Ah, right — the broom. Though, as the object circled about his figure, pulling him towards the ground, Callisto took it in silence. He'd assumed their form to be stale; in retrospect, there was no reason to figure such to be the case. He'd seen the creature — the "friend," as Shion had put it — in a different, harmless state before. With it now taking the form of a broom, he should have found no reason to assume it could only operate under either of these two modes.

Not that he figured it mattered regardless.

Shion's kick landed true, squarely striking the criminal in the stomach. The criminal, however, made no effort or cough to their blows — not against something so wimpy. Instead, as the foot struck against him, Laoro's free hand darted forward to grasp Shion by his ankle, withstanding the blow purposefully to steal his true target.

"If tha's how you see i', I won't hol' i' agains' you." Laoro's grip on Shion's leg tightened. A blade coated the man's words, speaking through gritted teeth as his accent bled from his gums. "I won't hol' a'ythin' from you."

In this one moment, two things took place. The first coated the inside coil of the broom with a charge, coursing from Laoro's flesh into a thin, imperceptible layer — to the human eye — of a magnetic charge. In the second, Callisto's flesh was once again revitalized with a charge of its own.

In this instance, however, he made a specific choice: For both himself and Toto, the criminal gave a negative charge.

The broom's grip on Laoro drastically shifted as the force of magnetism pushed out from its inside; though not enough to necessarily free himself, assuming the creature remained adamant in sticking to him, it would give him the freedom of movement he needed.

Being so close to the criminal, Shion would feel the teeth in his skull pulled down towards them, dragging the boy along with them. In the same breath, and with the support of his freed hand and shoulder against the pavement, Laoro would jab his closest leg up to kick Shion in the mouth. However, just as the force would send Shion away, the same magnetic pull would bring him again; this time, it would be met by Laoro's second leg in a curved swing, aimed to reverse their positions.

Callisto's leg flew true, striking down upon the younger man with the full force put into his twist. Rung and gripped by the guard, however, he slipped along with Shion's movements, swinging slightly as his leg was grappled to the floor. Regardless of his outcome, Callisto felt his blow to be effective — he was sure of it. How much so, he couldn't say, but he didn't need it to be definitive.

For however much damage it dealt, nothing could compare to the sudden flash of his movement. To have a still target, a few meters away at a distance, suddenly flash before one's eyes surely wouldn't be a scar to quickly fade, nor a wound so quick to close. It was a chink of the criminal's design, one to rend Shion's defenses apart piece by piece.

However, he supposed that assurance came from the perspective of a martial artist first, a criminal second. From that vantage point, he could assume a number of standards by which he could contort himself around his foes. Though in the mind of someone who held no care for such ideas, there glistened pearls of options not regularly seen beneath the brain's waves.

It was so that Callisto stomached a shout, tightening his chest and slamming his fist against the pavement. This brat had bitten him! Like a feral dog, he'd sunk his teeth through his pant leg and into his flesh! Callisto's muscles pushed back against Shion's mouth, flexing as he tried to tear into him. Though, for not much longer than it had sunk into him, a sudden numbing feeling traveled from the criminal's flesh and against Shion's teeth. As though a pair of hands gripped his mouth and gaped his jaw open, an invisible pair of parallel forces pushed away from each other. In this same moment, the energy in Laoro's leg would push him away from Shion's mouth, unintentionally evading the attack from the broom above and rolling him across the sidewalk from his combatant.

Stumbling up with the momentum of his move, the pushing forces in Shion's jaw would lighten; however, to replace it, a pulling force would attempt to bring him towards the criminal, who reeled back an open hand and tried to slam Shion's head into the pavement. He'd put his full weight into the blow, even lowering himself to the floor as he tried to bury their head into the concrete.

"...Don't get up," came the voice with a sigh. His face would still be pulled towards Laoro's hand as he slammed it again. "It'll be better if you don't."

A petty crook was no excuse for wasting one's times. As the thug himself thought, marking his presence as an indicator of tossing away such thoughts, his scheme was of no consequence. Petty theft, petty vandalism — they would soon be thrown away all the same. Mr. Yamada would have his insurance, as most men as he did, and the stolen good would soon be replaced by many more who were desperate to pawn off their belongings.

The cycle of debt would only continue. Others would have to put their treasures up to continue their meager lives, and they would, too, have to pay so they wouldn't be sold away. Though they might claw themselves up from the waste, the debt of their cherished belongings — the locket of a deceased love one, a ring from a late husband — would drag them even further down into the filth, further away from happiness, as they reached for even a sliver of mercy.

But they would receive none. They would sink without any eyes to follow them down, left alone in the darkness of the waste; but Laoro would not sink. He would not accept that place, that destiny, nor would he ever succumb to having his life disposed of so pettily.

He stood there, having come to a halt at the sight of the witch hanging high above him, and stared blankly from behind his mask. His shoe scraped against the pavement as he came to a halt, facing the shrieker and his javelined tool — an emitter-type quirk, he assumed. He recalled their pet "Toto" from their previous encounter, but did he also have the power to create those odd, flying brooms? If so, was his limit only a single one at a time? Were it otherwise, the criminal thought, would they have not sent a swarm after him?

It must have had a limitation; either by a means of resource, mental ability to control only so much, or an effective tax upon their body, their scope was limited. If he was to assume by the context of their "friend," singular, perhaps it could only manifest as a single broom at a time. Whether or not it produced the tool itself or used outside materials, Callisto was still unsure.

Laoro lowered his body to the ground, bending his knees closer to the pavement, with a steamy breath. The broom was faster than he was — had it not been so announced by its wielder, the Venetian was sure he'd have endured a worser fate. Perhaps the boy was still green behind the ears; nevertheless, opportunity was opportunity however gracelessly it arose, and he would not be one to waste it.

As it dived for him, the criminal's body tensed up. Just as its speed would make it an effective weapon, so too would it narrow its vision to the point of impact — to change its angle at such a stage, he thought, would be near impossible. And so, as the broom came to impact the man, an unseen spark crackled from the bottom of his backfoot as he leapt towards Shion.

By combining the strength of his body and the repelling force of his quirk, he could, for a brief moment, outpace even the divebombing broom — and, with the two used in conjunction, he could cross the gap between himself and his opponent in a flash with an airborne leg raised to the sky as he simultaneously avoided the weapon.

With the twist of his core and the swing of his leg downwards, the criminal tried to strike Shion upon the shoulder, hoping to crush him beneath his weight.

Certainly, "friend" was a better indicator of this creature's anatomy — at the very least, not as misleading as calling it by the standard of an actual animal. For whatever Toto might be, Callisto hesitated to compare. Even as it adjusted itself in his grasp, with the Venetian moving it to his left arm alone, he directed himself towards the opposite man.

"Good, that's good — at your age–" he figured Shion to be only a few years his junior if his appearance was anything to go by– "it's good to have friends. It's good to have friends that get you, that see you, when others don't seem to, y'know?" He'd be remiss to say such a thing, for when things turned to him, he couldn't say the same.

Was it that feeling that brought him here, on this day? Though his crimes were of far less severity than the ones written here, would he be looked upon in that same controversy? Would his name be deserving of remembrance, of acknowledgment, even if his life was unscrupulous to most?

Though it might have been on a whim, Callisto's question turned to the younger man with open ears.

"Though, I got a question: you trust these friends of yours, right?" While his left kept Toto aloft, Callisto's right moved across his chest, petting the "friend" he'd been offered. "What would you do if they turned out... I don't know, if they turned out 'evil' or something? If everything you thought about them was different than what you had in mind?"

Perhaps a tad on the nose, he thought, but sufficiently something — a start to the question plaguing him.

Disguises were simple enough in theory. By concealing one's face and other such markers, one could effectively divide oneself from their actions — or, in some cases, provide the necessary appearance to lower a target's guard. Disguises provided a great deal of utility, far beyond just hiding an identity alone.

Of the many reasons they could be employed, Callisto's was not dedicated to the act of stealth. Though it efficiently concealed who he was, there was another reason for its distinctive appearance: it was an act of warning. Under most other circumstances, Callisto would have preferred something more akin to the rest of the people along the side of the road, to blend into the crowd and slip by. But, on this occasion, when the world had worse problems to deal with, the criminal declared a simple idea:

"I'm right here, but I am not worth your time."

It may have further prevented civilians from being lost in the confusion, but the Venetian didn't mark that as a point in his favor.

As a call came behind him, and a hand gripped his woolen hoodie, the man's left arm quickly shot backward, trying to grasp whoever had the guts to mess with him. With their wrist in his hand and a twist of him inward, Callisto lunged an open palm to meet the stomach of his target.

He acted without concern for who the target of his attack was. It was only halfway through his motions that his eyes fell upon his target — a familiar face he'd assumed he would never see again. But, as surely as he was a criminal, he would strike the student.

"Sorry," came the voice. As the man pulled his arm away, he took a step back. "Don't follow me, kid — it's not worth the trouble."

Turning to flee, Callisto tried to continue his sprint away from the scene and, now, Shion as well.

Babel's rain fell down upon Japan. Its anomalous cloud, having yet been charted by the Japanese's collective consciousness, bore down upon Tokyo, its acid rain sizzling against the pavement and its gales ripping through buildings. Those who braved its eye were forced to their knees, with their skin begging, and even clawing, at their bearers, wishing to be anywhere but in front of the demon.

But the rain didn't fall the same everywhere. In some sects, the sky was clear of Babel. There, where the sun shone on the city, citizens walked at their leisure. No rain fell down to burn their skin, no gales would sweep them from their feet, and no destruction would plunge them down into early graves. Along this street, the people basked in the light, going about their days ignorant of the storm the rest of the city suffered from.

Though free of its darkness, however, the winds carried the rain to this place, regardless of the lacking appearance thereof. While the heroes toiled and burned closer to its epicenter, their unguarded wards became plagued with the once hesitant criminal underbelly.

The focus on the heart had left criminals to more brazenly do as they pleased.

"Stop that man!" came a shout.

The speaker was an older man, whose hair had only recently begun to turn silver, crumpled on the street. Or, rather, he seemed unable to pull himself off of the pavement.

Running away from the collapsed man and broken store door, a hooded figure shoved his way through the thinning crowds. He dressed in a way that covered every part of his skin, even his hair being pulled back into his hood and away from sight. Of his concealed visage and its lacking signifiers of personality, there remained a single idea that marked this thug as something more than the standard.

His eyes were hidden behind a Colombina mask, his expression marked in its specific concealment of it. Its gold, more than the blacks of his clothes, glittered in the sunlight, specks of its gaze following him as he made his break. A backpack swung along his arm, shifting onto his back as he moved.

The robbed store was one "Yamada's Pawn Shop."

The title of a "mother?" Yes, perhaps that was the best notion to describe the air Ishtar held. As Callisto's thoughts turned to his benefactor — his savior? — his posture tightened. Just as was true of his own mother, a woman who instilled in him the principles by which he governed himself, the Venetian's eyes hardly left The White Queen, lest his heedlessness forsake him to his untimely demise.

The pull of his quirk was, undoubtedly just as it affected the material, potent — a weapon to harness, an alluring prize to make one's own. Amongst a sea of inconsequentiality, buried beneath the surface's rabble, the gem gleamed in the reflection of The White Queen's presence. Whilst others would disappear, decay, and fade amongst her light, and while Callisto sat in the darkness of the ordinary world, light resonated from the former into the latter, illuminating him from his darkness.

As they left the tunnel, Callisto's gaze fell to the offered supplies. Tentatively raising a hand, a slow finger trained on the medical aid, his voice came as a whisper.

"A mother, huh?" Lifting his eyes to meet the villainess', Callisto breathed an icy sigh. "A mother raises a child, but a mother doesn't decide who that child is — they can only do so much as to guide them, hoping to steer them on the right path."

"But–" he placed his hand on the case– "this is not that." His fingers shook, if only minutely, as he pushed back the offer. His strength was weak, gone from him as he moved, but his body rebelled against its tension. "A mother understands that their children all break differently. If I take this," he'd breathe, "I will break."

Leaning away, Callisto placed his arms back along the seat, declining his chin as he stared ahead. His can — his choice of soothing what ailed him — now stuck to his forearm, no longer needing its opposite's care. What an interesting weapon indeed.

"Please understand the words of a serf — of a child," he'd correct himself, "as I speak. I don't mean to be rude to you, but I do mean to be truthful." Even if, despite himself, his body quaked in her presence. Even managing this posture was beyond himself, but it was a feat he would endure as a testament to his life. "This may ease me now, and it may be inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, but it won't sit right with me. Even if only once, if I do what you're asking of me, the thought of doing it again will always be on the table."

Callisto held no ill will toward cats. Those fuzzy felines, for as far as he concerned himself, were companions well worth their presence in humanity's life. For many, they were a preferable option for a pet — and from the perspective of ease of case, the Venetian could see why. Even still, he leaned more along the lines of dogs; they were bold, and oftentimes times bullheaded — he liked to call them "stupid" in the most loving way he could manage — but they were too sincere for the man to not fall in love with their presence. Even though he'd never owned either type as a pit, his natural affinity was towards canines.

Prior to the last year, however, he lacked experience caring for a pet. Nothing in his life had allowed him the concern for a furry companion, nor had he ever held the desire for one; it was only due to recent events (relatively speaking) that brought upon him a responsibility as a pet owner. Even beyond that baseline duty, his experience with a panda as a companion — something sparse in resources of proper conduct — was totally unlike what one would figure for either dogs or cats.

It was an odd situation he'd placed himself in, both in this moment with Shio and his general living situation.

"Plenty of guys younger than me who've done things I can't imagine. Same for you too, kiddo." He didn't imagine himself much the elder by comparison, even with the insistence of Shion to see him as such. Though he'd seen a great deal in his time — things certainly unknown to the student, given Callisto's duties — there was still his share of blind spots in this world. He couldn't be expected to have seen all the world had to offer at the ripe age of 22.

Then again, he supposed something as simple as holding a cat should have been something accomplished by this point. He'd consider Toto, then, to be his equivalent for a first time.

As Callisto met the creature's gaze, following their disturbingly numerous eyes as they surveyed him, he'd search for any resemblance of a normal animal in its gaze. Though he listened to the taxonomical ramblings of Toto's owner, his intent gaze would be squarely planted upon the beast resting in his arms. It wasn't threatening necessarily, but it was surely unnerving to gaze at. It was surprisingly docile. Even still, he couldn't help but ponder what it was capable of, as quirks weren't necessarily renowned for their lack of capacity.

"A friend, huh?" He pondered the thought. To call one's quirk their friend — it was an amusing notion, but not an unfounded one. It wasn't as though he was the lone judge on the matter. Frankly, he didn't imagine he had any meaningful input on the matter. Even still, regardless of his personal experience, he found the idea interesting, just as he found the history of this place to be.

"You must have other friends, right? Don't get me wrong, this guy's cute and all," he'd say, gently scratching the creature, "but I can't imagine he's enough on his own for you, right?"

Callisto had never been one as inducted in the matters of wealth as his friends had been. Lest they forget, the story of the Tengokus — himself and his mother — had been that of a subservient role, one whose existence was initially founded upon their survival. To live as they wished, and to rest themselves where they sought to lie, was predicated upon the willingness to accept their role.

Not to say their relationship was unfavorable, however. It was this dynamic that had allowed the Tengokus to survive as they had, and to still dwell within Tokyo's metropolitan sprawl. And, even beyond the professional agreement that had begun their first meetings, Callisto considered himself blessed to have found people he cared for. At a time in his life when his world was picked apart, and in its place had been a world reconstructed anew, he'd had found people who readily took him in as another part of their whole.

But, in their absence from another, they, too, had been rebuilt. For as far as the Venetian understood it, he only knew of the death of their former father, not how it took place. He'd made his share of theories as to the specifics — how could he not? — but he couldn't imagine a reality that came about as a result of lawful conduct; certainly not with their sudden disappearance, at least.

Slipping in from behind Lilian, Callisto peered into the home. From what he recalled of the Matsuis siblings, he hadn't imagined their home to necessarily be the cleanliest or to maintain such a standard for their home. Not as a matter of critique — despite his own efforts, his home still had its share of clutter — but as what he'd expected of the particularly... chaotic energy, he'd say, they demonstrated.

Having slipped his shoes off beside the door, the Venetian leaned forward from behind Lilian, balancing himself with a hand on Lilian's back. "Everyone still alive?" He'd ask with a laugh. "I can say I am, surprising as that might be."

"Community," was it? Perhaps there was truth in that for the mind of villains. To reign in their manner was typically an affair associated with clashing egos and betrayal; they didn't come as a united front, but as splintered factions who best kept to their own matters. In that sense, there was no community that formed between them, nor were their dispositions ones that fostered such a dynamic to begin with.

Though, in the eyes of a simple criminal like himself, there was plenty in the way of networking. Whereas villains were set along the basis of ideology, criminality was often built on a shared interest of business — illicit business, to be sure, but business nonetheless. In that regard, civility was found in the maintenance of shared objectives. The clashing of egos and betrayals remained, to be certain, but they often came from a greater understanding of all the pieces in play; at the very least, the ones with enough sense could stick it out for the long run.

Ishtar seemed more akin to those criminals he aligned himself with, though still held the same ego he'd recognized in proper villains. Even the audacity with which she displayed her true identity was of that same origin, and her immediate laugh at the inability to expose her was maddening; not that he disbelieved her, but rather, he found no purpose in exposing her to begin with. He had people to care for, after all; starting a moral crusade was neither something he had the time for nor the resources to manage.

It was such that Callisto's expression little swayed from his previous demeanor. As he took the offered can and rolled up his sleeve, he'd simply shake his head.

"You must know all about the community from that golden throne of yours," he'd muse, pressing the can against his bared skin. His arm was clearly bruised, and a few scabs had begun to form from the coarse impact, but Callisto appeared otherwise undeterred by either the damage or the pain. Though, if Sonya cared to pay attention, she'd find his breaths sharpened ever-so-slightly. "Great view of the serfs from all the way up there, I reckon."

Callisto didn't still fully trust Ishtar's intentions with him. Though all evidence pointed to his survival, the whims of villains often were as incongruent with their goals as their positions were to begin with; and if the previous encounter was anything to go by, he could just as easily disappear in a matter of seconds. For the time being, he'd stick to light banter, keeping things away from the path that ended in his destruction.

An odd creature, to be sure, but certainly, the owner was of an entirely different caliber. What Callisto had previously thought of their dynamic had since flipped; now, of the two, the owner became the oddity. Their immediacy in switching between their bubbly cheer and their disgruntled resolution was rather brazen, and the just-as-sudden return to their former demeanor was even more so curious. Was the quirk — for the time, he assumed Toto was an "autonomous quirk," as heard them called — truly so important to this person?

Was it the same idea of a quirk being the self? As he'd thought before, there could be truth in feeling a connection to one's quirk, especially when that quirk exists as a separate entity to the user, as part of their whole. Though, in the case of an autonomous quirk, perhaps it combined with the idea of a pet to become something just as fiercely protected.

"Right, sorry," he'd say as leaned forward a tad bit, getting a better look at the creature. Toto was surprisingly hairier than the thug had thought — just as Shion described — but just as equally hard to distinguish as any sort of creature he'd ever seen before. The number of eyes on it was especially an oddity. Was it some sort of an arachnid? How many legs did this creature actually have? Did an arachnid need to have a particular number of legs, like insects?

He'd reach out his hands, trying to gently take the offered creature into his arms. "I can't remember ever holding a cat before." Was he supposed to cradle it, similarly to a baby? He'd try that, even if it wasn't what he was used to — it wasn't like holding a baby panda, as he'd accustomed himself to

What an odd thing to be accustomed to, he thought.

"What do you think he is?" Callisto, looking up from the quirk, tried to use a hand to pet them — if a tad tentatively. "I'm not sure if I can call him a cat, but I definitely don't think I can call him a dog either; what do you call him, besides his name?"

Truth be told, he had no clue how to explain his presence in this place. Granted, he had been distracted by something more immediately curious than his inane mess of thoughts, but he was ultimately shelving those ideas in favor of ignoring them. It wasn't as though he was going to find an answer from this place, nor did he believe it to necessarily be the place to answer his questions — even if it was the inspiration behind them. In favor of the easier option, then, he took to the company of this other person, hoping for them to be enough to stomach those thoughts for another time.

Perhaps there was truth in mistaking Callisto for feminine — at least, in some regards. His choice of hair, both in its color and in its styling, was that of what was now feminine care, demonstrated in the minute attention given to its health. Even beyond that, to wear his hair as long as he did was something still seen as feminine, especially in the context of a cleave-shaven face.

But even beyond his hair, the man's punkish visage was something well-manicured. Despite the association of punks — a skater-punk, in his case — with dirt and grime, his appearance was one carefully meticulously groomed; but it wasn't to look proper. From his carefully filed nails, to his clean and ironed clothes, and even to his otherwise blemishless skin — minus the few scars in his countenance — were minimal (besides the markings branching from the corner of his eyes). Callisto's hair may be the most obvious sign of his efforts, but the unnoticed details in the rest of his dress helped add to that sense of nonconformity.

The irony of "punk" and its aesthetic was one Callisto once considered. Was the idea not to demonstrate self-expression, to boldly stake oneself outside the bounds of what was presumed, while the rest of one's contemporaries faded into the background? Wasn't the point to be remembered regardless of one's correspondence, if because one specifically stood apart as something worth remembering?

It held, then, that the most "punk" thing to do was to be tidy and well-mannered, and to enjoy the process behind such care and diligence — even if that attention resembled the stylings of his like to most outside that sphere.

Though, more strangely than the well-kept thug, Callisto looked upon the creature resting in the other person's arms. It wasn't like any animal he'd seen before (even in this world of abnormalities). Hell, to even call it an "animal" felt incongruent, as though it were a slight upon the rest of the world's living beings. For it to be anything but the work of a quirk would have been infinitely more concerning. Thankfully, as was elaborated by their handler, it was a being that existed as an extension of its user.

Callisto had met one or two similar individuals before — a scare number despite his profession — whose quirks manifested as an entirely separate being apart from themselves. He'd always wondered what it was like to care for one's quirk in such a literal way, likening it more to a cat or a dog as opposed to the health of oneself. Such a sight wasn't one that could be overlooked, especially not when it appeared before him without any forewarning.

"Yeah yeah, in a sec," he'd lean forward, with his eyes still set on Toto. He'd address himself later; something more important was to be done. "But can I touch this thing without losing my finger? Like, pet it and that kinda stuff?"

In the sight of The White Queen's decadence, the hired thug felt a pit sink into his stomach. To casually display such a sign of wealth was one thing, one still plenty imperious by nature, but to have that matched by the bizarre practicality seen in its adjoined spectacle? Even now, Callisto felt his skin itching with anticipation, wanting this to be over as quickly as he could manage.

The longer this was to go on, he thought, the more debt he'd be forced to bear. He couldn't yet judge the direction of this invitation — quite frankly, he couldn't figure whether she looked upon him in distaste or intrigue, or even if those were the only options — but, if he was to believe in the lavishness presented before him, he could only imagine it to be a situation of extremes. Whatever the outcome may be, he could only feel that something would change.

Whether or not that terrified him, he didn't know.

And that sickly-sweet address didn't help, either. There was the thought, now, that this was perhaps some sort of staged plan — but it most certainly couldn't have been by a hero; no, he'd seen that man gasping his dying breaths and left him in that alley. There was no change that anything law-abiding could pull. If not heroes, then villains — and that wasn't better. If anything, to place oneself in a villain's sight is a much worse fate than any hero or prison could offer. He'd done his best to remain on the end holding the bat, but he couldn't shake the possibility that there was more at play than he could realize.

Silently taking the offer into the vehicle, Callisto sat across from the other woman. With a deep breath — a sharp inhale, one pretending to ease the pain when he was steeling his nerves — he'd look to her. Only, then, however, did his gaze shift back to the offered supplies. In their hands was a medical kit filled with supplies, but as the hired goon looked closer, he'd realize that these weren't the supplies issued to civilians. Not typically, anyway.

He'd seen them a scant few times, typically when working with higher-caliber individuals. The ones that would spend millions of dollars on a scheme without so much as batting an eye — to those types, it was no different than buying a yacht or renting the penthouse suite of a famous hotel. To be offered such goods here, of all places, no more helped Callisto's nerves than it made the pit in his stomach heavier.

Returning his gaze to Ishtar, the hired goon shook his head. "Happen to have a cold drink — a canned drink, maybe? Dunno if you carry something cheap as Cola–" something cheap to her, at least– "but anything like that'll do."

Sitting his backpack at his right and leaning back against the seat, Callisto rubbed his forearm with his other hand. Though, for the time being, he'd keep his arm hidden in his jacket's sleeve — he'd rather not have his company "insist" that he take some of her extravagant resources, after all. "Bit too rich for my blood, all that."

It was a surreal experience, to say the least. One day, Callisto had been living just as he had chosen, with not a single thought regarding his previous life coming to his mind, only for that past to sneak up on and back into his life. He thought that part of his life was over — he thought that his time as an adult had come, and that those he knew from times before would be off in their own endeavors. In fact, from how Callisto had been split from their company, he'd thought that the Matsuis had moved onto that next stage without him.

Perhaps, then, they'd found him after he'd finally caught up to them.

Callisto dressed casually; in a white t-shirt — just a tad baggy — with an imprint over his heart and a pair of ripped jeans, he walked at Lilian's side. In his opposite arm, he held a paper bag closed, as though to not reveal its contents just yet. It would only be proper of him to bring something of his own when invited into their home, after all. But even more so than that, it was important for him to make it special to them, just as being invited over was to him.

"Seems like plenty much," he'd say with a laugh, pulling a hand through his hair — brushing past the buns he'd put up — as he followed Lilian's gaze. He didn't seem enamored one way or the other, but there was a slight twinkle to his eye.

Truthfully, it felt like fate for it to be Lilian who'd found him. Though he had thought of the Matsui siblings as his friends, Lilian was particularly special to him. Was it because he was the only guy in that collective? Perhaps. or, perhaps, it was something more — this wasn't the time for him to ponder that thought, though.

Following behind Lilian, Callisto offered the other man a nod. Though Callisto didn't have to accept the offer, it wasn't as though he was going to have turned them down one way or another. If he missed this chance to see them again, then what were the chances he was going to see them ever again? It was only a mere coincidence that he'd met Lilian again, even more so the invitation to meet the rest of them again — he couldn't expect such an occurrence to drop on him again if he chose to decline now.

"It's not a hassle beings here — long time coming, really. Hell, I'm happy you invited me at all, given my–" he'd flick at his bangs, smiling at the sight of his blued hair– "differences, since back then." Though this, of course, included the more unsavory changes he'd fallen into. He wondered what Lilian thought about what he'd become, what he saw when he looked to Callisto now.
