Another year, another Sports Festival. Rui had watched previous iterations of it, or any other events UAU put on. She had always dreamed of sneaking in herself, maybe ramming the door down and taking over the place and finally giving all those stupid heroes what they deserved. While today wasn't that day, the little Mummy had found a suitable disguise that could help her at least get into some sports activities without causing a total panic. That is, until the time was right of course.

She could only foresee the day going in her favor. She was a genius after all.

She was going to have her fun, have snacks, drinks, play silly little games and then when everyone least expects it, civilians dead everywhere. The culprit? Her of course, and then she would proceed to kill like at least 100 heroes, all pros and all the best that the government could pump out. It was an easy path to the top, televised and all so that everyone would know to fear Mummy, to fear Rui Matsui!!

Her plan to conquering all of Japan within one day? Play the best goddamn baseball game this world had ever seen.

''I can't decide if the drinks or the snacks is the best part of this event!'' She happily enjoyed a juice box she had managed to swipe from a stand earlier. ''So what do you know about the other competitors?'' She asked the person next to her. Obviously her baseball team was the best ever because she was self-proclaimed Captain, but no sports drama was complete without a good rivalry. ''No one knows it, but I'm the best pitcher in Japan!'' She boasted, but without embellishing the facts too much. She could have declared herself the best in the world after all!

Like her volunteer work at the sweets stand, Ylva had signed up to play a pickup baseball game against the community. Most of her teammates were other hero students who had signed up for this willingly to get some face time with the community, but Ylva was only there out of self interest. Publicity meant that she would get an internship at one of the top agencies and to do so she would need to put herself out of her comfort zone. [break][break]

As the game would begin, everyone was to line up and shake hands with the other team out of good sportsmanship, and Ylva would instead give a slight bow, citing her desire not to touch anyone, until she finally got to a very familiar face. She'd run into Rui time and time again and she never failed to be a pain. In this case, Ylva was in a unique position where any funny business meant she'd be removed and arrested, so when her eyes met Rui's she said just one thing. [break][break]

Line up and shake hands with the enemy, whatever. All she had to do was bear it for now and soon all of Tokyo would be under her control. She was all fake smiles right up until she passed Ylva. She didn't remember the girl's name, but she remembered the face of the one who had wronged her in the past. ''I'm not! I didn't lose the first time you can't just decide that on your own! You're going down!'' She huffed. To anyone from the outside looking in it might just look like old sports rivals throwing out some banter, but this was a matter of life and death to Rui. Soon, it would be to Ylva too.

Being that she was her team's pitcher, she was in the perfect position to not only terrorize these useless civilians, but get her revenge against ice girl as well. Not many knew it, but Rui wasn't half bad at throwing things. Sure, she didn't have many muscles to boast of, but her dexterity wasn't terrible either, making her have a bit of aim and technique with the balls she threw. Not every throw was perfect, but she didn't need them to be either. As long as Ylva walked up and grabbed that bat, that was all that mattered.

Once she did, Rui used a little bit of sleight of hand she had threatened a magician to teach her to swap the baseball for one her own, custom ones. Being that she was besties with Bakuretsu, she had learned how to make explosives. Sure, Retsu never taught her, but she had glanced at it every now and then and figured she was a better explosives manufacturer than her bestie by now. Still, credit where credit was due she did give her the idea to start pursuing explosives.

''Eat shit, hero!'' She yelled as she hurled the ball at Ylva.

The ball in question wasn't actually explosive. If anything, it was lighter making it all the easier to bat it out really far, not that Ylva needed the assist.

"I didn't decide it on my own. That's what happened..." Oh good, she was as delusional as impetuous. Anyone else would have questioned why she wasn't detained since she was not trying too hard to hide her identity, but it was perhaps that she wasn't as much of a threat as she thought. The last few encounters proved that, and any pros who got wind of her being here were probably trying not to make a scene, especially after the Dream World incident.[break][break]

She didn't share her revelation with her teammates since she believed that dealing with Rui would be as easy as all the other times. So when it was her turn up at bat she would place the helmet on her head and take a metal bat up with her, something that she was ready to use on Rui if she did something stupid but mostly to prevent any funny business with the ball.[break][break]

Taking a stance, her eyes narrowed as Rui yelled and threw the pitch, surprising Ylva that she actually had good form. It was all the more satisfying when she connected with the ball and sent it flying farther than expected. A home run! Her teammates cheered as she rounded the bases, Ylva not breaking eye contact with Rui the whole time. "...and it's happening again."[break][break]

Rui eagerly awaited the moment where the ball blew up in Ylva's face and killed her, but it never came. Instead, it was replaced by disappointment as her competitor scored a homerun and even taunted her back to make things worse.

Cheating.

Cheating, she's cheating!

That had to be it right? Otherwise how could her 'bomb' not have gone off? Retsu always made it look so easy just throwing stuff around like she was going through life improvizing every step. ''You got lucky! That's what they call beginner's luck!'' She pointed at Ylva. Oh well, she couldn't exactly take the throw back and she didn't want to get kicked out, so if her enemy was cheating then it was only fair if she resorted to a little cheating too. Once the break came around Rui had arranged for a bunch of drinks to be brought to the enemy team. ''Let's show them how much fun we're having today by offering them some drinks! It's a hot day after all.'' She got a couple of her teammates to go with her, taking up trays to go around and hand out drinks to the rival team. What they didn't know was Rui filled the drinks with laxatives! All she had to do was bank on Ylva being so stupid that she didn't see it coming. She probably thought Rui wasn't scary at all, and that could work to her advantage! She just needed to get past the absolute ice nerd so she could poison her and her whole team.

"I think you're the beginner here." She would say flatly as she went back to the bench to let the next person up to bat. She didn't expect much from her fellow students as usual, but she was now more concerned about winning. Rui was annoying and if she wanted her ejected from the festival entirely, without causing a scene, she just needed to have her do it herself. As arrogant as Ylva could be, she still respected the hero system and intended to uphold it.[break][break]

She would keep an eye on Rui watching her continually get frustrated over her lack of striking anyone out until it was time to swap. In the spirit of the Sports Festival, each change up, there was a brief intermission where people would chat, stretch, grab a few drinks, etc.[break][break]

With the least subtly possible, she watched as Rui hatched a scheme to poison everyone's drinks, and this prompted Ylva to get ahead of it by grabbing a bunch of drinks and uncharacteristically handed them out to her team much to their surprise. Ylva would face Rui when she approached and as she was handed a drink she'd point to the rest of her team "Unfortunately we've already had our drinks and I cooled them personally." A bit of frost would be shown on Rui's own poisoned drink "Here, have this one."[break][break]

She stomped her foot at Ylva's comment, unable to think of a good comeback. Not that she needed to when she was perfectly fine using underhanded tactics. Ylva was all smug now, but she wasn't going to be once operation poison the drinks kicked off! It was a genius play that no one could see coming. After all, who would suspect a hardened villain like her to try to get ahead of the competition by cheating? Never mind suspecting her, Ylva was a bastard, but was she going to call out someone showing such a kind gesture as to try to hydrate her opponents?

Apparently yes. Ylva wasn't just a bastard she was a cold bastard.

''What? But- but you.'' She would have expected it from her Jun bestie, but for Ylva to give her own team drinks? It didn't make any sense! She looked past Ylva to see that her team had indeed been given drinks already, which made Rui fume all the more. With her anger boiling over once she looked down to notice the ice in her poisoned drink she tossed the whole tray aside. ''Never mind, I'm not thirsty!'' She threw her arms up, walking a few paces away from Ylva before walking towards her again, faster this time. ''I ought to just kill you right here and now.'' She hissed under her breath. She could do it too. She didn't have a knife, but she could grab the baseball bat and bash her head in. ''Tell me, hero, what's it like being a goody two shoes that have to do what others tell you to? Aren't you tired of being their little dog?'' She smiled, crossing her arms.

Rui had been backed into a corner and just as Ylva had expected she would lash out. It was a win win for her regardless of what she did. If Rui decided to go on the offensive not only could Ylva use her quirk to subdue her, but she had tons of Pro Heroes around to help her if need be. If she performed well, she was sure this would end up with internship offers only furthering her goal. If Rui decided to keep her mouth shut, then Ylva had won in her own way...it was almost cathartic after her experience with Andy, Jun, and Gen in the last event.[break][break]



"You wouldn't understand. You're up to bat. You get struck out and you guys lose." Ylva would head to the outfield; pitching and being quick on her feet wasn't her specialty, so she chose a position where she could use her strength to her advantage. Whoever was pitching better strike Rui out or...well Ylva wouldn't do anything so there were no consequences. She didn't want to listen to Rui any longer.[break][break]

If anyone deserved to die by her hands it was Ylva Riis. Jun had been an annoyance to her, but never had she so directly taunted her. What's more is Rui had gotten to Jun before, but no matter what she tried Ylva always acted like she was better, like she was always one step ahead of her and it drove her crazy. One day she was going to kill Ylva with her own hands. That day wasn't today, but if she was a little patient she knew her chance would come.

''That's the best you got? I bet your teachers told you to say that.'' She huffed, before stomping back to her team to take up the bat. She wasn't a strong batter, but she knew how to hit a ball. If only her homemade grenade balls would have worked, or if she had managed to smuggle a gun in, then Ylva wouldn't be feeling so holier than thou right now! On her first swing she missed, on her second swing she also deliberately missed. On the third and final swing her grip on the bat 'accidentally slipped' and flew right in the face of the pitcher, knocking them over on the spot. When people from both teams rushed up to check on them Rui used the opportunity to slip away through the crowd. She knew Ylva's quirk involved freezing, but could she freeze a small target that was using a crowd of people as a shield? Unlikely. She was going to come back for her, revenge was going to be hers for sure.

You had to be a little crazy to be a hero, but you had to be mentally unwell to try and take up villainy in this society. If you couldn't be the strongest, then you needed to have a good fight or flight response; Rui seemed to be the exception. In her previous encounters, Ylva had used moves that should have outright killed her, and yet she was here. Whether they both knew it or not, they were destined to clash one day in what would likely be their final confrontation. [break][break]

She had pulled some tricks out before, so Ylva was ready for anything Rui was going to send her way. Her first swing was a miss and Ylva was none the wiser. The second was another miss but her eyes narrowed as something seemed...off. This came to fruition on the third one as she intentionally let go of the bat, making it look like an accident, and struck the pitcher. As everyone rushed to help, Ylva slowly headed towards Rui but was too late to catch her. She had ducked into a crowd and due to her atypical body Ylva wasn't able to track her. Instinctively she knew this wasn't going to be the last she'd seen her, although she hoped otherwise. Her team had won and while everyone else celebrated in ignorance Ylva was on high alert, waiting for the inevitable retaliation that would come. Just not that day.[break][break]
