Defeated, Not Deterred
Michael breathed heavily in exertion as he smiled behind his bright red balloon head. “Thank you for spending the time. I learned a lot from our bout. Hopefully next time I can bring more of a challenge to you.” Michael said humbly as he said his goodbyes. He headed off returning to his dorm to get some much needed rest after struggling so hard against Emi’s powerful quirk. He would need to grow much stronger if he was going to stand a chance against her in the future. He was excited to see if he’d gain any progress the next time they sparred.

Ready and Bloated
Michael ran along his designated floor. He would knock loudly before breaking the door in with an inflated punch right near the handle. “I’m sorry for the intrusion but we need to go now!” He would shout upon entry. Even in an emergency, he couldn’t help but try to be courteous. He moved quickly to try to clear open paths for people to get out of their apartments as quickly and smoothly as possible. “My name is Samaritan! We’re here to rescue you!”
Michael couldn’t really afford to do much more at the moment than clear paths for people to help themselves through as he needed to get in place for Oniki to start tossing down people from her floor. Once that floor was cleared she’d be able to move down to this one and begin evacuation. “Get all people and pets into the hall and line up near the window. My partner will be down shortly to assist all of you out. Things can be replaced, lives can’t!” He was shout out over and again so that no one would attempt to be trying to salvage any of their belongings.
Michael knew he couldn’t take many down with him when he would jump out to get in position. Michael picked out a group of older people and younger children that might not be able to make the drop as easily as the others. “Now everyone remain calm! I’m going to take a first group down with and when my partner arrives they will send down the rest of you. You will need to be brave when you exit the window but I WILL catch you, I promise! You can trust my partner, she’s going to take good care of you, but you need to tell her if any of you need special help or if you know of anyone that is struggling to get out!” Michael scooped up his group, wrapping his arms gently around them, coiling them a few times to assure they were bound safely. He then moved them toward the opening.
“Alright everyone! Here we go!” Michael said cheerfully to keep them calm as he leapt from the window. He immediately inflated himself, filling his body to spread with helium gas as he floated them down to the ground slowly. Once they touched down, Michael released them and told them to stand as far back from the building as possible and to guide others to them when they were rescued.
Michael moved a bit closer back towards the building and lined himself up with the upper windows. He lied down and instantly blew himself up. He went all out to not only inflating himself more than he ever had but he also was stretching out his skin so that he was more akin to an airbag than a balloon. He needed to be able to have people land safely on him and not bounce off. He waved his arms as much as possible to signal up Oniki he was ready. He waved continuously until the first evacuee dropped. He was set that after they were caught and cleared, he would then wave again to signal the next.
Notes & Tags: Yanai Yoko TLDR: Michael opened all of the apartments and cleared paths for people to evacuate towards the window to wait for Oniki. When she got them out she could assure the floor was clear before they moved on. Michael took a handful of older, younger and weaker people and floated them down before inflating himself into a big crash mat for Oniki to drop the other evacuees.

Be Our Guests
Michael took a deep breath in and then out as he looked at himself in the mirror. Standing in the dressing room, he looked himself over to make the final adjustments needed. He straightened his tie, only to feel rather constricted in his fine European suit. The black tuxedo felt rather blocky on his (for lack of a better word) inflated body. He deflated himself slightly, letting air out to give a more slender but toned appearance. However, as Michael looked at himself in the mirror this didn’t really help with the fit of his suit. Making an executive decision to seek function more than style, Michael took off and hung up the coat of his tuxedo, unlinked the cuffs, loosened the tie and rolled the sleeves up his forearms. With his thick muscular form the choice gave a very casual take on the elegant butler, but it fit his personality much better and was arguably more appealing. Michael was unaware the number of eyes that beset him as he made his way out of the dressing room and onto the festival cafe floor.
His class had decided to run a Maid/Bulter cafe open to any UAU student or faculty member to participate in. While the main purchases through the cafe would be donated back to the school, tips were another matter. Tips were to be kept by who had earned them, incentivizing volunteers to really give it their all and work as much as they were available. Michael however was already managing a large plate. Agreeing to not only help out with this vendor booth but a few others, all the while seeking to participate in many of the Sport Festival competitions. Still he was thrilled to be of as much assistance as he could muster and this cafe was already proving to be a popular concept. Michael wasn’t sure if he would be of much appeal for the cafe, but he was strong, friendly and agile. He would put his all into the job to help out his class and his university to throw the best event possible.
The wait staff this early in the day was not at full capacity, so Michael went out as a headliner butler for the time being. He didn’t seem to realize that he and the other servers were already drawing in a decently large crowd. Aside from his largely proportioned body in enticingly casual servant’s fashion, his demeanor was even more appealing. His kind and attentive nature and mysterious aura due to his lack of a visible face actually lured several guests to his section. Michael was so happy to see all the satisfied and eager customers he was completely oblivious to the blushes and flirting of his patrons.
Attending to his newest table, Michael gave a gentle bow to the guests present. “Welcome to the UAU Sports Festival Maid and Butler Cafe, where our heroes only mission is to serve. My name is Michael, how may I be of service, masters and mistresses?”
Notes & Tags: TLDR: The Maid/Butler cafe is open to any UAU student or faculty to participate in as a volunteer. You get to keep your tips. You may also just attend the cafe and receive service from any of the willing and available PC servers or NPC server of your choice. Don’t make anyone uncomfortable or you will be thrown out.

Slowed by Politeness
Michael made his way through the festival. It was everything he imagined from the event and it was only just beginning. Rows upon rows of standings selling foods, novelties, souvenirs, experiences. Some were games and activities. Attractions and performances. And reaching for the larger buildings and designated areas were the Sports Festival competitions. Michael was thrilled to enter and compete in as many as he could. This was not only a great opportunity to really test their meddle in a variety of challenges, but this was a chance to showcase themselves and their talents for the world to see. For many of them with would be their introduction to the hero world, a possibility to be cherry-picked by agencies and revealed to the general public as a rising star.
Michael didn’t so much care for the glory and recognition as he wanted to really have fun and push himself to new and creative heights. He was not looking forward to some of the more aggressive competitions but he actually had a few friends that were already wanting to act as a team in events like the fighting tournaments. So he would take on even those challenges with a grain of salt, using it as an opportunity to defuse combat through minimal threat/damage contact. The other competitions sounded fun, some even were suppose to have balloons being used! He hadn’t looked much into what exactly was happening in them, but they had balloons! It was a no brainer for him to enter, right?
Aside from the competitions, Michael had agreed to assist a few of the vendor booths throughout the festival. Whether it was the Maid/Butler Cafe his class had organized or a few of the game booths that his friends were running, Michael was more than happy to help out any way he could. This did put a damper on free time, so he would need to move between festival activities and events rather quickly… the biggest issue with that was Michael’s overly polite nature.
Michael was kind of physically large and from all his training at UAU he had actually grown a deal more muscular and beefy in size. As polite as he was, this made transversing through crowds difficult. He didn’t want to be rude or intrusive, so he would gingerly weave himself around the throngs of people rather slowly as he did his best to not disturb anyone's personal space. A number of his friends did not like physical contact at least spontaneously, so to be as courteous as possible, Michael inconvenienced himself to make his way through the crowds to assure comfort. He would apologize despite not bumping into anyone as he would squeeze past others, but he also didn’t raise his voice so not to startle anyone. Even with the nearly doubled amount of time to get anyways, Michael was beaming with excitement and joy from the festival and all the people having a good time!
Notes & Tags: Yunagi Katahara TLDR: Michael makes his ways through the festival as non-intrusively as possible while he checks out all the booths, events and happy people.

Under Pressure
They were running out of time. Scylla was getting more desperate and aggressive by the moment and if they didn’t try to stop her now, someone was likely to get hurt. They had overwhelmed Scylla with enough force to make lash out chaotically, so it would only get worse from here if it continued any longer. With how ruthless some of his teammates seemed it was likely that they would go hard on the pseudo-villain… if Michael could capture her perhaps they would hold back as any additional force would be unwarranted. It was the only chance Michael felt was available. Unfortunately, his plan was reckless in its own way, but if he succeeded no one else needed to get hurt… except him maybe.
Michael had been working on something over the last few weeks after a class about Ultimate Moves. That class had actually been the inspiration for his Ricochet attacks, but those felt too aggressive as it used his body as a bouncing weapon using physics and geometry to strike at opponents. Michael had thought of different ways he could use his body in a creative and powerful way that didn’t require him to intrinsically harm others. So he developed a new technique. In truth it was no where near ready for actual use, but desperate times…
Michael’s Ricochet Croquet had him bounce off and away from her after body checking into her legs. The distance it put between them proved to be helpful as she spread out her tendrils in nearly every direction but Michael was far enough back that he could have the time he needed for his Proto-Ultimate Move. The only thing now he needed was some faith. Knowing a speech would likely be counterproductive in this moment, he called out into the headset. “I have an idea that might be able to end this, but I need a little time. PLEASE, I just need you to try your best to not hurt her more than needed for like 30 seconds. Do what you have to, just don’t go too far and the moment you see me, freeze me, bind me, tie me down.”
With his plea made, all Michael could do was hope for the best as he couched into a sprinter’s pose. He was still working on the pumping system, so he’d need to do this more manually. He began to do mountain climbers from the planked position, physically pumping his legs and body. He was building up pressure and tension through his would body with every pump. He could feel his skin feel like it was getting tighter by the second and he force all that air and energy to be compressed into his body. His skin began to turn into a dark almost bruising red as it struggled to hold together under the increasing tension. Steam began billowing out of his pores as the energy heated within him as the pressure and energy built. Mean while Michael aimed himself, he hadn’t had much time to work on the build up much less what he would do with it, so he was pretty sure he only had one shot with this. At best he would pull it off but be unable to move for the rest of the scenario, maybe even a week; at worse… well he didn’t want to think of that. The steam began whistling as it had started to stretch his pore to try releasing some of that pressure, but Michael forced himself to hold it together just a little longer. Just as Michael felt he couldn’t take one more pound of pressure, he finally released the tension.
Michael hoped that whatever his teammates did was enough to not harm Scylla or themselves too greatly, hoping they had given him a chance to pull of a risk that he would need their help to really pull off in the end.
A loud pop rang out Michael launched like a bullet straight towards Scylla’s exposed mass. Time felt hazy as Michael reached speeds he never experienced before, but he couldn’t lose consciousness or focus yet. Jettisoning himself at her was only phase one, but with how much faster he went than he expected he actually moved to the next step sooner to compensate. Michael had held all that gas and tension together in his body, keeping him in his natural shape to condense that pressure; now as he closed in on Scylla, he let himself expand. Bursting out like the air bag of a crashing car he would spread and pillow over Scylla, catching her like a baseball in a mitt. It was likely that whatever attacks Scylla and even his teammates did were now being pummeled on to him. Whatever the pain he endured, Michael could only hope that his teammates would understand what he was doing and assist with the capture.
Engulfing Scylla into his ballooned body like a crash mat for a stuntman, Michael essentially would have her squished into him. Now if his teammate could freeze him to make his rubbery body contract around her or find ways to bind him down, Michael could hold Scylla and keep her trapped in his fluffy folds. With how much pain and exertion he went through to get this far, any assistance his team could give to keep him wrapped around her might be enough to assure her capture and subsequent defeat.
Notes & Tags: Yanai Hebiru | Elijah | Ylva Riis | Jouma Joukou TLDR: Michael attempted a move that he hadn’t perfected yet in order to launch himself like a bullet by compressing a bunch of air and tension on his body and then released it all at once to crash into Scylla like a giant air bag and then hoped his team would be able to freeze him to make his body contract or find some way to bind him in order to hold Scylla in his pillowy body.

Sprinting into Action
Michael slowly shifted himself with slow deliberate steps. He wasn’t pleased that this felt more self serving than accurate. Criminals and villains were people too, to expect the worst only inspired the worst from people. Why would anyone surrender or repent if they thought the hero extending the branch of peace did so superficially. It could escalate things further but that’s because they felt cornered and deceived, that there was no other way out. If Mai wanted to play the irredeemable, that would not make Michael waiver. If Mai wanted to dampen his quirk to force a reaction she believed was the only choice, then Michael would oppose her. Michael would not give up just because he was weaker, he wouldn’t give in just because his way seemed naive. The world needed uncompromising heroes to save the villains from themselves too. “You’re wrong…” Michael said as a puff of steam surrounded his head.
“I know you’re angry and scared but…” Michael’s head made it so his eyes couldn’t be tracked. Which helped as he made slow steps. His movements were focused and deceptive in their simplicity. If Mai wouldn’t compromise and believe in the humanity of villainously driven, he’d need to act as cleverly as he did compassionately. He could focus of defusing the portrayed resentment after he dealt with that bomb. “I can’t let you harm anyone else. You want to take this pain out on someone, aim it at me. I can take whatever you throw at me.” Michael had to bluff only a little, he mainly needed to have her focus on him in an aggressive light. He had to antagonize her a little as he was ready to guide that aggression towards the goal he needed. Every step he took was building a tension in his ankles, then to his calves and up his thighs. They were small stretches but with his rubbery body being contracted from the cold, it made even the smallest stretches build greater potential energy. He was compressing onto himself, like a spring being forced tighter and tighter into itself. “You may be willing to kill for your beliefs, but I’m willing to die for you to have the chance to live.”
If she attacked before he could line himself up, then he’d need to be proactive and bound away, building the tension up with longer strides, circling her and hopefully luring her attention and power with him. If he was lucky he could keep ahead of it long enough to draw it towards his target. Regardless of if she struck first or if he got into position first, his following motion released all of that built tension, launching himself as his legs finally decompressed and jettisoned his whole body towards the bomb. He needed to be fast and precise because the moment he impacted the bomb he’d need to cover the hostage. Getting past Mai to the bomb was only the bait. As he would start trying to expand his body against the bindings that held the hostage to either break or spread enough to free them or at least move them enough out of the line of figurative fire. He was counting on Mai to attack. He wanted to use that ice power to attempt to freeze over the bomb.
Notes & Tags: Shirayuki Mai TLDR: Michael attempted to use Mai’s portrayal of an unrepentant and dangerous villain to his benefit. While building up tension by making nearly imperceptible stretches of his legs that were already contracting from the cold temperatures, he would move himself into place to be lined up with the bomb. If forced to go quickly if Mai attacked sooner than later or if he managed to move there slowly and cautiously, Michael would then release that potential energy to spring himself towards the bomb. While he would try to expand himself against the bindings holding the hostage, he would be paying attention hoping to cause Mai to attempt to blast him with her ice, so that it may freeze the bomb by getting the hostage clear or shifting them out of the line of ‘fire’.

Chilling Choice
This was quite the escalation for what Michael was expecting for this. He had known that it would prove to be difficult as these were agency pro heroes seeking to give him some supplementary education. However were this just a matter of physical prowess or mental equity Michael would likely be more in control of the situation. But Shirayuki had seem to pinpoint a struggling 'weakness' of Michael's and was now putting him to the test.
Michael had always had bigger ideals than his capabilities. He had pushed himself for years to make his seemingly unsuited quirk work towards his goals to become a hero. However, to many outside observes all the training and potential didn't mean much without the drive to do whatever it took to save the day. Michael understood this, or at least he thought he had... but he had always been under the belief that if he was strong and capable enough that he wouldn't have to cause harm just to prevent harm. The more he honed his skills and his body, the firmer he held the belief. To cause someone pain, when you have all the means and abilities to accomplish your goal without any harm seemed unnecessary and cruel. Though since actually joining UAU, he had had to stand up for those beliefs that he would assume everyone, if not at least the majority, would also seek to uphold. His classmates and even some of his teachers showed a more brutal look towards heroics. And for most it would make sense to see it that way, that it was easier and safer to just quell the problem before it got worse. But still, Michael used this as a motivator to get even stronger so he wouldn't have to take that easy choice.
Right now was a moment that really tested him. Yuki Onna was quite well known, even just as a martial arts instructor at UAU. Power in technique and quirk, and to make matters worse for him, she was remarkably suited to neutralize Michael's quirk. Steam wisped off of Michael's balloon head lazily as the warmth of his breath was being overwhelmed by Mai's cold quirk. His body was lightly deflating against his will as the gas that he manipulated within himself began to compress due to the low temperatures. Where he usually used his body chemistry to his favor, it was failing him now. He could feel a faint brittleness to his joints and skin as the rubbery texture of his body also contracted from the cold. Two of the major aspects of his quirk were being dampened significantly by Yuki Onna's very presence.
With his physical options forcibly limited, it made the devious choice she presented all the harder to accept. Clearly the answer expected was for him to defeat the villain as quickly as possible to stop or get rid of the bomb far enough away to minimize the damage. But this directly conflicted with Michael's nature. He hated the idea of having to harm anyone, even a villain. To him, they were victims of circumstance that deserved the right to be saved and chance to make amends. Imagine the good that even a fraction of the most wanted list could do for society if rehabilitated and given the opportunities to live peacefully. Perhaps it was his balloon obscured vision that made it so hard for him to see the world in such black and white, but he refused to believe that someone would choose to do bad and hurtful things if they didn't feel like they had to.
"Ms. Yuki, please. I know this is just a character, but you don't need to harm anyone. Please, you can stop this and I can help you. I promise, I will do whatever I can to get you the help you need." Michael didn't like that in many of these exercises with 'fake' villains, they were portrayed as unredeemable and unrepentant. They had enough characters to desire revenge, motivations, desires. Why couldn't they be reasoned with... But still even assuming this was the same kind of unreachable character, he HAD to try.
With his powers weakened from the cold, there wasn't a lot of strategies he could come up with to just get past her quickly, but he still had an idea... not one he'd prefer to pursue but it was an idea should negotiations failed. "Please... I know the world hasn't been fair to you so you think you can just strike back at it. But there are people like me that DO care about you and want to help you. You just have to take that first step. Stop the bomb and surrender. Please. I don't want anyone to get hurt, and that includes you."
Notes & Tags: Shirayuki Mai TLDR: Michael's quirk is severely dampened by Mai's quirk. He tries to talk her down into surrendering despite knowing that most exercise villains are uncompromising...

Sprung into Action
Michael was disheartened by his new teammate dismissal of his less aggressive approach. Though Jouma was the only one who literally scoffed at the idea, the other two also seemed ready to seek a less than peaceful result. Michael wasn't discouraged by their stances, he understood that there wasn't always a non-confrontational way of dealing with criminals and villains, but Michael refused to let that stop him from trying everything he could. The only real reasons he sought to get stronger was to be able to protect people and deescalate situations; if he was powerful enough, he might be able to stop conflicts before anyone got hurt. So this only motivated him all the more to get to Scylla as quickly as possible before anyone went too far.
As Michael attempted to approach the pseudo-villain, Scylla fought back as he expected with a flurry of six pointed tentacles hurtling towards him. Dr. Hebiru's portrayal gave a twisted gentleness while actively attempting to attack him. Avoiding conflict and injury were specialties of Michael's, both in restraint on others but also in his physical capabilities. His rubbery body made bending and dodging out of the way so fluidly that he often didn't even need to manipulate the circulation of gas within him. However, even with so many of these tendrils moving so precisely from various directions, Michael focused on deflating himself to squeeze around or inflate different parts to stretch past the attacks.
The other members of Team F were making their own advances and they proved to be much more blunt and decidedly dangerous. It was unfortunate they did not cooperate better as the team acted as a group of individuals rather than a cohesive squad. In a not too far off context, these actions could easily be perceived as villainous. It was clear that the character Scylla would be a real threat out in the world... but this felt like overkill. What was the difference between a hero and a villain if the tactics were the same but the targets were different.
With his companions not really working together, Michael needed to take advantage of the attention Scylla had to split between four potential heroes. There wasn't a plan of action or even an agreed degree of force to be used. So if Michael wanted a peaceful resolution, he needed to move in and incapacitate Scylla. With the sharp point at the end of her tendrils, he couldn't just launch himself at her as she might be able to attack while he was unable to dodge. So once he had weaved his way around her attack, he began to bounce himself with each running step. He curled off towards the side as Hebiru's attention was being pulled around by the two other attackers looking to freeze or chop into her.
Michael hadn't seen his other teammate since the battle begun. That was until he heard them call out over the earpiece that was taped to his latex head. Knocking her off balance... it seemed difficult considering how her tendrils seemed to do the figurative and literal heavy lifting, but there was possibility there. Michael continued to build up bounding momentum as he bounced like a rubber ball along the ground. He sprung greater speed until he was he practically boinged off the ground and slammed up against a container. Ricochet Croquet! Throwing himself feet first to impact against the metal box, Michael ricocheted powerfully and rocketed himself towards their target. Michael was coming fast from her side. While he didn't want to directly cause her pain, he decided to trust his teammate had a plan and by doing a little harm, it might prevent something more severe than the other two seemed to be attempting. Michael aimed him approach to slam into the legs of Scylla and hopefully take them out from under her. It was doubtful that with her tendrils she'd be knocked down, at the very least he hoped it was knock her off balance enough for Elijah to pull off his plan. Michael trusted him to not be excessive... but he didn't know him enough to have any justification for that trust, it was all faith.
Notes & Tags: Yanai Hebiru | Elijah | Ylva Riis | Jouma Joukou TLDR: Michael used his quirk to stretch, bend, and squeeze past Scylla's attack. Putting faith in Elijah's plan, Michael bounced his way to build up speed before ricocheting off a container to launch himself at Scylla to knock her off balance by essentially knocking her legs out from under her with his hurtling body.

Rubber Meets the Road
Michael's use of his quirk and knowledge of aerodynamics managed to serve him well as he had done exactly as planned. Stretching and swooping with and around the air flow to then coil himself around her. Everything had seemed to work flawlessly. Except for the fact that Emilia was SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than Michael was physically. Her quirk gave her the durability and raw power to easily break free of his grapple. She merely needed to flex out her quirk's strength in order to shrug off the long balloon man and then toss him away with ease.
Michael inflated himself back up as he was chucked away, allowing him to bounce rather that splat onto the ground. He bounded back to his feet and faced back towards his classmate. Unfortunately, even if he had the desire to attack more aggressively against Emi, there was next to nothing he could do against her. Even earlier he had only been able to gain an advantage with his attacks by using her own force against her. While possible to continue trying to manipulate her actions to benefit that tactic, attrition was the only truly viable resort and even then he wasn't certain that her movements could wear her down faster than his avoiding her attacks would tire him out.
The only option was to call it there and accept his defeat. This was meant to be a spar after all, so there wasn't that much gained from not being able to give her a proper challenge. She could do cardio exercises for the same training this would give. "Well I think that's about the best I'm capable of yet." Michael conceded rather shyly. He felt embarrassed to not be a better challenge for her sake, but also not being as strong as someone in their position as a UAU student likely should be. This would need to be a course correction for him to strive for moving forward.
Notes & Tags: Emilia Hall | TLDR: Michael acknowledges that he's incapable of doing much more than this so he calls the spar there, feeling that he's not an adequate partner for Emi to improve against.

Inflated Stakes
Michael ran with the hostages in step behind him and six of the guards bound up in his arms. When freeing the hostages, he didn't wish to harm any of the people playing the role of the bad guys for the simulation. It wouldn't have mattered that much if this wasn't a staged exercise, Michael really didn't want to injure anyone. He sympathized with the position that villains felt they were forced to act wickedly and dangerously in order to survive or prosper in this world. He didn't want anyone to be in pain, so even for this simulation, with actors standing in practically as sparring partners, he didn't feel comfortable fighting them. After having disarmed them, Michael had wrapped them into his arms and carried them for the exit he was leading the hostages to. Unfortunately it seemed to be that this would be a rookie mistake in itself, only noticing too late that one of the hostages was merely playing the façade of one of the victims.
The university's nurse Dr. Yanai was to be playing the role of the big bad. This reveal could not come at a worse time as Michael had only just begun to lead the hostages to safety. With his hands figuratively and literally full at the moment, it swiftly shifted to a relay instead of a race as Michael would need to find his companions to hand off the hostages and guards. To Michael's relief the doctor, or more the character she was portraying, Scylla took the opportunity of Michael's encumbrance to make her own retreat. An announcement came over Michael's ear piece that had been haphazardly taped to the side of his balloon shaped head (with no external ears for the earbud to rest in), his new team was to prepare for combat. Michael couldn't waste any time; even without Scylla coming after him and the people he was protecting, the stakes had been raised and anyone going after her would need help before either side got reckless or violent.
Michael met up with the members of Team C and handed off possession of the criminals and hostages he had rescued. He couldn't waste any time; even without Scylla coming after him and the people he was protecting, the stakes had been raised and anyone going after her would need help before either side got reckless or violent. If he had any chance of deescalating this before anyone got hurt he would need to push his already exhausted body to get to Scylla first and find a way to convince her surrender. "Get everyone here to safety. I'll find a way to stop her." Michael assured his former teammates and began bounding off in the direction he had seen the pretend perpetrator had fled.
Michael caught up with his new companions, the members of Team F, rather quickly as they breeched the area. Michael was quick to try to give as much information as he could without slowing them down. "The villain is Dr. Yanai, going by Scylla. She was pretending to be one of the hostages. Everyone else is being escorted out now. We can still stop Scylla, but she's likely scared and feeling cornered. We should try to talk her down to coming with us peacefully so not to risk any one nearby or herself getting injured." Michael understood the gravity of his request to attempt a nonviolent approach, but he had to try and express his position clearly and unwaveringly.
As Michael and his teammates discussed the situation while in motion, the thuds of container doors and screech of metal forced them into action. Mechanical tendrils loomed from nearly every direction as Scylla declared that she only had wished for her demands to be met. While unlikely, especially at this point, it did seem there was some grounds for negotiation. Hebiru's character wanted something and while her desires couldn't be met, maybe if Michael could reach out to her, he could be able to talk her down. There was still a chance to help her...
"Yanai-sensei- I mean, Scylla! Wait! We can talk this ou-" Unfortunately, Michael didn't have the time or control of the situation to call for her ceasefire. The arrow-tipped tendrils began driving down at them from a myriad of directions. They moved in coordination and precision, so Michael wouldn't be able to try negotiations without getting past all of this first. While his rubber-like body was more resistant to piercing implements than the average latex balloon, one puncture would make his quirk very difficult to use. So Michael put his full attention into avoiding the tendrils and advancing towards Scylla. If one of his teammates got to her first, there wasn't a guarantee for her safety, so he needed to act fast.
Michael rushed towards Scylla, though this proved all the more difficult as there were a greater number of the tendrils nearest her. Using his latex-like limberness, Michael moved with all the flexibility and agility he could muster as he bobbed, weaved and coiled around attacking tendrils. He pushed air through his body like pumps through a hose to continue his drive forward while dodging around Scylla's quirk. Even stretching himself out too far ahead was a risky tactic as it held him his limbs on display for a piercing strike, so he needed to make short almost dancing-like bursts forwards. He couldn't make an attack on her, but if he got close enough maybe he could shoot that final stretch to her and try to convince her to turn herself in. With how much he had already pushed his body, this advance was gritting on his whole body, but if he had any chance of a peaceful resolution, he needed to get to her as quickly as he could to convince her to stop.

Bounce Back
Michael panted harshly as he tried to fight through the dizziness. His entire body stung like he had just sprinted a marathon, but he couldn't give up just yet. Even if this was just a simulation, a lot of people were counting on him. The plan seemed to be working as the majority of armed targets were firing on Masao and Emi. As the spots in his eyes began to settle, he focused and caught sight of the hostages. The only problem was, they had direct guards watching over them. Three of them opened fire at Michael's location forcing him to duck back behind the corner of the shipping container. Even with the shots being rubber bullets, Michael didn't want to chance getting hit by them. They didn't have much time left so he would need to act fast.
It seemed that Michael's desire to take this without any direct conflict had failed. Since they had already spotted him and time running out on this, his hand was forced. Perhaps his old friends in high school were right. It wasn't his quirk that would hold him back from being a hero... but it seemed his dream to not cause harm would put more in danger than help those in need. But Michael refused to accept that. He refused to let his weaknesses be the reason that people couldn't be saved. He came up with a plan of action, but needed it to be fast and precise.
Michael quickly peeked back down towards the area, ducking out of the way as more rubber bullets shot up at his very obvious red head. It would be hard to pull this off, but Michael was ready to do what it took. Michael gripped onto the edge of the container tightly as be backed away from the corner. His arms began to stretch tautly as he moved further and further backwards. He even stretched himself down the back side of the shipping container he was on; all the while tightening the rubber of his arms building up greater and greater tension. Pushing himself through the pain and his limits as he arched his back a final few inches and then jumped. Locked on the anchor of that edge, Michael's rubbery arms snapped back towards themselves, rubber-banding Michael towards his hands rapidly. Sling-shotting his whole body at a pellet's speed, Michael released his hold on the corner of the container and rocketed down towards the hostages and the guards around them. Michael hoped that the momentum and element of surprise with his launch would give him enough leeway to avoid any fire on him too directly and he plummeted at the attackers.
Getting closer was only half the plan as he stretched out his arms as fast as he could towards the two closest guards. While it would be easier to throw punches to try knocking them down or out, that wasn't acceptable for Michael, so he went for the next best thing, disarmament. Michael stretched out to grab the guns of the guards to yank away from them as he bounced against the ground. If he had managed it, he'd chuck the guns as far away as he could and immediately reach for the next set of guns. These guns in hand, he hurled them towards the last armed guards; more to it, he threw the guns at their guns. Best case scenario it would break all four, but Michael would settle for the chance of knocking the guns from their hands, or shocking them enough to allow him time to disarm them too.
With the guards disarmed and harming them as a last resort, Michael knew he needed to get the hostages out while the guards were without weapons. Michael inflated himself practically doubling in size as he stretched out his arms, grabbing the first two guards and coiling them back towards him. He shouted out in struggle as he attempted to pull them towards the other four attempting to ensnare all six into a inflated bear hug. Puffing himself up more, he looked to the hostages. "We're here to rescue you! Follow close and keep behind me!" Michael stated confidently.
He began moving with the six ensnared kidnappers in his arms as he led the hostages towards the exit. With everything falling apart, he worried his teammates were engaged in violence, but hoped that they were also safe. While he didn't want anyone harmed, he hoped that they would understand to just try to be merciful and cause as little damage as possible to both the criminals and themselves. Michael would try to keep the hostages with him so that he could protect them as needed as he tried to sneak them out of the warehouse as quickly and quietly as possible while Paragon and Lodestar ran distraction and interference.
Notes & Tags: Emilia Hall | Masao Ando | Kei Hada | Yanai Hebiru TLDR: Michael slingshot himself at the 6 guards and attempted to stretch, disarm and toss away their weapons before trying to grab and wrap them into his arms in a coiled bear hug. Once secured, he'd guide the hostages out of the warehouse as he would attempt avoid any further conflict while his teammates ran interference and distration.

Floating a Plan
Michael knew that Yoko had a hard time controlling her quirk, especially with it being so significantly influenced by her emotions. Still he wanted to be able to put a bright spin on any situation. So if her rain began to pour she would be able to see its advantages rather than feeling like she couldn't remain composed. Michael wanted her to be able to see how amazing she was, like he saw her. She seemed pretty pumped for the exercise, so it got him all the more fired up.
"Let's start up high and head down. I can float us up to the top floors. After I clear a few of the civilians, I'll float them back to the ground and become a crash pad so you can toss out the rest. We'll keep going that way until we hit an obstacle." Michael suggested. With this plan it would depend a lot of Yoko being fast and efficient clear the civilians from each floor and tossing them down to Michael. This also allowed him to then keep track of how the outside of the building seemed to be holding up against any challenges or new problems. That way he could get up to whatever floor she was on to help as needed.
The plan was simple enough to call an audible as needed and it gave Yoko the opportunity to be in control of the situation as Michael worked as support and catch. Unless she stated otherwise, Michael gripped onto his short friend, scooping under her arms as he inflated himself like a weather balloon. Swelling his body full of helium wouldn't be much of a struggle as it was just to float them to the top floor and with her size it didn't add much of a weight issue.
Michael floated them up quickly to the top of the building near the top of the fire escape of that side. Before expelling the air from his body, he lightly tossed Yoko onto the fire escape catwalk. Michael let the air out with a quick burst on his back, propelling his fall towards the fire escape. Catching himself on the railing of the floor just below Yoko, Michael pulled himself over and broke his way into the building with an inflated punch to the window. He'd need to be careful to avoid being scratched or punctured by the glass as that would definitely make their mission harder as it would severely dampen his abilities until he patched it.
Michael climbed through the opening carefully and began rushing through the floor of the building to find and gather any civilians he could find.
Notes & Tags: Yanai Yoko TLDR: Michael suggested a plan of action for the evacuation. Depending on if Yoko agreed, Michael would float them to the top floor and after dropping off Yoko would go to the next floor down. He would break in and start gathering civilians towards the escape and then take a few down to the ground to be ready to catch others that Yoko would through to him like a giant air bag.

Building Teamwork
Michael once again resigned to wearing his gym gear. Having developed a growing bond with Yoko and comfortability with a hero name was one thing but he still had no idea what to do for a uniform or any gadgetry that would help him better. He had focused on honing his physical prowess and capabilities with his quirk and hoped ideas beyond gear that was as flexible and pliable as he is would come to him over time. It was times like this thay Michael wish that he had something to help give him assistance with the task at hand.
The building looked to be an apartment complex and had at least 6 floors and who knew how many rooms. There were twin fire escapes up both sides and likely two stairwells inside to accommodate the tenants. Michael was always quick to help people but a full on emergency evacuation; that meant they couldn’t just rely on people being able to get out on their own, they’d have to go in and personally extract every single person.
“Yeah, it’s not gonna be easy but we’ll stick together and get through this no matter what challenges they throw our way.”
Michae wasn’t sure what their quirks would be able to do through most of this, but he was confident that they’d figure it out.
“Even if you never saw yourself as a rescue hero, these people will need our help and who knows, maybe some quick rain could be used to snuff out a fire or your strength to punch down a door. I believe in you Oniki! We can do this!” Michael beamed excitedly.
Notes Tags: Yanai Yoko TLDR: Michael wished he had gear that could help with a challenge like this, but he trusted Yoko and him would handle anything that came their way if they worked together.
