She truly had no idea why she was paired up with Zenkai either. In terms of getting into trouble, the two of them had to be one of, if not THE most cursed duo from school. Maybe the school just hadn’t noticed or they didn’t care. She was all for risking her life as a hero, that’s what the job was all about after all. However, her and Zen were just barely first year students. There was no way anything could have prepared her for this level of danger! Not even running with a street gang.

“Yeah.” She looked up at them as they shoved popcorn in their mouth. They really liked to snack, but she couldn’t blame them. If she was built like them she would probably need a lot more fuel to get going every day too. “Pretty intense, huh.” She stepped over a small dent in the road, bat in one hand as usual. “Oi.” She scowled up at him, but clearly in that way where he knew she wasn’t serious. “Are you sure it isn’t just you? You give off major Protagonist-kun energy.” She teased right back before continuing. “I’m simply a helpless damsel who gets dragged along for the scary ride. Woe is me.” She shrugged, making sure to sound extra dramatic. Normally she would never joke about being a damsel, not when she had so much to prove to the world, but she was comfortable making jokes like that with Zen. The part about being a shit listener got a laugh out of her.

“Want me to jinx us? What do you think the next thread will be? I bet it’s gonna be some giant scary sewer rat.” She blinked her eyes and looked up at them, grinning mischievously. “He’ll go for your popcorn first.”

Zenkai Hatake

Freja appreciated the sentiment, but she knew full well that while defending herself was allowed, it wasn’t exactly something that would put her at a good standing with the school administration. “E-Entirely truthful! We were caught by surprise, if you asked Farrin he would say the same thing!” There was a hint of desperation in her tone. She knew she was innocent and was ready to fight for her case if she had to.

“Really? Not even healing quirks are safe..” She couldn’t help but tense up a bit as she looked down at her leg, but she tried her best to regulate her muscles with deep, steady breaths to relax them. She smiled nervously but still closed her eyes and looked away as they began treating her leg. She wasn’t normally squeamish, but there was something about it being her own body that she would rather not look at. “I hate knives.” She blurted out. “I’m getting a suit of armor for my hero costume and it will be one hundred percent knifeproof.” While a suit of armor was an exaggeration, she really needed to take Leonid up on his advice and start thinking about getting a durable hero costume. “Do you think it will heal soon, sensei?”

Yanai Hebiru

Was she hearing him right? “Cars??” She cracked a smile and would have totally followed up on that if a giant phasing murder gator man wasn’t about to kill both of them. “You’re built different.” She simply concluded as she kept her attention focused on the ground. Scary as it was, at least their opponent’s quirk was predictable once you got over the terror factor.

She almost flinched and closed her eyes as she waited for lethal pain. She was so glad she didn’t though, or she would have missed most of the spectacle that was Temporal Smash. Talk about making a statement. She was so mesmerized by the sheer power in the attack that she even forgot to blink until Farrin hit the ground. “I’m.. fine.” She replied, still a little awestruck, before forcing herself up, bat in hand with a determined look on her face. If she had to, she was ready to bash that gator’s face in. Walking towards the tree line he had plowed through, however, she saw how injured he was. “I’ll be back for you.” The villain snarled weakly as his body slowly sunk into the ground. “And that boy too.” There was a palpable amount of disdain in the way he said boy. Farrin had gained a fan in Freja, but definitely not in this guy. It only dawned on her she hadn’t checked on Farrin after the fact. Rushing back as fast as she could she finally followed up on his question.

“A-Are you okay?” She tossed her bat aside and offered him the hand that wasn’t broken to help him up. “The villain left.” She was trying to sound reassuring but the adrenaline was still pumping through her. “That was crazy.” She exhaled and looked around at the carnage. “Temporal Smash.” She finally recalled seeing Farrin at Ultimate Training. Had he been working on a technique like this for that long? She was seriously going to fall behind if she didn’t up her game. “Sorry about that just now. I didn’t- I upset a gang of assassins, somehow?? I don’t remember, it’s a long story.” She pleaded with Farrin. She would totally understand if he stopped associating with her after all this. She was a liability as a friend, plain and simple.

Farrin

Did she scream? Of course she did. Sebastian appeared practically out of nowhere, just like he always did. Like some kind of nightmarish cryptid who had decided to haunt her just for the hell of it. Rolling away from him, Freja scrambled to get up into a sitting position. “Sleepy guy?! Or- I guess you’re Sebastian Sinclaire.” See! She was capable of remembering names. “How are you even seeing with that thing over your eyes?” She squinted at him. Was it his quirk? No, not everything could just be explained away with quirks.

“How is that an important question?” She huffed, already crossing her arms and talking like he had offended her. Then she remembered the yacht party. Wasn’t he heavily money motivated? “I’m gonna have to disappoint you.” She shrugged dejectedly, before giving a thumbs down. “Broke and looking for a job.” The truth was she had kind of been slacking off and wasn’t the best at planning out her economy, so the money she had been sent to Japan with had already dried up. “I guess my family is somewhat well-off.” She finally stood up, using her bat as support before dusting off her legs. “But they’re far away.” She put the bat up to rest on her shoulder. “Why? Are you rich?” Uno reverse, turn that question right back on him. Although she could probably already guess the answer. No rich man would go looking for rich women just for their money.
