HIDE ALL YOUR PRECIOUS THINGS don’t let anyone INTO YOUR MIND mhm, the things we hide Whatever feeling of control Amaya felt she had over the situation immediately dissipated when Iphigenia demanded for medical assistance. Genuine surprise flickered over her expression as she watched the researcher remove herself from isolation, and for a moment Amaya looked as if she might protest at the sudden interruption. 'What was she thinking?'Again she opened her mouth, about to say something, but she stopped herself before she could make a noise. Golden eyes somberly looked down as realization numbed her harder than her body's own shock response to her self inflicted injury. She didn't resist as Iphigenia took her hand. In fact, she wanted the other woman to get a good look at it. "I was thinking," she started softly, "..that maybe I've become too comfortable with my quirk. That being remembered, isn't supposed to feel scary. I just needed to know if it was real." Once the medical team arrived Amaya fully ignored them, holding up her good hand in a silent gesture to keep them at bay. She removed the monitoring devices from her wrists first and set them on the table. Next she pulled her hood back and took off the headpiece. The action left her feline ears exposed, revealing their folded back posture reflecting her fouled mood. In the past she had taken advantage of her powerful healing abilities before. To escape capture during clandestine jobs, for the most part. Jumping down from a three story building, for example. They were always a few scant moments of agony. This shame she felt right now though seemed to hurt more; did she really need that kind of validation from strangers? She thought she had overcome such childish needs long ago. 'Hmm, this is what I get for going out during the daytime.'Again she had to ward off the medics before she could leave. She forced a polite smile and waved both hands in front of herself, ears perking up as she backed away towards the exit, and then left the room. Her footsteps continued out of sight for several beats before abruptly stopping. They then came back. Amaya returned into view, stepping into the room with a conflicted expression. "Right, sorry. There's already enough to clean up, so let me take care of that." With her 'good hand' she pulled her hood back up over her head as she walked to the table where her severed finger sat. Her other hand reached out to carefully pluck the removed digit from the pool of blood, pinching it between her thumb and index finger. The glove on that hand was still missing fabric for the index finger, despite the finger itself being there and attached for all to see. Saying nothing more the woman left the room again, and signed out of her appointment at the front desk under the name of 'Schrodinger.'

HIDE ALL YOUR PRECIOUS THINGS don’t let anyone INTO YOUR MIND mhm, the things we hide Japanese steel. Once revered across the country as the warrior’s weapon of choice. Among the modern era, there existed a certain romance concerning the history of katana style swords, a mysticism that stretched to foreign lands. The Tokyo National Museum held quite a few of these relics from the past, with some pieces even having some connections to the fabled swordsmith Masamune. Kin was never really big on swords, but artifacts like these pulled in big numbers with particular clientele. How fortunate for her that the museum even had a general map of its three floors on their website; the rooms labeled ‘Swords’ and ‘National Treasure Gallery’ looked promising. No doubt there were other things to grab as well, but the Japanese blades were her sole concern tonight. ‘1am. She should be here soon,’ thought the woman as she checked her watch. The garden park behind the museum offered plenty of cover to hide. The mutant herself casually leaned back against a tree, keeping the tree between herself and the museum. Her golden eyes, dulled from the lack of light, scanned the darkened greenery of her surroundings. ‘She might already be here for all I know…’

HIDE ALL YOUR PRECIOUS THINGS don’t let anyone INTO YOUR MIND mhm, the things we hide If the first incident hadn’t been enough proof, the second 9 Bang confirmed that Miroru could readily dispose of Kin’s toys. The villain didn’t even have to look back over her shoulder to realize this; the 9 Bang simply wasn’t emitting its obnoxious banging! The woman sighed inwardly, making a brief mental note that she was going to have to stop cheaping out on accessories next time she went shopping for contraband. Although, as she passed through the subway’s turnstiles she did peek back to try and identify what the hell was making those short gusts of wind she kept hearing now. Of course, what she saw didn’t really make sense to her. It was enough to put together that something was still chasing her, though. Incredulity highlighted her expression before the chase continued. “Just let it go, already! We’ll be at this all morning, kid!” she shouted out in an exasperated tone. ‘How the hell is she still following me?!’ she wondered in an equally frustrated temper. Maybe it was karma finally catching up to Kin. A bad hangover that was preparing to slam into her like a wall of concrete for all the binging she did to satisfy her greedy thirst. It just seemed strange to come this far only to have her quirk fail her now. A discussion for a later time, though. As the corridor opened up to the waiting area for the subway trains Kin suddenly veered off towards the tracks and hopped over the safety barrier walls and off of the platform. Immediately her pace slowed as she backed up against the short wall of the waiting area, crouching down to stay out of sight. As softly as she could manage Kin kept close to the wall and tried to hurry along towards the deeper parts of the tunnel. Unfortunately Tokyo kept its underground railways powered and lit, but the lights in the tunnels were spaced out at least. Kin was also hoping this plucky hero in training would think twice about following her into an area where she might get hit by a train. The stations were still closed as far as the public was concerned, but trains could still be on the move as the subway set itself up for the upcoming morning.

HIDE ALL YOUR PRECIOUS THINGS don’t let anyone INTO YOUR MIND mhm, the things we hide The triangular ears poking out of her cap stood fully upright at attention as the hurried footsteps chased her from above. Was it the same interloper? ‘But I cut her off?!’ protested Kin silently, assuming her dash into the alleyway had successfully forced a break in line of sight. Usually chases didn’t last long due to people forgetting. ‘But then who-?’ Was it a second hero arriving on scene? It was too late to turn back now as she kept running for the subway entrance. Her hands removed a second 9 Bang from her belt, leaving her with one more remaining. As the woman jumped to take the flight of stairs going down in one go, she pulled the pin on the grenade and tossed it back up into the air behind her. A distraction for her pursuer at best, but that was all Kin would need. Her feet hit the ground running, carrying her towards the toll booths and turnstiles. To the side of all that was a security office sticking out from the wall, well lit with a large front window; and, apparently occupied. Kin hissed between her teeth in annoyance as a young man in a clean black uniform was stepping out to try and intercept her. In a move meant to deter the additional roadblocker the woman snatched the last flash grenade from her belt and held it up in plain view towards the man. It sort of worked; the security guard stopped trying to get closer or in her way, but he was still shouting at her to stop. She didn't say anything in return, and only glared at him as the distance closed between herself and the turnstiles. So long as she could make it into the train tunnels she believed she would be safe.

HIDE ALL YOUR PRECIOUS THINGS don’t let anyone INTO YOUR MIND mhm, the things we hide For what it was worth, Miroru’s joke had earned an amused smirk from Kin. It was already hard enough for the burglar to socialize with other people normally, so she had to take the rare dose of humor in her life whenever it came around. Although, that accusatory look of Miroru’s once she had started to piece things together had been enough to tell the older woman to know that it was time to disappear. She hadn’t planned on looking back; not at first anyways. It was the distant cracking of her 9 Bang that had caught her attention. A glance was risked over her shoulder. Kin didn’t understand how, but the girl had managed to launch the flash grenade away from the scene of the crime, effectively disposing of it safely. Both fire and grenades were not a problem for the fox girl. Kin could only guess at what kind of quirker this hero in training was. Relying on her own quirk to escape, Kin changed course and dashed into a side alleyway, attempting to forcefully break line of sight with Miroru. A chain link fence bisected the narrow pathway, but the nimble woman had little trouble overcoming the obstacle. A few quick seconds were all that were needed to vault up and climb over it. She would continue to run across the next street unconcerned with the traffic, or lack thereof, of the early morning hours. Her momentum was carrying her towards a large opening in the sidewalk with stairs going down a well lit tunnel. Tokyo’s subways weren’t operating yet, but the underground facilities made for wonderful hiding spots as far as Kin was concerned.

HIDE ALL YOUR PRECIOUS THINGS don’t let anyone INTO YOUR MIND mhm, the things we hide So the good researcher was willing to humor the request. Good. Well practiced breathing exercises helped her get a grip over herself. No doubt Iphigenia’s equipment would notice the conscious breathing, subtle as the pattern was, but the familiar exertion still did its job in helping the mutant focus and seem outwardly calm. Yet, despite her tranquil visage, dread of the unknown silently took its hold on her as the red haired woman was able to rise to the occasion once more. Instinct told her to withdraw again as Iphigenia turned back to face her. The whole, business-as-usual manner in which Ms. Pavlina carried herself with, and the entire unfamiliarity with this uncanny situation, was slowly causing the hairs on the back of Amaya’s neck to rise for a few seconds. The calculated breathing exercises continued. “I have a very forgettable face, Ms. Pavlina. Under normal circumstances no one remembers me. You are not normal, nor are you a nobody, though; your memory is very sharp. I only have one more trick in my box, and I’ll need something just as sharp to see if you’re the real deal.”From one of the pockets on her cargo pants Amaya pulled out a folding pocket knife. She then moved behind the table the wrist straps and headpiece had been left on, still facing Iphigenia so their mutual experiment could continue. Her left hand was laid palm down atop the table as Amaya’s other hand flicked the blade of her knife out from its handle. Her calm facade finally broke after the knife raised up and came down hard. Amaya grimaced from the flood of pain, but she didn’t cry out. She had severed her index finger, glove and all, at its middle joint. The grisly evidence was left on the table as the mutant clasped and clamped down on her injury. Her breathing exercises took a little longer to reel back in some composure this time, and there was a hint of frustration in her pointed gaze towards Iphigenia. “If you wouldn’t mind… Could you turn around once more? Tell me what.. what finger I cut off.” If Iphigenia wasn’t cheating Amaya, her finger would heal itself and she could stop trying to tourniquet her injury with her remaining fingers. If Iphigenia was somehow still keeping an eye on Amaya however, this test would prove that. Either way, she'd leave the severed digit and the bloody knife on the table for now.

HIDE ALL YOUR PRECIOUS THINGS don’t let anyone INTO YOUR MIND mhm, the things we hide “The situation escalated pretty quickly, yes. I was inside earlier, but I didn’t see anyone else. Keeping my distance doesn’t sound like a bad idea at all, though.” That much was the truth at least, not that it mattered any. Now that they were putting thoughts into words though, Kin did have to wonder just how did this hero respond so quickly? When the fox turned her attention to Kin fully, the latter frowned slightly at the discovery of how young this interloper appeared to be. ‘Shit, she’s just a kid,’ lamented the woman internally. All of a sudden that grenade hanging from her tail felt a little heavier than usual, and her cat ears flattened down in further indignation. For once, it was Kin that broke eye contact first, using the girl’s explanation about her special boots as an excuse to avert her gaze. A junior hero? No, not even that. A hero in training. In other words, a UA student. She looked up in time to see Miroru offering her hand in a greeting. “Schrodinger,” answered Kin when pressed for a name. Her cat ears perked up as she offered a polite smile back. Stepping off the road and onto the sidewalk she then accepted the girl’s handshake with a firm grasp of her own. At this proximity there was no hiding the fact that Kin reeked of gasoline, but she seemed unconcerned with the smell. “Miroru. I’ll have to remember that name, and that fires are no good around you.” After shaking the girl’s hand Kin took a step back. “Welcome to the business, hero in training. You did good tonight so don’t be upset if things end differently from how you might want them to. And a freebie bit of advice? Gasoline burns real well, and it's real cheap.”Well, it was cheaper than conventional explosives, anyways. As her voice trailed off she raised her hand up just over her shoulder. From behind her, Kin’s tail set the flash grenade into her palm, the item now clearly in view. Her body was already in motion as her tail yanked out the safety pin, and she pitched the metal canister through the front display window of the pharmacy. “It’s just business, kid!” was all she said as she started to turn away to make her escape. Inside the store the 9 Bang bellowed to life with concussive blasts and stinging flashes of light. The gasoline on the floor didn’t catch on the first searing jet of explosive light, but there were eight more to go as Kin was already several steps into a dead sprint onto the road.

HIDE ALL YOUR PRECIOUS THINGS don’t let anyone INTO YOUR MIND mhm, the things we hide The greeting was polite enough, but Amaya couldn't help but notice the other woman's studious gaze. As expected she supposed from a University level researcher. Her hand slid away from the large window as she turned to look at the objects Iphigenia pointed out to her. The headpiece looked cumbersome, and undoubtedly would be ineffective if she left her ski mask on. "Of course, Ms. Pavlina," answered the mutant cooperatively. Amaya put on the wrist straps first before removing her mask to put on the headpiece as well. She kept her hood pulled down low, though; it continued to block everything above the woman's eyes. It was when she was adjusting her hood that she caught that momentary break in eye contact. A knowing smile smoothly crept across her lips like a cat prowling familiar territory. However, once the conversation resumed itself as if nothing had happened, it was Amaya's turn to blink in genuine surprise. So used to being forgotten so quickly, Amaya wasn't sure if she had heard Iphigenia correctly at first. "My.. quirk?" Her words were uncertain at first as she tilted her head inquisitively to the side. "No, that's.." Amaya stared down at the devices wrapped around her wrists in vague suspicion. If anything they were reading the fight or flight response to her being caught in an unexpected situation, but the mutant wondered if they were quirk dampeners of some kind. She was quick to look back up at the researcher and regain her composure, but there was a measured appearance of skepticism on her expression. That had to have been a fluke of some kind. "Right, my quirk: Observation. Well, simply put, if you lose sight of me, you'll forget you saw me. If this is being recorded, you'll understand perfectly fine later." Amaya nodded towards Iphigenia next, the wariness still fresh in her own eyes. "Go ahead; tell me what my quirk is while turning around in a circle."

HIDE ALL YOUR PRECIOUS THINGS don’t let anyone INTO YOUR MIND mhm, the things we hide Kin’s view from across the street was impeded as something, or someone, landed in front of the pharmacy with a distinct thudding noise. She barely had enough time to raise a curious brow before all of her hard work literally dissipated, gone with the wind! To the invader’s credit, the flashy display of light that was emitted was aesthetically pleasing, and Kin found it reminiscent of a New Year’s celebration, almost. Under different circumstances the would-be arsonist might have applauded. That being said, golden eyes looked past tonight’s savior into the once more darkened pharmacy in weary disbelief. Even if the complete destruction of the store had been prevented, the mere act of targeting the innocuous establishment might be enough to get the message across. Kin’s gaze drifted down irritably to the fox’s strange boots. What a strange piece of technology. It was a stark reminder of the all too dire need the villain had to upgrade her own arsenal. While Kin did have the means to reignite the fire, doing that would be entirely pointless right now. Although, that didn’t mean there wasn’t anything more to salvage from this situation. Taking one of her 9 Bangs from her belt she then slid the tip of her cat tail through the finger loop of the flash grenade’s pin, but didn’t pull the safety device free just yet. Instead, Kin’s tail held the explosive canister up against her back to conceal it from view, leaving her hands free. Stepping onto the street and towards the fox girl Kin began to make her way across with a calm stride. “There’s nobody in there,” called out the troublemaker in a bored tone, “...and even if there were, it looks like you have things handled already.” Her golden eyes were still narrowed slightly with indignation, but her expression was still a far cry from malevolent. She didn’t close the distance between them completely, opting to remain on the asphalt of the road instead of moving onto the sidewalk behind the fox girl. “That’s a fancy pair of shoes. Are you a hero by any chance?”

This was a rare occasion indeed, for everyone involved. The reclusive mutant usually wasn’t so forthcoming with information about her quirk, and enjoyed keeping those secrets to herself. Discretion was how she managed to keep a low profile living a clandestine life. On the other hand, this opportunity allowed her a chance to interact with a UA University staff member under somewhat peaceful circumstances. Learning anything extra about her quirk would also be a nice cherry on top of this tantalizing treat. ‘Amaya’ would be her throw away name for the day. To further conceal her identity she made sure to wear baggy clothes; black mens cargo pants and a hoodie. Thin black leather gloves covered her hands to protect her fingerprints. Her cat tail was wrapped loosely around her waist beneath the hoodie, and she hid her ears by keeping her hood up and pulled down low over her head. It wasn’t until she reached the facility did she finally put on a ski mask before entering, though. All that left was a small oval of visibility over her face, leaving her golden eyes unimpeded. The hood went back over the mask as she finally went inside. By all means, she completely looked the part of someone with ill intentions and secrets to hide. Despite that she casually waved at any cameras she saw along the way, and even left a small gold coin behind for the staff at the front desk. It had taken no small amount of reassurances that Amaya was only here to see Ms. Pavlina to get past them, and the mutant could feel their eyes on her back as she left them behind. Oh well, not like they’d remember the exchange once she was around the corner. Shortly after she entered the room with the large glass window dividing it in two. Amaya hesitated a moment as her eyes flitted about the room. From her position near the doorway there didn’t seem to be anything immediately threatening, and soon her gaze fell upon the researcher herself. Her gloved hand pushed the door shut as she ventured further into the room. “Ms. Pavlina, a fine setup you have here. Does the University help fund your research?” In an unhurried pace Amaya walked up to the glass window separating the two. Experimentally she put a palm against the transparent surface, eyeing her own hand as if expecting something to happen. “I’m Amaya. Thank you for seeing me. If you need me to repeat myself, don’t worry. I get that a lot,” she said as she turned her gaze back to Iphigenia eyes alive with a keen curiosity, as if Amaya were the one conducting the experiment.

Revenge wasn’t petty if it wasn’t your revenge, was it? Ignoring the smell of gasoline as she sloshed it along a wall of merchandise the woman’s gold eyes narrowed slightly in consideration more than any real guilt. The debate went back and forth in her head as she continued her work in the darkness, shaking the red plastic canister about to spread its flammable contents. The small mom and pop’s pharmacy wasn’t scheduled to open for a few more hours at 6am, but after she was done here Kin was sure the establishment would never open again. Once her gas can was empty she tossed it next to four more identical containers on the floor. The hollow clunking noises the plastic items made when knocking into each other confirmed what Kin already knew: with the fuel all spent up it was time to burn this place to the ground. ‘No; no it’s not,’ decided the mutant finally as she shook a small box of matches in her hand. She seemed to have come to a conclusion about the question from earlier. She lit several matches one by one and threw them out into the darkened store. Almost immediately orange light roared into life, reflecting off Kin’s impassive golden gaze. She might have been the means through which this revenge was carried out, but there was nothing petty about her actions. Nothing was smashed up or vandalized. The security and fire alarm systems were carefully shut down. Even the money in the backroom safe was left untouched as a professional courtesy. After all, she had already been paid, and quite handsomely so. The gas cans would undoubtedly be found later, melted together no doubt. However, this was about sending a message. Hit one of us, and we hit one of you. In her mind, Kin had no question that this retaliation was completely petty in nature, but a client was a client, and they were willing to play by her rules. The fact that they were going after smaller fish made little difference to her. She stayed for only a few more moments to make sure the fire was spreading to the walls and ceiling before she made her exit out a backdoor. The early morning air felt invitingly cool after being near so much heat. She quickly made her way across the street to once more observe her handiwork from a distance this time. Gloved hands brushed at her body in a futile attempt to remove the smell of gasoline from her person as her nose scrunched up from the stinging scent. A long, hot shower would be in order once she got back home. Miroru

General Character Plots It’s neither a widely known name across Japan, nor is it a name synonymous with crimes of the century. Despite that, Schrodinger wouldn’t have it any other way. She’s not trying to be the biggest bad, she’s striving to be the successful bad. The type that gets to enjoy spending their wealth and fulfilling all their worldly needs. Discretion is not only the better part of valor, but it is also the first step towards prosperity as a wrongdoer.
Fortunately for the affluent, she’s willing to do jobs for others. Everyone wants something in this world. Trinkets. Art. Vehicles. Weapons. Contraband. You’d be surprised what you could get, if there’s enough zeros on the paycheck. Stealing something from another person or business is also a service she provides, and is usually her most popular option. However, for any particularly spiteful customers, Schrodinger does offer to do saboteur work as well; though she draws the line at direct assassinations. That’s just encroaching on other villains’ expertise, and bad for her own business as well.
Shinjuku is as good a start as any to ask around for her, but Schrodinger’s bigger haunts are the many shipping dockyards in Tokyo Bay, and the cargo facilities at Tokyo International Airport. People tend to think of jewelry stores and banks when thievery crosses their minds, but it’s at these international crossroads where the real money movers pass through first.
In any case, talking to other traffickers or fences will put you on Schrodinger’s radar. If she likes what she hears, she’ll find you, it’s as simple as that.
UA Plots For the most part Schrodinger is disinterested in the University. Sometimes her work does take her there from time to time, though. There are people who are willing to pay well to keep up to date tabs on the school’s security systems and layout. Her expeditions are usually just probing and studying the layers of protection, but every now and then she finds herself in a game of cat and mouse with a security member, instructor, or even the random delinquent student disobeying curfew.
In Short Here’s a Villain Lite that’s more interested in money than violence. Yes, she can be reasoned with, but she isn’t going to turn over a new leaf unless something drastic happens. Schrodinger is also more prone to fleeing over fighting, so could potentially be a good interaction for younger, less confident heroes. Or other villains looking for creative underlings. Or even pro heroes who aren’t opposed to having an informant to bully. In any case, this stray cat’s loyalty will have to be earned.
Got something particular in mind? Don’t be shy! Kin may bite, but I don’t.
