Kana Suzuki, also known as, HelpImKelp or just Kelp, was a casual minecraft player, posting four to five build tutorials on YouTube per year. Starting in her seventh grade year, she could also be found frequenting hero forums and quirk discussion groups (her parents wouldn't let her get an account until she entered junior high). It was during her second year of high school that she met ZeePoet, an advent anime enjoyer who was posting about her goals to apply for a hero school in Japan. Kana, much more outgoing when behind a screen, had messaged Zee mentioning that she lived in Tokyo and would love to have a more in-depth conversation about their goals. Over the years, they have had quite a few voice calls, but mostly stuck with direct messaging during the times of day (or night) that they were both free. Now though, Kana was meeting Zee in-person for the first time, cherishing the news that they both got into UA! Additionally, she would be taking her friend for a tour around her home city of Tokyo. After double checking that her backpack had her water supply, first aid kit, sweater and wallet (among other things), the first year closed her dorm room behind her and made her way downstairs. Just before she exited the building, Kana sent a text to Zee.

Kana Suzuki walked out of the changing rooms and into the training ground in her newly made hero costume, eyebrows creased in thought. She was rather happy with the costume (for the most part), a olive green form-fitting suit with a white trim and salmon pink sleeves that went to her mid-form arm. The dark grey pants were less tight in order to include a variety of hide pockets, just like Kana had asked for. The first year was still debating whether or not to keep the pink steel toed boots when her watch buzzed in a reminder to drink. Just like her normal backpack, this outfit also included a hydration backpack of course, though this one was more durable and made to be able to withstand hits.
The young adult ran over to where the group of her classmates were standing once she had properly hydrated, just in time to hear Astraeus-sensei's speech. 'Okay, so the workouts are going to be extremely intense... . noted.' She was glad to hear the hero's reminder of intent, problems with current hero society rushing through her mind. The instructions seemed clear enough, the stakes rather high of course. A determined look settled on Kana's face, because as much as she was scarred.. well, she'd made it this far already. And like Leonid said, it was a learning opportunity.
'Though I do hope that whoever I get paired up with is kind at least.'

Kana Suzuki awoke at 5:00 to her phone's default alarm tone, to which she was about to hit the SNOOZE button when she remembered the date. Or rather, she remembered not the actual date, but what today was-- her first day at UA University, the number one hero school in Japan. Because as unbelievable as it was, the teal haired student had actually made it! Of course, she'd been preparing for the exams for over a year, technically more through her gymnastics team (and oh did she miss them,..) Still, it was a surprise and a half to find out she'd been accepted, and the following day had been filled with lots of crying-- the good kind, that is.
Now though, she rose out of her bed to take in the sight of her room. Barren expect for her carry on bag, a hiking pack complete with a normal water pouch for easy hydration and multiple filled water bottles. She'd already shipped her moved boxes to the campus, all four of the large storage units packed tight filled with her clothes, blankets, books, posters and more. Just as she was brushing her teeth, the smell of cooked salmon filled her senses. 'It seems breakfast is ready.'
About an half-hour later, after Kana kissed her mothers goodbye and promised to text often, leaving the apartment dressed in her new uniform, large backpack and all, she made her way to the Nerima City train station. She arrived at UA's large gates in good time, and quickly made her way over to the ID scanner. From there, everything was a bit of a blur, but she eventually found her way to the Heroics Department orientation.
Kana stayed quiet, deciding to avoid starting a conversation she probably would not be able to finish with the limited time. Sure enough, Pro Hero Leonid's voice rang across the crowd just minutes later. The lion quirked man started by introducing himself, then moved on to give a welcoming speech. The yellow eyed girl paid close attention, from the talk about U.A's motto to metaphors about smithing. It was a nice motivational speech, but also upped her anxiety a bit. 'Do I really deserve to be here?' As he wrapped up and called for questions, Kana's watch vibrated as a reminder for her to drink some water.
Tuning back into the conversation after a sip, she was slightly surprised to find that she had a quirkless classmate. 'They must have worked super hard to get here, discrimination is no joke. Another student with an accent asked about sparring, to which Leonid also answered. 'A combat instructor is great, maybe I'll be able to work on close combat more.' More questions were thrown around, a red-haired figure asking what was honestly, a very valid question. 'It is true that so many heroes now days only care about their rankings.. .' Kana was relieved to hear the instructors response, quite thankful that U.A was pushing students onto the right path.
All the sudden though, a chair was thrown at the hero, who caught it before roaring. Adrenaline pumped through her circulatory system all the sudden, fear crashing into her from the loud yell. Thankfully, it seemed to problem was sorted out quickly enough, with Leonid citing a quirk interaction issue. A dragon mutant student came running into the classroom, tripping then apologizing for his late attendance. Finally, it was time for the tour.
Kana once again decided against mingling, but if someone were to come up to her she would try to not be too awkward. [open]

Personality.
She tries her best to be outgoing and friendly, though she still feels most comfortable around her family and close friends. Kana is much more confident talking online / through text messages than having a conversation face to face. She enjoys reading, science class, hiking, cross country and gymnastics of course.

History.
Early childhood.
Kana only has faint memories of her Father, who was deemed unfit to raise a child by the system. She was adopted by her two loving mothers at age seven, all of them growing up to be a family over the years. Both her Mama and Mom supporting her in her dreams to be a hero, which Kana wanted to become in order to make a difference to the lives of those in less than fortunate situations.
Middle School.
Despite only having the mandatory control over her quirk required to graduate from quirk control lessons, she knows a lot about it through research and theorizing. That was when she decided to enroll in gymnastics at age 12 to further her goal of becoming a hero. It was through gymnastics that she met her first friend- an aspiring artist named Yuurin, who introduced her to the rest of the gymnastics team. Although it took some time for her to warm up to everyone, the group eventually became friends.
High School.
Continuing gymnastics, Kana and her team made it to second place in the Nerima City, Tokyo championships in the 10th grade. Her desire to become a hero only grew after Yuurin's dad was killed by a gang who mistook him for someone else. The group of friends sadly grew distance in their last years of high school as many of them withdrew from the team. Kana picked up a good training schedule by this time and was working out tri-weekly while tutoring middle schoolers in science for a bit of cash. She finished high school with advanced credits in biology, environmental science, mathematics, and history.

QUIRK DESCRIPTION:
The user can grow the aquatic plant known as Giant Kelp from their body and control it as if it were another limb. Growing the kelp requires water intake which is taken directly from her body's stores. After the kelp strand is grown, Kana is able to do many actions with them, including but not limited to the following used in her current fighting style:
> Forming a condensed fist surrounding her arm to enhance a direct punch. No stat changes happen. [Fist Form - Surrounding]
> Forming a condensed fist out of extended kelp. No stat changes happen. [First Form]
> Forming a rope out of extended kelp to immobilize enemies. No stat changes happen. [Reaching Rope]
> Grabbing onto a ledge of a building or another surface for further reach and mobility in parkour. No stat changes happen. [Name TBD]
> Surrounding (part of) her body in condensed kelp to protect from physical blows. No stat changes happen. [Algae Armor]
>> As long as the kelp is still rooted to the main body it stays functional and controllable, though after 4 hours of continuous use they fall off/dry up unless Kana is consciously pushing to extend the time, which will lead to severe drawbacks. With training, this limit can expand slightly.
>> The extended kelp limbs can grow as long as 35 feet and are most stable at the location of major joints. Kana can currently control 2 separately rooted kelp strands, as the concentration required is extensive to form shapes with them. Both limits can be improved with training.
QUIRK DRAWBACKS:
>> Kelp Control takes water stored in Kana's body and turns that directly into the controllable aquatic plant that makes up her quirk. If she pushes herself too much-- through making too much kelp or even keeping the same kelp limbs alive for more than 3 hours-- her body will suffer from dehydration which can in turn to lead to fainting. [In more serious cases, her quirk-induced dehydration can cause low blood volume shock and seizures]
>> Kana needs to passively hydrate more than most people even without the quirk active. The average adult without special quirk conditions needs to drink 9 (bio females) or 13 (bio males) cups of water. Due to her expanded circulatory system with more blood vessels, Kana must drink 15 cups of water as a base. The more controllable kelp she creates, the more water required.
>> The quirk is weak to dry, blistering hot weather, hot surfaces, and fire.
>> The quirk is also weak to bladed weapons.
Acrobatics. (ability)
SKILL RANK: B-
SKILL DESCRIPTION: This ability allows the user to use their body in different ways than the average person. Acrobatics can help the user to contort their body to avoid attacks, to move differently, or even to get into positions they would be unable to otherwise. Due to Kana taking competitive gymnastics for over six years, she's gotten quite good at it.

SKILL DESCRIPTION: A medium sized, black backpack with a tube that connects to a water storage bag in the main pouch of the backpack. There is another slot fitted for keeping a first aid kit and any other items Kana may later bring with her. The bag itself is created in a way to minimize the sound it makes in movement.
