The youth, filled with exuberance and hope, had gathered for a momentous day that would decide their futures. The power to shape that future was in their hands, but ultimately, the decision would not fall upon them. They would have to prove to others that they were worthy of UA University. If they could, they would become part of the next generation of heroes, but if they failed, they would be turned away. And there were so many of them... Some three dozen applicants were gathered at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, UA's specialized training facility, and only a handful would pass this point. It would not be easy, but being a hero wasn't easy. It would not be safe, because the life of a hero never was. " Thank you all for joining us today," the proctor, a older hero in a finely tailored suit by the name of Mr. Finesse, greeted the assembled students with a flourish and a bow. " It is our pleasure to once again host UA's entrance exams, where the newest heroes are selected for our great establishment!" He righted himself and promptly flipped a tablet up to read some information as he spoke. " Today's examination is a simulation of an urban invasion by a villainous mastermind and their robotic army." Mr. Finesse began pacing back and forth atop the elevated platform he was addressing the hopeful students from. " To facilitate this, we have prepared a city district which is currently brimming with opportunities to prove yourself to our fine judges. When disaster strikes, it is often indiscriminate, and it is impossible to say what most villains have in mind when they begin causing problems, so there are a wide range of situations being simulated within these streets." " You will find civilians trapped, in danger, and fighting for their lives - but not really in danger, these are all volunteers, of course!" Mr. Finesse added that bit of clarification in such a way that it seemed almost an after thought, but a very serious one. " The primary threat is a series of three drones. The Harasser is a flying drone armed with a pair of automatic rifles firing rubber bullets. They won't kill you, but you'll certainly remember being hit! They're fast, they're agile, but they are fragile!" He turned to a white screen behind him and a projector put an image of the Harasser up, which looked a lot like a flying Roomba. Mr. Finesse gestured and the image changed to a more humanoid looking one, perhaps a bit in common with a gorilla. " This one here is the bandit. Strong, durable, but not very quick. Dumb, too, but they will cause some trouble if you aren't paying attention." " And then last, but not least, of the trio of goonies, we have our beloved Rex!" The image changed to a canine-shaped quadrupedal robot. " Man's best friend roams these streets in packs, and unfortunately, they aren't your friend! They are quick and will use numbers to overwhelm, so keep your wits about you if you run into these furless critters." " Defeating one or more of these drones will net you points. They aren't worth a lot, but it adds up. Saving someone from danger will also be worth points, and they were worth more than one or two of these robots," Mr. Finesse switched the display again to show a much larger robot. " These mid-boss looking bots are the Brutes. They are bigger, stronger, and obviously, more dangerous - they are worth more points because of it, but taking one down on your own will be a challenge. They are a great opportunity to show your mettle, but they are optional." Mr. Finesse completed a series of fancy spins and then held up a hand to the display. " And what would an invasion be without the mastermind!" The display changed to a silhouette and a large question mark. As the display changed, Mr. Finesse consulted his tablet again. " This villain is played by a volunteer hero, and let's see..." His voice caught in his throat and he coughed as if he forgot how to swallow properly. " Ah, yes, as you can see, their identity is hidden for now, but uhm - they are purely optional and you do not need to engage the villain. They are worth a lot of points if you can win, but do remember, no hero can best every villain, and playing it safe is sometimes wiser, especially when other lives are on the line." The display went blank and Mr. Finesse lowered his tablet. " The exam will run for two hours. Once it is complete, you will hear a siren. You may work together, you may work alone - you get nothing for interfering with each other or fighting among yourself, so keep that in mind. Part of being a hero is cooperation!" Mr. Finesse pirouetted elegantly and pointed off towards the exam grounds as a horn sounded. " Begin!"
OOC: Once you enter the city you will be presented with challenges at random, made up on a whim. Some will be difficult, some will be easy. I guarantee no success in any endeavor. You may retreat, you might fight to the end, you are not obligated to do anything. Sometimes, wisdom indicates that it is best to move to a more manageable situation. There is a hidden villain that will pose an unknown level of threat until the time they are revealed. They will be revealed at random, and every post that someone makes will have a chance to "spawn" this volunteer villain for the ultimate challenge. The Drones have mostly C-level stats. Brutes are mostly upper B level. We will continue until we get bored or we complete (or fail) a few objectives for each person. If you are *not* together and therefore do *not* require other players to post for you and there doesn't seem to be any indication that there will be immediate overlap, I will potentially skip other people to continue moving things along, particularly if the threat starts to lag behind. If you have any questions, concerns, comments, or horror stories, feel free to DM me on Discord or hit me up in whatever channel feels appropriate. Best of luck in this event we all know you will totally not fail!

[Late Night, London Heathrow Airport, UK.]Heathrow, the busiest airport in Europe and 8th in the world. Even so close to midnight, thousands of people are still coming and going from its terminals. In one of these, there stand a rather odd collection of 4 people. The tallest stands at least 6' tall if not taller, and were they not all similarly bleary-eyed and inattentive then a good deal of the other English travellers may have recognised the rather imposing man as Nathan Riviera, the pro hero known as Crystal King (and Kupo's father). The two next largest figures were Kali and Maki Riviera, Kupo's mother and fraternal twin sister respectively, both in the ballpark of 5' and possessing (to different extents) various mutations reminiscent of canine animals. Then, dwarfed by all 3, was Kupo. Of the 4, he was the only one who appeared to be carrying hand luggage of any kind. "Are you sure you're alright, prince? This will be a big step for you, alone on the other side of the world taking one of the most competitive entrance exams in Heroics. I just want to make sure you're 100% on this, it's not too late to-""Dad! Kupo's been working so hard for this! You should know better than anyone else, Rivieras don't give up!"The two are about to launch into an argument, thin lines of a crystalline substance spreading like fissures across their arms, but luckily the tension is cut through. "Hey, it's okay! I'll be fine, Dad, I promise. Plus, there's no harm in trying, right? Either I get into UA, or I take a confirmed place at any of my UK choices. I'm 100% sure! You trained me well~" Kupo stood between them with a warm smile, hoping to avoid further conflict. "-and Maki, please don't shout...""Attention all passengers! Flight 209 Connecting to Tokyo Haneda will now start boarding its first class and business class passengers!" As the announcement goes out, 3 heads adorned with canine ears all instinctively turn to the source of the sound, prompting laughs from the group. Kupo's mother bends down to his height, placing her hands on his shoulders. "You've come so far, my little kit, and I'm already so proud. Go show them what you're really made of. Last hug!" Kupo is quickly embraced by his mother (who gives him an affectionate lick on the cheek), then his sister, then his father, who picks up the trio in a bear hug. With that, Kupo boards the plane. [Early Morning, Helsinki Airport, Finland.]After 3 hours of flying, Kupo had a brief layover in the much smaller Finnish airport an hour shy of sunrise. He could not count on two hands the number of times even in that brief journey that concerned passengers or staff had (easily) mistaken him for a young child and, concerned, offered assistance. Luckily, he spoke enough Japanese and Finnish to reassure people of his safety, if not his maturity. After this brief stop though, he was on the second leg of his journey, headed straight for Tokyo. [Late Night (the next day), Tokyo Haneda Airport, Japan.]After quite the long haul flight, due to jumping forward 8 time zones, Kupo had managed to arrive in the world's largest city at almost the exact time he had left his home city, though a full day later. Excitement (and noise) had prevented him from sleeping for the whole journey, and he was kept going through the exhausting ordeal of Customs (as could be expected for a very small boy trying to acquire a Visa to enter Japan for a university entrance exam) by the overwhelming elation that he was finally about to take his biggest ever step towards his dreams of being a Hero. He left the airport eventually, and got a taxi to the closest hotel room to the exam site he had been able to book. Luckily, it being very early morning, there was a much less (though non-zero) chance of being harrassed by fans of him or his family. [~10:00, USJ, Japan.]After getting a decent amount of sleep, and giving himself a pep talk on the way from the hotel to USJ, Kupo was as literally bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as ever, with the latter wagging like a dog's would. He had decided to take a rooftop route to the site of his entrance exam as this both provided a good mobility workout and minimised his chances of being caught by any of his not insignificant number of Japanese 'followers'. Kupo was wearing the outfit he'd taken to be the first draft of his hero costume, given it also served fairly well as athletic wear. He also, as was medically required, sported a dark grey support device around his left wrist. He had been part of the few 'early' examinees first in to their waiting area in what (unbeknownst to him at the time) was just outside the urban environment area of the large facility. Most of the other high school seniors (and other miscellaneous 18-year-olds) didn't pay him much mind, but his sensitive hearing proved to be a double-edged sword as he couldn't help but hear the few who made deriding comments about the "kid" who thought they could make it at UA. Kawaii~ had never seemed like an insult before. He wished he didn't hear their quiet laughter or whispered remarks. He wouldn't let them break his spirit though. He was here, and he was gonna speak aloud the poetry they'd missed by only judging the cover. Smiling face, swaying tail, keep up the confidence! As the waiting area gradually filled, soon it was due time for the practical exam to begin. He had some relief in that the crowd was (mostly) quiet as Mr. Finesse started explaining the exam's rules and workings, which enabled him to focus in on strategy. He'd done his research prior to the exam, and so Kupo knew the environment and objectives of the exam could have been any of the many possible combinations, unknown until the day. How fortunate then, that this configuration of the exam seemed almost tailor-made for him. 1 - Urban Environment Kupo's 3D mobility granted by powerful leaps and acrobatic skill was his greatest asset, and a city district? Well, this was his preferred playground: compact buildings and elevated structures. 2 - Rescue Points Adept at both finding endangered civilians and at quickly escorting them to safety, Rescue techniques had formed the bulk of his prior Heroics studies. This was Kupo's forte, which meant he would not be as limited by his strength in combat as he would otherwise be. 3 - Enemies The Harasser: a fast and lightweight aerial enemy. Hopefully within his range to pounce on from the ground or an elevated perch, and with any luck he'd be fast enough to outpace the turning of its guns and propellers. The Bandit: big, dumb and slow. The exact type of enemy he'd trained his whole life to overcome despite his size disadvantage. The Rex: canine-modelled pack hunters. Being as small and light as he was, Kupo could move very quietly and hide in small spaces should he need to evade something. Plus, he was familiar with the behavioural patterns of this genus from Quirk-centered research, so hopefully the Rex AI had been modelled on their animal counterparts. The icing on the cake was the presence of the BBEG - the Villain - to distract the more reckless combatants of the group, keeping them away from rescue objectives as they chased a chance to show off. This left Kupo's strategy pretty clear: race out in front of anyone he can, using the concrete jungle landscape to get places the others can't, and rescue as many people (civilian or fellow examinee, it didn't matter to him) as he could while taking out any of the smaller robots that crossed his bounding path. No plan survives contact with the enemy, but hopefully his would last long enough to improvise a new one along the way. As the speech drawed to a close, Kupo readied himself. Crouched down, predator-like leg muscles coiled tightly, he waited. Then, as the horn sounded, Kupo let his body take over. He leaped forward, over as many of his taller competitors as he could, and bounded out into the cityscape in something between running and all-fours pouncing. He didn't get to see the faces of the few vocal doubters, nor did he want to. He wanted to get into UAU.

[attr="class","AudenContain"] [attr="class","AudenHidden"] entrance exam: Invasion[attr="class","AudenBody"] AudenYawn... Was he really going through with this? Was Auden actually taking his older brother's advice and doing the entrance exam so that he could become a hero? It seemed stupid... Trivial even, and even as he prepared for the day, he wondered what they would be up against. Auden had for sure seen more than most people had in their lifetime when it came to chaos, blood and death, so some mock situation would sadly just put him back into a comfort zone he didn't want to know so intimately. Rubbing at his eyes, he would go to the desired location and blink to the people that were gathered around him. Out of everyone here, he wondered if there was anyone that actually felt confident in their abilities, or if he was going to have to carry the shit out of whoever was close to him in order for them to pass.
As he listened to the scenario, Auden's face contorted. Right, this was normal- people having to make up fake situations that to some, was probably the most action they had ever seen. For Auden, he felt as if he wasn't going to get scared or worried about it, for obvious reasons. Of course, in a situation like this, it was more important to save the civilians. As much as it may get your blood rushing to kill a baddie or two, it wasn't anything against being able to save a life; people remember you choosing their life over glory, and Auden was going to stick by that. He'd crack his knuckles, looking about to some of the people closest to him and wondering if they had the same idea. As much as he was sure he could do things on his own, perhaps it was better to team up. Auden would look over to a white haired person with ears and nudge their shoulder. "Saving the people, right?" With Agnis having stayed back for this, unless he made some friends he'd be on his own. Notes☼ Felix || U.A. Uniform

Takara stood among the crowd of students who managed to clear the first hurdle, being picked for the entrance exam. At her height, she could scan the crowd, of course not recognizing anyone that she would know, and would attempt to count how many people were there. After the 3rd dozen, she gave up figuring that it wouldn't matter since she would be one of the few who would pass. While some of the hopeful students showed up in their casual wear and others in makeshift hero costumes Takara decided it would be best to wear her gym clothes having tied her hair back since she assumed they would be pretty mobile during this exam. [break][break]
To her, this was just a formality and stepping stone to get to her real goal. Past this exam was her meeting her grandfather for the very first time something she had been waiting years to do. It may not have been her style to go all out, but this was a special occasion. As the others around her scrambled to find partners due to the announcer explaining the rules she took the opportunity to stretch and psych herself up. When the horn blared and everyone rushed out Takara decided to take a sharp left when first possible and she figured getting away from the crowd was the fastest way to accumulate 'points'[break][break]

The crowd broke the instant the signal to begin was given. Hopeful students, bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and ready to take on the world, rushed off in every direction to prove their worth to the watchful proctors who would inevitably decide their fate. A veritable concrete jungle filled with problems to solve and foes to face down awaited them, and danger could be around every corner. At the forefront of the group was Kupo, who bounded ahead. He was quick on his feet and clearly willing to take initiative - a good set of traits for any hero, but others were hot on his heels. No one was willing to let anyone else take the spotlight off of them, at least not at this juncture! Emergency sirens blared ahead. The streets, as expected, were filled with chaos. Cars were overturned, streetlamps were broken and bent, windows had been shattered from storefront, trash littered the sidewalks, and a handful of panicked civilians wandered and ran about. Some were stricken with panic, unable to think on their own and merely doing their best to survive, while others seemed to move with a singular goal: find a place to hide and stay safe. They may have been crisis actors, but they were doing an excellent job of making it a genuine experience! Were these people in danger? There didn't seem to be any imminent threat. Whatever had caused this damage had clearly moved on further down the street where the sirens could be heard. It'd be a good moment for a judgement call. Were these people in need of a hero? Or would emergency services be sufficient? Others chose a different path. Takara, unwilling to follow the direct, forward path, split off to the left as soon as she could. She'd not be alone, of course. Others chose to diverge from the main thoroughfare, but Takara's initiative put her at the front, and so she'd be the one with the first opportunity to help others. A series of harasser drones zipped off into the distance and quickly rounded a corner, but they left behind a disaster that needed solving. A multi-rise building had been greatly damaged, and many of its offices had clearly gone up in flame. As Takara approached, a couple of crisis actors stumbled out of the door the drones had just left and began pleading for help. " Someone, anyone! Help us! More are trapped inside! Please, anyone!" a young woman pleaded, tears in her eyes. The fires, courtesy of a proctor with a flame quirk, were no real danger to the crisis actors, but they'd provide an excellent problem to solve, as would the people remaining within. If questioned, the woman would divulge that at least three others were inside, and unfortunately, she had no idea where! Last, of course, was Auden, who had tried to buddy up with Kupo and had yet to commit to any path. Would he strike out on his own or would he join the others? These decisions were all part of being a hero!

| ★Jason Riviera★ | @crystalprincekupo Location:] Tokyo, Japan. | Current Status: UA Entrance Exams! Wish me luck! Now Playing: The Score - Born For This As Kupo was just preparing to burst out through the gates, he felt someone touch him and then heard (presumably them) speak. He turned to the voice's source, looking at Auden as they spoke (though without full eye contact). "Yep, that's the plan! Rescue first, and deal with any robots in the way of rescuing people. Working together will probably be more efficient, and if you wanna collaborate I'm all for it! But~, you'll have to keep up, sorry!" His voice was almost as youthful as his appearance would suggest, only betraying excitement for the test ahead. After rushing off at the commencement of the test, he quickly came to the first area of conflict, and his scenario awareness and rescue protocol training kicked in. With his sensitive ears, Kupo scanned the area to determine if there was anyone in immediate need of rescue trapped in car wrecks or the like, moving to save them (using his leg strength to lever wrecks off of people and act as a crutch to get them to other able civilians) if so. As he did so, Kupo projected his voice over the area, high pitch cutting above some of the clamour. "Heroes are here! All civilians who are able should evacuate to a safer area, our direction of approach is clear of villains!" He pointed down the street in the direction all of the examinees had come from, making this instruction clear and (after any manual rescues that needed doing) moving on quickly to the closest area with obvious damage and sounds of people requesting aid. The people most in need would be at the epicenter of devastation (not necessarily the epicenter of fighting) , after all. Kupo looked for Auden behind him, signalling to the blond if he needed help with a rescue (or assisting him vice-versa) & his direction of onward movement if he could pinpoint his potential ally.
