That did the trick. It was rare that something went this smoothly but as the shelving collapsed with a loud groan Retsu reckoned they just be done with the chaff. A more silent groan resounded when she heard another door open followed by the sound of gunfire. Some things change and others stay the same. The moment she had that thought more trouble popped up as if the world was waiting to laugh at her every hope. Scrambling to move from her cover as it was riddled with bullets Retsu threw a smoke grenade in front of the group, hopefully obscuring their sight long enough for her to reposition. Not wasting any time she rushed to the side crossing into the lane next to her before turning to flank them. Counting the seconds it'd take to reach the end of the lane Retsu drew Temper in a reverse grip and positioned the hand holding it below her pistol for increased stability. The second any stepped around the corner Retsu would open fire, her speed affecting her accuracy but the weight of fire more than making up for it. Once she made it into melee range Temper would ignite with a roar, its intense heat burning furrows through her enemies while her handgun fired until it ran out of bullets. All the while she'd do her best to remain in between the vigilantes to prevent them from getting a clear line of fire. With some luck that'd be enough to prevent her from eating lead. Retsu clicked her tongue at the thought. Gahd damnit.

For once Retsu's contribution to the cascade of explosion wasn't the largest. Well, at least the one she set off personally wasn't. The force of the blast rattled her bones but it did far more to the poor bastard on the other side of the window. As she flew through the space that had once held the passenger's upper body and his seat's backrest her right arm lashed out to the side with her elbow crooked, catching the driver in a lariat to arrest her momentum. "Shoot me and y'll blow us all ta kingdom come!" Retsu shouted the moment she was inside. With her arm hooked around the driver's throat momentum took her sideways, a kick snapping another merc's neck before she kicked off the side of the vehicle to revert her momentum and land on the driver's lap. The coughs and wheezes coming from his crushed windpipe made it clear exactly how much of a danger he'd be to her. In fact, he was far more of a hindrance to his companions now. Unless they were willing to shoot through him she had some excellent cover and even then they'd have to get through both sides of his body armor to get to her. With a manic grin she span the steering wheel to send her new ride careening into the vehicle next to it. The fun part about an armored truck like this was that now that she was inside there was fuck all the other vehicles could do about her. Blackened windows meant they had no clue where in the vehicle she was and reinforced armor meant they probably couldn't get to her even if they did. That only left the other men inside for her to deal with. With the driver out of commission, the passenger next to him only half the man he used to be and the one right behind the driver having caught a lethal dose of whiplash that only left three of them, hardly a fair fight. Especially when she had a hand free to pull loose her handgun and fire from the safety of her cover. Having rammed the escort vehicle to the side Retsu leaned into it fully, grinding them against the railing until they'd either slam to a stop or spiral out of control. With some luck it'd grind the rest of this convoy to a halt. Retsu grinned. They took out her ride. They were losing all of theirs. It was that simple.

Retsu could feel something crack and it definitely hadn't been her fist. Her grin widened just in time for her hand to be caught while the horned bastard went for a headbutt. She replied as she always did. Leaning with the punches and making sure she hit harder than she got. When her forehead met his Retsu saw stars for the first time in their fight but likely not the last. Her left eye stung as her eye patch was dislodged by the impact and half of it became exposed to sudden brightness. "Quirks weren't a fookin' thing back then shit fer brains!" Retsu shouted with her last breath before the air was knocked out of her lungs. Hacking and wheezing she pulled her eye patch off entirely with a growl and shoved it into her pocket. Fook. He'd used the moment she was trying to breathe again to take his distance. Like hells she was gonna let him get his way! "Fook you ya scaley fook, eat shit and die!"Placing herself firmly in between Jack and Springboard so he couldn't use any of the fifty fooking heavy hitters hero fooks like him always named individually Retsu pulled a frag grenade off her harness and tossed it at him in an arc. Clicking her tongue as he blew it away before it could detonate her eyes couldn't help but hone in on the glittering energy he'd used for just a moment. The focus pushed down the pain in her left eye for the slightest second before she got charged and had to let her instincts take over once more. With a manic grin on her face Retsu raised her arms in a guard stance, feigning a right jab towards his face once more before going for a knee strike to the guts. Once the media arrived more law-abiding glory hogs were never far behind. The gloves were off, she'd hit him with everything she had and get the hells out before they could wear her down through attrition.

The plan had gone wrong. It was a realization that was loud, oppressive and stunningly obvious. Mostly due to the flashbang. In fact, entirely due to it. The fact that it went off much closer to her than she'd intended wasn't one she needed to do much investigating for to find out. Luckily she had her back to the wall and the flash occurred down the alley to the side of her face that she was wearing an eye patch on but it still stung. Even so it was hardly the first time one of those had gone off much closer to her face that she'd have liked. Retsu had plenty of experience with it. Gritting her teeth and firmly setting one shoulder firmly against the wall Retsu turned sideways and aimed her pistol around the corner, ignoring the pulsing pain in her eye and the rhythmic buzzing in her ears that was sticking around for longer than she was used to. No, wait, those were police sirens. That wasn't good. Sometimes discretion was the better part of valor. Unfortunately that wasn't Retsu's jam so she compromised for firing a bunch of parting shots into the alley and throwing a frag along with them in case her opponent was still there. "Eat shit motherfooker!"
At the same time her eye scanned for an escape route. With her bike being rendered analogue and down a wheel she'd have to leave of foot. Just in case he’d fled inside she reached into the pouch on her side that had a trio of non-lethal explosives, brushing the dust off a foam grenade and tossing it at the bar’s front door. The last thing she wanted was to get flanked and shot in the back. Now all she had to do was rush past the alley once the grenade went off and she could be home free. Easy peasy.

"Weird flex but okay," Retsu shrugged in reponse to Olivia's comment on explosives. "Front it is. Works fer me. Dun' fook up any papers ya foind inside."As far as the building they were about to enter went it was so stereotypically a second-hand car dealership Retsu was surprised they hadn't been busted solely for looking too normal. A glass fronted reception room that had a wide open floorplan, semi-circle couches around small round tables, flimsy rotatable holders for a bunch of advertisement folders and a large fancy looking counter at the back made up the main area where customers were received. At the back was one door leading to the manager's office and another leading to the garage slash depot where the overpriced additions the smooth talking salesmen talked the customers into getting were added to the rust buckets they sold right before being shipped off. "Take the one on the left," Retsu said with a wave of her hand, cutting off the salesman that had turned their way the second the front door's chime rung. "Ah'll take the one behind the counter. If ya foind any papers with schematics on 'em y'r in the roite place. If ya don't ah'll meetcha in the back."
Not bothering to waste a bullet on the salesman that was clearly way out of his depth Retsu simply laid him out with a straight right to the chin before continuing on. At this time of day the depot was likely to have both members of Ars Natura and normal employees in it. Retsu couldn't say she cared in the slightest how Olivia chose to deal with any of them so long as none of her stuff was lot in the crossfire. Besides. Their more illegal dealings all happened out of the fourth room, a separate workshop in the back where they officially kept vehicles in need of far larger repairs. Either that or they kept it locked up in the office she was heading too. Hopping over the counter Retsu figured she was about to find out.

"Well, the gang's all here!" Retsu shouted to be heard over the gunfire and mayhem right after she finished taking a quick glance out of cover. "Now ya ken all die together!"From her harness Bakuretsu wrenched one of her new newest designs. One inspired in part by the Wishmaker laying down the suppressive fire that was keeping several of them in place. Why, it was almost like he could read her mind. Her eye narrowed at that thought. She'd have to run some tests later just in case. But she digressed. Retsu had designed two types of monofilament wire grenades and the one she'd just thrown around and over the cover she was using was the second version. Specifically it was an air burst variant. Once it detonated in mid-air it would send a large amount of small capsules out, each of which had several monofilament wires on a rapidly rotating spool. Each wire had a length of about two meters and while they couldn't cut through armor or the like they were more than capable of snagging in joints and tearing through any weak spots. In between the carnage wrought by that and the lingering effects of the flashbang Retsu reckoned she had a few seconds before they could gather themselves to strike back. Once the monofilament wire grenade finished going off Retsu popped out of cover with her pistol drawn and opened fire. With unerring focus she would aim at heads, torsos and other vulnerable points, emptying her entire magazine before she ducked back into cover and inserted a new one. With some luck it would be enough to clear the area. If not, well, she had plenty of tools left.

"Hmm," Retsu hummed thoughtfully. That was the most sensible thing she'd ever heard one of those hero types say. More importantly it was mighty convenient right now. "Of course I can," she replied answering snark with a brusqueness that made it clear what would happen if Yoko tried to push her luck with the implied insults. "The whole shebang ey, plannin' ta hunt a Gorgon?" Retsu jested with a grin, keeping a close eye on Yoko's reaction while tapping her finger on the workbench. "Three types sounds doable. What kinda stun rounds 're we talkin'? Rubber bullets ta pack a punch, taser rounds ta paralyze or ya got somethin' else in mind?" Regardless of her opinions on hero students Retsu was a consummate professional when it came to her craft. The identity of the customer didn't matter. She'd make the best damn thing she could so long as they paid. "Hoo~ Buildin' up a brand are ya?" Retsu snorted mockingly. There it was. Regardless of what those damn wannabe do-gooders said that's what it was always about for them. Fame, fortune and making their own mark first and foremost. Disgusting. "Looks easy 'nough," Retsu replied while wholly focused on the picture. Now that she was taking a closer look it felt oddly familiar. Not that she'd seen this specific piece before but definitely items of a similar make. Now where... Ah. The exhibit a few months ago. She didn't know the maker but it was clear they were skilled. Retsu wasn't planning to let herself be outdone. "Hmm, barrel could fit inta the shaft, handle at the end ken be a screw-on ta remove parts. Trigger could be worked inta the button ta open it. Chamber 'n ejection port ken be hidden in the groove, maybe a turn ta reveal 'r hide it? Either tha or 'aving the button be on a removeable plate fer those and puttin' the trigger elsewhere," Retsu muttered to herself while scribbling down a primitive schematic. She could see several ways to construct it but it'd come down to Yoko's preferences and what it was intended to be used for. "Ya plannin' ta use it in CQC as well?" Retsu asked while turning to face Yoko. "And d'ya want the casing ta be wood or metal?"Retsu knew what she'd pick of course but she was no stranger to customers wanting alterations to her designs to better fit their aesthetic. Thinking on the details would have to wait until she knew. Each material had their own properties after all.

Retsu kept her distance as Forevermore got to work, staying close enough to have an idea of what was going on but far enough to stay out of his way. More importantly, far enough to ditch the joint if he messed up and brought hell down upon them. Not that she didn't think she couldn't take all of them of course but grenades were a rather difficult tool to keep specific people alive with. The Hayashida-gumi had to go that was for sure but the information their boss possessed was far more important to her than their disappearance. But she digressed. Only once the area around the front gate was cleared did Bakuretsu approach. With the entrance secured she wondered how he was going to proceed. There was but a single 'official' entrance namely the large gateway in front of them leading through the outer walls. Said gateway led directly to a small inner courtyard flanked on three sides by buildings with thin ornamental windows creating a kill zone with plausible deniability. The building directly opposite the gate had a man leaning forward while holding a cigarette out of one such window while each of the buildings on the side had two more gunmen ready to take on any enemy who entered. Gesturing for the mercenary to continue without offering any words of guidance Retsu couldn't help but wonder how he'd handle it. She was looking forward to seeing his approach. Who knew, maybe she might hire him again in the future if he did well enough.

"Of course you can," Retsu replied to Rui perhaps a bit too quickly, a change that wasn't noticeable to outsiders but akin to a wrong note when one was familiar with their dynamic. Uncharacteristically keeping her mouth shut Retsu handed over one of her newer designs. A thermobaric grenade. Two seconds after the pin was pulled it would cause a small detonation that fired out an aerosol cloud of gas. Half a second later a following, larger explosion would detonate both the grenade and the combustible mixture spread throughout the air. It would destroy everything around it down to the air itself creating a vacuum effect mere moments after. Everything except for Rui herself of course. Retsu had no doubt it'd take more than that to keep the horned devil down. Screams resounded within the club, at first mistaken for ambiance by all but the Wildfire Warriors themselves. Three of them were already headed to the source of the problem by the time Rui shouted her challenge. "Mummy! Don't think you'll be able to get away with it this time!" The one at the front of the trio, a villain by the name of Flamemane, shouted with pistol drawn while approaching. The three heading for Rui were far from the only blue-capped individuals keeping an eye on the situation. From the corner of the room Cyberwolf began to push his way through the crowd while scanning the surroundings for more signs of trouble. His path averted to the entrance upon spotting a second source of trouble. "Well, looks like y'r up, Yinshe," Retsu laughed while aiming her assault rifle at the crowd. Without hesitation she opened fire while swinging the gun from left to right.

An unfamiliar ceiling. No. She'd been here once before, hadn't she? With an uncharacteristic amount of lethargy Retsu slowly turned her head to face the room. It was quiet. Far quieter than it had been last time. As if something had been lost and the very air were in mourning. But what? "Yo, Ruister."It took a moment for her to realize what Rui was looking at. Papers? Odd. She'd never seen the horned devil read before. 'Just what is on those papers?' Her mind whispered to her. Why did she feel so betrayed? It didn't make any sense. Betrayal never came from your enemies. Rui was a rival, nothing more. So why... With gritted teeth Retsu pushed herself upright. The pain was gone leaving a hollow numbness in its place. She hated it. Always had. Gods, she could use a drink. Unfortunately she didn't think she could enjoy it right now. Too many things were running through her mind. Far too many questions with no answers. Her left eye throbbed. No. There were answers. She just had to get them. Casting a look at Rui her mouth half-opened before she paused with a churning feeling in her stomach. She would find her answers, no matter how many people she had to get through to do it. Even if she had to set the whole city ablaze. "Ah owe ya one," Retsu finally spoke up as she forced herself to stand up. Her tone lacked the levity with which she usually spoke to Rui. "Rekken ah need ta get goin' now. Ah'll see ya 'round."

"The one an' only," Retsu responded humorously. How curious. It was rare these days that she conversed with people that didn't recognize her in advance. The sight brought Retsu back to simpler times. Her jaw clenched as a painful twitch in her left eye diverted her train of thought. Ignorance was bliss but Retsu wasn't one to stop just because something was painful. Besides, it wasn't like the past had been much better. Her gaze homed in on the umbrella as Yoko held it out, taking in the whole before her eye flicked between certain parts. By the casual way the student held it Retsu doubted it was a weapon but she'd seen stranger things and faced weirder assassination attempts. Her second-in-command had been sworn to silence in regard to the blueberry incident on pain of death. "Yah, ah fookin' know what an umbrella is," Retsu spat back while looking at Yoko as if she were an idiot. "Kent say ah've 'eard of UAU student packin' heat before but ah guess tahms are changin', ey?"
With a snort she gestured for Yoko to approach while hopping off her workbench. While she didn't have an awful lot of information on the younger Yanai ENKI had a fair amount of basic intel on UAU students. Facade was very insistent they stayed the hells away from them and likely included intel on them so they knew who to avoid but Retsu had never been one to play by others' rules. Fetching her welding equipment she rearranged the mess covering her workbench before she continued speaking, her mind already abuzz with ideas. "You lookin' ta use any kind a' special bullets or just the regular?"
Of course she'd fully be charging her extra for every single request the blonde made. After all, why wouldn't she?

"Then we better get goin', ey?" Retsu responded with a confident grin. Grabbing all the gear she'd need to take down the punks that had her stuff wouldn't take long. She never put her equipment too far out of arms reach. "Ya got a ride?" She sure hoped so. "Ah'll meetcha there if naht." Her bike only fit one and she wasn't gonna turn her back to a potential enemy for the entire trip there. "Ah know the fookin' meaning," Retsu spat back, assuming Olivia didn't get what she meant. "An' ah dun' fookin' care about it. Let 'em use all their dumb words, it'll be good practice fer what'll 'ave ta be put on their headstones when we're done with 'em."Had she not been so lacking in self awareness Retsu might have realized the significance of her phrasing but as it was she was wholly ignorant to the fact that she'd already put them on the same side in her mind. For once her lack of introspection was a good thing. She'd have been mighty pissed if she found out. With her harness full of grenades, Temper on her hip and her guns strapped to her side and back Retsu drove her motorcycle to the place in question. The place were her safe had been transferred to was nothing special nor were its owners. Ars Natura operated out of the back of a used car dealership and had long had a rivalry with another gang called Augmented Intelligence that were all about robotics. It was no wonder they'd snagged her designs off the black market before she'd managed to put the sellers down. It suited their purposes perfectly. Parking her bike Retsu waited for Olivia to catch up before addressing her.
"Should be in there. Avoid anything too destructive, some a' mah shit's in dere too and if it's wrecked it'll be a whoile 'fore ah ken get ya those bombs. Their leader's a gorilla mutant bah the name of Nanaba," Retsu concluded. With her explanation done she grinned. "What d'ya say? We goin' in from the front or d'ya wanna try the roof again?"

Hero society had diverted its resources to more bread and games but unfortunately for Retsu that didn't mean all her enemies had vanished. The Wildfire Warriors had been a pain for ages and one of the few groups that had caused her to actually lose ground in her struggle to claim Tokyo's underbelly. By themselves none of their members could take her on but annoyingly they knew that too and never put themselves into a situation where she could take them down one by one. Even worse was that whenever one part of their organization sighted her the rest used the opportunity to strike at other parts of her turf. Retsu had no intention to change her methods just because the Wildfire Warriors -or the quadruple U's as they were often called- had figured out the weak point. No, that'd never been her game. She'd simply bulldoze through the obstacle in her path, viability be damned. Attacking their headquarters, an exclusive nightclub, was foolish at best and suicidal at worst. If she were alone, that was. Mummy and Yinshe each evened the odds in their own way. The former was a right terror, damn near invincible and far more dangerous than she seemed. The latter was a guided missile aimed at one member of the Wildfire Warriors in particular. Cyberwolf. A quirker capable of integrating functional technology into his own form. With the recent addition of EMP grenades to their arsenal Olivia should be able to handle him or at the very least hold him off while the most devastating parts of his armory were unavailable. It wasn't an ideal set of circumstances but with hero response times being much higher due to the Sports Festival this was the only time she could take them down and it was crucial that she did. If they figured out she was out of the country during her upcoming trip to America who knows how much territory she'd lose. No, they had to go right now no matter how entrenched they were. And entrenched they were, of that there was no doubt. Even from a street away Retsu could hear the booming music coming from their base. It appeared they present in full today, squad leaders and subordinates alike. Rui, Olivia and Retsu had one hell of a fight ahead of them. "Y'all ready?" Retsu asked while cocking the slide of her assault rifle. Once they were in there wouldn't be much time to talk. Hells. Even now she had to raise her voice to be heard over the music, let alone once they were inside. "Ah'll be right behind y'all. Give 'em hell."

"What the fook," Retsu slurred while trying to keep her feet under her. "What the fook does that mean?"Her anger was getting roused. Who the hells were they and what had they done? She couldn't think clearly. Not through the anger and even less through the blood loss. Empty vessel. Those two words rang through her head causing so much pain it felt like her skull was caught in a vice. Her teeth grit so hard she heard something crack, like the ice of detachment hiding the ocean of fire boiling beneath. Her vision narrowed until there was nought but herself and the three people around her. "Experimented?" She repeated after Rui. There was so much she wanted to ask. So much that made both more and less sense now. She'd long known Rui's quirk was impressive even compared to most other high-end ones but never wondered why. This Koi or Ruler they went on about, was it or them responsible? "Heal?!" Retsu almost spat as her vision narrowed ever further, the edges coloring black. Heal her? What was she intending to heal? What the hells was wrong with her? Her anger flared. Who the fook did Mummy think she was to just bring her back to whichever state these Koi people wanted her in?! A loud bang resounded through the surroundings but Retsu didn't hear it. Pure instinct had caused her to pull the trigger even as her senses left her. Whether it hit the man she'd been aiming her pistol at or not wasn't something she had the capacity to register. The last thing she saw before she fell forward onto Rui and her vision faded entirely was the woman's horned visage. It was the same view she'd seen several times before when she'd been at her lowest. When she'd lost her home and narrowly escaped capture it'd been that devilish face that was the first thing she saw as she faded in and out of consciousness. At the factory when her hand had been severed and her own fate had quite literally slipped out of her fingers those horned features had gotten closer and closer just as they did now. Back during a misjudged fight that left her bleeding out on the street those very same eyes had met hers as the villain asked a question that still echoed through Retsu's head every time she was in a state like this. "Do you fear death?"Today she feared something else far more.

The nice thing about warehouses such as these was that they came with their very own inbuilt killboxes, cover and lines of fire. All things that could even the odds when massively outnumbered. Sure, they could also be used against you and The Sentinels had the home advantage but Retsu had never let the details get in her way. Not bothering to fire upon the two fleeing vigilantes she let them lead her back to the rest of their friends. It was said that there was nothing better than dying surrounded by your loved ones and Bakuretsu was more than willing to accommodate. Rushing through the first 'lane' Retsu threw a grenade through a gap between the boxes next to her upon spotting movement. She didn't bother to check whether it'd come from an enemy, something in the surroundings or was merely her imagination. Leaving the clattering noises of her grenade bouncing off several things before it reached the other side behind her she simply kept going until she reached the other end of the lane. She ducked into cover the second she did. At the same time she pulled a flashbang off her harness and tossed it into the main thoroughfare. In an open space like this its effects were bound to be reduced but anyone close to the blast point should still be stunned or at least hindered for a moment. Far more important conflicts had been ended in far less time than that. The moment the flashbang went off Retsu would leap out of cover, ready to take on anything within sight.
