| Leonard blinked slowly. So the moment she needed to go the extra step she backed off? For his sake...or because she actually wasn't able to harm someone else for real. He had hardly been pushed to the brink. Hell he didn't do much but run around a bit and then just...nothing?
Perhaps he had been too passive. He should have seized the initiative. Force an engagement. Still, this was a glaring flaw of the lady. Clear as day.
"I would like to ask you a question." He stated, slowly, still fully clad in his shiny black suit. "Were people in actual danger. Were the conditions of your situation such that you would have to harm one to save another... would you do so? Those... 'overkill' methods you speak of. Would you use them, knowing full well they can cause permanent damage or disfigurement? Or death to your enemy?"
He hummed, stepping close to check the bandage out of curiousity. He folded his arms to his chest with a light squeak. "I see your quirk also harms you. By stopping, you have caused damage to yourself without getting anything in return. You wouldn't be able to fight like you did at the beginning. Meanwhile, your opponent would just take that moment to win. There are no half measures in a fight."
He remained quiet for a few more moments, before turning around and snapping his black suit away in a wisp of smoke. He wasn't really there to berate someone. He had said his piece, exercise was done. He began walking away, stopping only to look back so he could add one last thing. Probably the only guy who could actually speak from experience.
"People like me have nothing to lose and everything to gain by killing heroes. We don't care about others anyway. Killing someone makes your soul heavy, true. However, regret is heavier still."

| Leonard hummed lightly at the other's comment. So, she was a tinkerer of sort. One of those people who like to just build stuff. Or maybe someone who perhaps built stuff too much for their own good. She then actually followed him around all the way to the training field. Well look at that. she really meant things. It was then she asked if they were going to train by sparring. The white haired smirked.
"No. My quirk is far above the norms. While people have me wearing suppressors, my quirk can kill you. Or, at least, cause severe bodily harm if fought head on." He stated dryly. Perhaps she was the one of the most boastful confident ones. If she pushed on with the one versus one, he wouldn't streess the problem any further. Some people learn the hard way, by banging their head against a wall till they stumble into the answer. "I was about to do some kind of routine as per usual, but with you here I can't really do things the way I normally do. I can't... really ignore you and focus on my own things."

| Leo was definitely feeling the impact of the heat, but he was considering how to escape and weather the storm. He felt the heat wave waft through the tunnel, so she had spotted the hole. She planned to cook him alive, but that stategy would stop working soon, he made sure about that.
He quickly found a side room inside the tunnel, one used for maintenance. He quickly forced the lock open and hid inside, slamming the door behind him and sealing it with some of his darkness. Light still work and the heat was coming only from a single location, one he could keep sealed with enough effort.
From there, it would be a waiting game. See who burned out first. The heat manipulator or him. It was an unconventional strategy and kind of a far cry from his usualy tactics. In the old times he would have started destroying the whole place to get her, but he was trying to think like a proper hero. Not because he wanted to play fair with her, he very much did not want to, but because he was trying to better himself. Tried to be like her.
Like Skald.
Either way, this bout was reaching its end soon. One way or the other.

| At last, the opponent presents herself. Leonard now did have a choice. He could risk it and go to the finish line... or he could send a message. He didn't care about winning or losing at this point. He just wanted to make a point. A point that said on thing very very clear.
He created a platform above him and trampolined himself onto the ground. He would roll on his shoulder to stick the landing and slid around to face the incoming lady.
Leo took a heavy stance as he reabsorbed almost everything into his suit. "You don't fight like a hero..." He mumbled, reaching back and balling his right hand into a fist. "You fight like a showoff without patience."
He released his punch and the energy he had gathered into a single point, creating a wide-spanning attack that would be for sure hard to dodge. If she remained hidden he probably would have had a hard time hitting her, but with the lady in hot pursuit, there was no way he could miss.
The shockwave of the punch exploded most of the windows it came into contact with as it barrelet towards its intended target. He wasn't aiming to kill, but the blunt force would be more than enough to hurt a fair bit. It was meant to smack her good, get her off balance. That alone would give him time to cross the line.

Leonard huffed slightly. He trembled. He just suddenly dropped the remains of his ice cream so he can hop in Skald's lap. He would wrap his arms around her neck and bury his head in her shoulder. He hugged and hugged and hugged tight. He remained there for a good few minutes of just... letting everything she said, everything she was, sink in. He would eventually let her go, but sit down in her lap all quiet, looking down at himself.
"...okay. Okay." He mumbled at her, hugging again. Embracing something so fluffy and so soft made him feel much better. It was comforting and warm. Something he didn't quite have back then. "Okay. You win. But I'm gonna be real mad if you leave me alone like the rest after...playing with my emotions like this."
He didn't know how to go about...well. Doing this. He never really leaned on someone before and he was basically submitting himself to the person responsible for his incarceration...yet it was also the person who somewhat freed him. He could try, but he would probably need alot of help from Skald.

| The white haired youth was quick to notice that some of the chain coming at him were sloppy. Looking down below in the midst of his evasive actions. He was seeking to find a correlation bewteen the things popping into being and shining from somewhere.
He did spot something sometimes, but not always. Still, he noticed that the sloppy ones were not accompanied by any blinking light. More intel. The blinking light below would mean she was creating things, but she could also create out of his line of sight. But the things created without line of sight between the two were sloppy and easily avoided.
He found her weakness. That gap in her precision would be her own undoing.
With not much time left, Leo flung himself back down from his higher position, drammatically reducing his altitude but keeping himself still far above ground. He would quickly create more platforms for himself to trampoline off of, but also wires between buildings to rapidly change direction and avoid the incoming chains. He would make sure to keep an eye out for the telltale blinking that heralded more energy attack, making sure to reposition and always try to put something between him and the origin point of the nuisance.
There wasn't much time left, but the goal was getting closer and closer and he was sure this new strategy would prove to be much more effective than taking a gamble on a one on one as he originally planned. |

| As figured by the white haired ex villain, the guy he was fighting was slow, predictable, and naive. The next few moments would give Leonard even more information on how to outplay his opponent. First, he chatted about not being able to create fire, feeding intel about himself directly to the enemy. Judging by the cringeworthy grinning and showboatiness, it was clear he was not lying. To disperse clouds he used some kinda energy, which Leonard quickly figured it was what he could do instead of breathing fire.
And then the idot made the most insane blunder of all and jumped down to his level. Did he not LITERALLY see his dark energy spread around the room? Did he not just avoid an attack coming at him from that very same room? If he was willing to risk jumping straight in a very obvious disadvantageous position just to punch him then it had to mean the guy had some tricks to show in hand to hand combat.
Which meant that from that point onward Leonard would adapt to force the guy to remain at a distance as much as possible. Moreover, he would force him to engage on his terms. The darkness clad youth may be sloppy and not have proper fighting form, but he certainly had learned to fight strategically.
The moment the guy's feet touched the shadowy energy coating the floors walls and half of the now destroyed ceiling said energy would start behave the same as superglue. Wispy hands made of pure darknes would shoot up and latch around thigh, knee and foot, dragging the guy's momentum down as he began charging in a straight line. Under normal conditions he would have just created a floor of spikes and let the guy impale himself. To be on the safe side though, more dark tendrils would shoot up and grasp at the dragon's arms to immobilize them or at the very least try to restrict movement as much as possible to avoid more energy punches.
Not wishing to play "Alé Toro!" with the guy coming straight at him, Leo quickly rebounded from the far wall to the left wall and further to the opposite wall, giving the opponent a wide berth just to stay clear of the tail's natural range. Touching up on the opposite wall from where he started, he once again used his energy as a trampoline to instead ascend to the floor the guy jumped down from. The one with the bomb.
His plan did not change much after being told the guy wasn't breathing fire. The sprinkler system was going off still, drenching everything in water, and that was the beginning of Leo's strategy against his opponent. He just had recalculated his plan to instead make sure he could use the intel he got from the CCTV for a mind shattering conclustion to the exercise. |

| As he was slamming into concrete a little harder than what he expected, Leo was reminded why he hated light quirks. Took the wind out of his sails for a moment and he was happy he was wearing his darksuit, otherwise that hit would have been lights out already.
Still, taking the hit didn't completely waste his time. He gleaned two things. First she did dodge, but from the way she stared at him and didn't even seem to acknowledge the glass told him she was more focused and reacting based on his movements. He should start moving much more erratically to compensate. He wasn't quite as practiced in the punchy business so he wasn't going to risk it.
She switched up her strategy as well, stopping her attack to go for a more indirect way to incapacitate him, which struck him as odd, but did give weight to his earlier illusion hypothesis. Maybe he really hit the max range.
As soon as he felt the singing heat increase around him, he decided to change up his strategy and be a little more proactive. He would test some things, but first he had to take care not to have his blood boiled in his body. He quickly created a dark spheric shield around him out of energy, only for quick enough for him to blow a hole in the ground and actually drop down to the subterran level. That meaning the mock underground. Less fire, less heat and more over, cool nice darkness he could use to his advantage. If she still wanted to punch him, then she would have to pursue him there where he would have the upper hand field wise.
He didn't sit still obviously, he would instead start running through the tunnel towards the place the two first started. He thought he saw a building he could really use against her. The way you beat light is simple if you have the right tools. Sometimes you could completely deal with the problem with just smoke and mirrors...

| Leonard would quickly start moving again as soon as the light objects ceased to be. He needed to regain initiative and no allow his now-opponent a single second of respite. He would leap off the high place and create more platform to rebound off of.
He was also onto a different plan. He was on the lookout for shining isolated things. He was baiting out an attack again so that he could locate the lady and hopefully deal with her. She wanted beef, he would give her beef. It was just a shame he couldn't really fight the way he was used to. Having to hold back to not really harm the other person was hard and it threw him off. He wouldn't have to consider the impact of his moves, just how to make them count and how to properly land them for maximum effectiveness.
In either case, he was sure he was going to bait either more chains or other constructs as the lady was dead set in not letting him get to the end of the field. Perhaps he could hit her just as hard as to incapacitate her through pain instead of other ways. Though, he didn't know how much she could actually take. Her hit and hide strategy was sending him signals. She didn't seem to be sturdy.
Either way, he would force her hand to reveal her position so he could engage her properly or he was just going to get to the end of the play area and be done with the exercise as he told her. In both cases the suit around his body tightened as he braced for incoming fire.

The fox had a point and it pissed him off to no end. She kind of half agreed to his request as well, which he couldn't complain either. Leonard just decided to still be a hardass for the moment and just sit down in front of the kitsune with a pout on his face. He just focused on his ice cream for the next few minutes. He wasn't as fast as Skald when it came to consuming food. Interesting to see she did not get a brain freeze there seeing as she basically smothered her face in the icecream and it was gone in seconds.
"At least I had purpose." He would aswer the question. "And I had a goal. A goal that now I can't really follow anymore and it's not like the whole learning to save people was my idea. Was more of a do this or rot in a cage, framed as a new opportunity at life." He would say. "...Thanks for the icecream anyway."
From there, he would just focus on finishing up. Occasionally eyeing the hero before him.

| Leonard would not let those chains take him that easily. As one snagged him by the ankle after he weasled away from the mass assaulting him he would quickly morph part of the energy covering his arm into a vice, slamming it into the side of a building and grinding him to a stop.
Okay focus. Elaborate. Opponent advantages: Light based quirk. Can create things detached from the body. Constructs have high range of independence from the user. His own quirk was artifically suppressed by the government.
Possible weaknesses: Preset orders. Possibly high maintenance. They have to come from somewhere.

Leo was quick to dispose of the chain rather painfully pulling on his shins with a new plan in mind. Emitters are always the point of origin of the quirk. Hence, while these constructs could float about unconnected, making them would no doubt expose the user. Given they are made of light and not of darkness, it would basically shine a beacon of light saying: "I'm here kill me."
That could explain why the lady was hidden when attacking. Leonard quickly pulled himself up, wall running for a few couple steps until he could platform his way to the top of the skyscraper.
If she was the origin point, how did she know his position? She must have visual contact with him.He needed to force her to make a mistake or simply draw out the fight until she tired out, but that was not the ideal option given the time limit... which was likely set taking in consideration her own stamina. Alright then. Bait and switch it is...

| And the opponent shows itself. Leo immediately took note of that first forced exchange. They guy was, as expected, an impulsive showoff. Thankfully, he caught glimpse of some funny stuff coming his way from flicking the cctv in the lobby and was ready to get away from the rubble. On the plus side, he already had more info on the guy. As expected, someone who looks like a dragon would have some kind of fire breathing analog. And if he just punched his way open then he would do well and force the guy to fight on his terms and avoid hand to hand. He could take hits, but he was not gonna chance it.
In any case, the safest way to deal with it was to assume he was indeed a fire breather and react accordingly. He expanded his reach along the walls, bathing the area in darkness as it spread from his feet. Large spikes instantly jutted out from down below the moment the guy spoke his second to third word as Leonard had easy confirmation of his target's location from the glowing and the voice, even when dust and rubble was still to settle. A shame he couldn't aim at vital organs and just impale the guy. If he wanted to waste time speaking it would give him more openings to attack.
Using the mess the opponent created, Leonard exploited the dust obscuring his position to throw an elbow into the wall, cracking the fire alarm and forcing the entire building's fire sprinkler system to go off and douse everything in cold cold water. It was unpleasant fighting wet, but better wet than on fire. Just to be sure, he kept mental mind of the hydrants outside. He could roughly guess the layout of the pipeline. Just in case he needed even more water.
Naturally, he would quickly find a way to reposition. He wasn't going to stand in one place for more than a few seconds once spotted. Attack, move, repeat. |

| So, how to go about this.
He could not kill the oppoent, he could not destroy the bomb. Honestly it seemed like this entire thing was offering pretty limited choice of action. It was like it was pushing people to fight eachother. If they wanted that, why don't just oversee a sparring match.
Leo considered that technically he could really just not care about the other guy and focus on the actual objective. They simply said he couldn't destroy the bomb. They did not specify he couldn't just dispose of it through other means. Looking around, he would actually decide to walk around the skyscraper at first and get an idea of the area around it. He would also look for any underground stops. They were fake obviously, but it would indicate there was an underground he could use for his plan.
Once that was done, Leonard would make sure to check the lobby from outside just in case the bomb as really at ground level, then move in. He wasn't going to look for a way up yet, he was more interested in seeing if the people who built the playground had actually replicated the CCTV network an establishment as big as this should have as a common security measure. He could use it to locate the bomb without exposing his position. |

"I'll be honest. There are probably better friends for you out there. You seem...nice. You could probably be pretty popular too. Consorting with me is gonna get you in trouble, bullied by someone or just generally ostracized the same I am." He stated. Not that he was at the very least a little interested in the whole ordeal but he would rather avoid unnecessary attention. He already had alot on his plate. It was funny she thought he was here by choice and it was more because he had been forced there on some kind of rehabilitation program, but he did not bother to think about proving her wrong or explain his situation. "People won't stop talking about me either and I don't care much for trying to change public opinion. I'm not exactly a saint and honestly at this point I'm just trying to live day to day without problems."
He paused and glanced around. Couple people already staring. Which meant that conversation was done, before more gossip spread about. "If you really want to deal with me, then I guess you can come train with me outside. If you care, anyway." |
