Freja really hadn't been expecting to go to the infirmary today but lo and behold, here she was. Several stab wounds in her leg and shoulder from knives that were being thrown at her, as well as some slash wounds across the backs of her wrists and hands. Yeah, these weren't the types of injuries she would accumulate from just standard sparring practice. They were wounds she earned from surviving an encounter with some mysterious crow people. Had Farrin not been there, she would undoubtedly have been killed.

After they survived the ambush itself he had rushed her back to the school and now here she was, walking into the infirmary, blood dripping from her hands and several knives still sticking out of her. ''E-Excuse me, sensei...'' She spoke up carefully, she wasn't about to faint or anything, she was just immensely tired from not only fighting, but fighting under a speed boost Farrin had shared with her. He might be used to duking it out at that level, but Freja wasn't exactly superhuman. ''I think I need some help.'' Had it been just a few scrapes, she could probably handle it with the band-aids back at her dorm room, but evidently she hadn't got off lightly considering she was actively dripping blood on the floor, despite her best efforts to cover up her hands and try to avoid that.

She hated being a burden on others. Even if it was Hebiru's job to look after students when they got hurt.

The Doctor is In

Seeing the bloodied and battered student enter her infirmary Hebiru put her cup of coffee down and grabbed a pair of gloves.

"Oh my. It certainly does appear that way, Helt-san. Please take a seat on the bed so I can take a look. Shirei, please bring my tools."

"Right away lady Yanai."

Stepping closer to help Freja out should she need it Hebiru walks with her until she's taken a seat. Calmly taking account of the girl's injuries she ranked them by severity to determine the order she'd need to treat them in.

"It seems like there's quite a story behind these." She said with a soft smile. "Let's start with your arms before we pull the knives out. It is good that you've left them in. Shirei, if you'd please?"

"Of course." The blonde girl replied before looking their patient in the eye. "Freja-san, right? I think we've crossed paths between classes. How are you feeling?"

While she spoke Freja's pain slowly seemed to fade into the background, still there but no longer seeming to be quite as intrusive. Nodding along to Freja's reply she gestured at the bed along with her next words.

"Here, lemme put your bat somewhere safe. It looks great by the way. Please relax so doctor Yanai can begin. Oh, forgive me if I'm being too nosy but would you mind telling us what happened?"

While Shirei was distracting the injured student Hebiru arranged her tools, gauze and thread on the nightstand next to the infirmary bed before she slipped on a pair of nitrile gloves.

"Shirei, don't be such a busybody or I'll have to ask you to wait outside. Don't worry, Helt-san. Shokuhou is my official assistant and bound by the laws of confidentiality just the same as me. That said, there's no need to humor her." Hebiru tittered. "Either way, there's more important matters right now, yes, Shirei? Let us not delay any longer."

''Right..'' Her whole body was crying out in pain, but she was trying her best not to let it show, or be an annoying patient. ''T-Thank you, Shirei-san.'' She mustered a strained smile as she eagerly accepted her help. ''I don't know how much blood I lost but I can feel it..'' She closed her eyes for a moment, only opening them again to look at Hebiru as she spoke. ''..Yeah, please tell me before you pull the knives out, needles already freak me out.'' She looked up at Shirei, her breathing heavier as her body grew warmer. ''I don't know... Not great.'' Was she getting a fever? She couldn't be sure, but it felt like it. ''I remember seeing you around.''

Then... The pain seemed to lessen? It happened so quickly that Freja could immediately feel the difference. ''Y-Yeah I'll tell you.'' It's not like it would do her any good to withhold this information from the school anyway. ''I was heading to a shop with Farrin, not too far from the school. Uh, Farrin O'Rourke, also from the first year..'' She looked at Hebiru as she told her assistant off. ''It's okay sensei, I'm still a little bit shaken from it.'' She smirked, the relief starting to set in. She really had made it back to school in one piece, even if she was a human pincushion. ''We were ambushed by crow villains, or something.. There was a lot of them but we managed to fight them off, Farrin carried me back here.''

Armed with a metal tray filled with gauze, cotton balls, tweezers, a scalpel, antiseptic, needle and thread Hebiru sat down in front of Freja. 

"This may sting a little, miss Helt. Shirei, could you hold her arm steady?"

"On it." Shirei replied, attentively paying attention to Freja the entire time she talked. Picking up a cotton ball with her tweezers and coating it in antiseptic Hebirugently dabbed it over Freja's wrist injury to disinfect them. All the while Shirei did her best to keep their patient calm.

"Ouch, always sends shivers through me to see an open wound, he he. Don't worry though. It's only a brief sting." Her heterochromatic eyes looked straight into Freja's own, ensuring without a doubt that her words would be true. "Oh, you were out with Farrin? What's he like? Are you two friends, or like, friends friends?"

Shirei asked with an innocent smile and starry eyes, enthusiastically nodding along to Freja's words.

"I see, I see." She replied with a look that clearly showed she didn't. "So you ran into actual villains, huh. I'm kinda jealous... Oh, sorry. That's rude of me to say when you've come back all injured isn't it?"

"Shirei, other arm." Hebiru interrupted without looking away from what she was doing. Changing out her equipment for a new cotton ball she continued on with full focus the moment Shokuhou did as she said. "Your injuries are not as bad as they look, miss Helt. You will need stitches here and here but we can take them out again in five days. One moment, I seem to be out of anesthetic spray. I'll be right back."

With the wound cleaned out Hebiru nodded and walked into the store room next to the infirmary. The moment she was out Shirei turned back to Freja.

"So then what happened?"

Freja swallowed when she saw the tray Hebiru was carrying over. Hopefully she wasn't going to use any needles on her. Needles were the absolute worst. When she told Freja it might hurt, the gray-haired student immediately closed her eyes and looked away, very clearly tensing up in her shoulders. ''Ow, ow!'' It was still stinging, but not as much as Freja thought it would. Was it because Shirei was here? Opening her eyes to look at her, Freja couldn't help but find her presence strangely comforting. ''Am I going to be okay?'' Her open wound wasn't lethal, was it? Oh no what if she only had two hours left to live.

''W-We're just friends! He showed me his fighting style, he's really nice..'' She blushed at even just the slightest implication that they might be something more. Farrin was a bro! She didn't see him that way at all. Besides, he already had a girlfriend who he seemed to care about a lot. ''Don't be, it sucks!'' She winced as to not scream her pain out then and there. ''I don't want to run into anymore villains until I'm a pro hero..''

''T-That was just the first arm?'' She whined, clearly holding back tears. ''Stitches?'' Her face turned pale. Considering the damage she had taken maybe she should count herself lucky. ''As long as I don't fall behind on school.'' She sighed. The last thing someone like her needed was another setback when she was already lacking behind. ''That's pretty much what happened. Farrin and I were going to the store when some weird-looking guys in bird masks came out of this murder of crows. Then they started attacking us. Farrin didn't get that hurt, so he rushed me back here since we were pretty close to the school.''

"I see, I see!" Shirei replied, her head bobbing up and down enthusiastically as she listened with a smile and a gleam in her eye. "One second, let me note that down."

Her thumb almost blurred over the screen of her smart phone, letters forming words and words forming sentences at a speed that clearly showed her experience. It would have been impressive even if it had been her sole focus but somehow she managed to keep her attention on Freja at the same time.

"Sounds like quite the fight. You made it though and got an experience that'll serve you well. I'm jealous. You can hold your head high, Freja!" Shirei said with full conviction, her eyes not breaking contact with Freja for even a second. Unless she was wrong then... There! For just a split second she could see it, a hint of pride. Immediately Shokuhou latched onto it with her quirk and amplified it with care, making sure to bring it to the fore without overpowering any of the grey-haired student's other emotions. At the same time she made sure to slightly dial the feelings of guilt her words may have aroused in the girl down.

She could see it. Even though the signs were slight Shirei had gotten very good at reading them. When someone was tense it always showed in their posture. Their shoulders hunch just the slightest bit more, the side of their cheeks just below the ear thickened just a bit due to the clenching of their jaw and their centre of gravity almost seemed lower as they drew in on themselves. While she couldn't say she could accurately notice those things in anyone just yet she was certainly attentive enough to notice when they faded away and unless she was imagining it Freja looked just the slightest bit less burdened by what had happened. Shokuhou's eyes throbbed, sending a sharp spike of pain akin to being stabbed by an ice pick through her head. She didn't let it show on her face.

"My apologies for the wait."

"Welcome back, Yanai-sensei!"

"Let's continue. Miss Helt, this may sting for a bit. Please be aware the pain will fade shortly." Hebiru stated as she carefully took a hold of Freja's arm and applied the anesthetic spray. The spray was short lasting so she would need to stitch the first arm up before applying the spray to the second one but so long as Freja held still she was confident she could finish both arms in less than five minutes even with the slight wait for the spray to take effect.

Freja looked down at Shirei’s phone as she typed, both impressed and very confused. “I guess? I doubt the school will see it that way. We’re probably going to get in trouble.” She shot Hebiru a nervous glance, as if the nurse just knew Freja was getting called into the principal’s office tomorrow. So much for being a hero student at the prestigious hero school. The public was probably rooting for her failure too, the news of her getting kicked out of the school world just reaffirm what so many believed. That quirkless people had no business trying to become heroes.

“Sting?” She breathed in. “Okay, I’m ready.” Somewhere along the way she started feeling a sense of pride too. Like yeah, Farrin and her had fought back when they maybe could have run instead, but they had kicked ass! Fought villains and lived to tell about it, how cool was that? Surely the school wouldn’t kick her out over something like that. “Makes you jealous of those super healing quirks, doesn’t it?” She smirked at Shirei and Hebiru, trying to lighten the mood as she sat still and waited.

"Pfft, don't worry about it!" Shirei said with a friendly laugh. "We're here to be heroes, no way you'll get in trouble for that!"

"While the situation is a bit more complex than that, Shirei." Hebiru replied with a pointed look. "You are not entirely incorrect. Miss Helt, provided you were truthful about being ambushed and did not leave out any important details there should not be any negative consequences. Use of force for the purposes of self defense is permitted under UAU regulations provided the student was not the instigator of the conflict. I will advise you however to seek out the school's advice on how to deal with the media should it be necessary."

Finishing up with the second arm she gestured for Shirei to assist with disinfecting the grey-haired girl's leg as Freja continued talking. Hebiru hummed thoughtfully in reply, the movement of her head a bit between a nod and a shake.

"Yes and no, miss Helt. While 'super healing quirks' as you called them certainly have their advantages it is dangerous to become reliant on them. The full side effects have yet to be explored and there are rumors of some worrying results in the long term."

Shirei rolled her eyes while out of the nurse's sight and winked at Freya to hide the flinch said movement prompted. 

"Of course, Yanai-sensei. Your method is waaaay better." She giggled.

"I will make you wait outside. Do not doubt it." Hebiru joked back after catching on to how Freja and Shirei are attempting to lighten the mood, her tone perhaps a bit too even to succeed. "Which would be very inconvenient given that I require you to hold miss Helt's leg steady."

Propping the limb up on her shoulder and spraying a generous dose of the anesthetic spray all over and around Freja's leg injury Hebiru waited a moment for it to take effect before getting to work.

Freja appreciated the sentiment, but she knew full well that while defending herself was allowed, it wasn’t exactly something that would put her at a good standing with the school administration. “E-Entirely truthful! We were caught by surprise, if you asked Farrin he would say the same thing!” There was a hint of desperation in her tone. She knew she was innocent and was ready to fight for her case if she had to.

“Really? Not even healing quirks are safe..” She couldn’t help but tense up a bit as she looked down at her leg, but she tried her best to regulate her muscles with deep, steady breaths to relax them. She smiled nervously but still closed her eyes and looked away as they began treating her leg. She wasn’t normally squeamish, but there was something about it being her own body that she would rather not look at. “I hate knives.” She blurted out. “I’m getting a suit of armor for my hero costume and it will be one hundred percent knifeproof.” While a suit of armor was an exaggeration, she really needed to take Leonid up on his advice and start thinking about getting a durable hero costume. “Do you think it will heal soon, sensei?”

"I would hardly say they are unsafe." Hebiru acknowledged with a half-nod. "Simply that overuse is not advised. Much like anything else, moderation is key. How one uses their skills is often much more important than what abilities they possess."

"Yeah." Shirei agreed with an enthusiastic nod before chuckling at Freja's knife comment. "Not a bad idea, maybe I should get one like that too."

Finishing up with Freja's leg Hebiru gently lowered the limb once more.

"Hmm, it should not take more than a week or two for the injuries on your arms and leg to be fully healed. I would not recommend straining your arms too much for the first three days however or it may take longer." 

Inspecting the grey-haired student's shoulder she let out a hum. 

"Apologies, Helt-san. I will need to cut your shirt a little to properly treat your shoulder. Should you prefer I didn't I can attempt to work around it however."

She doubted the piece of cloth would still be useable either way what with the pair of knives sticking through it. Even so she would acquiesce should Freja not wish for it to be damaged further. Removing the knives themselves should not take long either way, especially not with Shokuhou present to assist. A few minutes, the same procedure as the one on her leg and perhaps a stitch or two and they would be done.

''I see.'' What Hebiru said gave her quite a bit to think about. ''So even the superhuman is still human.'' She couldn't help but smirk a bit at Shirei's comment. ''Right? Knives are way too common these days, any and every bad guy can easily get their hands on one!'' This only added to her notes about her hero suit, she was definitely making it stab-proof. ''I-I see, that long, huh.'' She sighed, giving herself over to fate as she realized she would inevitably fall behind on her training.

''Huh? Really?'' She looked down at her shirt, ''that's okay sensei, this is a throwaway you can cut it. Besides, it's not like it's in mint condition after what happened anyways.'' Note to self, don't wear your favorite shirts into the city, you just might get ambushed by some deranged criminals or at worst some kind of creepy shadow villain you know nothing about and probably never will. She braced for more stitches, but once again, somehow found it easier with Shirei by her side. Maybe it was because she was so friendly? They had barely hung out that much outside of school, but when she talked to her she felt at ease, like Shirei was an old childhood friend she was catching up with.

''Thank you, sensei, Shirei-san.'' She tried to sit up, but grimaced a bit as her limbs cried out in pain. ''Waking up tomorrow is not gonna feel great.'' She joked, putting on a smile. ''Beats bleeding out on the street, though.''

"Aww, don't worry about it. I know all the best stores around." Shirei said with a bright smile and a nod. "We can go shopping once you're a bit better, it'll be fun. Hmm, I wonder which brands would fit your style."

Crossing her arms she closed her eyes while humming, as much to think the matter through as to give her eyes some time to rest. 

"Ah, I got it!" She shouted while jumping up, mostly to hide the pained flinch caused by light once more hitting her eyes. "I'll keep it a secret for now though. You'll have to find out which stores we're visiting on the day itself!"

Interrupting Shirei's banter with a subtle clearing of her throat Hebiru aimed a polite smile Freja's way.

"That's what we're here for, Helt-san." Hebiru said with a nod. "Indeed it does. Rest assured that your injuries looked worse than they were. I'll prescribe some painkillers for the first few days of recovery however the pain should fade soon by itself. Be sure to wet the sutures twice a day and gently pat them dry to speed recovery and you'll be right as rain before you know it."

Scribbling down two notes and grabbing a bottle out of a nearby cabinet she handed both to Freja.

"This first note will get you out of PE and the like for a week as well as allow you to skip out on intense exercises the week after should it be needed. This second one is for you personally." Hebiru added with a gentle smile and a wink. "Standard procedure is to get a statement as soon as possible after an encounter such as this. Doctor's orders override this however. With this note you'll be able to wait until tomorrow before putting in a report. Get some rest, Helt-san. "

"And if there's anything else don't hesitate to pay us a visit!" Shirei added with Hebiru nodding along in agreement.

The pair saw Freja off before Hebiru turned to Shirei.

"That goes for you as well. You can't hide symptoms from your doctor, Shirei."

"Ah, busted..."

"Take a painkiller and go lay down. I'm sure I can handle things here for the rest of the day."

"Yes, Yanai-sensei!"
