| ★Jason Riviera★ | @crystalprincekupo Location: Kotoku, Tokyo, Japan. | Current Status: Flooding in Tokyo Bay, evacuate to higher ground! Now Playing: Toby Fox - Hopes And Dreams Kupo moved back further onto the rooftop to make space as Hebiru ascended, responding with a simple nod and yip to the nurse's question. He had a few scrapes and scratches, some of which would definitely hurt later, but none debilitating or severe. Kupo looked out across the waterlogged street, seeing a dark barrier but no concrete evidence of the other student present. "Vigil was down there last I saw, but I'm sure he's okay too, he's strong." As the wave approached, Kupo's immediate instinct was to cover for the civilian kid. But, seeing the senior hero leaping into action, he instead opted to get his center of gravity as low as possible, grounding himself against the shock to the building and ducking under the spray of water that followed. As soon as the shock dissipated, he immediately sprang to the building's edge in case he needed to catch/fetch anyone, but again Hebiru was faster on the draw. As Hebiru explained the plan going forward, Kupo's attention was divided. On the building's edge, he had heard the sounds of desparation and fear over the raging water and was scanning the street to pinpoint the noise's source. As the order was given to accompany the two civilians across Hebiru's bridge, the small fox's body was moving on its own. Kupo looked back towards the group, meeting Nilmimi's eyes. He saw it, now. What had sparked that déjà vu, that feeling of recognition. With his typical beaming smile, he called out to the hero he saw before him now. "You can do it, Lunara!"
Already in motion now, Kupo also met eyes with Kei and Hebiru in turn. If he timed this right, there was no risk. "Let's go!" Having spotted the smaller building approaching, Kupo made the leap of faith just as it passed to minimise the distance. He was a couple meters short, but Kupo wasn't alone. Seeing the angle, just as he figured they would, the two limbs rushed past him and made contact as he landed. A short hop was all it took to make it to the floating 'platform'. What Kupo hadn't accounted for was the sharp deceleration as the building now had a force holding it back from the water pulling it forward. A couple of the civilians were almost sent off into the water because of this, but quick action helped pull them back.
Now stable for the moment, Kupo assessed the situation. There were about 9 civilians there, 5 adults and 4 children. Looked like a family. 2 of them, 1 of each, were seemingly injured. 1 other almost certainly couldn't walk unaided, being so young. Next, escape routes. The way he'd came was the most obvious solution, but only about half of the people who needed aid could possibly traverse that 2-limbed bridge. The stable building on the other side of the water was the next-safest bet. The top was too far to jump or climb with injured people though, so where?... There! A fire escape on the side of the building facing away from the waves. The stairs were still almost entirely intact, and a little higher up the inside was probably safe as a brief respite while ascending. In a few seconds, Kupo had his strategy.
"Help is here! Anyone able to climb, please head up the bridge to the roof I came from! Quickly! It's safe, and we can catch you if you fall!" With that order, the people seemed hesitant to follow the orders of (what looked like) a child, but urgency would hopefully force their hand. Kupo called up to Kei. "Surplus-sensei! Civilians coming up!" He next turned his attention to the 4 he thought would have most issue escaping from this situation. The two with injuries and another mother-child pair. He took a bit of time to try and calm them down, taking a soothing tone, though stating his reassurance more as if it were fact than hopes. "We're here to help you guys, alright? I'm gonna get you guys out of here, but you have to trust me! See that fire escape up there? It's safe, we're gonna get there!"
After some deliberating, the mother handed off their child, who Kupo took in a piggyback carry. "Ready? We're gonna fly! Hold on tight, okay?" The added weight was almost equal to Kupo's own, but within what he'd trained to carry this distance. He leaped across the gap, landing with a slide to soften the shock on the balcony by the stairs. The door to the apartment's inside was open, luckily. "Yay, we did it! Alright, now can you hide round the corner in there? Let's scare your sister when she comes up!" He quickly made the jump back, and repeated the process with the injured kid. With arms around each others' shoulders, they made the jump. "Hang in there, back soon!" The kid was on the balcony, leaving Kupo hanging on to kick off back back towards the floating building. Alright, now to deal with the adults.
tl;dr- Kupo moved back further onto the rooftop to make space as Hebiru ascended, responding with a simple nod and yip to the nurse's question. - Kupo braced himself, and as Hebiru explained the plan, Kupo heard the floating civis and looked for them. As the order was given to accompany the two civilians across Hebiru's bridge, he started schmovin'. - " You can do it, Lunara!" - Kupo literally leapt into action, landing on the other end of the bridge and making it to the floating civis. - 9 civs: 3 able adults, 2 able kids (going up bridge), 2 injured peeps, mother & super young kid (Kupo's helping). - Kupo called up to Kei. " Surplus-sensei! Civilians coming up!" - Helps the young kid and injured kid up onto a balcony w/ fire escape on building opposite, 2 adults still there awaiting aid. [nospaces] [attr="class","nillyoneword1"] a little lighthouse in your soul
[attr="class","nillyitsover"]
The breeze danced around and about her as she gently clutched the moth child within her grasp...those reflective lime optics gazing out at what felt like an eternity.
[break][break]
One that would continue on for some once the tremendous wave would claim for itself, bringing a means to an end...
[break][break]
Each step she took along, idly using one of her free hands to rest upon the arm offered as a sense of security, her hold gentle...yet sturdy as though to remain cautious bout her own clawed digits. Oh how easy it was to get lost in it all...there were so many things out there and people she would never meet nor grow to understand. Many of which were cruel and some whom were nothing but kind...but gentle individuals who had a tenderness to the world around them were so hard to find. Kindness...people who truly cared and showed it, they were like the precious metals of society...
[break][break]
They were in a state of emergency and...
[break][break]
...she felt useless.
[break][break]
Gently, carefully, like a mother with her child...she ran her hands through the small moth child's fluff...wondering if she was doing just enough. Keeping her little one safe and staying out of the way of the Pro-Heroes around her to take care of things in ways they were trained. After all...the only thing she did was play or portray a hero in the media as a protagonist kaiju, then eventually wrote about them herself...
[break][break]
When it came to reality...
[break][break]
...that wasn't the case.
[break][break]
Part of the older moth woman felt as though they would fine her for letting this moth child who brought her a sense of comfort merely exist. At the end of the day, it was the illegal use of a quirk and these brave individuals could turn against her. Part of her felt shaken to her core that the only people she could count on right now were ones she feared for that reason. Whether or not it was true, it still was a very real fear to her, all she wanted to do was try to live and her moth children were one of the very few things that brought her a shred of happiness. They were the light of her life and it always hurt when they would inevitably leave her side...they didn't last forever.
[break][break]
Selfish...is.....that what she was...?
[break][break]
Slowly turning her gaze as a familiar, feminine voice reached out with a sense of urgency, beckoning to her as she was pulled back into the grim reality of the moment. A soft, neutral frown graced her features as her grip upon the moth child shifted, all as the little one chittered softly as though to soothe the turbulent seas of her soul...
[break][break]
The urgency to protect the life of her moth child was enough to realize they needed to act now.
[break][break]
A sharp breath leaving her as she quickly crouched down, remembering a few of the stunts where their footing was less than ideal for an action shot, trembling slightly as she fought the fear of water surrounding them as best as she could, immediately using three of her limbs to brace herself as the remaining free arm clutched tightly upon the moth child. It was enough to stop her from completely falling when the treacherous wave assaulted the building...but certainly it would get worse. This place was no longer safe...it was a death trap ticking away, awaiting the final moment it crumbled in an effort to stand. Carefully pushing herself back upon her feet, her heart began to race and the moth child chittered softly to assure that they were still safe and she was succeeding at putting forth her best effort...something she needed to acknowledge more often for herself.
[break][break]
Making an effort was better than none, there was something worth celebrating in just that.
[break][break]
Furrowing her brows upon hearing the request of Gorgon, she parted her lips and wanted to say something...but everything was caught in her throat and all she could manage was a shaken sigh. Was...was she capable of doing even that...? The heavy strokes making up this present reality began clicking once again as the horrific fate that wave still presented sunk in at the sight of who she was asked to help.
[break][break]
In a way, it was like looking into a reflection...except they were both having different ways of showing the fear of having their lives snuffed out...
[break][break]
Though it's like a soft crack formed on all the doubt weighing down upon herself...
[break][break]
The gaze of that small hero met her own and...``You can do it, Lunara!``
[break][break]
Tears cascaded down her face as she heard the old stage name she used so many years ago...
[break][break]
How did someone so young know about her...were...they a fan of the old shows, movies...?
[break][break]
There were so many more people who remembered Kamirex and her prominence as the main character, she was nothing more than a support role and hardly any of her merchandise moved on the shelves...no where near as much as Kamirex. Softly choking on the air, pushing herself off the ground as she gently cradled the moth child for a moment. The little one reminding her softly of those days children called her their hero, the times she would get in character for the sake of making them smile and watch the brightness of their souls reach their eyes full of hope.
[break][break]
Hope for a better tomorrow.
[break][break]
A belief that they can be the difference, something so fragile that she'd watch it fall apart herself while cutting herself on every piece she picked up while gluing it back together. Something she could repair for others, but rarely ever herself...after all...it crumbled so soon after. The accomplishment felt like it never lasted forever, but the moth child's soft chitters assured her that those moments, no matter how short, were still important. Glancing back towards Gorgon and then towards the mother and child...she had to fight her own fears...she...she had to.
[break][break]
Offering a solemn nod, silently acknowledging the severity of it all...
[break][break]
Moving the moth child up behind her neck, it curled up against her neck beneath the hood as she grit her teeth while taking a sharp inhale of the salty air all around them. With all four of her arms free, she whispered softly to the moth child, "Hang on tight, my little love..." The soft moth child nodded by nuzzling her cheek and used all of its legs to tighten its grip. Taking another couple of breaths, she watched those around her...especially the little arctic fox boy display their courage and bravery in their own ways. Training her mind to get into character...it was the easiest way to cope right now, think of it as a movie set...think of it just like that.
[break][break]
Moving one foot in front of the other, her wings lightly spread out to aid with the balance....bits of water droplets splashing and causing a stinging sensation to trickle throughout her nerves. Keep it together, keep it in character, she made her way across with care, then held out her hands...her voice was no longer soft. No, there was something more pronounced about it as she tricked her mind to take up the mantle of Lunara once more...or at least the spirit of that kaiju that was written to be courageous, "Come, we're going to live to see many moments beyond this one." Gently, she took their hands, guiding them along as the moth child nestled around her neck beneath her hood chittered softly with a purr as though to mimic a cat calming those they care for.
[break][break]
Although the mother was freaking out, it was a side of herself she despised shining through that woman...so she tightened her grip to keep her moving forward. The little one who accompanied their mother whimpered while looking at the moth-like woman and began focusing on the fluffy, cat sized moth child. "You're so brave, little one." Saying those words in a motherly tone to the child that wasn't her own...part of her wondered how her own child was...but she did what she could to ground herself in the moment of these motions. Thankfully, she was a bit stronger than the average person so she could keep her grip while lightly tugging the mother along to keep her moving. "We're almost there, eyes ahead...focus on me."
[break][break]
Once she and the two fellow civilians managed to make their way, keeping her grip firm to make sure the mother and her child's balance were fixed before they could slip. Getting them across, she stood beside the pair acting as a guardian of sorts. One set of arms dedicated to holding their hands and the other set resting over their shoulders, the mother seemed to struggle to get a grip on herself and...honestly...unfortunately relatable. Right now, everything she was doing to keep it together felt like it was being held together by sturdy glue.
[break][break]
Softly sighing, she noticed something...like...Gorgon was exhausted...tired...? It reminded her of how she felt after pushing herself relentlessly through a performance for the sake of schedules being kept in motion. "Will you be alright...?" Thoughtfully letting those words escape her, she...couldn't help but wonder if many people stopped to ask the pillars society called Pro-Heroes were doing okay. Everyone painted them out to be such invincible beings...but when she wrote them in her stories, she tried to get the audience to empathize that they were only human...hoping to reach their hearts that these individuals maintain their humanity. Maybe it's because she was married to a Pro-Hero, though her mother and father insisted he was out to use her for monetary gain...so she separated from Saturn out of fear that they were right. However, he always showed a sense of love and care, moments of weakness at home from the fear of what if I fail those who look to me to protect them...he....that was something she felt was real.
[break][break]
Something real that other Pro-Heroes must have had to endure, such a burden that many quietly carried...
ulla [newclass=.nillyitsover b]color:#62a181[/newclass] [newclass=.nillyoneword1]transition:1s;overflow:hidden;height:200px;width:450px;[/newclass] [newclass=.nillyoneword1:hover .nillyfromyou1]transition:1s;margin-top:0px;[/newclass] [newclass=.nillyfromyou1]background-color:#2f2f2f;opacity:.8;font-family:arial;font-size:10px;color:#fff;padding:10px;margin-top:250px;width:150px;transition:1s;[/newclass] [newclass=.nillyfromyou1 a]font-family:courier new;text-transform:uppercase;color:#a366b6;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass] [break][break] TLDR! [break][break] Went on autopilot and checked out psychologically to cope with the moment and make it along. [break][break] Crouches down and braces the ground to avoid a hard fall, thanks movie stunts! [break][break] More psychological struggles, genuinely feels like she's looking into a mirror when seeing the mother and child. [break][break] Snaps out of it and has a nostalgic trip over Kupo's calling out to her after Gorgon asked for her help. [break][break] Nods and then gets her shit together, more or less. [break][break] Moth Child is being like a cat and now nestled behind her neck, using all four arms to manage the mother and child to get them across the bridge. Spread her wings to aid with balance, got burned by the bits of water splashing about, but powers through it like a champ due to forcing herself to keep in the character of Lunara, or at least the spirit of it to further cope. Though she feels like that could fall apart. [break][break] Checks on Gorgon to make sure she's doing alright since she sees the signs of exhaustion showing.

Kei joined the small group on the roof as ordered, planting his feet on the surface as soon as he reached it and letting his quarms recede into his pack. Even though he could've stayed suspended on his metal arms, he needed to preserve their integrity as long as possible- who knew how long this disaster could last? The last thing he wanted was to have them break on him in the middle of a mission. He was shivering - the spring air brought little comfort when he was soaking wet - but he gave a thumbs up regardless. "As fine as I could be!" He hoped that was a good enough answer, not wanting to get sidelined due to worries over his condition. At the warning the support student did brace himself, launching two of his quarms beneath his feet to anchor himself in place. He'd take in the stability of the others then, satisfied when he saw they wouldn't fall over due to either their own actions or Gorgon's quick thinking. His eyes caught Snow Fox' and Gorgon's before landing on the apartment as the hero stated her next instructions. "Get everyone there, you got it!"He was about to begin crossing the makeshift bridge when more of the hero's tendrils made their way to something, followed by Snow Fox' leap to what Kei's panicked mind thought was the waves below. He eventually noticed the building the boy landed on, and in turn on each of the civilians grasping on the roof for dear life. God, that was a lot of people. He chewed his lip, his toothpick gone missing when he went underwater. Things just got more complicated. Heroes had to work well under pressure though. He wasn't one, but what choice did these people have really? But neither was that moth woman, his mind supplied. Kei looked at her then as she guided the mother and her child to the apartment. She had to be a civilian - he didn't hear a callsign from her like he did Snow Fox' - but even then she was helping in her own way. What was he doing standing around then? Kei slapped the sides of his head to shake off his thoughts. He needed to act. He made a running start and leapt off the roof as well, using his quarms for that final push to add momentum. His gear would catch his landing as well, claws digging themselves into the roof of the floating building. And also making the civilians there scream at the sight of what they thought was some multi-limbed attacker. Kei raised his real arms, internally cringing at his own actions as he attempted to placate. "Sorry! Sorry- I'm here to help too!" With what exactly? Snow Fox was already calming and carrying the injured across, which left those able to walk left. The boy even called attention to them. Sensei though? He mentioned he was a second year right? But you know what- now was not the time to correct him. He was busy, which meant it was up to Kei to get the rest across. The gap was too wide for his quarms to transfer each person over, and he did not trust himself to jump across with the added weight. Which left the bridge Gorgon made as the only option, weakened as it were due to her splitting her resources. He could try to reinforce what she started. Kei anchored two of his metal arms close to the start of the bridge before extending them, suspending himself over the water awkwardly, as if he were on the end of a fishing rod. Only when he was halfway across did he launch the other two towards the apartment, gripping tightly on whatever could support it. And just like that, the width of the bridge doubled and two handholds were provided instead of one. It meant he was kinda hanging off in the middle off the bridge, legs dangling precariously over the waters below, but he tried his best not to think of that. Instead he called out to the civilians on the floating building. "Okay guys, I'm gonna need you all to cross slowly! Keep your weight even as best as you can!" He could see the wariness on their faces - he couldn't blame them really - but eventually one brave soul tested the stability of the bridge. Seemingly satisfied, they began to walk along it, which convinced the others to do the same. "Yeah, that's it! Keep goin'!" He couldn't help but make a face as he heard his quarms groan under the weight, but there wasn't much he could do about that at this point. He could only hope his contribution was enough to save them all.
OOC: Kei was overwhelmed by the number of people they had to rescue, but snapped out of it when he saw Nilmimi guide the small family across the main bridge. He jumped on the floating building, taking a moment to calm the civilians scared from his entrance before assessing the second bridge Gorgon made. Trusting Snow Fox to get the injured across on his own, he used his quarms to reinforce the second bridge, doubling its width and making an additional handhold at the cost of making himself by suspending himself over the water. Here's hoping the tendrils and mech arms don't get too strained! Kupo Nilmimi Chou Yanai Hebiru Koffee-Kun

The Gorgon WatchesDespite it being her own choice it was grating to have to rely on others knowing that if something went wrong she had no capacity to help. Even now her legs weren't supporting her, not nearly enough mass left in the hollowed out shell of her body to bear her full weight. Only the appendages sprouting out from her lower back anchoring down to the roof below held her up. Yet still, that was not the biggest problem.
No, the biggest problem was that even with her quirk in full effect it wasn't proving to be enough and her persona was not one that would prioritize herself over others. Truly, how troublesome.
Scanning her surroundings with analytic eyes she searched for a solution to her quandary and as she did it was her ears instead that provided a potential solution. She wasn't familiar with the name Lunara but from the way Snow Fox said it perhaps the woman was a former hero. If so there was likely a reason it was former but given Kupo's tone it was unlikely to be due to ethical concerns. Of course, there was the possibility his encouragement alluded to something else but she put that thought from her mind. She could not risk a civilian but should her decisions be questioned requesting assistance from a former Pro would be questioned far less. Yes, plausible deniability was required in this case.
"Thank you for asking, Lunara. I shall be alright. If I may be so rude, could you assist by pointing us in the right direction if you spot anyone in trouble from the vantage point the apartment will provide." By prioritizing the potential former Pro's safety there was little scrutiny that could come Hebiru's way no matter the results. Regardless of Nilmimi's reply she'd refocus on her efforts to keep the bridges in tact and the situation under control, a task that became harder by the second.
Condensed like this her appendages were sturdy, could take hits from the front and broad side but when it came to sustained force applied from the side they were less resilient. She could only hope Snow Fox and Surplus were quick, lest they tear off one by one and the bridges collapse. The floating building dragged along by the current was just about to rip her appendages when Kei managed to reinforce the connection taking some of the strain off her just in time.
Even so the timer was still running. She could practically feel the building beneath her losing the fight against the current as well. Before long it too will be swept away and if they're not clear by then, all of them along with it.
TL;DR: Hebiru's at her absolute limit maintaining the bridges, assures Nilmimi she's fine and asks for help in spotting people in danger. Kei's actions narrowly stop her appendages from being ripped off but the clock is still running what with the building she's on showing signs of being swept along soon too.

Things were going surprisingly well all things considered. The people trapped on the roof were making their way across, slowly but surely, and one by one they reached sturdier ground on the other side. Kei could hear the relief in their voices but he didn't let himself look. He was focused on the remaining few still walking on the makeshift bridge. "You're doin' great guys!" Encouragement was the most he could give from his position, precarious as it was. He tried not to think about how one small shift could send everyone to the depths below. It wasn't working. At least the hero maintaining the other half of the bridge was okay. Or Kei hoped she was and she wasn't just lying to reassure the moth woman. Speaking of though- Lunara? Did the student know her? And Gorgon also knew her? Oh God, was she actually a hero and he didn't realize? There were so many names in the business it was hard to keep track of them all, he was definitely going to apologize once all this was over. A sudden tug followed by a scream pulled him from his thoughts. Someone else's name was called, but it wasn't to inspire or reassure. It was yelled in fear. Agony. Kei turned to look- Only to catch a glimpse of hair before it disappeared under the bridge. Kei's eyes grew wide; his heart lodged at his throat. "NO!" He was close to letting go to catch the person but he stopped himself. It couldn't be him, there were still two left on the bridge. He'll jeopardize both of them if he went after the one who fell. Someone else had to save them. Gorgon- Snow Fox- anyone. He's so sorry.
OOC: Kei tries to be encouraging as the people cross since he can't move from his spot. Lunara doesn't ring a bell and he feels bad about that even though he shouldn't. Someone falls off the bridge which he can't do anything about. He's hoping beyond hope that the others could save them. Kupo Nilmimi Chou Yanai Hebiru Koffee-Kun

[nospaces] [attr="class","nillyoneword1"] a little lighthouse in your soul
[attr="class","nillyitsover"]
Furrowing her brows as she listened to the spoken words asking for her help once more feel as though they were slowly, but surely suffocating her."N-nnn..." Reaching up one of her hands as though reaching for something around her neck that wasn't there, her clawed digits lightly twitching for something. A phantom feeling of a choker, necklace perhaps...
[break][break]
There was no where to run.
[break][break]
`...mom...it's okay, I wasn't meant to live forever...` A soft voice echoed gently as the little moth child shifted to stand up. "D-don't say that...please..." Whispering those words, pleading softly to the moth child, she could feel the tears slowly return as she closed her eyes and took in a deep, shaken breath.
[break][break]
`You...you know I don't have much time left...I want to help these people and I feel like you do, too...` Exhaling softly, she paced her breathing and held all four of her hands together as she felt the parting farewell nuzzle of the moth child's cheek before they fluttered into the damp, humid sky. Sharing her sights with her and ignoring every shred of pain riddling their body from the moisture and gusts surrounding them. `Mom...there's...there's something going on...someone is falling...?` "...i-is there anything we can do...?" `I think so...the nice person who helped us earlier is close, I think he can help...` Fluttering her eyes open, she released all four hands and rushed to the edge of the building, as close as she could without falling off so she could call out to the fluffy, kind hero who helped her gather courage.
[break][break]
Wincing slightly as she felt as though something was grating at her nerves non-stop from her connection with the moth child. "YOUNG ONE--SNOW FOX!" The fallen actress hadn't raised her voice in such a manner in...in years. Gesturing towards the direction where...ah...what was his name...?!
[break][break]
! ! !
[break][break]
"SURPLUS NEEDS YOU, GET THERE, NOW...!" The moth child looked around one last time before tilting their head towards the direction Snow Fox needed to go, sharing what they saw from their high vantage point with their moth mother as they drifted down from the sky. Holding out her arms, she caught the little one and their body which was struggling to merely exist, slowly breaking apart like a dandelion in the breeze. Clutching them tightly within her grasp, it was one of the few pieces in this world that reminded her that she hadn't lost the warmth of love in her heart...
[break][break]
....and it wasn't long before the little one was gone.
[break][break]
Leaving her with a lingering feeling to keep moving forward, no matter how hard it felt...that...she wasn't alone, at least not for now. Those reflective, pale lime optics glossed with tears continuing to glance over so she could respond quickly, seeing if anything needed their further attention. It...it was never easy losing her moth children...yet there was something comforting this time, almost as though this one felt truly accomplished with their moment of existence. They brought her comfort and hopefully they would inevitably pass that forward with saving those who needed it...
[break][break]
Looking at her hands as the remaining particles got taken away from her...the little moth child, their efforts wouldn't fall through...
[break][break]
...not this time.
[break][break]
"SURPLUS...HANG IN THERE, DON'T GIVE UP!" There was...something off about her encouraging tone as she called out to him. Something like someone who just endured a loss, desperately...stubbornly trying to keep themselves sturdy as a pillar, fighting that feeling as though they were cracking, breaking, crumbling and trying not to fall apart themselves. | ★Jason Riviera★ | @crystalprincekupo Location: Kotoku, Tokyo, Japan. | Current Status: Flooding in Tokyo Bay, evacuate to higher ground! Now Playing: Megami33 - Showtime~! With some cooperation, Kupo was able to get both adults (first the casualty, then the mother) over onto the fire escape balcony as well. It was a touch slower than he would've liked given they were on a timer, but that was what this kind of rescue work required. After the first had been transferred over to join the kids, Kupo got a horrible spine-chill, like each one of his delicate and heightened senses were warning him of something he couldn't quite place. Once the mother was on the balcony as well, there was the briefest moment of joy and celebration. It warmed Kupo's heart, and that warmth would have to fuel him for what occurred next. That warning feeling grew stronger, until adrenaline outweighed any sense of comfort or ease. In this moment of animalistic drive then, what thoughts could pass his mind? There was but one sole instinct: be ready, go, run! He tried to give some reassurance or order to the people he'd saved, but all that emerged were soft whines and growls.
Something compelled him to jump backwards, back to the platform even though the last 3 had already departed. In midair, he heard it then. One shout, followed by a crescendo of noise. His mind latched onto the emotion of the sound before his eyes even opened. It was painful in that one moment. He had to focus on something to stop his body reacting to the instinct to flee and hide. Cutting through the noise, he pin-pointed two voices. The first was pained, a single word. "NO!" He opened his eyes and saw the scenario in front of him. One man falling, 2 crossing the bridge. Surplus-senpai was at his limit, unable to help. His strength and resolve would have to be enough. Kupo landed on the platform, only a split second to make a snap judgement. The second was determined, an almost frantic warning. "YOUNG ONE--SNOW FOX! SURPLUS NEEDS YOU, GET THERE, NOW...!" He could not will himself to vocalise his response. 'Yes, I know! I'm going!' He bent his knees as he landed, tilting forward with the momentum into a forwards dive. Lunara-sama and Gorgon-sensei were too far away to save this man in time, and the latter was also instrumental in keeping this floating building where it was for just one more moment, let alone the bridge across the two buildings. Their support and belief would have to be enough. Kupo reckoned that catching the man in the air wouldn't work, both because he was too weak to make the catch and because he had nowhere to land. So, what could he do?
Kupo was in-flight, then he was diving head-first into the water. Blink, and you'd miss the time in-between. With his momentum, there was a short time before the rushing water started to carry him and the fallen civilian along. Kupo put his powerful legs to good use kicking towards the man and then towards the solid surface beneath the water. It was so cold. Kupo could handle the cold, though. What was harder to deal with was the pain. The saltwater burned his eyes and stung the small cuts that dotted his limbs. Despite this, Kupo continued. What other choice did a hero have? Kupo wasn't a hero yet, but the mindset had been ingrained for years now. All that ran through his mind to tune out this discomfort was 'how do I get out of this?' Touching down on something solid, he couldn't see what, Kupo wrapped his arms around the civilian and kicked off with all his strength. This was just barely enough to bring the pair up out of the water and back onto the floating building that was hanging by a thread. He took a few seconds to check if the man needed resuscitation, then a few more to catch his breath.
There was just one step left, now. Kupo was exhausted, the explosive action and repeated danger that he'd pushed himself through to try and save everyone had taken its toll and left him on his last legs (stamina-wise, at least). A growl, high-pitched as his body could not produce a low one, resounded over the air. It was all he could do to motivate himslf, drive up adrenaline and continue on. He hopped on his feet a few times to hopefully communicate the intent to the other, and then with a final effort the pair made it to the same balcony as the rest that Kupo had taken. Kupo spoke then, for the first time since he'd saved the two kids. He shouted, even. "RELEASE!" A command, letting Kei and Hebiru know that they could let go of the now-vacant building, releasing the strain on both. He then escorted the few civilians up the fire escape to the roof, where Nilmimi and the others had been waiting. His steps were slow, and voice softer than it had been, but the smile lighting up Kupo's face shone through. "Thank you... your words really helped me focus." He tried to remember the actresses name, memories of reruns and family watch parties slightly hazy in the details. "You're... Chou-san, right? Sorry, I could only think of your stage name in the moment. I'm a... big fan~" There was a tone of contentedness to his speech, a sound something like purring underlining it. "Oh, and sorry about your... friend... I didn't see what happened, but I saw them in the air! Is that part of your Quirk?" Contrary to Nilmimi's worries about being reprimanded (or worse), there was only a sense of wonder in how Kupo asked the question.
tl;dr - Taking the hobbits to Isengard Taking the two adults up to the safe zone - Gets a Bad Vibe™️ and jumps backwards towards the platform. Non-verbal as instinct takes over. - Too loud for misophonia boy when guy falls, has to focus on two familiar voices calling out - Assesses the situation in midair: -- Bad idea to try and catch in the air -- Dives into water off floating building to intercept instead - Fuck, this saltwater really hurts my eyes and cuts - Holds onto the guy and kicks off the 'floor', going plus ultra with momentum to resist the current. - Back on the platform, visibly exhausted but loud puppy growl to pump himself up. - Makes it back to the safe balcony, tells the bridge duo to "RELEASE!" Escorts civis up onto safe roof. mission_complete.mp3 - Speaking softly and moving slowly, but big smile. Thanks Nilmimi (and indirectly moth child) for the inspiration. - Big fan, asks curiously about Nil's Quirk. Nilmimi Chou Yanai Hebiru Kei Hada Koffee-Kun Taka Yasashi

The Gorgon WatchesThere was a faint ringing in The Gorgon's ears as she maintained the bridges. The civilians rushing across them looked like they were moving in slow motion from her point of view, almost allowing her to look into the future when she saw one of them take a wrong step.
There was nothing she could do for him. Turning her gaze away it was almost as if she could see the entire world around her, visualizing it from a top down view as she attempted to figure out a way to resolve this situation. The first thought that crossed her mind was that she would have to schedule a session with Sadako for both Snow Fox and Surplus, the second that she had to get the others across before she incurred more damage. With an impassive expression on her face she disconnected one of her support appendages, slipped it into her clothes through the bottom of her costume's leg opening and all the way up the back until the point sat just behind her neck, forcefully straightening her hollowed out form up while she addressed the civilians.
"Keep moving. We shall save your friend."
When she spoke them the words were a white lie to keep the pair moving, only retroactively made true by the actions of every member of the trio going above and beyond. Her eyes narrowed when Snow Fox dove after the man. Desperately holding the building in place she knew firsthand how much power was behind the wave and feared the worst, for how could he possibly survive such a thing twice?
The fear was nearly paralyzing. It was her actions that likely got him killed yet she had not even the slightest moment to attempt to save him or failing that retrieve his body, let alone to mourn. As if it were someone else doing it she saw her own arm raise and point towards the apartment. She could see the fear in the eyes of the pair that reached her yet pretended she did not.
"Quickly. The faster you are across the faster we can focus on ensuring your friend safety."
She wondered if the words that spilled out of her throat sounded as hollow to them as they did to her. Seeing a spark of hope light up in their eyes, warring with their shock and fear, she supposed they did not. Her teeth grit feeling her appendages rip bit by bit. Hebiru wondered why she was still maintaining the second bridge, was the spark of hope still alive in herself as well or was she punishing herself for her own failure? Whatever the reason, her efforts were far from enough. No matter what she did the building was gradually being dragged along the wave and speeding up more and more as her leverage decreased.
When Snow Fox resurfaced she found the answer to her question. Seeing him hop in place as if gathering his courage she held out for just a bit longer as well even as her body screamed at her to let go.
"Surplus. Release and regroup."
The moment he did and Snow Fox made his jump her own appendages would let loose as well, shooting back at her like a tape measure with its button held.
"Across, now." She ordered whoever was still near while aiming a single nod at the remaining bridge. She could feel the building they were on crumbling, her stability decreasing by the second. Not everyone was across by the time her footing gave out and the bridge began to tilt. She had to act fast. In the exact opposite way she had recalled the first bridge she let herself be drawn along to the apartment instead, recalling her supporting appendages at the same time to return some mass to her form and manifesting several more from her forearms to wrap around the people still on the bridge in case they lost their footing.
Landing roughly in a tangle of limbs she materialized a thicker appendage from her lower back to pull herself up from the floor of the apartment building like a puppet on a string.
"Everyone, head up the stairs quickly." Her words were punctuated by a splash of water flying in through the broken window. With all but one of her appendages withdrawn she turned on the final one, looking over the devastated city as she wondered how many of the countless lives being lost they would be able to save. With a sigh she turned away from the scene and landed on her feet once more before heading over to the stairs as well.
Every inch of her body hurt as she made her way up step by step, the feeling not unlike when one strained a muscle they didn't even know they had. The Gorgon pushed the bone deep exhaustion and torturous pain down as she came to a stop next to Nilmimi.
"Lunara. Have you spotted anyone else from here?"
Her own eyes scanned the surroundings as well while she stood ready like a coiled snake, her form but a moment's notice away from leaping into action once more at the first sign of danger.
For that was what heroes did.
------
TL;DR: -Hebiru dissociates and guides the remaining civilians across to the apartment, narrowly managing to hold the second bridge long enough for Kupo to jump to the fire escape. -Tells Surplus to let go and gestures for him to make his way across to the apartment as well. -Building collapses beneath her and she has to reel herself in to the apartment, collapsing in a tangle of limbs alongside whoever was still on the bridge -Makes her way up to the next floor and asks Nilmimi if she spotted anyone else, ready to leap back into the fray the moment anyone's sighted.

Kei's eyes stung with how hard he was staring at the water. That was a person. A whole life, extinguished before his very eyes and he could do nothing about it. How many more lives would be lost in this disaster? How many more before this nightmare ended? He blinked when his callsign was spoken, its gusto forcing him to turn to the source in fear of missing something important. His eyes locked on the moth woman above, her words - forced as they were - reminding him that he still had a job to do. He couldn't help but give a strained laugh at her words though, because yeah, there wasn't much else he could do other than hang in there. Kei gave her a thumbs up, acknowledging that yes, he's doing exactly as told. He could tell his gear wouldn't hold for much longer though. It was made to carry the weight of a few people, not compete against waves in holding a building in place. But it was holding regardless; so to that end he'll remain until further instructions were given. Then there was a flash of white that flew in his periphery, and he turned his head to see - it was the hero-in-training! And he had the fallen civilian with him! Kei raised his arms in the air, wholly ignoring how much he was swinging to focus on the relief he felt in the moment. "WOOOO! Awesome job Snow Fox!" He may be putting too much stock in one life saved but he didn't care. Every life had value. Everyone was important. Between the hero-in-training's departure and Gorgon's order, Kei finally released two of his claws from the floating building, and he watched as it continued its journey down the street now that there were no longer any victims riding on it. The support student then made his way up and over the threshold to the apartment building's roof. And promptly collapsed on his back once he reeled in his quarms and his feet touched the ground. Kei hadn't fallen unconscious for the record. He was still wide awake, staring at the sky as his legs had given out on him from the suspension and adrenaline both. He raised one arm in the air as he took in a deep intake of breath. "I'm okay! Just- just give me a sec please." His job wasn't done but surely he could have a break for a minute before they sprung into action for the next group of people.
OOC: Kei hears Lunara's voice and laughs at the irony of her words, giving her a thumbs up at her encouragement. Previously distraught by the drop the civilian endured, he's relieved when he sees Snow Fox resurface from the water with civilian in tow. He lets go of the floating building and climbs to the roof before collapsing on it. He'll be fine, don't worry about it. Kupo Nilmimi Chou Yanai Hebiru Koffee-Kun

[nospaces] [attr="class","nillyoneword1"] a little lighthouse in your soul
[attr="class","nillyitsover"]
There was something about knowing how little one could do in a situation such as this outside of being a cheer leader. If her wings hadn't been lightly damaged from the water and utilizing her quirk....maybe if she was brave enough, she would have put herself on the line further. However, being careless wasn't going to do anyone any favors...so instead, the fallen actress who was always entrapped within the deep, dark forest of her thoughts would work harder to navigate the old path to avoid getting lost any further today.
[break][break]
Whenever her gaze rest upon the water, it wasn't an escape into peace and tranquility...but instead a vast, cold grave. Using the upper set of arms to clutch at her chest...it was like gazing upon someone she knew was a cold blooded murderer. Maybe one day she could come to terms with it beyond I won't let you, carrying on to the next spot when instructed, though at least the spurts of distractions in requiring her attention and focus had a way of helping her. It wasn't perfect, but it was enough...this day would surely find a way to haunt her thoughts in the future...though some of those haunts would be dealt with directly...
[break][break]
Oh how the irony of her words were lost upon her...but at least that young man was hanging in there.
[break][break]
Everyone around her was so much brighter than she could ever dream to be, all she felt is that she was shining bright like a dying star...destined to fade into obscurity in a distant galaxy of memories. Though one who held upon her memory approached her after bravely aiding those who couldn't help themselves in a perfect storm of chaos...
[break][break]
The older woman couldn't help but quietly allow the tears to cascade down her cheeks...the mask she forced on to cope cracking and breaking. She...she helped someone...? Her? Helping someone? The same woman who left her husband to raise a child out of fear of being used thanks to the poisonous words of her mother and father...she, of all people...helped? Furrowing her brows, she wasn't sure how to respond to the young hero who...happened to be a fan of her...
[break][break]
Bowing her head as a silent, humbling way of letting him know that she acknowledged his gratitude...even if she was at a loss for words, herself, in that very moment. A solemn smile making its way across her lips as she lifted her head, carefully finding her words as she spoke to the much shorter young man. Kneeling down as she brought the second set of her arms up, resting her hands upon his shoulders with such care, much like a mother addressing a child she was proud of. Finding her words, even though they tried to run away from her...she managed to share them with Snow Fox, "I...don't meet many fans, but...but I'm glad that the first one I've met in years has a heart as brave and wonderful as your own..."
[break][break]
Taking a moment to breathe, she took care in continuing her words, "..a-and yes, that was my quirk...I..I also wish to express my thanks to you as well. You helped me find just enough bravery to make a difference today..." Gently, she brought Snow Fox into a hug...knowing that this could very well be the last time she sees any of them. Although this was a moment of crisis, she knew the moment that word got out a civilian was using their quirk...there was a good chance the law wouldn't be so kind or welcoming to her.
[break][break]
Releasing the small hero, she stood upright upon hearing Gorgon's request to double check if they missed anyone in need of rescue...she wasn't going to jeopardize these people, no. She was going to face her fears when all was said and done...approach her husband and place her fate within his hands once more. See for herself if he was truly the monster that her parents painted him out to be...
[break][break]
Offering a nod to assure her she heard the Pro-Hero's request, she brought the upper set of arms towards the fluff around her neck and the lower set against her wings, gently brushing the tips of her claws against them...little moths upon moths began fluttering off of her as they took off into the sky looking like fluttering stars as long as their bodies would hold up. All of them providing her with different views and perspectives...it was like a map painted within her mind...and for once, the little ones weren't so scared of their inevitable end...they all knew their purpose was to make sure no more lives were lost today. "Gorgon..um...it appears we've managed to rescue those in this area...I...spotted near by individuals arriving on the scene, a rescue crew. They seem to have things under control from this point." Those words were delivered calmly and thoughtfully. Even though wings were far more tattered than before, stinging ever so slightly...
[break][break]
But that was alright.
[break][break]
They were all safe and she could still move, one foot in front of the other...moment by moment.
[break][break]
Though she carefully strode towards the one who was called Surplus, carefully ripping off her sleeves before bundling them up. Crouching down, she gently lifted his head and placed the bundle of cloth underneath for an impromptu pillow, bowing her head as she spoke, "...thank you for having the strength to keep going, Surplus. You can rest now.." Standing up to her full height, she took in the sights all around her and awaited the new chapter of her life to pick up once they were in the clear.

[break][break] Followed as per Gorgon's instructions [break][break] The irony went right on over her head, there it goes...lost with the wind. [break][break] Sweet lil moment with Kupo, d'awww! [break][break] Nodded to Gorgon, then unleashed a bunch of little moths to overlook the area so she could paint out a sky view to make sure they don't miss a single person. [break][break] Goes to check on Kei afterward and makes him a pillow out of her sleeves so he can have a wee bit of a better rest. Momma moth moment fr. Nilmimi had started crying. She started crying? Kupo looked up at this woman he'd admired so much, clearly touched by his words, and couldn't help but start tearing up too. He didn't know anything of what she (or anyone else) was going though, how could he? Kupo knew the emotion well though. Being unable to process praise, so focused on your flaws or somebody else's brilliance that when your own is acknowledged, you're blindsided by it. He cried as well, then, out of sympathy more than anything. "-a heart as brave and wonderful as your own..." Brave... and wonderful? Nilmimi Chou, someone he'd looked up to as a symbol of mutant self-acceptance and confidence for as long as he could remember, thought he was brave? Thanked him for helping her find bravery? For some that would've been a 'never meet your heroes' moment, but for Kupo it was eye-opening. Entirely shifting his perspective on the matter. He wanted to hear her story, all about her.
Kupo was about to speak up and express this desire, but no sound bar a small squeak could escape him as Nilmimi wrapped the boy in a hug. His body was very briefly stiff, a small backwards motion felt against the embrace and a glint of caution in the eyes, but Kupo quickly calmed down and leaned fully into the hug to return the gesture. It felt great, two very soft people being physically soft together. It felt just enough like a hug from Kupo's mother that when he closed his eyes, he moved without any thought. A small lick on Nilmimi's cheek, just enough to be felt. There was a couple seconds of silence before Kupo's polite and proper brain caught up with his impulsive and friendly body. He just... bad, bad, bad, bad! In a tiny, private voice, he apologised. "Uwah! Sorry, sorry, sorry! I... didn't mean to do that..."
As the hug ends, Kupo looks around, sitting down with his legs crossed. He sees Hebiru and Kei join them on the rooftop, watching both with interest. He saw Hebiru's posture, coiled to strike out like a predator but with intent to save. She looked so tired, but was immediately ready to keep going. It was inspiring, and Kupo rose to his feet himself. He saw Kei, not even a heroics student, stagger onto the roof and crash. He'd done so well! "You were awesome too, Surplus-senpai! Wait, did I say sensei earlier? Sorry about that!" He giggled, not exactly surprised that (non-native as he was), he made such a basic Japanese mistake under stress. Then, Kupo's attention is drawn to the sky as the caulder of green moths ascend into the sky from Nilmimi's fluff. It's beautiful, entrancing. "Woah~" Seeing her Quirk in action truly was a highlight of the day, and he wondered if some of the prettier scenes from the various films she'd appeared in were inspired by it. Wondered if this was why they got less visually striking after she stopped acting.
It was a warm day, all things considered. There was a reason he'd chosen to go to the beach, after all. He was almost dry now, besides his sodden fur, and hopefully the man he'd saved was drying off too. In fact, this lighting was almost perfect for a photo, as Kupo's media training had taught him. A photo! His family would love to see his first rescue, especially when he'd saved Lunara's actress! Kupo walked over to the other three, clearly excited. "Hey, is it alright if I take a picture of all of us? Especially with you, Chou-sama! I'm not gonna post it, promise!" With the consent of the trio, Kupo took a selfie with them all, wearing his trademark warm smile. He wondered then where Yasashi had ended up, how he was doing. Kupo hadn't seen him floating in the water, so hopefully that meant he'd see his friend back at Noblebright House later. "Looks great! Thanks, you guys!" After a short time, the civilian family they were sharing the roof with (or at least the kids) wanted to take a picture with the young hero hopeful too, to which he gladly obliged. This feeling - the elation and gratitude saturating the air after a successful rescue and the feeling of being able to save lives - it was everything. He wanted to feel it forever. So, he thought, he couldn't give up now. He had to be a hero.
tl;dr - Sympathy tears - Brave and wonderful? In my heart? It's more likely than you think. - The warmest hug! Initially (noticeably) spooked, but quickly leans into it. - Tiny lick. Wait, I'm not supposed to do that! Sorry! - Break hug, sees Kei, "you did great, too!" - Marvels at pretty caulder of moths as Nilmimi uses Quirk - Takes photo with everyone - Wow, saving people feels great, I'm gonna chase this high!
