were rather persistent with their chase, quickly cornering the young dragon on about 3 sides. Jack snorted a bit as they would close in on him, a hand to his hip and a cocky smirk on his features. "Y'know, I'm pretty sure there's a joke about robots here, but I think it would just be talking to a metal wall." he quipped.
As the robots would charge right at him, Jack would swiftly jump up into the air and pointing a couple of fingers downwards towards his assailants! From them would emit a quick flurry of energy shots, firing towards the robots and destroying them with a starry explosion! He would grin, before realizing that the force of said explosion would basically send him flying, and not in the good way. "CRAP! BLASTING OFF AGAAAAAIN!"
Being thrown a fair distance away, Jack would find himself landing towards the general area of two of the other students, at the very least rolling so he didn't crash face-first into the pavement, rather falling and sliding on his back a few feet in front of the two emotionless-looking girls that he had been next to when the exam started. Laying on his back for a second, looking more amused than anything else, he would greet them. "Hola. How's it going for you two?" He asked, mainly just making quick conversation as the small dragon would get himself back up.

Marlene's head tilted towards the other girl, as she helped three people to safety, while muttering about having it all figured out.
'She must have it all figured out.' - the automaton girl drew a conclusion. 'I should follow her lead.'
Marlene did just that, standing still, standing guard, while the three hostages were rescued. Sounds of fighting and explosions were coming from a different part of the battlefield, where their teammate had run off to. Soon enough, he appeared, in an arc of smoke following him, as the blast brought him over to the rest. One way or another, they indeed had regrouped.
"Hello. Everything is going alright. We have not lost a single casualty, yet." - Marlene replied to the boy, as he looked at her upside down. Her observation was accurate, if somewhat morbid. Reaching down, she grabbed the dragon-boy by the collar, and helped him up on his feet. Despite being relatively small, the automaton girl was strong enough to lift a person up like that with one hand.
Just as the three of them regrouped, so did some of the robots, running from around the corner. These seemed more well-armored than the rest. They were led by a robot colored in rusty red, likely to inspire fear in targets. And ... he had a gun. Marlene moved forward, putting herself between these and her companions, just as a few blaster bolts were shot their way. Both hit her in the chest, making her stagger slightly. The shots burnt holes in her uniform. Still, not a single muscle twitched on her face.
"Hello." - Marlene greeted the robots, with a serene, neutral expression. She then walked towards them, hands balling into fists. One of the well-armored robots charged and tried to wrestle her. The girl caught his hands into his, the two machines fighting each other to a stalemate. She would need help, though.

[attr="class","skullbody"]The exam would give no pause for debriefing as machines continued their assault on Marlene, who was oddly undisturbed by the bolts pelting her torso. Thea pondered for a moment between breaths if she would be able to take tht kind of damage. She quickly deduced that while she'd probably survive, she'd never be able to take it in the same stride as Marlene. "She's just built different, I guess." Thea thought idly as she sprinted.[break][break]
"Cover me," she commanded of Jack. There was no way for her to stop the two remaining machines from approaching, Thea had no choice to rely on the dragon boy for cover. Considering he alone had enough personality for the three of them, Thea assumed he had the energy to manage this too.[break][break]
The mentat slid to a stop, placing herself opposite Marlene as she sent reams of capture tape flying through the air and around the machine's forearms, adding her strength to Marlene's and tipping the machine over and sending it crashing into the ground. Unfortunately, Thea lacked the strength to finish the red robot as it thrashed on the ground and would have to let another deliver the final blow.[break][break]
"Listen up," she raised her voice so that her allies could hear her, "There's two dudes waiting in the wings. They're gonna jump us as soon as it looks like we're gonna clear, so save your strength. I also know where all the actors are. Follow me and we'll pass this easy." She growned as the red robot's strength began to overpower her own. "Can one of you kill this fucking thing!?"[break][break]

Thea was of course right, she had gained almost all of the information from the briefing that the victim had been given before the exam began. There were two villains hidden somewhere in ground Beta waiting to surprise them. But what Thea didn't know was that they were also listening to everything the students said to one another through the robots. It was necessary for the examiners to be able to hear their future opponents so that they could make adjustment to the exam on the fly. Another unfortunate event for Thea was that when the old lady she rescued just heard "Robots" And didn't listen to any details that followed their descriptions.
Thus it should have surprised the Mentat when two larger robots came crashing down into the middle of ground beta. Both Giant machines where spherical in shape with many limbs and one large eye that moved around rapidly assessing the field. A second late the two red eyes glowed red as they took direct control of all of the other robots, issuing them commands. Originally the two mechanical behemoths were supposed to organize the attacks of the other robots on the prospective students but the two hidden villains had a better idea, a twist that would up the intesity.
Barring the Robot fighting the three students, every other machine on the field turned away from them and began to abduct the trapped and helpless civilians. Of course if the heroes got close to them they'd turn around and fight but the ones that had already snatched up a helpless victim would use them as body shields in order to evade any damage. The robots would never actually hurt any of the victims in their care but if the prospective students dared to hurt any of them while taking out the machines it would almost certainly constitute as an automatic fail. Thus the heroes would have to figure out how to rescue the victims from the rampaging robots or take out the gigantic ones controlling them and ending their coordination. First they'd have to figure out how the things became so organized in the first place.

Well, these two were definitely more of a monochrome pair, Jack noticed. One hardly said much, and the other, while giving good news, said so in a rather morbid manner. The dragon boy would raise an eyebrow at her, about to comment on the statement before she would hoist him up by his collar, admittedly making him stumble for a moment. "Atchtchtchhhhh! Thanks for that, but I also ain't that heavy," he said, shaking himself off. "I mean, hey, no casualties is good! Be surprised if someone actually died from one of these..."
That being said, the trio would quickly be surround by another wave of the bots. The smaller ones were no issue, but the lead would be the one to charge at them head on! Before Jack could move to intercept, the red-haired girl got in front of the other two students, taking two shots head-on! The dragon boy flinched briefly, about to approach her and make sure she was ok, but apparently she was tougher than she looked at she would begin to grapple with the red robot, while the two other weaker bots would begin to close in!
The black-haired girl, who seemed a bit more brash than the red-haired one, would order Jack to cover her as she would go in to assist the latter. Jack smirked, his eyes narrowing a bit at the sudden order. "Well, since you asked so nicely," he muttered, before pointing his hands like finger guns towards the two weaker bots. Charging a shot in both hands, he would fire at both of them simultaneously, getting one straight through the head, and the other with a gaping hole in it's torso as both collapsed. Not the most perfect of shots, but it got the job done, at least.
He then watched as the black-haired girl would help bring the red robot down, though it seemed they both couldn't finish the job. Jack didn't need to be told even once - he would charge in as she would be making her declaration to stick together, and yelling about someone killing the robot. Luckily for her, Jack was quickly on it as he would leap up above them, letting energy charge in his left leg, and slamming down right into the robot's torso, the sheer power of his Chaos Energy crushing it like tin-foil. "Whew! That was TIGHT!" he cheered, dusting off his hands and shaking his legs as he would smirk at the other two students.
Not that he had long to celebrate, as it seemed like the next phase had just begun. In the middle of the arena, two large, spherical robots would crash down, and all of the other robots would begin to shift their attention from the students, to the actors! Jack grit his teeth, assessing the situation. He would look to the black-haired girl for a moment. "You said two 'villains' were waiting for us, yeah? What're the odds of them controlling those two new ones, d'ya think?" he asked, already starting to walk as more dark blue and star-glistening energy enveloped him.
As she would reply, Jack would start to turn his attention to the smaller robots, of all things. "As dangerous as the two big ones are, our priority should likely be the people first. Property is replaceable, people are not. Take care of a bunch of the smaller ones first, then we'll focus on the big ones!" he said, before charging into battle once more!
He grimaced as the robots would face their hostages towards him as he closed the distance. That was a risky play, even for a test run - realistic, sure, but dangerous. Should it have been someone without proper Quirk control, people could legitimately get hurt from such an action! He made a mental note to chide whoever's bright idea that was.
Fortunately, Jack isn't without control. As he approached one of the robots, he would fire off a blast, before redirecting it sideways just as it would get even remotely close to the person itself, the blast swinging it's way around and shooting the robot right in the head from the side. As the person would drop, Jack would be there to catch them. He would smile and make sure that the person would be alright, and apologizing for the quick fright, before sending them on their way and heading right back into the battle!

"Be surprised if someone actually died from one of these..."
"They did."
She did. But it was a story for another time. The red robot was defeated, and so were its diminutive friends. But for whomever ran the simulation, it just meant that they should kick it up a notch. Soon enough, two sphere-like machines crash-landed in the area, and assumed direct control over robots. Marlene looked at them without as much as batting an eyelash. Just as they were assessing the threat, so was she. Unfortunately, not everyone took the time. The dragon-boy decided to spring into action, save the people, whatnot.
"The big ones are controlling the small ones. If we destroy the big ones, they stop holding people hostage." - the automaton girl stated, but the hyperactive fellow already flew off to be a big hero. She looked into his direction with a bit of disappointment. "Also, you could replace people by birthing more." - she muttered under her breath. The choice was between trying to save people and getting them recaptured, or trying to destroy their "command and control structure". But they could not do both. These machines seemed bigger than Marlene. Stronger too. She could not do it alone.
So, she chose unity of force over tactical sensibilities. Following Jack's witless lead. Her approach to freeing people was much simpler, though. As soon as she approached one of the machines holding a person, she extended her hand. Wisps of energy shot from the fingertips, connecting with the metallic appendages of the enemy. Their fingers and hands becoming disassembled, and falling down on the ground harmlessly. Freeing the person in question.
"You are free to go." - Marlene says, before punching the robot. Caving his head in with a single blow.
"We should change the priority to the big robots." - the automaton girl insisted.

[nospaces] [attr="class","skullhover"] [attr="class","skullimg"] [attr="class","skulltitle"]間違い [attr="class","skulloverlap"]How do we forgive ourselves for all the things we did not become? [attr="class","skullbody"]Something about Jack taking the lead sat wrong with Thea on a visceral level. Part of it was she simply didn't like taking orders. The other part of it was Jack's exuberance was like nails against the chalkboard of her mind. Though she could not bring herself to doubt his efficacy.[break][break]
"They're probably not controlling anything. Just waiting in the wings like some sort of X factor. Though I'm sure they can hear us now. The cowards." She wanted to mock them in hopes of drawing them into action sooner. Machines were far outside the Mentat's skill set, leaving her no choice but to take the back seat and support her allies. But living minds were her domain, and she was going to make damn sure she got into UAU.[break][break]
She made no comment about the deaths that had occurred in past tests. She'd taken the memories of dozens of previous applicants before applying to the school. She knew full well that despite every precaution, these tests were not to be trifled with. She realized it was probably that she alone may be the only candidate aware of even the finest prints in the waiver they signed and those of the professional victims.[break][break]
Swaths of machinery fell to the floor as Thea watched her allies dismantle the machines with ease. She reminded herself that while their cooperation was doubtless part of the exam, they were still her competition. She gathered the escaping survivors and gave each a pat on the shoulder or the arm. A boost of confidence, a shor of courage, and the route to ensure their safe exit. Once that was done, the mentat sprinted into action. [break][break]
While she couldn't fight any of the machines toe to toe, their exposed backs gave her the opening she needed to navigate reams of cloth other the back plates of two machines and pull their emergency off levers. She wasn't quite sure how the judges would score it, but they couldn't blame her for using every tool at her disposal, even if it was information she shouldn't have. That sort of information was her specialty. [break][break]
"you take the big ones. I can buy the victims time," reams of cloth spooled themselves around her arms again as she moved to help and elderly woman out from under some rubble. "Fighting the big ones isn't my place here."[break][break]

Jack couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the red-haired girl's reply. He assumed, at based on what little tone she had, that there was a story there. He probably should have done a bit more of his own research into incidents at UAU, but...well, admittedly he didn't have time to between everything. Something that he decided to rectify in the near future. Maybe it was something that could help him identify issues later down the line, he thought.
But, enough of the wondering. He would turn back to the black-haired girl as she would explain further about the villains most likely hiding. Despite the obvious disapproval of the tactic she had, Jack would simply smirk in response, already feeling more pumped up than anything else. "Ah, c'mon now! Just means there's more fun to be had towards the end, yeah? Let's go out with a bang when it happens!" he cheered, before finally leaping into action and aiming to save more people.
...At least, that was his plan, though it seemed like both of his teammates were more insistent that he focus more on the bigger robots. Especially as Thea would assert that she could handle the smaller ones, and Marlene would insist further on focusing on them. "Ay ay ay...fine, fine. Just holler over if you need help, alright?" he said. He knew that they were technically opponents, but leaving a person in the dirt if they needed help wasn't his style. Which was why he was so insistent on going after the small ones first to begin with.
But, if he's going to be the powerhouse here, he may as well go for it, he supposed.
He would launch himself over towards the direction of the bigger robots, letting more Chaos Energy swarm around him, mainly collecting around his arms. "Sheesh, at least they ain't making us feel bad for trashing a buncha robots," he mentioned, noting the sudden shift from the more humanoid bots. Ah, well. Made things more interesting, anyway.
He would start to run around the general diameter of the area, firing a shot towards the right robot's head to get it's attention. If he could get it to start coming at him...he may have some luck in trying to get onto it!

Change of plans, once again, it seemed.
The dragon boy now decided to go after the big bots. It behooved Marlene to assist. But... what to do with the third girl? She was uncertain as to what her power was, or how safe it would be to leave her to deal with hostages on her own. Still, she seemed to be the smartest of the three, 'having figured it out'. She would be fine.
"I will move to assist."
The automaton followed Jack, towards one of the large robots. Upon approaching the other one, she extended her hand out, and guided the yellow wisps that emerged from her fingertips, towards it, toward that red eye. She did not have the capacity to disassemble something that big. But she could disassemble the components that made up its visual organs. The red eye would blink a few times and fade, disconnected from the main frame.
Now would be the automaton's chance to strike. Gaining speed, she rammed her shoulder into the machine's side, her 450 lbs of mass multiplied by twice her speed, divided by two, all slamming into the robot. And it was anyone's bet to say which one was more durable. Marlene was a very durable construct. She'd leave a dent, and the force behind the blow would likely make the giant bot topple over. Making it more vulnerable to subsequent attacks by the rest of the party.

[nospaces] [attr="class","skullhover"] [attr="class","skullimg"] [attr="class","skulltitle"]間違い [attr="class","skulloverlap"]How do we forgive ourselves for all the things we did not become? [attr="class","skullbody"]Numbers turned against the mentat quickly as the machines continued their attempt to capture the actors and drag them away. She lacked the raw power to fight them, but Marlene's observation was right; Thea was the smartest of the three, even if only by a technicality. [break][break]
The mentat sprinted around corners and through buildings. It was a race between her and the robots; only she knew where every actor was stationed, something that the robots' movements made clear was not part of their programming. But despite her greater speed, the machines had the advantage of numbers, and eventually, numbers triumphed over the mentat's ability to get ahead of them; instead, she was forced to fight them head-on to save the last group of hostages in this area.[break][break]
She launched capture tape at a pair of machines only to find a third machine waiting in the wings for her as it drifted around the corner and intercepted her tape. Mechanical hands clamped around the cloth as the machine spun around, pulling Thea through the air and sending her rocketing into the nearest wall. [break][break]
Thea slid down the wall only to see a pair machines approach her and back her into it. Their fists raised as a flurry of blows began to rain down on her. It was all she could to do dodge or turn devistating blows into glancing strikes. If these were human, she'd wear them out one punch at a time, but machines had no stamina for the outboxer to contend with. Instead, she had no choice but to take the hits as they rained down on her and wait for an opening to get behind them and turn them off for good. No such opening came, and the third machine continued its patrol for more victims. [break][break]
Pain shot through Thea's nervous system only to be met with a wall of sensation from her controlled delusion. The relentless beating was reaching levels she'd not expected this exam could reach but she had no choice but to endure until the perfect moment. Both machines raised their arms as their flurries synched up for a single strike. Battered and bruised, the mentat knew she couldn't survive the blow without excluding herself from the rest of the exam. Instead, she pressed forwards, attempting to pass under the machines in the singular moment when their arms and torsos were out of the way. Time warped under her perception and the fraction of a second that passed felt like an eternity in her minds as she watched the fists pass just over her head while she escaped the corner and prepared a flurry of her own.[break][break]

As the robot Jack was attacking started to take aim at him, the small dragon boy made sure that it's attention was solely on him. Sending out a bunch of smaller blasts that would explode in a flash of of light, he would still make himself a moving target - one hit from these bastards and he would be hurting, to say the least. Still, he took a deep breath and focused, not letting himself falter even at the thought of that. His heart pounded in his chest, especially at the thought that there was still more after this.
But, he supposed, that's just what heroes did at the end of the day.
At the giant robot finally aimed one of it's many limbs at him, Jack would jump up at the last second, landing right on it's leg and making his way right up it! He wasted no time in getting up to it's head. "'Sup, bowling ball! Hope you don't mind me hitching a ride?" he taunted, assessing the situation from above for a moment. Marlene has one robot toppled over, which was good. At least she didn't seem to need a whole lot of help. Thea, on the other hand... seeing her run from a bunch of smaller robots briefly made Jack grit his teeth, the guilt of letting her be by herself eating at him.
"No, no...this is what she wanted. I'm sure she got it figured out..." he muttered, shaking his head and refocusing on the robot he was on. One thing at a time, he thought.
Finally, Jack would jump up again, his hands filling with starry energy as he would aim down at the robot. "TAKE THIS!!" he yelled, before facing his hands forward and blasting right thought the top of the robot with a radiant beam, piercing through the bot like it was butter. As the robot would collapse onto itself, Jack would heave a sigh of relief as he would fall back down onto the remains. Sliding back down, he would finally take the second to breathe, deciding at the least to let the other two finish their challenges before the finale.
Man, he kinda wished he had brought a drink to this shindig. He was parched!
