The bat that Kaito had summoned was held firmly in his hands. When the toy planes flew towards him, he swung and managed to get 2 out of the 3 of them directly. The 3rd one ended up having its wing clipped. The bat played music and the surviving plane danced to its demise. ”Not gonna lie, that was pretty sick.” Just as he was about to do a small victory dance, the plane caught a blaze. That may or may not be good. If it helps us though, I ain’t gonna complain.[break][break]

As the flames engulfed the other toys, Kaito focused on the possible exit that was mentioned. As he began moving, he heard his chosen hero name being called. I guess we are using hero names… wait, he didn’t share his hero name… oh yeah! It was on the sign up sheet for the event. He was surprised that someone remembered it. Well, maybe the guy that called it had a really good memory. Or maybe he just didn’t spend enough time looking at their hero names. Luckily Farrin’s weird accent didn’t throw off Kaito at all and he understood what was being asked of him.[break][break]

”You got it! As he was about to use the bat again, it transformed back to the scythe. He gathered it had a small usage time before reverting. As he went to use the scepter to see if it would remain in that state or transform again, transform it did. It turned into… a cowbell? Really? Coming off of the musical bat, he had a cowbell… What am I? Some indie musical or something? What am I supposed to do with this? Hmmm, maybe if I play it something will happen. To add to it, that other student has a TUBA? Damn, they are really going with this instrument motif.[break][break]

Kaito started playing the cowbell and to him nothing happened. Little did he know that the cowbell was a supplementary tool used to enhance the use of the other tools in his arsenal. It would allow him to use one of the other gadgets without drawbacks. Good thing he figured that using a different gadget would be more useful than trying to figure out what playing the cowbell did. He opened his menu and selected his next gadget.[break][break]

The next gadget was the Northern Whale Path drone. It had to be better than the malfunctioning drone that was blazing down attacks indiscriminately. He shot the drone towards the starting area which was the opposite direction from where they were going. He hoped that the toys would follow the whale and that would also put them all in a line for Farrin’s Tuba attack as well. Now it was time to get moving to the exit.

Round 4.

Arms and flames battered against Jun's car door as she ran with the others, the makeshift shield taking a surprising amount of beating for it being, well, a car door. Simple really can be best sometimes. Though who knew how much longer it could last? It was a good thing it didn't need to endure the onslaught for long, for Farrin's tuba cleared the rest of the way, blocking anyone who went inside from further harm.

From the dolls and fire at least. Unfortunately for Kaito, the drone he threw would fly back towards him. No whale was projected, and instead it circled the hero student, blaring an alarm all the while. Coupled with the cowbell making its own cowbell noises, it's sure to be grating to anyone's ears, especially if Kaito chose to venture inside the tube while his alarm drone continued to follow him.

Kenta meanwhile got his own drone under control and it returned to shooting its intended targets: the dolls. With his sticker stuck to his forehead, he could feel himself run faster, getting ever closer to the door.

Before he could move any further though, a mass of purple slammed the ground before him, blocking the student from what may well be the exit to their challenge. If he looked up, he'd see that of all the things it could possibly be, it was a worm on a string, but outrageously large instead of the piece of fuzz kids liked to lead around their fingers. And what was perched on its head, as if it was steering the thing? That blasted monkey.



"AH AH AH OOH OOH AH!" It cried out its charge as the oversized worm swung its tail, aiming to swipe Kenta right back into the flaming aisles.

Swirly Whirly Sceptre Drawback: Has a chance of triggering said equipment’s drawback when used.

More Cowbell Drawback: The cowbell may not have any effect other than creating a loud noise, both drawing attention to the user and causing them to be caught off guard should the other piece of equipment they use trigger its drawback!

Northern Whale Path Drawback: There is a chance the drone might malfunction, setting off its alarm and circling around the user.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... The smacks and slams against the door did little to ease her anxiety, but at the very least the action gave her something new to focus on. With it she could center herself, and prepare for- by Tzeentch's tentacle eyes, what the fuck was Dynagel doing?! "No touch!" she yelled, shuffling a step away from Kenta while also slapping his hand away. She was not happy with him, but it wasn't something that would last. They still had to make it out, and she had to work with everyone here, including Hikari. Where was Hikari? Oh well, no point worrying; if she went off and got got by the arms of doom that was her problem. Oh. And then there was that thing. Wait a minute, that monkey took tear gas to the face and two flashbangs, how the heck was it riding that abomination?! There was only one thing Jun could do in this situation. Well, there were a few things, but one step at a time. She opened the menu, selected the cucumber, and then- "POCKET SNAKE!" activated it while chucking it as hard as she could at the monkey as hard as she could. Whether it succeeded or failed, she'd pull out a flashbang and toss it to Kaito. "I have to be explicit: use this on the worm!" The cowbell was really screwing up her concentration, and the only saving grace as of right now was the fact that Farrin had bought them a little safety. "I've got some bo staff and those bean things from the fairytale. That grow giant stalks." She wasn't saying this to brag, she literally couldn't think straight and needed someone to help her formulate a plan. Plans were hard. haos ensued. Luckily, the bellowing tuba protected Farrin from the horrid cacophony of Kaito's malfunctioning equipment. What's more, Farrin was able to play his instrument long enough to extend a protective tunnel down the remainder of the aisle and across most of the next one ahead. If they made it through to the other side, they would be deposited fairly close to the exit. But Lady Luck was a fickle mistress. Where she offered the team relatively safe passage and, for that moment, spared Farrin's ears of the aforementioned malfunctions, she taxed them in a lack of team cohesion and one large snaky boy just near the exit. 

Jun had swiped away Kenta's offering, and then the lad took off down the aisle. "Wait! Nuh, I just said..." his voice dropped as the distance grew, "I said a tad distance, like in case the tuba exploded n' we needed immediate backup, no' ta' sprint fer' the end," he sighed. The situation was not quite ideal. Kenta was off in the distance, closing on the snake. Kaito was ahead, though it wasn't too late for him to turn around and opt for the tunnel that just blew out of the tuba. Jun was just at Farrin's side, and Hikari... no feckin clue. 

Now that the sound was reaching Farrin, he cupped his ears for a moment, but only a moment, as another plane dived for a kamikaze attack. Farrin stood his height and chopped the toy sideways, forcing it into the nearby shelves. He couldn't manage a sprint with his legs as they were, but his reaction time was still sharp. His profound lack of speed, though, determined the next course of action. 

"Go down the tunnel first. Without me' quirk, I'd slow us down bein' up front. Yuv' more weaponry between us n' could maybe use 'em magic beans ta' restrain the snake, so yuh need ta' make it ta' the other side fast n' back up Dynogel. I'll take up the rear" Farrin started. Then he would look up and shout to Kaito, "Thundercell! Tunnel 'ere will take us ta' near the exit. I suggest we take it ta' avoid takin' unnecessary damage." Assuming Jun went along with the plan and started down the tunnel, she would have some distance between her and Kaito if his gear was still rattling when he entered if he did. Whoever did opt for the tunnel, Farrin would wait until they got inside, then start down the passage after everyone made it in.

-No new gear used. Farrin suggests Jun go through the tuba tunnel first so she can reach the other side faster and help Kenta with the snake. He also suggests Kaito use the tunnel. Assuming any students use the tunnel, he enters last, not wanting to block the narrow passage since he's slow at the moment.

Kenta stared blankly at Jun as she swatted his hand, making the pills he had drop to the floor “THOSE WERE MY MOST EXPENSIVE ITEM WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!” before he rushed forward… Maybe the shock of the music spooked her, maybe she thought he looked like a toy? He wasn’t sure, though as he ran he started to reconsider his plan, especially with Farrin calling out for him to wait. If they didn’t have the pills they couldn’t join up with him after he scouted the exit…though he could at least approach it and see what was waiting for them there, and then head back to assist with them moving forward.

Moving forward there were a lot of the same, planes, and grabby dolls, but he managed to avoid them with his boosted speed. Though I did seem the toy aerial force managed to send out something extra at him. It looked like a bomber and was almost 5 times bigger than the rest, almost as big as his chest… But nothing he couldn’t handle on his way to the exit…until the snake blocked his path. The snake in cooperation with the monkey, so that was neat. “Monkey’s in front of us!” he called out, using the drone pointer to redirect it towards the snake, aiming for the monkey on top

His second move would be to try and run, but the tail was coming down on him from one side, and the large plane was charging at him from the other. He ran towards the plane and away from the tail while calling out “Be right back!” taking his final pill out of his pocket and swallowing it, looking at the entrance of Farrin’s tunnel…hoping to teleport back to where they were before and trying to pick up some of the remaining pills. And well… he imagined if the drawback involved being teleported willy-nilly, he still would be in a better spot than here.

When the cowbell didn’t seem to have any effect, Kaito used the whale drone. What luck. Just like the drone used by the other student, this one decided to do its own thing. He watched as the drone used its alarm but instead of flying where it was supposed to be flying, it turned and started circling around him. ”Damn, do none of these drones work? Anyone starting to miss using their quirk?”[break[break]

Seeing that no matter where Kaito went, the drone followed, he deactivated both of the equipped tools. As they moved further, there was that blasted monkey and it was riding some giant purple toy thing. He was already tired of this motif and never wanted to see a toy again. He was even slightly thankful that he didn’t have many toys growing up too.[break][break]

Jun tossed him a flashbang to use on the worm which Kaito nodded. ”You got it.” He smirked and armed the flashbang, throwing it to the worm. He hoped that this time things went as planned because he wanted to get out of there and feel the electricity coursing through his veins. To think that quirks are like nature and no one thinks much of them until they can’t access them any longer. Boy, he fell into that same category.[break][break]

Farrin called out to Kaito and told him about the tunnel. Changing his trajectory, he moved towards the tunnel and entered it, hoping for a moment to catch his breath.

She had no idea what this thing did, she she activated the Bo-mb staff, feeling like a really weird monk in some movie. While out she didn't make a move to attack just yet, ducking behind the door as Kaito tossed the grenade, waiting on her teammates to follow up behind her. She would have to get the beans out sooner or later, but there was no use doing so until all ordinance was done. Round 5.

Most of the pills were lost to the flaming aisles once they've been slapped out of Kenta's hands. Someone else could try to pick them up, but was it really worth getting burned for them? Or even back-tracking when the goal was to escape?

Jun's aim was true and the snake latched on to the monkey like it was its sworn enemy. Maybe it was. In any case, the monkey was tied up, smacking the miniature snake in the head with its cymbal as they both fell off the worm.

With nothing to direct it, the worm began to ram itself against the side of the tube Farrin provided. With the structure weakened by the fire, sizeable dents formed with each hit. Before it could do further damage however, it got stunned by Kaito's grenade, and it shook its head to alleviate the brights lights from its vision. It did leave the students to venture through the tunnel without getting tossed around inside.

Kenta wasn't fairing better though. Not only did his drone spin out of control again to shoot its pebbles in all directions, but the pill he took wouldn't take him back to where the other pills were dropped. Instead he'd find himself in the air, projected to land on top of the worm. He's in the for the ride of his life.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Perfect! Jun dropped the staff and pulled up the menu, taking the growth packets and crouching just to the left of the tunnel opening. "Nice shot!" she called out, glad to see that the grenades were still doing their job. Jun didn't know how they all would operate without quirks and with Hikari, but apart from a few shenanigans things were working out really well. Teamwork wasn't spot on, but then again for a bunch of strangers things could be so much worse. Mostly. Kenta was currently flailing about in the air. Based on what she had seen, the gear that everyone was using had the potential to backfire. She had been pretty lucky so far...and as she looked at this packet and the serum she couldn't help but wonder, If I use this, will I screw everyone over? Unfortunately, she didn't have much of a choice the in matter. That worm was between them and their way out, and Kenta was falling towards the ground. Worm? he looked like he was falling towards the worm. So she decided to make a gamble. She took the last two flashbangs off her belt and tossed them to Kaito, taking a breath. "Use these once you start seeing green! We need to make a break for it, and I don't know what this will do." She dumped all the seeds on the ground, looking at Farrin as he finally made his appearance. "Both of you start running! This stuff is going to grow rapidly, and I don't know what'll happen! I'll be right behind you!" She dumped the serum on the seeds, grabbing both the door and the staff and started to take off just a little ways behind the pair. Man, Farrin really was slow without his quirk, wasn't he? Guess she should start challenging him to footraces. Either way, she'd keep an eye on the seeds and the worm and Kenta, looking for her change to (potentially) get her last teammate and run for the exit. That was, assuming no one else's equipment malfunctioned. That would be bad and ruin everything. he large plastic tube bounced about as the racket outside made contact. Even hardened, the interior was slowly giving to dents and other pockmarks. But ultimately, the tunnel held even if it did roll a little. When Farrin exited, it was to the sight of the snake and Jun's plan of action. Whatever she and Kaito laid into the fuzzy beast so far, he hadn't seen it, but it was clear Jun had an idea, and Farrin wasn't about to argue. Whatever she had in mind, he had to trust it would benefit them. Arguing would only waste that ever precious resource- time. 

 Farrin beelined it toward the exit, which, with his legs all torn up, wasn't all that fast, but he would try to do his part. At the moment, that meant getting out of the way. The crown item wasn't of much help in a team environment, the time it would take to create another tunnel wasn't worth the benefit, and Kenta landed atop the beastie, any tear gas lobbed the snake's way might rise up and effect him too. 

So, at slow-mo Joe speeds, Farrin darted for the exit. Even should he make it to the doors, he would wait for the outcome of Jun's plan. He wasn't leaving unless he knew the others were all on approach. His gear might not be best suited to the situation, and his legs were like jelly, but even with chronokinesis muted, Farrin was stronger than most. If he needed to tackle the beastie so everyone could vacate, he would.

tldr: Farrin ran for the exit. Whether he reaches it or not, he's ready to back the others up by outright charging into the big snake, though he hasn't done so yet.

“SO IS SLAPING SOMEONE TRYING TO HELP!” Kenta replied to Jun, though in his head he did know cursing would probably not gain him any points here…though at the time he had a lot of things on his head, and filtering his language was somewhere far of priority-wise.
Though even with prioritizing his plans they all seemed to go to hell, his drone going haywire again and even pelting him with some of the rubber bullets before he got warped by the pill…straight up into the air. Well, guess him thinking how likely the pill was to screw him over didn’t reverse psychology reality… just great.

He was teleported above the wormy thing and Monkey, and falling right down…and it seemed the larger plane was also in hot pursuit of him. He was thinking about using the plane to his advantage…now he didn’t seem to have a choice. As he started falling down he first moved the laser point directing the drone at the snake at full speed, before dropping the pointer. He was hoping the drone would fly in and ram itself against the snake, so even if it did go haywire it was close enough to hit it as collateral. As he fell, he drifted his body to move himself towards the larger toy plane which was ascending slower than he was descending…

It was touch and go but he managed to land belly first on top of the plane, clinging hard with one arm while the other quickly slapped one more of the Boosting stickers on his forehead. At the very least he stopped the fall as he called out “Gah…You guys do your thing, I…I got this!” From the surface it could have looked peculiar, him quickly grabbing on with the second hand as the plane struggled with his weight to regain control…but he was not in immediate danger of falling on the enemy. So that was something.

The situation was pushing against them but they were pushing back, sort of. Aside from all the malfunctioning drones, were they doing bad? Kaito didn’t think so. Jun managed to throw a snake at the cymbal-toy monkey which latched onto the thing. It made the strange toy focus on the snake and not them which was a good start. In doing so, both of them fell off the weird worm looking thing.

As the worm rammed itself into the tub, Kaito chucked the grenade given to him by Jun which stunned the toy. That gave them the opportunity to go through the tunnel.

Jun praised him on his shot which brought a smile out of Kaito. ”Thanks.” He didn’t think he would get any praise from anyone let alone an upperclassman. He was just a poor kid from the projects who wanted to make a difference in the world. He hasn't done anything spectacular at the school yet. He focused on the task at hand since he’d have time to celebrate later.

He was given two more flashbangs from Jun with the instructions to use them at a certain point. He nodded as he listened to her. The moment she told him and Farrin to run, he took off. The moment he saw green, he primed the flashbangs and threw them at the worm. He could only hope for the best and that they didn’t backfire on him.

Round 6.

Vines grew at an incredibly fast rate from the seeds Jun planted, and they wrapped around the worm in due time. They weren't exactly the strongest - they seemed to be made more for entanglement than true restraint - but it kept the fluffy creature in place for long enough for Kenta's drone to crash into it, followed by one of the stun grenades Kaito threw blowing up in its face. The other just kinda landed on its head with a thunk before it rolled to the floor. Turned out it was just a dud.

Speaking of the floor though, as nice as it would've been for the rest of the way to the exit to be clear, the toy megamall didn't seem done with the hero hopefuls just yet. As soon as Farrin made his next step, he'd find himself suddenly flung in the air, as if the floor itself pushed his foot skyward. If he looked down, he'd see that springs were attached to the tile he just stepped on.



Jun and Kaito were also liable to get themselves caught unawares if they kept running as they were. The only one able to avoid the traps on the ground was Kenta, who remained airborne thanks to his trusty plane. The sticker on his forehead would keep his wits sharp as he steered the aircraft straight for the door. Unless he decided to pick up some friends along the way. That was always another option.

Whatever choice was made, it had to be made fast as the giant worm was already shaking off its stunned state and pulling against its floral restraints.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Wow, that worked beautifully! Jun was pleased, and to top it off that annoying drone of Kenta's finally did something useful! Everything was turning up green across the board, and even better he managed to save himself and was on his way to the door. Then Farrin hit the springboards, oh no. It didn't help that she strayed a little too close to that field as well and got blown backwards. With a grunt, she looked up and evaluated. Assuming the floor between here and the door were these springboards then this would be difficult to navigate, but a simple exercise get get through. Unfortunately, there was a giant angry fuzzy worm that was not going to care about this floor. She looked around and decided that the best thing to do was to get as many people to the door as possible. "Dynagel, adjust course this way! Got a pickup for you!" Jun braced herself, preparing the door and looking over at Kaito. "C'mon, I'm giving you a boost up!" With the two of them converging, she angled the door to give Kaito a platform to jump up, pushing up with her legs in order to give Kaito enough height to catch Kenta's hand/leg so there wouldn't be enough altitude loss for the two of them to crash into the field. With that out of the way, they could easily get to the door. Now the fun part; getting herself and Farrin across this field. The easiest way to go about this would be for him to make another tube, but what if it backfired? They were running out of time, and all she had left were this door and the staff that apparently shifted momentum or something like that. She was worried that in trying to pole-vault over would result either of them ending up in the jaws of the beast. Of course, she was also speculating... "We're running out of time, that thing isn't going to be held for long. This staff changes momentum somehow, and you have that tuba tube thing. How do you want to play this?" nder just about any other circumstances, Farrin would have cursed his shite luck. No quirk meant no speed. The item crowning his inventory wasn't of much use in this simulation. And now he, the slowest member of the team, was losing progress toward the door. His greatest contributions had come in the form of early cover via his gas grenades and the tunnel. Discounting those instances, his fatigued legs made him more of a liability than an asset. But! He was moving fast now. Really fast. He was flying through the air, straight toward the worm. It was entangled and disoriented—optimal conditions for unconventional warfare.

"Lookie 'ere yuh' two-bit gobshite," he shouted, entirely aware he was insulting a giant toy. 

Farrin's hair whipped about as he closed the distance and threw his fist forward. He wasn't exactly sure where the others were, but if he could knock the oversized worm down, they could focus on bypassing the spring flooring and make for the exit. So, Farrin did what he did best: punched things really hard. Or at least he tried to. Either the shot would connect, or he was liable to launch right past the snake if it moved its oversized head too much and smack into the ceiling or some such. Whether the attack landed or otherwise, he would plummet toward the ground afterward. 

Without his quirk, Farrin couldn't easily correct his fall. So, he crashed hard on his left arm and did his best to force his momentum into a roll. Even tapered off, the force of the crash saw pain stretch out his left side. With grit teeth, he would pick himself up and amble back toward the exit, where he was met with Jun.

"You could jump n' use the staff on descent ta' push yuh' back up n' give yuh' more airtime, maybe leap right over," he offered with a grunt, his right arm clutching his left.

It wasn't broken, but something wasn't right. Out of place maybe? He hadn't been able to land properly. Even a souped-up hero outfit, especially one fairly damaged by the earlier flames and rubber rounds, couldn't absorb the force of the fall entirely. He could try playing the instrument one-handed but would need a large, heavy tunnel to ensure its weight could resist the upward thrust of the tile traps. If not, it was liable to be launched back as he had. 

"Probably the safest way ta' see yuh' outta 'ere," he continued, then took a few steps aside. "Dun worry 'bout me. I'll get across." 

He wasn't so sure about that, but Farrin was no quitter. He gave his left arm a whirl. It hurt a lot, but it wasn't unresponsive. So, he tapped through the menu and selected the tuba again. " 'ere we go." He blew into the instrument, holding the note as long as possible to grow the tunnel out as much as possible. The more weight, the better.
