Jingjing gave a laugh at the comparison, glancing off to the side before catching herself and moving over to adjust a random thing she'd ended up looking at to try and not look so... guilty. Thankfully he was focused on his work, so maybe she didn't need to bother covering her reaction up, but she relaxed again after a moment. Tipping her head to one side and thinking back to when she had first had all this stuff set up, she gave a more sincere giggle. "That description... actually is pretty accurate."
Blinking at him before his question, Jingjing broke out into a proud grin as she dropped her hands down to her hips and gave a big nod. "Yup! Here at Random Play we actually put a lot of effort into our drinks, treats and service! Want some? I can whip it up super quick!"
Part of her enthusiasm was just not being good at being idle, but if he did want something she'd quickly ask what kind before scurrying off to get him some coffee. It wasn't gourmet coffee or anything, but it wasn't like that burned-up junk some placed tried to serve their customers or super stale grounds that tasted like dirt. It was just coffee, made with care! If he didn't want anything though, Jingjing would visibly deflate and resign herself to just watching him work in the meantime. wraith,

Jingjing's eyes went up like she was trying to look up at her own horns when the stranger's did, momentarily wondering what could have gotten in her hair. Maybe a twig or a leaf or something? Jingjing tipped her head in confusion, hands coming up to pat at her hair in search of whatever was in it while she tried to parse what the stranger was talking about. A forest? Big ideas? Sleeping was like dying? Turning into a sheep? Right at that last thought it clicked, her Quirk had activated and the 'thing-in-her-hair' was her horns! And counting sheep was probably where the sleep thing came in, and she had said scared-half-to-death before transforming so...
Bringing her hands back down and giving a little nod to herself as she thought she'd decoded the strangers train of thought, Jingjing blinked with a quiet "Eh?" at the offer. One eyebrow going up skeptically, another thing clicked and Jingjing perked up with a more enthusiastic nod and lightly clapping her hands together. "Oh, that'd be nice of you..." She trailed off, not sure what to claim she was looking for. "Ahh... but I've also forgotten what it is, but I'm sure I'll know it when I see it?"
She couldn't think of a better claim to make than that, and in her defense she actually was pretty forgetful! Besides... the person who had caught her sneaking around didn't seem to like they were supposed to be here either. Or was really just odd. Giving a pleasant smile under her face mask, not realizing it couldn't be seen, she added a quick introduction as she turned her attention back to looking around for evidence of wrong doing. "I'm Lion by the way."

Yume-Yasu sure was an oddball and half the stuff Jingjing wasn't sure exactly what meant. Were they an animal with a possession Quirk? A mutation type that didn't identify as human? A ghost, or even an alien? It was all very mysterious and it made it hard for her to focus on the task at hand and not let her imagination run wild - there'd be time for solving all these mysterious things later! The tendency to talk to themself left her in the dark about half the conversation, but she got the impression Yasu was being teased more than anything.
Although, maybe Yasu had been the one that started that fight over if natto was bad or not from the way Yume-Yasu was talking? Of course the actual encounter had been a mugging that she had stepped in on to try and save a civilian but she'd forgotten that detail at the moment.
"Knock 'em dead!" Jingjing encouraged with double thumbs ups, adjusting her own cat-ear headband one more time as she kept her distance to observe. Well, at least for a little bit until she noticed other customers that needed attending to! And then she was scurrying about doing her job with her usual bubbly-if-scatter-brained energy and keeping an eye and ear on how the test-run interview was going. Easy hire, if you asked her! And when all was said and done and they had a moment to step away again, Jingjing said as much with her hands on her hips and a big beaming smile: "Consider yourself the newest employee of Random Cafe! What kind of hours work for you? I'm super flexible, most of us here work pretty odd shifts... so actually it might take a bit to meet your coworkers come to think of it!"
Which was largely because of vigilante-ing on the side, but nobody needed to know that! Yasu & Yume,

Everyone from the Kingdom? Jingjing was so caught up in the excitement of costume-time that she almost immediately forgot about that odd phrasing, giving an enthusiastic nod at the excited reaction. "That's right! And the best part is, you can mix it up whenever you want as much as you want." She glanced at the cat-maid outfit and gave a quick "Ooh that's a great pick!" before blinking at the head shape comment. Cheeks puffing out, arms crossing under her chest with her hands tucked under her arms, she grumbled under her breath: "My head shape is cute, especially when I have my horns..."
But then she was distracted again, blinking and gave a beaming smile as she pulled her hands free to clap them lightly together. "You know what, that look really suits you!" Head tipping far to one side and cat ear headband almost sliding off again, Jingjing gave a quiet "Eh?" at the mention of a form that was cat like. Were they a transformation type too? Or some kind of possession-Quirk and they were talking about their original body? She was super curious now what that original body looked like, immediately picturing a massively fluffy tail and just as fluffy ears and puffy fur like those kinds of cats that looked fat but were actually just 90% hair. Most of those details not being mentioned at all and entirely her own imagination didn't matter to Jingjing and she gave her head a light shake to focus when it turned to actual questions being asked.
"Right! First off," Jingjing held up a finger, other hand dropping down to her hip. "Every customer has a different vibe they appreciate. Some like bubbly, others like relaxed, and some even like it if you're grumpy and rude. You'll get a sense for it the more you work here so I wouldn't worry about it too much if you're not clicking with someone - thats what your coworkers will be there for! As for policies..." She raised a second finger. "... mostly try not to get into any fights in the cafe! Take it outside, call the cops, that sort of thing." And without elaborating why they would be even getting into any fights in a cafe of all places anyways, she raised a third finger and continued. "Its not mandatory to say it, but our motto is 'Variety is the Life of Spice!' and its also the way we try to do business here too!"
With questions answered, and answering anything else that might come up, Jingjing gave the potential new hire a thumbs up and motioned for them to go try their hand at taking a customers order. Yasu & Yume,

The reaction from Yume-Yasu - or was it Yasu-Yume? - almost made Jingjing declare the interview passed right then and there. Enthusiasm, gratitude, a sincere spirit, and an upbeat energy that the customers would no doubt adore. But no, she should definitely do an actual interview even if she was pretty sure it wasn't going to be necessary. Tipping her head to one side at the questions, cat-ear headband shifting slightly askew, Jingjing missed most of the whispered conversation going on in front of her while she tried to hastily think up some answers. Should she schedule it for later, give herself some time to do a little prep? And they probably wouldn't need weapons unless it was part of some kind of spectacle thing, like those chefs sometimes did with their knives and other cookware.
Snapping out of her ponderings when the wave brought her back to focusing on the employee-to-be in front of her, Jingjing lightly bopped a fist into a palm as an idea came to her. "Oh, I know! Since a job like this is all about customer service, why don't you do a little trial run interacting with customers a bit? Then we can both... uh, all three of us, can see if it's a good job for you."
She gave a quick nod to herself and without really waiting to see if that idea would work or not she reached out to grab at one of her soon-to-be employees hands to try and half-lead, half-drag them off to the costume room. If there was any evasion or resistance at all she'd not force the matter, too busy excitedly rambling to let it bother her much either way. "Which means first things first, you get to pick out a costume for yourself! We have all kinds of things, some whole sets and some just random pieces, and you can always mix and match. Some stuff might not fit you perfectly, though... you're even shorter than I am and way scrawnier... but we can get you some better fitting stuff later, right?" Yasu & Yume,

The customer gave Yume a strange look, first a bit wide-eyed in surprise and then one eyebrow going up before seeming to dismiss the oddness entirely with a shrug of their shoulders as they took a sip of their coffee before giving a nod towards the back room. "Think she dipped back there a bit ago?"
As it happened, Jingjing came out again a moment later fiddling with a cat-ear headband atop her head to get it to sit right. Blinking at Yasu - no wait, it was Yume - as they rambled about some 'proposition' she gave a quiet "Ehh?" as they dropped to their hands and knees. That was such serious phrasing! Was it a favor they needed? Had they fallen for her? Or what if they had found out she was a vigilante somehow and needed her help? Were they being threatened by those thugs again? She could think of so many options she wasn't sure which answer to prepare when the actual question completely caught her off guard. That was... so mundane, compared to anything else she had expected! Face falling flat as she let out another drawn out "Ehhh...?" and stared down at Yume. "Isn't that a little over the top for asking for a job...?"
But then again, maybe they were super broke? They did eat natto, after all! Maybe that was just because it was cheap and lasted a long time? Giving a little nod as she convinced herself of her conclusion, Jingjing broke out into a reassuring smile as she crouched down and brought one hand out to try and give Yume a reassuring flat-palmed pat on the head. "Is that all? I can do that easy-peasy!" Then pausing, tipping her head to one side, she hastily added: "Oh but, maybe we should do an interview anyways? The girls would probably get mad at me if I just hired you no-questions-asked..." Yasu & Yume,

As it turned out, Quirk-activated-Yasu talked to himself too. Or herself? That introduction definitely seemed like this... personality? Mode-swap? Jingjing wasn't sure and if they weren't in the middle of a fight she'd have been curious enough to ask about exactly what was up with them. Was it a body-jacker Quirk taking over to help? Mind control from a telepathic friend? A split personality Quirk? All those speculative thoughts suddenly came crashing to a halt with Otawa's arrival on the scene, Jingjing craning her head up and leaning back to stare at the towering two headed figure.
"Big..." Was her summary, envisioning getting brutally crushed or torn apart by the not-quite-giant. Locking up like a deer in headlights, Yume had no issue at all scooping her up and making a break for it. Snapping out of it, she let herself get carried off to safety... and karma came back to punish her for her laziness when she found herself unceremoniously dropped on the floor again. With another "Oof", Jingjing accepted the helping hand to get to her feet and took a moment to make an attempt at straightening out her costume and getting and dirt off of it as best she could. "Well, I mean, we didn't get hurt, got in a couple hits in before leaving, and 'prevent you from being robbed or maimed' was the win condition, right?"
Giving them a thumbs up and then tilting her head to one side, she gave a bow - horns still jutting out from the sides of her head - and introduced herself. "I'm Fan Jingjing, by the way, and I really do work at a costume cafe with a nice view by the river."
She'd lost all her fliers and the girls would call her lazy if she didn't at least try to drum up a little bit of business!

Being called an idiot didn't bother her, not when it was in that bickering-y tone anyways. If she didn't get tossed she probably would have bickered right back, but she did and then she was attempting to dust herself off as she got to her feet. Her costume wasn't ruined but it was definitely getting more frumpy by the minute! And did these jerks even know how hard it was to get any kind of dust out of white sleeves? Returning the side-eyed look Yasu gave her, Jingjing would have pointed out that making an enemy lose their cool was a pretty common tactic but the thugs had apparently been provoked plenty at this point.
"That's the spirit!" She brought one hand up into the air, other hand up near her mouth like she was cheering Yasu on from the sidelines as he charged in and showed some really slick moves that he didn't normally look capable of. The complete 180 in voice and attitude was a surprise too. With a big poof mid-cheer her mane and horns came out, pushing her collar open as she took a wider stance to get ready to headbutt some thugs.
"I'm not a heroine, actually! Just a girl that works at a cafe!" She declared before throwing her stack of fliers in the face of one of the gang members about to swing at her before ramming them right in the gut.

Jingjing tipped her head to the side at Yasu's response, chiming back "I'm saying its okay to like bad things?" half to him and half to the thugs to see if they had any better idea what she had said wrong. Maybe this guy was one of those if-I-like-it-it-has-to-be-great types? She liked lots of bad things, and didn't mind admitting it! But more importantly the guy was still talking to himself and making himself sound like a nutcase - but she was willing to give him some benefit of the doubt here. Maybe he was a telepath talking to a friend? Or maybe a friend was a telepath talking to him? Or maybe he was wearing a wire? Ooooh maybe he was actually undercover?
Distracted by her thoughts she wasn't paying attention as one of the thugs grabbed her jacket, snapping her head down to frown as she stared at his hands. "Hey, watch the suit, the wrinkles took forever to get ou-" and then she was being tossed towards Yasu. Instincts kicked in and she tucked her arms in close to her body and legs close together and turned her toss into a shockingly elegant little twirl... but was going to fail to stick the landing and flop unceremoniously on the ground if nothing intervened. Either way she'd murmur a "Oof", more at her outfit being scuffed up than anything else before turning her attention to Yasu. She had no idea who Yume was, or what he was talking about, but if he didn't mind using his Quirk to fight off some thugs? She didn't mind encouraging it!
"Well, these guys look pretty mad. You're pretty mad, right guys?" She asked, getting some yells of "No shit!" and "Of course!" and one "Not rea-" before that one got silenced with a bop to the shoulder. Nodding at the confirmation, she got ready to hype herself up. Being tossed had actually helped a bit. "So since they're mad they probably won't just rob you, they'll beat you and maybe even maim you and who knows what else!" Jingjing gave a little 'bleh' sound at the horror-movie-tier images she put in her own head, ready to transform at a moments notice if she had to.
If his Quirk worked anything like hers, imagining what horrible things might be done to them would definitely trigger flight-or-fight pretty hard. Yasu & Yume,

Glancing between one gang member and another, her bright-and-cheerful act briefly became genuine when one of them complimented their coffee and the short girl gave a self-indulgent little mie-xie-xie giggling snicker at the praise for their coffee. And a little bit at how silly the whole tough guy act was. Honestly, what was wrong with liking coffee or costume cafes? But then her good mood faded when one of the thugs tore up her flier right in front of her, and had the nerve to threaten her on top of that! With... what, exactly, she wasn't sure. Glancing in sincere confusion at Yasu, ignoring the shake of his head, she gave him a scrutinizing once over with a slight squint of her eyes and a scrunch of her nose she failed to see anything wrong that had been done to him at all. Although now that she was looking she noticed something and turned back to the gang member to ask: "Even shorter?"
She wasn't trying to be mean, but maybe this guy had some kind of shrinks-you Quirk? That thought put her a bit on edge, shifting her feet to be ready to move at a moments notice. She couldn't afford to get any shorter than she already was!
Then the whole natto reveal happened, a grossed out face flashing across her face even as she chimed in to defend him with her hands on her hips. "That's right! Just because he likes slimey, rotted beans that smell like a dumpster and talks to himself doesn't mean you should insult him over it! Didn't your parents teach you any manners? Or are you just not 'tough enough' to eat natto?"

On her way to the festival herself, Jingjing had fliers tucked under one arm decked out in a blue and white uniform with big yellow buttons and a long tie that swayed as she power-walked along. It'd taken longer than she'd expected to get her costume how she wanted it before heading out and had lost track of time. Who knew it was so hard to get a tie to sit exactly right and keep sleeves from getting all wrinkled? Normally she didn't actually care that much, but being super snazzy and tidy was part of the costume this time! As much of a hurry as she was in she almost didn't notice the brewing conflict, pausing with one leg raised high for a step and tilting her head to the side. That sure looked like a mugging to her. For the briefest moment she remembered Ando-san trying to dissuade her from vigilantism... giving a mental 'pfft' at that - she hadn't even sought it out this time! Or the last couple times, actually! Was she supposed to just ignore it because it wasn't her problem? She didn't think Ando-san was the kind of person who would disagree that helping someone in trouble was the right thing to do, and besides she wasn't here to be all armored and tall and scary anyways. Pivoting on her grounded foot Jingjing turned towards the commotion and took a couple more steps before calling out: "O-hay-o! Have you heard of Random Cafe? It has a great spot by the river, plenty of cute employees in all kinds of costumes, and great snacks and service!" With a big beaming smile and a tilt of her head to try and channel her best sales pitch, arm held up and out with a flier towards the taller thug. Eyes half-closed to try and help sell the smile on her face, Jingjing glanced at Yasu out of the very corner of her eye to try and convey that she was attempting to help him out. Yasu & Yume,

Jingjing just gave a hasty "Uh-huh, Crab Fishing!" at Masao's confusion, and thankfully the hero student was on the same page when it came time to shove the villain overboard. Plopping down with a exhausted sigh, feet out to the sides with her hands together in front of her as she peered over the edge to watch the bubbles rising up from where the villain had sank. "Good thing your armor isn't bouyant." Jingjing noted, before giving a nod at Masao's question about her Quirk side effect. She could have explained it fully, but there wasn't really all that much in her book - she forgot who she was temporarily whenever she overused her quirk. For once it had actually come in handy instead of being inconvenient, though, so she couldn't help the amused look on her face.
Sure enough Masao got her Quirk back and promptly excused herself to rescue the villain from potentially drowning, Jingjing puffing out her cheeks in a pout and complaining "Do we have to?" even as she pushed herself to her feet and helped Masao and the villain out of the water again when they resurfaced. Not that she had much strength to offer, but it was the thought that counted, right?
The flames suddenly vanishing from around Jingjing's head had her patting at her cheeks and hair curiously, a big beaming smile breaking out on her face as her horns and fluffy mane returned with a poof. "Yes! Its back!" She brought both arms up and crossed to hug her own mane and give her horns a few affectionate pats, and if Masao hadn't been busy restraining the villain she would have given her a big hug out of sheer gratitude. She did chime in with a quick "Wins a Win, loser!" in response to their victory being called dirty, but she was too busy being absolutely elated and fawning over her returned Quirk. And then too busy being on her very best behavior when it came time to explaining everything to the authorities, making sure to calm down enough to turn her Quirk off before her drawback could hit her. She considered trying to sneak off, but maybe - just maybe! - Masao still figured she was just a normal civilian?
The first thing she said to her in private dashed that, prompting a big "Ehhh?" as she looked up at the taller girl with big wide eyes and immediately started imagining getting hauled off to jail when Masao cut her fantasizing short by promising not to turn her in. This time, at least. "W-well, I appreciate it, Ando-san but..." Should she lie? If so, what kind of lie? Just insisting she was a civilian wouldn't work... And Masao was nice, and cool, and she didn't actually want to lie to her. Instead she brought one hand up to flash a peace sign and gave the hero student the most reassuring smile she could manage. "Don't worry, I'm not destructive at all and I really do work at a costume cafe. Can't blame a girl for defending herself, right?"
That was good enough, right? Not outright confirming or denying anything, but trying to reassure Masao and show some appreciation for the olive branch all the same? She wasn't sure where her newfound and hopefully still was friend stood on things like how to deal with corruption, but maybe one day Jingjing really could just retire and leave heroing to the heroes? Still reeling from being kicked in the chest, Jingjing couldn't feel more helpless. Masao's threat made her panic too, pushing the pain aside to push herself upright again and give a struggling cough to try and object and dissuade her from doing something that rash. Maybe other heroes or vigilantes could show up soon, and even if they didn't... what could Jingjing do without her Quirk even if Masao's armor was taken away from him?
"Ando-san, don't... eh?" She trailed off, tipping her head as the villain glanced around. She'd experienced it enough herself to recognize what it was in a heartbeat, getting to her feet and patting some dust off her shirt like she had simply tripped earlier. "Oh, you were showing us how to go crab fishing, weren't you?"
She gesture to the side of the wharf, the villain looking at her and muttering a confused "I was?" as he walked over to peer into the water - heavy armored footsteps making it creak beneath him. Glancing at Masao and making a little shove gesture with both hands, Jingjing circled slightly around and behind him. "Yup! Ready to show us? One, two, three!"
On three the villain started to turn to look at them to say something, but Jingjing threw herself at him with as much force as she could muster. Which wasn't a lot, but she had experience with shoving - normally with her head - and a lower center of gravity so she was hopeful she could knock him off the wharf with Masao's help. If everything went to plan he'd probably sink like a rock, and afterwards Jingjing would flop back down onto the ground out of exhaustion. Glancing at Masao, she'd give a sheepish smile and explain: "When he took my Quirk he got hit with a side effect instead of me, so that was actually kinda lucky!" Masao Ando,

Clearly Jingjing had struck a nerve, but more importantly Masao was fighting back again. "Yeah, get hi-" She started to cheer, only for the sword to bonk off a helmet that suddenly appeared. Then the tables turned very quickly, the henchmen keeping Jingjing just busy enough to prevent her from helping Masao. If she took a pipe to the leg she wouldn't be able to help much, so she had to prioritize blocking and scurrying around more or less helplessly while Masao got beat up. Blocking another pipe, a wave of fogginess prompted her to bring her hand up to her head - at a glance it probably looked like the repeated attacks to the head were starting to hurt, but that wasn't it.
"What does that even-" Jingjing started to reply, the sneak attack catching her entirely by surprise. The flames clung to her head, panicking out of reflex and trying to pat the fire out of her hair. She needed to help Masao, she needed to help everyone else that had fallen victim to this guy. What Jingjing valued most was being useful and for her that was symbolized by her Quirk more than anything other thing. Without it, she wasn't strong or fast or tough or smart. Just Jingjing. Then all of a sudden her horns and mane of white fluff disappeared, Jingjing losing her balance and falling on her butt in a stunned daze with wide eyed fear. Horns and a mane joined the villains stolen powers, sneering at them both.
Until now, Jingjing hadn't seemed terrified. Panicked, worried, and other things - but not sincerely afraid.
"Give it back!" She tried to scramble forward, only to get an armored kick that caught her in the chest and sent her tumbling back again. That hurt, more than she'd been hurt in a long time, the short girl reduced to wheezing coughs as she clutched at her chest. If it wasn't for the kick knocking the breath out of her she would have been repeating 'Ow ow ow' a lot, but she was certainly thinking it right now. Masao Ando,

Jingjing didn't know anything was wrong until Masao said her Quirk wasn't working, turning her attention away from the encroaching henchmen to give a big "Eh?!? It's not?" and making a mental note to definitely not let that weird face-fire get on her. Masao had a sword still, but if Jingjing couldn't use her Quirk she'd be completely useless in a fight. Glaring at the weirdo that showed up, Jingjing managed to ignore the impact of him leaping down to where they were on the wharf and instead threw out an accusatory finger. "Taking a Quirk is one thing, but stealing someone's ability to love is too far even for a villain!"
There was no way she was going to let him get away with doing that to someone as nice as Masao!
She didn't know who Freja Helt was, but they must have been a good friend of Masao's if they worked as bait to lure them here. She had no idea what the guy was rambling about to be honest. Ruler of Everything, a sob story about being made fun of as a kid, explaining what his Quirk did - why did bad guys do that so often anyways? - and something about riches and secret labs? The henchmen suddenly moving to attack snapped her out of her thoughts, ducking under a swipe and delivering a headbutt in return. The wharf and all the henchmen didn't give her a lot of room so she held her ground instead, blocking pipes and bats with her head and horns. "Don't worry, my head is really hard!" Jingjing called out as reassurance to Masao, twisting her head to hook a pipe and yank it out of the opponents hand and making them stumble.
Seeing her chance she rammed into them hard, bowling them into one of the other two mooks focused on her before turning her attention to the spiky-haired man and planting her hands on her hips before firmly declaring: "I don't care, you edgy loser!"
Where most people would try to sympathize, go on some philosophy tangent, or try to reason with the villain... Jingjing really didn't care! About any of that, and especially not about his weak excuse about being bullied as a kid or someone interested in her Quirk. She'd headbutt anyone who messed with her and her friends all the same. Instead, practically ignoring the villain for a moment, she called out to Masao with a thumbs up. "Don't worry Ando-san, this idiot just confirmed your friend is safe so we don't have to worry about any hostages or anything! Go stabby-stabby mode!"
