If he was going to defeat BG then he needed to be really quick and smart about it. Since BG was stunned from his last ability, now was the time to put in some hits of his own. He moved in low and started punching BG in the gut rapidly. After 8 rapid punches, the thunderer leapt upward and drove his fist into his target’s face, sending them back a few.[break][break] Alright, I’m making progress but it isn’t enough. Maybe if I had environmental help it would give me just what I need. With a smirk on his face, he turned from BG. ”I’m out of here!” Since they were close to the border of the ruin zone and other zones, he figured all he needed was to get somewhere that gave him what he wouldn’t have in the wasteland.[break][break] Big Guy gave chase to the 1st year. After what seemed like running forever, he caught up to ThunderCell who seemed to be catching his breath. “Time to put you down.” He started walking towards the young man menacingly.[break][break] ThunderCell breathed heavily as he eyed Big Guy. ”Do your worst.” He waited for BG to attack and so BG did. He evaded a heavy punch which ended up busting a pipe. Water sprayed out which made the thunderer smile. He shifted away from the water and generated electricity before discharging bolts of electricity at the water. The electricity plus the water affected BG greatly. He fell backwards, defeated and his body steaming in the areas he was shocked but he was still very much alive.[break][break] Now that he was done, TC needed to get back to the task at hand, finding hostages and freeing them. He hoped that Red was having an easier time.

Did they get to the moment where they could stop worrying about toys? So it would seem. They were all moving to the exit and though Kaito wasn’t able to quickly react, his team was there to make sure he safely made it to the exit. They did it! ”Thanks for the big assist, Kenta. You guys are great.” [break][break] The exit was the void room they were in before this started. For Kaito, he was quite glad to see this space of nothing. He was kind of glad that he didn’t have many toys growing up because now those things were regarded as creepy. Not too bad that he would need counseling though. As the medical professionals did their checks, he relaxed. [break][break] That was until he heard the slow clapping. The voice and man that accompanied the clapping congratulated the students which put a small smile on the young man’s face. He wasn’t too keen on the little monkey though but it was what it was. Aside from all the malfunctioning drones, were they doing bad? Kaito didn’t think so. Jun managed to throw a snake at the cymbal-toy monkey which latched onto the thing. It made the strange toy focus on the snake and not them which was a good start. In doing so, both of them fell off the weird worm looking thing. [break][break] As the worm rammed itself into the tub, Kaito chucked the grenade given to him by Jun which stunned the toy. That gave them the opportunity to go through the tunnel. [break][break] Jun praised him on his shot which brought a smile out of Kaito. ”Thanks.” He didn’t think he would get any praise from anyone let alone an upperclassman. He was just a poor kid from the projects who wanted to make a difference in the world. He hasn't done anything spectacular at the school yet. He focused on the task at hand since he’d have time to celebrate later. [break][break] He was given two more flashbangs from Jun with the instructions to use them at a certain point. He nodded as he listened to her. The moment she told him and Farrin to run, he took off. The moment he saw green, he primed the flashbangs and threw them at the worm. He could only hope for the best and that they didn’t backfire on him.

What luck. Just like the drone used by the other student, this one decided to do its own thing. He watched as the drone used its alarm but instead of flying where it was supposed to be flying, it turned and started circling around him. ”Damn, do none of these drones work? Anyone starting to miss using their quirk?”[break[break] Seeing that no matter where Kaito went, the drone followed, he deactivated both of the equipped tools. As they moved further, there was that blasted monkey and it was riding some giant purple toy thing. He was already tired of this motif and never wanted to see a toy again. He was even slightly thankful that he didn’t have many toys growing up too.[break][break] Jun tossed him a flashbang to use on the worm which Kaito nodded. ”You got it.” He smirked and armed the flashbang, throwing it to the worm. He hoped that this time things went as planned because he wanted to get out of there and feel the electricity coursing through his veins. To think that quirks are like nature and no one thinks much of them until they can’t access them any longer. Boy, he fell into that same category.[break][break] Farrin called out to Kaito and told him about the tunnel. Changing his trajectory, he moved towards the tunnel and entered it, hoping for a moment to catch his breath.

Being an older student, the big guy was stronger and more battle ready than Kaito. The young thunderer had his work cut out for him. Right now, he was flat on the floor. He had taken a punch that sent him flying into concrete which he fell to the floor. Jeez, he’s strong. I haven’t been up against someone like this… ever. I hope Red was able to get away and get the woman to safety. He pushed himself up and wiped blood that had found its way below his lip.[break][break] ”I ain’t out of the game yet.” TC stated as he got into a fighting stance. The big guy smirked. “Like your spunk, don’t go getting into fights you can’t win though cause we villains ain’t gonna be merciful.” BG rushed at TC and sent a quick jab towards his face. TC barely evaded the attack but in doing so it gave him the opportunity to counterattack.[break][break] With the chance of countering the attack, ThunderCell brought electricity to his fists and drove his left into BG’s rib cage before sending the right towards the face. It was not as effective as he hoped it would have been. Big Guy blocked the attack to the face and grabbed his arm. Kaito was flung into a structure of concrete where he would lay flat. This was harder than he thought. He needed to gather his strength and try to outsmart his opponent. A straight up brawl wasn’t going anywhere. He coughed a bit and winced in pain.[break][break] The big guy smirked and crossed his arms. “What’s the matter little here, ran out of juice? Think because you’re laying there looking helpless that I’ll hold back? Out there, villains will be relentless and won’t care about how beat up you get.” He marched over to where Kaito was lying and grabbed the boy by his hair, pulling him up before going to punch him.[break][break] Being pulled by his hair was rather painful. He winced but he knew that wouldn’t stop the pain. Before BG could punch him, he discharged electricity quickly, zapping BG’s right eye which stunned him. He supercharged his fists and punched BG’s arm which made the older student let go of his hair. Now free, he jumped back to regain his composure.

When the toy planes flew towards him, he swung and managed to get 2 out of the 3 of them directly. The 3rd one ended up having its wing clipped. The bat played music and the surviving plane danced to its demise. ”Not gonna lie, that was pretty sick.” Just as he was about to do a small victory dance, the plane caught a blaze. That may or may not be good. If it helps us though, I ain’t gonna complain.[break][break] As the flames engulfed the other toys, Kaito focused on the possible exit that was mentioned. As he began moving, he heard his chosen hero name being called. I guess we are using hero names… wait, he didn’t share his hero name… oh yeah! It was on the sign up sheet for the event. He was surprised that someone remembered it. Well, maybe the guy that called it had a really good memory. Or maybe he just didn’t spend enough time looking at their hero names. Luckily Farrin’s weird accent didn’t throw off Kaito at all and he understood what was being asked of him.[break][break] ”You got it! As he was about to use the bat again, it transformed back to the scythe. He gathered it had a small usage time before reverting. As he went to use the scepter to see if it would remain in that state or transform again, transform it did. It turned into… a cowbell? Really? Coming off of the musical bat, he had a cowbell… What am I? Some indie musical or something? What am I supposed to do with this? Hmmm, maybe if I play it something will happen. To add to it, that other student has a TUBA? Damn, they are really going with this instrument motif.[break][break] Kaito started playing the cowbell and to him nothing happened. Little did he know that the cowbell was a supplementary tool used to enhance the use of the other tools in his arsenal. It would allow him to use one of the other gadgets without drawbacks. Good thing he figured that using a different gadget would be more useful than trying to figure out what playing the cowbell did. He opened his menu and selected his next gadget.[break][break] The next gadget was the Northern Whale Path drone. It had to be better than the malfunctioning drone that was blazing down attacks indiscriminately. He shot the drone towards the starting area which was the opposite direction from where they were going. He hoped that the toys would follow the whale and that would also put them all in a line for Farrin’s Tuba attack as well. Now it was time to get moving to the exit.

That said, the car door didn’t hold up very well throughout and she was sent flying right past Kaito. Jun wasn’t the only one trying to ward off the toy and the effort of them all made them survive, wave I.[break][break] As it would seem, Wave II was right around the corner and they had no time to prepare for it. The sounds of flying toy planes caught Kaito’s ears. The young man looked up and saw the fleet above them, up in the ceiling. With the fleet diving on the students and firing at them, Kaito raised his hands to shoot an electric beam… well, that was what he hoped to do. He had forgotten that he didn’t have access to his quirk. Well, not that he really forgot but it was more so muscle memory.[break][break] ”Damn it!” He exclaimed as he ducked to avoid one of the aircrafts headed towards him. Electricity vs Super-Strength, which would come out on top. ”Hope you brought the A game cause I’m going to make you fall like Goliath did.” Yeah, he needed to sit down and work on his one liners, they were pretty bad.[break][break] The older student acting as a villain for the exercise chuckled before lunging at TC. He was much faster than he looked and that caused the young thunderer off guard. Unable to dodge in time, all the 1st year could do was bring his hand up to brace for the attack. He moved in to follow up, generating the charge to his fists. As Big Guy dodged the electric ball and prepared for a physical strike, ThunderCell pushed both fists forward and discharged the electrical charge. The shock hit BG but it was far from over.

While Red was trying to muffle her giggles, TC - ThunderCell - was trying to see if he would be able to see anything of value and he certainly did. There was a woman running by and one of the villains chasing her. While keeping his eyes on them, he heard Red’s quiet question.[break][break] Before he could answer, she started making suggestions. She had some solid ones too. Even so, they were more to see what he would be able to use with them than her being confident in her ability to brainstorm a big play. ”We need to separate them. I can take on the big guy to give you time to take the woman to safety. Once she’s safe, we can regroup and if I am still taking on big guy you can help me with your lucky powers.” He thought about it, a distraction would be good but simply having the element of surprise could be better. ”We need to be quiet on the approach and then once we are in the zone, we can work well. If you manage to get the woman to safety, then you can come back and use that Yo-Yo of yours. Let’s move before we lose the trail.”[break][break] TC moved out of cover stealthily and started following the direction the fake villains went. It wouldn’t be long before they were close enough to engage. Channeling some electricity to his fist, he moved in to attack. TC managed to get close enough to land a punch on the big guy, decking him in the face. This caused the man to go flying into one of the buildings. ”Red, save the woman.”

Welp, now he knew just how she thought. She was all about the action and there wasn’t anything remotely wrong with that. There was going to be a time where that would be very important.[break][break] As they approached the urban area that had ruins all around them, Kaito looked around for a perfect place that would shield them from the eyes of enemies. When Red asked if they needed a wall and a window, he nodded. ”Yeah, something that would allow us to peek out without being seen.”[break][break] While looking at the various buildings around them, Red pointed out a place that had the perfect cover for them. ”That’s perfect! Let’s go.” He quickly hopped down from their elevated floor and moved stealthily to the building that Red had pointed out. It had partially fallen apart but that didn’t matter. What was most important was still there.[break]
As the hero duo got situated in the broken hero, the pretend villains were on the move nearby. Visually, they were trying to sell that the big guy was chasing the helpless girl. If anyone came out to play then they would be able to trick them well enough to take down some naive heroes. That was the best play in the book. They ended up passing close enough to Red Girl’s and ThunderCell’s position allowing the two heroes in training to see them.

Kaito had registered for it. He wanted to experience all the cool stuff with being a student at U.A.U and this was one of them. He also believed that there were rewards given if someone did well in it and that was enough reason for him to jump at the opportunity.[break][break] On the day of the event, he jumped out of bed early and made sure he had a solid breakfast. That was something he loved about U.A.U. He was able to have solid breakfasts and have enough things that he didn’t have to go hungry. His childhood would have loved to have breakfast everyday even though that wasn’t his reality. Now that he could, he did and he wouldn’t take the ability to have that for granted.[break][break] Once he had gone to the area he was supposed to go, he was given a device that supposedly had gear on it for him to use. He was excited to try that out when the time was right. Maybe, he would get some ideas to help with his own personal gear for the future.[break][break] Once he was led to the void room, he looked around at the other students with him. He hadn’t formally met any of them. He knew them from seeing them around campus. He could only hope that they would all be able to work well together. Well, time would certainly tell.[break][break] Aside from the others there, there was a clock on the floor ticking down the seconds before their particular event would begin. He took a deep breath and tried to get psyched up and focused for this. He watched the clock tick down until it hit zero.[break][break] The scene changed and they were now in an aisle in what looked to be a massive toy store. He never really got the chance to explore a toy store before so the scenery of being in one was mesmerizing. That wasn’t to say that he didn’t have toys growing up but he just never got to explore a store full of them. As he looked around in awe, his attention was grabbed by claps and the toy that was making such. It was a wind-up cymbal monkey. Who wound it up for it to be keeping noise?[break][break] The monkey raised its arm on its own and started clapping and the mouth started moving as it glowed. This thing was officially really creepy. It started hooting and energy began forming above its instruments which it used to create a hole in the ground. That thing was powerful.[break][break] Right when Kaito was about to take off, he heard a voice speaking to them briefing them on what they needed to do. Junsuina, who had a car door equipped, told the others to run while she took up the rear. Kaito had no arguments with that and started taking off. As they all were running, Kaito wondered what gear he had so he opened the menu. He had a Swirly Whirly Scepter, a Geyser Shot and a Northern Whale Path. Just how could he utilize them here? Well, he just had to wait for a better opportune time.

He asked if she would mind him having a seat there. With her giving him a smile, she waved and allowed him to sit with her. She cleared her stuff to give him the seat he desired to be seated in which he took. ”Thank you.” He sat down and gave her a friendly smile. He wasn’t expecting that in walking in a cafe like this one, he would have to sit with someone else. Luckily, he didn’t mind that at all. He was pretty friendly. Also, as a plus, she was seemingly around his age.[break][break] As she daubed the sweat off of her face, she apologized and spoke about her being on delivery and how hot it was. ”That’s quite fine. It is pretty hot out there too.” He smiled as she laughed boisterously.[break][break] Around the same time, the door opened and there was someone coming in. Kaito’s eyes moved to him and noticed the rags he was wearing. For a moment, he felt bad for the guy. He knew what it was like to be poor and not being able to afford new clothes or good things. Even on special days like his birthday. Even though he dreamed about having that life of having enough money to get good things and survive, that wasn’t the reality. With only his mother around and her not being paid enough to cover their lives, life was as hard as it got.[break][break] Now here came a man dressed in such a way that Kaito’s heart went out to him. He even wanted to offer to pay for the man’s drink or snack but he had no additional money other than what was for groceries. It sucked that he couldn’t help the guy out in that way.[break][break] As the guy made his way to the baristas, he let his voice be heard to only her. What he told her made the barista’s eyes shoot open slightly. He showed her the handle of the blade and she nodded and carried on like she was taking a normal order.[break][break] For now, Kaito returned his attention to the girl that was opposite him. ”I’m Kaito, by the way. Who are you and what kind of deliveries do you do?” He asked. After her answer, he looked back over to the barista who was now handing a bag filled with cash over in a paper bag that pastries came in. It wasn’t even remotely obvious. After the man left the building, she let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding while shivering. It was clear that the guy had spooked her somehow. ”I think that’s worth checking out.”

Kaito figured that their best bet would be where the villains were since they would be able to possibly find hostages there. As he brought this to Red, she jumped on board with the plan. A team that had a singular solid plan was sure to have more success than a team who couldn’t agree on the path of their actions.[break][break] Now that they had decided what they were going to do, it was time to begin their search. Luckily for them, that wouldn’t take long as a loud cry could be heard. Red even pointed it out in the event that the thunderer didn’t hear, even though he very much did. Without any sort of time passing, Red took off in the direction of the cry and man was she quick in doing so. ThunderCell started running after her, trying to catch up before she jumped into the danger and did something stupid.[break][break] Where the cry came from was a big muscular guy who tossed the source of the cry into the group of other hostages. She was now silenced with a cloth gag. The guy moved a little ways away from where the hostages were being kept, leaving a few of his partners there to keep watch. His bright idea was if they were to be discovered by any hero wannabes then his best bet would be to have them chase him and lead them away from where the hostages were being held.[break][break] Though, he wasn’t going to be alone. One of his partners was going to tag along. She looked like a no nonsense kind of person. Her glare would put the fear of death into many. Without wasting any additional time, they got into a more visible area and in a different direction, They did have a plan though. The girl softened her expression and started running away with him giving chase to give the illusion that she needed to be rescued too.[break][break] Meanwhile, ThunderCell kept up with Red. ”We should be getting close to the area where that scream came from. I think we should find cover and keep the element of surprise. Don’t want to give the enemy a big target.”

He too had such an expression when his mom told him that the quirk he was given was very similar to his late father’s quirk. That inspired him more to follow in his dad’s footsteps, at least the being a hero part since no one wanted to die.[break][break] When he extended the question to her on her quirk, she told him that she summoned ladybugs that brought her good luck. That was… interesting. Did it really bring her good luck? Did it take the good luck away from others? He needed more than that but maybe that was as much as she understood about it. ”That sounds like a really great power if I ever heard one. Well, let’s put that good luck to the grinder and do great today!” and now there was a grin on his face.[break][break] She also approved of him calling her Red. This was great. Red was shorter to call than Red Girl and it fitted well. Nicknames also familiarized people better and that may boost their morale and rapport. He was glad that she didn’t mind the nickname as well since it showed that she was friendly, at least that was his interpretation of things.[break][break] As they moved towards the USJ together, she expressed her declaration of them being an awesome tag team which Kaito also felt was going to happen. He nodded and flashed an excited grin before she went on to speak on her yo-yo and the things she could do with it. It was crazy that she had access to three elements with the thing. Now he felt really underprepared. No hero suit, no cool gadget, just him in normal clothes. Well, that meant that he had to be enough and he was going to show just that, He had everything he needed inside. [break][break] ”That’s a really neat gadget of yours! I’m sure it’s going to be very useful in the trials ahead. Now let’s show these upperclassmen what we freshmen can do!” With a confident look on his face, Kaito entered the USJ ready to see what challenges lay ahead. [break][break] As they entered the USJ, the full view of all the zones came into view. Kaito started looking around the area to get an idea where the villains would be. Sure, this was a Search and Rescue mission but it was also an active villain scene. If they wanted to find and save the civies then their best bet would be to find and take out the villains, wouldn't it? At least, that was what he believed. ”Let me know if you see any villains. I think that would be the best place to start in finding the civilians and saving them.”
