“Then maybe you should consider a different major, Hada-san,” Hasani said, finishing the sentence Ana had been in the middle of speaking aloud. He had been silent up until then, not just watching and visually evaluating each student, but skimming the thoughts from their forefronts of their minds in between each nod of greeting to those that had addressed him before finding their seats.
Kei wasn’t the only nervous one, but he had been coerced into speaking his worries out loud by someone less concerned than him and though he had been quiet in his admission, there was no escaping the net of Hasani’s telepathic sweep. Not that anyone knew that’s what had happened. For all they knew, he just had really good hearing.
“It’s my understanding that the Support Department program has been a little lax. At least by my standards. That will be changing from this moment on. I will not make choosing this major an easy path for any of you. It will challenge you and push you to limits you didn’t realize existed.”
He paused to let those words sink in. “I don’t do this because I’m a sadist.” That was somewhat of a lie. “Or for my own amusement.” That part was true. He did it for his success. Hasani walked around his desk and spread his arms out in a gesture to encompass the entire room.
“I promise it will be difficult because I want to help shape you into the finest inventors of your time.” He lowered his arms and fixed Kei in the crosshairs of his dark stare. “If that is something any of you don’t want, or something you don’t think you can handle, then there’s the door. I’ll file your transfer paperwork to whatever department you think will be easier. Which is all of them. Even the Hero students with their apocalyptic powers and even larger egos will be in awe of what each and every one of you are capable of by the time I’m done with you.” He freed Kei and shifted his gaze across the room to all of them individually for a second or two.
“So who is dedicated enough to stay and put in the work?”

“I see. I’m sorry I assumed you were intelligent enough to understand what an audit actually is without it being explained to you like you’re a child,” Hasani replied, still as smug as ever as he drifted back to his desk and leaned against the edge of it with a casualness that made it clear he wasn’t impressed with Mark’s grandstanding. Whether Mark cared about titles or not, it didn’t change the fact that Hasani was in charge of the situation and the proceedings, not Lone Wolf—and it wasn’t just because of the titles.
“Audits require the inventory to be returned and inspected by those in charge.” Hasani pointed to himself. “So that they can make sure that the people not in charge,” he paused to point at Lone Wolf now, “-are responsibly maintaining the inventory and properly filling out paperwork when it’s damaged or destroyed. This is in addition to the other reasons behind audits from the school that I neither have the time to explain to you or believe you are capable of understanding without some sort of educational materials. Like a picture book.” His voice maintained a sense of civility, but one undercut by how obviously condescending he was being. The smile dancing at the edges of his lips reinforced this.
“A list provided by you wouldn’t work because that would require me trusting you to not only be doing your job correctly, but staking my job on your competence, if such a thing exists. I don’t know you well enough at all to trust you with that privilege, and what I do know of you hasn’t inspired enough confidence for me to do something so irresponsible. The last Support Head may not have done his job correctly, but you’ll find I’m not him.
The audit will be conducted in full. You will comply as is your duty in this position as per the university’s regulations on such matters. And if you don’t, I will see sanctions brought against you. If you don’t like that, then I recommend you find a different line of work, Mr. Browning. With your particular skill set and disregard for the rules, might I suggest a carnie of some sort?”

THE JUDGEMENT HERO
Once the door had been opened, even the inhibitor couldn’t prevent the forefront of Zipper’s thoughts from rolling off of her mind and into Hasani’s as soon as they formed. He respected ambition. The drive. The willingness to use what, and who, she had at her disposal to reach her end goals. After all, Hasani had done the same to get where he was now. Only he was far more ruthless and cunning in his methods—a perk of his Quirk that enabled him to know how best to get away with such things.
Respect for someone else on the grind wasn’t enough to move Hasani toward agreement. There were only three things that motivated the man. Success, money, and a third thing that Zipper was absolutely useless for considering the vast array of rumors about her recent antics around the campus. It was also unlikely that she could offer him enough money to make his efforts worth his while either. Success, however, was something she could aid in, even if not directly.
Kei was one of the many bright students in the Support Department. Unfortunately for him, his own success was hindered by the lack of a spine. Were he truly to be a useful wellspring of ideas for Hasani to leech from, then he needed more confidence. If he was the client lurking in Zipper’s thoughts, her success meant future success for Hasani. Plus, she might have a few bright ideas of her own for him to steal.
“Well, Ito-san,” Hasani started. He wasn’t going to demean himself by referring to a student by what sounded like nothing more than a casual nickname. That might be fine for unprofessional idiots like Lone Wolf, but Hasani considered himself above such things and, well, most things in general. “You are certainly welcome to sign up for any elective the Support Department offers provided that it fits with your current class schedule.” He opened a drawer and extracted a sheet of paper after a few seconds of rifling, then slid it across his desk in her direction.
“If you’re looking to take one specifically regarding Hero Costumes and is also one that I personally teach, I hold Functional Fashion classes every Tuesday and Thursday. This is the current syllabus. You would have some catching up to do as they’re already working on a project for this semester.”
He leaned back in his chair and gave her a once over with his eyes and mind. “Do you happen to have any previous experience with either fashion or support gear?” The answer would determine just how much work Hasani would have to put in, and if the reward didn’t eventually outweigh the effort, he could always pawn her off on another student to act as her mentor.

THE JUDGEMENT HERO
“Yeah, sure. Whatever you want, sweetheart,” absentmindedly replied to whatever flavor-of-the-week model he was hooking up with that day when she asked if he would buy some designer dress for her from a store so pricey and high end, that it didn’t even have a sign out front. He used them for their bodies, they used him for his money. It was a symbiotic relationship until one of them, usually Hasani, got bored. Which Hasani was very close to being already. This one was particularly air-headed, which meant that while her thoughts didn’t give him a headache, but spending any time outside of a bed with her did.
“Put whatever she wants on my tab,” Hasani told the clerk. Then to his date for the day, “I need to step outside and take a call.” She nodded, but didn’t seem to care too much as she busied herself with looking through the wares and hassling the clerk now that she had been given free reign over the store.
Hasani took a deep breath when he exited the building. He didn’t need to make a call at all. He just needed to get away for a moment. The thoughts cleared from his head before more transient ones from passersby took their place.
I need a smoke.
It was the only one of his own thoughts that surfaced high enough to register above the collective. He started to reach into his blazer pocket to pull out a pack of cigarettes and his lighter when someone started shouting in his general direction. The angry tone meant it probably wasn’t a fan. The masculine voice meant Hasani didn’t care. At least not until he realized he was being yelled at in Arabic and the man was accusing him of fucking his wife.
Which was fair. Hasani had cucked over a lot of sad boyfriends and husbands. Most unwilling. The only problem was, Hasani had never seen the woman the man was with in his life and the collective of thoughts from the surrounding area was too loud for Hasani to parse that Rhea was not, in fact, his wife, but his daughter. Not without getting closer, and Hasani had a personal philosophy of not getting closer to people that probably wanted to hit him. Especially when he was about to taunt them.
“I didn’t touch your wife,” he called back in Arabic. Then he smirked and added, “But I can if she wants to know what a real man is like.” Of course, because Hasani was a dick, he couldn’t leave well enough alone. Rhea and her father would each hear a different thought played out in their own personal inner voice. For Rhea, it was one laden with the emotion of lust, I wouldn’t mind… And for her father, one of resignation, I’m really not man enough compared to him, not with this cane.

THE JUDGEMENT HERO
Women were quite often headaches for Hasani. Usually through some fault of his own, but that was neither here nor there. This particular headache came from his mind grazing against the interest Hebiru felt toward him. A researcher with a twisted mind more convoluted than the hive-minded individuals he had encountered in the past was trouble. He made a note to avoid her in the future as a counterpoint to the indecipherable not she had made to do quite the opposite.
The other women were more tolerable in their thoughts. Expected. Mundane. An intoxicated lush, the naive virtuous maiden, and the well-meaning but envious woman. The former sought to put him to work. His previous once over had already eliminated her from the category of Hasani’s preferred type. The eye patch meant physical imperfection. Unacceptable by his high aesthetic standards.
“Sorry, sweetheart. I’m a top shelf only kind of guy and my hands are full.”
He pulled his hands free of his pockets. A lighter was in one hand and a pack of cigarettes occupied the other. May was on her own for arranging shots. Hasani at least had the courtesy to take a step or several from the group before lighting up. He had read enough complaints from various minds over the years about being near a smoker that he preferred to just mitigate them before they started these days.
As always, his actions while seeming well-mannered were from a source of selfishness. It might be amusing for him later to point out that the stick-in-the-mud with her holier-than-thou thoughts wasn’t so far off from being the same if she ever decided to voice her currently unspoken grievances. The way she wanted to be seen dictated her actions from what Hasani could glean. It was hardly any different from himself. He doubted she was the type to take that news well. So it stayed in his proverbial back pocket now.
The last woman was less offensive to Hasani’s sensibilities. Envy of his gifts was something he could appreciate. He took a deep draw of his cigarette as he pretended to muse over the question. “Hmmm. Happy,” he answered her question simply, though let the word linger to indicate a pause as if he was trying to parse more information out through a refined application of what he claimed his Quirk to be. He had to keep up appearances after all. “Though there’s something a little sharper beneath that. Is something troubling you, Counselor?” Hasani used the title he had heard Hebiru address her by when he had first stumbled upon the barbecue—the host of which Hasani was content to ignore for the time being. And by ignore, Hasani was actively scheming on how to do the exact opposite of what Mark intended by his declaration.

THE JUDGEMENT HERO
Hasani was seated at his desk when Mark stormed in. He wasn’t the only one. A pair of first year students were in the process of submitting a design proposal for one of the courses they took with Hasani as the instructor. He didn’t even bother looking at the belligerent intruder as he ranted. The words he was giving life to had already been siphoned from his thoughts before they had been verbalized. Mark was, in every sense according to Hasani’s opinion, a waste of air.
“We’ll pick this back up in class tomorrow, but the concept is solid.”
Hasani rose from the chair and gestured for the students to do the same as they looked between the two faculty members. The freshmen scrambled to stand. “If you figure out what materials you want to design your prototype with tonight, email me before morning and I’ll see if I can ensure they’re ready for class.” He ushered them out the door as he spoke.
“Y-yes, Doctor,” one replied. “Excuse us, professor,” the other said to Mark. Then they were down the hall and away from the impending conflict. Hasani finally turned his gaze upon Mark. “Please. Have a seat.” Hasani motioned to one of the recently vacated chairs. His deep voice was perfectly pleasant and professional as he spoke, but his words carried an obvious edge to them as he added, “You seem the type that needs to sit when dealing with a reality check.”

THE JUDGEMENT HERO
Office hours were an unfortunate requirement of Hasani’s new position. His were notably shorter than those of most other professors. He used his more varied and intensive role of not just instructor, but department head, as his reasoning for the more limited availability. In fairness, he was busying himself with those responsibilities. When the trio of knocks emanated from his door, he was already an hour deep into scheming how to make Lone Wolf’s existence miserable solely for his own amusement—and because he was just a touch territorial.
A long tongue snaked out past his lips and dragged across the top one. The intent wasn’t a lick, but to press the control button on the bottom of his lingual inhibitor to turn it off. His Quirk couldn’t reach past his own door with it turned on and Hasani wasn’t one for surprises. Thoughts not his own surged into his mind from across the school—at least the area that fell within the range of his domain, and quite a domain it was. Hasani had to focus intensely to narrow the scope to the closest person. In this case, it was the one responsible for the knocks.
The need for aid shined clear in her mind. A student then. Hasani repeated the motion with his tongue to reinstate Seshat’s filter. Silence returned. For the moment. It was on the verge of shattering whenever the door might open after he called out, “Come in,” to the girl beyond the threshold.

THE JUDGEMENT HERO
Mid-term staff changes were unusual things at universities—Hasani would know. He had become something of a professional student for several years in pursuit of multiple degrees simply for his ego and the fact he had the money and mind-reading abilities to do so with relative ease. Rather than subject himself to answering dozens of inquiry emails from the students over the sudden shift in class structure, syllabus, and his very presence, Hasani planned to address the entire student body of the Support Department at once. What better way to do so than through one of his new classes?
Think Tank.
A simple concept to break down barriers between the Support Department students by gathering them in one place to encourage networking and creativity through connection and competition. It just happened to also make it easier for Hasani to filch promising ideas right out of their little heads. If he could sift through their post-pubescent mess of hormones that alternated between stupid, anxious, and horny thoughts like someone channeling surfing through late night television.
Every student with a major that fell under the purview of the Support Department received their updated course list indicating when and where the first Think Tank class would be held. Come Friday morning, Hasani stood in the auditorium sized lecture hall waiting for students to arrive for roll call. Because of the large and ambitious nature of such a class, it blocked out the entire morning from the hours of 8am to noon. Hasani looked both alert and immaculate in one of his custom luxury suits despite the early hour—and the long vice filled night that had led up to it.

Depending on interest and engagement, it will either just be these introductions or it will also include an in-class group project to act as a nonthreatening mission when it is completed. Future Think Tank threads will be more of these group project focused in general. I will be posting about once a week on my end. THE JUDGEMENT HERO
“Perhaps your struggle is a sign that you should leave simulations to the actual professionals,” a deep voice interjected from the doorway of the back entrance Mark had selected for his quaint attempt at a gathering. Another of the university’s recently hired faculty leaned against the frame belonging to the door he had just opened on the unexpected scene before him. In spite of potentially incendiary words, his stance was casual, one leg crossed over the other and hands sheathed in the pockets of designer slacks for one of his airy summer suits that cost more than the entire barbecue setup thrice over. Grill and host included.
“Dr. Hasani Serna,” he added before the thoughts of who from those present could fill his mind. “The new head of UAU’s Support Department.” His eyes had been drifting across the women present before zeroing in on Mark and narrowing as he added, “And the Hero Course simulation coordinator.” It was an introduction that declared himself as the aforementioned professional. “I’ll add this to the list of areas that need to be refined in the wake of my predecessor’s departure.” It was a long list. Hasani disliked work, but he liked being in charge. Which is why he was at the office outside of normal work hours in the first place.

Hasani is a prideful man with an eye for beauty and a mouth for everything else. Flattery and blackmail have gotten him everywhere his other mind-reading manipulations haven't. He rarely uses his smooth-talking ways or grifter methods for good—or for anything besides himself. Corrupt as they come in the pursuit of his own glory and pleasure, Hasani shows no signs of changing his malicious ways. [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]A P P E A R A N C E HEIGHT: 6'3'' WEIGHT: 192lbs EYE COLOR: Topaz HAIR COLOR: Golden (Dyed) | Obsidian (Natural) SKIN COLOR: Fawn IDENTIFIERS: Tongue PiercingFACE & VOICE CLAIM NAME & SERIES: Hirako Shinji, Bleach Everyone loves a sharp dressed man and no one dresses sharper than Hasani Serna. He accentuates his tall muscular frame with designer clothes, sleek suits, and expensive accessories. Hasani also opts for these same types of garments to act as his Hero costume during his rare stints in the field. His wardrobe consists mainly of colors that intentionally contrast or compliment his skin tone which has been lightened by mixed heritage and preference for nightlife activities over those carried out beneath the sun. Hair once darker than his favored nightlife has been bleached to a golden blonde and cut into an angular bob to frame his strong jawline, pointed chin, and topaz eyes. [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]H I S T O R Y Hasani might be a more empathetic character if he had climbed his way up the proverbial ladder in a rags-to-riches story. Alas, that simply isn't the case. Born to old money and a family with a penchant to claiming both Egyptian pharaohs and Spanish queens as ancestors, luxury and lying are formative cornerstones of both the man and his history. As was being told how special and unique he was as the only child of aging blue-bloods split by bitter divorce. Hasani spent his youth bouncing back and forth between Egypt and Spain, each of his parents vying for his love and affection with grand gifts that culminated in a fledgling fortune due in no small part to Hasani using his Quirk to manipulate events. A Quirk he passed off as something else entirely to help perpetuate his Machiavellian schemes. Much like his aforementioned personal gift, Hasani didn't squander his wealth. He used it to put himself through university—multiple times over in drastically short periods. There was no reason not to pursue academia to such a degree and show off while doing it as he was always the smartest person in any room he stepped into. At least once he pinpointed the best sources of knowledge in said room. He acquired various degrees in art, fashion, business, philosophy, psychology, law, and even engineering through this method. At least one of these is a doctorate. Hasani pushed through the coursework required solely so people would have to refer to him as Dr. Hasani Serna. Respect and awe have always been things Hasani pursued, so the same practice was employed when Hasani began to crave greater success and fame through the flourishing Hero industry. After all, how did one compete with someone that saw your every move before you even acted? Hasani graduated at the top of his class in Heroics despite entering so late and supposedly only having an empathy Quirk and even though he had begun to truly make a name for himself, he decided to leave Egypt to avoid suspicions about his meteoric rise in multiple fields. Using what money he had left, Hasani established Obelisk Designs to explore his love of fashion and find a new avenue of recognition through creating unique support gear in the form of custom Hero costumes. UAU approached him to fill an abdicated position as Head of the Support Department after his company began to gain fame of its own in Japan. He accepted. There were few better places to scout for talented individuals to build up his company—or to steal ideas to claim as his own. [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]Q U I R K QUIRK NAME: Scales of Justice (False) | Eye of Horus (True) QUIRK RANK: B- QUIRK TYPE: Mutation / Emitter QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Hasani's Quirk has been passed off as an empathy Quirk since it was discovered. As far as people know, he can simply tell how anyone is feeling and weigh their heart's intention. At most, it makes him a good lie detector and able to better navigate social situations. He's as good as Quirkless when it comes to being a Hero. As with many things in Hasani's life, this is a lie. His true ability is this: Hasani is a telepath with a mind mutated to process sensory information faster than normal. He can read minds, see what people are experiencing through their own senses, and send messages to them through his mind alone over a large area. These messages sound like they are the person's own internal voice and not Hasani's. This Quirk replaces AWARENESS by using the senses of everyone around Hasani to increase the information he is able to gather about his opponents and surroundings past what one person could take in alone. QUIRK DRAWBACKS: This Quirk isn't offensive or defensive inherently. Additionally, he gets overwhelmed near large groups of people if he isn't using his inhibitor support gear to decrease range and depth of information taken in. He can deep dive into one mind at a time if he turns off the inhibitor, but only if the other player consents OOCly. Otherwise, the information taken in is what is at the forefront of a character's mind. When the inhibitor is active, Hasani's ability is completely blocked if a target is in a different room than him. When the inhibitor is off, this is not the case unless they are several rooms away. Hasani is also weak to other psychic type abilities because his mind is already open for both input and output by his own Quirk. [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]S K I L L S SKILL NAME: Backstab [Fighting Style] SKILL RANK: D- SKILL DESCRIPTION: Hasani would rather talk or scheme his way out of a fight, or better yet, get someone else to fight his battles for him. However, he isn't above getting in his cheap shots and sucker punches how he can when pressed or to gain the upper hand of a situation before it goes south. Being able to read minds is very helpful for this. His personal preference of combat involves bladed weapons. He has a dedicated sword and several small knives strapped on his person for such times. SKILL NAME: (Con) Artist [Manufacturing] SKILL RANK: C- SKILL DESCRIPTION: The epitome of fake it till you make it. Hasani has plagiarized his way through the tech industry so well that it was impossible for some of the tricks not to stick. Maybe even enough to prove himself if his skills are ever put under greater scrutiny. He primarily uses this in conjunction with his artistic genius to design elaborate Hero costumes.
