| i am revision, the failsafe Firebrand looked aghast at the comment about the little boat he had secured for their operation. "Of course! I specifically picked one that would meet our needs and would not cost us too much."
Loli-pop Danger Girl stepped up beside Retsu and gave her a sly smirk. "Why, doesn't it suit your tastes, princess?"
She laughed and moved to get in but was interrupted by The Gorrillo Bandit flopping into the dinghy and splashing water everywhere. A series of curses followed as she embarked, but after that, the only one pleased with the situation was Gorrillo, who seemed ecstatic to be going for a boat ride.
Upon arriving at the ship, the little boat floated nearby while Firebrand tried several times to get the grappling hook to grab hold of the anchor's massive chain, which then helped them stay secured while they deployed a rope ladder up onto the deck. It was quite the process and likely would have benefitted from some practice beforehand, but it worked out in the end.
"Alright, once on board, secure the crew. Do. Not. Kill. Them. We need them to handle the ship, but that also means that we need them conscious, so don't hurt them too badly. They shouldn't be armed, so just...you know... be gentle."
It was clear who Firebrand was talking to with the last bit.
Once on the deck of the freighter, they'd find themselves face-to-face with a great deal of shipping containers, all of which were locked and secured, but not so secure they couldn't be accessed - especially if they found the ones with proper markings on it.
It also appeared that no one was any the wiser about their presence, but there were two or three people doing something towards the front end of the ship where there was a large open space. What they were up to, however, was a mystery.

| i am revision, the failsafe Firebrand grinned when Retsu asked how they'd be going about the heist, then tapped the backs of his fingers against the map. "Simple, we're going to commandeer the vessel."
Loli-pop Danger Girl crunched her trademark loli-pop as frustration flared up. "Yeah, but how."
"Also easy," Firebrand reiterated by tapping the map again. "A ship like this typically has some twenty or more people as part of the crew. Since it's just sitting out in the bay doing nothing, there's only half a dozen around. Best part is none of them are there and happy to be there. They won't put up a fight, and when we take them hostage they'll be plenty willing to make the ship move to where we need it to go, so long as they get to go home later."
"So, we dun get ta beat up anyone?" Gorrillo lamented.
"If they don't comply, yeah, you get to beat them up."
The answer seemed to suffice for the big man and he remained calm. Loli-pop, however, didn't seem to pleased with the plan. She clearly believed a toddler could have come up with the plan, but taking hostages was simple.
"You expectin' us to swim out there?" She demanded.
"No, no, no. Of course not! I have a boat outside that we can use to get there under the cover of night!" Firebrand made a flourish with his hands towards the end of his statement. He was clearly taken in by the theatrics of the impending situation.
"To make things even easier..." he hushed his voice and leaned in over the table a bit while sliding a photo out onto the table. It showed a pink teddybear sitting atop a little cloud "If we can find crates or containers marked with this symbol, they have illegal weapons and equipment in them, and I am told if one or two went missing, or happened to be used in the course of the operation, no one would mind. So let's consider that a bonus for us."
Loli-pop seemed pleased with that bit of information. A bonus was good. Weapons were good. It'd make it easier, safer. Gorrillo was just happy to see the picture and tried to take it from Firebrand, but he snatched it back before it could disappear.
"If no one has anymore questions, I say we get a move on."
Firebrand had taken the liberty of securing an inflatable raft suitable to seat them all, but far from comfortably. It was also powered by a small motor. It'd be enough to get them to the ship, but it'd be slow and bumpy at best.
At least the payout would be good.

| i am revision, the failsafe "So, I have a plan..." A steely-eyed, middle-aged man stated with mixed degrees of confidence. "We'll manage to pull this off without trouble so long as we all follow the plan."
Firebrand, a mercenary with salt-and-pepper hair, a finely pointed beard, and a fiery temperament as hot as the flames he generates from his finger tips, laid out a hand-drawn map suitable for a middle-schooler, but functional.
He was not alone in the dark corner of an abandoned warehouse used as the meeting room. A slightly younger woman with plenty of tattoos named Loli-pop Danger Girl, lived up to her name with a trademark loli-pop, a delinquent attitude, and a penchant for violence with blunt objects leaned up against the overturned cable spool they were using as a table and let out an unimpressed huff. Her quirk allowed her to convert sugar into bubbles that'd pop into sticky substances that required great strength to escape from.
"You make this?" A young, broad-shouldered man with more traps than neck, asked. "I like it."
The Gorrillo Bandit, very much like a gorilla, stood out with a wide forehead, jaw like a cinder block, and suspiciously long arms that looked plenty capable of bending steel beams up like plastic straws, was certainly pleased with the work of artistic genius that Firebrand had put down. He attempted to pick it up, but Firebrand slapped his fingers away with a little fire.
"Yes, I made it, and it is going to help us do what we were hired for," Firebrand replied. "We're going to steal a ship."
But those three were not the only ones in attendance. A final member of the party had been gathered. Bakiri Retsu, a mercenary like the others, had been hired to steal a ship belonging to a struggling company recently acquired in a massive swathes of merges by an over-sees company.
The company left the freighter and plenty of valuable goods sitting just off the coast with little more than a skeleton crew and no guards. Stealing it, and everything aboard, should be a cinch.
Little did they know that the company had just come under the ownership of Mhairi Global, and one of their representatives was already on the way to deal with the ship and the various goods it hauled, many of which were not accurately represented by the labels on their crates, and were far deadlier than children's toys they were purported to be...

| i am revision, the failsafe Rebel wracked her brain for answers. The box was nowhere to be seen. It wasn't in the truck, it wasn't just invisible, and it certainly wasn't with the new person - hero? - that had showed up, either. Where else could it be?
There was only one other place she needed to check, and that was the armored vehicle, so she rushed off to see if it somehow ended up back where it was before. It didn't make sense, but one could never be too careful.
She knew she had to be quick, too. Metalhead was taking longer than she'd like and from a quick glance it wasn't going to be over quick, perhaps not even in her favor. Rebel cursed and hopped into the back of the armored truck to look for the box before it was too late.
Iceman wasn't doing much better than Metalhead, either. His attack had been turned back against him, something he'd never experienced before. It had been quite terrifying to say the least and his panic was growing.
"R-Rebel! What do I do!?"
But there was no reply.
He bit at his fingernails and stared down Revision who began slowly making her way towards him. There wasn't really anything else to do. He knelt down and placed his hands to the pavement. Ice radiated outward, then burst up into a massive ice formation intent on skewering the newcomer but the moment it reached her it vanished like it never existed in the first place.
"What..."
Iceman didn't have it in him to continue. He could tell he was outclassed. He got to his feet and did the only sane thing that came to mind. He ran. He ran as fast as he could in the opposite direction. Rebel and Metalhead could deal with that monster.
He ran as fast as he could, but suddenly he was face-to-face with the strange masked woman again. "Huh?"
She rammed a fist into his abdomen and he could only speculate at the damage before his mind went blank from shock. Iceman coughed up blood and doubled over, rendered rather unfit to continue.
Revision looked down at him and then over at the two fighting on the other side of the armored truck. A hero was already on site. This was not ideal. She raised her phone and sent a quick text message.
Send recovery. Problem will be resolved.
And so Revision would solve the problem. Rebel hopped out of the back of the truck with the box in her hands and saw that Iceman had been defeated.
"Give me the box," Revision demanded.
"Hah, no!" Rebel shouted back, but seeing Iceman down was not promising, so she did the next best thing she could.
Rebel placed a hand to the pavement like Iceman did and the entire overpass began to melt and give way. The trucks began sinking, Iceman's fallen body became entirely submerged, and it looked like Revision was going to be going down with it, leaving Rebel and her get away vehicle safe to escape.
Revision sighed and reached into her coat with one hand and pulled out a handgun while she sunk like it was a tarpit. "You brought this upon yourself."
Revision reset the pavement back to how it was and Rebel back into a standing position. Like Iceman, it caught her off guard, and the bullet slammed into her chest a moment later and rocked her off her feet. It wasn't an imminently lethal shot, but it would put her out of commission for a moment.
With Rebel down, Revision restored her bullet back to her handgun and re-holstered it, leaving no evidence of the new crime.
With that taken care of, it left just the hero and Metalhead, but they could keep each other occupied, or so Revision figured - but it was unlikely the morale of the metal man would hold up after his friends fell in battle. It might be enough of an advantage for Leonid to push for a clean win.
Revision knelt down and plucked the box from Rebel's hands she she cursed and winced in pain.
"You had your chance," Revision reminded her, then hit her with a taser before restoring her wounds so she didn't bleed out then and there.
With the box recovered, it was time to leave. Anything else could be left to the police - but the contents of that box were not something that her employers wanted in the hands of anyone else.

Kamiya Nadeshiko I shall subvert this unwanted reality
and replace it with one of my own design
| i am revision, the failsafe Revision let the phantom say his part and depart before she turned around to address everyone else. "He is right about much of what he says, but he is short-sighted, maybe a little narrow-minded about his idea of war."
"Maybe a soldier, or some officer of some sort. He could potentially lead you to victory if you chose to fight the heroes, but he will never hold on to victory, because like you, he lacks something that the heroes do not - a unified vision."
Revision looked around, giving a little more attention to her underlings, Chuck and Rui, than to others, but she did make a mental note of everyone she could see. It may be useful to remember what faces she could see now.
"Heroes exist primarily for one of two reasons," she held up two fingers. "The most obvious is that they want to protect society, and those that feel that way tend to believe in a similar idea of what society should be. The other reason is for fame and money, it is a job for them, but they still have a similar concept of society."
"The people they protect believe in a generally uniform idea of what is right and wrong, what they want and need are similar things, and because of that, they live within their society without conflict."
She let a pause linger for a moment. "Despite all of us gathering here, I doubt more than one or two share a vision of what they wish society would be. Therein lies your problem."
"You can unit under the banner of defeating the heroes, but once you have done that, only one vision can be established, one new society. What happens when that society isn't the one you want? What happens when the only person that wants that new society is the person who led you to victory?"
"Claiming victory over the heroes is one thing, but holding on to that victory is an entirely different problem. Society will reject you. Your one-time allies will reject you. Soon, you will stand alone again, and that is why there will be no war."
"Give up those foolish ambitions, or you will undoubtedly end up as my enemy. I assure you, you do not want that."
And then in the blink of an eye she was gone. No puff of smoke, no bending of light, no nothing. Just gone, like she was never even there... | TITLE: The Vestibule TAGS: Event PROFILE: Revision |

| i am revision, the failsafe Leonid's presence is a surprise to the trio. They had expected resistance from the guards which had been dealt with according to the plan, and they had anticipated potential interference from heroes, too. However, nothing so quick. It could certainly throw a wrench into their plans, but Rebel seemed confident enough despite that.
"Wh- But it's already ringing?!" Iceman lamented when Leonid informed them it'd be a waste of time.
Rebel stared Leonid down from the back of the truck and then snapped at her frigid companion. "Just find out what we need to know. Metalhead, you take care of furball."
The bulky metal man processed the order for a good three seconds and then smiled. "Aw'right, can do that, boss."
Rebel turned back to the contents of the truck and rummaged about while Metalhead lumbered towards Leonid. "Gonna get some ice cream after I'm done with ya."
He smashed his fists together to create a loud metallic clank and then bullrushed Leonid. While not the fastest around, the big metal guy proved rather speedy despite his bulk.
Metalhead let out a fierce warcry and went in for the tackle.
Iceman nervously paced back and forth outside the truck, muttering to someone on the phone, but eventually rushed to the back of the truck. "He says it's a small box with a fancy lock on it. Big enough to fit a bunch of paper into."
Rebel looked around a bit and found a suspicious-looking box in short order and pulled it out. "I think I found it. Uh... what's this symbol?"
"He says it's marked with uhm... a biohazard symbol!"
"What!?" Rebel practically dropped the box. "We aren't getting paid enough for that. Ugh! Whatever, I have it. Let's go before I sprout another arm or something."
She hopped out of the armored truck and tucked the box under one arm. With that secured, she began jogging towards their get-away truck. "Time to go!"
It was the signal for Metalhead to rejoin them, but he was likely tied up fighting the veteran hero to keep him at bay. He wanted to go, and it provided ample distraction as his brain processed what he should do.
Rebel opened the door to the truck and was about to get inside when the box suddenly vanished from her arm. It took a moment for her to register what had happened, but it clicked quickly enough.
"What the f-?"
"That doesn't belong to you, I'm afraid."
Rebel and Iceman turned to face another individual. A young woman with a rather lazy and slouched posture, unremarkable in pretty much every way, slowly approached them.
"I suggest you leave, rather than continue with this course of action," Revision stated in a firm tone. "This is not a battle you wish to fight."
"Aggghh!" Rebel was about ready to rip her own hair out in frustration. "Ice! J-just ice her or something, I don't know, do whatever it is you do!"
Revision tipped her head slightly as Iceman held his hands out and unleashed a storm of icy projectiles in her direction.
"Unwise..."
As the ice arrived at her position, the immediately reversed and fired back towards Iceman, many bursting apart in splinters and shards as they impacted other projectiles still on their way, but he was promptly forced to evade his own ice while Rebel began searching for the box - unfortunately, she had no idea where it went...

Kamiya Nadeshiko I shall subvert this unwanted reality
and replace it with one of my own design
| i am revision, the failsafe Until the gunshot rang out in the room, she had remained silent, sequestered away in the back and away from the rest. Dubious about the meeting from the beginning, but obligated to see it out. Skeptical about the others that had come and joined, but willing to hear them out because of necessity.
But that gunshot, it roused her.
She stepped out of the shadows in the back, posture slouched slightly, hands stuffed into the pocket of her coat, and head tipped slightly askew as if it was too much of a pain to hold aloft. There wasn't much to her, but one thing stuck out due to its bright silver lettering down her left leg:
REVISION
One didn't look at her and see a threat, and that suited her well enough, but those with a nose for it would know that this woman is a killer - and a very accomplished one at that.
She waited long enough for the strange man with the gun to finish, and for the mouthy girl to brandish her words in response, and then spoke up.
"There won't be a war."
She let that hang in the air for a moment. "You criticize and you patronize - you speak like you know some truth that is evident only to you, and if that is the case, then it is a useless truth."
Revision approached the phantom in bandages with a slow and deliberate gait. "The war you speak of serves no one but those who lust after death, suffering, and destruction. It does not change society for the better, it does not improve society, it merely causes chaos."
"Violence will do you no good. It will not lead to any meaningful victory," Revision paused when she felt she had come close enough and turned to the man who had been shot. In the blink of an eye, Revision's influence restored his hand to how it was before he had been injured. He was free to stay, to leave, to do whatever he wished so long as he did not cause further trouble - and if he tried, the full weight of Revision's Samsara would crash down upon him, inverting every movement in upon itself, resetting every action, and leaving him utterly vulnerable before everyone assembled.
"If you want to change the world, you need a revolution of ideals. You need to make the current society so unappealing that the masses will turn to anyone able to offer them something better," She turned back to Mr. Phantom. "That is the only war worth fighting, and there's no one here to fight it."
She exhaled sharply, as if amused. "Certainly not you."

Kamiya Nadeshiko I shall subvert this unwanted reality
and replace it with one of my own design
| i am revision, the failsafe Routine deliveries. One after another. That was the job.
Pick up the stuff, secure it in the truck, and take it to wherever it needed to go. Don't think about it. Don't ask questions. Don't look at the people, don't peek in the boxes, bags, or envelopes, and most certainly, forget anything and everything about what you do and see.
Nothing too special. Good pay, good benefits, generally quite easy.
But life doesn't care about making things nice and easy. It doesn't care at all. The single driver of the armored delivery truck, some five years into the gig, never had a problem. It had been boring, quiet, and peaceful. That all ended in the blink of an eye as a massive block of ice suddenly jutted up from the pavement on the overpass and smashed the engine block right back into the cab. The airbags never even had a chance to deploy, not that it'd have done any good.
It had been over so quickly.
As traffic stalled and attempted to re-route, and those good samaritans that happened to be around called for first responders, the ice crept up and over the burning and smoking husk of the truck and snuffed out the fire, but the black smoke still billowed out.
Another truck pulled up behind it and two individuals hopped out, while a third moved to join them from near the ice.
"Sucks to be them," A woman with bright red hair, a plethora of tattoos, and an outright bad attitude commented.
Rebel. She's a lowlife villain with a penchant for violence, bloodshed, and grand larceny. There's nothing more she likes than pain, except perhaps money. With her quirk that melts substances she comes into contact with she had broken into more than one strongbox or bank in her time, and was unlikely to quit unless forced.
"It was a quick stop, wasn't it?" Iceman, one of her partners replied. "My timing is getting better."
The blue-skinned man laughed, expelling foggy breath as the cold air mixed with the heat of summer. His quirk is no secret. He creates ice from the tips of his fingers and can use it to cover the surface of anything he touches - and more.
As those two bantered, the third member of their crew, an absolute hulk of a man who had to sit in the bed of the truck rather than inside, made his way to the back of the armored truck and took hold of the handles. Metalhead, whose quirk converts his entire mass into metal, adjusted his body to steel and ripped the doors open with a grunt.
He was greeted by gunshots which merely ricocheted off of his skin. One of the two guards inside had managed to draw a sidearm and attempted to fend him off, but it didn't help. Metalhead closed his hand around the guard's head and yanked him from the truck, and then tossed the guard like a ragdoll up and over the edge of the overpass.
"How's the haul?" Rebel asked as she tapped an electric baton against her shoulder.
"I'on't know, boss," Metalhead rumbled. "I'on't see no cash."
"What?!" Rebel shouted. "Get out of my way, there has to be something! Why have a truck if there is nothing valuable?"
Rebel pushed past Metalhead and slunk inside while her large friend pulled the remaining guard out and flung them back into the street in a heap. She didn't find anything obvious, at least not that she could use.
"Ice - call the contact. Find out why this was valuable and we need to take. This just has a lot of useless junk in it!"
Time would be limited. Authorities would eventually show up. If they wanted to make it out of there with the goods, they needed to know what to take. The only problem that remained for them was that they didn't know just how much trouble they were going to be in.
Stealing from Mhairi Global was not a wise decision, because when their assets - or profit - was negatively impacted, they sent in the Failsafe, and their track record for problem solving remained pristine.

| i am revision, the failsafe "Yes, security," Revision replied sternly. "We defend assets, keep them safe from others, and occasionally, deal with hostile threats. Whether you are capable right now or not is irrelevant. You can be trained, at minimum, to defend yourself."
As Rui unraveled herself and wrapped her arm up, Revision tipped her head slightly. It was a rather unsightly quirk, at least in a way, and not one that a squeamish individual would be excited about. Rui's exuberance was endearing, and promising - as was the results of the quirk.
Revision held her arm up to look over the once-wounded area and grinned faintly.
Rui's quirk was certainly what Revision needed for her team. However, Rui had a few drawbacks that would need to be addressed - if at all possible. Revision pinched the bridge of her nose as she considered that.
"You're right, it is cool," she answered after a moment, then her expression turned darker, and her voice harsh. "It is sufficient that I am interested, however, if you are to accept my offer, you will need to follow instructions, rules, and my orders as necessary. There may come a time when you are subjected to danger and may have to defend yourself and others. If those terms are unacceptable, then we are through."
She let that hang in the air for a moment. "If you think you can handle that, then we shall be able to continue our conversation."

| i am revision, the failsafe It was, in fact, the one and only.
Revision was waiting outside underneath an awning. To a casual observer, she seemed to be drawn up in reading a newspaper, but someone more observant would see she had an eye on a building down the street. Chuck's appearance on site, though, drew her away from that and she folded the newspaper up.
"Thank you for joining me," Revision replied as she turned towards the door and slipped inside ahead of him.
The join isn't something so fancy that it eschewed the seat yourself approach to hosting, so Revision found a seat near a window. Coincidentally or otherwise, it maintained a view down the street to the building she had been watching earlier.
"If you're planning to order something, make it quick. Appetizer or something that won't take long," Revision picked up a menu and gave it a quick once-over. "We have work to do tonight."
She set the menu aside and waited for a server to come along, but in the meantime, gave Chuck a critical look. It'd be the first actual mission she took him on, and she hoped that he would be up to the task. It wouldn't be tremendously difficult, and certainly not dangerous for either of them, but it would require some coordination that the Chuck she initially met might not have possessed.

| i am revision, the failsafe "My employer provides security solutions for a number of clients," Revision replied. A normal individual would understand that did not mean just security, but likely some rather illegal problem solving, but Rui wasn't normal. "It is dangerous, and thus requires a specific set of skills."
"The documents I received on you are incomplete, but suggest that you possess a potentially useful quirk," Revision gave her a suspicious once-over and then flicked a knife into her hand and twirled it between her fingers. "So, your test is to prove to me that your usefulness is worth my time."
Nadeshiko wasn't keen on injuring herself, but she took the knife and put a small cut along the back of her forearm. Healing others was no concern for Nadeshiko, so long as they were within the realm of her quirk's influence when their injury occurred. She, however, was not included in that, and had resigned herself to being unable to heal her own injuries.
Perhaps Rui could solve her problem.

Kamiya Nadeshiko I shall subvert this unwanted reality
and replace it with one of my own design
| i am revision, the failsafe Many people think that the life of a villain is hiding in holes, creeping in the dark, and causing trouble. While they aren't wrong, there's a lot more to it than just that. Villains are still human (usually) and do human things, like go shopping for food so that they may survive to cause trouble and lurk in the shadows later on. Calling Kamiya Nadeshiko a villain might be a bit of a stretch, though. Sure, she is no hero. She is no vigilante, either. But she's not necessarily out to cause trouble. She doesn't ascribe to any particular philosophy, nor does she choose sides between heroes and villains. She's equally likely to work with either or face off against them. She merely follows the orders of her corporate masters. She had recently finished a shift as a member of Black Rose Security Solutions and was awaiting a new assignment. In the meantime, she had decided to go out and run some errands, including grabbing a bite to eat. Though she had left most of her equipment behind, she still wore her Black Rose uniform, a tailor-fit set up that didn't necessary look civilian, but because of its partly see-through nature didn't have the corporate black ops look, either. Nadeshiko cut through a park and made her way towards a nearby sushi joint, a place she had eaten at once or twice. Even though the day had been quite normal, she had no idea that things were about to get out of hand. And a few others didn't have any idea what it would mean to get tangled up with someone like Revision... | |

Revision paused for a moment when Rui asked her if she was going to give her a ring. Normally, it'd be a stupid reply, or at least a sarcastic one, but Rui was drunk and, per her dossier, not the brightest. Revision could work around that like she did with Chuck, but it always took a moment to get used to it. " No, not a ring. I'm not asking you on a date," Revision flicked a business card up between her index and middle finger and tipped it towards Rui. " A job offer, actually." Revision looked Rui over now that she was 'standing' and shook her head. She really should have waited until another time, though, there was a chance that it didn't get better than this. Someone who got absolutely hammered in a park, played an instrument they didn't know how to play, and believed they were worthy of such praise may continue to do so on a daily basis. " However..." She gestured at Rui with her other hand. " You're not exactly as impressive as I had hoped based on the information I had received from my bosses. It is a dangerous job, so I need to be sure you can handle it. If you're drunk all the time, then I doubt that will be the case." Rui Matsui

Nadeshiko looked down at the phone she held and compared the image on the screen with the drunken girl on the ground some distance away. She scrolled down the screen and checked a few details provided by her employer and then scratched at her forehead. Was this really the one they had suggested she look into? She stuffed the phone into a pocket on her coat and pulled a simple mask free from a different one and fit it to her face. Even if there was no one around, it didn't pay to take unnecessary risks, and if things didn't work out with Matsui Rui, then Nadeshiko would have to cut ties and disappear. Not revealing her identity early would work in her favor. After Rui finished her song, Nadeshiko approached. At a first glance, she may look like someone out for a jog. A patterned sports bra, bare midriff, skintight leggings, and sneakers fit the look, but the mask set her apart from the normal athletic folk that might pass through. " Matsui Rui," Nadeshiko called out in a firm tone. " On your feet." She wasn't asking. No one asked in a tone like that. They commanded it. Nadeshiko tipped her head back and to the side slightly as if looking down upon the drunken mess at her feet. " I have a proposal for you, and I will not give it to you if you cannot stand." Rui Matsui
