“what no… it works plenty…” yeah my bat’s broken but it’s not like lazy or anythin. “it’s trying it’s best and gives 100% every time i swing but it’s just not what it used to be anymore y’know..?” i hope my bat doesn’t think poorly of it. we all need help gettin to our tip top shape sometimes. i was a mess before yams trained me up a bit. strong sure but weak compared to where i was now.

“i was told some people over here could help me out maybe? maybe fix it up and reinforce it a bit or somethin’ so it doesn’t break as easily next time.” yeah, change is scary. but i’m sure it can take it. i’d rather it stay with me than replace it altogether. i’ve had to bat for a short amount of time but that doesn’t make it any less important.

“im rem btw, nice to meet you.” i look at them both. they seem to be having a good time. and wow what an uncanny facial features… they’re blurry in all the same ways. “are you two siblings btw?”

wow. that was a pretty big delay. if my summon didn’t pause their attack, surprised i can see them (how silly cos i made them ofc i can see them!), then retsu woulda been a rolling head.

blink. blink.

what the heck did she just pull out? before i can even make heads or tails of it, and guns don’t have either of those things, it explodes! like whoa… she’s carrying some serious heat with her! wonder what she needed it for.

“wellllll, sorry ‘bout that.” there isn’t a corpse left to question. guess i’ll have to make a different guy at some other point and see what the heck his deal was. “i was tryna make a quirk disappear but i guess i can just summon people now? how strange.”

with a sigh… i refocus. how should i even go bout this kinda thing. if only yams were here to help me out and drop some wisdom already. somethin’ like ‘you already know how. the eyes remember’ would sure be helpful or somethin’.

she’s almost mean. not the bad type of mean, sort of. there’s a lot of cruel people out there who are doing it for all the wrong reasons. there isn’t ever really a time to treat people poorly, but some reasons are better than others. like this chick was definitely on edge. her soul rough and a lot of its shaking i think had to do with the fact she’s scared. i’d prolly be scared too if i had a quirk and ran into someone who could turn them off. but i’m not even afraid of losing this one… i’m more afraid of losing the eyes cos they’re all i have left of yams.

“mmm no. he had to blink eventually. and even if he didn’t his brain would hurt if he held it too long. if he wanted to switch to someone else, too, then the first person affected would regain it.” i know it’s weird to be this open about your weaknesses, but he had a rep. this kind of quirk always did.

lookin at the circle i try to pretend that it is the eye. and all that i see is being stared at. it’s still tough to imagine though… by the time i look up her eyepatch is gone.

“wait...” but her eye is still there. was she a pirate or somethin? "if you have your eye why do you wear that?"

there i am. here i am!

it’s a landfill. i love it here. it’s like the biggest dumpster in the world, a paradise for a trash eatin’ kinda guy such as myself. but it’s about that time of week where i’ve already looked through all the goods i can and there’s no scraps to be had. i’ve got other places to go, usually. you get used to this kind of thing out here on this rotten streets of japan. you find grub where you can grab it. but today wasn’t a day for grabbin grub and givin your guts a good gmeal. it was time to work!

sometimes i’m fighting a lot of people right? and a lot of people have quirks. but i’m only able to shut down one a time for a little bit and it doesn’t really help when there’s a lot of good quirks. i’ve been tough enough so far but i’ve seen more of what these eyes can do because of yams. he did so many cool things… like turn off quirks in an area. no one could get close to him when his eyes were open or their quirks would shut off automatically.

in the the small, personal alleyways where we lived it turned powerful bullied into wimps. i don’t want to make anyone feel bad about themselves — having a quirk or not having one isn’t really too important, being nice is — but if it’s me or them then i gotta choose me. so… i guess i just have to think about how it works.

if he’s not lookin’ at the quirk factor but the field only activates when he’s keepin his eyes open then… man, this hurts my brain so much. wish i had someone smart to talk to.

oh my gosh that was such a clean hit and it looked really strong too! what was craziest is that if he had all his quirks then maybe he was using his top defensive one’s too and jun was just that strong! could prolly beat me in an arm wrestling contest, too with knees like those! i mean, unless her strength was only in her knees? but i don’t think so. i have strong knees and the rest of me is strong so i’m pretty sure about that. are people are cheering in the crowd, too.

“mood ring…” what a weird name. “i dont really get it. or maybe it’s cos he’s almost out of the ring or somethin’?”

“Her constructs are fueled by her emotions.”

“whoa how do you know that?”

“I just put two and two together.”

“what does four have to do with this?”

“I—” left him speechless. if you just keep asking questions, people hit a wall where they don’t know the answer either. it’s not their fault. a person can only be so smart, y’know? “Just keep watching.”

“i think it’s over though?”

“Don’t count him out just yet. To go into this while not being able to take a hit would be pretty reckless.”
