When she's not out drinking or having fun she's usually found within her workshop tinkering with one thing or the other. In general there are only two things that get Retsu to be quiet. The first is when she's crafting explosives, the sole activity on which she can stay focused for hours at a time. The second is when she's incredibly angry. While usually boisterous and quick to fire back there's a point where when she's pushed too far her anger turns cold. When Retsu gets to the point of cold anger being in her vicinity can be incredibly dangerous. For while it is rare that she gets to this point she'll aim to remove the cause of her anger with extreme prejudice.
For the most part however Retsu does not take things seriously. She maintains a 'live and let live' philosophy for anything that doesn't concern her. When something -or someone- gets in her way she rarely considers them however, simply heading past or around the obstacle in whatever way is the quickest, whether this method is moral or not. Due to her love for explosive and 'when all you have a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail' her problem solving skills are not the most developed.
Living in a world where money is what matters and trust is in short supply Retsu maintains a wide variety of surface level relations but has never formed any form of meaningful connection with anyone. Her understanding of the importance of networking and reliability due to her profession makes her a steadfast ally so long as both sides benefit from it but a very uncaring bystander the moment those benefits run out.

Retsu has waist length dark purple hair and light purple eyes. Standing at a bit over five foot four she's roughly average sized for her age. She has a relatively lean and slightly muscular build to exercise mixed with poor dietary habits. She usually defaults to wearing a tank top or sleeveless shirt and loose fitting drab colored pants with lots of pockets. Over her left eye she wears an eye patch of her own design. Whether this is a practical choice or an aesthetical one is unknown. There is a wide variety of rumors as to why she wears it ranging from damage to her eye, the intent to 'look cool', a backup plan in case she gets caught up in one of her own flash bangs or even that she inherited it from her grandfather. No one's managed to get a straight answer out of her and given that it appears to be a sore subject to her few keep insisting of finding out.
She tends to keep a combat knife on her person, hidden when in public and displayed more openly when traversing dangerous areas.
[div][attr="class","body"][div][attr="class","header2"]HISTORY[/div] Born quirkless to a poor family Retsu never had a bright future laid out before her. Answering mockery with punches she couldn't stand the 'little pricks' using their quirks 'by accident' while being beaten down. It was during one such incident she took a blast of light to her left eye leaving it damaged and painful to look through. The constant pain when not using an eyepatch only caused her anger to burn further and before long she fell in with the wrong crowd. By the time she was twelve she already had a reputation as a hot-headed lunatic with the local gangs.
The sole reason she was allowed to stick around was that she had a knack for fixing things: broken tools, electronics or situations alike. Her true love however laid in explosives. Fixing electronics through trial and error had more than once caused them to explode and Retsu delighted greatly in figuring out how to maximize the effect. Much like her passion so too did her temper grow more and more explosive. The more she dealt with petty gangsters and thugs the more she became consumed by the violent nature of her profession. Seeing similar power structures all around executed at both large and small scales she grew to strongly dislike all forms of authority other than her own, viewing them as little more than threats of violence or harm to keep her cowed and in line. With examples all around it she slowly became better and better at using her own skills to get her way.
It was only after a fight gone wrong when she was fourteen years old that she realized just how good at it she'd become. Having been left for dead in a ditch it'd taken her hours to crawl out and reach a hideout where she'd spend days recovering before daring to leave. When she finally got home her parents had welcomed her back as if she'd just been out for a walk, not even looking away from their work as they did. They were simply too afraid of her to ask where she'd been or risk looking her in the eye. That was the second last time she'd set foot in her family home. The final time was when she'd just turned sixteen and managed to scrounge up enough money to buy her own workshop, slipping in during the night just to get her birth certificate and other papers in case she'd ever need them before leaving once more without her parents ever knowing she was there.
Over time part of the local gangs came to rely on her supply and connections. Using this to great effect Retsu took to solidifying her position and eliminating the gangs that stood against her until by the age of 19 she’d established a vast network of customers, prospective allies and collaborators. Operating out of her workshop turned repair shop that she'd named 'Wired' her reach is widening by the day and she is taking ever greater risks to keep the momentum going.
On the surface her repair shop is exactly that: a store that repairs, fixes or otherwise modifies appliances, vehicles, tools or other miscellaneous items. While she certainly does do such work it is little more than a front for what really goes on in 'Wired'. For Retsu is a fixer in more ways than one. Supplying people with the weapons they need, using her network of contacts to ensure the right people are in the right places or even taking to the field herself are all things within the realm of possibilities. For the right price, of course.

"Fair enuff," Retsu shrugged. If she suspected a trap then dropping from above where she'd be airborne and immobile with a predictable trajectory was one of the dumbest things the woman could have done in Retsu's opinion but Olivia's future survivability was none of her business. At least this one seemed to have the sense not to take people at their word. "Is that so?" She replied skeptically. It'd be brazen to lie to her face like that but this was coming from the same person that dropped in from the roof. One Retsu would definitely be charging her extra for if she broke anything on the way in. The deposit on this place hadn't been cheap and the last thing she wanted was for someone to come looking into what was going on inside. "Hmm, E.M.P. grenades ey," Retsu continued with a thoughtful expression. In theory she could make that. She'd finished a functional prototype more than four months ago but been ousted from her workshop before she could finalize the design. Well, she'd finished a rudimentary one ages ago but condensing it into grenade form, ensuring it had optimal efficiency and the right kind of range was far more difficult. Not to mention time-consuming. Testing, altering, retesting, calibrating, adjusting and more was expensive and required specialized testing grounds lest you fry things you shouldn't if you got anything wrong. That was where the problem laid. It'd taken months to get it to work given that she'd treated it as a side project but even with her full focus it'd take days if not weeks to get those same results once more. She didn't have the time for that and the data she'd previously collected had been lost alongside her workshop. It'd been in a safe so it still existed but it'd been stolen from the wreckage and she'd yet to reclaim it. Which was exactly why her eyes narrowed as Olivia kept talking. What a coincidence that their circumstances seemed so similar. Why, they were practically the same. Her left eye stung at the thought. That wasn't quite right, was it? Reaching for her eye patch she put it back on, both to buy herself a moment and to stop the stabbing pain that was beginning to give her a headache. If her suspicions were correct... She had nothing but a flimsy interpretation of the words from some unknown organization and her own gut feeling. Even so her instincts hadn't led her wrong thus far. Cold fire burned inside her. She had to know for sure. In time she would and then they'd all be reduced to ashes in the flames they'd roused. "Y'r in luck. Ah'm prolly one a' the few people in the whole city that ken make 'em," Retsu explained. Even without her continuing it was very clear there was a 'but' attached to the statement. "Ah dun' 'ave the materials on hand ta put 'em together but ah know where ta find 'em. Unfortunately ah dun' think the fookers that have 'em will wanna hand 'em over ta us but hey," Retsu shrugged, "a dud's somethin' that doesn't do what other others wanted from it. Up fer a lil smash 'nd grab?"

As time moved on traditions once upheld were slowly being lost. Some slower than others. In fact, a few of them needed a bit of help to be forgotten. The Hayashida-gumi had a long history dating back nearly a century and a half filled with success stories followed by far less successful stories and finally stories of them just barely hanging on. That was where the problem laid. Though their fame was long lost and their power but a shadow of what it once was they'd always just barely managed to stop their fade into irrelevance through opportunism and claiming whichever scraps the bigger fish had dropped. The issue with that was that Bakuretsu could now be considered one of those bigger fish. Her takedown of the Akimichi family should have given her near complete control of their operations yet transfers of power took time to complete in full and before her conquest was complete tragedy had struck. The commotion at the bay had led every other hero and their grandma over the course of the past few months and made it a fools errand to show up in person. For all that Bakuretsu had personal power subtlety wasn't her thing and the longer she was away the more her influence dropped. Something the Hayashida-gumi had been more that willing to make us of, their sly ways letting them expand right under the noses of the law. Retsu had enough of them. Their downfall was long overdue and with the activity down by the beach finally dying down it was time to make them realize that too. The hard way. "Roite then," Bakuretsu said while putting on her earpiece. "Ah'll be waitin' fer y'r signal. Remember, we only need their boss alive. Rest a' 'em are done fer one way or another, nah need ta 'old back so long as the job gets done. Remember. Ah need ta have a chat with Hayashida Terumi 'fore he kicks the bucket. Make sure 'e doesn't get away."She was sitting in the back of a van a street away from the Hayashida-gumi's headquarters in preparation of their attack. Located near the very border of the Ota prefecture close to the Tama river the compound had a rather large footprint, its traditional make causing it to have been built outwards instead of upwards. Within a rectangular outer wall sat a large courtyard with a pond that had several bridges and islands across it. Several buildings connected with roofed corridors in the traditional Japanese style that had already been outdated a century ago made up the rest of their base. A small army could fit inside and with the meeting of their leadership being ongoing it could be said that there was in fact one inside as more than fifty of their subordinates were spread throughout the buildings and courtyard alike. Some patrolling, others chatting by the waterside and yet more awaiting the catering or showing personnel to their places. With people sourced from several branches of their organization present there were a fair few that didn't recognize each other. To Retsu's exasperation they'd also made use of the downfall of the Akimichi to recruit adding several new faces to their group. It would certainly make infiltration easier for Forevermore but it still annoyed her. Those could have been her subordinates had it not been for the sudden mutated sea life attacks. It was amazing what interesting new ways the world always seemed to find to get in her way but she digressed, there was work to be done. Checking over the equipment she'd brought she offered a final nod to Forevermore before she refocused on the preparations for her part of the mission. "We're all set. Go whenever y'r rdy."

"Dey won't get the chance," Retsu replied offhandedly. Her focus was already on her plan of action, not her words. She started moving before her charges even blew, the dull thumps of the explosions in sync with her shoulder bashing the newly formed entrance open entirely. A grenade was in her hand without conscious thought, the pin left on a hook on her harness as she took her first step inside. Before her second step landed the grenade was already sailing through an open doorway to the side. It was one of her newer fragmentation grenades, the kind she'd made after Dream World. It had her full expertise behind it, no expenses spared on materials and a single unifying goal in its construction. Maximizing its destructive output. Combined with the surprise Retsu was confident it'd be enough to clear out whichever unlucky chumps were in there. She'd circle back later to check. Getting caught up on doing so now would waste their surprise factor. Maintaining momentum was crucial. The moment they managed to get their bearings taking down all thirty of the poor sods with just the two of them was bound to get harder. They'd still manage of course, of that she had no doubt, but she'd rather not have to go in for healing again. Several more steps carried her to and through another doorway. Her hands reached for her equipment as she did, ready to take who or whatever may lay within.

"Ah'll 'ave it sent y'r way," Retsu agreed with a shallow nod. Her second-in-command should have all the necessary documentation at hand. Both on their boss and everyone else inside, barring any surprises like what happened when she went after the Akimichi family. She almost scowled. Yeah, Retsu would rather not have a repeat of that happening again. Which is exactly why she wasn't going to be taking point this time. Tossing money at the problem would make it far less likely that she'd be the one incurring the danger. "Works fer me," she responded with a shrug, a statement that answered both Yoshiie's question and her own thoughts. It wasn't like she was short on money anyway, not even with the hefty expenses improving her arsenal required. She met his gaze as he continued. "Benefactors? Ah thought ya didn'a underestimate anyone," Retsu fired with a dangerous look in her eye. "Careful ya dun' run inta a different kind a' trouble makin' assumptions."Turning on her heel she waved over her shoulder as she walked away. Perhaps half a year ago that assumption of his would have made her fly off the handle but she'd changed by now. Something like this couldn't faze her. Retsu had learned much and done even more. Robberies by the dozen with casualty numbers in the hundreds, fights with Pro Heroes and more that left her standing tall and them six feet under, raids that had enriched her beyond belief and victories that had carried her ever closer to her goal. She'd even taken over a fairly significant part of Tokyo's arms trade. Hells, if she had her way all of Tokyo would be hers in time. No, something like that wouldn't get under her skin anymore. Truly. "Mah second'll be in touch. Y'all can talk prices. Ah'll see ya in a week. 'r naht. Y'r call."

The hair on the back of Retsu's neck had raised long before Olivia had spoke up, her senses letting her know something was wrong even if she couldn't quite place what. Experience had taught her to trust instincts like that and Retsu wasn't about to start ignoring them now. Putting the part she was working on down she picked up another, slotting it neatly into a different project to finish an impromptu grenade. Impromptu because it didn't quite have the safeties built in nor the pin. A good hit would be enough to set this experimental concussive grenade off, something as detrimental as it could be beneficial. Retsu was confident she'd be faster than whatever sneak had gotten into her workshop. She kept the safety hazard close at hand -quite literally- when Olivia dropped down and began speaking. "Is that so?" Retsu asked rhethorically while narrowing her eyes at the intruder. She highly doubted Elias would've instructed her to drop in from above, much less without calling ahead. Not unless he wanted her dead. Retsu only narrowly stopped herself from clicking her tongue. If he was foisting his dirty work off on her for plausible deniability without any pay they'd be having words. "Well, y'r better at foindin' the roite person than ya were at foindin' the door. Who the fook are ya and what d'ya want?"

As far as her motorcycle getting destroyed went this incident didn't quite make it into the top three but that was hardly any consolation to Retsu. Unfortunately the consolation prize she did get was a meet and greet with the asphalt, handshake not included. She'd give the service a solid three out of ten, narrowly beating out the bar she'd just left on account of the street having less holes in it. "Motherfu-" Retsu exclaimed as the bike's wheel landed on her left leg. It made her regret leaping away from the civilians instead of towards them. With a quick move she was sure she could've pulled one of them towards her to serve as a shield. Oh well. At least her experience with explosives had allowed her to remain mostly unscathed by the blast. Mostly. The adrenaline would let her ignore the rest until she had time to patch her wounds. To some extent. There were more important things to worry about. This was an insult that could not stand. To use her own tools against her? She'd be a laughing stock if she let that go unanswered. No, Retsu wouldn't be leaving until he got what he deserved. Going back in through the front door would be a dumb move -if not straight up suicide- but she'd been to this bar enough to know there was a side door. As she was about to step into the alley the sound of said door opening gave away that she hadn't been the only one to figure that little factoid out. "Motherfu-" She repeated eloquently, this time under her breath as she pressed her back against the wall just before crossing the corner. Then a manic grin formed on her face. Even if she stepped out of cover he wouldn't be able to shoot for fear of his bullet flying off into the street and hitting a civilian, not unless she'd misjudged his morality or he had a sudden change of mind. Retsu herself didn't share that restriction. Gleefully she kept her pistol at the ready while her other hand pulled out a flashbang. With her teeth she yanked the pin out -using her mouth in a far more useful manner than her opponent's intimidation attempt- before throwing it down the alley. If he chose to rush forward she'd open fire on him the second he'd cross the corner, if he fled back into the building he'd have given ground and if he took cover she'd simply lay down a burst of suppressive fire to keep him in place while throwing a far more lethal grenade his way. It was a plan that couldn't possibly go wrong.

"Fookin' quirkers," Retsu grumbled under her breath as she pressed the button to call an elevator just a bit harder than was needed. Waiting for it to arrive she pressed another button inside to send it to the ground floor and stepped back out before the doors could close. Taking the elevator when one was in a position like hers was quite frankly the dumbest possible move she could make. An enclosed space with a single exit and a neat sign on the outside tracking its progress. Using it to go down may as well be suicide if anyone's laying in wait. No, Retsu simply used it as a distraction while taking the stairs. With any potential enemies focused on it she'd have a smooth trip to her destination, one that would be decidedly less final than the alternative. "Ah'll pass," she replied in an even tone through the comms. The elevator had just been demoted -or perhaps promoted- to the second dumbest possible move, wedged firmly in between a trust fall with a villain and putting foreign technology like an earpiece anywhere near her head. No, the one Retsu was using was her own self made design that had been linked to their comms. Retsu was intimately familiar with how small the container for explosives -or hells, poisons or neural agents- could be and wasn't gonna risk putting whatever Elias and co provided anywhere near her head. Catching part of the conversation as she and Elias approached the targets Retsu refrained from commenting. It certainly explained why he wanted the group gone but it was none of her business. If he wanted the rat back alive it would be but clearly collateral wasn't gonna be a concern. She supposed she shouldn't be surprised, after all, why else would she be the one they hired? Where Bakuretsu passed naught but ash remained. The corner of her lip curled up for the briefest moment before she pushed it back down as twin cracks announced their opening move. The cracks were far quieter than the opening shots she was used to yet the air that escaped their sources was far heavier than the expulsion of gasses from her guns. It wouldn't stay that silent for long. Setting a claymore down by the door Retsu took out a pack of breaching strips and made a neat little rectangle on the wall to secure them a way in. The timer was set for ten seconds as she stepped back and turned to Elias. "How many ways in 'r out does dis place 'ave?"

As of late there was a stillness to Retsu that hadn't been there before. On the surface it seemed to make her less volatile but nothing could be further from the truth. Hers was the stillness of storm clouds gathering overhead. One that you did not need to see to feel its presence, for the way it robbed the color of all it passed over was more than enough to tell it was there. It was the kind of stillness that was a warning. A warning that at any moment all hell could break loose. The kind that people throughout the ages had observed as a sign to run for cover until it was over. "Got it." Her reply arrived like the first drop of rain falling from darkening clouds. A final reminder of what was about to happen and a sign that it was already too late to hide from the coming storm. Unlike the last time they'd been about to commence an operation Bakuretsu did not bother to check her gear. She knew exactly what she had. With a twitch of her left wrist she could have the tips of her fingers graze over the course hilt of Temper. With every inhale Retsu was keenly aware of the presence of her pistol holster by her side. The grenades she carried on her harness had enough weight to raise her center of gravity the slightest bit, enough that she needed to adjust her stride for it. So too was she fully aware of what she didn't have. Her rifle had been cut from her arsenal this time around. It limited her range, sure, but that just forced her to get closer to the enemy. The proximity would make it that much less likely that she'd leave anything whole. There would be no survivors. Not when the deluge known as Bakiri Retsu fell upon them. Turning on her heel she marched towards their goal without another look back at the warehouse. She'd looked over the edge and seen what laid there. There was no point in dwelling on it. What truly mattered laid inside anyway. It was impossible to see any of that by looking down upon them from on high. Elias didn't seem like he wanted to elaborate either. She'd have to find out the hard way. A fascimile of a smirk crept its way up her lips. That approach suited her just fine. "Let's go. Shit ain't gonna break itself."

"Yup," Retsu confirmed with a nod. Breathing in the scent of tobacco made her crave a Sazerac, the scent reminding her of one of the many underground bars she often hung out at. The ones where smoke enough to visible and health inspectors only passed through once a year to receive their bribes. "Of course," she continued as if it were obvious. The kind of person that would volunteer to wipe out an entire organization without pay wasn't the kind she trusted to keep one specific person alive. No, this job needed the touch of a professional. "Four days from now dere'll be a meeting between the kumicho, waka gashira and several other executives. Ah've got a map of the place it'll be at an' a list a' the people that'll likely be dere. The moment we're agreed on the details ah'll send 'em your way," Retsu explained while idly looking around. She didn't expect to be ambushed here but the whole point of an ambush was that it came unexpectedly. Trusting quiet moments like this wasn't something she did. "On that note, d'ya charge per person or a lump sum fer the job?"

Retsu wasn’t sure how to reply to Aika Ao’s words. The whole message was foreign to her and so was the unsettling feeling that came with it. As the tokens began to float in front of her she settled upon a nod and a hum, making no eye contact as her gaze was upon the horizon, eyes glossing over. For one rare minute, a minute she’d been keeping an eye out for this entire time in case it'd be the one where Aika Ao pulled off whatever he was planning, Retsu lowered her guard without her even realizing it as she lost herself deep in thought. A place where they could have fun. Was that what was different about her then? Here she was able to have fun just like others did? She didn’t like the thought of what that said about her. If that felt this different, this off compared to what she was used to, what could that mean? The thought weighed heavy on her. As if she were withdrawing her hand from a fire before it could get burned she turned her train of thought towards the three trials she'd completed. The first trial she was no stranger to. When it came down to it the only person she could count on was herself. It had always been that way and would always be that way. Several familiar faces flashed through her mind, lingering for just a second before she pushed them away. With a shake of her head she refocused on what mattered. Making sure she caught on to whichever way Aika Ao was about to try to screw them over. Her caution was only halfhearted, the majority of her attention still lingering on the past. That she'd breezed through the second trial was no surprise either. Retsu had never let anyone else’s opinion decide her actions. She always blazed her own trail forward in whichever way would get her the best result, their judgement be damned. Good enough? No. She was better. Better than what all of them thought of her and soon enough she’d show them. She'd show them all. A snort left her at the thought of the third trial. Trust others? What a riot. She didn’t trust anyone here further than she could throw them. The only thing you could trust in was that everyone was gonna be a self-serving sack of shit. It was exactly why she'd made all of those threats. Either they did what would benefit her because it would benefit them too or they’d do it because the only alternative they could get was a bullet through the head. Nothing more, nothing less. Growing up in the lawless backstreets of Tokyo she’d seen exactly what happened to fools who trusted without being able to verify. Hells. She’d buried several herself. Retsu didn’t need their help. She’d be fine by herself no matter what the world might throw her way. They’d all see that in time. Even so Aika Ao’s smarmy speech agitated something deep inside her chest. If she didn’t know better she’d almost believe he was genuine. For some reason she was even having a hard time convincing herself he wasn’t. That couldn’t be right. Something felt wrong. Retsu did not know what it was and she’d been ignoring it this whole time but the closer she got to leaving the more she felt it. There was almost a reluctance to leave this place, ridiculous as the thought was. Retsu's fists clenched. That had to be related to his quirk. She couldn't imagine -refused to imagine- that it could come from herself. There was no way that was true. Absolutely no way. Their bodies and powers had been changed so he likely had a way to affect their minds too. The thought angered her so much another plume of fire left her eye and ignited her hair while she reached for her weapons. A snap ended her efforts before they could begin. She awoke the same way she'd just fallen asleep. Her eyelids snapped open and she shot upright startling every waking person around her. With adrenaline coursing through her veins she took in the scene in an instant. Somehow the chaos combined with the fact that she wasn't wearing her eyepatch and had longer hair had caused her to go unrecognized amongst the mass of unconscious civilians. She couldn't count on that lasting for long. Ignoring the surprised exclamations and caretakers swarming to one of the few people that had woken up by themselves since the Unity Festival had ended she grabbed her stuff and left, her burning hair flaring up in warning to any who'd dare interrupt her. Half-formed thoughts and ideas she didn't even want to consider risked burning a hole through her head long before the quirk she somehow still possessed even outside of the Dream could. She pushed them away with action. There was much to do and she had no idea how long she'd been out. Time worked differently in dreams, for all she knew she could've laid here for hours, days or even weeks. It didn't matter. So long as she kept moving she didn't have to focus on thinking. So, as always, Retsu kept going without looking back. There was no other option. Not for her.
TL;DR: -Peace out, suckers! o/ Tags: Aysu, Arataki Noa, Jack Orion

"Suit y'rself." Retsu shrugged. It was no skin off her back regardless of whether he won or lost. She hummed and nodded along as he kept speaking, slowly walking closer as she did. Not that they had to speak quietly of course. Even if anyone heard no one would dare interrupt the two of them. Down here in Shinjuku there was no way someone hanging out in an arcade at this time wouldn't know of at least one of them and more importantly their reputations. Still, she'd rather not have him go for his gun again. Leaning against the claw machine next to the one he was using she crossed her arms and began to explain. "Ever heard of the Hayashida-gumi?" She asked, continuing regardless of whether he had or not. "Old Yakuza family that never figured out dey were goin' outta style. Somehow dey've been hanging on till now. Ah rekken it's tahm ta correct that." Concluding her short explanation she followed him outside, pulling out her combustible knife and offering it as a lighter for his cigarette, a brief activation more than enough to light it should he choose to make use of it. "So, 'ere's the gist. Ah need ta 'ave a talk with their kumicho. He's got some intel ah need. Dun' need any a' the others alive," she continued after a brief break. "Ya up fer a job lahk that?"
