Of course it's the way I came in, it's ALWAYS the way I came in. Skylark shifted and pooled beneath Levi's right sleeve as she waited for his next command. Just because it was the fastest didn't mean it was going to be the easiest. He took a moment to enjoy his two-second breather as Kioko gave him a run-down of the bar's exits.[break][break]
With the masses battling to the death in the makeshift mosh pit, the front door was hardly a viable option. The fire exit provided more cover but was equally as guarded and no doubt would take the longest. That only left...[break][break]
In a 'Blink-and-you'd-miss-it' moment, Kioko went down before Levi could confirm his plan to her. Dammit... He turned, as a group of three to five bobbling heads drunkenly swung fists haphazardly at each other in his set path. No going around... Decent chance to go through if I wanna get decked... Unless...[break][break]
Skylark rippled as if opposed to his thought as he turned his back to the attackers. Come on girl, it's a good plan! Nearly reluctantly, thin pools of purple nanotech split away, creating a thin layer of liquid metal along Levi's back. Under his right and left sleeves, two shotgun-like barrels appeared as Levi took a deep breath.[break][break]
"Alright Levi... YEET!"[break][break]
The sound of Skylark's *putt... putt... POW* as air entered the dual chambers was thankfully drowned out by the ruckus as Levi lept into the air simultaneously. The air fired from the concealed shotgun blasts had been enough to force his body backward, crashing through the brawling mass on his way to the employee exit. He swung an elbow out for good measure, the crunching sound of a nose shattering granting him immediate satisfaction. Well, until his back hit the bar and he didn't stop.[break][break]
Levi landed head over heels as bottles of alcohol fell freely from their shelving, crashing to the ground around him in a mix of glass and booze. Whiskey poured over his face as he turned, slightly in a daze, to see the bartender cowering behind the bar. A shocked look graced his face as he stared down Levi.[break][break]
"Hey! Lemons really do drop, huh?" He swore the bartender looked like he might faint as he rose to the ground. Where the hell was Kioko?[break][break]
Probably behind the table that just got thrown through the air. She doesn't have super strength, does she? Did she work out in prison?? He dismissed the thought as he waved his hand, attempting to signal her through the mass of knocked-down bodies.[break][break]

He couldn't let his position be given away, but he'd be in direct line of sight if he stayed where he was. He took cover behind a chimney pouring grey steam into the sky. Skylark began forming in his hands, fully this time, as a small stream led herself down to the freely available steel at Levi's feet. Miniature nanobots began disassembling, chewing away at the metal as grey liquid flowed back upstream into the rifle's chamber.[break][break] Did Nox get them into... yup, there he is. Looks kinda funny with his arms raised like that... Oh shit, Americans, that's my cue.[break][break] Levi focused his scope, moving from Nox's hands to the first cop immediately beyond his shoulder. The radio clipped to his belt would provide the first portion of tonight's entertainment. Levi's voice flickered through the comms, using Nox's earpiece as a relay to hijack every radio on the rooftop.[break][break] *"Hey boys. Do ya like jazz?"* On cue, every radio began blasting music at its maximum volume, some overloading their speakers. The few cops unfortunate enough to be wearing earpieces quickly lost composure, attempting to tear them out at the sheer noise. Two more points broke free, coating the toes of his boots as Levi fell to his knees and twisted round to face the dragon. Plan B, of course, was escape.[break][break] Relying on Skylark to carry his momentum, her sniper form melted in his hands. It became thicker, shorter, and wider as a double-barreled shotgun appeared where the rifle once rested. Yet he would not be firing shotgun shells into the night. Instead, the soft **Putt... Putt... POW** of air could be heard building in both chambers before releasing fired into the ground behind Levi. The blast had been enough to launch him forward, narrowly missing the thrown chair before speeding past the dragon's summoned demon cat.[break][break] *"Why do you want to save a chair?"* [break] *"I don't! It just threw a chair at me!"*[break][break] *"It... threw a chair? No, that's not right. She shouldn't be acting like that... You feeling alright girl? Despite the nanotech neither feeling anything nor being a girl, Levi still referred to her as such. A freelancer's line of work became lonely, and as what felt like an extension of his own body, she made for good conversation... Even if it was usually only one-sided. Mentally, he reached out again, maintaining his connection with Skylark, but only just. She felt sluggish, throttled... Like she was calling out to him but her voice was muted but present. No, no, this isn't right at all...[break][break]
The kid pressed, moving closer to the vehicle as Levi moved Skylark deeper out of sight. At least she could still hear him, even if she wasn't able to do much in her condition. "Uhh.. Nah, I think I got this! I used to work on cars back home!" He didn't. He rooted around the engine, rubbing his hand over the top of the engine block as Skylark worked deeper into the metal.[break][break]
"Yuuup. This here's a... Big horsepower... hemiweight... catalytic... transfusion engine... It needs the right touch to get going when it's down like this! Can't just jump the battery!" He feigned a smile, believing that the girl believed him, even if he had no indication to know so. He just needed to get her gone.[break][break]
Still, his skills were not in the field of mechanics, but rather in technology. Triggering a manual killswitch wasn't too hard a task for him, but that assumed Skylark performed well enough to find it. I guess it couldn't hurt if she's gonna stand here anyway...[break][break]
"Ya ever work on a car like this? If you have any ideas on how to start it, I wouldn't mind seeing what a young car mechanic like yourself is capable of! Maybe I'll even hire you for my shop back home!"[break][break]

"Alright.. case... case... If I were a case of books in a library, where would I be...?" Levi began pulling books from the bookshelf under the stairs, forcefully setting them on the ground with the assistance of gravity. Skylark began pooling herself around his hand, liquid metal reaching out to each book as an extension of his body to aid in his search. "Is it behind the books? Ooo! Maybe one of the books is like a secret lever!" He scanned the books, finding the biggest, heaviest one before pulling it away gently...[break][break]
Before watching gravity relieve the book of its position, dragging it to the ground with the others. "Stupid librarian, how am I supposed to hide if he can't even..."[break][break]
His train of thought broke as a small, skinlike dagger pierced the book next to his head. "Eeep!" He turned, staring down BFT's two goons as they rounded the corner. The smaller of the two leaned low to the ground, his skin molding into his hand as another dagger appeared. "Frankly... that's disgusting."[break][break]
He had to think fast if he was going to escape. Libraries were woefully lacking in tech, and that which they did have wouldn't suit him much purpose. He also couldn't necessarily go firing a sniper rifle in a library, lest he immediately give away his position to every cop in a two-block radius. Still... Skylark began forming in his right hand, a thicker and stockier appearance than usual as a shorter gun appeared in his hand. Remnants of the liquid dripped to the floor, coating the soles of his shoes to compensate for friction as he aimed the double-barreled shotgun behind himself. "Yeet!"[break][break]
The air-powered blast from the shotgun was nearly silent, save for a soft 'pop'. The force, however, had been enough to propel Levi forward, granting a much-needed headstart on his escape through the shelves. A blast of air impacted the pile of books left behind on the ground, exploding a stream of paper into the air. Neat, extra cover![break][break]
Brute Force Trauma offered a smile as the Librarian seemed to succumb to his fate. "Playin' dumb yeah?" His fist balled up tight, the faint smell of steam filling the air as two vents seemed to appear on his right elbow. "Ya know, they don't call me Blunt Force Trauma for nothing! You're coming with me scum, like it or not!"[break][break]
The screaming sound of what could only be described as a 1940s steam whistle released from the man's arm, as his fist flew effortlessly through the air toward's Rei's face.

Didn't really have any intention to either at this point.[break][break] Kioko's moves were graceful, easily dispatching the approaching brawler with a stool before delivering a step that would cause the gods above to cry out. Instead, they were left with the whimpering of this poor fool as blood flowed from the open wound in Kioko's wake.[break][break] A third, gangly fighter made his way into their path, the lessons he clearly should have learned having little to no merit as he raised his arm to strike. "Fine, you want a path??" Levi switched his grip on the pool cue as though he were about to throw a javelin. He pulled his arm back, out of Kioko's line of sight, as a thin ring of Skylark wrapped herself around the makeshift projectile. His own force wouldn't be enough to launch the cue with any purpose, but she could surely help with that.[break][break] He 'threw' the cue, Skylark propelling the cue to bullet-like speeds as it found purchase in the man's shoulder. Muscle and sinew tore as the force behind the weapon pulled him back, colliding with the jukebox as the cue pinned him to the wall. His wails drowned beneath the sound of a record scratching on Kioko's preferred song ( Nice touch Levi). Blood dripped down the Jukebox's screen as a more fitting song began to play.[break][break] "Alright, you want an exit and then you'll talk to me? Deal. What's the fastest way outta here?" Alright Levi, standard car engine, no electric start, shouldn't be anything too major. You've done this before, you can do it again... Just gotta find the manual killswitch... Levi leaned deeper into the hood of the car, resting his hand on the engine block as a small stream of Skylark poured her way into the mass of metal. Car makers were honestly quite rude. Hiding vital electrical components deep within vehicles, burying them behind useless components that probably had more value than he was willing to assign to them. It's gotta be in here somewhere... just a little deeper and...[break][break]
The shrill voice of an intruder caught him completely off guard. With an Englishly-exclaimed "SHIT!" he rose, ramming the back of his head into the bottom of the car's hood. Skylark quickly broke away from the safety of his sleeve, retreating deeper into the engine block to hide her presence from the newcomer.[break][break]
"Jesus, what the HELL was THAT for?!" He turned, hand against the back of his head as he stared down the intruder but found that his gaze met no one... Well, not until he looked down at least. He glanced up at the empty sky, certain the voice that startled him came from a much larger presence before immediately looking at the girl again. Is this a literal child? With no time to try to remember child curfew laws in Japan, Levi attempted to salvage the situation.[break][break]
"I... What I got here is a..." He would have said wrench or something, but truth be told, he didn't know a damn thing about cars. You rarely had to know anything about them to make them start! "I got a broken-down car that I'm trying to fix! I want to get out of this parking lot!" He smiled internally. You're nailing this Levi. Just start the car and you don't gotta deal with the kid anymore![break][break]
He placed his right hand on the engine block again, rooting his left hand around the engine compartment to put on a show of car repair. In reality, he had reconnected with Skylark as she slowly filtered her way deeper into the car until, for the briefest of moments, his connection to Skylark flickered.[break][break]

"Oh shit, English!" Levi exclaimed in his natural voice as he learned two important notes today. The first was that the Librarian could speak English, expanding his capability for multitasking as he wouldn't need to focus on the walkie-talkie anymore. The second was that Japan had a DMV! He could get a proper ID! Save that one away for later Levi, might come in handy at some point![break][break]
The man seemed almost hesitant to point out a decent place for Levi to hide before his arm trailed off to a nearby bookcase offering refuge. "Thanks, you're a real one! Also will this work?" As Levi turned to make his grand escape, he flicked one of his most recent business cards in front of the Librarian's computer: Plain white with barely embossed words exclaiming "Losing Control? Get CTRL!" "I'm probably maybe really gonna need that library card!" He shouted as he ran in the pointed direction.[break][break]
As Levi made his break to the back area, Blunt Force Trauma and his goon squad made their break to the Librarian's desk. "Hey! Are you helping that guy?? Our boss is gonna want a word with him!" Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum broke away from their 'leader', turning over books as though Levi was hiding under them as BFT delivered yet another cliche 'you're coming with me' speech. "Listen, if you're his ally, you're comin' in too. Can't be too safe these days! Just answer me straight and we're good!" His men chuckled, a laugh that implied they might not actually have their hero's licenses just yet.[break][break]
"Hey Library man! There isn't a case of books back here! Just shelves! What am I looking for??"[break][break]
Levi's bad timing couldn't have been any worse as the silent members of the goon squad shifted their gaze, locking onto the sound of Levi's voice. Blunt Force Trauma grinned, reaching his hand out for the Librarian's collar.[break][break]

Levi sat perched on an adjacent building to the bank, watching all of his temporary partner's actions. Skylark's scope had formed from his wrist, the lens pointed over the edge of the building to Nox's location. Her simulated glass fed the image back to Levi, who sat comfortably eating a gas station chili dog and watched the scene play out from behind his eyepatch.[break][break]
Damn, he just waltzed right in... AND took his mask off? God, Japanese FINCHs are so cool![break][break]
It had been a while since Levi had worked as a FINCH. The 'Freelancer's International Network for Contracted Hitmen' had stiffed him on his pay a few years back, almost like he had only half completed the job! Well, the half-completion was only a quarter of the reason, there was also a 37% chance that an eighth of it MIGHT HAVE been his fault... Technically speaking. Still, it was a good resource to have in one's back pocket for when boring days like today needed to be less boring. Plus, despite their name, they were good for making connections with more than just HItmen. Connections with people like Taxi Drivers.[break][break]
*"I hear you Anhinga."* His mouth remained wrapped around his chili dog as his voice passed flawlessly through his commlink. More purple-hued liquid seeped through Levi's jacket as Skylark lazily took form in his right hand, the sniper absentmindedly watching Nox back away from the teller line.[break][break]
Sirens. 2 minutes, 26 seconds. Faster in this part of town. Typical bank jobs asked Levi to go in first, to scrub the cameras and silence the alarms. But this wasn't a typical bank job. The faint aura of electricity-dripping wires filled Levi's gaze as he quickly studied the bank's electrical layout.[break][break]
*"Alright, you've got five major exit points, minus the front doors. Downstairs and behind the teller line are emergency exits: Good for a quick exit, but neither flashy nor incredibly clean."* He adjusted Skylark slightly, moving his vision along the edge of the building. *"Two more egress windows along the south wall. Clean, but loud. I'd wager it'll buy you an extra minute."* His gaze shifted toward the roof.[break][break]

A brief yet present feeling of euphoria washed over Levi's body as the nicotine from his cigarette hit his system. It was as though he was standing on a cloud, sans bar fight. God, what had it been? 20 minutes? Too long. His sheer enjoyment of the filtered tobacco partially blocked his focus as Kioko handily dispatched another newcomer to the fray, a solid palm strike to the nose and the contender was out for the count.[break][break]
The pure joy was immediately ripped away from him as a glass flew into focus. Had it not been for Kioko's movement, it might have found purchase on his own face. "Shit!" Nearly as rude as whoever had thrown the glass were Kioko's words! I mean, she was right! But she didn't have to say it...[break][break]
"Hey, I didn't do any of this! I just wanted a smoke! Haven't you ever lost your lighter before?" He paused. No, of course she hasn't, she doesn't smoke. Come on Levi, you know this! At least she wasn't running away.. well, fully running away yet. "Listen, I just..."[break][break]
An immediate interruption came in the form of a pool cue breaking in half against his back. Levi remained standing for the time being, yet winced in pain as he turned to see the smarmy bastard who thought their actions wise. Skylark rippled around his wrist, called to action before he pulled his focus back to Kioko, or rather, her bracelet. No, I can't let her see you, not yet. In an unknowingly similar manner, Levi reached out to grasp at the man's shirt. A small tendril of Skylark's liquid metal reached out from his cuff to latch onto the man's clothes, pulling him closer as his head jerked backward from momentum. As it corrected to its natural position, the man's forehead collided with Levi's. The faint shimmer of purple liquid dripping back into Levi's collar would be the last thing his pool-stick-wielding assailant would see. Seeing an opportunity, Levi took half of the splintered pool stick from the ground.[break][break]
"Listen, I'm just tryna talk! Do you even see a..." Oh shit, what do journalists have again? Are those the TV ones or the war-torn ones? 50/50 Levi, take a guess. "Camera? In my hands? I promise I'm just here to talk!"[break][break]
And fight, apparently. Although that secondary objective was beginning to take more priority than he had intended.

The reactions Levi garnered from the crowd were exactly what he had been hoping for, but on top of it all someone cheered! The speech hadn't even been given yet and he had already done an outstanding job! The shadowed room hid a smirk that came straight from his ego in response.[break][break]
And that speech! Rousing! Riveting! Every person truly did have a purpose, and what better way for that purpose to begin than an industry mixer? He began patting around the inside of his jacket, excitement playing out through his motions as the lights came back up. A fresh batch to hand out to new clientele? He had only managed to find his small clip of cards before unKnown rushed him in the corner. "Nah, you did great! I couldn't tell at all, you seemed so calm up there! And why wouldn't you? The stage was set perfectly! That one light? I did... YOU DID such a great job!" Levi couldn't possibly resist the opportunity to verbally pat himself on the back. Someone cheered him! "All things considered, I think you're gonna help these guys make some great waves! And look..." He presented a thin, plain white business card to unKnown. "I know ya already tracked us down and all, but give me a call sometime! I LOVE these jobs! I'm gonna pass some of these out and grab some punch, yeah?"[break][break]
His own excitement combined with the distraction of his show covered the chill he should have felt down his spine. Something in the room seemed amiss, even if he wasn't aware of why. A room full of villains, sure, that he got. But this? This was different. This felt like her.[break][break]
Levi pushed forward, passing his business card to every hench, schmuck, and underlord who'd take it, all the while chanting the only words printed on it's face as if it were his motto.[break][break]

See, while others were bargain hunting through bins of last week's clothing looking for the newest fashion trends, Levi had his sights set on a more LUXURIOUS store, one for only the elite of the elite. For Levi, it was like paradise.[break][break] Well, it would have been if the mall hadn't closed two hours prior.
