Adjusting the dark blueish-purple face mask covering her nose and mouth, Jingjing mentally corrected herself that it was apparently a shade of purple called Martinique. Which seemed like a whole heck of a harder thing to say than dark blueish-purple, but she was under cover and needed to make sure she could fit the character if she needed to! What character was that? Well, thanks to borrowing some of the outfit pieces at Random Cafe, she had fashioned for herself this whole punky gothy aesthetic as her vigilante outfit for the day. Big hat with her hair tucked into it to help hide her identity just that little bit more, spiked black collar around her neck, baggy sleeve-y things she was having a hard time keeping from getting in the way of her hands, zipper on her sleeveless jacket all the way up and a black belt cinched over the top around her waist. The whole look was completed by a pair of jeans and some sneakers, and as far as she was concerned she looked every bit the part of a punky goth girl that would wander around late in the evening in suspicious places. The reason she was dressed like this is she was investigating some really shady trafficking business going on in Shibuya. She didn't have any evidence of anything, not yet, but as far as she could tell it had something to do with the clubs and in Jingjing's mind that meant dressing up like a club goer and mingling around until she could sneak into areas she wasn't supposed to be in. Which is how she found herself going up quite a few flights of stairs to get to the upper floors of a club called 200 Degrees, the sounds of the club goers faintly audible from the lower floors. She was actually kind of impressed with her lucky timing so far, slipping her way past different service doors and routes when nobody was looking and aside from having to hike up all these stairs she had made it to what was presumably the owners residence. That alone wasn't all that weird, a lot of shops in Japan doubled as the owners homes by just building it right on top of the shop. What was odd though was that anyone would want to do that with a club that was loud all night long, but Jingjing supposed she couldn't judge too harshly there. Either way she had managed to scurry her way into the owners private quarters, the lights off just as she expected - the owner was out, which was why she was picking now to do some investigating. Closing the service door lightly behind her and pocketing the key she had borrowed from a break room, Jingjing rolled up her sleeves to get to searching for anything incriminating that could connect the club or the owner to the serial disappearances... and maybe a loose yen or two, if the owner turned out to actually be a bad guy. But only if! Mafdet Khepri

How careless. Khepri had heard the music from quite a distance away and followed their ears to this place, a club blasting tunes they vaguely recalled hearing before but clearer. They were only letting part of it out which probably meant it wasn't intentional. That happened sometimes with stuff. Like macaroni. Their microwave was still a bit discolored even now but that wasn't the point at the moment. Much like the microwave door after that moment there was a window several floors up that was a crack open, bringing Khepri right back to their original thought. How careless. They shook their head as they leaned one hand on the windowsill while closing it again with the other. Why, the music would just spill out and anyone could just walk in like that. They should probably let the owner know about that. They'd heard rumors one time while walking through an attic that there were suspicions of someone breaking into a place. Wasn't all too far from here either so the same intruder might just be in the area. Maybe even right here. Well, not right here here. Khepri themself was standing here and outside of some trains of thought on quantum physics that made it impossible for anyone else to be standing there. Where were they again? Right, Khepri remembered now. They needed to tell the owner something. Stepping through the unlit room it didn't take them long to run into the person in question -almost literally- and narrowly stop before bowling Jingjing over. Now they just had to say the thing. Standing right behind Jingjing they opened their mouth and began to speak. "Do you think Pavlov thought about feeding his dog when he heard a bell ring?"

Maybe it was the music and vague sounds of people from the lower floors, maybe it was some coincidence of acoustic design, or maybe Jingjing was too busy squinting into the dark to pay attention. Either way the question startled the disguised vigilante, tossing her hands up with a "AI...iii...e..." that was loud for a split second before she forced herself to be quit by bringing her hands down to clamp over her masked mouth. Twisting around one foot accidentally caught the ankle of the other and down she went.
If Khepri happened to intervene she'd stay on her feet, but otherwise she'd land on her butt with a muffled 'oof'. Either way, the sudden shock of someone speaking from right behind her had her heart pounding in her chest and her hat promptly popped off her head as a pair of large ram horns suddenly sprouted - along with a white 'mane' of sheep fluff around her neck.
Staring wide eyed at the stranger in the dark, Jingjing's she was trying to think of some excuse for why she was in here. Got lost looking for the bathroom? Was invited up here to meet with the owner? Try to pretend to be a robber and make a break for it? But before she could settle on one her brain finally processed what had actually been said, head tilting to the side. "There was a bell ring? I didn't hear one..." She didn't recall Pavlov being among the names she had looked into either, but maybe it was one of the guards? Who had a dog? And the comment was a vague, ominous threat about security being on their way? For a long moment she was quiet as her imagination conjured up a confrontation with a big burly bald Russian man that barely fit through door with an absolutely jacked monster of a dog with sharp teeth drooling all over the place. A guy like that could just grab her with their stupid better reach when she charged in for a headbutt and then she'd be a helpless chew toy for the dog! Plus she didn't like fighting animals since it made her feel bad... usually they didn't know any better, even a scary monster dog that could rip her apart! But then those day-nightmares vanished as she remembered she'd just been very rudely snuck up on, letting out a huff and putting her hands on her hips and grumbled: "You scared me half to death, what's the big idea sneaking up on me like that?"
Honestly, even if you were confronting an intruder you should at least have the decency to not scare them like that!

Half empty or full... Catching Jingjing before she goes down by grabbing her arm the catbug tried to help stabilize her once more. 'Oops, sorry,' Khepri said but only in their head, forgetting to say it out loud since their hands were busy. That was okay. What their hands were doing was more important right now. They didn't want the person they just met to fall after all. Khepri blinked in surprise when said person suddenly turned more fluffy before their gaze went up to her horns. "You have something in your hair.”
Attentively listening to Jingjing’s reply Khepri tilted their head. "Me neither. Maybe it was in the forest." That was pretty far from here so Khepri couldn’t check whether anyone was there. Maybe they could take a trip later to find out if the person in front of them was still interested by then. Most people didn’t seem to care as much about finding answers as Khepri themself did.
“There’s a lot of big ideas. Oh, is that why you turned into a sheep? Sleeping is sort of like being half dead but not really.” They nodded to themself. That was another riddle solved.
“Are you looking for something? I can help you find it! I’m good at finding things.” Sometimes what Khepri found was even the thing they were looking for.
...Is all perspective

Jingjing's eyes went up like she was trying to look up at her own horns when the stranger's did, momentarily wondering what could have gotten in her hair. Maybe a twig or a leaf or something? Jingjing tipped her head in confusion, hands coming up to pat at her hair in search of whatever was in it while she tried to parse what the stranger was talking about. A forest? Big ideas? Sleeping was like dying? Turning into a sheep? Right at that last thought it clicked, her Quirk had activated and the 'thing-in-her-hair' was her horns! And counting sheep was probably where the sleep thing came in, and she had said scared-half-to-death before transforming so...
Bringing her hands back down and giving a little nod to herself as she thought she'd decoded the strangers train of thought, Jingjing blinked with a quiet "Eh?" at the offer. One eyebrow going up skeptically, another thing clicked and Jingjing perked up with a more enthusiastic nod and lightly clapping her hands together. "Oh, that'd be nice of you..." She trailed off, not sure what to claim she was looking for. "Ahh... but I've also forgotten what it is, but I'm sure I'll know it when I see it?"
She couldn't think of a better claim to make than that, and in her defense she actually was pretty forgetful! Besides... the person who had caught her sneaking around didn't seem to like they were supposed to be here either. Or was really just odd. Giving a pleasant smile under her face mask, not realizing it couldn't be seen, she added a quick introduction as she turned her attention back to looking around for evidence of wrong doing. "I'm Lion by the way."

Khepri nodded in understanding. That happened a lot to them too. You go into a room to get something and then you completely forget what your were there for, search cabinets, dishwashers and washing machines to figure out what you were trying to find until you slip, look down and realize: 'Oh right, bandages for the rusty nail I stepped on.'
"Okay, I'll start on the left. I'll tell you what I find and you tell me what you find and we can piece it together."
Walking to the right side of the room they reached underneath a sofa and began to rummage around. With ears twitching in surprise they turned their head and tilted it in question.
"You're lying? Do you know what you're looking for or will you not know what it is when you see it?"
That was an important clarification. Depending on which it was their search would have to be adjusted accordingly. Khepri wasn't sure how but they were sure that they could think of something if they squinted hard enough. Pulling their hand out from beneath the sofa they pouted and stood back up.
"I only found baking soda. Not even enough of it to make a cake." Putting the small baggie down on the salon table in between a whiskey bottle and a glass pipe Khepri moved on to the cabinet.
"Oh, we forgot to introduce ourselves. I'm K- Sphinx," they corrected themselves. Technically speaking they weren't here as a civilian but as someone helping out like a hero so they should probably use their hero name. "What's your name?"
