"Nah, this place was easy to find." Ah. She was aware. Which, fair, the flood in particular would've been impossible to hide. That's what he assumed she meant at least- he didn't know that she didn't know his involvement. Kei's smile grew strained. "You could say that. But it's okay! My being here now is unrelated to all the things that have happened here before." Because it was ridiculous to think he'd have a fourth incident in Tokyo Bay.

Right?

In any case, what he was here for was brought out in full display; an automaton already partially built. He nodded at her choice of material as he looked through the data on the screen. It was optimal for a body that was supposed to mimic human movement.

A small grimace was on his face when the crises were mentioned, but he nodded all the same. "I understand. Honestly, I'm thankful we were able to wake up next to medics." He'd heard stories of people getting taken while they were asleep. He couldn't imagine what it would've been like to be stuck in a nightmare, only to wake up in another one once you got out.

Kei took a breath. He understood the need to have something close by that could protect you when you couldn't protect yourself.

He listened through her explanation and scrolled through the information himself once he was allowed, smiling as he took in the thought process. "It's cool that you could give it a copy of your brain. Does that mean it'll have your Quirk in a way?" The question seemed unnecessary since computers were capable of processing near-infinite calculations anyway, meaning this robot was too, but he was curious. He'd often worked on integrating Quirks into gear but this would be the first time he's worked with a Quirk that was fully mental.

Kei stepped back from the screen as he received the pat on the shoulder, thinking. His biggest worry was trying to fit this project among all the other ones he had for his courses but that was assuaged with the full credit and exemption. A week of nonstop work also didn't bother him; he had his bouts of hyperfocus when something interested him enough, and the prospect of building a fully functional robot was definitely interesting.

In the end it was a no brainer. He turned to the instructor with a smile. "I'll do it! I have a question though." Hilariously, he was only bringing this up because she mentioned minimum sleep. "Did you take food into account with your calculations on how much time this would take?"

Opening his eyes was a mistake.

That was the first thought Kei had upon waking to lights shining directly into his eyes. Ugh. Bright. He closed them again and brought his hands up to cover them for good measure. They hurt less now, but slowly but surely his mind was waking as well. And as an over-thinker, that wasn't a good thing.

Where was he? He didn't remember falling asleep. He didn't even remember lying down - on what, a bed? It felt like a bed at least. That was good, a bad back was something he didn't want to have to worry about.

It should be good, but why was he in bed in the first place? He tried to think back, which was... surprisingly hard. It took a longer time than he'd like to admit to recall what he was doing.

He was in class. A very vibrant instructor was teaching it- the lights reminded him of her now. Other students were there but for some reason he couldn't think of their names or faces. Which was fine. Maybe. Hopefully. But it was a class. They were learning something. And now he was here. Did he take a break or? Wait, did he oversleep?

Oh god, the session was going on without him, he needed to get back.

Kei jumped out of his bed and oh god second mistake in his regained consciousness - his head was spinning. Chest tight, lights came back as he opened his eyes again. All these things amounted to him falling to the floor with a yelp.

Kei was lying on the floor. While better than his earlier predicament of spinning around with no way to tell which way was up, it still wasn't the best position to be in. The longer he stayed here, the more time he would give Michael to recover from his hit and make his way back. The support major knew this. He had to get up. He took a breath.

This turned out to be a mistake as doing so meant water went up his nose. He pushed himself up, coughing out the water as best as he could. Then with bleary eyes he searched for his opponent. He wanted to stop so bad but as long as the match was still going he had to stay up as long as possible.

When Kei did spot Michael, it took a while for him to register his words. "Who won?" He blinked. Looked at the line that crossed between himself and the balloon student. Glanced at Masao, who was on the same side as Michael. His eyes then scanned the area around him to confirm that, indeed, he stayed within the boundaries while the other team was knocked out of it.

A huff escaped him, disbelieving when it dawned on him. "I won? I won!" Kei's hands balled into fists then as he raised them in the air. "I WON!!!" The crowd cheered at the same time he did. It was finally over. He was done. He could scream or cry. It was possible he was doing both- it was just hard to tell since he was soaked from all the water.

But right- it was a team match. Kei turned to where his partner would've been. "Ylva, we did it! We won! We..." he trailed off, face shifting to confusion as he spotted the white-haired student walk away. "Ylva?" She really wanted to win, so why was she leaving? He lowered his arms. Did he do something wrong after all?

The others stayed at least. With a shake of his head, he took a deep breath as he addressed Michael. "I'm okay! Just knocked the wind out of me is all." Kei rubbed the centre of his chest. His body was sore all over but he felt that was the spot that needed his attention first. "Good-" a wheeze escaped him. "Good match! It was great seein' you guys give your all!"

Kei could feel the coolness in his hands. The subtle weight that pushed down on his palms before it fell off them. A tingling on his skin as his Quirk was put to work. All this signified the fact he was indeed making fog out of nothing. Well, out of water particles really, but it may as well be nothing when they weren't visible to the naked eye.

But that wasn't enough if Gen's words of how he's getting the hang of it was anything to go by. He could imagine the words now. Something about how the slow build up wasn't a move worthy of its "Super" title. More of the stuff needed to be produced, and faster. Maybe even to the same level as his normal rate.

As the sophomore spoke more, Kei opened his eyes again. "Could you please stop- what are you doin'." He was so surprised by the sudden closeness that he delivered his words as a statement instead of a question. Because who was this guy and what did he do to Gen?

None of the belittling was present, and in its place was... encouragement? A confirmation of his knowledge? Did he just say he was doing decent? Why did that buddy sound genuine this time?

Kei was so stunned that he didn't notice that he was still producing the fog. It kept its pace, slowly spreading outward from his feet. But when he looked at his hands it didn't stop. His focus was shaken but the production remained.

How could he perfect it though? Gen was off the mark, assuming that more than his hands were involved in the sensory aspect. The less he knew of his Quirk the better, but it still meant that advice was meaningless. On the other hand, he was right in that he was technically touching the water particles already. That's why the fog was only manifesting from his palms. But what else could he do? His thoughts went to his brother, so confident in his Quirk that he'd shout the words out lou-

Oh. That could work.

Kei breathed deep. Then, with a thrust of his hands downwards, he yelled. "FOG!" Fumes were practically forcing themselves out of his palms, as if the word itself triggered the move's full potential. It spread around them at a pace much faster than before, and in short order-

The fog surrounded them.
