BRASH + AGGRESSIVE + TERRITORIAL + IMPULSIVE The villain Manticora and the hero Blueshift are radically different people. Diego manifests two sides, an act and him being genuine, which fall on opposite sides of the morality spectrum. His persona as Manticora is a brash, somewhat simple brute. Manticora is someone who gets right to the point and likes to shoot first and ask questions later.
He hates being insulted and will attack anyone who offends him, especially if they come off as arrogant or as if they're above him. He thinks highly of himself and uses that assertion to threaten high-ranking villains and heroes without remorse. He'll openly mock those who come after him and isn't afraid to use violence to make them bend their knee. He never kills those aside from villains, as in his words, 'The weak don't get to decide anything, not even how they die.' in his eyes, your strength determines your worth.
While some of these traits bleed through to his real self, Blueshift or rather Diego simply does what he believes is right, even if it kills him. He is tougher on the outside than the inside, as anyone who knew him from his childhood will tell you in his ideal world; he is a low-key hero who protects things that are important to him.
He genuinely believes what he's doing is necessary, and more importantly, he knows what's on the line if he fails. Diego intends to change the world by being a focal point for heroes and villains to direct their energy towards, which will shield others he cares about from having to throw their lives away. He views justice as being biased and unfair, seeing it as people doing evil things to others they deem "evil" and getting praised for it, whereas taking a role as a true villain is unbiased and fair, affecting everyone the same way. He's haunted by the fact that he watched the most important person in his life die in front of him, and he was powerless to do anything about it.

HISTORY Whoever my parents were they were long gone by the time I was old enough even to ask myself that question. Growing up on the streets was never easy but I made some connections early and they took care of me until I was old enough to take care of myself. One by one they all went away either getting really sick, getting into trouble, or even getting adopted but I wasn't so lucky.
Maybe it's because I was stronger?
Being alone was awful though and I hated it. I cursed my powerlessness and that I couldn't change things for the better. That was until I met her.
She was my age, with green hair and green eyes. She stuck out like a sore thumb! Not that I was any better, but we became friends. She was like me. She was alone, so I figured if I had to be alone, it was better to be alone together. Wherever I went, she followed, and whenever she was in trouble, I'd come running. Heck, even when she was embarrassed by her quirk I thought it was cool. I can't tell you how many times it came in handy for us to get out of trouble. Things were easy like that, and I liked it.
Good things can't last forever, and when she mentioned wanting to have a real family, as much as I wanted to tell her to stay, I pushed her to go for it. Someone wanted to adopt her. I wouldn't dare try to get adopted by that same family but I managed to get my own family since they were close. It was good enough, and I was okay with that.
When Luci told me about her quirk and how she needed to die to unlock her full potential, I took a vow. I would protect her so she would never have to be afraid of dying. So when she got the idea of becoming a Pro Hero, I did the same, heck I always liked to fight, so why the hell not right? Plus, this way, I could make sure I'd keep my promise. We were absolutely crushing it, and I was gonna tell her everything.
Then I failed.
We were both in the field, and the whole thing is a blur. One moment, she was there, and the next, she was gone.
I don't remember much but I was taken off duty for a bit after that, had to spend time with the counselor. I couldn't face Luci after that, even when she came back like she said she would. Turns out I must have did something impressive while I blacked out because I was soon contacted by some officials in Japan who agreed to give me a hero license in exchange for enrolling in a special operation.
Anything to become stronger. Anything to make sure mi amor didn't get hurt again, I'd dive headfirst into the darkness. One day, when things were peaceful, I could tell her everything.
Lucille became a Pro Hero, even after everything, a Pro Hero in Japan. This makes things so much harder with us being so close, but I know I need to stay away. I have a job to do.
PRESENCE [GRAVITY CORE] Emitter/Mutation - A Gravity Core is split into two parts: an Emitter and a Mutation quirk. The mutation allows Diego to control his personal gravity freely, enabling them to perform various feats; such as levitating in midair, falling sideways, clinging onto walls and ceilings, using snapping his personal field to an object to simulate flight or move from point A to point B quickly. The second part, The Emitter portion, allows him to protect his field in the area around him. He can use this to increase the gravity in a specific area, causing everything to slam downward or even go the opposite direction to decrease the gravity enough to allow things that aren't fixed to the ground to float. The most potent part of this ability is that Diego can focus the force of gravity inwards on up to two individuals at once, decreasing their Speed by four ranks. This field has a light purple effect, and whether he's using it to debuff or not, he can purposefully make the area rumble with the force of his gravity. SUPER MOVESDRAWBACKSDiego can't force anything up using his ability to decrease gravity. When utilizing his quirk the items/people affected can still manipulate their bodies, meaning anyone with mid-air movement or the ability to anchor themselves won't be affected. The farther the range of influence he attempts with his quirk, the less effective it is, meaning anyone who can fight at a distance greatly reduces the effectiveness of his quirk. The gravitational downforce doesn't bypass what type of matter is being affected, and the bigger and more dense, the more energy and time required to force something down. Solids, Liquids, and gases aren't affected equally, meaning something solid is easier to weigh down or lift up, while gases aren't easily affected at all.
LIMIT BREAKS 3 available | 6/45 used | SKILLSWhat started as a simple brawling fighting style was refined, through training, to an actual skill worth praise. Infighting is a Chinese martial art; with the key points of infighting are the control of the enemy's angle of attack, i.e., to control and limit the ways or angles through which an opponent may find an opening in one's guard to counterattack or get past a block or guard. For the uninitiated, it looks like he's swinging and kicking wildly, but anyone with martial prowess would find there's a rhyme/reason for his actions. TBD |
