He had his suspicions, but it was too early to tell. Given the insanity Tokyo had faced over the past few months, anything was really possible. Maybe villains were gunning for hero-students now? What better way to put a stopper on the modern hero system than to dissuade parents from allowing their children to attend?
"Sorry, bud. Comin up wit' nothin over 'ere."
Such were the laws of the land. "Ye shall not depart campus without being attacked by scum and villainy" or something like that. He hadn't an answer for her second question either. The space seemed familiar somehow, but he couldn't place his fingers on where from. Which was all well and good because he had other matters to attend to.
Farrin flushed his hands forward and summoned a field shaped like a large rectangle. His assailant's bullets passed into the field and became nearly still. They were moving, just incredibly slowly. More than enough time for Farrin to act.
"Can't make any promises, lass, but I'll try," he said with the slightest hint of a laugh, then darted forward.
Farrin blitzed the field. He soared on an intercept course with Merodach's probable landing, but the man did something. An ice pillar shot up from the ground and stopped under his foot. He then kicked off the pillar and, at the pinnacle of his jump, fired again at Farrin.
Meanwhile, Machina was tugged upward with Jun. The man's name, not that the students knew it, was quite fitting. His body was mostly covered in odd large mechanisms and metal bits. One arm and the top half of his face were all that appeared "human" still. A reverberating laugh bounced around from behind the mask covering his mouth, and his eyes met Jun.
"Getting ahead of ourselves, aren't we, kid?" He cackled, ignoring the fact that they were probably around the same age.
He threw his hands up as if grabbing onto something. A chain appeared in his hands, one connected to an anchor at its head. It was almost exactly like Jun's in all but one respect. It was deeply red in color. With the swing of his arms, the anchor flew Jun's way.

She was his usual partner in crime justice at this point. Farrin's quirk meant he responded to trouble faster than most other heroes, even the pros, could, and Peacekeeper's quirk saw her swinging her way through the city and voiding obstacles that others had to go around. In effect, she was also very quick to respond. Usually, the two had things wrapped up before the police, or other heroes that might give her shit for her actions, could arrive. Technically, he wasn't supposed to be working with vigilante, but she had long ago earned his trust.
So, Farrin nodded when she gave him the heads up about the top floor, then sped off. The time-turner beamed through the building. The occasional goon still required a hard fist to the face, but most seemed to have vacated or were otherwise dealt with, courtesy of the Keeper. Meanwhile, Farrin removed the bullets straight out of the crossfire from the few remaining goons he encountered and ran the civilians out of the building.
One level after another, he cleared the building, leaving only the goons. They weren't offered the courtesy of being run out of the building. Instead, Farrin lobbed most of them out of the windows and ensnared them in temporal deceleration fields. When all was said and done, he darted outside and snatched them out of the air before they could crash, then fired an adhesive at each goon, planting them on the concrete below. They would need to dry the adhesive eventually, but it was a sure way to keep them secure until the police arrived. Before long, he and Peacekeeper had the building cleared. More clones rushed in, and more, and yet even more. They were pouring in from the outside, every doorway and even the windows. Had that been the fecker's plan? Just overwhelm the place with sheer numbers? All the police and heroes in the world didn't matter if there were too many enemies. Even a pawn could act the queen when armed with the right weapon.
The young time-turner curled up. One by one, the clones dog-piled him. Kicked, batted, a rogue punch here and there. With each hit comes a flash. A reason. People that never escaped his mind. Friends, family, loved ones. As if his sinuous story ended here, to some criminal neophyte.
"Enough," Farrin growled.
Raw emerald power. It expanded as a wave, concentric spheres growing from Farrin's core and ensnaring the mob. They slowed. He hastened. The storm grew, fists flew, and Farrin paved a path through their infinite numbers. One clone dissipated after another. He hadn't caught Jo's actions up above, but they certainly spared him from the suppressing fire that would have followed.
The opportunity had presented itself, and Farrin took it with all the glee of a child on Christmas. "No! NO!" The man by the counter shouted, realization dawning on him. He had lost control of the situation. As each sphere washed over him, he slowed again, his rifle rising far too slow to defend himself. Farrin burst forward in a flash of light, pulled his arm back, then thrust it forward in a jab of temporal power.
"I said enough!"
The blow connected, and the crook flew through the air. He crashed hard against the bank's inner walls, then slumped against the ground, unconscious. And with his waking mind falling to sleep, the myriad clones also fell. They disappeared in a blink.
Farrin fell to his knees. Someone, either the bank staff via a silent alarm or one of the witnesses outside, would have contacted the authorities. For now, he would take a moment to recuperate, then find Josephine. Maybe the arcade could wait until next time, but after this, he would definitely need some food.

Either one side had lost, or word was spreading like the wildfire they contended with that the big man up here was taken down, and the others were starting to flee. One unlucky gob stormed out of a secondary stairwell further down the hall and aimed his rifle, only for the window to shatter behind him as Peacekeeper entered the scene.
Farrin's wrists twitched ever so briefly. Instinct nearly drew him to take aim at the newcomer, but the briefest fraction of a second was enough for him to recognize the friend for who she was. "Oh trust me, I know it's comin' down," he clipped before getting serious, "two gangs fightin' out er' somethin'. Haven't gotten ta' all o' em, but I think they're startin' ta' run. Tried to clear one o' the stairwells so civis could escape, took out one a' the bigger guys," he thumbed the muscular beast pinned to the ground behind him, "but I haven't been able ta' help get many outta 'ere. Was about ta' sweep the place. Think yuh' can focus on the last o' the thugs while I run the rest o' the civis out?"
Farrin's quirk was flexible, and his combat prowess unquestionable, but Peacekeeper was equipped with similar capabilities in some sense. She could bounce about the building and take out the rest of the troublemakers while Farrin used his speed to quickly snatch up the remaining civilians on each level and run them outside. Since there were likely more civilians trying to get out than there were thugs, it would work to their advantage if Farrin allocated his speed there while Peacekeeper leveraged her quirk against any remaining threats.

He was a flurry of fists, a storm sweeping the streets of the many-bodied man. The hurricane only calmed once it crashed against the bank's shattered storefront. He was almost there. The head honcho, the original, would undoubtedly be inside.
He could have been atop one of the nearby roofs, coordinating the attack, an experienced villain would likely take this approach, but Farrin hadn't seen anyway up above. There was also the chance the man was a million miles away, but the clones had to have some sort of defect. Every quirk had its drawbacks, a tax they took on the wielder. If that drawback got in the way, he would want to be close enough to correct the mistake. That was Farrin's thinking, at least.
Two thugs opened fire with machine guns, but Farrin was already on the move. Glass shattered, scintillating light bouncing and reflected off and between pieces. The young student dipped one way, then darted another, charging into the two gunners ahead. They were the frontline defense.
The distance closed, and metal bent before man. Farrin grabbed the barrel of each gun and twisted. Awestruck, the two could only watch as, in a spin, he kicked on right into the other.
"Now!" One voice rang out above all the others.
Six more goons stormed down from a nearby stairwell. Four fired off their rifles while the final two split up. Farrin repeated his earlier maneuver, weaving between the streams of lead. His fist cracked against one goon. Then he elbowed a second. Pain spiked into his calf. One of the clones, wielding a metal baton, actually landed a shot on his leg.
"That's how it's done," an onlooker said, watching from the nearest counter.
Ring leader, the only non-clone here, hopefully. Farrin's ribs were still hurting, and his lower leg felt as though it was on fire, but a potential end was now in sight.

His fists fired like a machine gun into the muscle monster's gut, but it was like punching a foot-thick steel wall. Then thunder struck his back. The man dropped his elbows into Farrin, who smashed through the floor and dropped into the hallway below.
The young time-turner fell, chin first, onto the floor. Pain bounced between his head and his back. Being thrust through the floor hadn't hurt nearly as much as the elbows that put him there. The man hit like a truck.
Opening his eyes, Farrin was greeted by two thugs kicking a third on the ground. More of this turf war. More items on the agenda. Farrin lifted his wrist, then fired two adhesive rounds. Each smacked into one of the two aggressors in an explosion of blue goop that entangled all three. That would keep them still for a time.
Lightning strikes again. A star burns supernova in Farrin's spine. The giant dropped right onto his back. No temporal warning this time around. Farrin's teeth grit tight, biting back the need to shout. No Sada to tend his wounds back home now, hardly a home anymore, really. The school nurse would have to due. The very thought of her was enough, though. Set a fire in his heart, the kind of fire that demands you get back up and fight.
And that's exactly what he did.
"What? Little bird so quick to give up? Very well, I think it's time we clip your wings," the goon taunted, standing aside and drawing his leg up, ready to drop his foot on Farrin's knee.
Farrin rolled over and thrust his leg upward. His heel cracked into the giant's knee instead, dropping the man—another shot connected with his jaw, throwing the giant thug back. Then Farrin was up and on his feet.
"Yuh' talk too much, dryshite."
One stun round. Two. A third. Blasted into the man. Then, an adhesive followed, pinning him in place. There was no muscling one's way out of the stuff, though the fire might dry it out before long. Fortunately, the stun rounds did their job. The man visibly spasmed a few times. Not so consistently Farrin was concerned about heart problems, but enough to see he wouldn't be moving anytime soon, even if the adhesive did dry. Hopefully, that was the worst of the thugs done with.

Time held the bullets at bay, slowing them in a large field of temporal deceleration. The crook and his clones were absolutely right; this wasn’t a movie. Farrin wouldn’t be so stupid as to charge in without a plan.
He was a spear of emerald and white light beaming down the street. As the temporal fields faded, the bullets remained under their effect for a few extra seconds, precious seconds Farrin used to literally redirect each round into the ground, not risking harm on any civilians behind him. With damage control done, he tore through the enemy.
A few jabs were enough to knock each copy to the ground, and a few moments later, each would dissipate. A left straight caught one in the jaw. A right hook sent another flying. A kick to the shin, followed by the nastiest uppercut, gave a third liftoff. It was only the fourth in Farrin’s way that finally landed a shot on the young time-turner, a messy jab but one backed behind brass knuckles. The blow caught Farrin on the side, and he visibly bent with the blow. His ribs were red, one might’ve been broken, surely some bruises were soon to follow, but he had no time to think on it.
Farrin grit his teeth and countered with three hard right jabs to the man’s face, planting him firmly on the ground. Slowly, he cleared the street, but more poured out of the bank. This wasn’t over quite yet.

Shots are fired up and down the stairwell between opposing gangs while innocent bystanders fueled by unbridled fear flee for their lives. Farrin was no novice in a sprint. You had to take it one step at a time. The first step is to take out the big bastards. Sometimes, knocking out the small fries first helped minimize the potential damage output of the opposition, but knocking out the shot callers and the muscle might deter the others in this instance. So, Farrin met the musclehead's charge.
He burst forward and started by delivering a hard left uppercut into the man's jaw. The muscular beast lumbered upward into the air, then dropped, crashing into the tile floor. Cracks split like a spiderweb from the crater. Damage that might have been regrettable if the building wasn't already burning.
Another man rounded out from a stairwell, this one armed with a machine gun. Zero hesitation, he aimed for Farrin. "I'll be sure ta' get yuh' out, big fella, but first, yer' friends need a lesson," Farrin muttered, blasting ahead. A relentless rain of bullets soared from the thug's weapon, but Farrin was faster still. He slid underneath the hail of death, then sprung up into another uppercut, launching the gunner into the ceiling. He dropped, too, some light debris and dust trailing him.
"Hey, small fry. I didn't hear no bell."
Farrin turned to the sight of the big fella, beat up but, well, up. Still, the stairwell on this level was clear, and with that, a few more civilians were able to run on down, free from the exchange of gunfire. One step at a time. Who's to say when Farrin turned the corner to a scene ripped right out of an old Saturday morning cartoon? Oh sure, it's one person, alright, but his quirk is readily apparent.
"Alright then, you, errr', all o' yuh, surrender now n' maybe the police will take it easy on yuh'."
There's that one warning he always offered. So far, the nays outnumbered the yays something like a thousand to one. Yup, villainy rarely ever surrendered on the first go. Despite his competitive nature, Farrin didn't like resorting to violence in such situations, but it was almost always necessary. Judging by the look in the hundred clones looking his way, violence would be the answer yet again. Yeah, a villain team of one, one that could copy himself, or some variation thereof, repeatedly. Quite literally a man army, and this man was everywhere along the street... and inside the bank.
"I don't think so, dude. Just who the hell are you anyway? Mind your business," the reply came in the voice of a legion.
Farrin wasn't wearing his hero gear. No protective outfit and no linear cannons. But, he still had his quirk and his mitts. That would be enough.
"Name's Oberon, I'm a hero... student... n' suggestin' yuh' reconsider."
Two chances. He was given two chances this time. Please, just please let one of these daft feckers possess some minimal sense of self-preservation and sense.
"This isn't the movies, kid, get him!" He commanded as if this wasn't just an army of him, to begin with.
Three clones charged Farrin—one with a bat, another holding a knife, and a third whirling a chain. "Well, guess it was too much ta' hope fer'," Farrin sighed. He burst ahead, and in a blink, he laid out the three clones. Two gut shots to each, and they dropped. So, he wasn't all that strong, just incredibly numerous. Then, a few pulled out their firearms, mostly handguns, but without his outfit, it could be problematic if he was hit. Okay, time to get to work. Of course, the first time he was working on some UAU goodwill with Kei Hada, there weren't any villains involved. There was negligence involved but no active attack. Not this time.
Farrin leaped through the air, balled up, and then crashed through the highest window of the small apartment building. A gang war of some kind? Had to be. Two sets of crooks were battling one another throughout the building, whipping spikes, the elements, and all assortments of projectiles at one another. Putting people in harm's way, too.
"That's 'nuff o' that," Farrin shouted down the hall.
A large, shirtless man with a powerlifter build looked up to face the hero-student. He dislodged his fist from another man's face. Did those muscles have to do with his quirk, or was he just that dedicated to his workout? If it was the latter, Farrin might have been impressed if disgust hadn't occupied his gut. This was sheer recklessness. Scorch marks painted the walls, and the air was pregnant with flame. A frightful cacophony grew across the building as more and more of the innocent civilians realized their entire building had been set ablaze. So much damage done, and these feckers were responsible.
"Says who, small fry?" the man sneered.
"Says the lad that's given yuh' one chance ta' surrender. Round up yer' buddies below, opposition too, n' maybe yuh' won't be locked away fer' life."
