Boy, the amount of stalling Mark had to do in order to maintain the status quo was annoying. Most people looked at his little project, the small kingdom he had carved out for himself, and then some academic had to come in and try and ruin it all. Hasani was attempting to reacquire all the equipment Mark needed to create and maintain traps in No Man's Land, and while an audit did make sense he didn't understand why they all had to be relocated back to the labs. The labs had bukus of calipers, scales, and vices, why couldn't he just be asked how much stuff he had out there? This was one of the reasons why he preferred working alone and outside established organizations. There were rules, regulations, and mountains of red tape that he could not handle nor tolerate. He spent years honing himself and learning how to best handle situations so he could operate with the best of the best, and he wasn't going to let some shmuck with a could of pieces of sheepskin tell him what he could and could not do. And so he marched on down to Hasani's office, opened up the door and gave him a hard look. "I realize that your responsibilities are vastly different than mine, but when your bullshit starts interfering with my job I'm going to assume you lack the knowledge and ability to understand how things are around here."Hasani Serna

THE JUDGEMENT HERO
Hasani was seated at his desk when Mark stormed in. He wasn’t the only one. A pair of first year students were in the process of submitting a design proposal for one of the courses they took with Hasani as the instructor. He didn’t even bother looking at the belligerent intruder as he ranted. The words he was giving life to had already been siphoned from his thoughts before they had been verbalized. Mark was, in every sense according to Hasani’s opinion, a waste of air.
“We’ll pick this back up in class tomorrow, but the concept is solid.”
Hasani rose from the chair and gestured for the students to do the same as they looked between the two faculty members. The freshmen scrambled to stand. “If you figure out what materials you want to design your prototype with tonight, email me before morning and I’ll see if I can ensure they’re ready for class.” He ushered them out the door as he spoke.
“Y-yes, Doctor,” one replied. “Excuse us, professor,” the other said to Mark. Then they were down the hall and away from the impending conflict. Hasani finally turned his gaze upon Mark. “Please. Have a seat.” Hasani motioned to one of the recently vacated chairs. His deep voice was perfectly pleasant and professional as he spoke, but his words carried an obvious edge to them as he added, “You seem the type that needs to sit when dealing with a reality check.”

Mark didn't care that other students were around to hear his inner monologue. Said inner monologue were typically thoughts like, It's called a firetruck, but it carries water...why? or Hannibal clearly had the opportunity to march on Rome after Cannae. Why didn't he? The Romans clearly stated they weren't going to surrender, so why not force their hand personally? Neither which made any sense to anyone. Which is why, whenever something pissed him off he made no effort to hide the fact he was pissed off. "The only check that's being made is the one your mouth is currently writing," Mark says, slipping his hands in his pockets. "If you wanted a count of all the equipment I'm using, all you had to do is ask. I have no problems handin' over a list of stuff that is currently being used in an effort to ensure an accurate audit. But blatantly appropriating it all, especially when we're in the middle of overhauling a section of No Man's Land due to safety issues is negligent. I don't care what titles you're slappin' on, you're standing in my way."Hasani Serna

THE JUDGEMENT HERO
“I see. I’m sorry I assumed you were intelligent enough to understand what an audit actually is without it being explained to you like you’re a child,” Hasani replied, still as smug as ever as he drifted back to his desk and leaned against the edge of it with a casualness that made it clear he wasn’t impressed with Mark’s grandstanding. Whether Mark cared about titles or not, it didn’t change the fact that Hasani was in charge of the situation and the proceedings, not Lone Wolf—and it wasn’t just because of the titles.
“Audits require the inventory to be returned and inspected by those in charge.” Hasani pointed to himself. “So that they can make sure that the people not in charge,” he paused to point at Lone Wolf now, “-are responsibly maintaining the inventory and properly filling out paperwork when it’s damaged or destroyed. This is in addition to the other reasons behind audits from the school that I neither have the time to explain to you or believe you are capable of understanding without some sort of educational materials. Like a picture book.” His voice maintained a sense of civility, but one undercut by how obviously condescending he was being. The smile dancing at the edges of his lips reinforced this.
“A list provided by you wouldn’t work because that would require me trusting you to not only be doing your job correctly, but staking my job on your competence, if such a thing exists. I don’t know you well enough at all to trust you with that privilege, and what I do know of you hasn’t inspired enough confidence for me to do something so irresponsible. The last Support Head may not have done his job correctly, but you’ll find I’m not him.
The audit will be conducted in full. You will comply as is your duty in this position as per the university’s regulations on such matters. And if you don’t, I will see sanctions brought against you. If you don’t like that, then I recommend you find a different line of work, Mr. Browning. With your particular skill set and disregard for the rules, might I suggest a carnie of some sort?”

Mark had encountered control freaks like Hasani in the past. Unfortunately, he could easily get away with his actions then due to the fact he could easily get things done by himself and without departments or the feds getting involved. While he had no use of lawyers, they played a role in society. Hero work wasn't one of them, and what Hasani was doing neatly aligned with lawyer work. "I imagine you can recommend a few gigs, given how you look the part," he says, making the comparison to a clown in his head. "I imagine the ring master got sick of your shit and threw you out. Either that or you made too many children cry. Both are believable." He took a few steps in, resting his hands on the back of a chair. "Considering you're ignoring the fact I've told you there's safety concerns, and considering the fact you're worried about 'competence', then I'll make you a deal. You can come out and inspect the equipment for your little audit, cross your T's and dot your eyes, but said equipment has to remain where it's at. And before you get all up in arms, lemme explain: that equipment was browed when there was no No Man's Land. There were a few dings and scrapes in that part of Ground Beta, but nothing too extreme. As of right now, an entire portion of it is torn up as I've been running two to three simulations a day for my classes. Not factoring in the central building on the verge of collapse, the place is rigged with all kinds of traps that could cause the equipment to be damaged if we move it."Mark gave a smile, clearly sarcastic. "It'd be a shame if a lathe got damaged, or a vice was lost if something went off near any of it. I'd certainly be unhappy, as I took on the responsibility to ensure the upkeep on all of it when it was lent to me in the first place. I'd be even unhappier if someone was severely injured on my watch, given it is my training field." Hasani Serna,
