FADE IN: EXT. TOKYO — NIGHTGabriel stands in the alley, overlooking his cracked mask. The damage from the last fight left it undisposed. He’d have to rush home to grab another but the growing shadows entering the alleyway told him otherwise. GABE (V.O.)
There are few things worse than being caught with your pants down; getting caught in your zipper, stepping in dog shit, and being mugged in the alleyway. Gabriel turns around. He sees three people. LEADER stands in the center with a black leather jacket. MUSCLE is to his left, hulking with their tumorous neck. BRAINS crouches to the left, trailing back a few paces. LEADER
How much do we need to break even tonight? BRAINS pulls out a tiny abacus — a few beads here, a few beads there, and the math is done. BRAIN nods, tossing the abacus in the air before clumsily catching it. LEADER

FADE IN: EXT. TOKYO — AFTERNOONChirp stands atop a fire escape. He had been trailing a criminal for a few blocks. For whatever reason they had felt particularly brave and mobilized all at once. There was no reason to suspect foul play — any fouler than one would expect from roaches of the underworld. But after his first run-in with one of these eager miscreants, he found himself in possession of a phone. One he couldn’t access. The crook he pursued seemed to be in possession of a similar — nay, identical phone. If anyone had answers, it was them. Chirp pulls out the device as the man comes to a halt. It seems they’re taking a breather. Not the best cardio, it seems. Before he has a chance to examine it further, the sound of glass breaking reverberates through the street. CHIRP ♪♪ (V.O)
Did he notice me? Chirp pulls out his gun, aims at the man, and pulls the trigger. A polaroid comes out and his eyes glow red — looking into the past. He immediately runs through the building and crosses the room. The window’s open, he jumps through it and slides down a ladder on the other side before kicking off the building and landing on the hood of the car. CHIRP ♪♪ (V.O)

He loves drama, banter, and being the most unserious person imaginable. Deflection is one of core tenants. Gabe intentionally treats things with a certain joviality as to undermine people's attempts at getting to know him, being vulnerable, or otherwise riling them up. Kill them with kindness in the most annoying way possible.
Plus, he never grew out of the 'knows everything at 15' disease. Symptoms include pretentiousness, undue stubbornness, an unjustified ego, and a penchant for looking down on others with different perspectives. Give him a creative outlet and he thinks of himself as the next Scorsese. His magnum opus will finish the world... if he ever gets started on the damn thing. Constantly distracted by other, smaller projects and the overwhelming pressure of living up to his own expectations, he's hesitant to get started. And like hell, he'll be honest about it.

Gabriel stared into his own, terrified eyes. Tears rolled down his face washing away the splatters of blood across it — blood that wasn't his own. When he looked down in his hands he learned that they weren't his hands. They belonged to a man much older than him. He could see the callouses under the lacerations and viscera he desperately tried to shove back into his torso. It was a lost cause. The man's eyes moved again, looking at the feet of an obscured figure. When he looked up a blade was awaiting him. As it swung down everything went black.
For years Gabriel's parents — and the specialists they took him to — thought these visions were night day terrors. Through countless therapeutic sessions, that cater both to his mental health and understanding of his quirk, they made no progress. It wasn't until his 8th birthday that they believed his dream was more than a dream. And by that point...
It was too late.
He had been kidnapped by Trinity, a serial killer who killed in threes. A man who was so afraid of death that he performed a ritual to ease his aging, warped mind. He would abduct a grandfather, an uncle, and a boy no older than 10 — none of which related — only to subjugate them to the same fate he was terrified of. It started with the old man, the adult, and finally the boy. By the time Trinity finished his ritual, he was already losing himself to death anxiety.
On this blessed day, a hero arrived. There was a single casualty, a fatal injury (which the man survived), and then there was a Gabriel who had escaped unharmed.
