A documentary on UAU? Freja wasn't entirely sure why this Chirp was doing it, but surely participating couldn't hurt, right? If anything, if she showed up in a documentary maybe that could help her get to know more people at the school? If she put her best foot forward, maybe the others would see that she wasn't weird for being quirkless. She was just another person like everyone else. Was Freja joining this project purely for selfish gains? ...Yes. That was how she found herself taking a seat and staring down the laptop. She had no clue how many students had been in here before her, she was just going to go in blind and answer from the heart. Well, so long as the questions didn't ask for anything too personal. 1) What makes you unique? That's already personal! ''Nothing whatsoever.'' She said plainly, visibly mulling it over for a couple more seconds, ''though some might say the fact that I'm quirkless and got into the hero course is pretty uncommon. But that doesn't make it unique. Anyone can do what I do.'' They deliberately danced around the fact that they were their twin brother's consciousness stuck inside their twin sister's body. Imagine leading with that revelation? And to the entire school? The bullying had already been pretty bad as it was. 2) What are some random, fun facts about you?''I'm from Denmark, which is pretty far away from here. All the way up in Northern Europe. Despite using a baseball bat, I've actually never played baseball because it isn't popular back home. Every kid grows up playing something called Roundball instead, which also involves a bat.'' What's another fun fact? I've already died once? No no, that's way too personal and gloomy. ''I really like flowers. I do a bunch of small scale land art projects in my free time and I've done flower art for years. I guess you could say flowers are my muse.''3) What is something you want to learn or wish you were better at?Pause. ... Everything? ... Freja pressed play again and cleared their throat. ''Being happy. Wouldn't that be nice?'' They didn't intend for it to sound so sad, but really how could it come out any other way? Just brush past it, next question, next question. 4) Do you know any good jokes? If so, what is it? ''Well I- I don't often do jokes but...'' With her hands in her lap she looked into the camera. ''If you go to a Scandinavian bakery, you could Finnish a Swedish Danish.'' There was a slight pause. ''Norway I'd make this up!'' Oof. That was fucking terrible, quick move on Freja move on! 5) Have any pet peeves? If so, which comes to mind first?''Assholes masquerading as nice people. If you have to be an asshole, at least be honest about it. Assholes trying to act nice when they really aren't are the worst type of people. I have no respect for them.'' Wasn't the range of these questions like super broad?? Just moments ago she was being asked to tell a dumb joke. 6) What is your favorite place on Earth?''Number one favorite?'' She crossed her arms as she thought about it. ''That's a really tough question! You're putting me on the spot! Uhh- anywhere close to the ocean.''7) Who are the special people in your life?Ouch. Pause again. Freja looked down at her hands. Who were they? The special people in her life... Freja had a ton of friends when she was alive, but Elias? He'd rather forget all about trying to join that street gang. Turns out they weren't all that nice after all. Besides, this was the first time he had thought about them in years so they couldn't be that special anymore. Freja was a good pick, but a complicated one. Freja was gone, but Elias was also Freja... Their parents? They had refused to accept that reality and thought Elias was the one who died, not Freja, so family relations were super awkward too. Freja pressed play again. ''Don't have any. I came to UAU to start fresh.''8) What is something you are proud of?''I'm pretty good at controlling my anger. Not a lot of things get to me and I like to think that's a good thing.''Was that all? Somehow it had taken an eternity and yet, the time had gone by so fast. The camera was still rolling as Freja addressed it and got up from her seat. ''Thanks for doing this thing, Chirp-san. Hope my answers didn't suck, feel free to cut it all out if you need to.''CHIRP ♪♪

[attr="class","skullbody"]The room was silent, or it least it would have been were it not for the laptop's fan kicking on. Thea sat there for a moment, glassy eyes staring into the camera with the vacant look that marked her every waking moment. She was here of course, partially in the present but mostly in the past. This wasn't her first interview, but it was the first time she'd ever actually done one. Life through the lens of stolen memories was weird, and sometimes she had trouble telling where she ended and someone else began. Sometimes was happening more and more these days.[break][break] Without diverting her gaze, she pressed the comedically large red button. Part of her was hoping some Acme device would detonate the room, but there was no such luck. [break][break] 1) What makes you unique? [break] “We... I.” She didn't know how to answer. In truth, she was as far away from unique as you could get. Every aspect of her life was ruled by the memories of someone else. She didn't have the capacity for original thought, only permutations of something someone had already done in the past. To be unique was to be your own person, but she was a legion. “I guess I have a unique world view. I see it through the eyes of a crowd, so many different viewpoints.”[break][break] 2) What are some random, fun facts about you? [break] Already she was regretting her decision to be here. The question was stupid, and no doubt the interviewer too. “I have a pet cat; she's a rescue named Tabitha.” Never mind that the cat was effectively brainwashed into loving her. “She's super friendly,” Thea made her that way. But it's better than being a traumatized stray.[break][break] 3) What is something you want to learn or wish you were better at? [break] “How to trust people.” She answered fast, too fast. But what else could she say? In this world, where all it would take for her to learn everything she needed to know about someone was a casual touch, just the brush of a hand to crack their mind wide open and lay their secrets bare. She had no need for trust. She craved it either way.[break][break] 4) Do you know any good jokes? If so, what is it? [break] “Yeah, but like, they don't translate well.” She lied, of course she knew jokes, hundreds of them. She just didn't find any of them funny. What was there to laugh about anyway?[break][break] 5) Have any pet peeves? If so, which comes to mind first? [break] “I hate liars.” The hypocrisy was palpable. She lied like she breathed and twice as often. It was a one-sided power dynamic, and she needed to be on top. Even still, being lied to hurt. What hurt the most was knowing exactly how someone felt about her, all smiles upfront and daggers from behind. It's why she stopped trusting people; better to just take the truth from them.[break][break] 6) What is your favorite place on Earth? [break] “There's this one pub somewhere in Whales. It's built on a cliffside. Everyone there is super friendly, and the view is amazing. I think they closed some twenty-odd years ago now. We still visit from time to time.” She smiled softly. It was fitting that her favorite place only exist in memory. [break][break] 7) Who are the special people in your life? [break] Words failed to come to her. Her parents were the furthest thing from special to her, and aside from that, she'd always been alone in a sea of people. Sure, she had precious memories of friends and family, but none of them were hers. She'd had friends before, but those affairs were always short-lived. The most precious people to her were people that had no idea she existed, idle minds she'd managed something off in her quest to feed the hole inside her with experiences she could never have. The only person who was ever a consistent figure in her life was Thea herself; half the time, she wasn't even there.[break][break] 8) What is something you are proud of? [break] “I'm always the smartest person in the room,” and when she wasn't, she made sure to change that quickly. It was the only thing she could call her own.[break][break] Thea stared at the camera despite having finished. Her mind already lost in another time and place. It was almost a full minute before the got up and left without so much as a thank you or a good bye.[break][break] [break] [attr="class","skullcredits"] TAIKO![newclass=.skullhover]width:420px;-webkit-filter: grayscale(100%);filter: grayscale(100%);-webkit-transition:all 1s ease;transition:all 1s ease;-webkit-transition-delay:0.1s;[/newclass] [newclass=.skullhover:hover]-webkit-filter: grayscale(0%);filter: grayscale(0%)-webkit-transition:all 1s ease;transition:all 1s ease;[/newclass] [newclass=.skullimg]width:380px;height:200px;background-image:url(https://i.ibb.co/nrVgLSZ/Untitlesdffsdd.png); background-repeat:no-repeat;[/newclass] [newclass=.skulltitle]font-family:verdana;font-weight:700;font-size:50px;position:relative;text-align:center;color:#168D93;margin-top:-36px;margin-bottom:0px;text-shadow: -1px 0 black, 0 1px black, 1px 0 black, 0 -1px black;[/newclass] [newclass=.skulloverlap]letter-spacing:1px;font-family:oswald;font-weight:200;font-size:9px;position:relative;text-align:center;margin-top:-0;margin-bottom:-5px;color:#e8e8e8;text-shadow: -1px 0 black, 0 1px black, 1px 0 black, 0 -1px black;[/newclass] [newclass=.skullbody]div-align:center;text-align:justify;width:380px;font-size:10px;font-family:roboto;color:#e8e8e8;[/newclass] [newclass=.skullbody b]color:#168D93;[/newclass] [newclass=.skullinfo]width:380px;font-family:oswald;font-size:9px;font-weight:200;color:#767676;text-align:right[/newclass] [newclass=.skullcredits]width:380px;font-family:roboto;font-size:8px;text-align:center;[/newclass] [googlefont=Oswald] [googlefont=Roboto]

Post by Ana Borovsky on Jun 9, 2023 15:54:43 GMT
IT'S ME! HI!
I'M THE PROBLEM! IT'S ME!
It seemed like someone was always passing out fliers or posting them to walls around campus. Ana saw dozens on the daily. She had even posted a few of her own looking for new guinea pigs to put through trials and test prototypes on. That was how she had met Shana. Ana didn’t normally bother responding to any of them herself though. Until she saw one about being in a documentary.
Ana loved documentaries.
Until she had met Jun and Gen, documentaries were the only things she ever watched. Then came Ghost in the Shell and everything that happened after. Still, documentaries were Ana’s favorite. Especially science focused ones. So the chance to be in one herself was too good to pass up. The only problem was that Mama had always told Ana to limit her exposure to being recorded and documented. Then again, she was the best student in the Department of Support at UA University. At least by her own metrics. Which meant her exploits were chronicled regularly.
Was this is any different?
It was, but Ana was choosing to ignore it.
Much like how she ignored a select few of her parents’ rules by dating Gen.
She waited, albeit impatiently, for her turn in the room. The setup was more simplistic than she expected when she entered. A little wave of disappointment washed over her. Still, the chance to be in a documentary, even a basic one, didn’t come along every day! Ana took her place in front of the camera at the desk and hit the button with her trademark expression of wide eyes and an even wider smile firmly affixed across her features.
What makes you unique?
Little thought had to go into this. Quirk related things weren’t even considered. Saying your Quirk made you unique was a cop out in Ana’s mind. Everyone with a Quirk was unique and everyone without a Quirk was unique in that they didn’t have on in this day and age after a century of focused evolution of the species. So Ana went with what she often told people and what they often told her in return.
“Oh! In terms of UAU, I’m not incompetent like most everyone else here! In general, I’d say that it’s how I’m very direct!”
She had no choice in either matter due to her condition. But Ana didn’t mind. She liked how she was even if other people didn’t! And almost as important, Gen liked how she was.
What are some random, fun facts about you?
Unlike the first question, this one required more thought if only because Ana didn’t like revealing too much about herself. There was also the issue of what counted as either random or fun. Being home schooled and living in Alaska were facts she could supply, but neither were random nor fun. Her IQ being well over 200 might count, but Ana wasn’t supposed to tell people what it was exactly. There was also her obsession with fries, but that seemed too personal to share outright because of how it connected to her issues with eating. So after a few awkward seconds, she finally answered.
“I have a collection of classical music vinyls and I’m really good at drawing up nondisclosure agreements!”
What is something you want to learn or wish you were better at?
Another easy answer.
“Science! Though I am already very good at it! I just want to be better!”
Do you know any good jokes? If so, what is it?
Ana really, really, wanted to say the other students at the school, but she had, as Gen would put it, already roasted the UAU roster with her line about not being incompetent. Ana valued efficiency and part of efficiency was not being redundant. So she had to think of a different joke. She settled on one a professor had told in class the year prior.
“It’s kind of long, but here I go!
A physicist, a biologist, and a chemist were going to the ocean for the first time! The physicist saw the ocean and was fascinated by the waves! They said he wanted to do some research on the fluid dynamics of the waves and walked into the ocean! Obviously they drowned and never returned! The biologist said they wanted to do research on the flora and fauna inside the ocean and walked inside the ocean! They too never returned!
The chemist waited for a long time and afterwards, wrote the observation, “The physicist and the biologist are soluble in ocean water!”
The observation is actually false though because of how skin and fat work! Even if humans can begin to decay in water, that isn't the same as being soluble! That’s the funny part to me! Though I’ve been told that’s not why the joke is supposed to be funny!”
Have any pet peeves? If so, which comes to mind first?
It was an interesting question. One Ana might ask of people herself because it highlighted a person’s weakness. Though Ana was remarkably good at figuring those out on her own. Her eyes could see more than most people’s and in more than one way. So she lied. There was no reason for anyone to know how she hated sweets and cucumbers and being bored or how total blackouts made her feel sick. Unfortunately and unbeknownst to her, now someone would because she thought it on camera.
“No! Nothing really bothers me!”
What is your favorite place on Earth?
Anywhere Gen happened to be was the answer that first popped into her head. Like the unused classroom they had sneaked into the first week that classes had resumed so they could see each other for the first time after the break in between freshmen and sophomore year. But she couldn’t say that and not just because it was too personal by her own standards. Gen didn’t want anyone knowing about them because he didn’t want her getting hurt for being associated with him and his… unique personality. So Ana had to answer with the next best thing, which had once been home in Alaska with her family, but no longer was.
“My lab!”
She had her own personal setup in the Support Department to accommodate her unique needs. While she could work in a public space or a different lab if she had to, it caused her anxiety. Ana craved the familiarity and safety of her own space.
Who are the special people in your life?
Again, Gen was the first person to pop into Ana’s head. She contemplated the question for a moment. He didn’t want people to know they were dating for her safety, but people already knew that they were friends. So it wouldn’t be weird to include him in the list. Especially because she could include another friend.
“My friends, Gen and Jun! And Mama, Papa, Marina, and Dmitri!”
She debated adding Bear to the list, but he technically didn’t count as people.
What is something you are proud of?
There was a moment of disparity here in between Ana’s earlier statements about being competent and good at science. They were both true statements to be sure, but in her head there was a darkness. A gaping maw of despair that there was nothing to be proud about because she was the least of her siblings. A failure by comparison in [redacted] and a fact made abundantly clear by her family on a regular basis. So Ana always tried her hardest to be the best everywhere else and follow almost everything Mama had ordered her to do. Much to the annoyance of everyone else that had the misfortune of interacting with her. Especially the other students in the Support Department. Obviously Ana could say none of this, so she just smiled wider into the camera and lied.
“All of my prototypes!”
And then she left.

"Sorry about this guys," says St. Peter. "God didn't realize just how many people would get into heaven, so we have a new policy. You now have to tell me the story of how you died, and if I think it's sad or interesting enough, I'll let you in."
He walks up to the first man who is a nerdy, bookish sort in a bad business suit and says, "Tell me your story."
"Okay," says the man. "I thought I had a wonderful life. I had a beautiful wife and we had a lovely place on the 34th floor of an apartment building. I came home from work early today, and I saw my beautiful wife sleeping naked in bed with another man's clothes on the floor. So of course I started looking for the bastard who slept with my wife."
"Like I said, I lived in an apartment. There weren't that many places to hide, but I couldn't find him anywhere! Just when I was about to go confront my wife, I see him. The bastard was hiding outside the window, holding onto the windowsill. I go up to him and started stomping on his hands over and over again, but he wouldn't let go. I finally kicked him in the face and he fell. Unfortunately, he landed on a bush and bounced to safety. In my anger, I grabbed my refrigerator and throw it out after him. However, the cord from the refrigerator wrapped around my leg and pulled me to my death."
St. Peter nods and says, "You're story is acceptable. Welcome to heaven." He goes to the second man a brawny working-man type and says, "What's your story?"
"I'm a window washer," says the man. "I've been a window washer for over 20 years. Well today, I'm washing the windows of the 35th floor of this apartment building when my scaffolding breaks. I thought I was going to die, but I manage to catch myself on the windowsill of the story below. All of a sudden this maniac comes out and starts mashing my fingers. I try my best to hold on, but he kicks me in the face and I fall. Once again, I thought I was going to die, but I land on this hedge and bounce away no worse for the wear. I look up and BOOM. Dead. Last thing I saw was a refrigerator."
St. Peter holds back a chuckle and lets him into heaven. He goes to the third man, a ridiculously handsome fellow with sandy-blonde hair, and asks, "What's your story?"
"Alright," says the man. "Picture this. You just got finished banging some dude's wife. He comes home. You hide in the refrigerator."

Department of Heroes Freshman
Miroru stepped into the room after showing the student outside the flier, and closed the door behind her. The room was empty of people, and she couldn't help feeling a bit unsettled. Taking an interview in front of a camera without another person there..? She wasn't sure why it bothered her, but it felt doubly strange to be in a classroom without the familiar thrum of the EM fields and thermal imprints people left by virtue of existing.
It was just her and some gadgets.
Still... it was another opportunity to present herself and her worldview to the university and possibly her fellow students. She sat down- and immediately frowned. The projector showing the laptop's screen behind her felt... tacky.
She hit the button to start recording and sat down. A moment later, she started to twist the light, redirecting and shrinking the display to a corner of what the camera was catching as she added a backdrop of a classroom filled with setting autumn sun, a picturesque start for the scenery. That done, she proceeded with zooming in on each of the questions in turn and adjusting to the next question as she answered them.
[What makes you unique?] The first question was weird, and the way her face screwed up showed that she thought so. "That's a strange question, isn't it? Everyone, by default, is unique. The question makes it sound like that's not the case. What makes me unique is being me- it doesn't need an explanation."
Sighing, she tried to smooth her expression as she continued. "If the question is meant to be what makes me stand out as a hero, I'd say it's my outlook on what being a hero is really supposed to mean.
Being a hero is about protecting and building up society as a whole. It's not about brand deals or popularity rankings or quirk tier standings. It's about making sure that the person you become when you step out as a hero improves the lives of everyone they touch. The heroes around you, the civilians you're protecting, and preferably the foes you turn in as well, even if that means having them serve their time to get a chance at reforming, though obviously their choices to damage the lives of others place them as a lower priority for that consideration."
She grimaced faintly, glancing off to the side with a glower. "I've got no respect for so-called heroes with self-serving calues higher than that. Go into show business or corporate work if that's what you're going to prioritize in the field."
[What are some random, fun facts about you?] Miroru's frown lingered, but cleared slowly. "Oh. Uh. Hm. I like sour things. Like, really love sour sweets. I make my own support gear... um... oh! I go by Miroru. Just Miroru."[What is something you want to learn or wish you were better at?] That one took Miroru a second. There were a lot of things she needed to improve at, and it took a few moments to narrow it down. "... I'd say... hand to hand combat. I need to have solid tools to take down criminals when I can't rely on my quirk. That... and talking to people. It's nervewracking."[Do you know any good jokes? If so, what is it?] Miroru eyed the question and squinted, and the overlay changed.[Do you know any good jokes? If so, what is it?] She snickers afterwards, and nods.
"There's a business conference for a big manufacturing corporation, and the marketing, executive, and engineering teams are all on the same train station to start heading to the big city. The marketing team heads to the counter first, and the six person team buys just two tickets. The three executives, knowing that the marketing team always has great ideas, buys just one ticket too.The three engineers glance at each other, then? Don't buy any.On the train, as the conductor starts down the carriage, the marketing team splits up and squeezes into two bathrooms. Puzzled, the executives watch, and sure enough, the conductor knocks on the bathroom door and asks, "Ticket please." Out comes one ticket, and he moves on. At the next bathroom, he knocks. "Ticket please." Out comes one ticket, and he moves on.The executives are of course delighted, and move to the next bathroom and squeeze in together, gloating over how much money the company saved with this technique. A few moments later, the engineers knock on the door."Ticket please." [Have any pet peeves? If so, which comes to mind first?] The redhead cleared her throat. Oops. "I already answered that. If you're a hero whose priority isn't protecting and improving the lives of the people around you, including the heroes you fight beside, my pet peeve is you."[What is your favorite place on Earth?] 6) That made her stop and think. What WAS her favorite place? "Um... oh." As she thought of a good place, the backdrop changed again. An isolated forest path between blossoming cherry trees. "I think it'd be Yoshino, during the Sakura festival. It's pretty, and the mountains are covered, so you can just disappear and walk for a while and usually not see people for a bit. It's nice." The fact that a lot of the background buzz of human civilization screaming at her quirk faded in the mountains sure didn't hurt.[Who are the special people in your life?] Miroru's face immediately fell at that one. Her eyes shifted a little, thinking hard, but...
She moved on to the next question without answering out loud. Which was an answer in and of itself.
[What is something you are proud of?] That question was easier. Miroru piped up gratefully. "My quirk. It's been a really long, hard road getting it to where it is today, and so much of it is a matter of clever application and scientific knowledge more than quirk clout. It didn't used to do... much of anything at all, so I'm really proud of how far I've come with that, despite everything."
The display of the projector screen slowly vanished behind the sakura backdrop. Miroru took a deep breath, and bowed towards the camera. "I am Miroru, and I hope my answers were informative or entertaining. I look forward to meeting you next time as Prism, the Spectrum Hero- but for now, thank you, and have a good day."
The room faded to black as Miroru gradually squashed the light, and once it was fully dark, she hit the button to end the recording, relaxed her quirk, and walked out, rubbing her wrists absently to soothe them a bit as she started out for the support labs.
Time to do something productive. I can pay no price too great for justice.

Post by Robin on Jun 12, 2023 3:45:53 GMT
The room was dripping with the almost oppressive silence as the glassy black lens of the camera glared a hole into Robin. The bird had shown up to enforce her status as a student into reality. This school wasn’t to figure out her real identity as a secret enforcer for the shadow government because they were afraid of quirks getting out of hand. She shrugged the truth off of her. She wasn’t R1-17, she was Robin. She was a hero student who wanted to be a hero for purely altruistic means. Being a light in the dark, a beacon in the night. She was going to pretend to be everything she knew the students around her couldn’t be.
Trustworthy. With a small sigh she sat in the accursed chair and placed her rifle bag onto the counter. If she was here, she might as well get some cleaning done. She laid out various solvents and oils, and placed the rifle on the table. With a sigh she tapped the button. Let’s get this over with. What makes you unique?
Genetics, her mind jumped to without hesitation. Genetics, superior training, and some of the best equipment money couldn’t buy. A ghost of a smile crested her face as her mind throttled an answer that the faculty might deem Heroic as her hands worked dutifully on their task. “Well, the wings of course.” she extended them out, the magnificent display getting delayed for a moment as they untangled their way out of the chair prison. They would extend to their full length, or at least, as full as this room could allow. “Plus I can shoot the dick off of a gnat at 300 yards.” she tacked on, the confidence exuding from her being truly genuine. What are some random fun facts about you?
Another pause. Another lie being brewed up. “I have 46 siblings.” she shrugged. It wasn’t really a lie. The flock was 47 in number, including her. They weren’t all truly related, but the psychological conditioning they experienced made their bond closer than family. They might not be related by blood, but they all have the same goal in mind. Plus, it might make her seem more sympathetic. Could always use the pity points. “They were always a handful, but we… banded together and overcame... uh, alot.” What is something you want to learn or wish you were better at?
Knife fighting. She was always weaker than the flock, and that lack of muscles had always placed her into the marksmen niche… that and the superior eyes. Unfortunately, in order to not overload her genetics, sacrifices were made to her other faculties. Her face tilted as she considered simply telling the truth, the bolt and follower coming free from the upper receiver of the rifle. Her primary weapon will always be a rifle, but maybe it was time for her to learn how to handle herself in close quarters. That, or she could go grab a machine pistol from the Quartermaster. “Eh, always wanted to learn to knife fight” she shrugged out, “that or i guess dancing? I never did have rhythm” Do you know any good jokes? If so, what is it?
Jokes? Shit, what kind of an interview asks for a joke? Her whole time here is a huge joke, but no one watching would have the context to understand that, and she was specifically not going to tell anyone. “Uhh, well. My brother did have a joke about a brick… how did it go? Uhhh, The pilot looked out the window and saw the parrot… what was in it’s mouth? No, wait-” Her hands faltered for a moment, the action causing the bottle of solvent to spill onto the table. An acrid smell tore through the room as her lungs worked to purge the toxins and replace the dying lobes. She coughed as she threw a rag onto the liquid in an attempt to lessen the permanent damage the table would sustain. “Uhhh… No, I do not know any good jokes.” She finished, her cheeks turning a shade of peach as she threw the acid soaked rag into the corner of the room. Besides, It was a joke she heard from a member of her Flock over a campfire and a can of beans. She would have to get them to retell it once she was released from duty here at the school. Have any pet peeves? If so, which comes to mind first? “Well, I hate it when slight variations in ambient humidity create turbulence in the air. It seems like it wouldn’t cause such a big deal, but at 200 yards or more, even at .5 MOA, those degrees add up at those distances. Plus, don’t even get me started on the earth. Who decided it got to rotate, and that that rotation would affect the trajectory of the bullet! Plus shooting in either hemisphere, you have to account for different directions of travel. Plus, while I’m on the subject, I love packing my bullets as much as the next bird, but when the cartridge itself is damaged, or the brass is compromised by some impurity? There’s no accounting for that! The bullet just has different ballistics! It’s called Match Ammo because I made them all to Match! Why the fuck is the metal holding me back!? And another thing, When I…!!” What is your favorite place on Earth? “...There’s this festival in germany. Called… the festival of lights? Or something, I can’t remember” A warm smile extended across her face. After several minutes of ranting, the interview would continue into a more honest answer. An unusual feeling welled up inside the bird as her mind flashed back to Europe, to the many fir trees decorated with light. The smell of chemicals was replaced with the smell of warm bread and warm hearts. Market Stalls lined the courtyard and people would peddle wares and souvenirs. Her hands stopped as she was cast back in her memory. They had been in the country to provide protection for a government official who was dealing in shady affairs and the festival was the perfect cover in order to conduct business. It was a shame she would never go back, but at least she still had the memories of her time there. Who are the special people in your life? “Uhh, my 46 squa… siblings…” she muttered before she could think, the answer already formed in her mind. It might’ve been induced artificially, but the bond the flock has with each other was supernatural. The question floated around as she reassembled her rifle. Each part finding its home in the greater tool. The same could be said with the flock. Each was simply a part of the greater whole. A tool to be used when deemed necessary. But they still cared about each other as if they were family. What is something you are proud of?“Nothing, Pride is a sin.” She stated plainly, her expression darkening. “Pride leads to mistakes, it leads to death, it leads to failure. I do not have a single prideful bone in my body because I do not have pride in my actions. I do them because they need to be done and I am uniquely capable of doing them. What I have is confidence. I have confidence in who I am because there are people out there trusting me to do my job. I have confidence because if I flinch, people will die. If I hesitate, people will die. If I falter, people will die.” she finished with a scowl, her hands clenched into fists as the light on the camera blinked out. The interview was officially over. A small cough echoed through the room as Robin got her thoughts in order. What started as a fun interview had managed to grab her and twist her emotions into a stir. She collected her supplies and threw them into her bag as she got up and made her way to the door. A deep breath later, she was through the door and this interview was just a memory. CHIRP ♪♪

Post by Aimoto Momo on Jun 12, 2023 21:35:02 GMT
Momo wasn’t supposed to be there. She was supposed to be in the cafeteria. So why wasn’t she there? Mostly because of several wrong turns and a few close encounters with corners of said turns. It was like they just jumped out at her! Much like the person that handed her a flier and pushed her in the direction (a few times as she immediately turned the wrong way) of another student’s project. Something about a documentary. Momo only ever watched the ones about bugs, but who was she to turn down the chance to help out a fellow student!
So there she was, positioned before the camera and the wall projection. Eager eyes followed the words displayed at the front of the classroom. She was thankful her mom had made her stay on top of her Japanese year round and not just when she visited family in the summer. Otherwise she would have been really embarrassed right then. Instead, she was able to introduce herself to the unmanned camera in perfect Japanese that was only slightly marked by her native French accent.
“Hi! I’m Aimoto Momo! I hope you like my interview!”
What makes you unique?
“Oh, um… I’ve never really thought about it before. My mom says I’m really lucky though! So maybe that? I’m not sure what she means, but that has to be unique! Right?”
What are some random, fun facts about you?
“Hm… I’m really good at jumping rope! I went to a ballet school from eight to eighteen. I even got to perform on stage! I also competed in national rhythm gymnastics, but I never placed, so mom says it was more of a hobby. Um… I also really like bugs! They’re super cute!”
What is something you want to learn or wish you were better at?
“School! Why does it have to be so hard?! Especially math. And it isn’t just hard, it’s boring too! Please don’t tell the professors I said that. I don’t want them to feel like they’re doing a bad job. It’s me, not them! I promise!”
Do you know any good jokes? If so, what is it?
“Oh! I totally do! What do you call a bee that can’t make up its mind?”
Momo paused for dramatic effect.
“A maybee!”
She covered her mouth and giggled.
Have any pet peeves? If so, which comes to mind first?
“When people are mean! Everything would be better for everyone if everyone was nice! But… one of the reasons I want to be a Hero is to help people that were put into situations that don’t let them be nice as easily as other people! So even if someone is mean, they still deserve a chance to be better and I want to help them!”
What is your favorite place on Earth?
“There’s this AMAZING bakery back home in Paris that makes these crepes with fresh made ricotta and local fruit that are the ABSOLUTE BEST EVER! I’m going to drool just thinking about them! Please don’t look.”
Momo covered her mouth again and stared off wistfully in the distance.
Who are the special people in your life?
“My mom for sure! She’s raised me by myself and is super smart, pretty, and hardworking! I hope I can be even half the person she is! Oh! And the rest of my family too! I actually have cousins that go here! Yo-chan and Ken-kun! Hi!”
What is something you are proud of?
“Getting into UA University! My mom made a deal with me that she’d only approve of me being a Hero if I could get in! And even though I didn’t have any formal training, I managed to do it! So I won’t waste this chance to be the best Hero ever and make my mom proud! Wish me luck!”
She stood up and posed.
“Momo out!”

Post by Marlene Lovechild on Jun 14, 2023 15:44:27 GMT
Marlene did not expect to have ended up here.
But on her way through the hallway, a very nondescript student handed her a flyer, and said that many students are encouraged to participate in the interview. The automaton girl did not see these "many students" lining up next to the interview room, but assumed that it was a thing that all students had to do, eventually. She had some time, and there was no need to be in a hurry. And if humans did this, so did she need to participate. If she were to understand and replicate them better.
The girl walked inside. Very properly dressed, in a black-and-white dress that made her look like a maid of some kind. She walked over to the chair, giving the camera an odd, unblinking look. She sat very carefully, and supported the chair with her hands, to not make it creak against the floor, when approximately 450 pounds of weight descended on her. For a very petite-looking girl, Marlene was heavier than most. A secret she did not wish to expose to cameras. With a press of the button of the laptop, her interview would start.
1) What makes you unique?
Marlene read the first question out loud. She thought about it, for a moment. It was a question that baffled most people. The automaton, however, knew an answer to that straight away. It took her only a moment to consider it. The girl spoke in an even, neutral tone. As if taking a job interview. Her expression equally dispassionate. Looking into the camera with an unblinking gaze, she answered:
"There is only one Marlene Lovechild."
'That is alive, at least.' - she added, in her mind, before moving on to the next question.
2) What are some random, fun facts about you?
"Sometimes, I break pencils with my fingers. It happens on accident." - the machine shrugged a bit, imitating a human motion. It seemed appropriate for the question, and the situation.
3) What is something you want to learn or wish you were better at?
"I would like to be more personable, and understand how people act." - Marlene replied to this very personal question, earnestly. She did not hide her mission, or anything, really. It was hard to be embarrassed about something, if you could hardly feel embarrassment at all.
4) Do you know any good jokes? If so, what is it?
"I enjoy the sight of humans on their knees." - Marlene spoke, her tone cold and terrifying. A small smile appeared on her face, at the end. "That was a joke."
5) Have any pet peeves? If so, which comes to mind first?
This question made Marlene think. One could almost see her processing all of her memory up to this moment, to figure something out.
"I do not mind most things. But I appreciate neatness and tidiness."
6) What is your favorite place on Earth?
"My favorite place on Earth is my home. It is where my family resides."
7) Who are the special people in your life?
"My mother. I would not be here, without her."
8) What is something you are proud of?
The question made Marlene think again. She diligently scanned her memory for events that would fit the bill. A shadow of a frown crossed her face, as she looked back into the lens of the camera.
"Nothing."
