Mar's tail lashed out in a sweep to try and slap one of the two villains aside, but the other was quick to intercept and tank the hit. This guy was larger and heavier and bracing himself like that he was able to take the hit while only getting staggered back a few steps. They were in a brief standoff, her pursuit leading to a not-quite-dead-end up still a spot where she had thought she had an opportunity to take one of them out long enough to deal with the other. The problem was they kept covering for each other every time she tried to do something like that, and she'd have been impressed if it wasn't annoying to fight against!
"Oi!! Tiburón where you at?!''
"I'm at-" Mar was quick to try to reply, because if they were calling for her over comms they must have needed her help or something equally important. Unfortunately that split her attention just enough for her original target to quickly grab her tail and with a big twist yanked her off her feet and sent her spinning through the air like she was a hammer at the Olympics. Landing with a flop on her back, she was once again both annoyed and impressed that the smaller of the two was strong enough to toss her up onto the roof of the small building she had tried to pin them against. She could hear them debating down below on if they should go up after her or if it'd be better to try and attack her when she tried to come down, or if they should go help their friend deal with Hotshot and Phantasmagoria. That was last one spurred her into action, quickly getting to her feet when-
''Tiburón, let's regroup and fight these villains all together! Keep an eye on the sky!''
Lucille's voice came through and she couldn't help the little bit of amusement in her voice as she replied: "One step ahead of you." Not because she was already planning on regrouping, although if the other two had tried to jump them she technically would have been regrouping with her and Hotshot, but because she had coincidentally ended up already looking at the sky when Lucille's message came in. Sure enough she caught sight of Hotshots flare, bright enough to stand out against the gray sky even though she couldn't make out the actual color, and the darker silhouette of what was probably Lucille carrying Hotshot. Taking off as quick as she could, the other two villains cursed as they caught sight of the flare as well.
Now it was a race to see which group could meet back up first and overwhelm the other! , |

Mar didn't mind overcast as much as Lucille did, but she reached out to offer her a sympathetic little pat on the back all the same. She couldn't fly so she didn't know what it was like not being able to, but she tried to imagine it as being like if she couldn't swim for some weather related reason. That would certainly be a bummer.
More importantly she turned her attention to glancing around at the nearby 'prying eyes'. She considered not-quite-metaphorically following her nose by using her ability to sense electric fields, but unless there was some extreme electrical activity going on it wouldn't really tell her much. It wasn't like it gave her a map and she couldn't precisely tell if a blip was a person or a computer or something without confirming it for herself. It just kind of gave her a general sense of distance relative to herself and an idea of how big a blip it was the closer she got to it. Although she doubted she'd detect anything extremely noteworthy, at least there was potential merit in confirming the absence of major electrical activity too. So with a sigh and focusing on Lucille again she nodded in agreement. "Could be, Phantasmagoria, could be."
Flashing her own hero license alongside Lucille, Mar didn't bother to introduce herself and let Lucille handle it. She did give a little raise of her hand in greeting, though. She wasn't trying to be rude or anything, she just needed to conserve her energy for when she needed it most. Which in a situation like this could be at any moment. She did add one question to the end of the list of ones Lucille gave though: "Anything strange that stands out, even if it doesn't seem related?" , Lucille Arbogast, |

Mar trusted Lucille's hunches, since like she said they usually weren't wrong. Something probably was up, even if it might end up being something that wasn't as concerning as it sounded. She made a little "Ohh" of understanding as Lucille explained in more detail what went wrong with Ando's provisional license exam. It wasn't a super common issue as far as Mar was aware, but only because most of the manufacturing students didn't also want to be heroes themselves. At a glance though it would probably look like Ando had failed where most wouldn't, so she'd have to make sure to keep an eye out for any signs of that bothering her - it was easy to misunderstand statistics and things like that. Knowing that it was Quirk training that she needed too gave her some ideas on how to help train her up physically and quirk-ally at the same time.
"Yeah, of course." Mar agreed to help observe in the upcoming bomb run, frowning at the mention of how serious things had gotten in the past few months. She wasn't entirely sure if it was going to be that way long term or if it was just a chaotic patch in history they were currently in, but either way Lucille was right about the students having a lot more on their plate. "Hey, I'm a-ahhh-lways serious." She objected, her complaint falling flat thanks to the yawn in the middle of 'always' and promptly falling asleep by the time she had finished speaking.
She would actually do her best to be Serious Mode when the time came of course, and when she woke up again she'd make sure to show her appreciation for the blanket and pillow too. But for now? She needed a nice power nap. , |

It was good to hear the younger Gotoh was doing well in the more academic side of things too, even if she still floundered a bit on tests. Maybe it was just an awkward phase? Or maybe she'd have to try talking to Sadako for ideas. She was the school counselor after all, and also the older Gotoh sibling and all that. She should definitely be able to give some kind of insight on what would help her best.
Ylva Rias on the other hand, was almost the opposite as far as she could tell. "Rias is hardworking, capable, but not a team player. Well, I suppose she's also not very fast but I don't think that's necessarily a problem long-term as long as she's aware of it. The teamwork thing is a bit more... Here's hoping she grows out of it?" Mar shrugged her shoulders with a sigh. She'd have to think up ways to try to coax Rias into getting along with others a bit better down the road too. "Khepri got the right spirit I think, she means well and she has a lot of energy. She gets side tracked with questions really easily though, and sometimes ones I have no idea how to answer because they don't seem to have anything to do with the class or an exercise... and admittedly I've looked up some answers I ended up curious about later. That's not really an issue either as long as she can focus when it counts, but I'll have to keep an eye out for any of that zoning out you've mentioned."
Accepting the last file, Mar glanced through it with a curious tilt of her head and a thump of her tail against the floor. "I see. That's pretty rough. I assume it was a training issue, not anything wrong with her decision making or personality?" That was Mar's best guess anyways, since the file didn't seem like it'd belong to a trouble maker or anything like that. Either way though, if a student wanted more P.E. time then more P.E. time they would get. "I'll get in touch with her, but if you see her first let her know I'm more than happy to schedule some extra classes for her, or maybe some specialized training to help her problem areas..."
Mar trailed off in thought, propping her elbow up and resting her head in her hand as she gave a low humming sound to herself. She was so busy thinking that she didn't notice when she drifted off for a second, or maybe a minute or two.

Mar entered the bar with one hand going up to stifle a yawn, turning her hand around into a light wave at Hoshi before dropping her hand back down at her side and taking a seat - taking care not to hit anyone or anything with her tail. "Hey, Hoshi-san. Popping in for a quick recharge. Are you ever not here at work?" She was joking of course, but in the years she'd lived in Japan and popped by this little bar from time to time she didn't think she remembered Hoshi not being behind the counter. Probably just a funny coincidence, or Hoshi was a workaholic. She didn't pay the other customers any mind aside from a brief glance and a quick smile, before giving a quick order so she wouldn't take up too much of Hoshi's time: "Suplex and a... hows your shrimp stock looking? If you're not low, the marinated shrimp would be great."

Mar gave a half-wary, half-curious glance at Lucille's coffee mug. What hellish concoction was she drinking today? Burnt-to-charcoal, so sweet you'd get cavities, or maybe accidentally dumping in a bunch of salt without realizing it wasn't sugar? She had made the mistake of giving Lucille the benefit of the doubt when it came to drinks in the past, but she still found herself morbidly curious from time to time. She couldn't help it, even if she'd immediately regret it most of the time.
Putting the mystery coffee out of mind as Lucille shifted the topic to a particular student, Mar set her water aside to lean forward and take a look at the file. Squinting a bit to make out the tones of gray in the photo enough to recognize the student, she gave a nod as she listened to Lucille's assessment. "Actually, that's almost what I'd say about her too." Pursing her lips thoughtfully, trying to think of how to sum up the student in questions physical performance, her tail thumped lightly against the floor. "Its... a mixed bag, is the best way I can put it. I've seen her nail solo exercises, she goes through routines without complaint, and she'll throw herself at an obstacle over and over again until she can overcome it. She doesn't have any issues with cooperating in groups either. But the problem is, any time there's a sense of... pressure, I guess, or she knows people are watching her, she suddenly becomes one of the clumsiest people I've ever seen. I haven't checked with the counselor or anything yet, but I think its some kind of extreme performance anxiety and I'm not exactly sure what mix of poking and space-giving is best to help her out."
Tipping her head as a thought came to her, she added. "Does she do well on tests in your class?"
There were other students that Mar now found herself curious about comparing their impressions of, but there was plenty of time to go over those later. Knowing Lucille she'd need a nice long chat to recharge her battery so to speak, and Mar was happy to oblige. , |

Standing off to one side, giving Lucille plenty of room and ensuring she was the focus point for the gathered students, Mar was propped up against a wall with her tail sprawled out around her feet and her arms crossed under her chest. At a glance the blonde teacher probably looked like she wasn't paying attention, but she absolutely was... she was just also resting her eyes for a minute! Lucille had an energy about her that was infectious, even for someone as chronically lethargic as Mar, and the way she spoke conveyed the animated energy she moved about with so well that Mar didn't even need to see it to picture it.
If she hadn't become a teacher or a pro hero, Lucille would have made an excellent stage actor or show host of some kind.
Making sure to keep a distance to allow for any questions to go uninterrupted, Mar pushed herself off the wall and stretched her arms over her head before falling into pace beside her fellow teacher on their way into the USJ. She was just here to watch and keep Lucille company, maybe help if it really ended up being needed in some way. Mostly she just wanted to see how the students handled the challenge and maybe get an idea of any physical shortcomings she could help them with in the future. Glancing over at Lucille she offered a quiet comment:
"Nice speech. Was that whole thing improvised?" It was a sincere question too, since she doubted most people could give a speech like that without scripting out at least some of it. But stuff like this probably came naturally to Lucille so it wouldn't surprise her if the whole thing was off the top of her head.
Perhaps more importantly, she found herself curious to see how motivating that temporary sidekicks opportunity would be and if rewards like that might make for a good teaching device in general. , |

Mar smiled at the compliment before sighing again and giving a nod. While it was true she didn't have to assign much homework, she had a lot of hands-on assisting and observing to do and that meant quite a lot of physical activity herself throughout her day. It didn't seem like much but showing students how to navigate a hazard course got exhausting when you had to do it over and over again in the span of a couple hours. Lucille handing over the water with a self aware comment and sticking her tongue out at her brought Mar's own mood right back up though, giving a laugh that showed off her sharp teeth for a moment and taking an appreciative sip of her drink.
Tail flicking along the ground beside her, the P.E. teacher gave a sympathetic glance at the paperwork before leaning back in her seat with a thoughtful look on her face.
"Overall? They're good kids. Some of them have some strange reasons for being here at UAU, and I have to call out people trying to make fun of others performances a lot, but there were kids like that when I went here too and most of them ended up as perfectly fine heroes." Taking another sip of her water and shrugging her shoulders she continued. "The hardest ones to work with are the timid ones. They're afraid of getting hurt and don't realize how tough they already are, or how useful their Quirk can be when it comes to something like making a big jump. I want to ease them into it, but if they're left at their own pace they'll never get over that hurdle... but I feel bad just throwing them into a sink-or-swim, you know? Even if I know its not really a sink-or-swim, since I'm right there to help out if I need to."
After a pause and giving another sleepy yawn, Mar turned the questions back around to Lucille: "What's your impression? Any easily bored types disturbing the peace of the classroom?"

Mar sent a reply that she'd be right there and made a beeline for Lucille's office as she wondered what was up. She was still walking, but for her it was a power walk and a quicker pace than her normally lethargic strolling around when she was going somewhere. If it was important enough to ask her to come by to talk, be it a problem student or some other school issue - or maybe related to their hero work? - she didn't want to keep Lucille waiting. When she knocked on the door her usual sleepy expression was replaced by scrunched up eyebrows in concern, only to get pulled into a big hug the moment she entered.
Slow to process the usual cheeriness from Lucille with the seriousness tone of her message, Mar returned the hug with a sigh and a shake of her head as a smile settled onto her face. "I'm fine, Lu-Lu." She took a seat in a methodical and deliberate way that involved maneuvering her tail to not knock the chair over or get pinched in the process of sitting down. Bringing her hands up in a defensive little gesture at the offer, she shook her head. "Ah, no thanks... I've had a lot of caffeine today anyways." Which absolutely was true, in her defense. Not that it would stop her from downing another three cups of coffee before the day was over. "What's up? You sounded pretty serious in your message, you know."
The way she said it, punctuated by a small yawn she stifled behind the knuckles of one hand briefly coming up to her mouth, Mar was playfully in her own deadpan sort of way accusing Lucille of deceiving her. , |

Although she comes across as a weary, tired person she doesn't consider herself to be one. She likes trying new things, be it questionably edible things just to see what they're like to a new show she hasn't seen yet. Even though she gets tired quickly she is an outgoing person that is often out and about around the city in her free time, quick to offer extra assistance to students or anyone else she thinks she can lend a hand to. While she doesn't get riled up easily and makes an effort to understand where someone else is coming from she doesn't take badmouthing of others well regardless of how accurate it is and can't stand being forced to wait around for something - be it long lines or just someone wasting her time. She is very much not a morning person, though, and cannot really function without coffee several times throughout her day. On hot days she swaps to iced coffee and can become extremely grumpy without realizing it in the summer. In equal parts because of her Quirk, fondness for the ocean and swimming, and her work as a hero exposing her to the more cruel sides of society, Mar is an advocate for animal rights and especially for sea life and has a particular distaste for shark-fin-poaching. Even though she doesn't like to admit it she is irrationally afraid of whales due to their sheer size. She has to go through some effort to keep her tail out of the way, making sure it doesn't get caught on anything or knock anything over, and she often stands a little further away than is considered normal during conversation or off to the side or near walls out of habit. She keeps the front of her bright yellow hair short, but lets the sides grow out and often keeps the back in a pair of thin ponytails. She has resting sleepy face and often looks like she's bored or about to doze off, which is only true when she's exhausted herself and needs a power nap. Her teeth are very sharp and triangular like a sharks, most visible when she's talking or laughing, and is sometimes missing one or two from time to time for various reasons before they get a chance to grow back. Mar has a pair of blue lightning-bolt tattoos on both of her cheeks, starting at the outer edges of her eyes and ending just above her jawline. She has a pretty broad sense of fashion, wearing all manner of outfits as it suits her, but absolutely zero sense of color coordination due to being color blind. During her work at UAU she alternates between gym clothes, dress shirts and slacks, or her hero uniform as appropriate. [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]HISTORY Formerly an exchange student from Spain, Mar came to appreciate Japan enough to move there long term. The plentiful seafood, easy access to the ocean, need for tsunami and other ocean related rescues, and the plague of poachers targeting sea life are all things that contributed to her decision. After graduating from UAU she spent her rookie years as a pro hero struggling to balance her new responsibilities, home life, and various part-time jobs. Anyone who knew her during this time would remember her as even more tired and half-dead than she normally seems, but she's since managed to settle into a pace that works for her without running herself ragged. While many join agencies after graduation, Mar refrained from doing so for quite awhile due to thinking she had too much on her plate as it was. She has since changed her mind on this, but hasn't gotten around to actually reaching out to any specific agency. During her time as a hero she ended up being asked to help show Lucille, a Pro Hero known as Phantasmagoria, around and ended up working alongside and befriending her. She considers her to be a good friend and hero - as well as amusingly bizarre at times. After one of the teachers that had served at UAU retired from their position and her friend ended up applying as well, Mar felt compelled to take up a teaching position there herself to help train the next generation of heroes the same way the previous one had helped train her. While she is far from a big name, she does have a reputation for attempting to resolve conflicts as quickly and peacefully as possible and an uncompromising attitude towards those guilty of animal cruelty and poaching. Extreme electrical activity can be overwhelming in the same way a bright light or strong smell might be, and quick changes in orientation can be especially disorienting due to her sense of balance being regulated largely by her head and tail.
