Uh oh.
That was a very, very familiar sound. Well, familiar sounds. As much by instinct as by conscious reaction Retsu threw herself to the ground before the contents of the golem could explode. Worst fookin' pinata she'd ever seen. 0/10. She'd be taking notes to copy that herself.
When the ground began to give out under them Retsu cursed the fact that she hadn't gotten to the Guardian in time. She fookin' knew that was gonna be a problem. With some luck though that'd gotten rid of Ouroboros's little 'top of the shit list' before he could get in her way. A girl could dream.
Forcing herself back to her feet she cast a glance around, quickly taking in the crumbling surroundings. Getting to more stable ground was a fifty fifty, there was no way of telling what would collapse and what wouldn't. A manic grin split her features as she instead turned to face the abyss. Retsu was no stranger to plunging headfirst into the unknown and she'd come out on top time and time again. They wanted to literally pull the rug out from under her? She'd be laughing all the way down.

Thunder cracked in a way that wasn't too dissimilar to the sound of her own rifle. And yet. This sounded just the slightest bit different. Felt different too. The impact was unmistakable, that was lightning. Retsu swore under her breath. Hadn't Rui been complaining about a guy with lightning powers recently? Retsu could count on one hand the amount of people she'd seen Rui talk about with fear in her eyes and that'd still be the case after another encounter with Sho. She'd rather not have found out what kind of monster could unsettle the devil herself but here they were. Just once she'd like it if shit went her way. Retsu's left eye throbbed in pain at the thought, hells, it might even be purely because of stress this time. Yeah, that shit wasn't in the cards for her.
"If y'r naht 'ere ta kill me blink twice!" Retsu shouted during a moment between gunshots and thunderclaps. She'd put a bullet through his head of course if he was dumb enough to put it within her line of sight in an attempt to reply. There was no point in keeping unpredictable factors around. The enemy of one's enemy was one's friend but that alliance lasted until the exact moment the tides turned and Retsu was more than confident she could deal with the goons by herself. The dude flashing red over there however? Yeah, she didn't feel like dropping her guard so long as that fooker was around.
Several more gunshots rang out, each aimed at one of the henchmen that had exposed their backs to her. There was hardly any methodology to her attacks. She didn't go from left to right nor even from close to far. No, she struck seemingly at random spreading fear amongst their ranks. That wasn't to say she didn't pick her targets at all however, no, several she purposefully skipped out on. They were the ones that the electric assailant could get a clear shot on too. Well, not as he was now, but with just a little change of position he could. Just enough that she'd be able to get a bead on him.

She was blatantly being put up for free labor and honestly, she could respect the audacity. Retsu recognized exacly what Olivia was doing, after all, she'd done the exact same thing when the eggplant had come to her for EMP grenades. She still hated the bitch's guts of course but she wasn't planning to pass up the opportunity to loot the hells out of the group they were about to hit. How would Olivia know exactly how much she needed to fashion a steady supply of sound bombs anyway?
Depth charges and sonar equipment weren't nearly everything she needed to make some proper grenades of course but it'd save her a lot on material costs and besides, what was any business relationship other than two people exploiting each other? So long as Retsu herself came out on top she wasn't going to complain. Remember the slight, sure, but not act on it.
Checking the contents of the magazine of her gun Retsu slammed it back in place and made sure her grenade launcher was fully loaded.
"Well den, after you."

That sounded like quirk shenanigans, Retsu thought as she took another sip of her drink. No further thought was put into the why however. Her mind was already ruminating the how. A pneumatic system? Hollow needles funneling blood into 'rounds' to be fired by combustion? If comfort wasn't a problem then perhaps the needles didn't need to be retractable, just set into the gauntlets so they'd pierce the moment they're put on and simply have caps to regulate whether blood went out or not. Retsu cut her train of thought short after a second or two, she could only swirl her drink for so long before it became awkward instead of a fitting excuse. Still, she was looking forward to seeing the design.
"Sounds easy 'nough," she shrugged before listening to what he had to offer. "Somethin' ah need, ey?" That was awfully presumptuous of him. Like whatever skillset he had could just solve all her problems in one go. Her eye narrowed. Again it was there, the kind of arrogance that would normally have her put people on a one way trip straight to hell.
"Bilrost." The word had slipped out before she could stop it. "Nah, ignore that. Ah'm in the market fer info. Anythin' ya have on the Elementalist excludin' the fiasco with 'is trial." She'd experienced that one firsthand and information on the other parts of it was readily available. While it was possible that he knew some fragment or the other that hadn't made its way to her ears she doubted it'd be relevant. "Koi too, if ya've ever 'eard a' 'em." Those were far more elusive, she herself only encountered them once, entirely by happenstance. Well, perhaps it was twice. She put that thought aside. If she hadn't coincidentally met up with Rui at the specific time they'd contacted the little evil she'd never have found out about their existence. "Outside a' those? Locations a' people caught doin' fooky quirk research or labs related ta the same, whether active or abandoned."
She didn't realize the desperation she'd shown by listing so many options. Were she on the other side of the conversation she'd have caught on immediately but as it was her current speech pattern was a blind spot to her usual paranoia. Latching onto one part of the offer and elaborating this much was a clear show of weakness, the very thing she despised. She'd likely justify it too in hindsight. With as much power as she'd acquired getting nonsense out of the way and cutting the small talk and mind games out would be faster with barely any risk, right? Any scheme that came out of it was one that she could just bat aside with strength and experience, wasn't it?
It wouldn't matter how hollow it rang, she'd yet to be proven wrong.
"Ya got any a' that worth at least as much as what y'r askin'?"

"Oh? Things didn'a filter all the way down the ranks to ya?" Retsu asked with so much edge to her tone it could slice through steel. A volcanic rage bubbled beneath the surface at Junsuina's words, burning almost as hotly as the pain in her left eye. What stung even more was that she didn't know either why she was still alive. From what she knew the fooker that took quirks usually killed his victims. At least that's what the pieces of intel from the Koi facility that she'd been able to piece together had implied. Perhaps her hunch had been wrong. She doubted it and every spike of pain that shot through her was just another confirmation. She didn't even know why she was wasting her time replying. Intuition perhaps. Something about the woman pointing a ring at her felt off. She was just as ignorant as most of Koi's subjects but it almost seemed like she was ignorant in an entirely different way. Retsu wasn't one to think twice about attempting to kill someone for the slightest reason but desperation created room for hesitation. The shine in her eye dulled a little at Junsuina's next words, a crust forming over the volcanic rage and leaving only cold, dispassionate disdain on the surface."The people 'ere don't, huh?" Her voice was flatter than the Maldives. The redhead knew something, this was confirmation. She'd pry it out of the sick fook's mouth no matter what it took. There wasn't nearly as much time left as she'd have liked. She had to know more. It was the only way. Now that thought, that was one that cracked the volcanic crust and brought back the roiling magma of rage. The only way? Fook that, she'd burn everything to the ground and choose her own path. Those cannons were meant to dissuade her? Hah, like they cou-"Maya."The scientist speaking up again caught her off guard, shock causing her to turn her head to look despite knowing what a terrible idea it was to turn her back on an enemy. The thermobaric grenade had gone off at point blank, there was no way he was still alive and yet, there he stood. "Yes, father."She didn't have the time to realize the demure girl from earlier had returned nor did she have the time to look. The girl hadn't even finished speaking before one of Jun's cannons pivoted and fired right at Retsu's head. Junsuina on the other hand had front row seats to the whole course of events. From the mouth of a nearby alley the young girl with heterochromia that had passed her earlier raised on hand in the direction of the cannons, her left eye glowing in a gold-and-purple hue like Ametrine as she did. Jun's control over the cannon momentarily hitched right after, just long enough for it to fire once. Even though the process had taken less than a second, blood poured from the girl's eye and its lustre rapidly faded back to what it'd looked like before just as the girl collapsed to her knees. So too would she see Retsu move her head just in time for the projectile to shred her eyebrow, the skin on her forehead and part of her eyepatch instead of turning her a foot shorter. Death had quite literally scraped her by."AAaaaaaah!!!"Her hand came up to cover her eye just as the remains of her eyepatch fell to the ground. When she next met Jun's gaze hers was filled with fury."Idiot girl. How many times have I told you to leave the eye intact? Lessons never stick with you, there shall be punishment later."The scientist pointed his sword forward and drew a circle in the air roughly a meter wide. From it burst forth a beam of light that threatened to annihilate both Retsu and Junsuina alike if they didn't get out of the way in time. Retsu was dodging before it even fired, tossing herself to the ground and crashing through the door of another nearby house with a roll. Three smaller circles were drawn in the air right after, each turning slightly to aim at one of Junsuina's arms and both of her legs before they fired with enough force to pierce right through should they hit. tagged: junsuina || word count: 734 || notes: x

The Ruis she'd been shooting at didn't get back up. That confirmed it then. They weren't actually Rui. Score one for shooting first, asking questions never. With some luck that'd allow more of the brats on their high-and-mighty platform of 'I'm above you' to go deal with the watery fook. So long as they stayed out of her way that'd be-
Oh great, Oberon was coming her way. She’d only had a run-in with him once so far but the feelers she’d put out after had let her find out some basic facts. That guy was on way too many people’s watchlists to go down without her having to expend some serious effort. As always Retsu had the self-confidence to assume she’d come out on top but she didn’t have the time to expend the effort right now.
Besides.
Another sharp spike of pain shot through her head and neck at the thought. She couldn’t afford to waste too much of her arsenal or take too many injuries here. Not this early. There were heads yet to be put on spikes. Not to mention she still needed the clarity afterwards to search this place. A pained hiss wretched its way out of her mouth. No, further thinking about what could or could not be was pointless. That would have to wait until the fighting was over. Her lips curled into a sardonic, almost sad smile. One that was as morose as it was empty, for it surely did not reach her eyes.
With Oberon striking roughly the same area three of her thermite grenades had been aimed at Retsu shifted to targeting the helmet, squeezing the trigger of her rifle three times in succession. She had no clue whether it did anything but if that bucket of a head contained anything it might just split the thing’s focus long enough for them to win before it struck out with any of its nastier shit. A girl could dream.
TL;DR: >> Retsu fires three bullets at the empowered Rook/Rumbling Golem's head.

The less he seemed to care the more it put Retsu on edge. The mix of casual confidence and the admission that he knew a fair amount about her put her on guard. Was it confidence in his own skills or the Hibernacula's security? Had they been elsewhere and had he not been a client she might have been tempted to find out.
"A gauntlet? Naht somethin' ah've gotten commissioned fer before. Ah'm assumin' ya ain't lookin' fer a regular one then?" The closest she'd gotten to working on a gauntlet before was attempting to miniaturize pistons on a prototype exoskeleton and affixing it to the required plates. Even so she didn't doubt for a second that she could make whatever it was that he was looking for. Retsu could count on one hand the amount of people she considered her equal much less her better when it came to her craft .
"That we do," Retsu agreed with a slight squint. Something about his posture made her feel like he'd just subtly insulted her in a way she couldn't quite figure out. Just what was he implying? Speaking of, his next words carried some implications too.
"Well, y've got me at a loss," Retsu lied. "Ya seem ta know so much 'bout me but ah 'ardly know anythin' 'bout you." She lied again. While she didn't quite have any form of in depth knowledge she'd be a fool to show up to a meeting without having put out some feelers in advance. They'd given her frustratingly little info but she'd been able to piece together a picture nevertheless. How accurate it was, well, that remained to be seen. "What else 're ya offerin'?"

There was a saying about killing two birds with one stone. Retsu had upped the ante by bringing a grenade instead, something that would be quite useful given the sheer amount of birds that grew the stones to try and worm their way into her turf.
Despite how clear she'd made it exactly what would happen when someone tried something like that there were always people that didn't learn. The most infuriating part was that at times they'd even succeed without her knowledge, she couldn't be everywhere at the same time after all and her info network was whatever she could pay brokers to provide her. Something that left her with some rather large gaps whenever someone else happened to pay those same brokers more to keep their stuff hidden. Unfortunately for these two gangs one of them had skimped a broker and a member of the other had sold info on their meeting to the very same broker to make a quick buck.
All of it resulted in Retsu knowing their time and place of meeting well in advance. Sure, she couldn't be sure whether the broker was telling the truth about why they were here or whether the fooker was just trying to use her to clear up his own mess but she could shoot first and ask questions later. If he'd lied that would just add one more name to her list.
When she finally arrived on the scene she didn't bother verifying whether she had the right targets. Pulling her rifle from her back she aimed at the pair and opened fire.

"What barbarism. Such is the plight of lesser creatures such as you, woefully uneducated and ignorant to their own inadequacies. But no, that does not even apply to you now does it? I can see it now. You are failing, know it, and are still getting in my way. Know your place, detritus."Retsu was more than happy to let him ramble while she scanned the surroundings. The rooftop atop which her latest adversary had stood was carved full of furrows and had parts collapsing entirely but she got the distinct feeling her target hadn't suffered the same fate. The tread of heavy boots and a glow from inside of the smokey doorway drew her attention back to the doorway just before the scientist stepped out.Wings of solid light and a katar with a blade that was shaped like a saber and a guard like the cuff of a sleeve had joined his pristine white outfit. Like a physical manifestation of the man's god complex a disk shaped like a halo over his head had manifested as well, one that Retsu doubted even had a function beyond being a sad attempt to make him look imposing."Weird fookin' choice a' last words!" Retsu shouted while throwing one of her most lethal bombs, a thermobaric grenade, at his feet and dashing further down the street. She didn't forget about the other enemy while doing so. Pulling another 'firecracker' out of a pouch she flung it so the grenades would detonate over the rooftops and send shrapnel across them, the alleys around them and both the street she was on and the one on the other side of the houses. It was unlikely to do any damage but if she got a hint as to Junsuina's location she could commit in full. Sticking close to the walls as she ran to minimize the shrapnel that'd hit herself Retsu kept her ears peeled. Any second now.

The previous floor didn't have what she was looking for. At least the area she'd been in hadn't and continuing a potentially fruitless search was pointless. Arriving through one of the teleporters Retsu stepped into the mayhem of Takamagahara West with a chip on her shoulder and a rifle on the other.
"Hah."
What a joke. Like the Ghost of Christmas Past an enemy she'd already dealt with before showed up back from the death but somehow worse. The joke was on them though. It'd nearly killed her last time, she knew what it did now.
From one of the pouches on her harness Retsu pulled several thermite grenades and stuck them into her grenade launcher. Priority one was making sure she could avoid that insufferable spike attack.
thump.
The first shot was aimed for the shoulder of the arm closest to her, just behind its shoulder plate. With some luck it'd stick there and melt through the entire joint, giving her something to take cover behind if its ranged attack took shape.
thump.
The second one aimed to repeat the same thing on its other shoulder. Retsu cast her gaze around as it flew through the air. The fiercest fighting seemed to be centered around a large mushroom. Whatever that was the people there seemed to have it handled. If she wasn't mistaken she even recognized two of the people present there. Yeah, they had it handled.
thump.
A third was aimed at its head. It missed entirely. Well, two out of three wasn't bad. Speaking of two, there was another large threat around, one that seemed far less susceptible to her combat style. Not her problem then, besides, it seemed like someone else was keeping that one busy anyway. Wait, didn't she recognize her too? Wasn't that the annoyance that broke her ribs with soda cans? Whatever, she had bigger problems to worry about. The reminder didn't piss her off at all.
thump. thump. thump.
All three of the thermite grenades that remained in her grenade launcher were fired straight at the golem's torso. Come to think of it, she'd been there too hadn't she? Having had bigger problems at the time she hadn't realized but the water quirker had been in the Dream too, had seen too. With a hiss Retsu put a hand over her eyepatch as a sharp spike of pain shot through her from the top of her head all the way down her neck.
It no longer mattered. She'd work with anyone if it meant burning this place to the ground. Averting her gaze from the Rumbling Golem while her thermite got to work attempting to burn through its armor she looked back to the mushroom. It sure seemed like stuff had escalated there since she'd looked away. Putting her grenade launcher away she aimed her rifle their way. Six squeezes of the trigger sent half a dozen bullets flying their way. She didn't bother to figure out whether they'd landed. They either would or they wouldn't, nothing she did now would change that. Mud sopped beneath her boots as she walked further away from the teleporter. She didn't mind sending some assistance their way if it helped her progress but Retsu wasn't here to hold hands.
Her eye went up to look at the floating Nomu in the distance. There was more to deal with after all. That thing would be her next target, right after the Rumbling Golem was dealt with. She wouldn't mind some reinforcements herself to be honest, something told her firing a few grenades at it wasn't going to be enough do the trick.
TL;DR: >>Retsu fires adhesive thermite grenades at the Rumbling Golem. One at each shoulder, three on his chest and one complete miss. >>She then fires six bullets in the direction of the melee on top of the mushroom aiming to take out the clones. NOTE: Retsu isn't the best shot, it's entirely up to y'all if and what she hits. >>Quietly hopes for reinforcements so she doesn't have to use up more of her limiter arsenal on the Rumbling Golem.

It took Retsu a moment to fully hear Nick's reply, her instincts for danger not having reacted despite the sheer audacity of such words coming out of a mouth other than her own. Her eye twitched. "Ah ken arrang-" He was gone before she managed to finish her own retort. She let out a scoff while stepping away. Whatever. The coward could run, she had bigger fish to fry. Retsu wasn't salty about not getting the final word in at all. She'd get even eventually anyway, and then some.
Letting out a sardonic snort at Rem's rambling Retsu put her eyepatch back on. "Guess ya called mah bluff, huh." She replied, not sure what else to say. Perhaps it was for the best that he hadn't gone for it. Already a throbbing pain haunted her left eye, had her suspicions been proven correct she might not have been able to hide her reaction. Showing weakness like that would have been a mistake. Her teeth grit in anger. Now wasn't the time for that, no, that was a great way to get killed.
”That so?” She responded to Elias, not doubting his sources but being far less certain about his motivations. Retsu was no schemer and she wasn't gonna start trying to figure out what kinds of labyrinthine plans their kind could possibly have. Distrust served her well to face all of them. Still, she hadn't know Elias to lie so far. On the contrary the man seemed to weaponize the truth. She'd believe him until evidence of the contrary presented itself.
Same for Rui's words. She hadn't heard anything about her killing one of the Elementalist's experiments until now but it wouldn't surprise her. Hells, if the little demon walked into this meeting with the guy's head her first thought would be 'There goes my chance to loot his shit.'
When Date left the room Retsu's paranoia skyrocketed. Was she just here to verify their presence before springing a trap? Retsu's hands moved closer to her weapons. She wasn't going to act on her suspicions just yet but she was ready to go at any moment. For all she knew the white-haired 'better-than-thou' acting fooker worked for the Elementalist. Getting everyone into one place to discuss how to deal with them and then blowing the joint sounded like exactly the kind of thing Retsu herself would do. She wasn't going to fall for that. No, her guard stayed up even as the next person began to speak.
Her temper flared hearing Arsenal's words. Pathetic. She was no different from any of the Elementalist's toys. Retsu's gaze briefly went to Olivia. Didn't those two look close? She'd have to rethink her opinion on the mercenary. "Ah say we kill ‘em all." The words slipped out before she gave them any thought. With the floor being hers again she continued, ramping up momentum as she went. "The Elementalist, his cronies, anyone that has anything ta do with the fooker. Burn his shit, grab anythin’ we ken use and salt the fookin’ earth. Those things durin’ his trial damaged wards and that fookin’ tower a’ his nearly fooked over all a’ Tokyo." Pain shot through her eye at the memory. She wasn't about to forgive anything he did, he messed with her, he was going down. "Who fookin’ knows ‘ow he'll escalate next. Stroike first ah say. Givin’ the fooker tahm to prepare moite just make it too late ‘nd ah dunno ‘bout yall but ah dun’ think the law's gonna get off their arses ‘till we're all done fer. Fookers ain't exactly competent."
She had more to say but that could wait until the others here had played their cards. Momentum was one thing but she wasn't gonna show her hand before she knew what everyone else wanted out of this.

As far as first meetings between villains went the Hibernacula was a pretty safe bet to ensure nothing went wrong. Well, violently anyway. The club didn't exactly stop clients from scamming each other. That just came with the territory. Retsu didn't need anyone to do that for her though. Her reputation preceded her. Sure, she'd been scammed before but it wasn't like anyone that wanted to try could ask them how they did it. Not unless their quirk involved Necromancy.
"Yo," Retsu greeted the person she was there to meet as she sat down sideways on the bar stool next to him, one arm leaning on the counter as she got settled. Gesturing a waiter over she ordered a sazerac and gestured for Church's next drink to be put on her tab as well.
"So. Ah heard ya were lookin' ta make a trade?"
She leisurely looked around the place as she talked, not bothering to look him in the face just yet. He'd yet to prove any of this wasn't just a waste of time. That wasn't to say she wasn't taking him seriously however. Despite the safety provided by the club her other hand was resting on her thigh in a way that wouldn't arouse suspicion but put it very, very close to the concealed hilt of Temper. She wouldn't strike first, not in Elias's den, but she'd strike last if Church did. Of that she'd make sure.

A minute ago. "Hmph. I have no interest in a broken, empty vessel. Leave.""Ah, ya know then, huh? Ah'll cut ya a deal. Tell me what a wan-""Maya, go fetch the materials in case seventeen.""Yes, father."Retsu's eye twitched at the interruption, disrespect and casual disregard for her presence. Aiming her full wrath at the scientist in front of her -that was still peering through his microscope- she didn't bother to stop the demure girl from leaving."Roite. We ken either do this the easy way 'r the-""Tch. Begone, scraps of Bilrost. I am too busy to work with broken tools.""-hard way." He'd made his choice. Palming a small disk-shaped bomb she pressed the button in the center and threw it at his chest. The explosion should be small enough to take him out without damaging the surroundings. A pair of wings erupting from his back put that theory to rest, especially when one of them batted the explosive up to detonate the roof instead. His chair finally swiveled her way, narcissistic rage in his eyes at the audacity of her attack."Know your place."The second wing took her right in the chest sending her through the wooden front door.Now. "Haaaaaah?!" Retsu eloquently retorted. "Ah dun' fookin' care how many a' you dere are!"With the smoke still obscuring the view into the scientist's house Retsu turned her full attention to the new threat. An artillery cannon made out of light. Her teeth grit. She was gonna fookin' kill all of them. Pulling a grenade free at the same time as she dodged sideways to make sure nothing had a straight shot from her inside of the house and hopefully avoid whichever shot was about to be fired her way from the cannon she flung the grenade at the redhead."Here's y'r good fookin' reason!"It wasn't one of her normal ones. Retsu had come loaded for bear. This one in particular was a monofilament wire grenade that would send a dozen small capsules outupon detonation, each of which had several monofilament wires on a rapidly rotating spool. Said wires had a length of about two meters and while they couldn't cut through armor or the like they were more than capable of slicing through flesh. The moment the grenade went flying Retsu was already considering her next move, her eye peeled for any retaliation beyond the first shot.tagged: junsuina || word count: 416 || notes: x

BLOW UP! HP: ▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰ 100/100 Retsu put the dead in deadpan as she blankly stared up at Taro after his comment. She'd be tempted to shove a foot up his ass if that one foot wasn't already firmly in the grave. Whatever. She didn't have the capacity to care about his disrespect right now. It'd be paid back in full later. "Hmm- ghh."
Her attempt to let out an acknowledging hum were cut off when the vibration of her vocal cords agitated the shard of obsidian stuck in her throat. Retsu's next breath came out a little raspier as a result while she reached out to take his hand. She was in no condition to stand up but she'd walked off worse, she could do so again.
Her fingers brushed up against his forearm and her entire world changed. Romantic as the phrase might sound it was anything but for her. She'd had some revelations recently, some clearer than others, which made what she saw in front of her stand out even more. Especially given that staring at the box made of light didn't seem to hurt her left eye.
[Join Party?]
She didn't trust it at all. It sounded like some kind of deal with the devil, yes, there was no w-
For a brief moment Retsu's form flickered like Taro's own just before all of her injuries vanished along with the pain. She blinked in surprise. What the fook had just happened? Her eyes darted around to spot anything else out of the norm but externally everything seemed the same. Only she herself had changed. Looking around didn't agitate her left eye no matter how much light hit it and tactile feedback seemed different in an entirely unfamiliar way. Her hand jerked back while she shot an absolutely venomous look at Taro.
"What the fook did you do?!"
