The knock on the door prompted Mar to give the door a sleepy glance, head propped up on one hand and half-dozing. Yawning and stifling it behind one hand, she perked up at the names given. Sitting up straight and taking a moment to fix her hair and get her serious-teacher-mode face on, she called out. "Enter." And glanced at a clock to make sure they were in fact on time after they had said it. She'd heard about what had happened in a vague, second-hand sort of way and it'd been decided to have her handle it. Mostly because other teachers were busy, but it'd meant she'd gotten a chance to sneak in some rest while she waited at her office for the two to arrive.
Sizing up the two students, her face was stony and deadpan and probably came across as intimidating to most people. Noting the hand holding one of her eyebrows twitched upward in curiosity, but she didn't dwell on it. It wasn't her business at all and they were adults, but she did admittedly have an inner gossip from time to time. As she turned her attention toward Enma and gave a nod, she confirmed in a level tone: "Explain yourselves, both of you."
While there had already been some debate among teachers on what to do tossed around, Mar was insistent on hearing what Ando and Arashi had to say for themselves. Had they gone seeking trouble and then caused all that damage? Were they just caught up in the moment? Was the damage they caused the best they could do to prevent worse damage from happening? Had they panicked and lost control of the situation? To Mar more important was assessing them as future heroes and figuring out what problem points could be revealed by this whole incident and what training might help them improve. Technically in the form of detention, probably, so that it seemed like a punishment. Masao Ando, enma,

Mar's tail lashed out again as Kodai charged, whiffing through the water as he stopped just shy of being hit and dived instead. That was good, he could take a hit but wasn't a meathead about it and knew how to adjust his strategies. She was about to race off again when suddenly Kodai transformed again and she found a massive whale-like dinosaur looming in front of her. Immediately a tingle of unease went down her back and along her tail, the sheer size putting her on edge as she hesitated for a moment. The huge blip of an electrical field was putting her on edge too, but that was something most other people wouldn't understand.
She really, really wasn't a fan of huge creatures and especially not huge whale-like creatures in the water, and reflexively muttered a warbled "Big..." to herself.
But she had a student to teach and needed to set a good example so she pushed those irrational feelings aside and made her move. Not for the ocean floor, but up towards the surface - aiming to launch herself out of the water with enough speed and power to arc through the air and hopefully make Kodai lose sight of her as she used his current forms size to try and get into his blind spots. She'd have to be careful to not get hit, but if she managed to dive back into the water she was going to do her best to stay out of his line of sight. The benefit of being so small compared to such a large opponent was every movement Kodai made would be easy to see - and feel, with the shifting of the water - coming. Marcus Ryu Kodai,

"Got it." Was all Mar had to say in response, bringing her hands up to lightly hold onto Lucille's transformed ankles with each hand as they took off. It wasn't necessary and she knew Lucille wouldn't drop her, but it made her feel just a bit more secure whenever they took off like this. And it beat walking too, meant she could conserve her energy for the critical moments. She'd just have to treat Lucille later to make up for burning her energy instead.
She wasn't doing nothing at all though, focusing on trying to pick up any nearby electrical fields as they went. Lots of random ones that were probably electronics, some that were definitely civilians...
"Not much. Bomb-nut, probably blown herself up just as much as anyone else, and easy to set off. Betting pool says she's Quirkless, but probably makes all her stuff." Mar went through what limited info she had. She'd never actually fought Bakiretsu herself so all of it was just the usual second-hand knowledge that went around when it came to high profile villains like her. Taking a breath to prepare herself once it was getting close to time for drop off, Mar gave a nod even though Lucille couldn't see it. "Don't worry, I don't plan on being sashimi today... and same goes to you, got it?"
It was a brief bit of banter before a serious fight, the shark hero falling silent after that as she got ready for a whole lot of explosion-dodging and more likely than not having to run interference to protect other people from being exploded too. Lucille Arbogast, Bakiri Retsu

Plummeting towards the ground with Serpent, Mar's tail slapped against the side of a wall they were fortunate enough to fall near and redirected their momentum sideways. It was still a rough landing, but far safer than falling straight down into concrete. Not for her own sake - she used Serpent as a cushion anyways - but to make sure the villain didn't get too hurt. Between some blood loss and the impact though, he was definitely down for the count. Opening her mouth to make sure she didn't make the bite worse, the shark hero had a sleepy look on her face as she went through the motions of using a piece of Serpents own clothing as a makeshift bandage.
Even though he was unconscious for now, Mar kept one hand on the side of his head so he couldn't try to aim at anyone and get them with a sneaky blast as she went about restraining him properly.
"Good work, Phanta-aaahhh-smagoria." Mar returned the thumbs up only to bring her hand to her mouth to stifle a yawn mid-sentence. She was exhausted after using so much energy and could really use a nap around now. In response to Lucille's question she held her thumb out sideways in a so-so gesture that meant she was fine but tired before asking: "Arm okay?"
Finding a cozy enough wall to prop herself against while Hotshot finished up with Stoneskin, the villain ended up crashing through the building barely a foot away from her. It didn't bother her any, arms crossed under her chest and head down as she did her best to resist the call of a nap for a little longer. She was listening though and she chimed in with a deadpan "That's right." to go along with Lucille's teasing. Besides, a bloody steak dinner sounded good right now. With a nod and retrieving her cellphone, with a blue and white shark case on it, and finding a wall to lean up against she called it in. "Tiburón here. Need pickup, three villains. Minor injuries."
Hanging up after the extremely concise call in, Mar gave her side a rub before chiming in once more on the banter between Lucille and Hotshot. "It's good exercise anyways, Lu-Lu..." Head tipping down, Mar fell asleep on the spot. Lucille Arbogast,

Mar gave a quick twist of her own as Kodai intercepted her path, successfully forcing her to abandon the idea of using the crevices against him. Instead of trying to evade the attempt to ram her the shark hero continued to turn brought her tail around in a strong swipe to meet it head on. Or well, tail-on anyways. She wasn't nearly using full force, but she was putting actual effort into it and if Kodai didn't have some trick up his sleeve or some way to avoid it he was probably about to get tumbled through the water from the force.
Even if he did though, Mar was already impressed with him catching on to what she had been trying to do so quickly and she couldn't help the sharky smile on her face.
If the two attacks did collide, Mar wasn't going to be shrugging it of either. She was a pro, and strong, but she wasn't really that much more durable than a normal athelete and had far less stamina. So if that did happen, she'd be catching her breath - even under water she did still have to do that - and giving her tail a rub with one hand as she got ready for Kodai to recover and come at her again. Assuming he hadn't done something tricky that completely changed that outcome, she'd also flick her eyes around underwater to consider what to test him with next. Sandy hills, underwater boulders... She had a few ideas.

Back when she had first become a pro hero, the brief glimpse she got of lightning clipping Lucille's wing or Hotshot's clear exhaustion would have distracted her and she definitely would have gotten herself squished. Today though? Mar knew to have faith in her fellow heroes and knowing when and where she needed to intervene, and sludge raining down from above was all the signal she needed.
"It's called Hollow Hunger, I'll let you judge if that's cool or not." She answered, dipping backwards as the hammer hands barely missed crushing her. The two big blocky quirk-enhanced hands slammed together with a thunderous bang, Mar's foot coming up as she turned to the side and slammed her foot down on the top of his hands hard enough to make him stumble forward. Then she was hopping over him before he could recover, tail smacking him in the face as she went and making him stumble backwards with an angry growl as he whirled around to try and swipe at her before she could follow up with an attack at his back. Except, Mar wasn't there and his fist hit nothing but air as the shark hero bolted away from the fight.
"Running away? Some hero!"
Instead of replying Mar shouted: "Shift Change!" and jumped onto the nearest sludge puddle as hard as she could. Instead of splashing or getting her feet stuck it it she was launched into the air like she had jumped on a trampoline. Mere moments after Serpent declared his victory Mar's sharp teeth dug into his right shoulder seemingly out of nowhere, the Shark Hero clamping down at just the right spot to make it hard to use that arm without getting too close to his neck. At the same time one hand came up to slam against the bottom of his jaw pre-emptively, forcing his mouth shut as he reflexively yelled in pain and snapped his head down to try and blast her off him. The pair zigged and zagged in the air, Serpent doing his best to try to shake her loose without getting himself hurt further and struggling to get a clean hit on her with his claws.
As long as she kept Serpent from getting her with a solid claw swipe or a blast of electricity, all she had to do was wait it out. A little blood loss wouldn't kill him, but it would ensure he couldn't fight much longer at his full strength. The landing might be a little rough, though, if they did fall... but she'd cross that bridge when she came to it.

Slouching slightly in her seat, feeling tired after an already long day of running around, Mar stifled a yawn as she watched her drink get prepared. She wasn't talented in drink mixing herself, so watching Hoshi work was always nice to see. "Hope its not too bad." She commented about someone getting sick. "Tiring." She was all she really had to say about her day so far, as if she wasn't always tired as far as other people could tell. But she gave a smile anyways, taking her drink and giving a little cheers gesture at Hoshi before taking a sip. It wasn't a hardcore drink by any means but it had a kick to it all the same, and the peachy taste was refreshing enough to give her a little bit more energy. Not much, but at least she wasn't likely to fall asleep at the bar while waiting for her food now.
Another arrival from what Mar assumed was a regular got a glance and a little half-raise of one hand to return the greeting. She wasn't sure what she was talking about, but it wasn't her business anyways. She assumed it was scratch card lottos or something, or maybe some kind of hobby game. Probably the latter since she mentioned her friends by handles of some kind. She'd mentally congratulate her on getting a win, since it sounding like that was a rare thing, expressing it with a lazy thumbs up but otherwise content to stay out of the conversation and sip at her drink.
"No rush." Mar replied at Hoshi's comment about the food taking a bit for Zane to cook it up, and honestly she meant it. She needed the pick-me-up to recharge, but this also let her just rest for a bit so a few extra minutes wouldn't get any objections from her. Whatever conversations were going on around her, Mar didn't pay it too much mind - it wasn't her business and she didn't make a habit of eavesdropping. Well, when it wasn't her friends talking and she couldn't help but be curious. But she definitely didn't have any interest on eavesdropping on strangers who were just meeting up with friends of their own. Hoshi Makise, Nobu, Kawahara Ruri,

Mar pursed her lips thoughtfully at Kodai saying he hoped he wouldn't be a disappointment. If she was Lucille she'd probably give him a warm smile, maybe an encouraging pat on the back or something, and some kind words? Mar wasn't sure if she could pull that kind of reassurance off, so instead she just made a mental note to keep an eye on Kodai's self-esteem for now. It wasn't uncommon, especially among first years, and he'd probably grow out of it just fine. If not, well, that was what the teachers and the school councilor was for, right? She wasn't sure what he was so deep in thought for either but she tried her best to be patient, even if she hated waiting, and she could sense little blips of extra electrical activity from Kodai so she assumed he was doing... something. If it was Quirk related or Gear related she had no idea, but it was a little bit more electrically active than it had been a bit ago.
Finally he was ready and transformed into what looked to her like a really long nosed dolphin-shark-tortoise-thing, sort of. She couldn't be certain since she couldn't see colors at all, but the shades of gray of his transformation blended in with the water enough that she was already considering that this could be great for infiltration in the future... if she could get someone to confirm that the form blended into the water as well as she thought it did.
But then they were off, Kodai lunging after her through the water with just as much speed as she had launched herself, and right away Mar had to twist in the water and with another flick of her tail send herself off at a diagonal angle to evade his first attempt at grabbing her. She wasn't sure, but that extra long mouth his transformation had would probably be able to snag her pretty easily if she wasn't careful to keep track of her legs, arms and tail while evading. So another flick of her tail sent her down towards one of the deep, narrow crevices in the simulated ocean. Some spots were even too small for her at their narrowest point, so navigating it without losing sight of her should prove a good exercise.
If he did happen to lose her though, she was going to pop out where he could see her again just to keep the training going - she wasn't here to win, she was here to train a student who needed to get used to the water. Marcus Ryu Kodai,

No rope burns, and presumably no other definitive kinds of prints that things like fingers would leave... Something strong but not strong enough? Mar was focused on the neck damage part of the puzzle. Thumping her tail against the ground in thought, she was leaning more and more towards it being either some kind of Quirk appendage that had done it, like vines or tentacles or something, or a similar piece of technology. The glance from Lucille pulled her out of her thoughts and she gave a little nod as they went to listen to what the witness, Suki, had to say. It didn't really help much, but it did paint some kind of a picture in Mar's head - either the killer or the victim had been determined to do something during the encounter. Maybe the murder was committed under duress for some reason, a hostage situation or to prevent the victim from doing something? She couldn't discount that possibility, so she made a mental note to try and avoid immediately jumping the culprit once they found them if she could avoid it.
She didn't think it'd justify a murder, but if there was some true mastermind at work then the bulk of the punishment should be directed at them and not at someone stuck doing dirty work.
Lucille's questions were the ones she was actually going to ask if nobody else did, so Mar just added onto it to try and help the witness out: "How did they talk, too? Closer to how I do, or to how she sounds?" Her own voice was on the deeper, deadpan side - a consequence of always being low on energy - and it was no secret that Lucille's was full of energy as a sharp contrast. It wouldn't be too much to go on even with an answer, but every piece helped get them closer to figuring this out. Letting Suki think about and give her answer, Mar gave a shake of her head at Lucille's question with another sigh. "No more than the usual, but I'll keep my 'nose' on it."
She would too, fully intending to keep her sense for electrical fields in her attention just to make sure something big or strange didn't get the jump on them. It'd come in handy in a potential chase as well, if she was managed to identify which field belonged to a fleeing suspect before they could get away from them. She hoped it didn't come to that though, chases tired her out more than anything... but she didn't get to pick and choose what was required in the name of duty. gamelizardnarrator, Lucille Arbogast,

Kodai clearly thought his answer wasn't very good or helpful, and maybe the perpetual sleepy expression on Mar's face didn't help, but it actually gave her an idea of exactly what she needed to do. "Alright, we can do that. First things first then, show me what you can do in the water as is and that'll tell me exactly what level of training you're looking for."
Hopping into the water herself so that she could easily observe any underwater activity without the reflection on the water surface or any other kind of distortion getting in her way, she floated about with just enough movement to keep water going through her gills. While it looked calm and flat from the surface, underneath it was a whole simulated ocean complete with uneven crevices that went down deeper, artificial rocks and coral, and plenty of sandy slopes and hills. Letting Kodai have some time to go through whatever he felt like doing to showcase where he was at to her, Mar was going to get down to the actual training. Popping her head back above the surface to speak clearly, she got ready to use up a whole bunch of energy. "Kodai-san, I'm sure you already know from your combat teachers that movement and positioning is one of the most important parts of a fight, right?" She paused long enough for a response before continuing. "And sometimes a fight is also a chase, on and off, and its a hero's job to try and apprehend the villain without letting anyone get hurt in the process if they can help it. But in water you have to worry about up and down a lot more, and cornering someone isn't as simple as it is on land. So we're going to have a race and I want you to do everything you can to try and capture me. Sound good?"
If he didn't have any objections, Mar was going to give a "Ready, Set, Go!" before diving back underwater and with a powerful flick from her tail send herself rocketing through the water. She wasn't actually all that much faster than him, she assumed, since she wasn't a speed focused hero or anything. But she had experience in moving around underwater, and she wanted this to be a learning experience - so if Kodai tried to grab her she was planning on making hard work.
He might surprise her and get her on the first or second try, but she had some tricks up her sleeve and was planning on making him learn to restrict her movement options if he didn't figure it out on his own right away. Marcus Ryu Kodai,

Keeping her eyes closed a little longer when she hear the sounds of footsteps jogging over, Mar straightened up with a slap of her tail against the ground and a yawn. Opening her eyes at Kodai's apology she offered the student a reassuring - if sleepy - shake of her head. "It happens, Kodai-san, no need for apologies." Most teachers would probably have emphasized the importance of punctuality, but Mar didn't know why he had lost track of time and it really hadn't been that late an arrival anyways. Anything from traffic to getting held up longer with some kind of task could take up an extra five minutes pretty easily... though she doubted it was traffic since they were still on UAU grounds and all.
Attempting to energize herself a bit Mar clapped her hands together and clasped them together.
"Well then, how do you want to go about this? Dip-your-toes-in or dive in head first?" She wasn't sure what teaching style Kodai would respond to the best, and she was going to have to adjust on the fly as they went. But she didn't mind, that just came with the job. If he wanted to start slow, she'd ask him to swim around a bit to warm up. But on the other hand if he wanted to jump right into it? She'd hop into the water herself for some under-water sparring to see what she was working with. Either way though she didn't move until Kodai decided, but if he left it up to her? She'd probably go with diving in head first.
The way she figured it, she could always scale it back once she had an idea of how well Kodai handled being underwater. Marcus Ryu Kodai

Mar was maybe a little late to the party. Not because she had been busy with work of the heroic or teacher-ic variety, but because her quick power nap had maybe gone on longer than expected. She'd been using a lot of energy lately though, so could you blame her? She doubted anyone would hold it against her, but she hurriedly donned her costume and made her way to join the rest of the teaching staff and visiting heroes unwinding and having fun. So Mar joined the party wearing a cowboy costume she had modified to account for her tail, a prop lasso wrapped around one arm. Bringing one hand up she greeting everyone with a still-sleepy-sounding: "Howdy, ya'll." in her best attempt at a cowboy impression. Which was comical more than accurate, especially with the half-dead lack of energy she put into it right now. But she didn't pay that any mind, turning her attention to seeing who else was here and what costumes they had come in. She spotted a big frog, a hula girl, a really elaborate princess looking kind of outfit, a mummy, some kind of horror villain, a couple she didn't recognize, two that seemed to be wearing normal clothes but maybe it was some kind of cosplay? And when she spotted Lonewolf, Mar almost wanted to facepalm - she'd gone with cowboy because she figured nobody else would here in Japan! Well, at least his outfit was different enough from hers, going for a more realistic approach or something, that she didn't feel too dumb. She was still waking up a bit, but she had heard something about a costume contest on the way in? Honestly she wasn't sure who she would vote for, everyone had fun costumes - even if she didn't get what some of them were. Maybe the frog, since it seemed the most unique... She'd give it some thought while seeing who to chat with, maybe check out the drinks and snacks while she was at it? It was rare that Mar got to do a swimming focused training exercise with the students. Everyone did a little bit here and there, like simulated floods, but those often were rescue oriented lessons and Mar was just lending her expertise as one of the relatively few heroes that excelled at swimming and could breathe underwater. Today though? She was holding an extra training session for a student that had reached out to her about specifically underwater training. It was student she hadn't gotten a chance to get much of an impression of yet too, so she was looking forward to that as well.
UAU had the USJ and a whole section dedicated to ocean-like conditions and Mar herself didn't really have to even jump through too many hoops to set up the lesson. Just making sure with the school it was free and wouldn't interfere with any other lessons and gave everything a once over to make sure nothing from previous exercises was lingering around in a way that might cause problems. She hadn't even needed to really do much more than that because of how on the ball UAU was when it came to keeping the facilities ready to use at practically all hours.
Popping up from underwater and making her way back to land, Mar quickly ran through a mental checklist before giving a little nod to herself. Retrieving her phone and pushing her hair out of her eyes, she sent a quick email to the student in question - Kodai, if she hopefully remembered the name correctly - letting them know the USJ was ready to go and to meet her there.
Putting her phone away and stifling a yawn with one hand, the P.E. teacher picked a nearby rock to take a lean against while she waited for Kodai to arrive. And maybe close her eyes for a second. Marcus Ryu Kodai

"Fine!" Mar shouted back to let Hotshot know she was good. A bit sore, and definitely getting tired, but no concerning injuries. Cracking a sharp-toothed smile of her own in response to Lucille's, she brought her arms up over her head in a quick stretch as the three heroes successfully regrouped. "Don't worry about it if I pass out the second we're done here." She noted quietly, more for Hotshot's sake than Lucille's. Lucille was already well aware of how quickly the shark hero could slip into a nap after a fight.
"Yeah, I got him. Some kind of blocky, armored-arms thing or something." She wasn't sure how to describe it really, so she called out a quick: "Oi! Big guy! What do you call your Quirk-hands-things?"
The big guy looked surprised and like he was about to reply when suddenly his two allies were on the move and he wasted no time in following suit. While Hotshot handled the small one and Phantasmagoria handled the fast one, Mar had to duck and weave to avoid the barrage of palm strikes being sent her way. He was advancing on her too, forcing her into a slow retreat. Probably trying to break them up again. The attacks was one thing, but his tough talk prompted her to scoff as she dodged and twisted, tail slapping out to catch against the side of his extended arm and forcing him to stumble to the side. "Yeah, I'm tired, so the sooner we deal with you guys the sooner I can sleep."
Mar followed up with a kick, the man blocking with his palms as he tried to regain his footing and momentum. Mar didn't press the attack though, slipping around to the side as he lashed out with another palm strike that would have caught her in the side if she hadn't been ready to dodge. As it was it still glanced against her like she'd gone sliding shirtless across a brick wall, leaving a stinging abrasion where his hand had passed by.
"Then let me send you into an early nap with these hands of mine - I call them Hammerhands!" Another tail slap pushed the big guy back a little as he continued his pursuit of Mar, and the hero paused long enough to ignore the stinging in her side and ask: "Like the shark?"
"No!"
Apparently he didn't like that comparison because his charges came faster and more reckless. The problem was, her attacks didn't seem to be bothering him all that much either. Phantasmagoria and Hotshot seemed to be in standstills of their own too, but Mar wasn't too worried. She just needed to wait and find the right moment to give a decisive strike. Lucille Arbogast,

Mar didn't let the comment bother her. She knew what it was like to be tired on the job, and some heroes were showboaters or not as good at much that wasn't punching people hard yet tried to get involved in things that were over their heads. She'd never been a showboater and she knew her limits, but back when she was a rookie she had her fair share of accidentally causing more work for other people when she didn't mean to. Lucille didn't seem to mind it either, so there was no real reason to dwell on it at all. Instead, she tried to recall if she had ever heard of FreeQuirk or the other names being mentioned before.
The glance Lucille gave her was met with a slight shake of her head to indicate that no, she hadn't heard of Geo Koji before. Listening to Lucille's guesses, tail lightly thumping at the ground beside her as she thought, Mar eventually nodded in agreement. "Yeah, that's our best bet. Before we do though, any idea what caused the neck trauma or any other injuries? Ropes, hands, that kind of thing?"
She was guessing the victim had been strangled and the poison was forced into their mouth, but she didn't want to fall into the trap of trying to guess what happened without more evidence. So many different things could have happened that it was better to figure out what didn't happen first, at least to her. gamelizardnarrator, Lucille Arbogast,
