Zipper’s in disbelief. She’s still, unmoving. The idea that her advances would be reciprocated, even if unenthusiastically, meant she had a chance. Her foot was in the door. And it was up to her to take Kaida’s indifference and make a home of her. “This weekend.” There’s confidence now. Unearned by all means, but she won’t let this slip through her hands. Not without giving it her all. “Dreamworld.” Because you’re the girl of my dreams. Thank god, I didn’t say that aloud. “Because you’re the girl of my dreams.” Christ. Control yourself. Zipper’s face is red. She’s so goddamn cringe, but she keeps pressing forward. She hands Kaida her phone and looks away. Eye contact is too difficult for this part. There’s always a chance she changes her mind. “Put your number in so… I can call you… and pick you up…”

Zipper struts in with purpose. She’s about five feet away when she stops, takes a bow, and introduces herself. “Doctor Serna,” She says. “My name is Ito Yoko but call me Zipper.” She stands up proper. “I’m in the management department but am looking to take a few electives on hero costumes to help prepare my clients for branding.” Client. Kei Hada. Zipper takes a deep breath, determined as all hell to take her leap of faith. Rejection was a bitch. And after her series of rejections, she wasn’t sure how she’d feel if her career was stifled, too. Fortunately, this was a man. There wasn’t a way he could hurt her in the way a tall, terrifying woman could have. “I would like your guidance in particular,” She says. “Not only do you specialize in hero costumes, but your reputation precedes you.” There was so much more to learn from him. He knew how to carry himself in a way most professionals couldn’t — even if some were put off by the person. Zipper, however, saw through it. It was genius branding. She bows again.

Zipper knew Kaida was there but thought she’d go unnoticed for whatever reason. Considering no one else was here, and Kaida had taken Zipper to the infirmary specifically (because they were both gay for one another), she should have known better. Frantically searching? Stupid… stupid!Zipper leans back into the bed, pretending to be asleep, and then wakes up slowly after a moderately long, awkward pause. “Nothing’s wrong beautiful,” Oh no. Mouth. What are you doing? “If anything were wrong, it’s that I don’t have you lying next to me.” Her eyebrows wriggle on their own. WHAT THE FUCK! “Thank you so much for taking care of me… but how about…” A wink. “I take care of you?” She snaps out of it. Her face is red. Not flush, not reddish, but an entire block of red light with how embarrassed she was at herself. “I’M SO SORRY!” Zipper’s lost it now. “It’s just I’m gay for you and you said you’re gay for me too and I never thought I’d get this far and I don’t know what to do I’m new to all this so I’m just trying to get you to like me and marry me but I don’t have a wedding ring so maybe I’ll get one for later and surprise you but I’m realizing we don’t really know each other so maybe we should take things slow and maybe just go on a date and kiss or something?” Yeah, that went worse than expected. “...I’ll pay?”

Zipper rushes into Kei’s room, slams the door, and starts yelling. Her face is read, she probably spit more than she intended (she didn’t want to at all, actually), and flailed her arms like a lunatic. “KEI, YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE WHAT I HA—” Yaoyao wasn’t in here, but she remembered what happened last time. She walked out the door, gently shut the door, and knocked from the outside. “Kei, I have great news. I’m going to respectfully slide this letter underneath your door and I would love for you to read it and take this opportunity to put your name out there.” She quickly added. “As a support student.” Zipper sliders the letter, which reads: Dear Kei Hada, We at Bernie’s Burgers are formally offering our hand in a collaborative project. This upcoming weekend we plan to host a billiards tournament and would like the following cue stick as the prize. If you’re interested in working with us, not only will we generously compensate you but you’ll get a free dinner at Bernie’s Burgers and get to meet Bernard himself! Sincerely, Bernie’s Burgers Legal Team [CUE STICK SCHEMATICS] “I’m sorry for coming in and slamming the door.” Her face was red thinking of Yaoyao. “I’ll… leave for now. Bye!”

Rumor has it there’s a new head of the support department. They’re a prestigious, attention-seeking PR savant that chooses this field. They could be a model or movie star, but he uses his intellect and social know-how to pave a path forward for all awkward support students around Japan. Kei fits perfectly into that category. When he’s not the center of attention, Kei is a fully functional human being. A bit skittish, but we all have our ticks. But when he’s in the spotlight he turns into a mess. The same man on the news for saving the day — because he wasn’t aware of the cameras — became an echo of himself. It wasn’t as bad as some of the performances at the showcase, but… Hasani was the template. And the kicker? He knew how to make hero costumes. Zipper didn’t want to be a support kid, nor did she want to become a professional suitmaker, but she did need to know the process enough to help brand her clientele. Knock. Knock. Knock.

Everything was black. There wasn’t an instance of thought in the void. And by the time Zipper realized she was in a void, she was coming to. With a few blinks, the light strained her eyes. The ceiling was unfamiliar and she swore she had been outside only a moment ago. The world is blurry, the room is quiet, and as she squirms around she realizes she’s in a bed. “Where am I?” Sitting up, she looks around. The smell of food had disappeared — she hadn’t even had a bite. The last thing she remembered was Kaida. Speak of the devil. As she turns, she sees her sitting. It all comes rushing back to her. Very gay to meet you. Kaida was very gay to meet her, too. Her face red, Zipper lays back down ready to faint again. The infinite futures narrow into a world where they’re together, have a family and are running the convenience store. A ring… Zipper thinks to herself. She searches herself. I need a ring.

Everything Zipper knew had been reflected on her like a twisted mirror. She thought Kei delusional, pining over some fabricated girl that represented an unrequited love within his adolescence. But now, sobered by the revelation that these two are dating (and both aware of the fact), Zipper had to come to grips with the idea that this was another love lost. She thought back to the giantess at the grave and her red, flush face quickly paled as the creeping sting of rejection compounded upon itself. Maybe she should’ve stayed het. As if that’s a choice. Her mood comes down and her grip weakens just enough to stave off the pain. Zipper thought herself unworthy of such luxuries. “Not a fangirl,” Her voice is weak, raspy. The rebound from the high manifests in a zombie-like state. But instead of rotting flesh and incoherent grunts, you can see death in her eyes from another love lost. “I thought that’s what friends did.” Yaoyao could snap her neck and she’d let it happen. But, this time, she didn’t fabricate a universe where she writhed in pleasure. Instead, she saw it as an end to the heartbreak. “Kei, I’m sorry for not believing you have a super hot, goth girlfriend.” Zipper was depressed but her words betrayed her tone. A single instance of rejection was hard enough, but the second multiplied infinitely. She wasn’t strong enough. “And I’m sorry for thinking you were a super hot, dream babe and not a real person, in a real bed, with real feelings.” Zipper knew what good PR was. And for a moment, she kept things coherent enough to say something passable. But it was only for a moment as the depression spilled out of her and she confided in Kei — the one friend she’d made since being here. “After the Kioko thing I…” Zipper finally made eye contact with Yaoyao and fell in love all over again. She bit her tongue, unsure how to process the whiplash of emotions. If she could give away her heart, too. If she could stomp away the feelings, she’d settle for that. Zipper was no stranger to feeling alone in a room, but it was the first time she looked at Kei with envy. “It doesn’t matter.” Not only was she a bad manager, she was a bad friend, too.

“These pillows are so weird, by the way,” Zipper had never felt a woman before. For most of her life, she had been reserved about who touched her. Couple that with men taking any excuse to touch you — as if they somehow need to feel your waist as they pass by — and she’s put off by the notion. But after Kioko everything changed. She discovered an affinity for curvaceous figures that had been buried deep within her psyche. Zipper thought she was jealous of those women for having a body she didn’t. It only dawned on her recently she was jealous she couldn’t have those bodies in a different, more naked way. Hands grabbed her clothes and hair and before she had the wherewithal to cover her mouth, a soft “Nnhg-uh…” escaped her lips. She slammed her hands against her mouth so loudly it sounded like a slap. It hurt like one, too. Eyeing this beauty, Zipper realized what she had been resting her face on and immediately wanted a second eternity in her bosom. Without thinking — as if she’s ever had a thought when in the presence of a tall, hot goth — she uncovered her mouth. “Kei, please leave the room,” Then, unintentionally whispering loud enough for Kei to hear. “ I’m ready to become a woman…”

“It’s very gay…” Zipper’s face is flush. “To meet… me?” She points to herself with one hand as the other shakes Kaida’s. They maintain contact for eternity until Kaida eventually breaks off to speak to Jun. Hand still out, heart still pounding… Doki.Doki. Doki. Zipper faints.

Zipper stormed into Kei’s room, slamming the door behind her. At this point in their relationship — one-sided and impromptu — she was making herself too comfortable. If it wasn’t for publicly humiliating herself as a lesbian, word of which by the way traveled so fast, then people might have thought her trying to steal him from the girlfriend Kei fabricated. She throws herself onto his pillows and stuffs her face into his pillows. Let’s ignore the red flags that were in his room. If this were the interior of his mind, then she had a lot of work to do. Convincing him to switch courses was hard enough as is, but even harder was getting him to admit he wanted to be a hero. A tall task riddled with cope and cowardice on his end. But today was about something different. “Kei,” Zipper's voice was muffled from Kei's pillow. “Why are women so friggin' beautiful?”

It was difficult to tell when Kioko was annoyed. A scowl found its home on her face years ago, and any deviation only seemed to amplify her displeasure. To Zipper's relief, it seemed the flowers were the source this time. A thud resonated through the air marking the beginning of her trial — cleaning a graveside that belonged not to her parents, but another’s. And though the dissonance made her want to resist, being told what to do by a pretty, authoritative girl was like balm to her frazzled soul. “Zipper,” She didn’t hesitate to get started. Between running a convenience store and managing hero students, she quickly adopted a ‘get to work’ mindset. Even though there was little work to be done, Zipper was diligent in her task. The only thing that could distract her from the voluptuous figure behind her was the monotonous rhythm of labor. Her intrusive thoughts concocted more than a few terrible angles to prompt conversation. Bringing up her own dead parents would be a faux pas. And despite Zipper’s delusions, she could take a hint — Kioko wasn’t interested. Penance. A small, granule of hope hid deep in her psyche, thinking this was some elaborate courtship before being whisked away to her manor. However, she abandoned those wanton fantasies with a soft, momentary smile. “Sorry,” It’s all she could muster. And despite wanting to say more, the tone of her voice implying more to be said, she said nothing.

Zipper doesn’t get the luxury of an answer. Before the moment could pass, before Jun could deflect — like any good person would — someone pulled her by her collar. Her voice cuts out weakly, having spoken too loud in her panic. Falling limp, she lets herself get dragged stumbling to regain her balance as she turns to see the culprit. Love at first sight. Again. She wasn’t as tall as Kioko but she was tall enough, towering over Zipper so that she had to tilt her head upward to make eye contact. There’s a wall between them. Not in any literal sense but part of this girl’s allure with the aloof, distanced position she put herself in, even when extending her hand to a friend. “Sorry,” She chokes, rubbing her throat. Then, she offers her hand, hearts in her eyes, ready to run away with her at the drop of a raffle ticket. “I’m ga— I’m Zipper.” Christ. Already fumbling. “Very gay to meet you.” Fuck.

Zipper should’ve gone over to the group. It was one thing to intrude on a few friends, but it was another to put yourself at the center of a mob and exchange contact information with everyone. She was far enough to hear bits and pieces of the conversation, but nothing coherent — not with everyone talking all at once. Even now, she held herself back on the account of avoiding Jun. She was not ready for that headache. But, of course, with her back turned to the group, following her nose at the delectable scents wafting her toward the nearest confectionary station, Jun bumps into her. More than a bump, Jun tackled Zipper and almost brought her to the ground along with the weight of a comically large raffle bag. Zipper’s already yapping a storm before Jun collects herself. “Hey sorry I’m not gay Okay wait I am gay but I’m not gay for you Not that there’s anything wrong with you You’re not my type but It’s a me thing really Well it’s actually a Kioko thing I didn’t even know I liked girls until I met her and now I’m in love with her Not you so —” Zipper’s face is the reddest a face has ever been in the history of all things to have ever existed. “A RAFFLE FOR WHAT?”

A wheelie? Wholly unnecessar— Oof. Zipper didn’t process what had happened until it was too late. The bike slammed back onto the ground, the brakes skidded against the sand, and her grip gave way to the immense force thrusting her off. She flew in the air and landed on a bed of sand that softened her fall. It hurt like all hell, but she’d be able to get up and walk. She stumbled to her feet only for Howie to stick out his middle finger and cover her in the sand again. “Vigis are no good scum.” She blows the sand out her face and looks back at the oncoming horde. No hat in sight, no ride to get her to safety… there’s only one option. Run.Her feet are heavy, the sand is soft, and she’s not in the slightest bit of shape. Heaving for her last breath, ready to pass out with the monsters on her tail, a tall, lanky student steps onto the beach. “Keep running,” He says. “I’ll talk to them.” “What?” “I said run.” The monsters are closing in and Zipper runs.
