Elijah stared at the gun, lips pursed by the speech. There was irony to be had about the man thinking the students were the ones to pull out weapons first, as he thought back to the waiters armed with knives and brass knuckles, few as they were. But no matter what assumptions either of them had, no matter how well Elijah could justify his actions, it was clear that he lost control of the situation. As if he had any to begin with. Before he could react, the man fired his gun. The shot rang in his ears and he froze, his eyes shut tight as he expected pain to follow. The feeling of the bullet wound would overtake everything surely, even as he fell to the floor and the impact would bruise. Even if the blood seeped into his clothes and pooled around him. However, nothing came. There was silence but he was still standing. He didn't feel anything. Slowly, Elijah opened his eyes and seconds passed as he took in the scene before him. There was the man who shot him, finally revealed from behind the door. And there was Claudio, who stood between him and the man. The thing with working with others that he failed to remember was that he wasn't the only one making decisions. That his partner was just as capable of reacting to his choices as his opponent was. Elijah turned to look around them at the question, wondering himself if there was anything else they needed to do. The civilians were gone. The other party, the people they were supposed to protect them from, laid on the floor, having lost their will to fight. They've succeeded in their goal. The victims were safe. But as the Canadian looked back to the cloud, he knew he should've done better. He stretched his jaw and sighed, having clenched it in his time staring at the wisp of smoke exiting Claudio's wound. "Yes." He crouched down and picked up his kukri, sheathing it before standing up. "We're done here." Careful not to step on the people lying around, he moved to the entrance and pushed the door, holding it open for the other student. He glanced at him from the corner of his eye. "Do you need to be taken to the infirmary?"Claudio Bernardo

Elijah nodded, finally seeing Claudio's true intention with his first reaction to the golem. "I see. Unfortunately, people are stupid and don't look beyond the action itself." Not that he was any better, for he too thought Claudio just punched the thing thinking it would have a lasting effect. It did, but he assumed the cloud was trying to hurt the golem and not just stun it into stopping. "You punch and throw things. Do both too much and it'll be all you're known for. I suggest having some tools on you if you wish to be seen as capable of more. Even if what other people think doesn't matter to you, it wouldn't hurt to have more options available." But he had a feeling Claudio did think it mattered. Why mention how others made him sound stupid otherwise? "Right. You saw her. I was blind throughout that part, so I couldn't see anything." He crossed his arms and looked down. "I felt it though. The weight of her just went away after everything." A sigh escaped him too. He looked up again when Claudio moved to depart, eyeing him curiously but ultimately raising a hand to wave. "See you. Maybe you'll see me next time if this is temporary." And between his leave and Emilia's sudden departure, he was alone again. He glanced at the sushi, unfinished as the girl abandoned it when she teleported away. Another sigh escaped him as he pushed it away from himself. He was no longer hungry. Claudio Bernardo Emilia Hall

The boast of the maître d' didn't matter. His colleague's table throwing didn't matter. The living food, the banter, the laughing, none of it mattered. The only thing that Elijah focused on at that moment was the boom of the shot as he found the wielder of the gun at the door, the weapon trained on him after the warning was fired. He stood, frozen, his kukri stuck in a white-knuckled grip as his very life was threatened. Many things could go wrong here. The immediate consequence of making a wrong choice would be his death. All the man needed to do was twitch his finger and the student would fall, and he would be in critical condition if not just dead on the spot. The less immediate consequence would be the man pointing his gun at someone else, and a life that wasn't his own would be snuffed away instead. He couldn't let that happen. He couldn't let that happen again. Elijah took a deep inhale, cursing his shaky breath as he blew it out. He took several more to ensure his voice was as clear as he could make it. "You didn't hurt anyone," he agreed. "But it was no thanks to any of you."He sniffed, finding his momentum and taking it. "Do you realize what would've happened if anyone here tried to leave? If anyone defied orders to stay? The reason why no one was hurt was because no one wanted to be hurt by refusing to listen to you. The hostages' actions have kept them in one piece, not yours."Seeing that nothing he did would outmatch a bullet, Elijah worked his fingers out of their tense state to drop his kukri. He made sure his distancing his weapon from himself could easily be heard by kicking it to the wall, the metal skittering as it slid across the floor. "I didn't want to hurt anyone either, but my actions have caused people to be hurt anyway. To die anyway."Then, slowly, he stepped forward and raised a hand, poised to grab the gun itself. It was a massive gamble; he was banking on the man's guilt to be true and back down from the threat. In the best case, he would give the gun to him. In the worst case... Well. If he dies he dies he guessed. "Would you risk doing the same for a dream?"Claudio Bernardo

The news that they only had fifteen minutes left until they switched partners fell to the back of Elijah's mind, the student focused solely on the instructor before him as they began their spar. He had a lot to prove when he enrolled in the university; while his passing of the entrance exam alone showcased his skill, he knew that surviving the courses was the true test. The other students weren't friends, they were a minimum he had to reach and surpass if he wanted to remain in the institution. Gleipnir choosing not to use her Quirk suited him just fine - he could respect her choice not to depend on it. So when he did land a hit on her - a true hit, not her just faking her pain for his benefit - there was a sense of pride. He learned early on to take every victory for what it was, no matter how small. Months of trial and error on moving his prosthetic taught him that lesson well. Elijah bowed to her. "Thank you for your time." Straightening again, he mimicked her thumbs up. "If I land a hit on them as well, I will tell them you encouraged me." Maybe it wasn't the best sentiment, but all he said was the truth. He didn't plan on backing down when facing the other heroes. Arataki Noa Iphigenia Pavlina Shirayuki Mai Sadako Gotoh Takeo Hoga

Elijah eyed how quickly the other men moved aside, their actions showing just how much they respected - maybe even feared - their leader's power. He huffed as their main adversary struck his ladle against the pitcher. "Part of being underground is not involving myself in all-out brawls like this." His eyes widened as a table blocked his vision temporarily, stepping back as he heard thuds and sloshes on the other side. He turned to Claudio - who seemed to no longer be suffering so he took in his strange appearance instead. Did he just absorb that water? But now wasn't the time to question it. "Evidently, we're way past that."When their cover was lost, Elijah split from the cloud. "And you seem to-" he ducked under a roast chicken "misunderstand-" a mound of pasta was sliced with precision, "what my kukri is for." He stabbed a moving burger on the floor, glancing at the cloud with another unimpressed look. "I suggest you focus on your own methods.""If you wish to be the distraction though, I'm not stopping you. Try to keep him away from me." Without further preamble, Elijah ducked under a table that wasn't thrown, using its sheet to remain unseen from the second wave of food. He remained crouched as he moved from one table to the next then, making his way to the kitchen door while the maître d' seemed keen on staying by the counter. Claudio Bernardo

All Elijah could do was shrug when Claudio continued to be unsure of himself. At that point there wasn't much Elijah could do about it. "I'm sure there's people who will make their new Quirks your problem." He twirled a finger at the space around them but, remembering he was invisible, picked up a chopstick and spun it in his hand before tossing it in the air so it went visible and catching it again. "I'm waiting for knives to fly at our faces."He hummed. "Fair. You really don't put stock in their words. But that doesn't prevent you from saying those words in the first place does it?" Elijah stretched his arms in the air, breathing in as he did so. "You care too much about what other people think."Elijah glanced between the two, the cloud on the verge of falling with the way he was sitting, while the currently-not-teleporting girl was shoving sushi in her mouth and staring at the table. "Unfortunate. Hopefully you won't starve. If this becomes permanent though, I'm sure you'll learn not to disappear so you can eat regularly again."But right, there was the crisis that happened before the whole psychic power saga started. The invisible freshman's face soured at the memory. "Cuts and bruises. A popped shoulder. Nothing too bad all things considered." He eyed the precariously positioned cloud. "You really did just punch it in the face as your first reaction." Ah. Wait. He still couldn't be seen, so he placed the chopstick down so it blinked back into existence, thin side pointing at Claudio. Then a sigh as Emilia showed her gratitude once again, but for something more serious than rice and fish. He's not used to being thanked; all he could do was default to his shrug that no one would see. "Thank you too I guess. If you didn't turn to stone I would've been dead. You as well Bernardo, for kicking that woman."Claudio Bernardo Emilia Hall

Elijah pursed his lips as he watched the rest of Hotrod's body burn as his hands did, proving that his torso too was resistant to the daggers if he could react in time. His Quirk extended beyond his limbs after all. That was going to be annoying. Though it looked like his partner had a good handle on how to deal with him. Elijah's eyes were drawn to the cloud as Claudio leaped over, and he could only watch as the student made a big show of his attack and launched their other adversaries at their burning opponent. At least the man was mindful enough not to hurt his friends as they tumbled into a heap. The pretend quirkless' eyes went half-lidded however, unimpressed by the display. "Do you usually say your moves out loud? It's counter-intuitive if you want to catch them by surprise." It did work in the moment though. He'll give him that. He was about to tell him to save the questions about his arm for later when Claudio was doused in scalding food. Elijah twitched at the scream as he turned to the maître d'. "Too late for that," he quipped, because the man hurt the hero student already. "You already received your warning." That was all he had to say on the matter before he moved into action. The food reminded him that they were in a restaurant so Elijah took stock of the tables surrounding them. Luckily for him, one held a pitcher of cold water and the pile of waiters was too dazed to stop him from getting to it. He picked it up and, without warning, poured its contents on Claudio. He'll probably complain about getting wet but the freshman couldn't care less. He was burning, Elijah stopped the burning. That was all there was to it. Elijah then threw the empty pitcher at the maître d', to stun the man before drawing one kukri from its sheath. He twirled it into position as he addressed the other student. "Hope you're hungry for more. He's about to give us several courses."Claudio Bernardo

A hum escaped the invisible student at the cloud's answer, and if the lack of reaction on Emilia's end meant anything, it's that he really didn't turn invisible with him. "My new Quirk requires more than touch then. Though it makes me wonder if its limit is dependent on size as you mentioned." Just because his chopsticks disappeared when he lifted them, it didn't necessarily meant anything he carried would turn invisible with him. That was his thought process at least. Elijah made a face at Emilia's gratitude, confused by what he thought was an overreaction. "It's just sushi." Giving less than a meal's worth of food was hardly a cause to celebrate. His brow was further furrowed at Claudio's words. "Temporary? Why would they think that?" As he watched more stars flare up indoors, he thought of how there were no signs of the new powers fading. Then a sigh escaped him as his thoughts were out loud. "But true. There really is no point in speculating." Except he was anyway. Possibly permanent invisibility for his power? It just made it even easier for him to run and hide from his problems. One coward's Quirk for another. How truly unfortunate. Shaken from his thoughts, he nodded in agreement with the blonde. "Lack of experience doesn't bar you from an opinion. People hate food they've never tasted all the time." Those may not be the most reassuring of words, but he was aiming for the truth as he always had. Claudio Bernardo Emilia Hall

Elijah sighed. The cloud was going to stick to the nickname. There wasn't much else he could do about it without repeating himself ad-infinitum, which he didn't care enough to continue. Dreads for himself it was. "Must be nice, keeping your Quirk." As Claudio weaved his arm towards the invisible student, he'd be able to poke him squarely on his chest as he wanted, feeling something solid there. It probably helped that they had the same height. He huffed in lieu of moving. "The targets are random then. Which doesn't bode well if we want to solve this problem."And here came the questions about what his Quirk was capable of. Though he could see the silver lining in the fact that they could only talk about whatever was going on with him now instead of what he was born with. He shrugged even though no one could see him do so. "I haven't tried to hold a person. I can only imagine the reactions they'd have to be grabbed out of nowhere. Or hit from nowhere." He wished Claudio could see the way he was raising a brow at him. "But sure. I can make an attempt."Without further warning he took hold of the cloud's hand that was poking him with his human one, making subtle imprints there as he pushed it back. The contact didn't last long; he only held it long enough to give himself space before he let go. "Did you feel anything just then?" Claudio himself didn't disappear, his Quirk didn't spread to him just then, but Elijah didn't truly know how his invisibility affected others. Would there even be more than a visual tell? Done with that demonstration for now though, Elijah's attention shifted to Emilia, and his eyes grew wide as the girl blinked out of existence mid-sentence. As if her cut-off words weren't enough proof of her disappearance, he waved an arm in the space where Emilia had once been, but he wasn't hitting anything. She was indeed gone. Only to appear again in a completely different spot. "I wouldn't call telekinesis simple," was all he could say when she returned. "It's a miracle none of us are in the air right now with how many people have that here."Elijah eyed her slumped form, thinking. "Your uncontrolled teleportation is however concerning." A pause. Then, reluctantly, the plate of sushi was pushed towards her. "Eat. I can get more for myself and I doubt the same can be said for you."Claudio Bernardo Emilia Hall

Once the man with drills for teeth toppled over, Elijah would try to pull his arm from his mouth, only to make a face when he realized his grip on it didn't ease at all. There was also an issue with the fellow dreads-haver melting his blade into uselessness. "I don't remember asking for your opinion." In any case, this wasn't good. He didn't have his prosthetic and his blades wouldn't work against this person in particular. And that wasn't even the only problem. His eyes widened minutely at the blast and he ducked as instructed without even turning to whatever it was he needed to dodge. Trusting the other freshman was faster than trying to spot what was going to hurt him. Which proved to be the correct decision as he was no longer at risk of receiving a concussion, with the man throwing the punch getting bodied by the heat man's body. Unfortunately they were able to pick themselves up after, surrounding the hero students alongside the rest of the fake staff. With his back against Claudio's, he let out a huff at the other student's request. "You do realize I'm one arm short right?" Then a sigh. "But sure. I have less to lose I suppose." Meant to be a joke on how he wasn't a whole person without his arm but he didn't have time to explain. Not when he had nothing on him that could deal with Hotrod. At least, not through usual methods. Which prompted a particularly insane idea on the freshman's end. Elijah drew several knives from his jacket again. Instead of throwing them directly at the man however, he aimed at the floor, making sure they hit it handles first so they could ricochet off the ground and add some unpredictability to the fight with their trajectory. If the man catching the first blade was anything to go by, the heat may only come from his hands. If he was wrong, bouncing knives still made for a solid distraction. He even threw a second set for good measure. Claudio Bernardo

While Emilia laid in her bed unconscious, Elijah was awake. They were admitted at the same time, after the golem vanished and medical personnel were able to arrive on the scene. Compared to the girl however the Canadian was fine, having only suffered several scrapes, bruises, a concussion and a dislocated shoulder that had long since been set back in place. It only took a day for him to regain consciousness. He wished he was comatose for longer to avoid the people that came in. It was awkward, being asked questions on Emilia's condition by her friends and family. It wasn't like he knew what was going on. He only saw her get crushed under a monster's foot, which did nothing to ease their worries in the days it looked like she wouldn't make it. Even in the days after she was declared stable they would ask him if she'd waken up whenever they came in, as if he'd be the first to know. Which was fair he supposed; he was admitted to the bed next to hers but still. They weren't the only visitors. His father would stop by as well, sporting a sling he'd gotten in the aftermath of some drone attack. They traded their outrageous stories - laser robots for unfeeling titan - and then they just talked, with his father ending their conversation with a pat on Elijah's head before leaving. He would come back at least once a day to bring food. Beyond the doctors and Emilia's entourage, that had been the only interaction Elijah got. Currently he was without his prosthetic as he scrolled through his phone from his side of their room, bereft of presents save for some snacks. A sigh escaped him. Any day now he'll be discharged and he could go back to his room to scroll through his phone some more. Emilia Hall

Claudio was sensible with the conclusion he reached when it came to the unattended sushi. Food that was just forgotten about for one reason or another. Elijah will however not acknowledge this to be a difficult person. "Well, now you know it belongs to someone." As if to highlight this fact, the plate slid toward the edge opposite Claudio, closer to the now-transparent freshman. Elijah leaned back slightly as only Claudio's head moved closer to him. He's not used to the guy's stretchiness still; it reminded him of a horror game he couldn't name. He was however giving the stare down the other wanted, though he wouldn't know it. "Hawthorne." Dreads as a nickname was spreading. He's not sure how to feel about the casualness of it. "I didn't know how you would react to a disembodied voice coming out of nowhere." To distract himself from the camaraderie, he clicked his chopsticks together, loud enough for the other freshman to hear. "But also, slapping your hand with utensils was funny."The plate slid even closer to his side after Claudio's lean as he addressed the girl. "Yeah, that's me." A sigh escaped him at her next question. He had a good run going for claiming to be Quirkless, but both of them are at least aware that he had one, having survived the golem attack with it. There was no point claiming his current state was what he always had. "No, it isn't. I can't turn it off for one thing." He'd show this by putting his chopsticks on the table, which would reveal themselves as soon as he let them go. "I then learned it spreads to anything I carry."Elijah rested his chin in his hand. "Long story short: I think today's fucking with a lot of people-" A plastic spoon hit him on the head then, which would look as if it collided with nothing before it clattered on the floor. Silence. Then, accompanying a long sigh- "Judging by all the demonstrations."Claudio Bernardo Emilia Hall

Elijah watched with furrowed brows as the person kept apologizing, rambling about ghosts and defibrillations and infirmaries. Panicked thoughts about etiquette when it came to the supernatural. Questions about ways to bring him back to life. As their hair stood on end with static, Elijah realized they actually believed they killed him. Simply by bumping into him in the middle of a hallway. One word popped up in his own head when it came to the stranger. Gullible. Very, very gullible. That was three words but he digressed. He really should get this person to stop talking. Elijah raised a metal hand to poke the titan in the forehead. Then, if they allow the motion - because he's not strong enough to shove them off him - he would push their forehead back so they were no longer right up at his face. He'd continue this until he had enough space to sit up, keeping eye contact with the behemoth throughout the interaction. Only when he was satisfied with the distance between them did he remove his hand from their head. "I'm not actually dead. Nor do I need to be brought to the infirmary." The fallen student crossed his arms, impassive eyes boring into the stranger despite his place on the floor. "Shocking me enough to restart a heart when I'm already alive would kill me." Would it? He wasn't sure but that conclusion seemed plausible enough for him to belief it. PALLAS!

Another shrug at her words. "Mm. I survived." Whether Elijah was 'okay' after the event or not was subjective. Many people liked to believe he wasn't; that the tragedy shaped his outlook on life and he was just scraping by mentally. Having to tell them time again that he was fine was tiring. So it was nice of Sumi to not latch on to that belief. Eyes would glance around the lab curiously before he followed her directions. "Correct." He arched a brow at the glow below him, wondering what it was doing but otherwise staying still. "To my department and request both. I already lost my real arm, there's no benefit to repeat that event." Elijah straightened his head to look at the screen she displayed. Huh. Plant leg. "Strange." It was definitely weird, he agreed with her there. But he was also intrigued. "As long as it wouldn't impede my movement, I'm down to try. Mobility's important to me."Sumi Okita
