Finally the weekend was here. For once she wasn't going to try to get out of bed early. Even if she was behind most of her classmates, training on the weekends just felt wrong. Like, wasn't that meant to be precious time they could spend on resting and catching up on shows? She turned over in her bed, poking her plushie before letting out a yawn. Wait... Hadn't she made plans to go get snacks with Khepri? ...Hero life was so exhausting. Getting out of bed she brushed her hair, washed her face and brushed her teeth and got dressed. All ready for a new day. Grabbing her last pack of cigarettes she looked inside and frowned. She was running low on smokes too. She considered yelling to her roommate that she was going out, but knowing the sleepyhead there was a chance that it wouldn't wake her up anyway. ''That idiot, always sleeping in.'' She grumbled to herself as she wrote a post-it note and left it on the breakfast table. She would have totally slept in if she could too, but plans with Khepri were more important than staying in bed all day. She scowled up at the Sun as soon as she stepped outside, turning around as she fished out a cigarette. ''Fuck off. Why are you always so bright?'' She muttered to herself, putting the cigarette in her mouth before texting Khepri. ''I'm up, where are you?''She would wait around until her friend arrived and light the cigarette once they started walking. ''Any plans for the weekend?'' She yawned, still in the process of waking up. Thankfully Khepri was really good at talking and she didn't mind just listening to them. As they walked along the paths of the UAU campus they were headed for a convenience store just outside of school grounds. What weird encounters awaited them today? Luna de Lune, Mafdet Khepri

Hearing their phone vibrate Khepri pulled it out of their pocket and read Yoko's text. "I'm here too," they responded from just behind Yoko. It hadn't occurred to them to say anything sooner, they'd been far too busy dodging the door when it opened and contemplating Yoko's first question. They temporarily put that aside though when a second was asked. "No, I think it'll just be on Saturday and Sunday again."It was very rare that there were different plans for the weekend. Occasionally there was a 'long weekend' that included Friday as well but Khepri had yet to figure out how that worked. Once upon a time they thought they knew and had attached stilts to their shoes to be Long Khepri but apparently they'd gotten some of the semantics wrong. That happened sometimes. They still weren't entirely certain about the answer to Yoko's first question either. It had something to do with nuclear fusion and the planet's atmosphere but they were missing some pieces in their train of thought so the engine had left some crucial train cars behind. "It’s weird to think that nighttime is the natural state of the universe and daytime is only caused by a nearby radiating ball of fire, right?"

[nospaces] [attr="class","sidebar"] [attr="class","icon"] [attr="class","text-area"]Luna was incredibly excited for the weekend. It meant she didn't have to do absolutely anything at all that she didn't want to. And that was absolutely perfect for her, she was content to just sit back and soak in the suns rays and enjoy everything that nature had to offer today in one of her new favorite napping spots. [break][break]
Letting out a long sigh, Luna would slowly lay back, looking up at the sun as she closed her eyes. "Ahh, now this is the life." She would mumble to herself, relaxing. A few of her clouds gently nudged her sides, as if they were cuddling up close themselves. Nothing could ruin this day. [break][break]
Except for maybe getting a sunburn, but she could always just have a cloud roll her over. Or, perhaps more importantly falling off the rooftop she was sleeping atop of.[break][break]
It was a smaller building, only two stories tall, but the roof shingles were nice and warm and it was pretty hard to resist. She let out a soft yawn, casually listening to the conversations of all that passed until she fell asleep only just minutes later. Everything would have been flawless, if it wasn't for the wind ever so slowly picking up and moving her blanket.[break][break]
As soon as it left her body, Luna sat up with a start, watching the wind swiftly carry it down to the ground. Except, it didn't just fall flat, it got carried a bit further, as if aiming directly for the two people walking across the paths. "Aww shucks." She mumbled, slowly crawling down to the edge of the rooftop. She peeked down over the edge, her fingers gripping tightly. "My blanket... Not again." [break][break]
"One of you should be holding onto it!" She spoke directly to her clouds, who all just seemed to frown softly as she did. With a sigh, she'd stretch out a hand as if to try and somehow grab it from a few stories up. She couldn't reach that far. A shame. She should get extendo-grabby hands. Sure, her clouds could maybe grab it, but that was boring. [break][break]
This high up she didn't bother yelling down to talk to them. Asking them to toss it back up wasn't really reasonable, so she did the only thing she could think to do. She had to go get it, maybe find a less windy sleeping spot afterwards. Luna crawled forwards slowly, until she tumbled straight off the rooftop. Landing face-down with a thump on the ground atop a large cloud. [break][break]
And then promptly didn't move. She needed at least 15 seconds to regain her energy before she even thought about standing. [break][break]

She jumped when Khepri snuck up behind her. ''Th-There you are.'' She tried to play it cool, but it was hard to pretend she hadn't been spooked. ''How did you even do that?'' She damn near spat out one of her last cigarettes. Oh well. ''Let's go.'' She let her closed umbrella rest on her shoulder as she lit her cigarette. ''On Saturday and Sunday, huh?'' She replied like she understood exactly what they were on about, even if she had no clue how they had interpreted her question. It was just the way she had learned to communicate with Khepri sometimes. Blowing out smoke she looked up at the sky. It was a pretty decent weather today, if not a little too windy for her liking. What Khepri said next about the Sun actually caused Yoko to pause for a moment and ponder their question. ''...Right. Is that the sort of thing you think about on a regular basis?'' Here she was just thinking about what snacks to buy. ''I think I'd go crazy if I thought about all that existential crap all day.'' She looked back up at the sky when she noticed something flying towards them. ''Khepri, blanket incoming.'' If her friend didn't do anything to catch it, Yoko would try to reach it with the tip of her umbrella. ''How in the hell?'' She muttered to herself as she inspected the blanket. Sure enough, it was just a regular blanket, probably not conjured up by a quirk. ...Hey was that a person on a rooftop? ''Look.'' Yoko pointed at Luna and whatever it was that she was doing, all until the sleepyhead went and fell over the edge. ''Oi!!'' She quickly put out her cigarette and stashed it away in her portable ashtray before rushing over to Luna's side. It seemed like something had cushioned her landing, but her lack of movement was enough to send Yoko into high alert. ''Hey dumbass! Are you all right?'' She reached out to shake Luna's shoulder, before looking at the cloud in confusion. ''That's weird, it doesn't normally manifest like that.'' She looked over at Khepri. ''Khepri, gimme a hand!'' She encouraged them to help her drag Luna up into a sitting position. Luna de Lune, Mafdet Khepri

"When the air went through my vocal cords they vibrated and I shaped that into speech," Khepri answered what they assumed was the question. As they walked along they nodded their head in confirmation. Unless they'd misremembered those were the two days. "Yeah, I'm Khepri."
To them that explanation made complete sense. In Egyptian mythology Khepri represented the rising and moving of the morning sun. The deity that brought it back to the waking world once it finished its nightly trip through the underworld. "I don't think you would," they disagreed. There was no way Yoko would go crazy from something like that. Khepri would know. "Huh, blanket?" Was Yoko seeing things after all? All of a sudden Khepri wasn't. "Is it the natural state of the universe already?"
That didn't make any sense. Unless their phone was wrong that should be hours from now! Only when Yoko managed to grab the blanket fully did Khepri realize their mistake. They joined in on inspecting it just long enough for them to fail to notice the figure until she was falling. Following Yoko's finger their eyes widened. They froze. Their pupils shook as they watched the blonde girl fall in slow motion. It didn't take any fancy calculations to see they wouldn't make it in time to catch her. They'd noticed too late. Khepri stood frozen in place as she tumbled to the ground and laid motionless. Maybe they were the one that was just seeing things? Something like this right in the middle of campus, that didn't happen. Right? "G-got it!" They shouted back just a bit too loudly before snapping into action. Quite literally leaping into the fray they skidded the last half a meter to slide to a stop next to the... cloud? Wait, was it mist when it was on the ground? Maybe fog? Extending their arm Khepri would try to put a hand on Luna's shoulder if she'd allow it and attempt to help her up, acting more on Yoko's orders than with any amount of thought put into her actions. With just as much thinking involved Khepri's mouth moved too. "How's your forehead?"

[nospaces] [attr="class","sidebar"] [attr="class","icon"] [attr="class","text-area"]Luna really wasn't expecting all the attention when the duo came rushing up over towards her. Although, she probably could have gone without being called a dumbass. Then again, from an outside observer she probably looked like one.[break][break]
She was limp like noodles as she was lifted up to her feet, groaning softly. Not out of pain, but slight annoyance. She wasn't ready to move yet! Even still, she couldn't allow these two to worry about her for that much longer. She'd feel a bit bad about it. [break][break]
"No no, 'm okay. I'm okay." She'd mumble, properly putting weight onto her own feet as she straightened up. Her eyes would slowly scan over her would be saviors, a very tired expression on her face. Although, that was pretty much a constant. "Jus' came down for my blanket, that's all." [break][break]
Suddenly, the large cloud that she had fell onto began floating upwards and spinning around until the face was revealed. Their eyes were black and beady, almost like a living cartoon. A smile would spread across its fluffy face, before suddenly dissolving into a little swarm of clouds. A bunch of tiny clouds that immediately swarmed across Luna, clinging to her hair and pajamas as if it was the most casual thing in the world. [break][break]
For her part, Luna had a bit of a sheepish smile on her face, and the clouds seemed to mimic it. "I'm sorry for startling you both. A little rude of-" Her words were once again paused by a long yet quiet yawn for a moment. "Rude of me to do that to in front of people who don't know me. I'm Luna."[break][break]
Finally, Luna would wiggle her fingers towards her blanket and two of the clouds attached to her would float over towards the umbrella that caught it, attempting to lift it up and free. "You both seem nice, thanks for uh- helping me to my feet. I was just taking a nap, you know," She pointed up to the roof she had just fell from. "Up there" [break][break]

''I... Meant the sneaking, I barely hear you sometimes. If you told me your quirk was being stealthy I'd believe you.'' She still couldn't work out why Khepri spoke the way they did. At first she thought it was just an elaborate joke and something they did to mess with others, but she wasn't so convinced anymore. Maybe it was an overseas thing, like people in Egypt just spoke in a way that was very literal and hyper specific. She hadn't been to Egypt herself after all so she couldn't discount it. ''I don't know what's natural about blankets blowing in the wind.'' She looked at Khepri, then back at the blanket. Almost as if on cue, as soon as she was hanging out with Khepri weird stuff started happening. Not only the blanket, but a person falling off the roof too. When they finally got Luna up she was both relieved and angry to hear that she was okay. Here she was getting worried over nothing because this person was being careless. ''I, uh..'' Her eyes drifted up to the cloud as it suddenly turned around and showed its big, smiley face. Stuff of nightmares. She did nothing to withhold the blanket from the little clouds once they split up and tried to fetch it for Luna, in fact she helped them get it off her umbrella instead. She just stood there in stunned silence until she remembered that she was angry. ''A little rude? I sprinted over here because of you!'' She huffed, a dark gray cloud forming over her head, soaking her hair and face before she could shield herself. With some effort she opened her umbrella, letting it catch the cold droplets instead of herself. ''I'm not nice.'' She grumbled as she wringed water out of her hair. ''Why were you napping on a roof? Do you have a death wish or are you just stupid?'' She was harsh as usual, but even more so because she was out of breath thanks to this Luna. Letting out a small sigh she pointed her thumb at herself. ''I'm Yoko. This is Khepri.'' She looked over and gestured to the catbug next to her. Pausing as she noticed a difference in their outfit. Khepri usually didn't wear that color did they? Why today? Why now? ''...Have you changed?''Luna de Lune, Mafdet Khepri

"I don’t know if my quirk is being stealthy, I always notice it." There were only four days where they didn't and they didn't really remember those days. They could if they wanted to but whenever they did they somehow got sidetr- Oh, Yoko asked another question. "I'll look it up later," Khepri helpfully replied just before they noticed Luna. Once they'd helped her up they tilted her head in thought "Is it rude?" Khepri asked both Luna and Yoko with a tilt of their head. They’d never heard falling off the roof in front of people be called rude. They’d need to make sure to note that down. They’d been in Japan for almost a year now and still they were consistently surprised by the specifics of its social conventions. Well, the metaphorical ones. They still hadn’t seen the physical social convention so they couldn't be surprised by that one yet. Every time they thought they found it the convention was about anime instead. Following Luna's finger Khepri nodded in agreement. They fully understood the benefits of napping on the roof. It had sun much longer than the ground and you could get much better coverage since it was at an angle. "Are those the only options?" Khepri asked Yoko after she’d introduced them. That would be bad. They’d met many people that were smarter than them, they had to tell Sadako immediately! A sharp intake of breath followed. Oh no, Sadako! Noticing that Yoko was staring at them Khepri met her gaze. "No, I'm still the same person. I am wearing different clothes though." Now that it was the weekend they’d decided not to wear their UAU school uniform. Having looked up what was best to wear for something like this they’d settled on an outfit comprised of a red shirt with a fun pattern and black shorts. "What's your favorite snack?" Khepri asked Luna the moment there was a lull in the conversation. Waiting for a reply they followed it up with a happy nod. "Great, let's go!"

[nospaces] [attr="class","sidebar"] [attr="class","icon"] [attr="class","text-area"]"Huh." Another cloud quirk? That was a pretty odd coincidence. At least, hers didn't rain. Or, rain yet? It was interesting. She just kind of glanced up with a tired stare at the other cloud as she spoke. Was it tied to their emotions? It certainly seemed that way. [break][break]
"Because it's warm up there. I wouldn't have crawled off if I'd get actually hurt." She'd explain herself, but it was a pretty poor explanation really. It's not like she put too much thought into her napping locations. If it was warm, cozy, and seemed even slightly enticing, that's all she needed. "I hate running, sorry again for making you sprint. I know how much it sucks." [break][break]
Her eyes would glance over to Khepri, slowly examining them as well. They seemed fun. Their outfit definitely demanded appreciation.[break][break]
"Animal crackers. The honey ones, specifically." Luna replied to Khepri, her curiosity getting the better of her. She had originally planned to just grab her blanket and then find somewhere else to sleep, but it felt like she had just been invited to tag along. [break][break]
"Alright." She didn't even ask where they were going, figuring she'd learn in the end eventually. A little mystery never hurt anyone. Luna just slowly stretched her back, nodding her head. "I was probably just gonna do nothing all day. Doing something is probably better than nothing. Typically, anyways. But nothing is just, so peaceful, you know?" [break][break]

''Yeah you would, wouldn't you? Pretty hard to tell if it's your quirk.'' As much as Khepri was fluent in complete and utter nonsense, they did actually make some sense there. When it came to Luna... Did Yoko miss the memo, was she the only person at campus that was remotely sane, or was she just surrounded by crazy people? ''Warm?'' She looked up at where Luna had been sleeping. ''You like sleeping outside?'' She asked it with a hint of disgust, but mostly because she couldn't imagine doing it herself due to her own quirk, especially in the fall season. ''Well... Whatever. Don't do it again.'' She pouted, putting her hands in her hoodie pocket. ''Most people don't survive falling down from a roof, Khepri.'' She clarified, but then most people weren't willingly sleeping on rooftops either. When Khepri answered her question by saying she was still the same person Yoko tried to interject. ''No, I- that's not...'' She let out a small sigh, giving up on trying to explain herself and accepting Khepri's quick-witted joke. ''You look great.'' She added. ''You like sugary snacks, Luna?'' She looked over at the sleepy student, trying to create small talk from her favorite snack answer. The more she looked at Luna the more she realized she hadn't seen her anywhere before... Was she faculty or a student? ''I wish I could remember what doing nothing feels like. Every day has been so busy since I started attending this school.'' Luna's answer all but confirmed it, but it was probably polite to ask her anyway. ''So, you're in the Gen Ed course or something? You must have it easy, they work us to the bone on the hero course. When it's not written assignments it's training. Over and over, and over again.'' It was presumptuous of her, but she truly had no idea who Luna was or what she was capable of. ''I like sour snacks. Pickled foods too. What's your favorite snack, Khepri?'' She took a pack of cigarettes out of her pocket. Oh right, she was getting cigarettes too. ''Do you smoke, Luna?''Luna de Lune, Mafdet Khepri

Khepri nodded in agreement. Roofs were nice and warm. Hmm, were they not supposed to do that here in Japan? Khepri would have to check later to make sure. They knew a nice roof next to a police station. Surely they'd tell them if they were doing something wrong there. "Oh." There wasn't much else Khepri could reply to that. Maybe they shouldn't try sleeping on a roof after all. "Thank you!" They added with a bright smile at the compliment, looking Yoko in the eye as they replied. "You look great too."Turning to face Luna when she answered the most important question Khepri nodded along. "They taste great but I don't tend to get the ones with honey myself because I'm afraid of bears. Why? Because bears can run at 30 miles an hour and Ueno zoo isn't far from here. That means a bear could jump at me the moment I open those animal crackers. Why would that bear be here? Because they can smell fear and I fear them."Well, some of them. Most were nice even if they were a bit territorial. Khepri once had a great time cooperating with one to get into a trash can. It wasn't nearly as peaceful as today was shaping up to be though. Doing nothing, getting snacks and just relaxing was nice now and then. Maybe they could even build that trebuchet they'd been meaning to. Hmm, they wondered if they could find any books on the subject around here. Maybe they could hit the library later. There were so many books there that helped with falling asleep, it would be the best place for Yoko to get some rest too. "Tilapia are great. The crocodiles can't get out here in Japan. I can't get the good ones right now though because I can't fly anymore."Khepri suddenly stopped in their track, eyes going wide and mouth opening slightly. "Pickles and honey go great together. Tilapia can be pickled. What if, wha-" They had to call Stellar. Not now though, they couldn't just start a phone call in the middle of a conversation. "Yoko, remember Pickled Honey Tilapia for me." There, with two people thinking about it there was no way they'd forg- huh that butterfly over there had an interesting pattern on its wings. Aww, it was gone before they could point to it. "We're almost there. I found a lot of shops here by looking in the right places. They're usually on the side of the road unless it's one of the smaller ones with wheels." Khepri happily explained. "What do you two want? There's this great place near here that does Chinese style skewers but also lets you bring your own ingredients if you ask persistently enough."
