The Gorgon Watches"Q-quite," Hebiru replied eloquently. Embarrassment, shame and surprise warred for dominance on her features at how easily she'd been seen through. Despite not having the quirk for it she felt like she could sink through the floor. "An adjustment that will take time getting used to."
Only long after the fact would she realize the significance of choosing the word 'will' and not 'might'. There was both determination in there and a refusal to believe her old quirk could return. When days later she finally had a moment to think in between dealing with the increased workload caused by this latest incident she could have sworn the thought left a hint of a bitter taste on her facsimile of a tongue.
After deflecting the first two strikes she clenched her fist as she inhaled. Had Iphigenia not acted in time she may not have been around long enough to unclench it in turn. When the swordsman's sword slowed she should have seized the chance to disengage. With adrenaline coursing through her she passed on the opportunity. Utilizing the moment that his blade was pulled back by Iphi's net Hebiru got in close and blew out another panel of Solid Air right in front of his shoulder. With any luck it would prevent him from maneuvering his arm enough to put any amount of force behind his next strike.
It was a move that had so many ways to get around it that no one in their right mind would have made it. Unfortunately for Hebiru she wasn't. Fortunately for her however the swordsman was. Several others had used the moment the swordsman was engaged to pass them by and head for the tower. There was a noticeable pause in the swordsman's actions, as if he were considering whether he could take all of them before they reached the tower. Ripping his sword free of the net he took a step back and sheathed it. From behind the mask a toneless, androgynous voice rang out.
"Do not disconnect the Dream. I will be watching."
The second he finished speaking the swordsman turned and vanished over the rooftops without any further hint as to their motivation, allegiance or reason to fight. With adrenaline coursing through her veins Hebiru could not help but be disappointed that it was over, irrational as the thought may be.

Scylla Awakens"Team F, prepare for combat," Mai called out through their earbuds as the four members of the hastily put together group arrived on the scene. Due to the chaotic circumstances of the simulation and the requirement to adapt or fail none of the original teams of three were still fully together.
With the situation outside having stabilized enough for those teams that had been a bit slower on the approach to handle it and Elijah having the easiest time getting inside somewhere close to Scylla he'd been called in to reinforce the capture team. Likewise Michael was both closest to the perpetrator and had the ability to pursue her faster than his teammates so he was requested to assist as well. Both of them met up with the remainder of Team E consisting of Ylva and Jouma midway before everyone made their way to Scylla together.
They caught up to her near the edge of the compound in a corner that was far less orderly than the rest. The shipping containers there were not arrayed in neat lines, no, they seemed haphazardly scattered. It created a more open area surrounded on all sides. When Team F entered it on one side they found Scylla standing atop a container on the other.
With a dull thud the sides of the containers facing the group all fell open at the same time as the screech of wheels on rails resounded from above. Both within the containers and hanging from the roof framing were black mechanical tendrils with arrow tips at the ends not unlike those of Hebiru's quirk, albeit not nearly as thin.
“Fools. This could have been avoided if you’d simply listened to our demands. You heroes always have to stand in our way, don’t you? Fine then. Face the wrath of the ocean.”
Spreading her arms wide both the mechanical ones all around and almost two dozen quirk-generated tendrils struck at the group. If they didn't act quick they would no doubt be overwhelmed.
---
TL;DR: The gang arrives on the scene, stepping into an almost arena-like open area surrounded by containers on all side. The containers to the sides fall open to reveal mechanical arrow-tipped tendrils at the same time as mechanisms not unlike rail carts ferry the same ones to the scene from above them. After a villainous speech Hebiru Scylla spreads her arms to the sides and activates her quirk alongside the machinery to send attacks flying towards the group from all sides.
OOC: Welcome to the finale of the Hostage Rescue simulation everyone! This one will consist of three rounds, each of which will last a week. To ensure smooth proceedings here's a tough guideline of what these rounds will comprise of.
Round 1: The villain's all out assault. Make your way to her while avoiding, parrying or blocking strikes and begin your assault lest you face defeat. Round 2: Combat, brief but intense. This is where you'll get Scylla's reactions to your initial strikes and get to push your attack. Round 3: Capture or prevent escape. Depending on how the past two rounds went this will either be your chance to finalize the capture or attempt to slow Scylla's escape.
The next round will begin on Monday 27/05/24. Please get your posts in by then!

The Doctor is InWith that the situation had seemingly been resolved. The six guards closest to the hostages had been neutralized, others were flying through the air and Paragon proved impervious to the gunfire that was slowly dying down. While most of the hostages kept low as they followed behind Michael one stood tall and refrained from moving. With her chin raised Hebiru cast an expressionless towards him and his captives.
"How disappointing. Must I do everything myself?" She spoke coldly while letting her shackles drop. With one smooth move she cast off the hood and robe revealing the costume beneath.
"I, Scylla, shall not accept your victory. This is not yet over, heroes. Your time will come."
From beneath her wide dress a dozen arrow-tipped appendages pierced the ground and carried her up. Another curved upwards once she was half a dozen meters high and wrapped around a hook hanging from the roof framing with a few hand motions on Hebiru's part. With the screech of wheels on rail the hook began to move and carried her away to a different part of the compound.
With their leader gone the rest of the armed guards surrendered, throwing their weapons down one by one until not a single one of them still qualified to be called 'armed' guards. Someone was still needed to get the hostages to safety and another to watch over the captives but with their victory at least one member of Team C was free to begin pursuit.

The Doctor is InShe didn't understand or believe it yet but hopefully in time she would. Hebiru didn't know whether she was thinking about Yoko or herself with that but she supposed it applied to both of them.
"Nothing worth doing is easy," Hebiru responded to Yoko's spiteful words. She was sure it would sound like more empty rhetoric but it was a line Hebiru herself kept close to heart, or whichever equivalent of said organ she might possess. Some days she wondered whether she simply clung to it in hopes of causation, the vague hope that how hard her journey was meant it would be worth it in the end.
In much the same way she treated her efforts she hoped that Yoko too would eventually benefit from her words, believing in it without any evidence. A remarkably unscientific approach for someone like her. There was much left she wanted to say but Hebiru knew not how to phrase it nor did Yoko seem to have any more interest in listening.
"That should be all," she replied, well aware that attempting to convince Yoko to refrain from smoking once more would be pointless and perhaps even detrimental in the long term. She'd have to find a different way to dissuade her in the future. "Remember, you may take one of those pills every four hours until the pain abates. It does not look sprained so hindrance should be minimal after some rest. If your range of motion is still hindered in three days or the pain is still present in a week please come see me again."
Hebiru watched Yoko leave the infirmary without another word, feeling the entire time that there was something more she should say but never finding the words. Discarding the thought for later dissection she began to fill out an injury report, update the inventory and prepare to check up on the next patient.
"I guess no one's perfect, huh," Shokuhou offhandedly commented while fetching herself a cup of coffee as well.
"I must ask you not to speak badly of my sister."
With her assistant's back turned to her Hebiru couldn't quite see Shirai's expression. Even so from experience she had a rough idea of what it might be.
"Shirai, mop the floor and change the disposable sheet will you?"
"Wha-" Her assistant replied while turning around with wide eyes and a startled expression. "Urrrgggghhh, fiiiine."
Putting her freshly refilled mug down on the table Shokuhou headed for the supply closet with a grumble, trying to get the mess the sisters had made cleaned up before her coffee grew cold. Her lip twitched up at the memory of how Yoko had briefly looked her way while responding to Hebiru. There might just be hope for those two yet.

The Doctor is InIt was a commonly known fact, most often seen in horror movies, that no one ever looked up until it was too late. The first shout of alarm only rang just before Masao dropped, resounding just in time for everyone to look up and get blinded by the light. With their attention divided between the flash from the top and the distraction at the front it took several crucial moments for the armed guards to realize what was going on before they properly opened fire at Emi and Masao.
It took them even longer to realize there was another threat up above. With chaos rampant and the guards that thought they had all approaches covered being caught by surprise much of their organization had been lost. Contradictory shouts rang out, some ordering to concentrate fire, others to split between both targets and yet more simply firing at whichever of the two had come within their view first with no regard for friendly fire. Only the group of six in the middle maintained some form of order, refraining from firing or even adjusting their aim until their squad leader called out a target.
It was him that noticed Michael first, a pointed finger and curt command causing half his team to aim their guns at the container Michael was on before letting loose with a hail of rubber bullets. The remaining two kept their guns at the ready to fire at whoever came near them first.
With all the chaos going on there was no more room for whispered conversation amongst the hostages. Hebiru cast a brief glance at Kei to see how he was doing amidst the chaos before scanning the other nine volunteer captives in case any had gotten overwhelmed by the situation. For now all the hostages could do was sit tight and await rescue. With some luck everything would go smoothly. Hebiru adjusted her faux shackles and pulled up her hood a bit better to fully blend in with the rest. It wouldn't be long now before the situation was resolved, one way or the other.
TL;DR: Spotting Masao just as she fell the guards are momentarily blinded before splitting their fire between her and Emi, the chaos causing them to fail to spot Michael for a while. Only the center group of six manages to locate him a bit later, half of firing at him with their rubber bullets (which is kind of fucked up when you think about it) while the other half stayed on guard, ready to fire at whoever comes close to the hostages first.

Much like her physiology Yanai Hebiru's personality is akin to a pit of vipers. Her kindness is skin deep and serves only to hide the horrible truth beneath. To the outside world Hebiru is a friendly and upstanding woman whose sole goal in life is to improve the lives of others. She's diligent and caring, always going the extra mile for her patients whether it be through ensuring they receive the best care possible or following up on them in private. Even outside of her job she's supportive of those she knows, assisting without being asked and seeing anything she does all the way through. Despite her busy schedule as a researcher she always puts those under her care first leading many to wonder when she finds the time to sleep.
As The Gorgon she acts in an analytic manner, her every action planned out in advance taking a wide variety of factors into account. A Pro Hero whose actions few could question The Gorgon always places the safety of innocents and protection of society over her own well being and the success of her mission alike. Even to her enemies she offers advice and a chance at redemption whenever possible, only resorting to violence when the alternative has either failed or would be too dangerous to attempt.
In truth however neither persona is genuine. Much like her body itself she's hollow, ever burdened with a gnawing feeling that something important is missing. To blend into society in spite of how alien she is internally Hebiru employs a series of masks, albeit calling it faces would be more accurate, for a mask implies it can be taken off. The two most commonly used ones are 'The Doctor' and 'The Gorgon' used for her civilian and hero identities respectively. Each has their own set of ingrained behavioral patterns, priorities and ways of interacting with the world that Hebiru sticks to as much as possible so that her facade would not be seen through. Not until she finally manages to feel what she has been feigning all along.
Her entire life she's spent chasing achievements, new discoveries and prestige to fill that hole yet nothing so far has succeeded. Even so she perseveres, knowing there must be a light at the end of the tunnel even if she has no idea how to get to it. A little feigned slip of tongue or a bit of prodding here or there are often enough to set people on a path that'll allow her to gain more information relevant to her fields of study, slowly allowing her to progress further and further. Until she reaches her goal she calculates her every move, feigning emotions she doesn't feel to ensure no one can see through her facade. For fear is an ever present companion to her, one of the few emotions she can feel in full.
[div][attr="class","body"][div][attr="class","header2"]APPEARANCE[/div] » HEIGHT: 172 cm / 5'8" » WEIGHT: 70 kg » EYE COLOR: Yellow » HAIR COLOR: Blonde » SKIN COLOR: Light » FACE CLAIM NAME: Medusa Gorgon » FACE CLAIM SERIES: Soul Eater
Hebiru is relatively tall and slender, her line of work and more importantly her physiology causing her to have little in the way of muscles. Her hair is worn as a braid going down the front of body and she has two stylized snake tattoos, one on each arm. When in public she takes to wearing a knee length backless black dress with two stylized white arrows crossing over her waist. She complements this with a white lab coat she leaves open at the front.
When operating under official capacity as a hero Hebiru wears a hooded sleeveless black onesie that ends right above her ankles and a pair of spiraling bracelets. Additionally her hair is braided right over left instead of left over right to throw off anyone that might link her appearance to her civilian identity.
[div][attr="class","body"][div][attr="class","header2"]HISTORY[/div] Even early in her childhood Hebiru's intelligence was noted as being far beyond the norm. While still in kindergarten she was oft praised for her ability to understand and learn things far beyond what was expected for her age range. The warm feeling she received from such praise is something she clung to and chased harder and harder when her quirk's manifestation gradually robbed her of her emotions.
Despite her efforts the warmth inside could not be maintained and with the dampening of her feelings the continual praise began to feel as hollow as her physical form. Even so she clung to what she once knew. The experience she could no longer recreate but forever wished to know again. Her very own internal White Moonlight.
She skipped grades in both grade school and middle school and found high school to be so unchallenging as to be boring. It is only when she went to a prestigious university to study medicine and psychology that she found something that could spark her interest. Perhaps caused by her own unique biology she delved entirely into this field of study, co-authoring and even authoring her own papers as she worked her way through her Bachelor's degrees, Master's degrees and PhDs.
She took to her studies with such an intensity that relying solely on her own research, slowed down as it was by the gears of bureaucracy, was insufficient for her and before long she found herself taking on a second identity as well, that of The Gorgon. Trying her best to keep her two identities separate she researched what she could within her civilian identity -often pushing boundaries and reaching heights few of her colleagues expected- while using her alias to collect data that would either be illegal, far too slow to gain through official methods or unethical whenever she came across it. An occurrence that wasn't all too uncommon given that she mainly targeted villains and organizations suspected of conducting illegal or immoral research and experiments.
The more she learned the more it became clear to her that her quirk was the cause of the majority of the problems she experienced and studying mundane medicine, even enhanced by her 'other' means as it was, would not lead her to the solution she so desperately needed.
So it is that she turned towards quirkology in addition to her previous fields of study, particularly the physiological changes caused by Mutation or Transformation type quirks. Unable to imagine any place better for her continued research than one where a large amount of people growing into their quirks and advancing their understanding and usage thereof gather Yanai Hebiru accepted a job as UAU's school nurse. Her work ethic and devotion to the job allows her no less than complete support for any and all that would seek her assistance, slowly increasing her own understanding of how quirks affect both one's mental and physical state as she interacts with the students of UAU.
And as ever should she find her progress too slow, The Gorgon will be acting behind the scenes to secure the data she requires.

QUIRK NAME: Pit of Vipers QUIRK RANK: S- QUIRK TYPE: Transformation
QUIRK DESCRIPTION: At birth Yanai Hebiru was a perfectly normal child. It is only between the ages of four and six that her quirk began to manifest and her body was slowly changed from the inside out. Over the course of those two years it hollowed out, her insides -organs, veins, bones, muscles and everything else- replaced entirely by slithering, snake-like biological structures. Her emotions receded and her mind changed, its chemistry no longer tied to that of a normal brain. Due to no longer possessing vital organs Hebiru is extremely hardy and needs to lose either half her body or be decapitated in order to be put down for good. The reason severing her head is lethal despite the fact that no brain dwells within is morphological and Yanai Hebiru herself is entirely unaware of this weak point. Should a non-lethal amount of her body be severed or otherwise destroyed Hebiru can over the course of a day redistribute her mass to appear whole again and function once more, albeit with greatly reduced efficiency.
Over time she's discovered she can manifest these serpentine structures as external appendages by consciously using her quirk to compress them into thin, black arrows with razor sharp edges. The easiest place to externalize them from and the one that allows her the most control is her lower back. The quantity she can manifest depends on the length and breadth of the limbs she decides to manifest. QUIRK DRAWBACKS: Unlike when they are within their 'normal' container Hebiru's appendages do not hold the same instinctive muscle memory normal limbs do. For any motions with more complexity than 'Move straight' Hebiru needs to either consciously control them or link them to pre-existing muscle memory through the use of intricate movements. As such her attacks tend to be choreographed during the time in between her manifesting the appendages she intends to use and the attack moving towards the enemy.
Manipulating her appendages outside of her body is akin to moving muscles one is unused to relying on and using a large amount of them causes her aches and exhaustion similar to a full workout. As such she is only able to use her abilities for minutes at a time before being rendered almost immobile by fatigue. Due to her internal structure lacking the strength of a normal human musculature Yanai Hebiru is incapable of causing any form of significant blunt trauma with her 'external shell' nor is she capable of lifting anything heavier than three kilograms. While Hebiru is capable of reshuffling mass to have her 'shell' maintain or regain its outwards appearance should it be damaged actual regeneration happens at the same pace anyone else could regain mass. Depending on the severity of the damage she can require up to three months to regain full functionality.

The Gorgon WatchesWith a curled lip Hebiru nodded her agreement. She'd seen the results of some of said studies first hand. Bile rose in her throat once more at the memory. The sensation was getting less palatable by the minute.
Her shoulders tensed and she froze like a deer in the headlights at the pat on the back, her eyes going wide and turning Iphi's way. An uncomfortable tightness settled in her chest and she couldn't help but notice her own adjusted heart rate. Was this what warmth felt like?
Any other day Hebiru would have taken longer to consider the plan or even shot it down entirely. The wall was sufficient to block off the main road after all, there was no particular need to take this avenue of approach when they could simply circle around and find another way to the tower. Today she simply nodded along and went with it, her mind still struggling to make sense of things. Taking a deep breath she raised her voice to address the crowd, unaware she was standing just a little straighter than before.
"Everyone! Listen up! Pro Heroes are on the scene, do not be afraid!" Hebiru shouted before sucking in air. "Unless you have combat experience and mastery over your current quirk stay-" Another sharp intake of breath interrupted her speech. "-behind the wall. The situation will be resolved as soon as possible!"
It was by no means a speech to be remembered through the ages but Hebiru wasn't exactly the most practiced orator. Taking a few steps closer to the wall she put her hood up to make it less noticeable that she was gasping for breath with her mouth wide open. Shouting took a lot more air than she'd been expecting.
"I'll, haah, go first, Iphi. My shield can stand up to at least one strike. I will draw his attention."
Forming several small platforms out of air in mid-air Hebiru made her way up to the top of the wall. The solitary swordsman had made no move since the wall had gone up, their back simply facing it as they stared at the tower. Hebiru couldn't help but wonder what they were thinking. Did the swordsman know something they didn't? Were they part of whichever group did all of this? Was their presence here unrelated to them and were they simply trying to stop what would happen if they interfered with the tower's operations?
So many questions and no answers. No matter what people asked the swordsman had not said a word. Asking any further would be meaningless. Instead she took a moment to calm her breathing before inhaling deeply and using her quirk. A rectangular platform formed in front of her at an incline, creating a way down from the wall. Jumping was too risky, if she landed wrong and twisted an ankle the battle -and she herself- might end in a single strike. So far the swordsman had yet to react. She took a step. Still no reaction. The next would take her over the line.
Taking a deep breath she crossed the Rubicon.
Immediately the massive sword left its sheath and was swung at her neck. Having anticipated it Hebiru was faster, her barrier growing quick enough that the blow bounced off the edge. Another slash came not a second later, this one aimed to bisect her at the middle. The second had been enough for the barrier to grow enough to cover her all the way to her knees. From one direction. Something the swordsman noticed as they moved to flank her while Hebiru gasped for breath. With some luck it had been enough of a distraction for Iphigenia to act.

The Gorgon Watches"Indeed," Hebiru attempted to reply calmly. It came out as an exasperated hiss. It was said that a person was smart but people were dumb panicky animals. In this situation Hebiru couldn't agree more. When the man whose deep wound she'd just applied sealant spray to tried to push himself upright she pushed him back down with just a little too much force, her hand leaving a red imprint on his shoulder and his back hitting the tarp below with a light thud. Hebiru flinched. She hadn't grown quite used to having muscles yet.
"Sir. Your treatment only serves to stop the bleeding if you stay still. You need to lay still and wait for an ambulance or you will bleed out and die. Do you understand?"
Seeing his face pale and hearing his mumbled reply Hebiru felt a mix of pity, guilt and satisfaction. The latter due to him finally listening. Her head snapped towards Recall when her colleague continued talking. She sucked in a sharp breath, unable to keep the joy off her face at the thought.
"Perhaps," Hebiru responded while doing her best to keep her tone even. She failed to keep the sheer excitement out of her voice. It had to be tempered and quickly. If this was temporary she could not afford to be thought of as a lunatic lest her goal remained forever out of reach due to a lack of support. "But it is too early to draw a conclusion. For all we know it may simply mean our current quirks cannot return and are retained on top of the previous ones should they return."
Fear and disgust marred her voice at the last thought, a shiver running through her. Stepping away from the patient and closer to Iphi she lowered her voice and continued
"A lab I once raided was performing illegal research along the same lines," she had to pause speaking to retch, covering her mouth with her hand to prevent herself from hurling. Another new concept, for a stomach or esophagus were not things she'd had for a great many years. Despite the pain and discomfort Hebiru couldn't help but feel ecstatic. It was all so intense. "None of the test subjects were able to be saved by the time I got there. Only a few were still alive."
She left what happened to them unspoken. It did not take High Spec to realize.
"Despite their recklessness they are not entirely incorrect," Hebiru exclaimed with narrowed eyes while biting her lip. Unbeknownst to herself her fists had clenched and her arms were trembling. "The results of the latter hypothesis could be catastrophic. A yet more worrying possibility is that whoever is responsible is somehow gathering said quirks inside the tower for some purpose. A seemingly impossible concept but so was the switching of quirks mere days ago."
Checking her phone she realized no one else had answered her aid request yet. Her foot tapped impatiently as she clicked her tongue. She could feel the tension in the crowd, for once being in tune with their emotions. Another push was coming up. Hebiru swore under her breath.
"Recall. Round five," The Gorgon sighed in exasperation. The sigh cut off halfway. She'd need her breath for what was going to happen next. If only she had long enough to get the crowd to keep their distance for just a while so she could focus...
As always the immediate issues required her attention and kept her from addressing that which needed to be fixed. Her teeth grit. Hebiru was very close to snapping on the next person that tried her.

The Gorgon WatchesIt had not taken long for the tower in Toshima to be identified as having some form of involvement in the mass sleep event and subsequent quirk changes. Deciding on what to do about it was taking far longer however and even now as some people were beginning to wake up and speak about fantastical dream worlds an official decision had yet to make it through the layers of bureaucracy. Hebiru had no intention of waiting for it. The ongoing disaster was a tragedy but it had brought something to Hebiru she hadn't felt this intensely for ages.
Hope.
For that matter, it had brought a lot of feelings she hadn't felt this intensely for ages. More than a quarter of a century to be precise. Her face twisted at the mere thought and tears prickled in her eyes. With her quirk gone her emotions were no longer suppressed. It was what she'd been working towards all this time. Joy, despair, anger, sadness, fear and elation in equal measure. The things that made people what they were. Unused to them as she was however Hebiru had yet to learn to control them. The overwhelming magnitude of the situation they had found themselves in certainly did not help either.
Millions of people across Tokyo were affected and as a pro hero Hebiru could not idly stand by. Any other time their plight would have taken full priority. Today emotion won out over logic and The Gorgon had deployed to Toshima, her goal clear. The tower.
There was no guarantee that this change would last. She had to collect as many findings about the tower while it was active as she could. Every piece of data gathered could assist her in permanently ridding her of the abhorrent quirk she'd been cursed with all her life. Her breath caught in her throat at the thought of it returning.
When she'd arrived Hebiru had found that she'd been far from the only one to head for the tower. Just like the others she hadn't reached it yet however, for the main road leading towards it was blocked off by a solitary figure. A masked swordsman holding an oversized odachi.
Solemnly the swordsman stood with his back to the masses, his sight locked on the tower all the while. Behind him a furrow was carved into the ground. Since she'd gotten here Hebiru had seen people try to step past that literal line in the sand three times. Each had gone just as badly as the last. When she saw the motley crew that had banded together for the next push she doubted four would be the magic number.
"Recall. Damage control," The Gorgon panted out while rushing away from her current patients to her future ones. Managing one's breathing during a straining activity was difficult at the best of time but for one unused to having lungs it was twice as hard. Thrice with her new quirk added into the mix.
As the first of the assailants stepped over the line sword left sheath and sliced towards him. Filling her lungs with as much air as she could Hebiru exhaled to form a shield out of Solid Air. Partway through a coughing fit overtook her rendering the barrier far smaller than she would have liked. Sword met flesh before catching on the edge of the shield, cutting a deep furrow into the civilian's side and a small crack into the Air before the strike was stopped. Without any further hesitation Hebiru pulled the man away and dragged him towards the improvised triage station that had been set up meters away. Her jaw clenched. Every fool she and Iphi had to pull to safety made it that much harder to make progress. Hebiru didn't know how much she had left in her before she'd snap.

The Doctor is In
"An interesting difference in methodologies," Hebiru responded to Kei. "Both have their merits. It would be interesting to see the results of a collaboration between you and Paragon."
No person, method or way could accomplish everything. It was both infuriating and tended to make the results of collaborative efforts so much greater than the sum of its parts. In a similar vein Hebiru was quite curious to see how Team C would approach the current situation.
"An intriguing design. Will this be your first time seeing Lodestar using them in action?" Hebiru asked before her attention was taken up by the light in the distance as well. As was that of the guards. It appeared that Team C had managed to get close enough to the center to begin whichever plan they were thinking of executing.
All six of the three-man guard groups, whether it be the two at the approaches angled towards the front of the warehouse, the two at the back or the group at each of the sides, snapped into full readiness at a whistled sign from the leader of the six-man squad guarding the hostages. In a startling display of coordination and professionalism each group had two members swivel their guns towards the direction the light came from while their third maintained coverage on their respective lane of approach.
The centermost group acted slightly differently. Four of them each aimed at a different direction while the final two kept an eye on the hostages just in case.
"Shall we find out what they are up to?" Hebiru asked Kei with her best impression of a conspiratorial smirk before pressing one of the buttons on her earpiece. "Mai, how is Team C's progress."
"S-senpa-" Mai stuttered, then remembered to turn the mic on and select Hebiru's private channel. "Team C is preparing for a strike from above combined with a distraction," she explained on her second try while keeping an eye on the cameras. "They shall be at your position shortly. Yuki Onna out."
Clicking away from the channel as well Hebiru turned back to Kei and whispered silently enough none of the guards would hear.
"Keep an eye on the area above the containers. We are about to see what they have planned," Hebiru explained while craning her neck. With a ceiling that was thirteen meters high Team C had quite a bit of room in-between the roof framing and the rows of eight foot shipping containers that were stacked three high. Now all that was left was to see how they used it.

The Doctor is InNoncommittal though it may have been Hebiru was pleased that Yoko hadn't refused her offer out of hand. It was a small step but each one in the right direction was a good one. Similarly she was glad Yoko didn't insist on following up on Shokuhou's misspoken words, regardless of how it made the latter's brow furrow.
Hebiru didn't have more time to think about her assistant's reaction, her focus taken up wholly by her sister's question. It wasn't phrased as a question of course but even the most dense would be able to see it was meant as one. One with just enough plausible deniability to make a flimsy argument against it, but a question nonetheless. Politely ignoring the way Shokuhou had turned away from them and was trying to hide her shaking shoulders at the age comment Hebiru gestured towards the table said assistant had been doing her homework at.
"Mind listening to this old-" she couldn't keep the hurt out of her voice entirely. It wasn't due to Yoko's words exactly, moreso the unintentional reminder that she was getting up there in years and still hadn't managed to fix herself. "-lady ramble for a bit? I won't take too much of your time."
Taking a seat and thanking Shokuhou for the coffee Hebiru stared at the ceiling for a moment, lost deep in thought. This wasn't about her experiences. Not really. That wasn't what Yoko was asking about. Holding the mug with both hands she let the warmth seep into her hands, trying to retain a small scrap of it to channel into her speech. Had she not been so in control of her expression a sardonic smile might have settled on her features but as it was there wasn't the slightest hint on her face as to what she was thinking. Energy sought the path of least resistance. With how hollow she was one would think warmth would find its way into her chest with ease, and yet...
"I think what was key to me was..." Hebiru began with an uncharacteristic softness, almost fragility, to her tone. "No. To say that a single thing was key would be disingenuous. Matters such as these are far too complex to be encompassed by a buzzword."
Looking away from the ceiling before her gaze bored holes in it Hebiru made eye contact with both Yoko and Shokuhou in turn before she continued. Both in their own way suffered from their quirk. It was a sentiment Hebiru was very familiar with.
"But if I had to name what was crucial to me it was be a balance between acceptance and refusal," Hebiru could tell that her words weren't making much sense. She could understand. It had taken her many years to come to this conclusion and even now she failed to truly believe it. "Acceptance of who I was and refusal to stay that way. It is impossible to recognize improvements without understanding where you came from and without observing improvements it is likewise impossible to know whether your course is the right one."
With every failure to cure herself of her quirk Hebiru had despaired until she'd looked back and seen just how much ground she'd covered in the process.
"But I digress," she interrupted herself while schooling her expression into an apologetic smile before she continued. "I suppose rambling truly does come with age," Hebiru added with a forced chuckle and an unpracticed wink aimed at Yoko. "The realization that did the most for me was that an outside perspective was needed. Usually I did this by writing my thoughts down and returning to them later with a fresh perspective but," she waited for a moment before continuing. "It doesn't have to be done alone."
Hebiru wondered whether it would be too cliche or inappropriate to reach out and encouragingly take hold of their hands. It was but a stray thought, influenced by reading far too many novels. She would never in actuality try to do such a thing.
"Perception is important. It influences reality more than one could possibly imagine. Above all what I kept in mind is that it is possible to change, both the way one acts, the way one is perceived and the way one perceives themselves," Hebiru added sagely. From her words it was clear that Yoko was having difficulties figuring out who she was and who she wanted to be. "Before you know it, the last one to figure out you've reached your goals already may just be yourself," she could tell that no matter what the girl thought Yoko was making excellent progress.
Unbeknownst to herself Hebiru's lips had curled into a genuine smile. Surely if her sister was managing to accomplish it, there might yet be hope for herself as well.

The Doctor is In"An excellent question, Surplus," Hebiru replied to Kei's inquiry. "Perhaps she wishes to see how her gear functions in action? On a similar note, if I might ask, which creation of yours is in Lodestar's possession?"
She was curious to see both the students and their equipment in person. It was different from simply reading reports and treating injuries after the fact. From what she could tell it wouldn't be much longer before they'd have front row seats to the action. Now that Team C had gathered all that was left was for them to reach and free the hostages.
How smoothly the path there would be remained to be seen. Two patrols were on a course that would take them within view of the team before long, the first's route taking them right to where the group was standing in less than half a minute and the second patrol being a little under a minute from spotting them.
Regardless of whether they were able to avoid the prying eyes of the villainous patrols and their menacing rubber bullets the greatest challenge would come once they drew closer to the center. The rows of containers throughout the warehouse were set up in a rectangular grid pattern with relatively clear lanes in each of the six 50 meter wide and 30 meters long 'blocks' the facility was divided into. Once Team C reached the central block the guards would undoubtedly spot them almost immediately. Provided they went with a standard approach, of course.
