Farrin may be wondering why the halls of the support labs were barren, but once he opened the right door, the reason was obvious enough. The room on the other side was pink. No, really, it was pink. The majority of the workshop was covered in a substance that was basically bubblegum, and if the hero student opened the door wide enough, the bottom of it would stick to the floor. There would be no hope of closing it again without damaging it then. The only sign that the room was not meant to be pink was a path leading from the doorway to the centre of the room that was devoid of the colour. It held the familiar neutrals instead, and the floor would not have the sticky sensation when stepped on. As proven by the one person who braved the room before the Irishman. Kei. Kei was at the end of the cleaned path, sitting on the floor with journal in hand as a few drones overhead continued the meticulous process of ridding the room of its bright hue. One would wonder why the sophomore remained and the reason was simple: someone had to explain what the heck happened here if an educator came upon it before the cleaning was done. And he was the only one here now because the perpetrator and basically everyone else left. So. He looked up when he heard the door open, hopeful for someone familiar that could help him speed up the process. When it was someone he didn't recognize though his eyes dimmed. New year, new roommate. Well, in this case, an actual roommate. It wasn't that Kei had the dorm room to himself at one point or anything. He wasn't special enough for that. Instead, it just so happened that during his first year in UAU he barely saw his roommate at all. The guy was nocturnal apparently, his schedule the complete opposite of the support student. This resulted in them never being the room at the same time, and therefore they rarely interacted. Which was fine. Everyone had their own mannerisms and habits and all that. Thing was, that guy was very different from the roommate he had now. Zenkai's presence alone took some getting used to- he was an absolute behemoth despite his mellow nature. That didn't even factor in his pet bear which Kei was still trying to figure out how she was allowed on university grounds. Oh right- companion, not pet. Beary-chan chose to stay; she could've left at anytime if she wanted to. Beyond the introductions and the being overwhelmed however, their conversation somehow shifted to furniture they'd want in their room, and just like that they were headed to Ikea. Already he was spending more time with Zenkai today than with his old roommate the entire year and honestly? It was nice. Kei, tucked safely inside a maroon hoodie and jeans while he still can avoid the uniform for a little longer, was scrolling through his phone when the freshman spoke to him. Because of course he had a list. "Rugs, lamps, storage for sure- and I'm gonna need a cork board. Do you have pictures? Another day, another piece of gear finished. This was the norm for Kei. With his demeanour and work ethic being as it was, people have been coming to him asking that he create something for them. It's reached a point where he's always working on a request someone made. Honestly he wouldn't be surprised if the amount of work he had was on par with his actual class projects. In either case, Jun was the lucky candidate for today. He was fetching her gear from the cabinets on the far wall when she came in, his focus remaining on the item as he addressed her. "Hey Jun! Yeah you came just in time, I was just about to bring 'em out!"And that's exactly what he did. Kei pulled what could only be miniature anchors from the cabinet, which were attached to a length of cable wrapped in some winches. Carrying one in each hand, he walked back to the table where he would've heard her voice from. "We just need to do some testin' to make sure they're easy for you to use. We got a trainin' area we could go to-" he paused when he saw her state. Hair a mess. Still wearing pajamas. Bags under her eyes. She didn't look good at all. Jesus Christ.That was the thought Kei had when he heard the speech from the professor a second time, just as direct and terrifying as the first when he was a freshman. Only after the initial shock of oh god I'm so gonna fail did he realize that the man was simply speaking the truth; they were some of the brightest minds in Japan at least if they got accepted into UAU. The least anyone wanted was to waste such an opportunity. And well, honestly, his speech certainly wasn't worse than Ana's. That one deserved a step above his initial thought: yikes. He couldn't even blame the other sophomore standing off to the side for not following that performance. So sure, even though he wasn't much of a public speaker he could give it a go. When the bright-eyed student stepped off the stand, he took it on, clad in his own uniform as he adjusted the microphone so it accommodated his shorter stature. Which let out a whine in protest. Only when Kei knows there's no danger to his wellbeing does he truly calm down. Around peers he's more open and opinionated, less afraid of speaking up should he see something that needs to be tackled. He becomes a worrywart not for his own safety but the safety of others, even extending himself as someone they could rely on should they need it. His hair is unruly, bangs held back by the headband he wears so they don’t block his eyes. A toothpick can always be found held in his teeth when he’s not eating or sleeping, having made a habit of chewing them to prevent himself from biting his lip. Faint scars can be seen on his bottom lip from when the nervous tick used to be a bigger issue. Clothes-wise, he dresses more for comfort than style. Outside the uniform he has several hoodies he wears out, and jumpsuits when he holes himself up in the workshop for hours on end. Even in uniform Kei keeps his tie loose, he’s not a fan of constrictive clothing. Cuts and scrapes are no stranger to the boy either, he sports bandaids on his person more often than not.  [attr="class","section"] [attr="class","section-title"]HISTORY Kei wanted to be a hero once. In a world as dangerous as it was, wanting to help in some way just seemed like a natural reaction to him. His older brother was the same, and in fact held values befitting of a hero: kindness, bravery, perseverance. He had a cool quirk that could propel him to the top and be an inspiration to all. Kei wished to be as amazing as he was. He doubled down on his studies in middle and high school. Despite his weak quirk and small stature and tinkering nature, despite all the people who didn't believe him, what mattered most was having the knowledge and intuition that would get him in the hero department in university. At the end of the day, it was the instructors who had the final say on whether he was good enough. Kei's priorities changed when his class was attacked during a field trip. They were trapped; surrounded by monsters crafted by the villain holding them hostage. One closed in on them and Kei, in fear and desperation, placed his hands on the enemy and pushed his quirk as hard as he could. After the event, he realized he didn't want to become a hero after all. But he still wanted to help somehow. So his focus shifted to gear instead, fine-tuning his craftsmanship into something he could take pride in with extracurriculars and online courses. He learned fast; built things that he still uses to this day. His work was recognized by real heroes. Kei didn't want to be a hero anymore, and that's okay. He was able to enrol in Japan's most prestigious university anyway. Kei’s quirk allows him to regenerate liquids and fine grains using his hands. This ability, while simple, has many applications: refilling a glass of water, topping up a fuel tank, unlimited milk, you get the gist. His quirk works fastest with direct contact with the substance, and weakens the farther his hands are from the source. With concentration, Kei can even use his quirk on a source from a distance so long as he's touching something that makes contact with it. This began with holding a glass to refill the drink inside, but his power has grown to the point where he can use nearby puddles to flood an area by touching the ground beneath his feet. As a side-effect, he can sense the components a substance is made of once he makes a closed connection with it. Due to this ability, Kei can target these specific parts instead of the substance as a whole. In this way he can bypass the drawback of requiring exposure to the substance to replicate it at the cost of its integrity. They can also lift things he otherwise could not on his own. What makes it unique is that each arm can act as a hose that shoots out water, which Kei delivers through handles on his device. Only these handles hold the liquid which is a negligible amount, making his Quirk crucial in its use. Other than putting out fires, he can adjust its focus to the point it becomes a jet cutter, letting him cut through materials if given enough time to do so.
