18:50, 2X March, 2100.
It was a close escape. It always was. Ryūko & Tsukiyo had pursued a lead on local villain activity, and once again they'd gotten in over their heads. The battle had been tough, and they'd only managed to knock out a couple members of the group and get out before the police showed up. After running for a while to ensure that they weren't being followed, a metro ride out of Shinjuku (where Hebi could practically feel the eyes of other passengers on her), and a couple minutes of walking, they were finally approaching their apartment. Hebi, sounding a little more tired than usual, turned to look at her roommate & friend. "That was seriously impressive back there, you always are. We might need to work on combo techniques, though."

A slight smile graced her blank face, as they rounded the corner onto their apartment's street. While residual adrenaline was keeping her going, Hebi knew that once she was as rest, she'd crash hard. Honestly, she was looking forward to the warmth of her bed. Finally arriving home, she beelined for the couch in the living room and laid down against the cushions (with her tail on the floor). Remembering something though, she got up and moved over to Hoshino. "Any injuries we need to take care of, Shino-chan? I'm fine, besides a few bruises." Though it didn't register visually, Hoshino was familiar enough to be able to recognise her attentiveness as concern.

That was becoming Hoshino's tagline. Everything could have been better. Though they had some success, the majority of their quarry had gotten away, which might as well have amounted to failure in its entirety. To say she was displeased with herself was an understatement. She had to do better - get better.

Hebi drew her attention and broke her internal self-deprecation. "Combo techniques? Like in an anime?" She couldn't help but chuckle at that. "Perhaps. We'll have to look into it sometime."

After she closed the door to their apartment behind them, Hoshino let out a long sigh. While Hebi darted for the couch, Hoshino stumbled around like a drunk, hopping on one foot and wobbling back and forth as she removed her boots. Eventually, she managed to flop down on the couch near Hebi.

"Much of the same for me," she informed her partner. "Nothing an ice pack and a hot bath won't take care of."

Hebi, reassured that Hoshino was not in need of medical attention, seemed satisfied with that answer and once again plopped down on the couch next to her. "Well, I can help with the ice pack part~" The smile was audible in her speech, again a rare occurence for the serpentine girl. The end of Hebi's tail lifted and wrapped (gently) around Hoshino's body, pulling her into a close hug. Hebi stayed motionless like that for a short while, almost falling asleep until she felt an actual falling sensation. A hypnogogic jerk, jolting her awake. She checked her phone briefly, then looked to Hoshino.
"It's just past 7. Are we making dinner, or do you wanna get takeout? I don't know when the other two are gonna be back, but if I make something I'll probably make enough for them, too." Hebi was notoriously the opposite of picky when it came to food, happily eating anything and everything offered to her. Most likely due to to some combination of her Quirk and time spent homeless. So, traditionally, she had always gone along with whatever Hoshino or the family decided when getting food. "'Cause we really need to eat something after that fight, as much as I'd love to just go to bed." She yawned, sharp teeth showing for a brief moment.

Though Hebi could have helped with providing an ice pack, she instead chose to sit down next to Hoshino, and then proceeded to wrap her tail around her friend. Hoshino didn't seem to mind, and actually seemed to get quite cozy with it, though she was definitely a bit tired.

"No, I think this will be okay," Hoshino closed her eyes and practically purred as she got comfortable.

"I don't know what anyone else had going on tonight," Hoshino admitted. Normally, she kept pretty good tabs on everyone. "However, I think there might be some left-overs from the other night, unless someone ate them."

She let her head hang back a bit and released a heavy sigh. "I'm just going to sit for a bit before I do anything else. I'm not hungry quite yet, either."

"That might change, or I might just tough it out until breakfast," Hoshino added as she tucked her feet up underneath her bottom. "I'd probably fall asleep right now... but, I need to clean up before I sleep or I'll regret it. How about you give me another minute or two and we can look at food?"

Just as comfortable in their current position as Hoshino was, Hebi was very happy to just let the two share each other's presence for a while. For at least a couple minutes, though maybe longer, she sat there with her legs curled up into her chest between the two bodies. At rest, her tongue idly poked out just slighty. Soon enough though, she perked up again, this time at just above a whisper - all she needed when they were so close. "Well, y'know I won't force you, but if you don't eat something tonight then I'm gonna make you breakfast tomorrow..." She didn't move her body, but did playfully poke Hoshino's cheek with her tongue once.

Another small space of warm, familiar silence passed without event. Invisible behind a rosy porcelain mask, the fight and preceding investigation played over in her head. She could think of nothing but the rift in skill she saw between the two. Sure, she was strong and graceful in motion, but when it came to everything else Hoshino seemed leagues ahead. She recalled moments during their shared history where time and again her friend had put herself through so much just to feel like it wasn't enough. Hebi looked into Hoshino's titanium eyes with nothing but admiration in her own. "You're... special, Shino-chan. You know that, right? Those guys were so tough, and we were outnumbered, but watching you made me feel like we could do it." She paused for a moment.
Then, an actual whisper. "Special and warm, now Hebi-chan is warm too~"
