[attr="class","body"] The night was young. As two friends and an unlikely ally would gather together, they would be ignorant to the trials ahead. The mysterious scientist behind the first assault on Masao and Enma had a plethora of terrible creations. Amalgamations of technology and biochemistry. The truest form of biomancer was someone willing to push boundaries, crossing them even. What lied ahead didn't possess the malleable nature of Nomu, but with the historically young presence of quirks came a wave of inevitable evils in science. Within the warehouse were what the media would call the Cyberpsychoes, but this scientist would refer to them as Chimera. Versatility engineered, artificial and with their humanity shattered by modification. The mistake made here was that the palates needed their humanity removed, whereas one could only imagine that Nomu might never have possessed it in the first place. At the very least, the monsters awaiting these three were more immature, though still deadly. The gate ahead would be ajar, allowing them free entrance. Nobody would stop them from intruding, from defying the orders that Masao was precisely given. The complex was a base floor and second floor, the second floor being all office space and the base being all processing. Whatever criminal activity passed through here played a role in the operations and terrible experimentation. The second floor was likely a skeleton meant to be filled with meat when optics needed to be maintained. The desolate base floor would have not been touched for weeks in preparation of this night. Once they entered, the very back would have their next destination. An elevator with nothing obstructing them seemingly as only the safety marks and empty warehouse shelves remained. They weren't even blocking the path, all of them sorted into the left and right and enough space for large vehicles to fill the center. With hundreds of feet between the entrance before the party and the elevator that would most likely be centered in their view, it was...too easy. Half-way through, it could be clearly seen by the safety lights a wide smear of blood extending all the way to the elevator. No sign, no sounds, but the message was clear. Step over this horizon, you will abandon your safety.

[attr="class","body"] Enma's specialty was protecting people, but not necessarily calming them down. Maybe there was more to public relations other than a good image. The image helped quell fears and feelings of doom upon the very sight of a hero, but it takes more than that usually. What will the hero do to prove they are reliable? Can they extinguish the chaos of villainy that threatens the lives of the public. Battles had a lot of consequences on the heart of the average person. So when he thought about finally embracing his quirk's peaceful side, as much as it made him sick, he crouch and began manifesting various colors from his finger tips. The blush on his cheeks had been amplified as his discomfort regarding this particular use of Inkheart coincided with the mystic inks of its power. There was also Kikurage's spite that seemed like he wouldn't be hated forever but also that he very much had to suffer her judgment. "I can...apply painting in different ways?" Drawing a small mural along the ground with simmering colors, bubbling and unstable from his lack of confidence. They were vibrant, a stark contrast to the shadow that was Enma. It was like he wanted to be lost and unseen when in the presence of the warmth of hope in its palette. It simply said, "I will protect". "I don't know the full scope, but when speaking fails, I guess I can give directions too."He looked to Lucius for guidance, darting his eyes over to Jun and then finally Oniki. "Oniki, I think that you represent strength when you're transformed. If they know you're there to protect them, maybe they won't fear you. Also, I...can paint very quickly, yes." A nervous smirk as he turned to observe Jun guiding Kikurage and working with Ms. Pavlina. Looking back at his mural, crouched and held his knees. What if he wasn't good at calming someone down? He could calm Masao down, but she knew him. She was an outlier, despite lov-- despite her being a very important person to him. "What are some images that can calm someone down? Is this what would need that personal branding I hear about?" Tilting his head, it seemed that he struggled tapping into his creative side consciously, despite his line-work being elegant. This was hard.

[attr="class","body"] If there was something Enma lacked, it was how to be present for the people. He could fight, he could hunt, but he could NOT for the life of him give a smile that wasn't scary to an onlooker. In fact, he had recently even embarrassed himself and left a bad impression on fellow students when he accidentally injured one during a lesson hosted by Farrin. With the spirit of keeping a baseline competency for these things, he needed to branch out. There was the growing friendships, the budding love between Masao and him, the increasing complexity of his presence at UAU. That was only going to continue to be the case as he prepared to be a hero. As he entered and lurked more in the back, he would hear the initial lecture and nodded along. Yuki Onna gave him crucial advice and he even took a social media class as a way of covering his own ass. Enma needed to do more. Arriving in his usual dark themes, lighter in material and swordless; he wondered what the class could teach him. As he wanted to find his place in the class, he saw Jun whom had defeated him in their game of 80K. That was a friend, at least he thought. Not realizing who was next to her, he came up and greeted the fellow student. "Jun-san, I did not know you were taking this class. How are the figures--"His heart sank. He hadn't had the opportunity to properly apologize to Kikurage. The venom in her response made him fear that he hadn't the possibility to repair that initial impression. "Ah, hello there. I...hope you can forgive me for what happened. I've been studying non-stop to make sure that doesn't happen again..." Sheepish, Enma hadn't quite hardened his emotions when it came to being in presence of potential colleagues. It was a vast expanse that the journey for was very analog. Seeing Oniki, Enma was actually excited because he appreciated the honest nature of their match. Using it as an excuse for leaving Jun and Kikurage alone, he met her. "Oniki! I think your quirk is cool." What was he? A kid? Enma was trying, that's what mattered. The frightening part of the class was the way they were going to...use their quirk's parlor tricks? What could he do? Break something and fix it? "Um...I can, uh, paint." Vague, smooth, incredible parlor trick. It was likely the most surprising part of his power or himself, whether someone knew what he did in a fight or not. He swore he would keep the image of a deadly monster hunter as his sole reputation. Maybe this was how...he let go of those insecurities imposed by Papa Arashi.

[attr="class","body"] Was it honorable or embarrassing that Helsing took such damage this early on? Fighting beyond your limits, keeping the spirit of the cause you fight for ablaze even when the brazier of your body has crumbled; wasn't this Plus Ultra? Rahul made a necessary sacrifice to keep the flame lit, all the raiders being torch-bearers to find that final bonfire of victory together. From all walks of life, people came together. How can Enma honor Rahul? As his consciousness slipped and he was whisked away from the mere entrance into the further depths of Takamagahara, he was treated at the heroes' infirmary. Awaking, he would look at his marred feet and wonder what he could have done differently. Relying so much on his body, he felt a twinge of guilt. Raiju was nearby with its split scabbard. Pulling the pieces together, he would began using the Journey to mend it. In reflection, it seemed that the Journey for Raiju had come to an end. A beautiful, unique manifestation of the Arashi Inkheart that crafted legends into the steel. They weren't samurai, they weren't zealots of bushido either. They were Arashi. Enma was the torch-bearer for that at least, so he let the Journey fizzle as he needed further care. While his entrance into the next stage of the raid would be delayed, he would there when needed most. The experience of the opening battle was only a taste of what was to come. There was more for him to do. He didn't know Rahul, but it took a grand resolve, an embodiment of Plus Ultra that justified pushing beyond those limits of his. Still feeling the burn of the ultra-heated diamond, Enma swallowed it and knew that not long from then...Helsing would rise again. Don't be weak. It's up to you.

[attr="class","body"] The greater the beast, the greater the cage. It took a lot to truly put down a monster such as Dracula. It took ingenuity, it took study. Beasts like Dracula were devilish creatures that needed a lifetime of research captivated within the brevity of a mortal's life. The greater the stakes, the motivation -- the spite, even -- the more efficient the search. Answers were needed NOW. The question? How to remove the obstacle stopping whatever force was driven to want to cleave the inheritor Paragon from the world. After the psychotic cyborg was faulted in his efforts, arrested and shattered, it was back to the drawing board. Masao was given too much freedom by her family it seemed, but no one could account for love. Two strays in a world of social people that made high-octane, artificial connections with the berth of the internet and the inherent necessity of public relations in hero work. The dark manipulator could not have the foresight that the first attempt would be thwarted by this monster of a mortal. Now, that issue was rectified. There was a facility, well-hidden in Tokyo Bay under the guise of a shipping warehouse. The warehouse wasn't seemingly too large on the outside, but it was a skeleton that was operated by this manipulator. On the inside, it was a complex that descended into Yomi it seemed. At the heart of it, a mechanical well. The laboratory contained within the heart of the complex already extended two sub-levels down, but within the lab was Enma's prison. Originally, it was built to contain erratic chimera built by this mysterious malefactor. Now, it plunged Enma down 60 meters in a watery prison. Pressure squeezed all around him, a mask providing air and shrouding his senses. All he could feel was a cold cage around him. In this belly of water, his arms were outstretched and clasped past the elbow with large, metal cylinders split into segments used to adjust to the limbs captured. A girdle was cast around him, attached to a spine with needles digging into his spine all throughout and finally connecting to the mask. This kept him preserved, ripe for experimentation once Masao was dealt with. As for her, she was left to wait for hours before finally being contacted. It came in the form of mysterious dead drops that hoped to inflate her paranoia and make her steep in fear. She was to come alone to the facility. Of course, that wasn't going to happen. The implied consequence would be the risks to Enma's life, but there was a promise in the dead drops that he would be released if she complied. Unaware of how they caged him and what to anticipate, who would she call on?

Okami may seem like a blood-soaked blade to some, but came from a heart full of roses. As part of Enma's specifications, it was made to be super-weighted in a way that his innate strength could handle with ease, but not so easily by the average layperson. [attr="class","body"] Masao was an angel. Pure to a fault, which is why she was perfect for him. They had their own issues that made socializing hard, but to find someone it was easy with meant everything. They've gone beyond that, the two having shared their bodies, their minds, their souls. Enma could do things like make breakfast for her, clean the dishes, make her life easy before she engaged in her duties as a smithing genius. As he moved like lightning, he would not give her the opportunity to lift a finger. She needed to know just how much she vitalized him. With that vitality, they needed to make use of it before it was wasted. "Of course it's a yes. I'll let you do the dishes when I die!" He giggled as she did, making sure everything was spotless and dry before meeting her once more. As clothes removed, as embraces were had, he squeezed her waist and felt the soft, beautiful flesh that made him know this was real. Pulled into the shower, he'd scoop her up and carry her along. The shower wasn't just for hygiene. = Some time after the shower, Masao was getting ready to go receive an order. They both had this...glow about them. It made him forget that she was only recently in danger. Only recently they would have their first hurdle as a couple, overcoming the psychotic cyborg that was sent to assassinate her and anyone she was with. Enma forgot that he was someone who struggled with the world and the loneliness that captivated him. Masao eliminated that loneliness and helped him be confident in befriending others. The advice of those that taught him was one thing, but she was his hope. As she gave him her keys, they kissed for the last time and she ran away saying she loved him. It happened so fast, that she saw a blushing Enma stunned by it. "I...love you too, Masao!" Holding the keys with a fluttering heart, he felt like they took a big step in their relationship. This was love. Love was accepting that they could trust each other and plan for a brighter future. Could they eventually live together? Would their relationship become something more...than boyfriend-girlfriend? Shaking himself free of the fantasies, he needed to grab something from his apartment in preparation for work. Making his way there, he'd absent-mindedly leave her dorm keys in his own as he grabbed his uniform and credentials. It was time to put his foot down. His father couldn't use him anymore, he had to accept that Enma's life was going to become a lot more dedicated and he needed time for hero work and all that entails along with his support of Masao. Entering Tokyo, he would make some distance between the university and him. Captivated by the fact that he had a true love and that their relationship was truly beautiful and blossoming, his senses weren't so keen. Mumbling under his breath and caught up in his fantasies, his vision went blurry. Something struck him. It wasn't enough, he was stronger than this. Turning, he saw a set of laser-red eyes. Something else struck him. More eyes, then another piercing feeling. Everything dulled until everything went dark. Whoever captured Enma and dragged him into the van knew that he wouldn't go down easily. The uniform and credentials were left behind. A note was left in front of Masao's dorm. We will contact you. We have him. Come quietly, come alone. Don't and he suffers.

[attr="class","body"] Oniki was a very undisciplined fighter. What she lacked in hardened skill, she made up for in brutish warrior spirit. It wasn't always a good thing to be like that, but there was something to find in the wild, unkempt fire of someone who fought with such zeal and rage. Still, it meant that there wasn't a moment where Enma was afraid of her. He respected that with a little honing, maybe she'd pummel him down. As the demon she was now, that simply wouldn't happen. Today, he would defeat Oniki. Where there was cheap tactics that were only rewarding in the short-run of a combatant's experience, there were refined exploitations of vulnerabilities that a seasoned tactician could make use of on anyone. Long-term gains came from discipline, volatility came from raw power. As he stunned her momentarily, she let out a curse that didn't make him any less cold and calculated. The crowd roared at the very physical battle, a tight match with precision and good back-and-forth. As Oniki threatened him with something unknown and awful, Enma felt that maybe for a moment the tables would turn. A rain cloud would summon, coinciding with the nimbus way above that darkened their match. Drawing the rain cloud into her hand, Enma saw the display of a devil's magic. With frail and fizzled-out gusto, Oniki was completely exposed. "I've never been more sure." As she fell to her knees, spent by her quirk, he had to decide what kind of end the match would have. Crouching low, he tried to meet her eyes. "You're strong, Oniki." Thrusting the hilt of Raiju into her, he pushed with so much force that the exhausted oni would go rolling out of the ring. Knowing she could take it, he did it almost as quickly as her knees touched the ground. Enma didn't want her to show the crowd that she was simply tired, that would be weakness. Still, he needed her to feel his might. As the announcer called the match, Enma bowed towards her. "Strength isn't everything." Walking away, he felt triumphant as he won his match in reliance on his tactical mind instead of brute force. Might could go far, but Certainty can go much further.

[attr="class","body"] Today was going to define a lot for Helsing. Crossing the horizon, swallowing his fears, shouldering loss for the sake of the future. He knew that he would lose people that in his mind's palace, he could see bridges being built to. Distance that could've closed. That was the pre-requisite of victory for the raid on Takamagahara. He needed to trust Masao that she took care of herself, she needed to trust that he would do everything in his power to make it home to her. Things were beginning to heat up, both regarding the stakes and in the literal sense as his feet...He couldn't worry about them now. The dragon was glowing, roaring, threatening to undo the gambit that was still underway. Vox, Playboy and him were able to open up the first part of the end of this initial raid. Enma didn't have time to worry about how this was only the beginning. He didn't have time to worry about how the beasts threatened to thwart the first part of a much deeper raid. As the dragon's hide lit up like the sun, Stellar helped whisk the boy with burning feet away. Helsing's eyes were blazing with dark crimson, vibrant as the dragon's sun-like luminescence. The Raid of Takamagahara East would paint upon his torso through the Journey, showing his feelings on his sleeves and the battle on his back. Raiju would enter one final transformation, detailing the combatants that helped bring down the owl and dragon. It developed as the scene unfolded, hidden within the scabbard that acted as armor. Everything was happening so fast. Split-second decisions that could fail or further their goals had all worked out in the raiders' favor. "Thanks Stellar! Vox, don't worry about me. As long as we're together, I CANNOT fail. WE will not fail." Helsing's quirk was putting his emotions on overdrive, but he never felt more confident in what he needed to do. He just had to look to Rahul, who helped keep the anxious, neuro-divergent Enma an active part of their fundraiser. Who helped him when he was having a panic attack because he wasn't accustomed to public mistakes. Rahul became a statue, a symbol, a moment where Helsing had to act without hesitation and with the greatest might he could muster. If he despaired now, unsure of what it meant for Rahul to crystallize, he would fail the world. No big deal. As the meteor crashed down, Helsing needed to plunge it as deep as it could go. Thank-you, Rahul. I want to go home to Masao. Waiting for the moment to play his part, a quiet prayer and admiration slipped. "Plus...Ultra."The moment came, Helsing would ascend and dash in a spiral up the meteor before kicking off of its table. Eyes, body, sword all radiating from the Journey; he sealed the monsters' coffin. They fought, trying to push the lid off the pot as hard as they could. Heat plumed from the crevices, fumes split by the diamond's facets. Like a firing pin, the warrior plunged Raiju and a near-cataclysmic tremor would shake the East wing of Takamagahara. Through vibrations, he felt the tip forcibly form a culet on the owl as heat rose. The diamond became red-hot with the dragon's incredible heat and Helsing both kept the Nomu buried and withstood the heat for as long as he could. His boots turned to ash, ankles of his pants being eaten by combustion. While diluted, it still incredibly injured him as the flesh of his feet marred. It didn't matter, he needed to make Rahul's sacrifice worth it. Looking down, fighting tears, he clenched his jaw to hold back crying out in pain. Whipping his head up to Stellar, shaking violently, he would stare wide-eyed and seized in dutiful suffering. When it eventually subsided, he would collapse and smell the burning flesh. The Journey fizzled away and Raiju's scabbard fell apart. Revealing the bottom half of the blade showing the raid, it would tell the tale in three parts. The blackguard and terrible archers. The salamanders and lesser owls. A portrait of Rahul, diamond-like and capsuled by the traditional mark of one as it descended into a pit containing the blazing dragon and inky-black greater owl. Grabbing his scabbard as it sizzled against the super-heated diamond, he couldn't muster the words but he could shuffle to his feet. Someone needed to grab him, stepping slowly across red-hot carbon that was mostly buried into the ground. Not many steps later, he would collapse once more. The battle was hopefully over.

Life wasn't simple, as much as Enma would like to simplify. They both had their responsibilities, routines and disciplines that needed to be upheld. If he didn't maintain his training, he would not be able to protect Masao. There was also university life, especially with their university not being a normal academic one. As for the job...he knew that would have to change as true internship was around the corner and a new element was added to his life. Masao needed to meet his father. There was no doubt in his mind that his father would welcome her into the Arashi fold, as her family was of far greater renown and respect. It still frightened him as he knew that Masao wanted to protect him just as much as the other way around. While they enjoyed their time and their breakfast, Enma thought about how they could have more of these sweet moments. Not just moments, of some kind of permanency to their time together. "It makes me happy to know you can appreciate it. Your work requires such focus, so it's good to be properly fed." He said it with a smile as they finished their food. As she seemed disappointed in the limited time they'd have, it made him want to renegotiate even more with his father. "Thankfully, I only need to work when he needs me. It's...part of our agreement."If their agreement fell through, what could his father even do? Enma was an accomplished student at this point. His potential was undeniable and soon, agencies were going to want him. As they finished and Masao began to offer that they shower together, he nearly spit out his water and immediately cleared the plates. "Masao. Get the water running." Never did he so vigilantly begin cleaning the kitchen and everything used to make breakfast. By the time he was done, he would find himself meeting Masao in full preparation for the shower. Grabbing her waist, he would pull her close and feel her tall, strong, beautiful figure. "I promise it's not the only thing on my mind, but..." Gripping her hip and sweeping his thumb along her abs, he looked up with renewed desire. "The shower is going to be necessary."Something about this new element to their relationship invited the most boldness Enma could muster. Everything was easy with her, so like a pair of love-ridden university students...he prompted to continue their activities from the previous night. Masao Ando

The gravity of their sudden catch was not apparent until the end of this encounter. They were doing a simple patrol that night, but Yuki Onna was more privy to what was going on than she originally let on. Rain was rain, that seemed to be as common as breathing in Shinjuku. It wasn't obvious to her likely until the assault began, and now they have closed the book on the Mirage duo. Familial bonds weren't enough to garner mercy or pity from the budding hero, but it was still sad. As law enforcement would finish up, the two were left to recovery from the battle. There was something in Enma that wondered if the fantasy he held regarding who he would be as a hero wasn't quite the reality. There was a part of him that wanted to do more...than incapacitate the Mirage half. There was a well of darkness in Raiju's scabbard that wanted to be released. At this point, having a katana seemed more symbolic than functional. But the blade was a statement if drawn. Maybe being a hero was about making the choice to keep the blade sealed and only draw it in the gravest of times. Yuki Onna taught him without words and encouraged his goodness, so he felt justified in keeping the blade sheathed. This was the kind of influence he needed, making his rage towards criminals more apparent as being nothing more than that. If he can let go of his anger, he continue on this path. There was kindness in him, Yuki Onna could see that. He blushed, fumbling in response and his face exposed now that his makeshift disguise was worn by the rain and battle. "Yuki Onna I--" He was going to deny that he was some softie or that he didn't conduct himself as well as he could as he nearly injured the hero. But he stopped himself, nodding and clutching Raiju tightly. The lessons that night would remain with him for a long time. "Thank-you, Yuki Onna-senpai." A student of few words, Enma knew that what would come after would be an even harder challenge. That challenge was to open himself up, make real connections his second year of UAU and beyond, and be more than some dark executioner. "I hope you'll have me for another patrol soon." Nodding, he would enjoy being out of the rain. Eventually making it back home, Enma inspected Raiju and cleaned it. Through the labor of maintaining his sword from the rain, he meditated on the night. The budding hero had a hand in the final conclusion on a villain's career without involving death. In fact, he likely saved lives from the vengeful Mirage half. What if it was a less experienced or weaker hero in their crosshairs? Someday, he'd be challenged to make this decision again between life and death. Enma hoped he could spare his soul once more from his dark temptations. Finishing the maintenance, removing his soaked clothes and showering, he prepared himself for bed. That night, sleep came easy and comfortably. Shirayuki Mai
