| Hey, he tried something new at least! Progress! Leo didn't consider the other guy would get kicked on purpose to catch his leg. He would have wiggled himself free, but the gel coming from behind him had him otherwise preoccupied. No weird sticky blue goo in his perfectly dry white hair. Having to cut the thing before it would get stuck in him however forced him to allow the other guy to chuck him on the floor.
"No. Usually I just kill people I fight." Leo said, remaining on the floor just to see the followup from the other guy. The difference in quirk control was clear cut, as usual since there wasn't anyone else but Jack to be able to match him blow for blow. He was kind faster too, so at this point it was more of a metter to see if the guy had enough strategy to make something happen.
"I mean, if you don't want me to help you and just beat you up I can do that. Explaining things to someone who doesn't want to listen is a waste of time. " |

Jack Orion | "Yeah I'm fine. It's just like doing a pullup for the first time. It's kind of hard at first but it gets easier with reps. You just focus on going ham. I'm working on something that can help you fight something more... entertaining."
Leonard ran a hand in his hair and smirked lightly. "That is, if your lizard butt ain't scared of letting me get a little more intimate with how your powers work." Causal or not, Leonard was always sure to throw a jab out at the other prodigy. Big dum lizard needs his motivational little talk afterall.
Leonard then be worried about focusing on the part of him that was currently piggybacking another's body. That is to say, he was focusing his senses to feel how Jack, now equipped with a very sizable portion of his power, was moving around and well, hopefully, fight. He needed to commit as much as he could to memory. Every hop, every jump. Every muscle tension. He needed to make sure he knew how to go about for the next step of his plan. Well, technically he didn't quite figure out how to become a proper surrogate, but one thing at the time. Besides, this wasn't totally done in selflessness mindset. If he could steal a little thing or two from the other youth it would help him in the long run. Couldn't afford to get himself left behind.
No. Leo pretty much still much wanted to prove himself superior of the student with the tail too big for him to wave around. |

It was then that the white haired boy jumped up, the moment he heard something reeling in. There was a wire or some thing attached to the weapon, was she trying to hook him up on a fishing line? Did she think he would be that stupid?
"Oh, so you're the sneaky kind of slippery little shits." Leonard grumbled, creating a globe of dark that he would then lob in the air. If she really wanted to fight him then he would not hold anything back. First order of business, the glob in the air would explode in a shower of spikes, much like a grenade made of needles. Another two would be thrown, with the express intention of having the girl dodge into the black sludge on the floor, where it could shoot up in the form of shadowy hands and trap her like a big glue trap.
"Something tells me I shouldn't get close to that weird contraption you wave around. Real go go gadget pain in my ass." Leonard would add, taking mental note that at the moment he had a clear advantage from someone wielding a melee weapon. He was now sure there would be some other kind of mechanisms in there that could make his life very annoying.

| Alright, now that was something new that he could at least give some attention to. He was super bouncy, perhaps he could modify the viscosity and elasticity of the gel he created. Similar kind of manipulation to his own, but vastly inferior. Well, not inferior and more... crude. The guy lacked the sheer adaptability Leo possessed, then again it was normal for a kiddo who actually handn't really fought seriously more than once.
"Now that's a better way to use your stuff. The fact you secrete it from your body instead of creating it from nothing is kinda gross though." Leo stated, still analyzing the opponent. He was always a tactical mind when it came to throwing hands. From the reactions he was being given, well, it was clear that the guy in front of him was easy to manipulate through some light dissing. "Still..." Once again a frontal assault. Didn't he just tell the guy that wouldn't work? Like... a minute ago no less.
"Not good enough." Leonard slid a leg backwards to kneel under the incoming arm and connect one of his gloved hands to the charging opponent's lower gut. He didn't even need to put much force to smack hard enough to sting. If he actually put some weight into the strike it could have hurt alot more most probably.
"Are you angry at me because I told you the truth?" Leonard stated, spinning his body around to kick the opponent away.
"I told you frontal attacks wouldn't work. I can see them coming. Try something else or we are done here." He curtly demanded. If the guy couldn't actually fight like a proper hero then there would be no point to the whole spar in the first place.
"How about we time out for a moment yeah? Cool your head down a bit so we can leave that self destructive temper tantrum you are doing behind and perhaps actually get in some proper training." |

The boss theme is playing now, little fox.
| Leo of course, was already anticipating echolocation. That was the very first things many people tried to do when faced with the realization that their sight would be impaired.
There was a sudden cachophony of many weird thunks and other metal on metal, then suddenly the entire place started squealing. Leo had just forcefully triggered as many car alarms as he had within range. Given that they could go on for hours and were kind of pretty grating, there would certainly be some nice disturbance to interfere with the high pitch noise he heard rising from where his opponent was. Reaching over to his own ears, Leo's hands molded some of the black goop into a pair of ear covers. While he couldn't just filter out the bad noise, he could reduce it until it was a non issue for him.
He could kind of understand the other guy was on the move, but not the reason why they hadn't attacked. Nevertheless, Leonard Von Kaiser didn't need much invitation to attack someone.
With a snap of his gloved finger, Leonard sprung his domain into action. From this point onward, a spike would immediately shoot out from any spot that was not touched by himself. That would for sure put a damper on enemy mobility, given he could control a whole city block worth of dark stuff. That and he would kind of be forcing the guy to keep on the move. The longer they played the floor is lava, the more stamina they would burn. And once a star's fuel runs out it dies and gets swallowed by the eternal dark.
Now, let's see how the little kiddo dealth with this kind of approach...

| A flick and the strands of gel connecting the fists to the user were severed in blistering, out of the world speed. There were very few moments where Leo actually used his quirk to boost his own personal speed, but this wasn't much of a necessity and more as a way to make a point. Leonard wasn't scared to meet the boy head on, given the massive difference in their speed if he were to apply himself a little bit.
"And that...is your limit, Kenta-san. Hesitation." Leo stated, taking the boy's punch head on as it smacked flat against the black of the suit covering his chest. It had some power to it, that he had to concede, but compared to someone like Jack and his punches, this one felt like a wet noodle. "Hesitation. That is what kills you in a fight. What lets others around you get killed too. I'll be brief, in case you don't know, and I am not going to sugarcoat it. I'm a Villain. I have taken lives and to be honest I wouldn't pretty much give a damn about saving people if it didn't shorten my sentence. From where I come from it's always been kill or be killed, if you don't think for yourself you're going to end up broken in a ditch." He explained, as tendrils shot from the ground to latch onto the other boy and pull him into a bind, arms and legs splayed open. Leo tapped the tip of his sword to Kenta's heart.
"Impulsiveness also does you no good. Get your head straight. This is not an anime. Screaming or flashbacking during a confrontation will get you killed if your quirk doesn't let you gain power from doing both those actions. You need to be able to take a life to save another, because the guy on the other side is going to do the same thing to save his own. Everything you do needs to be accounted for. Especially when fighting someone who's clearly stronger than you." Leonard flicked the sword away, having it melt back into the floor. A fisticuff against Kenta wouldn't be something he would learn from. What Leo was after was his opponent's quirk manipulation. Their powers were similar. He wanted to push the boy to use his quirk, perhaps he could get some inspiration from it. He snapped his fingers once and let the guy go.
"You are standing on my quirk. The reason you haven't lost your legs yet is because of my mercy in your regards. You also decided to just rush head on without ascertaining if your opponent's speed is higher than yours. Once again, you were not harmed due to my mercy in your regards. In short, I find this display of power pitiful. If this is all you can do, you're so beneath me it would be considered bullying for me to even try to seriously attack you." Leonard concluded, glancing at the gel he neutralized.
"You can make that jelly into anything yes? Then pray tell why are you making something you already have? You can easily punch and kick with your bare body. Your quirk should be used to make something you cannot archieve on your own, either to cover your blindspot or to augment what you can do in a diverse way from your basic shit. For example, why don't you protect your body from harm? You can't save a thing if you get instantly killed." Leo tapped his suit to show as an example.
"Now, stand back up and we go again, but this time I'm not fighting a shouty anime wannabee kid but someone who is training to become a Hero. Think. Adapt. Overcome. Simple as. You're surrounded by something harmful and your opponent has the advantage over your current position. Your current goal should be to turn the situation around to where you have a favorable matchup against me. Now meet expectations, or end up like the rest of those who failed me. Forgotten graves in a cemetery." |

Jack Orion | Leo didn't mind being grabbed, he didn't feel any pain by it. It did make him very curious about Jack's tail again. So he could use it to grab stuff, and it moved pretty quickly despite the size.
"Does touch on it bother you? Strange. Last I know your sister is pretty okay having her tails hugged or poked. They are very fluffy all things considered. Besides, it's not like I'm harming you. I'm just trying to... understand some things." Leonard replied as if nothing was wrong in the most curt tone possible. Well, he was always curt but perhaps this time he was curt-er?
*poke*
A light, very very gentle touch once again. Then the bou seemed satisfied with his findings. He was released and then Jack said a bunch of things that actually broke Leo's serious expression and had him slightly puzzled for a few moments. Then came an answer delivered once again as if it wasn't much of a big deal at all, as if it should be already be taken for granted.
"If you want to go on a date with me you can just ask me instead of implying. You are kind of good looking and I do like the color of your scales, plus so far you're the only one who managed to actually be interesting enough to look into a little bit more. Perhaps you boast a little too much, but outside that your personality is something I don't mind being in the presence of. Right now I was more focused on training and quirk talk but sure, we can go grab something to eat after."
Just like that. No pushback, no nothing. Leo simply agreed to spend more of his day for Jack specifically and take him out to dinner. If it was a dating proposal, it was probably very anticlimactic. Though it showed one thing, Leo actually genuinelycared enough for Jack to entertain the though of spending time together. Considering how introvert and lonely the guy was on the regular, perhaps Jack scoring a date? Hangout? With the Little Devil was actually a big W.
As Leo's hand was finally grabbed and held, the white haired teen took a few deeper breaths. The black suit around his body started bubbling lightly before losing form and turning into an amorphous mass of pure black.
"Huh. This is a little more difficult than I had anticipated. I need you to hold still for a couple moments." He ordered, as the black mass suddenly started moving, latching onto Jack's arm, the one holding hands with Leo, before travelling further up. In a matter of seconds Jack's body was coated with black, the same black that minutes prior was hugging Leo's body. It felt slightly cold as it kept wrapped around him.
Leo let go of Jack's hand and huffed lightly, his dark energy quickly solidifying again, this time around Jack's body. The dragon mutant was now wearing the selfsame dark suit he had seen Leo wear during his fight. The material would feel slightly rubbery and very elastic as it snugly hug his form from neck to feet like a compression shirt, all the while leaving space on the back for his tail to safely poke out. It did not restrict nor impeded movements. So far just felt like a normal bodysuit.
Leo had to take a moment to sit down, looking actually quite winded. There was something special about that particular creation compared to any other thing he created with his quirk, he didn't ever need to strain that much to do something.
"Oof, okay... getting you fully enclosed in armor is a no for the moment... i need to figure out how not to burn so much stamina. Wearing my suit should do for now." He said between breths, before waving his hand at Jack, shooing him away towards the training bots. "You can go the simulation again now... man I need a moment to concentrate. You can go ham though, use as much of your quirk as you can."
He laid down on the floor with a sigh, swiping off some sweat too. |

| Leo did not usually reply to emails. He did not really do much outside of glancing at them. Most of them were anonymous spam. Then one day, someone wrote their need for beef with him and said the magic word.
Jack.
Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. He hadn't replied to the email, but he had showed up as requested. The guy was... small. Smaller than Jack. But he was his cousin, so there would probably be some kind of substance under there somewhere. Another mutant too, so he wasn't lying. Maybe. He didn't look too much like jack, but he did have the same hair color.
He was partly curious to see if there was someone else around that could challenge his superiority like Jack could. That could push him like he could. That could kill him like he could. It was the only way for Leo to get stronger: A worthy opponent.
Leonard stopped across from the guy like as if it was a cowboy duel. He stared silently at the guy yapping. Spewing the same kinda bullshit he had heard a bunch of other idiots say. A snap and he already wearing the jet black suit he was known for. Snowfox wouldn't even be able to finish the phrase about terrain advantage that a sea of black shot out from under Leo, instantly flooding the ground in black tar, washing past the young fox to carry on further, spreading in a wide area on the ground, then up the fake city and high in the sky, trapping the poor mutant in a dome made of Leonard's dark matter.
The sheer range of Leonard's quirk making immediately apparent it would be futile to try and run before the dome fully formed and plunged the area in the dark. A single move that made a clear statement... and annihilated the so called advantage Snowfox was so brazenly boasting about. Brazen of him to treat this as if it was a run of the mill sparring match. Brazen of him to ask Leonard to not hold back.
Jason was now trapped in Leonard's domain of absolute darkness, where only the brightest stars had the power to shine and not be snuffed out. The floor felt sticky and gooey, cold and very unsettling. Within that zone every inch of concrete had been covered in dark matter. If Jason had done some research with his draconic cousin, he would know that Leo pretty much recreated the conditions of his first bout with Jack.
It would now probably dawn on the foxy contender... that the ex-villain never had any intention to hold back... he intended to show him the same courtesy he showed Jack, should he fail to prove himself capable: a swift death.
"Jack's cousin, huh~?" Leonard said, slowly transitioning into his fighting stance.
And when you stare into the Abyss, the abyss stares back... live and let die, fight start!

Jack Orion | Leo's expression flattened at the innuendo. He guessed he should have expected someone like the dragon to go for it. Then came the other part of the conversation. The one he was actually interested in.
"Is it useless because you can't use it or because you don't know how to use it? My quirk is naturally weak to yours, yet I was able to go around that by applying it differently. Perhaps you should try to find different applications. Energy isn't always destructive." Leonard fired back, before his gaze went back to Jack's tail. He waddled to the dragon's side, reached out with a hand and...
*poke*
A light, very very gentle touch. Then a pause and a hum. Leo was still trying to figure out how he would move around with so much weight always trailing behind him. Perhaps that explained why he was faster than Jack.
"You do have a point, somewhat. A quirk is just one side of you, and effective training is supposed to train the whole of you." He would conclude, moving over to the dragon's right side to see what kind of settings he was inputting to make himself go faster. Remaining in contemplation for a few more beeps of the control pannels, Leo looked back up to his... Friend? Rival? Acquaintance? Did he even entertain the thought of wanting to be better than him? "Hm. I wanna try something. Run the program like earlier. Before you do though..." He chimed, extending a hand towards Jack... intending for the Dragon to grab it, provided Jack trusted Leo enough of course. Though, much like their current conversation, Leo's intentions appeared nothing else but genuine, without an ink of ill intent. |

| A sea of black instantly shot out from Leo, encompassing pretty much the whole field. As stated, Leo's mastery of his quirk and its overall potency was not understated. For the moment, the dark energy served as nothing more as having both boys standing on some sort of shiny black mirror. Yet the message behind it was pretty clear: Leo's attack range was massive.
"Tell me, Kenta-san. Have you ever been out in the field." Leo inquired. This kid was good natured, he could tell, but perhaps he wasn't quite ready for what he was really asking of him. "Have you ever fought a Villain, or a close second." He would add. Perhaps the guy also didn't hear the news about his probation and his past as an actual villain, as well as his scuffles and ultimate defeat against Pro Hero Skald.
"The thing that people say, that's it's not like training it's true, but it's more of a white lie to protect kids in training from caving in from the pressure. Everyone quickly understands once they get a run in with real combat, but it's kind of crude to traumatize young people with the truth." Leonard extended an arm to the side, hand open. An all black sword slowly formed from the energy coating the floor, raising upwards so that the white haired youth could grasp the hilt and brandish it with ease.
"The truth is that when you're out there, you need to keep going until the threat is over. In short, you need to be ready to take lives. Can you do that Kenta-san? Can you take a life?" Leonard concluded, resting the blade in his grasp to his side. |

Farrin | Leonard hummed lightly. "I, personally, find the whole Hero and Villain thing pretty... antagonistic." He would say. "At the most basic point of view, there are just people who use their powers to challenge the status quo, and others that use it to preserve it. Who's the hero and who is the villain can change right quickity split, like history shows time and time again."
A pause.
"I'm on probation, which you may already know, given that word about me pretty much spread all throughout campus just a couple of days after my arrival. Though, I'm not here to tell you an edgy sob story." Leo leaned in against the dark wall, showing that he had no particular ill intention towards the guy, but was quite interested in their private chat within the void he created.
"That would make me a Villain, or well. Ex-Villain I suppose. From what you say, you make it sound like criminals intentionally go out of the way to harm others. Some psychopath may do that, but have you ever stopped to consider that most of "my kind" would rather get things done without having to fight some neon nerds in spandex suits?" Leonard wasn't exactly pointing the finger, but having been on both sides, he could quickly spot the hypocrisy of the whole deal. "Heroes make it their livelyhood to beat down people in style in the name of justice. It's rather funny. People look up to them and all... while they sit on fat stacks of blood money like celebrities. Not all that different from what I was forced to do to make it another day for a good while. The fun of it all being that the same people who cower behind heroes also enjoy throwing money to see two dudes beat the shit out of eachother. They don't really care about who wins, they just like the violence."
A snap of his fingers and the void subsumed back into his own shadow, though the black suit remained on. "Perhaps they should get people like you to do actual heroing. You guys can rewrite reality pretty much, go back in time and fix things before they even happen. Imagine preventing people from having to or being forced to go against the norm, or solving their problems that forced them to do things in the first place. I'd reckon that four percent could be dropped to zero. In a way, I kind of envy chosen ones like you. Perhaps with your powers I wouldn't have to have a miserable existance as I had. Or hell, maybe I wouldn't be as jaded as you see me today." |

Jack Orion | Leo's eyes glanced to the guy, then at the training bots, then back at the guys. He walked closer... to the side. To the console. He looked back at the guy, then down at the ground. He finally decided to speak.
"How do you move about with a sausage dragging behind you." Leonard asked. Behind the extremely insensitive bluntness there was a hint of curiosity and a side dish of honesty. The ex-villain did seem to have trouble figuring out why someone would want to have such a big noodle hanging from their lower back dragging them down. It was like begging to get it snagged somewhere. Well... not like there was much choice probably on having it or not. But still.
Leonard then turned over to the robots. "You're still charging in like a bull, is it for rule of cool? Clearly your light is faster than your body." Another fair, if still rather blunt, observation, perhaps also a veiled compliment and a hint of acknowledgement. Very few things had Leonard in a pinch when it came to reaction times and sheer speed. "If you have multiple targets, why don't you just use your power to attack? Energy is faster than matter. I can understand your approach on single fights, but with a crowd it'd be better to just deal with all the stuff simultaneously." |

Farrin | Leonard's shadow extended outwards, quickly covering the floor, the walls, the ceiling. He would envelop the whole place in eerie darkness, tendrils raising from the floor to wrap around and latch onto the young white haired man's body, coating him in the substance and creating a jet black suit of armor, all rubbery looking and shining in the dimmed light.
He wasn't scared to show his powers to others, the premise of his quirk was simple to understand. It was his versatility with it that was the main threat in a fight. From the way it encroached though, it was clear that the young man before Farrin wasn't as innocent as most other students.
"I trust this is sufficent explanation?" Leonard stated, looking over one gloved hand, but refusing to command his dark energy to recede. For the time being, he wanted a one on one of the with the time quirk guy. "And where does that want to do heroing come from?" He asked, walking closer. "Want for fame? Recognition? Or something else."
Once he was face to face with the guy, not that he could go anywhere anyway, Leo waved a the void surrounding them. "People fear what they don't understand. If you expose yourself to the world... people will start fearing you. Fear turns to hate, hate to violence. Violence to death. Yet you wanna help people that could stab you in the back?" |

Farrin | That guy again. Leonard felt a voice and then a person whizz by him. Same guy that was beating up the other guy. The one with the time quirk or something.
...
Was it a time quirk? Or just some kind of clairvoiyance? Or just enhanced perception? Could he really see into the what would be?
"So, is it time powers or super fast perception?" Leonard called out, deciding to check out possibly one of the rarer kind of quirks going about. His own powers were strong, made so by years of usage in the brutal conditions of underground rings, but at the end of the day he was as standard as any other emitter. "If it's time, you probably already know I would have asked this, and thus know that'd I'd ask why waste time trying to do heroing if you could use that power to get filthy rich?"
He considered if he wanted to fight something like that. He quite didn't care where he was, but perhaps if this guy really had time quirk, it was probably best to understand the limitation before going head on. |
