I got something deep inside of me Courage is the thing that keeps us free
Well then. It appeared as if everything had been seen to, and that no more questions were in order, even if the more worrying points made were... Well, they made the frown deeper on the face of the old lion, if nothing else, but fortunately Dauntless was able to step in to shoot down most of the more notable comments. Now then, the only thing left, Leonid reasoned, was to divide up the teams, their alignments and to get things underway. It was time to begin.
OOC NOTES: Alright! Registrations are done, thank you for your patience. So, to run through this scenario for anyone who might have forgotten or who might be unfamiliar with the source material, this is a scenario emulation exercise in which teams of (or individuals among) the students will be put against each other in active competition. One side will be portraying the heroes, who are rushing in to respond to a fictional bomb threat. The other side will be portraying the villains, who are the ones responsible for planting this bomb. The bomb, which is a prop and not actually explosive, is large, bulky and unwieldy, impossible for anyone but the strongest to move (and even then it is highly unwieldy) and possesses a countdown on fifteen minutes from the beginning of the exercise. The goal of the heroes is to reach and secure the area around the bomb before this countdown hits zero, letting them 'disarm' it, while the goal of the villains is to stop them from achieving this. Quirk combat and support gear is sanctioned, but is to kept on a nonlethal level. The bomb will be placed somewhere in one of the many replica skyscrapers of Ground Beta. The hero team's starting position will be by the entrance to this skyscraper, while the villain team's starting position will be beside the bomb inside the skyscraper. The hero team will not know where exactly in the building the bomb can be found, locating it is part of the challenge for them. Neither side is permitted to destroy or irreparably damage the bomb, and doing so is considered an automatic loss. For the heroes because this risks a possible detonation, for the villains because they just destroyed valuable hardware in a suboptimal way.
With that said, your matchups will be: • The hero team of Takara Toshigawa and Miroru Vs. the villain team of Freja Helt and Rin • The hero team of Kana Suzuki and Shana Inoue Vs. the villain team of Zenkai Hatake and Thea • The hero team of Sebastian Sinclaire and Hyousuke Suzuki Vs. the villain team of reijiro akagi and Kousoku Raito • The hero Leo Kaiser Vs. the villain Jack Orion
Each matchup will make their own separate thread to run your battle in and, while the teachers may occasionally pop in for commentary or to offer instructions over the communicators that all students are given for this exercise in the case of an emergency, these threads will be organized by the student players themselves, it is your responsibility to complete them and to submit them as Nonlethal Missions once they are completed.
With all of that out of the way, good luck and have fun!

I got something deep inside of me Courage is the thing that keeps us free
Electricity curved through the air and, in one hell of a light show, it came crashing into the villain to prompt another shriek of paint from Excavator, the act apparently stunning him enough to break his concentration, making the remaining shovels hovering in the air drop and clatter to the ground. Fantastic. Turning back towards the villain, Leonid prepared himself, seeing that the other hero, too, was just about ready to launch something big. At her comment he just chuckled softly, giving her another glance.
"Ah, this? This is nothing lass, I've had far worse. I appreciate the sentiment, however." Really, he hadn't been cut deeply at all, but with how much even shallow cuts could bleed around the head, and how visually obvious the read was when spreading in the stark white of Leonid's fur? It probably looked considerably worse than it actually was. "Now then, ready to wrap this thing up?"
Excavator, in the meantime, had regained his bearings enough to utter more vague threats, if nothing else. "I... I will... I will HAVE your HEADS!" A shout that Leonid, of course, had already heard so many times throughout his career. It was nothing that he took seriously, really, and he was more than ready to meet whatever Excavator was going to throw their way next while Skald prepared her own attack-
...Or so he thought, until Excavator turned his hand towards a nearby construction site, prompting the sound of rumbling creaks and groaning metal. Then, something large began to lift up from the site in question, Excavator screaming in exertion as he had just brought up a literal, full-sized excavator floating over his head, a sight that, for a moment, made Leonid deflate.
Come on now, really? That was not a shovel, there is no way that counts. How in the hell did Excavator's quirk work?!
No time to think about that, as Excavator threw his hand forward and thus launched the massive piece of heavy construction equipment, whirling through the air in a wide arc as it made its way towards the two heroes, prompting a low "...Ah, hells..." from Leonid as he planted his feet, bracing himself for what was to come. "I will take care of that situation. Focus on what you're building up now, lass. Knock him down while I do my part, would you be so kind?"
No real time to think about it as, it bears repeating, the literal excavator came falling down towards the two. Here goes nothing..!

Borovsky began to go over her... Many thoughts and theories on the matter that Leonid had proposed, and for a moment, the old lion's mind glazed over. He had never been the scholarly type, he had made it through his education and career through sheer physical excellence, athletic gifts and charisma that gave him all the tools that he had needed to succeed as a pro hero, all of this... Bookish stuff, well that was other people's concern as far as he cared. Well, the important part was that it sounded like she was agreeing to the proposition, he had gotten that much out of it.
Turning Helt's way on her question, the veteran gave a small shrug. "Quirkless students? Certainly, they are frequent enough. Quirkless hero students however, that is something else. Owing to the practical exams and physical demands for our Department of Heroics, it is quite the rare thing for quirkless applicants to outshine their quirked counterparts enough to qualify for our courses." With another as his ambigious smiles, Leonid reached out and let a large hand clap down to land on Freja's shoulder, a single pat, followed by a soft squeeze. "You are something extra, lass. Take pride in this."
Turning back to face the both of them again, Leonid's brow did furrow slightly at Freja's continued questioning. What was this now, he had gone out of his way to assist her, really more than what fell under his duties as educator, and she was still hesitating on the starting line? What was this, why had she even signed up for the course, let alone made it this far, if she had no drive? He did his best to dispel the moment of irritation, but really now. What was with the insistent self-doubt of youth these days..? He worried for the future, if this wishy-washy attitude was to be the norm. "It is as good an idea as any, I would say. As I said, you clearly have enough of a natural edge to be here, and if anyone is capable of bringing that to the forefront, it would be Miss Borovsky here."

Leonid nodded along to the student's question, humming to himself in thought for a moment as he crossed his arms. Brutal..? Well, he supposed that was a word for the earliest days of heroism, the chaos that immediately followed the end of the Vigilante Era, he had never thought of it much in those terms. Things had been difficult, but that had just been the nature of the industry at the time and, as one of the biggest success stories of that era, it wasn't like he had been exposed to the worst that the times had to offer. "Well," He mulled his answer over for a moment, lingering before replying properly. "I suppose so. I like to think of it less as that things were difficult then, and moreso that they are easier now. If you were to ask me, that sounds like we succeeded at our job at the time, does it not?" He chuckled a little, before moving on to letting her analyze his armor.
He listened with rapt attention as she went over the various options for just what exactly it was that could be wrong with his suit, but he was not going to pretend that he understood the details of what was being said. Potentially corroded parts, components that had aged, he got the gist, but what exactly that meant in reality? Well, he had never bothered to look into or learn any of those things. He simply trusted her judgement on this one, as someone who was actually studying the topic.
"Oh, I would not want a complete overhaul." He waved his hand. "I am not that serious about getting back in active duty, here. Besides, call me stingy if you'd like, but at this point I do not enjoy the prospect of replacing something that has served me way for several decades, now." There was another smile from the old lion.
"A day, you said? Well, if you have the time to spare, I would most certainly appreciate the favor. Just make sure that everything works like specified on the schematics, and I will be more than content." For a moment, his brow furrowed. "That is, if you do have that time to spare. All jokes aside, I understand that your lot oftentimes have plenty on your plate as-is."

Old connections then, as Leonid had assumed. Well, that certainly explained how a young gaijin without much in the way of previous credits had made into U.A as handily as he had. Well, if nothing else, it was good to know exactly who was looking out for this one, and who he could contact, if need be. But, for now, the old lion was not overly interested in contact information or additional data, he wanted to see what this lad could do for himself.
Bouncing on his feet, Leonid waited for his student to ready himself, before the confirmation was given. "Ready when you are, lad."
And just like that, they got started. Started on a very low dial, to be certain, but started all the same. There was a second of circling, and then O'Rourke rushed in, throwing some quick initial jabs that Leonid met with his own raised guard, his swelling forearm taking the initial jabs without too much issue. Good form, the lad's technique was more than acceptable, and just from these jabs he reckoned that the to-be hero hat a decent amount of stopping power in those blows too. Not bad at all. The lion would respond with a few quick jabs of his own, taking a quick step back to take full advantage of his superior height and reach to the other. A few light punches, only to test the lad's reflexes really, followed by a quick alteration of lefts and rights, still heavily held back - little more than taps, really.
"How hard a strike can you take, son?" A quick question that, without waiting for an answer, was immediately followed by the pro hero's first real punch of the exchange, a sudden right hook that, if it hit, was likely to be felt if nothing else, even if he still made sure to not put his entire weight into the thing - strikes from the lion could snap bone, after all, and he was not entirely sure just how tough this one was just yet.

Thankfully, there were two of them. Once upon a time, Leonid would probably have been irritated by the presence of someone else stealing his thunder (hah!) as it were, but at this point, he was just glad for the assistance making sure that this was over and done with quickly. Excavator had not noticed the other hero moving at all, so zeroed in on his 'nemesis' (a very generous interpretation of their relationship if you were to ask the veteran himself, but humility had never exactly been Excavator's strong suit) was he. Thus, when thunder cracked along the ground and enveloped the villain, his shriek was one of pain and surprise both. Excellent, the man was stunned, that meant that all Leonid needed to go was go back in one more time and-
Or so he would, if Excavator did not wave in his direction with a wave and make the many splinters, fragments and remaining whole pieces of the shovels that Leonid had once held shoot upwards, battering against the pro hero, piercing into his suit and making small spurts of blood shoot up around his muzzle, ears and other exposed parts of his head. Hurgh-! He staggered back, waving away the virtual swarm of assailing wooden pieces and metal, protecting himself best he was able. So what, it wasn't that he controlled whole shovels, but it also applied to pieces of shovels? Things that had once been shovels? What was your power, Excavator?!
With Leonid momentarily stunned, Excavator would be given a moment to spin around back towards Skald, both hands raised towards the younger mutant and, with a scream, he would summon all nearby digging equipment that he had launched previously, sending it flying towards the source of his pain, accompanied by the snow shovel which spun rapidly, swinging alongside the rest of the barrage in a wide arc. Hell, laughable as it was, that looked genuinely potentially painful-!
The old lion growled and, with another kick against the pavement he threw himself forward, vaulting through the air in a springing somersault that sent him down to land closely in front of the fox, veteran hero coming crashing down to land on top of the incoming snow shovel, stomping it to the ground and snapping it in two under his boot in the process. Quickly turning to meet the incoming wave of gardening projectiles, the white lion threw his head forward for another booming roar, the ensuing shockwave scattering the incoming shovels back and sending them sparking in all directions. Whew, alright, that was one attack averted.
"Really now?" The old man chuckled in response to Skald's own comment, thin trickles of blood still running down his head, staining the silvery fur with splotches of red. "Well, I would love to hear your recommendations once this is handled."

I got something deep inside of me Courage is the thing that keeps us free
Well, nobody had ever claimed that this job was going to be easy.
Oh, not pro hero work, Leonid had been doing that for forty years now, he was more than comfortable with that. Rather, it was his body of work as a teacher that was currently vexing him. He had led seminars and exercises for U.A University for a little over two years now, but this was the first time that he was trusted with head responsibility for a class. These students were going to be his charges, and therefore it was on him to ensure that their behavior and educational standards were up to code.
That is why the incident during orientation bothered him so. Shana Inoue, one of the freshmen in question, had completely lost her composure during his introductory Q&A session. She was an animal mutant just like him and, as a result, it seemed as if she was... Unusually susceptible to the presence that Leonid's own quirk gave him, creating fear and subservience in most beasts wherever he went. Usually this had no effect on regular people, but when mutations came into play... Well, sometimes things went wrong, and in this case they had very much done so. So, he had made a decision. He needed to have a conversation with the girl, and thus had made sure to summon her as soon as he could.
While waiting on her to arrive, Leonid had taken the time to look into the unruly student in question some more. Poor background, large family. Lackluster academic and theoretical results, but had still been accepted for the Department of Heroes by the means of an exceptional practical exam and scholarship sponsors... Well, he knew that type well enough. That, Leonid could deal with.
Hopefully.
Who'd have thunk that at age sixty, he was still going to be sorely in need of training?

Hah. Leonid could most certainly recognize someone being starstruck when he saw it, he had seen it enough times in his careers for that. This did not make it less enjoyable for him to know that there were some that still recognized him for who he was, and he saw that reaction clearly in the hero currently on the scene. She gave her reply, and the lion responded with a small 'Hooh' before turning back towards Excavator, hand on his hip as he continued to speak.
"So you were giving this one some trouble, were you old bean? Well, if you are capable of that, consider me proven wrong! You must have improved significantly since I last saw you, then!"
"My power only CONTINUES TO GROW, LEONID!" The villain screeched now, the tips of the myriad of digging tools hovering around him all snapping to be pointing their tips towards the veteran, a sight that... Could have been intimidating, had it been anything else but the current situation. "While you have been on the shelf collecting rust, I have only EXPANDED my influence! Now DIE!"
The shovels and trowels all launched from their hovering homing positions, shooting forward like bullets out of a machinegun in a swarm directed right at the central body mass of the old lion, who responded by leaping into the air and twisting, whirling around in a rapid spin to avoid plenty of the incoming projectiles. With a grunt of exertion at the acrobatic stunt, Leonid swung his hands around in this midair twirl, snatching two of the shovels that he could not dodge out of the air, leaving him unharmed and grabbing two of Excavator's weapons of choice. He completed his whirl, landing on the road again and kicking off as soon as his feet touched the pavement, aging but still terrifyingly strong leg muscles launching him forward as if he was fired out of a cannon. In a flash he had covered the distance between himself and Excavator.
He brought his fists down, intending to finish his dashing advance with a couple of heavy swings - still holding onto the shovels that he had caught out of the air, mind you - the villain shrieking in response as a different shovel - a snow shovel this time - whirled forward from the criminal's back and spun through the air. Acting as a kind of... Remote-controlled martial artist's staff, this snow shovel would block most of Leonid's momentum, stopping him in his tracks and forcing him to alter his swing, able to bypass the obstacle but giving Excavator enough time to dodge. The villain scrambled back, gripping onto one of his trowels and sending it flying backwards, dragged through the air by his own equipment to create distance once more, as Leonid's hand came crashing down, slamming into the pavement where Excavator had once stood with enough force to send a crack running along the road.
"...Missed, huh..?" The old lion mused, standing up straight once more and squinting towards the villain before him, the rise back to his feet complete with an arching of his back that made every muscle along his spine crack and pop. With a sigh, the old veteran squeezed down, effortlessly snapping the shovels still held in his hands, leaving splinter and shattered gardening equipment land around his feet. "You are absolutely right old chap, I am getting rusty. Going to need to work on that."

'Oh, I guess you've been doing this for a while, huh.'
If he had needed to suppress a tingle of irritation before, this comment actually dropped a mote of anger in the lion's gut. Yes, yes he had been doing this for a while, thank you very much. He had been one of the first and one of the best actually, maybe it wouldn't hurt you to take your mind out of the damned textbooks and turn on the news once in a while, maybe learn some common knowledge, basic history? Was that too much to ask? Then again maybe that was not INTERESTING enough to the current generation-
Forcibly stopping that train before it continued to speed up, Leonid simply let out something of a grunting scoff in response, something that could probably, hopefully be played off as a snort of laughter. Fortunately, at least his animalistic features did some work to hide the detailed emotions running over him, as they would likely be all too easy to read on a more human face. "Well, I have been doing it for... Roughly as long as hero licenses have been a legal concept, yes, so I would certainly consider that 'a while', if I may say so myself." There. At least it was addressed, and he certainly hoped that this did not come across as too irritable. At least it could be read into as the more relaxed presentation that had leaned into thus far.
"Now, as I am sure that you can tell from your surveying of the blueprints, the armor itself is not terribly complicated. A padded kevlar mesh, made to stop blades and light gunfire, nothing that needs changing there. However, there is the matter of... Well, I am not entirely certain how it does it myself, I am sure that you will be able to discern the details, but the armor absorbs the force of the blows it suffers, and can convert and store that energy as electricity. Electricity which I can then discharge through the metal components that you see here, to add a stunning quality to my elbows, knees or fists." A large hand pointed at various points of the blueprints as Leonid spoke.
"The sticking point for me is that I could swear that it used to be... More efficient at this? I feel like the armor seems to require more blows to generate the same level of voltage that it used to be able to with less. Maybe something with the circuitry has been taking a toll over time, I do not know." He shrugged.
"But," And there was a chuckle now, playing into the girl's earlier, awkward joke. "I would very much prefer my armor non-explosive, thank you very much." aneko

I got something deep inside of me Courage is the thing that keeps us free
Just as during orientation, understanding the gaijin's accent was a struggle for the old lion, as his brow furrowed and he crossed his arms while the future hero spoke. Well, he didn't quite pick up on every single word, but he got enough and could contextualize what he didn't to figure out what the other was saying easily enough. Ireland... Ireland... Ah, yes, so the boy was English. That made sense, he had never spent any time in Europe himself, but he understood that while its heroism scene was nothing compared to Japan, or even to the Americans, it was growing along decently well in its own right. More familiar to him, was the other name that the boy mentioned.
Above & Beyond. Hm. Well, that was fine, far from the smallest agency in Japan, but it was hardly one that he would have chosen for work back in his day. Then again, he had considered himself above most agencies in his day, refusing to accept anything that was not the absolute cream of the crop. Perhaps it would do him better these days to not judge as harshly. "Really now, Above & Beyond? I was not aware that they took on foreign trainees, or is it a family relation?" A question asked more out of polite curiosity than anything, even if the lion did not realize fully how condescending his wording might sound. "They doing alright by you?"
"Ah, it is no thing." He waved off the gratitude for the veteran's time when Farrin went on to thank him, shaking his head. "I heard about that little excursion of yours with some of your fellow freshmen. You are already building a reputation here son, got some kick in you, or so the word goes." The old lion chuckles softly as he stretched in preparation for what was to come, old bones creaking, aging muscles crackling and popping. "To be entirely honest with you, I am just curious to see what kind of damage you cause with my own eyes." His tone was jovial now, even if his body language said something else, large hands closing into fists as the lion sunk into a, for his size and age, surprisingly light-footed combat stance. "Well then, I reckon a bit of a warmup might be in order, before we begin to get crazier with it. We are both boxers, so what do you say about a quick couple of rounds before we get quirks and larger-scale scenarios involved? Just to get the blood pumping." Farrin

I got something deep inside of me Courage is the thing that keeps us free
Ambition was a word that Leonid had a complicated relationship with. It was a trait that you needed if you wished to succeed in the hero industry, the drive to improve, to be the best you could be, to surpass those around you. It was an essential trait and when he saw it in his students, it always delighted him. Yet, ambition was also something that could so very easily turn poisonous, that could drive you to places you would never wish to tread and cause untold damage in the process. It was his ambition, and the darker traits that had stemmed from them, that had caused Leonid untold amounts of grief. Still, he firmly believed that if he could temper those possibilities, direct the ambitions of his students in the correct way, those select students would be able to achieve great things.
Now with all of that said, directly contacting a teacher within your first week on campus, searching out personal training? That more than anything proved a very distinct sense of ambition to the veteran hero. Farrin O'Rourke, a firecracker of a freshman in the Department of Heroes, apparently wanted to practice his skills against Leonid personally. Young man had already proven what he was about during orientation, when the first question out of his mouth had been where a fight could be found. Well, good to know that Leonid's first impression hadn't been unfounded.
And, well, judging by what he was seeing as the pro hero strode up to approach the student, O'Rourke had all reason to be confident in his capabilities. Hell of a pace on him, footwork was more than solid too. If Leonid didn't know better, he'd assume that the hero-to-be already had a decade plus of experience on him. "Good snap." The lion called out as the announcement of his presence. "Dance is quite impressive too, I have to say." With one of his smiles, as always rendered ambiguous by his inhuman facial features, one reached the other, the veteran's hands folded behind his back. "Boxing, is it not? I found my fundamentals in the same sport. How long have you been practicing, son?"

The two of them entered the agreed-upon support lab and, to Leonid's relief to a certain degree, he found that Borovsky was already present. Excellent, this would make things far easier, then. He watched the two students as they exchanged greetings, nodding along slowly and... Well, Borovsky was certainly an odd duck, he had already heard as much from the Department of Support, had already experienced it at the odd times than their paths had crossed in the past. Still, her talent could not be denied and that was the main point of today.
"Well then." He spoke up, interjecting into the greetings to... Well, explain himself, more than anything else. Good as time as any. "Miss Borovsky, thanking you for taking the time. This is one of the new freshmen in the Department of Heroics, Miss Helt." He then turned to Freja in turn. "Miss Helt, this is Miss Borovsky. A sophomore of the Department of Support and one of the most talented support engineers that I have ever had the pleasure to stand alongside, and I say that as someone who has spent time around a lot of support agencies since the industry's infancy. You will have to see it to believe it, she is a genius."
"Now," With the proper introductions out of the way, he would turn back towards Borovsky, continuing his explanation for the day. "The reason that I have asked you both here today is simply that I would like you to get acquainted with one another, and for a synergetic project between our two departments. Miss Helt here," He would begin to explain, motioning towards the hero student but maintaining his gaze on Ana. "Is quirkless, you see. Certainly promising, promising enough to pass our practical exams despite her condition. However, if she is to continue with her education here, especially once our practical exercises in the Department of Heroes begin, I believe that she would benefit from a way to make up for those shortcomings. Even the playing field, if you would." He paused to look Freja's way for a moment, giving her another of his half-grimaces-that-happen-when-a-lion-smiles, before turning back to the support student once more.
"I would like you, if willing, to work alongside Miss Helt to develop a fitting arsenal of support equipment to allow her to coexist with her quirked peers. The two of you will converse about this, and I expect you to cooperate to figure out exactly what it is that she needs. Though, obviously, your experience within support development should very much be applied to this undertaking." He paused again, Ana this time being the one to get one of his not-smiles. "Naturally, I will talk this over with your professors to ensure that this project counts towards your academic credit."

Well then, things were calming down from that little accident, and it seemed like the student body, too, was calming itself to some degree. Leonid gave Rokuhane a small, appreciative nod as she seemed to be tending to Inoue immediately. Good initiative, one that he took note of and would make sure to remember, as he turned back to address the crowd at large-
Or well, he was going to, until the quite loud arrival of an additional student - Orion, he was pretty sure - interrupted him, prompting the old lion to scowl, his brow furrowing in irritation. One thing after another, wasn't it? Had it been any other day, he would have half a mind to use the absolute authority afforded to him as educator to see the boy expelled immediately - it was within his power to do so - but, at this point, it was more important to him to get things back on track than to stoke further dramatics. Turning to the younger mutant he simply gave Jack a hard stare and an "Breathe, son. Mishaps happen, and we can forgive them once. Do not make a habit of tardiness and we won't have a problem."
"Now then." He called out, applying a tinge of his quirk once more to make himself heard over the chatter that had once again begun to emerge among the many students. "Seeing as it seems that we have no further questions, we will begin to divide you up into your respective guide groups. If you look under your seats, you will find a slip of paper with a number on it. Shortly, your seniors will step up and call out one of these numbers. Group up by the senior who name yours, they will then lead you show you around the facilities and introduce you to the school grounds. Feel free to mingle freely and introduce yourselves to one another until everyone is ready to leave, but keep an ear out for your number, so you know where to go."
Smile spreading across the lion's face, he would spread his arms in a final, small gesture, taking a last glance across the freshmen before him. "And welcome to U.A. University"
OOC Information: With the Q&A out of the way, the floor is now open for open mingling! Feel free to have your students scatter about, talk to one another, introduce themselves to each other and establish some initial first impressions and early relationships! This will not operate on any kind of post cycling but rather be chaotic, any order goes, to represent the messy crowd of students now moving about to find their groups and making small talk. This mingle session will be kept open until next Monday, after which I will wrap up the thread with one more Leonid post and submit it to get all participants their EXP award. Thank you for participating!

I got something deep inside of me Courage is the thing that keeps us free
Shaberu Horuma. Villain name Excavator. An eccentric with the bizarre quirk of manipulating digging equipment - no specific material in and of itself, but specifically any and all materials when they took the shovel-related shape, or anything that could be justified as shovel-like. With a power such as that, it was no wonder that the man had ended up a laughing stock, ridiculed and ostracized, until he had one day simply... Snapped, taken to villainy seemingly more out of a desire to make his quirk seem fearsome, to earn some modicum of respect that the world would not otherwise give him, than anything else. Of course Excavator was still the shovel man, so all that this had done was make him the laughing stock of the criminal underworld in turn, something which only seemed to drive his frustration even further.
Yes, Leonid was familiar.
The veteran hero had encountered this sad old man a few times during his career, a few battles had been fought until the Silver King Hero had begun to see himself above such trifles. Excavator was a joke then, and he was a joke now, but that did not change the fact that those shovels he was throwing around had some legitimate power behind them, smashing through windows and able to lodge themselves into walls when sent flying. Funny or not at a glance, that still made for a legitimate danger to civilians and to public property. We couldn't have that, now could we?
"You really still at this same act, old chap?"
The tired question was the only warning, prompting an "Eh-?" from the C-lister villain as he turned in the direction of its source, before he was met with a booming explosive roar, Leonid exerting the full strength of his mutated throat and vocal chords to send a powerful blast of gale force and extreme sound straight into Excavator, sending the villain rolling along the ground with a plethora of sputters and screams, his trowels and other miscellaneous gardening tools clattering along the ground all around him. Red-faced, the old villain sat up, staring in utter disbelief at the second hero to enter the scene. "Leonid-?! But you- You're-"
"Retired?" The old lion sighed, rolling one arm, feeling stiff, old muscles warming up. "Believe me, I thought the same. But here I am, enjoying some of my very limited free time out in Tokyo - you would not believe the schedule that teaching staff is under - and I see this? Imagine my surprise when I discover that, after twenty years, absolutely nothing has changed."
"You-! SILENCE! While you may have been content resting on your laurels, my power has only grown! BEHOLD!" Excavator screeched, his collection of trowels hovering up into the air around him, now pointing at Leonid, ready to launch. The veteran, meanwhile, simply glanced in the direction of the other mutant hero on the scene, feline muzzle curling upwards into a soft smile.
"Evening, lass. I am sure that you had no trouble dealing with this old fogey on your own, but I hope that you do not mind my assistance?"

The eyes drilling into him, while maybe lost on the immediate onlookers, was most certainly not something that Leonid missed. To say that him and his fellow educator today had history would be underselling it, two members of the old guard of hero society, two of the foundational pillars.
Two men whose relationship was likely to be forever marred by the man that Leonid had once been.
He couldn't lie, it filled him with a certain sense of unease, a twisting knot in the pit of his gut. But, through his many years of hero work, the veteran had learned how to keep his demeanor strong and do good work through worse stressors. His turmoil was entirely internal, and as the (seemingly) younger of the two stepped back to let the old lion speak, he nodded and stepped forward with no hints whatsoever of just how uncomfortable this entire thing made him. He knew how to conceal such things.
"It is just as Astraeus says." His rumbling voice boomed, gaze running over the students gathered before them. "We will divide you into your respective groups shortly, but before that, I wish to remind you all that we do not expect perfection from you within your first week on campus. You are to try your best, but at this stage you are to consider difficulty or loss not as a failure, but as a learning opportunity. What we establish here today is your baseline. The set standard which you are to work your way up from. You must know where you are at presently, before you can begin to improve upon yourselves."
"Well then," He rounded off with a small shrug. "Any questions before we begin?"
OOC INFORMATION: Welcome to a good old game of capture the bomb! This exercise will work exactly as it did in the source material, so you ought to know it well. For this exercise, you "sign up" to join by making an in-character post in this thread. Once everyone interested has posted, or after a set amount of time, another teacher post will round up the registration process, after which you will either be divided up into 1v1 or 2v2 teams, depending on how many students sign up. Once you have been assigned your team, you can make your personal matchup as a separate thread, which you can then submit as a mission in the thread inbox upon completion. For any OOC inquiries, please check with me (Marcus) or Taiihun in the Discord server.
Good luck and have fun!
