[attr="class","iwbtr-body"] [attr="class","iwbtr-text"] A sudden voice broke Callisto's concentration. He hadn't even realized how his mind slipped into a state of focus, nor had he considered his presence, in particular, to be of specific intrigue; in a world populated by people who could be born as entirely different creatures to the norm — up to and even including creatures only known in myths — a once striking visage like his own was likely no more than average when garnering attention. Perhaps it was simply his positioning that made him a target of interest. [break][break] At least, a target of interest to this stranger. [break][break] Turning his gaze to the stranger, Callisto's eyes darted up and down — examining their visage — with his turquoise eyes glinting in the early morning light. When compared to himself, the other figure may as just as well have been an odd sight. Their choice of dress was bizarre, and Callisto couldn't even tell if they were either man or woman — and that wasn't even commenting on the creature they held in their arms. Frankly, he was more confounded by the mystery of the opposite person than their animal. [break][break] Though, perhaps Callisto was an oddity for his lack of formal attire. As it stood now, he dressed in baggy joggers, a casual t-shirt, and a baggy hoodie he'd left open at the front. If Shion cared to look, Callisto's shirt seemed to have a logo of some sort of clothing apparel mixed in with a flower design. [break][break] "...Real weird way to address someone." Callisto raised an eyebrow. It wasn't the first time an oddity had appeared out of nowhere for him — it was a worrying trend, really — but he supposed this one was more a matter of bewilderment. At the very least, it was unlike the vastly more intense situations he'd previously found himself in. [break][break] "Pardon me for asking," he'd start, motioning to the creature in their arms, "but what the hell is even that? Is it some weird breed of cat or something?" He'd get to the mystery of this other person in a minute; for the time being, his attention had shifted to the truly unorthodox creature now grasping his attention. It wasn't necessarily the most curious sight he'd ever laid eyes upon, but it was still worth mentioning as peculiar. "Do you just carry that thing around wherever?"[break][break][break][break][break] 6/30 Charges, Negative [attr="class","iwbtr-footer"] [attr="class","iwbtr-credit"] SELKIE[newclass=.iwbtr-contain] width: 500px; background: #efefef; display: flex; flex-flow: row wrap; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head] width: 100%; height: 250px; position: relative; background: var(--iwbtr-img); background-color: var(--iwbtr-accent); background-blend-mode: luminosity; background-size: cover; border-bottom: 7px solid #222; overflow: hidden; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head::before] content: ""; position: absolute; left: -1px; top: -1px; clip-path: polygon(100% 0, 0 0, 0 100%); width: 50%; height: 100%; background-color: #000; opacity: 0.2; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head::after] content: ""; position: absolute; bottom: -1px; right: -1px; height: 125px; width: 125px; background: #fff; clip-path: polygon(100% 0, 0% 100%, 100% 100%); opacity: 0.15; z-index: 0; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head div] position: absolute; z-index: 1; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-ly-1] height: 0px; color: #fa712d; text-transform: uppercase; font: 700 20px roboto; bottom: 90px; right: 25px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-ly-2] height: 50px; font: 700 60px/100% Old Standard TT; color: #fa712d; text-transform: uppercase; bottom: 25px; right: 25px; position: relative; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-ly-2::after] content: ""; position: absolute; width: 10px; height: 15px; background: var(--iwbtr-accent); bottom: 0px; right: 0px; width: 100%; z-index: -1; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-body] width: 500px; position: relative; background: #f8f8f8; overflow: hidden; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-text] padding: 60px; font: 400 14px/18px Old Standard TT; color: #2b2b2b; text-align: justify; position: relative; z-index: 1; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-quote] width: 65px; height: 69px; margin-right: 10px; display: inline-block; float: left; background: var(--iwbtr-accent); clip-path: polygon(25% 0%, 100% 0%, 75% 100%, 0% 100%); shape-outside: polygon(25% 0%, 100% 0%, 75% 100%, 0% 100%); display: flex; align-items: center; justify-content: center; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-quote:before] content: "\eca8"; font-family: "honeybee"; color: #111; font-size: 24px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-body::after] content: ""; width: 50%; height: 120%; position: absolute; right: -100px; top: -50px; background: url(https://image.ibb.co/eA8wR8/40.png); transform: scaleX(-1); opacity: 0.2; filter: grayscale(100%) contrast(75%); z-index: 0; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-body::before] content: ""; position: absolute; top: 0px; right: 0px; z-index: 1; height: 100%; width: 150px; background: rgb(248, 248, 248); background: linear-gradient( 90deg, rgba(248, 248, 248, 1) 0%, rgba(255, 255, 255, 0) 100% ); [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer] width: calc(100% - 100px); background-color: #111; position: relative; border-bottom: 7px solid var(--iwbtr-accent); display: flex; flex-flow: row nowrap; align-items: center; padding: 40px 50px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer::before] content: ""; position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; background:var(--iwbtr-img); background-position: bottom; filter: grayscale(100%) contrast(75%); opacity: 0.175; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer div] height: 20px; display: flex; flex-flow: row wrap; align-items: center; position: relative; color: #000; font: 700 18px/100% Roboto; text-transform: uppercase; z-index: 1; background: var(--iwbtr-accent); padding: 6px 10px 5px 10px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer div a] font: 700 18px/100% Roboto !important; text-transform: uppercase !important; background: #132742 !important; color: #000 !important; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-credit] width: 50px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 450px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-credit a] font: 700 8px/100% roboto !important; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-contain-honeybee]speak:none;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;font-variant:normal;text-transform:none;line-height:1;-webkit-font-smoothing:antialiased;-moz-osx-font-smoothing:grayscale } @font-face {font-family: "honeybee";src:url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/7v31tyaf53kmcv7/honeybee.eot");src:url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/7v31tyaf53kmcv7/honeybee.eot?#iefix") format("embedded-opentype"),url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/awr1gt01c87aaxi/honeybee.woff") format("woff"),url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/hru9ka6dgfcgjg1/honeybee.ttf") format("truetype"),url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/xylorgamsf6fthx/honeybee.svg#honeybee") format("svg");font-weight: normal;font-style: normal;}[/newclass]

[attr="class","iwbtr-body"] [attr="class","iwbtr-text"] A chill ran down Callisto's spine. From a once humid air, one wrought by the warm droplets that fell from the skies, now turned chilled in the entrance of another figure; this figure, though close to the ideal of the human figure, yet held a different aura, a presence twisted in its pressure. Like being looked upon by a higher being — something that the Venetian couldn't hope to understand — Callisto's eyes shook to the sight of the near-instantly deceased man before him. His shaken gaze, then, fell upon The White Queen in her full majesty. [break][break] A display of immediate horror, yet an air of nonchalance; the mere hired goon could only see the body of a human falling apart, decomposing, whilst the interloper looked upon him. Though his body held firm in their presence — the adrenaline medicating his nerves, he supposed — Callisto's gaze couldn't bear to pull themselves away from The White Queen lest she make him her next corpse. [break][break] Yet, her intentions seemed founded in another idea; as the aura of menace faded, Callisto found himself wondering a number questions. One of the ones that came to mind, one rang most loudly — had he done something to incur their intrigue? Had his street brawl with the hero — an admittedly juvenile scuffle, given the circumstances — brought upon him the sight of someone much higher on the totem pole? He wasn't sure who they were just yet, but he figured that someone of such a caliber would have a known alias, one he'd likely recall from the groups he'd run in. [break][break] As her raspy voice beckoned for Callisto's attention, the still-breathing corpse of the man continued to be pulled towards the man — though, from such a lifeless body, he had no issue holding it back with his good forearm. Though, given a closer inspection of the damage done, Callisto's face crinkled. What had once been healthy cells mere moments ago were now diseased and rotted, deteriorating out from and eating away at the body. It was as though parts of their body had instantly passed through their entire life and the decomposition process of a corpse, yet still hadn't caught up to its inevitable demise. [break][break] "...H...Help..."[break][break] There came a voice, a faint one, from the dying hero. Though Callisto had taken jabs at the man, and despite having mocked his stature, he hadn't intended for their death; he supposed, in a karmic sort of way, their death was on his hands — at least in placing the man where death would fall to him. [break][break] But with a presence as dangerous as The White Queen's, Callisto couldn't — no, he needed to — back away from her offer. The Venetian man couldn't help but think that he held no choice in the proposal. Furthermore, if this woman was so assured in her offer... [break][break] He couldn't simply ignore such a deal. [break][break] Pushing the body to his side, Callisto let flicker more electricity across his body. Though he hadn't imbued any energy into himself or his surroundings, the rotting hero would be flung away from him into the opposite wall, clearing the path between the two villains — his output hadn't changed, but his polarity had matched the hero's, resulting in the extensive force that buried them in the opposite wall. [break][break] "...Could you offer an icepack?" With a slight laugh, Callisto would approach the villainess, following after her steps out of the path. "Pretty sure I haven't broken anything, but the adrenaline's not gonna mask this pain for too long."[break][break][break][break][break] 3/30 Charges, Positive[break] D- Outside Target Active (2/3, Positive)[break] C Self Target Active (2/3, Now Positive) [attr="class","iwbtr-footer"] [attr="class","iwbtr-credit"] SELKIE[newclass=.iwbtr-contain] width: 500px; background: #efefef; display: flex; flex-flow: row wrap; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head] width: 100%; height: 250px; position: relative; background: var(--iwbtr-img); background-color: var(--iwbtr-accent); background-blend-mode: luminosity; background-size: cover; border-bottom: 7px solid #222; overflow: hidden; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head::before] content: ""; position: absolute; left: -1px; top: -1px; clip-path: polygon(100% 0, 0 0, 0 100%); width: 50%; height: 100%; background-color: #000; opacity: 0.2; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head::after] content: ""; position: absolute; bottom: -1px; right: -1px; height: 125px; width: 125px; background: #fff; clip-path: polygon(100% 0, 0% 100%, 100% 100%); opacity: 0.15; z-index: 0; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head div] position: absolute; z-index: 1; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-ly-1] height: 0px; color: #fa712d; text-transform: uppercase; font: 700 20px roboto; bottom: 90px; right: 25px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-ly-2] height: 50px; font: 700 60px/100% Old Standard TT; color: #fa712d; text-transform: uppercase; bottom: 25px; right: 25px; position: relative; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-ly-2::after] content: ""; position: absolute; width: 10px; height: 15px; background: var(--iwbtr-accent); bottom: 0px; right: 0px; width: 100%; z-index: -1; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-body] width: 500px; position: relative; background: #f8f8f8; overflow: hidden; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-text] padding: 60px; font: 400 14px/18px Old Standard TT; color: #2b2b2b; text-align: justify; position: relative; z-index: 1; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-quote] width: 65px; height: 69px; margin-right: 10px; display: inline-block; float: left; background: var(--iwbtr-accent); clip-path: polygon(25% 0%, 100% 0%, 75% 100%, 0% 100%); shape-outside: polygon(25% 0%, 100% 0%, 75% 100%, 0% 100%); display: flex; align-items: center; justify-content: center; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-quote:before] content: "\eca8"; font-family: "honeybee"; color: #111; font-size: 24px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-body::after] content: ""; width: 50%; height: 120%; position: absolute; right: -100px; top: -50px; background: url(https://image.ibb.co/eA8wR8/40.png); transform: scaleX(-1); opacity: 0.2; filter: grayscale(100%) contrast(75%); z-index: 0; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-body::before] content: ""; position: absolute; top: 0px; right: 0px; z-index: 1; height: 100%; width: 150px; background: rgb(248, 248, 248); background: linear-gradient( 90deg, rgba(248, 248, 248, 1) 0%, rgba(255, 255, 255, 0) 100% ); [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer] width: calc(100% - 100px); background-color: #111; position: relative; border-bottom: 7px solid var(--iwbtr-accent); display: flex; flex-flow: row nowrap; align-items: center; padding: 40px 50px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer::before] content: ""; position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; background:var(--iwbtr-img); background-position: bottom; filter: grayscale(100%) contrast(75%); opacity: 0.175; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer div] height: 20px; display: flex; flex-flow: row wrap; align-items: center; position: relative; color: #000; font: 700 18px/100% Roboto; text-transform: uppercase; z-index: 1; background: var(--iwbtr-accent); padding: 6px 10px 5px 10px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer div a] font: 700 18px/100% Roboto !important; text-transform: uppercase !important; background: #132742 !important; color: #000 !important; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-credit] width: 50px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 450px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-credit a] font: 700 8px/100% roboto !important; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-contain-honeybee]speak:none;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;font-variant:normal;text-transform:none;line-height:1;-webkit-font-smoothing:antialiased;-moz-osx-font-smoothing:grayscale } @font-face {font-family: "honeybee";src:url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/7v31tyaf53kmcv7/honeybee.eot");src:url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/7v31tyaf53kmcv7/honeybee.eot?#iefix") format("embedded-opentype"),url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/awr1gt01c87aaxi/honeybee.woff") format("woff"),url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/hru9ka6dgfcgjg1/honeybee.ttf") format("truetype"),url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/xylorgamsf6fthx/honeybee.svg#honeybee") format("svg");font-weight: normal;font-style: normal;}[/newclass]

[attr="class","iwbtr-body"] [attr="class","iwbtr-text"] Perhaps, in the flashing lights of the club's life, the man of shorter stature seemed as though they were adorned by a mane of white hair; perhaps, if their hair had been as it seemed, there would have been a sense of nostalgia present in the sight. Instead, as the light receded from him and continued to pass along the scene, the bluish tint of his hair became clear to see — a sight unmistakably foreign, yet familiar in the flowing weights of its locks. [break][break] Though his vision didn't turn to meet the presence, Callisto's voice rose to meet the buyer, even gently nudging an elbow backward in the direction of the shove. He continued to maintain his detached focus on the man, however. His eyes would shift on the crowd in front of him, yet his words could only really mean anything to the new entrant. "Must be pretty big if your shove felt that rough; not the first time someone's tried to pin me down, but at least I saw it coming back then."[break][break] He spoke with an airy, perhaps amused, cadence, speaking to the stranger as though he treated all his clientele with such brevity. And, depending on the person, Callisto was sure to be one for light-hearted fun; his customers were those who looked to him for a bit of spice to their night. They wouldn't flock to him if he wasn't fun, let alone a downright bore. Besides, for an occupation such as his, Callisto would indulge in the few pleasures it did offer, especially given its otherwise harsh nature — the joy to freely muse with his patrons was one not so widely known to most of his type, but it was one he knew intimately well. [break][break] "Besides," he'd continue, reaching his hand to grip the other person — though, if he resisted, he would readily release him, "I've got plenty of things to take your night from good to great; mind being a bit more specific?"[break][break] He was curious, really. Not to the answer of his question — he had a pretty good idea of what they had in mind, but he couldn't help but be just a tad coy — but rather, the presence of this customer themselves. It wasn't often that he was saddled with someone as alien to him as a real stranger; most who enjoyed his services were at least familiar in passing. Though they may forget his name, and perhaps be personally unfamiliar with his product, his image was something not so quickly forgotten, especially not by those whose nights he'd brought to life. For him to be missing from an occasion like this would feel wrong, even if most didn't realize he was absent. [break][break] So, he wondered — what would this person be like? [attr="class","iwbtr-body"] [attr="class","iwbtr-text"] "Showa no Hi," otherwise known as "Showa Day" — a day of celebration and remembrance for those who gave their lives in service of their country. It was commendable to honor such individuals who, though history reviled as the villains of that time, were still cared for despite their crimes. Or, at the very least, such was the notion behind the Yasukuni Shrine. [break][break] The Yasukuni Shrine was a symbol far grander than just the exploits of World War II, that much was true — but, perhaps out of curiosity, Callisto had decided to research this place and its ties to that point in the world's history. It wasn't his first time experiencing the holiday — he'd lived long enough in Japan to be familiar with it as a part of the yearly routine — but he hadn't put in the effort to truly understand it beyond the common taglines. [break][break] It was so that he came to the Yasukuni shrine himself, having spent a short time beforehand delving into the intrigue surrounding it. Though, what he'd found was an odd thing; as the story was told, the shrine's "Book of Souls" contained within it a great number of people for whom respect was to be shown in their remembrance. However, of those names, there within ensorcelled a few over a thousand people tried and convicted as war criminals, people who'd fundamentally disgraced others' human rights. Perhaps it was unethical, but the Venetian-born man couldn't help but ponder the thought. Not whether they were good people — no, he didn't think most would believe that even at the time — but whether or not it was right to remember them at all. [break][break] Not to say that, from a perspective of truth, they should be forgotten. Their misdeeds were rightfully remembered by the world and would serve as an example of the cruelty humanity was capable of. But, in the case of the individuals themselves, was it right to put names and faces upon those statistics — to really remember them as people, as something more than just a crime of history? And, furthermore, did they deserve to be listed amongst many more people responsible for better things, even if they both worked from within the same system? [break][break] Callisto wondered if the same could be said for the modern criminals of the day — the "villains" of today, as they were called now. It had always struck him as a cartoonish way of denominating something considered so vile by the general populace. "Criminals," at the very least, were simply people who broke the laws of the land, who forayed beyond the bounds of society and received their punishment. Even if by only a single droplet, there was more respect for "criminals" than "villains." Villains were meant to be unequivocally evil — there wasn't meant to be a human behind the other side of their name. [break][break] Callisto considered himself more of a criminal than a villain. Whether or not he was deserving of respect for his profession, he didn't care — he'd long stopped considering what most beyond the scope of his work thought of him — but he did wonder if, at the end of his days, he'd be worth considering as a person with a name and life of their own. He regularly broke the boundaries established by the Japanese government, dancing beyond the line just as freely as he did before it, yet he still lived a mundane life of his own. He cared for himself, his mother, and his panda — he helped to put food on the table, a roof over their heads, and a warm place to sleep; was that not the point of everything? Should he be respectable for the means he'd provided, even in spite of his source? [break][break] How much worse would he need to become before history wouldn't see him as a human? [break][break] Callisto considered getting in line for prayer; he didn't have anyone here to pray for necessarily, but was that not one of the points of coming here? He supposed he'd come mostly to watch — maybe even try to find an answer — but was it poor manners not to partake in the aspects that made up this piece of history? He wasn't quite sure. [attr="class","iwbtr-body"] [attr="class","iwbtr-text"] Callisto's fist flew true, finding the flesh hidden beneath Brakken's tunic and slamming against his musculature. Though likely unnoticed by the hero himself as the blow quaked through his abdominals, the lone spectator would likely find something odd in the ne'er-do-well's strike; just as his knuckles made contact with the target's body, stray sparks of plasma seemed to flow from his hand into the impact point, yet disappeared from view just as quickly as they'd appeared. [break][break] In the clouded shade of a storm, Callisto's quirk was like a bolt of lightning flowing from a cloud to the Earth. Though, unlike the wrath of nature, the goon's ability seemed nominally harmless to the naked eye. As he pulled his fist away, there seemed to be no trace of any unordinary contact; no burn mark, no pulse of static, nothing — it was as though it had never happened at all. Was his quirk a "dud" of sorts, with little practical application beyond his own amusement? Or, perhaps, was it ineffectual against this fighter in particular? [break][break] "What," laughed the hero through gritted teeth, "you gonna numb me to death?" Though he'd missed the spark in his pain, a short burst of numbing — one of unusual propensity, given the nature of a punch — had spread through his core before fading into nothingness. If anything, the momentary numbness had seemed a grace from the pain of the strike itself. [break][break] "Sure talked a whole lotta shit for having nothing yerself!" Mocking the small-time villain, the hero threw a counterpunch forward, crunching against Callisto's guarding forearm and sending him backward. Through Callisto stumbled from the force, he managed to maintain his footing, though his body remained shaken from the sheer brutality; looking to Brakken, the C-lister grinned. [break][break] He raised his fist — the one that had cracked against Callisto's arm — to reveal the concrete-covered knuckles he wielded. In his whiffed blow against the goon, his hand had pierced through the nearby wall; in bleeding his flesh, he had then replaced the injured layer with the concrete of the wall itself, arming his dominant fist with an impromptu knuckle duster of sorts. At the very least, it was a painful weapon meant to kill a combatant's will to continue against it, even if the damage itself wasn't reflective of the agony. [break][break] "What, can't even snap my forearm with that?" Though his arm screamed bloody murder and his bones ached all the way through, Callisto could still use it — a fact he would ensure, guarantee even, that Brakken would regret dearly. [break][break] "See–" he'd twist his forearm, even flexing his fingers, with a laugh– "I can still move just fine; sure can't swing as hard as you think you can, eh?" Truth be told, he wasn't sure his damaged arm would be of much further use in this match. In spite of his boast, and even further despite his improvised demonstration, the consequences of his guard were significant enough to impair his opposite limb — if Callisto was forced into a contest solely predicated upon hand-to-hand prowess, he was sure that he'd fall just short of his opponent. [break][break] So, he wouldn't leave himself to such a competition where the outcome was already decided. [break][break] As Brakken made for an enraged charge, electricity crackled across Callisto's figure — flowing up from his feet and up to the tips of his hair, it, too, disappeared just as quickly as it had begun; this time, however, the pieces had been put into place to manifest his advantage. Just as the C-lister took a step forward on the damp terrain, an unknown force dragged him out of his mid-stride balance and through the air, as though he was lifted up by the winds themselves. But, of course, it wasn't the winds that pulled Brakken: it was the force of magnetism. [break][break] "That positive charge I gave him isn't particularly potent; on its own, it wouldn't do much to actually affect him. But, by amplifying my body's own charge with my maximum output–" the villain pulled back his dominant fist, reeling it back like he was drawing the string of a bow– "he'll be pulled towards me, and I'll be the only one in full control of my body."[break][break] Callisto's fist made its mark on the hero's cheek, slamming into him with the full force of his body's frame; though, just as his opponent would be knocked away, he would again be pulled back towards the villain. [break][break] "And he won't stop getting pulled towards me — so I'll bury my fist in his face as many times as I need to do!"[break][break][break][break][break] 6/30 Charges, Negative[break] -1 Charge (D- Outside Target, 3 turns)[break] -5 Charges (C Self Target, 3 turns)[break] = 0/30 Charges, Negative [attr="class","iwbtr-footer"] [attr="class","iwbtr-credit"] SELKIE[newclass=.iwbtr-contain] width: 500px; background: #efefef; display: flex; flex-flow: row wrap; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head] width: 100%; height: 250px; position: relative; background: var(--iwbtr-img); background-color: var(--iwbtr-accent); background-blend-mode: luminosity; background-size: cover; border-bottom: 7px solid #222; overflow: hidden; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head::before] content: ""; position: absolute; left: -1px; top: -1px; clip-path: polygon(100% 0, 0 0, 0 100%); width: 50%; height: 100%; background-color: #000; opacity: 0.2; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head::after] content: ""; position: absolute; bottom: -1px; right: -1px; height: 125px; width: 125px; background: #fff; clip-path: polygon(100% 0, 0% 100%, 100% 100%); opacity: 0.15; z-index: 0; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head div] position: absolute; z-index: 1; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-ly-1] height: 0px; color: #fa712d; text-transform: uppercase; font: 700 20px roboto; bottom: 90px; right: 25px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-ly-2] height: 50px; font: 700 60px/100% Old Standard TT; color: #fa712d; text-transform: uppercase; bottom: 25px; right: 25px; position: relative; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-ly-2::after] content: ""; position: absolute; width: 10px; height: 15px; background: var(--iwbtr-accent); bottom: 0px; right: 0px; width: 100%; z-index: -1; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-body] width: 500px; position: relative; background: #f8f8f8; overflow: hidden; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-text] padding: 60px; font: 400 14px/18px Old Standard TT; color: #2b2b2b; text-align: justify; position: relative; z-index: 1; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-quote] width: 65px; height: 69px; margin-right: 10px; display: inline-block; float: left; background: var(--iwbtr-accent); clip-path: polygon(25% 0%, 100% 0%, 75% 100%, 0% 100%); shape-outside: polygon(25% 0%, 100% 0%, 75% 100%, 0% 100%); display: flex; align-items: center; justify-content: center; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-quote:before] content: "\eca8"; font-family: "honeybee"; color: #111; font-size: 24px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-body::after] content: ""; width: 50%; height: 120%; position: absolute; right: -100px; top: -50px; background: url(https://image.ibb.co/eA8wR8/40.png); transform: scaleX(-1); opacity: 0.2; filter: grayscale(100%) contrast(75%); z-index: 0; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-body::before] content: ""; position: absolute; top: 0px; right: 0px; z-index: 1; height: 100%; width: 150px; background: rgb(248, 248, 248); background: linear-gradient( 90deg, rgba(248, 248, 248, 1) 0%, rgba(255, 255, 255, 0) 100% ); [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer] width: calc(100% - 100px); background-color: #111; position: relative; border-bottom: 7px solid var(--iwbtr-accent); display: flex; flex-flow: row nowrap; align-items: center; padding: 40px 50px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer::before] content: ""; position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; background:var(--iwbtr-img); background-position: bottom; filter: grayscale(100%) contrast(75%); opacity: 0.175; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer div] height: 20px; display: flex; flex-flow: row wrap; align-items: center; position: relative; color: #000; font: 700 18px/100% Roboto; text-transform: uppercase; z-index: 1; background: var(--iwbtr-accent); padding: 6px 10px 5px 10px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer div a] font: 700 18px/100% Roboto !important; text-transform: uppercase !important; background: #132742 !important; color: #000 !important; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-credit] width: 50px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 450px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-credit a] font: 700 8px/100% roboto !important; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-contain-honeybee]speak:none;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;font-variant:normal;text-transform:none;line-height:1;-webkit-font-smoothing:antialiased;-moz-osx-font-smoothing:grayscale } @font-face {font-family: "honeybee";src:url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/7v31tyaf53kmcv7/honeybee.eot");src:url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/7v31tyaf53kmcv7/honeybee.eot?#iefix") format("embedded-opentype"),url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/awr1gt01c87aaxi/honeybee.woff") format("woff"),url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/hru9ka6dgfcgjg1/honeybee.ttf") format("truetype"),url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/xylorgamsf6fthx/honeybee.svg#honeybee") format("svg");font-weight: normal;font-style: normal;}[/newclass]

[attr="class","iwbtr-body"] [attr="class","iwbtr-text"] Given the choice between an eventful or a banal day, Callisto would have preferred to awake to the latter; assuming, of course, he ever held a say in that regard. But no, more often than not, the hired goon held no notion of what was to befall him on the day-to-day, nor a say in how it would do so. He would admit that half the fun was this inherent fickleness, twists of fate that offered the Venetian flavor to his otherwise mundane work — more so than any office job could, he had the brutal truths of reality to contend with. [break][break] On this occasion, Callisto was left with some C-list hero still desperate to earn their place in the limelight. They were a plentiful type of person to be found — a bunch whose exploits were menial at best, yet still convinced themselves of their impending success — that latched upon every opportunity to have the world look upon them, regardless of the consequentiality of their deeds. [break][break] Callisto had simply been unfortunate enough to stray into such a hero's path with a sack full of some... less-than-legal goods. Not in the effort to sell, per se, but rather a return trip from his buyer; Callisto, in his line of profession, needed to be in regular supply of his clientele's preferred purchases, and doing so often required the extended effort of crossing town himself. [break][break] The C-lister hadn't caught him with his narcotics, though. Or, at the very least, their presence hadn't been the catalyst behind the attacks now thrown in the alleyway, let alone Callisto's participation in these events. Rather, in his truly boundless wisdom and patience, the hired goon had readily mocked the hero in his lack of relevancy; on every front possible, with every breath taken, Callisto derided the man and his achievements — or, lack thereof. From his "gimmick" to the cape he wore on his back, Callisto made it clear just how amusing he found him. [break][break] Granted, the ruined mundanity of his work was entirely to blame upon Callisto, who'd readily instigated the encounter. He'd known it to be a foolish errand, one that would undoubtedly deter his personal agenda — but he couldn't help himself. Or, rather, he held himself to a standard of speaking the truth wherever he could find the opportunity. He'd thought that someone so pathetic, so inconsequential, would simply take his ridicule without making an effort to silence, or to simply brush off his comments as a part of his career path. [break][break] Instead, the hero lashed out. [break][break] With a blow plowing through the side of the alley's wall, a plume of dust kicked up into the dampened air before falling back to the puddles pooling at their feet, mixing in as a dull gray. Callisto had managed to duck beneath the blow, slipping out from his impact before slamming his fist into the man's side. Perhaps it was unusual to openly taunt a professional hero, and even more so for a hero to respond with violence, but truly the most unexpected factor in this situation was the willingness of a so-called civilian to trade blows in the pouring rain with someone licensed to handle criminals. [break][break] "C'mon, c'mon — don't have any more tricks behind that cape or in your overexposed crotch?" Jeering on his opponent, Callisto tried to shove another fist into the C-lister's stomach. "Real waste of fabric down there; packing to try to show off, you freaky fuck?"[break][break][break][break] 3/30 Charges [attr="class","iwbtr-footer"] [attr="class","iwbtr-credit"] SELKIE[newclass=.iwbtr-contain] width: 500px; background: #efefef; display: flex; flex-flow: row wrap; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head] width: 100%; height: 250px; position: relative; background: var(--iwbtr-img); background-color: var(--iwbtr-accent); background-blend-mode: luminosity; background-size: cover; border-bottom: 7px solid #222; overflow: hidden; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head::before] content: ""; position: absolute; left: -1px; top: -1px; clip-path: polygon(100% 0, 0 0, 0 100%); width: 50%; height: 100%; background-color: #000; opacity: 0.2; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head::after] content: ""; position: absolute; bottom: -1px; right: -1px; height: 125px; width: 125px; background: #fff; clip-path: polygon(100% 0, 0% 100%, 100% 100%); opacity: 0.15; z-index: 0; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-head div] position: absolute; z-index: 1; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-ly-1] height: 0px; color: #fa712d; text-transform: uppercase; font: 700 20px roboto; bottom: 90px; right: 25px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-ly-2] height: 50px; font: 700 60px/100% Old Standard TT; color: #fa712d; text-transform: uppercase; bottom: 25px; right: 25px; position: relative; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-ly-2::after] content: ""; position: absolute; width: 10px; height: 15px; background: var(--iwbtr-accent); bottom: 0px; right: 0px; width: 100%; z-index: -1; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-body] width: 500px; position: relative; background: #f8f8f8; overflow: hidden; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-text] padding: 60px; font: 400 14px/18px Old Standard TT; color: #2b2b2b; text-align: justify; position: relative; z-index: 1; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-quote] width: 65px; height: 69px; margin-right: 10px; display: inline-block; float: left; background: var(--iwbtr-accent); clip-path: polygon(25% 0%, 100% 0%, 75% 100%, 0% 100%); shape-outside: polygon(25% 0%, 100% 0%, 75% 100%, 0% 100%); display: flex; align-items: center; justify-content: center; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-quote:before] content: "\eca8"; font-family: "honeybee"; color: #111; font-size: 24px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-body::after] content: ""; width: 50%; height: 120%; position: absolute; right: -100px; top: -50px; background: url(https://image.ibb.co/eA8wR8/40.png); transform: scaleX(-1); opacity: 0.2; filter: grayscale(100%) contrast(75%); z-index: 0; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-body::before] content: ""; position: absolute; top: 0px; right: 0px; z-index: 1; height: 100%; width: 150px; background: rgb(248, 248, 248); background: linear-gradient( 90deg, rgba(248, 248, 248, 1) 0%, rgba(255, 255, 255, 0) 100% ); [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer] width: calc(100% - 100px); background-color: #111; position: relative; border-bottom: 7px solid var(--iwbtr-accent); display: flex; flex-flow: row nowrap; align-items: center; padding: 40px 50px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer::before] content: ""; position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; background:var(--iwbtr-img); background-position: bottom; filter: grayscale(100%) contrast(75%); opacity: 0.175; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer div] height: 20px; display: flex; flex-flow: row wrap; align-items: center; position: relative; color: #000; font: 700 18px/100% Roboto; text-transform: uppercase; z-index: 1; background: var(--iwbtr-accent); padding: 6px 10px 5px 10px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-footer div a] font: 700 18px/100% Roboto !important; text-transform: uppercase !important; background: #132742 !important; color: #000 !important; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-credit] width: 50px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 450px; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-credit a] font: 700 8px/100% roboto !important; [/newclass] [newclass=.iwbtr-contain-honeybee]speak:none;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;font-variant:normal;text-transform:none;line-height:1;-webkit-font-smoothing:antialiased;-moz-osx-font-smoothing:grayscale } @font-face {font-family: "honeybee";src:url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/7v31tyaf53kmcv7/honeybee.eot");src:url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/7v31tyaf53kmcv7/honeybee.eot?#iefix") format("embedded-opentype"),url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/awr1gt01c87aaxi/honeybee.woff") format("woff"),url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/hru9ka6dgfcgjg1/honeybee.ttf") format("truetype"),url("//dl.dropbox.com/s/xylorgamsf6fthx/honeybee.svg#honeybee") format("svg");font-weight: normal;font-style: normal;}[/newclass]

[attr="class","iwbtr-body"] [attr="class","iwbtr-text"] Speakers, up. Track, set. Foot to the tape, and... play. [break][break] Kicking off the ledge and into the bowl, Callisto dove straight into the heart of this underground park. [break][break] If there was one thing to adore Shinjuku for, it was the crowds of people willing to cross that line between legality and a good time; many of whom tossed aside their other responsibilities, indulging themselves in the simpler pastures of life as though they'd be the last ones trodden upon. Regardless of pageantry, regardless of notoriety, and even regardless of well-being, the people of Shinjuku knew how to place their whole identity on the line for the sake of their passion. [break][break] If Callisto was to be truthful, he envied their obsession. He, too, longed for places such as this, ones where the outside world faded away and he was left with the euphoria of his own abilities, yet he held not the same willingness to stake his being on it. While perhaps his compatriots could toss aside their inhibitions, even if for the moment, he could not — no, to place his will over the rest of his life would break the balance he'd so carefully cultivated. [break][break] Did that make his any less, though? [break][break] Grinding the outside of his deck along the ledge, Callisto considered the notion. He was enjoying himself, wasn't he? While the music echoed in this place hidden from the eyes of most, he was in there with the best of them, showing off and eating shit as any skater should. Even if he wasn't staking his entirety upon this experience, he was just as truly here as everyone else was; he braved the bowl, he steadied himself along the rails — he'd had the guts to be here in the first place! [break][break] Hopping out of the rink and offered a pat on the back, Callisto chose to take a seat next to the music, resting his board below his foot as he drank from his bottle. Pushing his board to and fro, he looked upon his peers and their continued vigor; some had broken off into their own groups, laughing amongst themselves as familiar faces, while the majority stationed themselves in the amorphous crowd of strangers. Or, Callisto supposed it wasn't right to call them strangers. [break][break] Though they hadn't known each other prior to this occasion, many found others who hurt and agonized as they did. The weight of Japan had pressed itself upon all of them in some form or another, so it was to be no coincidence that even these strangers spoke to one another like old friends. They hurled insults with no ill intent, made light jabs at each other's ability, and thrived as they stowed away from the responsibilities that awaited them in the world above. [break][break] "Damn bastards," he'd laugh to himself, sipping again from his water. [newclass=.iwbtr-contain]--iwbtr-accent:#132742; --iwbtr-img:url("https://i.imgur.com/7AUMJPa.png");[/newclass] [nospaces][googlefont=Roboto:400,700|Old+Standard+TT:400,400i,700] [attr="class","iwbtr-contain"] [attr="class","iwbtr-head"] [attr="class","iwbtr-ly-1"]was i born to be [attr="class","iwbtr-ly-2"]more? [attr="class","iwbtr-body"] [attr="class","iwbtr-text"]
The Red Light District was a place infested by greed and lust; everyone who partook understood their place in this self-contained ecosystem, and each acted in accordance with their role. There were those who danced that line of libido, who played upon the tongues of their clientele, there were those who hooked the gullible into their schemes, with games that left their players in ruins, and there were those who offered the view beyond sobriety, who played amongst the community as its core pillars. Without the deeds of the plugs, the wax of the candle wouldn't be there to burn the night away, and the uninhibited passion of the night wouldn't sing the way it did.
[break][break]
Callisto, like many in this system, did not partake in his work for charity's sake. He did not keep the night alive out of the kindness of his heart, nor did he do so to indulge in its embrace himself — rather, his work was another factor in steadying himself in life's waves, maintaining the ship of home for his and his mother's lives. It wasn't his luck to revel in this aspect of the world. No, that wasn't quite it; it was more likely that fate never held such a thing in store for him. He could come close to it, even touch it, but never grasp it as others could.
[break][break]
Perhaps, though, these were excuses he made for himself. There was nothing truly standing in his way, after all; drop the familiar boundaries of subtle professionalism and he was more than capable of dancing the night away, just as he'd seen others do. He was sure he could even enjoy it, too, but what awaited him if he took that path? When he awoke the next morning, hungover and lying in bed with another man, what came next? Did he simply return to life prior, pretending that it never happened, or did he continue to become that person, devolving into nothing but a shallow imitation of his former self?
[break][break]
It was such that he maintained this distance, this invisible boundary. His responsibilities were far more important to his well-being and overall happiness than moments of passion, regardless of the settling feeling of monotony. Besides, his life was plenty exciting enough in this field as is, so why raise more troubles to busy himself with?
[break][break]
Callisto shuffled through the crowd, with his thoughts drifting off to such notions as he made his rounds. A buyer here, a junkie there — plenty who wanted to take their night from good to great; and, of course, Callisto was in no short supply to make those dreams a reality. Hands slipped between each other, with pockets never seen drawn from yet all the lighter, as he danced about his customers.
[break][break]
"Good night for ya," laughed one as he placed a bill in Cal's palm.
[break][break]
"Solid lad," went another, stowing away an offered baggie.
[break][break]
They weren't liars, at the very least. No, they were customers appreciative of a well-meaning businessman, who'd more willingly disparage his products if they failed to meet their expectations. But that was all they knew of him, in the end. They weren't aware of why he danced this line, of his past in this scene, nor the factors that brought him into their company. Neither he nor anyone else was anything more than a stranger to anyone else — everyone present was here of their own avarice, even if Callisto would never admit to his part in this game.

He wondered if others, too, complicated the matter.

[attr="class","explorerbody"] [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ PERSONALITY ◂ [break] [attr="class","explorerbox"] Regardless of the ways in which civilization evolves — even including the fantastical abilities granted to a majority of the population — there remain those who endure the thankless work of the masses; yet, in doing so, the faceless masses facilitate the very foundation from which everything else emerges. Some hope to relieve themselves from the role of a cog, and some resign themselves to their fate of necessary inconsequentiality — such as Callisto Tengoku.
[break][break]
Callisto convinces himself to be an otherwise unremarkable individual — when compared to the realm of heroes and villains, at least. He doesn't aspire to a lofty ideal or moral principle, nor does he see himself as one to free himself from being a cog; or rather, he doesn't believe it to be possible to become anything but a cog whilst remaining in the bounds of the civilized world. "Even heroes," he'd posit, "are still roles to be filled, regardless of the reason." The same holds true for villains, vigilantes — the like. He'd posit that these roles, although slimmer in number and dressed up to become spectacles, are no different to the greater world than the average person's duties.
[break][break]
Cal doesn't take to this view out of cynicism, however; in fact, the Venetian considers this ideology to be an impartial perspective of the world, one that recontextualizes the exceptional and one's place in a world where extraordinary is ordinary:
[break][break]
The only thing that separates the remarkable and the unremarkable is the arbitrary beliefs of the worth of such titles.
[break][break]
For that reason, the Italian-born man tries to live life for the moment, not for the prestige or legacy that follows. Who cares if he's remembered in infamy for the next century? Will a memory of notoriety put food on the table, a roof over his family's heads, and a safe place to stay? What good will history's grandeur do for himself and those he cares for if they'll be too dead and gone to see it?
[break][break]
Though Callisto assures himself that a life of such silent acquiescence is the way for him to survive, something within him remains wary. Despite the desire to accept his role — to accept his own philosophy — as something to find peace in, that nagging feeling of curiosity continues to poke at his mind time, and time, and time again. Perhaps he could be an outlier, perhaps he could reach the realm of the exceptional — but what difference would it make?
[break][break]
What worth would there be in becoming remarkable?
[break][break]
[break][break] [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ APPEARANCE ◂ [break] [attr="class","explorerbox"] Though his mind remains shackled by ideology, Callisto's visage stands out as one of artistic self-expression; his body is not a vessel meant to merely harbor thoughts and inclinations. No, if Callisto is the painter, then his body is his canvas — one that must be adorned and brought to life to best exemplify the composition he idealizes.
[break][break]
But any artist must first ensure their piece be upon a stable base; a woodworker, a fine piece of oak — a sculptor, a workable block of marble — and, for a painter, a canvas that won't bleed. Callisto holds himself to such a standard, then, scrupulously maintaining the figure he finds himself best suited. For his otherwise unassuming stature, the Venetian works to accentuate his stockier physique, bulking up across his form. Even to the eyes of those untrained, his body demonstrates a balanced musculature, one honed — and continuously aimed — for overall excellence.
[break][break]
With such a build as his base, Callisto dyes himself in the colors of Japan's skater culture and streetwear; with the wear of brands fitted for style and activity, the graffiti artist wastes no effort in hiding himself behind hues of black, white, and gray. Rather, he bedecks himself in a myriad of colors, often dressing differently each day of the week — sometimes, even, each day of the month. No color seems to be absent from his wardrobe — just as any artist is willing to play with any pigment.
[break][break]
Most notable of Callisto's presence is the recent alteration of his hair. A once flowing, snow-white mane reaching down his shoulders and towards his back, the villain's hair has now evolved into a deliberately untamed style that purposefully demonstrates itself as a free-flowing ocean. Oftentimes, the only evidence of stylization is the two buns pulled back atop his head (which may be traded for a single bun or even a ponytail, if he ever feels so inclined).
[break][break]
When dressed for work as a villain, however, Callisto disregards his normal flair. Though his style of clothing remains largely unchanged, the regular vibrancy of his attire is stripped; instead, becoming concealed in darker tones with a gaiter mask covering the lower half of his face and a hood over his hair. When equipped in such a manner, the most prominent feature of attention is the Columbina mask across his eyes, concealing the last of his identity behind a memorable display reminiscent of home.
[break][break]
[break][break] [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ HISTORY ◂ [break] [attr="class","explorerbox"] The year was 2064. The world's status quo, though still in ever-shifting turmoil, was one of heroism — or, at least, the normalization and popularization of a hero society. Of those spontaneously granted a quirk in their lifetime, one Haru Tengoku of Utsunomiya, Japan, had spent the latter majority of her years in the now superpowered world — an orphan, one of many, left in the wake of quirks. [break][break] At this point, she was still a young woman — only 25, as she'd recalled it — yet the world she'd known was one of carnage and chaos. She, like many, wished to be of aid in such tumultuous times — but not of those who flaunted their supernatural abilities. Rather, Haru volunteered as a nurse, taking to wherever she was sent to aid those harmed in villain attacks. [break][break] Following a particularly devastating one in Venice, Italy, Haru was flown out as one of many aids to the city with the objective of assisting the native medical efforts. A quirk-user with the ability to manipulate waters had inflicted a number of injuries upon the population, with a few drowned in the waters — some sources even suggested that a number more bodies had been washed out further into the Adriatic Sea, but evidence for this remains inconclusive. [break][break] Of those aided, Haru happened upon a Venetian man — one "Lorenso DeAngelo," a local man known for his place in the community as a local storeowner and painter. Lorenso had spent his 29 years of life in Venice working with the many tourists who'd flocked to his home, interacting and learning from the many walks of life beyond his own. Of the many things learned by the Venetian, languages had come naturally with time — and of those learned, one was Japanese. [break][break] Haru and Lorenso got on with one another. Both had been left greatly scarred by the birth of quirks during their lifetimes; Haru in her orphanhood, and Lorenso in the many people — especially those whom he'd cared for — lost in the name of senseless pride whilst being incapable of interfering. They found solace in one another's company, a sense of comfort in their mutually understood tragedies. It wasn't long before the two considered their fondness as love. [break][break] After 3 years spent with one another, the two officially tied the knot; married in the summer of 2067, Haru and Lorenso chose to intertwine their lives. Though Haru, now "Haru DeAngelo," continued her work — traveling the many corners of the world as she had before — the two never strayed away from one another for long; whether she was in Spain, Brazil, or even Cuba, she'd only stay for a short few months before returning to her husband in Venice. [break][break] At some point over the next decade, Haru chose to settle down properly. With an adulthood spent helping those in need, one that left her with the sight of humanity's worst, she ultimately decided upon the start of a family with the man she'd fallen in love with — and so, it was. As the chill of autumn swept through the canals of Venice, Callisto DeAngelo would be born into the world. Though both father and mother were hesitant to bring new life into the world, the simple sight of their newborn — a yet untouched and unburdened soul, pure as the hair of his father (and soon, his own) — dispelled the lingering fears haunting the couple. [break][break] Callisto's early childhood was spent in Venice, with his first decade of life spent in the winding streets, flowing channels, and the locals of his beautiful home. The world was smaller — simpler — in such a place, with the passage of time a stranger; it was as though the world itself never aged, regardless of its inhabitants. Yet, the beauty in its wake was always admired, brought to life in careful pigments upon canvases for those that followed. [break][break] But, in this miniature world that never seemed to change, Haru found a sense of discomfort growing inside her heart. Though she loved the city — and even more so the man she'd met in it — the passing years left her isolated with only herself, her child, and her husband — with nothing else left to pursue or show for it. Her husband, by contrast, held little reason to ever venture beyond his home; after all, visitors from all across the world gathered in Venice, even if only as tourists. [break][break] There was no suitable compromise for the two to live as they each saw fit. Though they loved one another — a feeling still maintained to the present — they could not find a suitable course for mutual happiness. At least, not together. [break][break] Though the decision came not lightly, especially with regard to their son and his place in the shift, Haru and Lorenso broke off their 20 years of marriage in the year 2087, with Callisto sent back alongside his mother — to a place he could learn of the larger world: [break][break] Tokyo, Japan. [break][break] Coming from a place of relative serenity and perpetuity, the bustling metropolis of Tokyo — as well as the, though not entirely foreign, culture — came as an unbelievable sight. A world like this, beyond the narrow scopes of Venice's channels and immediate wonders, was one so much vaster and even more lively than he'd ever known; everywhere one turned, there were people whose lives had nothing to do with the people they passed, likely to never see each other ever again! The still-young Callisto, now Callisto Tengoku, could never think as he had before — not in this boundless society. [break][break] Haru had wanted a life more enthralling for herself and her son — to place them in the beating heart of humanity's progress and innovation, where change was the state of things. Though, to support life in such a place, working alone as a nurse wouldn't provide her son or herself anything beyond the necessities. They would survive, to be sure, but not live — the whole point of bringing her son to such a place. [break][break] But fate, as it happened, favored their boldness. And, as chance had it, an opportunity fell right before Haru's grasp; a job from an affluent man with the necessary medical background (if a situation was to arise), Haru was made a maid whose duties were tied to the man's adopted children. Though the nature of his adoptions was questionable — especially with regard to his treatment of his "exotic" children — she took the role, caring after the three children: Lilian, Umeko, and Rui Matsui. [break][break] In a time when he lacked knowledge of the social norms of this new country, the young Callisto found comfort in these people as foreign to this world as he was, if for differing reasons. His mother couldn't have simply left her child to be as he was, given his yet-honed knowledge of Japan, and so brought him along whenever he would be alone — and, in doing so, made for Callisto's first friends in his new home. [break][break] Though he got on with those he schooled with — learning the social etiquette of his new surroundings from them — none could compare to the Matsui siblings. They were eccentric individuals, whose personalities went far beyond this menial (by comparison) schoolmates; they were alive with personalities, with their own tales of woe leading them to their odd circumstances. He was incapable of changing it, given his lack of influence as a youth, but hoped that his company would be of some solace. [break][break] But the years passed along, and Callisto adapted to his new environment. He wasn't the studious type in any regard, and his artistic ability wasn't regarded as something of worth — perhaps it was a result of Japan's priorities, but it wasn't long before Callisto fell in with the rebellious types. Those who abhorred the way of things, those that wanted to break free, and those with grander ideals; Callisto took to their way of things, making a place for himself amongst their numbers. They were mostly harmless, with little done by the group to draw attention from authorities, but their place in the grander schemes of criminal activity soon came to be. [break][break] Having drifted away from the Matsui siblings and their choices, Callisto spent his late teenage years and his early adulthood becoming invested in the criminal world that he now found himself. Japan had brought him a life more enthralling than he could have found in Venice, but not in the way his mother ever intended; never finishing his formal education, the Venetian became a hired goon, one face of many in a hooded crowd who made ends meet in the way they found themselves suited for. [break][break] Though, as he began his new work — its own form of day job, if illicit in nature — Callisto learned of the incident regarding the Matsui siblings, with his mother informing him of the now deceased man. The details of the scene were unknown to Haru, but the immediate impact left the Tengokus in their now current life; Callisto, working as he does, and Haru, who became a nurse at a local hospital, continue to live under the same roof, with both playing their share of the cost. A seemingly normal life, despite the odd means that brought it about. Even while the user sleeps, or is otherwise incapacitated, their body continues to produce energy. This energy does not, however, remain within the body; when the user reaches their maximum, their body naturally releases their energy — typically through the ground, but any contact point suffices — harmlessly. However, with proper concentration, the user can selectively discharge their energy, including from which parts of their body and the intensity of their effect.
[break][break]
▸ELECTROMAGNETIC DISCHARGE[break] When touching a solid or liquid material (even through his clothes), Callisto can place upon it a layer of his energy — like a layer of coating — that grants the affected area a positive or negative polarity (depending on his choice at the time of discharge). Objects with the same charge will repel themselves from each other whilst those with opposites will pull. The intensity of their attractions or propulsions, as well as which objects will do so more intensely relative to other affected objects, is up to Cal at the moment of creation.
[break][break]
Despite holding a vast capacity, Callisto's body's intensity is assumed to be as weak as it can be, nearly nonexistent, unless he actively imbues himself with a discharge. He can, though, determine whether his body is either a positive or negative polarity without penalty. Additionally, when it comes to charging polarity internally, Callisto is capable of dividing his body into 11 separate sects that can be individually affected; each foreleg (feet included), thigh (also counts the knees), upper arms (shoulders too), forearms (which includes the hands), and the neck, head, and torso.
[break][break]
QUIRK DRAWBACKS/LIMITATIONS:[break][break]
▸STAGE[break] Most everything in a setting, unless otherwise explicitly stated, does not have a polarity capable of interacting with the charges of this quirk. As a result, things unaffected by Polarity are considered "neutral;" this additionally applies to other characters, even those with electric abilities and said electric abilities (unless, again, it's explicitly stated otherwise).
[break][break]
▸CHARGED[break] Callisto, for the purposes of being affected by his own discharges, is always considered charged with a polarity. His starting polarity, as well as his current polarity in any given round, will be listed — likely in the notes of a chosen posting template — for the sake of simplicity. Furthermore, Callisto can only freely change his body's polarity(s) once per round, and only once that round.
[break][break]
▸SPACING[break] From the point of contact, a discharge is most effectively directly at the initial source of contact and its near vicinity. The further out from the center the source moves, the weaker the relative push or pull effect. Callisto can additionally choose to decrease his range if he so wishes, though this does not increase the effectiveness of his quirk.
[break][break]
▸TIMER[break] The electromagnetic charges created by Polarity last for, at their maximum, 1 minute IC time, ending right as it moves onto the next minute. Like most things with Polarity, this is simply the limit, and Callisto can employ shorter usages if he so desires.
[break][break]
▸EMPTY[break] The discharges performed by Polarity do not result in any harm or damage to targets directly. At most, a momentary second — a mere fraction of one, effectively — of numbness may be felt if performed upon a living being capable of feeling.

Callisto best embodies the style of Muay Bouk — a style of fighting defined by offense-oriented use of all one's techniques and options. As implemented, Muay Bouk is one solemnly dedicated to pushing forward regardless of injury; it seldom seeks opportunity to retreat.

SKILL NAME: "I Don't Get Paid Enough For This" (Acrobatics)[break] SKILL RANK: D[break] SKILL DESCRIPTION: Most jobs undertaken by the crook are fairly dull. But there arises, at times, the occasion that some big-shot hero or vigilante decides to make his duties hell. In such situations, where the risk of capture far outweighed that of profit, Cal developed (and continues to improve upon) the skill of fleeing — maintaining balance whilst running like hell from whatever he's not getting paid enough to fight.
