"well, let's see," she begins, deep brown eyes alight with adrenaline. "what do you prefer, amusement park or aquarium?"[break][break] the police are getting closer, daiana can hear them shouting from around the alleyway corner. heart pounding, daiana glances at the entrance to the alleyway, then back at jojo, face a bit more urgent this time. "i have a second, way more important question," daiana begins, gearing up to ask the question she always asks when preparing people to run fullspeed at a wall of cement with her. "do you trust me?" "yeah, no prob! take a seat," she offers whilst gathering all of her things, from her wallet to her delivery bag, out of his way to clear a seat at the table.[break][break] in the meantime, daian finishes daubing away sweat at her browline and replaces her visor atop her head, though her face remains red with exertion. she tosses the napkin into a nearby trash can, but returns to looking back at kaito with a smal, apologetic smile. "sorry, y'know, about this," she gestures vaguely to her face, possibly referring to the thin layer of sweat and grime clinging to her face and short, rapid puffs of breath escaping her lips as she cools down. "been out on delivery and, damn, it's hot as hell out there!"[break][break] she laughs boisterously, punctuating the sound of a bell chime as the front door to the shop opens and a man dressed in rags enters the shop. little does she or any of the komorebi patrons know, but this man hids a knife in his waistband, and his hand lingers closer and closer to its handle as he approaches the till... "i bet your face tastes like sidewalk now!" but everything she comes up with sounds lame. the last one is particularly bad. that one makes her sound like she regularly eats faces and she doesn't really want that reputation while weaving through droves of parents and young children. but hey, maybe the children here will realize that cops are bumbling idiots and eventually grow up to be just like daiana![break][break] that's probably bad, actually. if the world was full of daiana's, everything would be chaos, probably. oh well, one can dream![break][break] problem is, the artist is way too busy coming up with oneliners that she forgets that she's skating and that to skate effectively, one must know exactly where they're going. seconds later, daiana crashes into something—or rather, someone. daiana makes a rather spectacular fall off of her skateboard, the board going one way and her body going the other, and she ends up crashing onto the cement in a similar fashion to the police. pain reverberates up her hands and wrists, both for the rather awkward way that she landed and the little strips of skin now loosely hanging off her palms, but nothing compares to the panic of potentially being caught. adrenaline drives her to rise to her feet, but concern drives her to look at the girl she ran into![break][break] wow, she's cute! not like daiana would say that. either way, daiana reaches one hand down to offer assistance in rising, not quite aware at how badly her palms are bleeding right now. "shit, shit! i'm so sorry!" she blunders, eyes wide. she chances another glance behind her to find that the police have risen to their feet and are now running after her again! "aww, goddamnit! let's go!!"[break][break] whether jojo wants to or not, daiana grabs her arm regardless in an attempt to drag jojo to her feet, and attempts to run off with her, accidentally dragging the girl into the mess whether she likes it or not! COLD, preferably![break][break] mrs. kanno nods, and turns away to begin to make a masterpiece. on it![break][break] thanks! is daiana's only response. with a wide grin, she goes to lean against the sidebar, where she takes a napkin and gently begins to daub her hairline to wick away sweat. her eyes, though, are keen, staring over the clientele in the modest cafe. the cafe's in a bad area of town, so she's always on lookout for any ne'er-do-wells. not like the cops do anything about it, afterall! "so, uhhh... why are you still here?[break][break] the kids are already feasting on the pizza like little demons. the guy hardly pays them any attention. whaddya mean?[break][break] daiana briefly gestures to the rest of the beach. there's monsters everywhere man.[break][break] the guy's eyes light up. oh, yeah. i planned to hang out on the beach with the kids for weeks, so here we are.[break][break] don't really care about the uhhh octopuses and stuff?[break][break] the guy thinks, then thinks, and then thinks, before responding. i don't like to get political, but i think they should go back to their own country.[break][break] oh. that sounds racist. also do octopuses even have countries? is that both racist and stupid? wow. some people really have it all. whatever! daiana's gonna leave him to his pizza. ooookay then. uh, bye!" and off she goes, stopped in her tracks only by a very large rock falling right in front of her! damn, that was close, she can still feel the wind rushing past her face. did it come from that weird ass octopus in the sea? looks like it. siiiiigh. she might as well help out while she's here. is someone screaming?[break][break] peering around, daiana finds that the screaming is coming from a hero that's gotten his leg irreparably crush beneath a boulder. yowch. best get him out from under there. comign around to his side of the boulder, daiana pushes up on the rock for a few seconds, and though it budges only slightly, it's just enough to let the guy crawl out from underneath and dislodge himself entirely. upon seeing him safe, daiana lets go of the boulder and checks him over with her eyes. why don't you crawl up the beach or something so you don't break anything else, k? Feel the heat, feel the heat as you bask in its light, as the puppets hang upon their wire. I've lost my way. Kneel down and pray. It all decays. It takes me down, down, down like the minister said. daiana linhares
[attr="class","eplot3-icon"] [attr="class","eplot3-stuff"] street smart skateboard chick 19 yrs old young vigilante, known as econoclasm [attr="class","eplot3-about"]
about the character
street artist turned punk who can't just sit around and let people walk all over her anymore. you'll see her all over tokyo in a day, bouncing from place to place and turning up in places when it seems impossible for her to have gotten there so quickly. when she isn't doing things the law would frown at, she's riding around town on her skateboard, doing delivery for local restaurants or generally shooting the shit with another group of likeminded misfits.[break][break]
when she's with her paints, there's nothing she can't do. she calls herself econoclasm and tags all of her art as such, and when locals talk about the political commentary present in her art without knowing the artist is present with them as they speak, she can't help but smile. though her art may be entirely separate from her personal life, and econoclasm might as well be an entirely different person, it all makes up a substantial part of who she is as a person.[break][break]
the only thing that threatens her idyllic life as she knows it is her mom, local factory owner and manufacturing baron, who's attached to the idea of gentrifying the very streets daiana calls home. daiana won't let her, though. she never would.
[attr="class","eplot3-bulk"] plothooks
if you want to dive in can't touch us! — daiana is leading a grassroots movement to prevent the gentrification of her neighborhood and other neighborhoods that might be at risk of having their culture erased entirely. maybe you're someone who needs her help, or you're someone whose been sent to quiet her down and quell her revolt. either way, prepare for some asspounding![break][break] im invisible — maybe you're involved in the street art community with daiana, or are just a big fan, and find out daiana's identity as econoclasm. now it's up to daiana to try to convince you to keep it a secret! or, even worse... you can blackmail her over it. afterall, daiana has some pretty big connections in the economical sector...[break][break] i've got you — given that daiana is a vigilante, she's not just all "tear down the corporations"! she's also pretty involved in general community outreach! you got a problem you need solving? daiana's on the case! need some defense or backup? daiana's here for you too! [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]PAINT PORTAL [attr="class","header2"]emitter — c+ rank whenever daiana makes a colored piece of art on a solid, thick surface (such as with paint or graffiti), she forms the entrance of a portal, and she forms the exit of the portal when she makes another colored piece of art on a solid, thick surface at least 5 feet away from the portal's entrance. daiana can decide when she's using her quirk and when she is not—that is to say, she is capable of making non-portal pieces of art right alongside portaled pieces of art, and can, on a whim, decide when she would like to create a portal just by putting her mind to it. when this occurs, daiana's eyes light up white and her hair starts glowing until she decides the artwork is completed. daiana can only maintain up to three portals at a time. when she makes another portal beyond that limit, the oldest portal becomes deactivated, and appears to become like any other piece of art, unable to be jumped through. additionally, if daiana would like to reuse a certain portal, all she has to do is briefly touch one part of the deactivated portal (either entrance or exit) to reactivate it, at which point she can use it again as she pleases. daiana's quirk, in this fashion, is extremely versatile. the size of the things that can fit through the portals depend entirely on how big daiana makes the associated art pieces, and the only surface limitation is that the portals have to be on material that is relatively thick and solid. additionally, daiana can decide when she's making a portal who is allowed to use it, be it restricted only to her or open to certain people or groups of people. those who aren't allowed access to her portals simply run into the surface the portal is on when attempting to go through it, which can allow for some silly circumstances. additionally, there is no distance limit between portals—if daiana makes one artpiece on one side of the city and then travels to the other and makes the other artpiece, she can rapidly travel back and forth between different parts of the city with no problem. DRAWBACKS:🪬 WASH OFF!! — just like any art medium, daiana's portals can be wiped away and rendered unusable permanently if rubbed away, chipped away, or washed away. additionally, if the surface the portals are on is destroyed or otherwise damaged in such a way to fracture the artwork, the portals are once more rendered unusable.
🪬 GIVE ME A SEC, BRO! — it takes time to create large or intricate artworks, so combat use may be limited if daiana doesn't have time to setup beforehand. given that daiana is a bit of a perfectionist, wimpy artworks are pretty much out of the question, so...
🪬 OHHH... DIZZY... — travelling through a portal proves to be a disorienting and odd experience, which increases exponentially depending on the distance between portals. though the traveling time is instantaneous to observers, individuals actually going through the portals spend more time inside their mini pocket dimension than is perceived, leading to lightheadedness, dizziness, and nausea. [attr="class","header2"]DON'T MAKE ME HIT YOU [attr="class","header2"]emitter — c rank daiana is trained in the art of brazilian jiu-jitsu, a martial arts style focused on bringing larger, stronger opponents into submission by bringing foes to the ground and dragging them into chokeholds or joint-locks. where this fighting style really shines is when daiana is outclassed in weight or size—which she often is! as such, it's perfect for her, even if she's not necessarily a master right now. daiana don't take no shit from anyone! she has a strong sense of justice and even stronger sense for bullshit, and she isn't afraid to tell it like she sees it. this mostly comes from her understanding of other people. daiana's empathy is a kaleidoscope of emotions, vibrant and ever-shifting. she possesses an uncanny ability to understand the nuances of others, effortlessly slipping into their shoes and experiencing their joys and sorrows as if they were her own. it is as if she has an innate sixth sense, an intangible connection with the world around her. this empathy fuels her resourcefulness, a wellspring of ingenuity that knows no bounds. daiana possesses an unwavering belief in the power of human potential and uses her creativity to harness it. she can take a tattered piece of cloth and transform it into a work of art, stitching together fragments of different cultures to create something entirely new. her hands work wonders with the simplest of tools, breathing life into discarded objects and turning them into cherished treasures. determination courses through daiana's veins, a fire that burns bright even in the face of adversity. she faces challenges head-on with unwavering resolve, never daunted by the odds and always willing to take on more than she can really chew in the neverending pursuit of her own goals. of course, while her strong sense of justice fuels her fiery nature, it often leads her down a treacherous path of hasty decisions and ill-advised actions. daiana's recklessness knows no bounds; she throws caution to the wind with a devil-may-care attitude that leaves others bewildered and vulnerable in her wake. her tendency towards dishonesty adds an air of mystery to her persona, as she keeps her innermost thoughts and desires locked away, revealing them only when it suits her agenda. daiana's enigmatic nature leaves those around her perpetually guessing, never knowing what lies beneath the surface. It is as if she wears a mask of inscrutability, shielding herself from prying eyes while maintaining an aura of untouchability. daiana's impulsivity is a force of nature, an integral part of her vibrant spirit that propels her forward in a whirlwind of action. it is impossible to predict her next move, for she follows the whims of her heart, guided by an insatiable curiosity and an unyielding desire to explore every corner of existence. her impulsive nature is both a blessing and a curse, as it leads her down paths unknown, exposing her to unimaginable wonders and unimaginable dangers. in the blink of an eye, daiana can go from seamlessly blending into a crowd to standing out like a flame in the darkness. She has an uncanny ability to spot the slightest inconsistency or injustice, and she reacts with lightning speed and ferocity. with a swift word or a fierce glare, she can dismantle the webs of deceit that surround her. her impulsive nature becomes a powerful weapon, forging a path through the chaos and leaving no room for doubt or hesitation. furthermore, daiana reveals herself to be an unyielding spirit that refuses to bow down. it is born from her unshakeable belief in the power of truth and justice, a deep-rooted conviction that guides her every action. she has seen firsthand the consequences of turning a blind eye, and she refuses to be complicit in the face of wrongdoing. with each passing day, daiana's stubbornness grows stronger, etching itself deeper into her being. It fuels her unwavering determination, like a flickering flame that dances defiantly against the wind. she is not one to back down from a challenge, no matter how insurmountable it may seem. if anything, the odds stacked against her only serve to ignite a fire within her soul, propelling her forward with an unstoppable force. she sees every seemingly impossible roadblock to be yet another stage to prove herself on, to dictate that she's not just some street trash looking to cause trouble—she has a cause, and she's willing to go to the ends of the earth for it, no matter what! [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]APPEARANCE [attr="class","header2"]time solves most things » HEIGHT: 5'3" » WEIGHT: 135 lbs » EYE COLOR: brown » HAIR COLOR: black, dyed blue at the ends » SKIN COLOR: dark » FACE CLAIM NAME: kimberly jackson » FACE CLAIM SERIES: street fighter standing at a compact 5'3", daiana is a force to be reckoned with, exuding strength from every sinew of her muscular frame. her sculpted arms and defined abs speak volumes of her dedication to maintaining her physical prowess. it is as if every muscle on her body has been meticulously carved, a testament to the countless hours spent honing her physique. considering she's a girl on the go more often than not, daiana's choice of threads frequently reflects a need for loose, breathable outfits. she favors breathable streetwear that allows her to move freely and effortlessly through the urban landscape. her wardrobe consists of an assortment of form-fitting leggings and joggers in various bold colors, showcasing her boldness and fearlessness. these bottoms are always paired with lightweight, moisture-wicking tank tops or crop tops, accentuating her well-toned physique. when out doing unscrupulous things, daiana only really cares to throw a windbreaker or hoodie over the top of everything and top it off with a black facemask, just enough to hide her incredibly noticeable mane of hair. speaking of hair, daiana's long, very curly black hair cascades down her back in a wild, untamed manner, much like the fire that burns within her. its midnight hue contrasts beautifully against her golden-brown skin, providing a striking visual. but it is the vibrant blue ends of her hair that draw the most attention, an unexpected burst of color that reflects her audacious spirit. daiana's hair, a physical representation of her distinctive personality, is frequently tied into intricate braids that are both practical and fashionable. however, it is daiana's deep brown eyes that truly capture the essence of her enigmatic nature. they are windows into a world of complexity and depth, shimmering with intensity and intelligence. her eyes hold secrets untold and emotions tightly guarded, as if they are gateways to her soul. her avo always told her that her eyes were the best part about her, and truthfully, they do stand out, being big and bright and unwavering. oftentimes, it's hard to look away! luckily for most other people, daiana tends to look away first, if only because she doesn't do eye contact very well! [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]HISTORY [attr="class","header2"]and what time can't solve girls just wanna have fun! that's daiana's life motto, basically. you only get one life, so you better make sure that in whatever you're doing, you're having fun while doing it. this sentiment started in daiana's early childhood and only grew from there. for starters, daiana actually was born in japan to two brazilian-japanese parents whose great-great-great grandparents moved to japan around the 1900s in search of reliable forms of work. the whole family settled down in a neighborhood of hamamatsu in the shizuoka prefecture where many foreigners lived and proceeded to get to work in the factories. daiana's grandparents worked so hard that they eventually came to own one of the factories they worked in, at which point they handed it off to their daughter, daiana's mom, who then went on to acquire many other factories in the area, to the point that the family quickly became incredibly wealthy. unfortunately, when daiana's dad lost an arm in a factory incident, daiana's parents decided to take off from japan and return to brazil, where the medical treatments he required were cheaper and, additionally, factory costs were also cheaper, leading to more profit. so, off daiana went to brazil with her mom and dad at around five years old. unfortunately, even though she was ethnically brazilian, she was considered too japanese by her schoolmates and peers, and so she was often left as an outcast in her social endeavors. where she and her parents lived, though, was populated by a large amount of people society often looked down upon: the poor, the infirm, the foreign. it wasn't long before daiana fell in with these sorts of kids, where they got into all kinds of trouble. where the more socially privileged brazilians looked down on daiana and her crew of misfits, calling them street trash and criminals, the group often proved to be more upright than the rich and comfortable. they gave where they could, they helped those like them, and they stuck together through thick and thin. while daiana was certainly more well-off than most of the kids, given that her mom and dad owned most of the factories in the area, she rode with them no matter what, and she helped them get what they needed, be it stealing for food or fending off violence. coming into her early teenage years, where angst and depression was the name of the game, daiana took to spraypaint and streetart to express herself, turning a dim, dismal favela but where daiana lived, the rest of rio de janeiro considered trash, dangerous. nobody saying this lived in her neighborhood, so they didn't know the people there, they didn't know that there was kindness and humanity and love in every street corner, and that even though it was crime-riddled and sometimes people were desperate, the people living there were still people with homes and loved ones and dreams and aspirations. and daiana was one of them. imagine her horror when her mom and dad invested in a program to begin gentrifying the exact neighborhood they lived in. the plan was to extend the wall separating the favelas from the "cleaner" part of rio de janeiro to completely encapsulate the neighborhood, then tear down all of the buildings and rebuild them anew. the people who lived there? yeah. mom didn't care about them. daiana was FURIOUS. but anytime she tried to express to her mom that doing such a thing was erasing an entire culture in favor of what? some pretty promenade? well, mom just told her to shut the hell up and be respectful. that daiana didn't know anything. that this was an adult manner. but daiana DID know something, and that's that what her mom was doing was wrong.daiana told her friends. all of them were fired up, ready to engage in some good old fashioned crime to convince the city that tearing down the favela was a bad idea, but daiana, once careful, convinced them to protest peacefully, knowing that causing riots would risk their lives. so they picketed, lobbied, and boycotted. to no avail, of course. months later, daiana watched as her friends were escorted out of their childhood homes, and then she watched as the buildings she had painted on months earlier were destroyed too. everything she had loved about the favela was gone, just to be replaced by brutalist architecture and picket fences. for months afterwards, daiana's behavior got worse. she got into more trouble, caused more problems than she probably should have. in her head lingered one question—if she had just stood up in a way that was less passive, would anything have changed? weekend after weekend, daiana got booked into jail for graffiti on her mom's sparkly new buildings and busted out days later, mom hoping that daiana had finally learned her lesson, but she never did. eventually, it dawned on daiana's parents that maybe her environment had something to do with her acting out, and so... they sent her back to japan to live with her aunt. the social situation there was the same. she was an outcast—too brazilian for the japanese. but her neighborhood was filled with outcasts—foreigners, just like her, stuck in two worlds with nowhere else to go but the in-between. the neighborhood was poor, yes, but it was familiar. people had the drive to get better, the strong working class spirit. they were people she could relate with, and, to be honest, daiana liked her aunt way more than she liked her mom. well, imagine daiana's surprise when, five whole years later, her mom arrives in hamamatsu, smiling and with gifts in hand, looking down at a daughter that grew up without her. turns out, mom's moving back to japan while dad holds down the fort in rio de janeiro, and mom's got a big surprise. she's starting a new urban improvement initiative in hamamatsu! in the very same neighborhood daiana settled into for five whole years. god. fucking. damnit. moms always have to ruin a good thing, don't they? well, who cares. this time, daiana's not gonna sit back and let it happen. this time, she's gonna get her hands dirty so the people she loves can keep their hands clean. no matter what it takes, she's going to keep her community safe. [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]ITEMS [attr="class","header2"]you have to solve yourself skateboard: daiana's precious skateboard! it's real old and beatup, but daiana doesn't know how to drive and doesn't care for biking, so this is her primary means of transportation, especially when she's delivering food! cellphone: pretty clean and functional. the glass is broken, though... oops! canvas bag: this is what she carries all her paints in when she goes on the town!
