everyone was SO tense.

i look around and everyone’s tryin their darndest to deal with the nomus as best they can. but there’s definitely something inside all of them that i don’t really understand. i get the stress, i think. i really don’t like havinta kill a thing either. yams taught me talkin is better than fightin even tho i spent most my life fightin and only a really, really small part talkin. most the time people ain’t wanna talk to me anyway.

but see once talkin is over i can go back being, uh, me! yknow the me that grew up in the dumpster, the me that eats outta trash cos people toss away totally good food! a lil rotten sure but that adds zest, yknow?

i broke away from the group.

see i never had great eyes. i was never too smart either. i dont really get what other people are thinkin. like is it sentences? pictures? i think in colors. little colorful, blobs. and it’s hard to decipher these cryptic messages that everyone seems to make sense of but man, a mission is a mission is a mission.

but the nomus were colored, too. and it’s little patterns like those that really stick out to my gut. it’s just a feeling. and not the kind you get when you find a dead skunk in your sleepin bag. it’s hard to explain but my gut knows things that my brain will neverrrr fully get.

so everyone’s fighting. everyone’s stressed.

i’m not even tired.

i should be. i’ve been working hard this whole time. listening is a lot! but i’ve been listening to everything. i can even hear the nomu’s little pattern. it’s just in his head. but… i’m in his head, too. listening.

i’ve got some awesome people helping me out, if i’m being honest. they’re making it teleport. and get tired. and hitting it hard. and best of all they’re keeping it busy. my gut knows where it’s going. it’s known where it’s going for these last 30 seconds. but i’m not fast enough to catch it! it’s only cos everyone elses help.

so when i get there… i plan on helping, too!

“gotcha!” it pops right into my vision. just like i knew it would! red eyes, spikey hair the whole shebang. now just hopin it stays right here. “pow!!”

“aw, man….” i can’t pull my arm out. i made it all the way to its back. “i’m stuck.. someone help get this thing off of me!! ”

i didn’t really understand was happenin.

there was wayyyy too many colors, shapes, and movement. my eyes had trouble keeping up but i knew to look out for the nice guy’s voice. djinn had hired me after all. and even though money meant nothin to a silly lil goose such as myself the fact he was asking and willing to pay for my help was a lot more than most people!

so, i guess when he told me to look at the one beast my body knew to listen. honestly? leading, following… it’s all the same to me. it’s kinda why i run shinjuku like that. we all are good for somethin’ and djinn seems like he knows how to use these eyes of mine!

“you’ve gotta bigger brain than me.” i’m followin as best i can. “tell me who to look at and i’ll get the job done! i’m pretty strong too tho so… i can punch…”

he’s not done slammin’ down on me, huh? right through the wall to follow up on that hit and to think i thought i could outsmart him! it may not look it but i’m pretty tough. i shoulda stuck to like punchin the guy out. especially since once i look at him… he’ll get weaker i’m pretty sure. if anything two of those arms gotta stop at least…

“oh hey.” i bump into some mean lookin’ gal who was maybe weirdly excited at the mess we brought into the place. “you mind if i grab one of these muffins after this?”

he’s revvin up again and i’m not sure if i’ll be able to protect her from a hit of his… man, there’s only one thing to do but i really don’t wanna get hit again.

“hey big guy cmon over here!” a distraction! i side step before he commits to his charge and start doin’ a little dancin to make sure he’s followin’ me. they call this one the cotton eyed joe in the states according to yams. i dont really know what that means but i’m tryin my best here

the rats did NOT want to talk.

there was a lot of stuff goin on around me and maybe i could be helpin more but here i was gettin jumped by rats again. i thought the days were behind me now that i was all growed up but nooo, they wanted to keep up the turf war. well, fine by me.

a punch, a kick, and they start fallin off the bridge! it’s endless, but they aren’t too strong… and with the bridge limiting how many can come to me i think i’m doin pretty well! but then we got some four-armed monsters comin’ our way and….

omg did they reflect that guy’s quirk? that’s so cool.

but…

sometimes hurts my head, i think… i think… oh yeah. that’s an idea.

if it can reflect quirks… like the way it’s currently reflectin those fancy lil strings… then maybe it’ll reflect my nullification of its ability and nullify my nullifying? i’ve never had a quirk to nullify before so i wonder how it feels. fun, prolly, i think!

i run forward and throw a hefty punch towards it's gut as my red, unblinkin eye stares right at it. turns out it doesn't feel like anythin afterall? that's when i notice, at it reels at the blow, the red strings it was reflectin are gone... nice!

home sweet home.

there’s nothin quite like relaxin in a heap of garbage after havin to play big boss to a bunch of people you don’t wanna be in charge of anyway. fortunately, they taught about this thing called democracy and how everyone can have a voice and i’m like whoa yeah i want that for sure. they still kinda give me a little extra leverage but that’s cos i’m like really good at arm wrestlin i think.

funny thing about that is, i beat someone at it once and then they attacked me for it. ripped the guys arm off by mistake but i thought it was a prank. they ended up tryin to kill me so i had to squeeze his head like a grape to protect me and a new friend i made. she was an awesome bat. like the sport.

turns out he knew people. and now that i have more of a rep or whatever it’s like… damn… i’m such a target. things have calmed down from the initial big WHOOSH everyone knows me!! buuuut i still get the straggler every once awhile.

he’s got four arms and an attitude and honestly really strong shoulders. he threw me through a wall of a nearby cafe like nuffin — no muffins.

“dang, i coulda used one of those muffins… ow…”
